Speaker 1 (00:12):
It's been a long day for your boy here.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
We had a team meeting here, a team iHeart, at
ten am.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
So it's been.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
A long, long day and I needed that hot, hot coffee,
and thank.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
The good Lord above, I just ended up getting that.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
But folks joining me right now to help bring a
little bit more of some juice to this show here,
I like it. I need him, Kyle Fisher, and it's
great to have you today. Unfortunately, Kyle, I'm bum because
I thought we were getting braves and Phillies around two,
but that is not the case.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Unfortunately, game has rained out once again.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Kyle Fish can be found on all things socials at
Kyle Fisher forty five. Read them over at the Philly
Sports Network. Make sure to get of those guys and
girls that follow as well at Philadelphia s and do
a great job covering everything in Philadelphia Sports.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Kyle, how are we doing today, man?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Great man?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Doing really good? Like you said, A little a little bummed.
I had tickets with the family to go down to
the game tonight. Don't know if we're gonna be able
to make the one oh five start time work tomorrow.
But for those who did have tickets for tonight's game.
Your tickets and parking will be valid for the day
portion of the game. You need to see Christopher Sanchez
go during the day. And then they've announced Zach Wheeler

(01:31):
will pitch Game two tomorrow as opposed to his start today.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Which one would you rather?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Would you rather watch Zach Wheeler or Christopher Sanchiz pitch
right now?

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Oh man, I have to go Wheeler just because he's
He's pitching like a young again. How can you not
be excited about that? I put out a little tweet
earlier about his numbers versus the Braves. Since joining the Phillies,
he has been very dominant. Haven't looked closely at Sanchez's
numbers specifically against the Braves.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
If you like some blanky, lefty magic.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
If that's more your speed, then you know ghost Chays.
But me, I want the best guy for every game
that I go to. You know, I used to joke
around when I was younger my family seemed to have
the Joe Blanton package. But every single game you go,
you got Joe Blant and you're like, come on, man,
give me Cliff Lead, give me Cole Hamiles, give me somebody.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So I would never complain about the Zach Wheeler.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
P Joe Blanton package. That's a good one. That's a
good one. Shout out to Joe Blanton. All right, well,
let's talk about Ranger Suarez, because I think it starts
and ends there. If we're honest, what a game, what
a performance, What a badass job by Rainer Suarez?

Speaker 1 (02:39):
And and this is what we do here, Kyle.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
We talk about these wagers every which way, and yesterday
when Luke joined me from Citizens Bank Park, we didn't
really talk too much about the props and everything from
Ranger Suarez's angle. I was kind of surprised after it
was all said and done to see that type outing
by Ranger. But let me ask, should I have been
should we have expected that type of performance? Nine strikeouts?

(03:05):
This guy's now thirteen and two thirds scorelish inning streak,
and he's looking like Ranger when he.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Was hot last year? Right now?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
So what are you what should our expectations be moving
forward with Ranger Suarez and the starting rotation?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Yeah, I don't know if I'm gonna say, you know,
dominant All Star leading the conversation of Cy Young just yet.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
You know, we have some time. That first outing was
pretty rough.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
But if you take that out of the equation, he's
gone at least six in the last four appearances. Three
before yesterday he had gone into this, gone into or
completed the seven, so really really strong outings. I mean,
if that back really is healed, there's no reason to
think that he can't be what he was at least

(03:52):
close to what he was in the first half of
last year, which is a dangerous weapon for these Phillies
down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah, and it was needed too, because the bats weren't
really all that there. All there for both teams, obviously,
with a two nothing win for the Phillies, but man,
Ranger was a sensational got out of some trouble there
and snapping the fingers, had five strikeouts in three innings.
I was just like, what is going on right now?
It was a great picture's duel. Strider looked pretty good.

(04:19):
It looks like he's coming into form a little bit.
I think that was his third start since he's returned,
And of course he had that hiccup once he did return,
but all eyes were on Ranger and he had a
fantastic start last night, six scoreless and now it's.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Been four and oh was four and oh on the year,
so nice job was there.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
It was interesting. You know.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Thompson even said after the game that they got him
into some deep counts early in the game.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
You know, Shot got his pitch count.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Up quickly, but he was able to battle through and
like you said, five strikeouts early in the game. I
don't care how deep of account you get a pitcher into, right,
I don't care how long how many foul balls you take.
If the result is a strike up, that means the
pitcher won the battle, right, I don't. You can get
his pitch count ashigh as you want, but if he
was able to survive that, make some mid game adjustments

(05:06):
and still go six, that's huge for your pen.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
You know.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
There was a lot of talk about the situation the
first inning and how the Philly should have responded. We'll
get into that shortly, but the focuses on Ranger and
he was. He was dynamite again last night.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yeah, and the great John Fisher checking. And yes, tonight's
game is canceled. So no Phillies braves Round two doubleheader
tomorrow and not like the olden days were used to
buy a tick and just hang out for both games.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
No now you got to Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
They gotta split it now. It just was the Phillies
of twenty fifteen. They might give you accept to both games,
but this is the team that they know they're going
to get close to a sell out on both of
those games.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
They're not giving you a free pass.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Definitely not no time out because I did see John
Clark post a picture and there's people and I get it, younger,
you know, we're not really thinking straight right, but there
are people that set up shop.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I ready to tailgame for tonight.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Like if you thought this game was being played at all,
what is the matter with you?

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Do you not? Hey?

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Man, if you've got a weird work schedule or you
don't got responsibilities, you're going, okay, let's go down. Let's
go down and see what happens.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Right, go down.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
There have a couple of Bruskies. If they decide to
start the game late because they find.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
A window a fair then I've been here all day long.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
If not, I had a nice little fun day down
in South Philly and there no playing on the pavement.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
I don't know what to tell you, but it wasn't
me back in the day. But I know plenty of
people who would have been there.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, in the travel it plays into depending where you're
coming from, and so exactly.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Yeah, I don't know if I'm driving an hour through
traffic down there just to hang out in the parking lot.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
But if I live in South Philly, I'll take it.
I'll take a bike over there.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Now you were talking, we're talking about the parking lot here,
Kyle Fisher joining us here on the Gambler stream where you.
I know you made Metallica one of those nights. Were
you out there in those parking lots?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Uh? Well, I was working the event.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Oh, I got out a little early, and I was
able to some of the traffic. I worked selling beer
for our mark on Sunday Sunday on Saturday for the
for the postal right, I was able to avoid some
of the traffic getting there early because we we were
able to sell once the gates open. And I love Metallica,

(07:17):
I've seen them before. I hopped out as soon as
I could to a beat some of that traffic.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Of the way home.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
I did see was that our guys over at Crossing
Broad share a video of some horrendous situations out of
those parking lots.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Oh yeah, so I'm really glad I afoord it.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah, it's ridiculous. It's one of those things where you're
damned if you do.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Damned it you don't. And I even took the train
down and I just was like, no, I'm good. That's
a good idea. Yeah, you're still stuck in at That's
all right. So here's the deal I got.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
I got a question for you as far as what
was the crazier scene. Was it Saturday Night with jelly
Roll and post Malone or Metallica?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
What was the crazier scene in your mind?

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Crazier as Metallica.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
I mean those people are just insane, right, you had
Pantera on beforehand, there was like steven different mosh pits
going at one time. I'll tell you that the air
smelled of a certain plant both nights, didn't matter what
concert you were at. It was pretty strong both nights.
But for for Sunday it was a little more chaotic.

(08:18):
I think there's more people, So the scene overall is
a little bit crazier for any concert at the Link
versus Citizens Bank. But I'll tell you what, man, those
people go to the wall, they go nuts for some
jelly rolling, some Postal, and it's very similar. I know
Postalone has done some country work recently. It's very similar
to a typical country crowd. So while the people were

(08:41):
crazier on Sunday and the crowd was larger, the sales
were probably better on Saturday from a beer perspective.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Interesting, All right, dad, it doesn't surprise me.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
It's a little I bet you the age has something
to do with.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Yeah, a lot of people were like, I need to
be functioning so I can drive home and go to sleep.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
A little bit of an older crowd on Sunday versus Saturday.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Post Bone and Jelly are all.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Man off the next day. Yeah, yeah, we're going.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
We're gonna rev it up a little bit more down.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
That's a lot of turning away fake id's for sure.
On Saturday Sunday. You didn't even have to ID more
than half the crowd.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I'm do you know right now that my my license
has expired? How about that I'm forty four years old
and my license has expired? How how bad is that
as a human being?

Speaker 1 (09:26):
I'm so.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
If I didn't know you personally, you'd be turned away.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Well, look, you know, so I didn't know, and I
forget what happened. It was like two months ago. I
got something in the mail and I'm like, all right,
I'll take care of it. Completely forgot and then I
go to the grocery store to pick up a twelve
pack of Miller Light or an eighteen pack of Miller
Life for me and my father in law. And next
thing you know, the lady's like, uh, your license has expired.

(09:52):
And I'm like, I'm stating there are three people behind me.
I have never felt more embarrassed. I haven't been more
embarrassed in years. So I'm just like, all right, no problem.
It's like I'm so sorry. I'm like, no, that's my fault.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Then I go to get it renewed.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
And now there's this this real id crazy so literally
the line at the DMV was a mile long, and
I go all right, like I'm good. You know, it's
it's probably not good that I have an expired license.
I do have a passport if I need it, But
the bottom line is I'm not waiting in line to
renew my license when there's this real id craze.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
To the north down the King of Prussia. Okay, I
was gonna say Northtown one. That is a huge place.
So if the line is really long there, you know,
it's good.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Yeah, I gotta do that, all right, Enough of my
business here, we're talking to Kyle Fisher. Let's get into
the business of do you retaliate or not?

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Back in the day?

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Yeah, back in the day, it's not even a question, right, like,
you retaliate, retaliate immediately, and it's probably going to be
one of their bigger name players and we're gonna see
benches clearing, no punches throwing. Maybe back in the day
punches would be thrown, who knows, and it just handled.
But now we need to debate it in the timeline.

(11:11):
I know he got all these radio shows going and
now it's on the bottom line of the crawl and
there's probably some sports book that's taking odds on it.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
That's how crazy it is these days.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
But you know, like I know, things have changed, and
I would say, like, if you're not going to do
it in that game, then don't do it at all.
Like that's where I'm at, Like, I get it. It's
Bryce Harper. It was way too up for my liking.
The X rays coming back negative have a little bit
of an effect on me as well. I'm not a

(11:41):
big retaliate type of guy in this situation. I think
it's case by case. I'm fine with that. But right here,
right now, go win the baseball game.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
How about that?

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Yeah, I think it's a little tough, right. I agree
with you that I'm not a big retaliation guy. I
understand that I wouldn't have been opposed to it.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Let me start with that. Yeah, retaliated that same day.
Hope you hope you get warnings. You know, you take
care of a guy, you hit him in the meaty
part of the back. You don't go up and end.
You just let them know, send a message.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
Hey, we you know now we're on the same page, right,
we're even you know, there's people saying you should drill them,
you know, have Jose Alparado challenge a suspension just so
we can play again and throw one O two at
any or something.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
I'm not that's so ridiculous, right, But the game has changed.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
It used to be where guy gets hit, everybody in
the stadium, umpires, they all know the next one's coming.
As long as it's not egregious. We'll put the warnings
out after the teams are even well. Then it evolves
to hey, first.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Guy that gets hit, especially if it's a star player and.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
He's really hurt, or there's been a trend, we're gonna
put the warnings up now, and now it's it's a
little tougher to retaliate. Yep, So teams started extending the
time period that they had so you would do it
the next game or two games later, the next series.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
There's guys who.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Are getting hit in spring training as retaliation for the
season before now and and the league have.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Become more sensitive.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
So my worry would have been that if you do retaliate,
it's obvious what you're doing, and then the umpires feel
the need to control the situation, and instead of offering warnings,
they just reject the guy who obviously did it on purpose,
whereas the first one wasn't done on purpose, right, So
you're setting yourself up to be behind.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
The eight ball.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
To start, imagine Ranger Suarez comes out in the second
or third inning and beans Akunya the next time he's
up and he gets ejected, and now you're basically in
a bullpen game, running the risk that the first day
of a seven day homestand you are going to tire
out your bullpen something that's already been a concern, especially
for the high leverage guys. You don't want to start

(13:43):
a seven day stretch with no days off having used
everyone in your pen on day one. It's not a
smart move. So maybe maybe they do something tonight. Maybe,
you know, Hernandez comes in if the game's in hand,
if you're up four or five, you know, maybe her
As comes in and sends a message to somebody without
making it egregious. I could see something like that. That

(14:05):
the one thing that I about retaliation that I felt
was interesting. And Ruben Amaro said this on the post
game yesterday. He said, if it were the if this
were an isolated incident, find who cares about the division rival?
It doesn't, you know whatever. It stinks that he didn't
have the pad on, he gets hit. It's a bad situation.
But nobody meant for that to happen. But Harper went

(14:26):
from not getting hit all season to being hit three
times in the last three games. Are people trying to
hit him? No, he hasn't done anything to warrant this
sudden attention. The one thing he has done is he
started to get hot. Yeah, and one way you can
try and challenge the guy from when he's hot, is
to challenge him inside, make him back off the plate
a little bit, make him think of it, and that's

(14:47):
what pitchers are doing.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Ruben's message was you need.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
To send a message to the rest of the league
that you cannot do this. If you can't control it,
don't come in on our guy.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
We have our guys back. And from that perspective, a
guy who's.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Been in the game as long as he has, I
would never argue if they did it in a one
nothing game, a game that finishes to nothing, it doesn't
make sense to put a free base runner on, right.
Why give them a free base runner and run the
risk that you are gonna either get your current pitcher
thrown out or now warnings are on in the next
guy who misses one inside, now he gets tossed. Right,
you put yourself in a really bad position. But if

(15:23):
they're up big to in game one tomorrow or Game
two tomorrow, or the next time they play each other,
I think that's a perfect time to do it, even
if it doesn't feel the same and people want that
retribution right now.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Bryce Harper's a smart enough guy to know, hey, they'll
take care of me. When they can. It's not it's
not something that he feels needs to be done. You know,
this isn't this isn't this isn't nineteen nineties ball. Yeah,
it's a little bit different now.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
And that's what it comes down to, right, It is
all completely different because it is a.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
New day where warnings are tossed before even if the
pitch is thrown right where exact you know, back And
that's a shame because you allow them to police themselves.
And you know, like I said, hopefully with cooler heads
would prevail and punches wouldn't be thrown. People want to
leave the bench just so what it's not the first
time we've seen that. People running in from the bullpen.
I hate it, but whatever. And at the end, you know,

(16:16):
Ranger Suarez goes back out there and he comes inside,
and now the warnings go like that's the way it
should be, right, Bryce got hit. Ranger comes out there,
he comes inside in the first battery, he thinks he
could do it and get away with it.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
It is what it is. Hits him.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Next thing, you know what, warnings are throwing and we
go play baseball again. Could things happen?

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (16:36):
And I understand why umpires are proactive when it comes
to warnings. And things have changed so much, but that's
the way it should be. But all in all, right now,
with the game not being played tonight, I just think
you go ahead and leave this alone and move on.
We'll see, we'll see. I would be surprised if Christopher

(16:56):
Sanchez did in game one Wheeler, though it is a
different breed.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Wheeler might come inside.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
An old school, but he.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Also doesn't like putting guys on for free. He might shure, dude,
let somebody else handle that. I'm not here to win
a game. And that's what those guys' mentality is. I understand,
like it is sticking up for your guy, and that's
a real thing. Harper would be very happy if someone
did it right. He'd be good they got my back.
But he knows that those guys have his back anyway.

(17:23):
They don't need to prove anything to him, right.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
So for from his.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Perspective, he's probably if it happens, whatever, if it doesn't,
that's fine. We're out here to win baseball games, not
to not to start a beam ball war without a
vision rifle.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah, and you know, like you said about uh, Wheeler,
he's in the running for Cy Young Award, so every
start is important when it comes to that award, and
I know that he's not thinking about that. But from
the standpoint of people out there, that money in the game,
our money on that award, prop you don't want to
see that. So we'll see, we'll see what happens. Again,
they're supposed to play too tomorrow. I don't even know

(17:55):
if they're gonna be able to get that. And it's
supposed to rain the next four days. I can't believe.
I pulled up the weather and it's looking as bad
as it is. But then again, it's been like that
basically the whole month of May. All right, let's keep
it moving. And again, from the Phillies' perspective, great game
last night to nothing win against the Braves, I want
to get into a discussion that we were hitting on

(18:16):
a little bit yesterday. We were talking about just the
Of course, we know what they are as far as
record is concerned, and they were top dogs in the
n L. They were half game or a game behind
Detroit for the best record at baseball. Regardless, though, when
we start to measure up the Phillies and we compare
them to last year, and we look around the league
this year. What are we saying right now Kyle on

(18:38):
May twenty eighth, Again, you are what your record says
you are.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
That's understood.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
But when you compare and contrast against the Cubbies against
every team in.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
The West, and oh, by the way, this hit me
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
The Dodgers are going to continue to get richer because
they're bringing in sho hey Otani as a pitcher after
the All Star Game, like they're going to add perhaps
one of the best arms. You got to think of
it as a free agency get or excuting that free agency,
but a trade essentially, and they're going to add one
of the better arms post All Star break when Show
has able to return to a starting pitching spot. So

(19:14):
that's a tough pill to swallow, but it's the reality
of the situation right here, right now, when you compare
the Phillies to the other teams in the NL, where
are we at in the pecking order as far as
power rankings?

Speaker 1 (19:24):
For your money, Kyle, yeah, I mean, like you.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Said, they have the best record, and they have the
best record. It's tough to argue with that. I don't
care how many teams under five hundred you've played. I
don't care what your expected results are. If you're outperforming
your expected results, that's a good sign. Means you're taking
care of business in situations where maybe you wouldn't be
favored to. I think I posted and you shared it
when Luke was on yesterday about their record in one

(19:50):
run games. They have an incredible record in one run games.
I think it's at ten and four in one run game.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
And they almost made it eleven and four last night
if they didn't add on that other one, which is
an the great sign. They didn't add one on via
the home run. They're not even that great in power
numbers this year, but where they are great is walk
the strikeout ratio, walk right overall on base percentage, stingles,
overall hits. Those are the things that keep rallies going.

(20:18):
Not that the home run doesn't accomplish the same thing
that you know two base hits and two walks does,
but that is that defeats a team, that defeats a
pitching staff. An individual pitcher attacking a guy and getting
a home run on the first pitch is great, but
it's one pitch. If that guy's really strong. He might

(20:39):
last an entire inning and shut down the rest of
your lineup. If you can string together walks, singles, and
then maybe a killer double or home run later in
the inning, that is you're usually you're typically getting through
two or three arms at that point. If it's against
the relief corps, those are the types of things that
to me, it's winning baseball.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
I said it yesterday, right, it's winning baseball.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
You take care of business against the bad teams, you
hang in there and you're a little over five hundred
against the good teams, and you win close games.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
That is a winning formula I right now, on.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Paper, the biggest thing that they have is health. The
starting pitching staff is very healthy. And that's with Aaron
Nola on the injured list. I sent you something earlier
about the Dodgers. The Dodgers have more money in pitchers
on the injured list than the Marlins or.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Guardians or Pirates have spent on their entire roster.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Like they are.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
Envious of the Phillies' pitching situation and their health. And
that is an organizational win.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
That is a.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
The medical staff win.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
It's a win across the board on how these guys
prepare themselves for the season and how they set themselves
up for the postseason.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Obviously we've seen what happens in the postseason.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Anything can go, but you're setting yourself up for success
by playing a winning formula, taking care of business in
close games, taking care of business against the bad teams.
They're setting themselves up for successful long term.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
What happens when Nola returns? Anything changing majorly in your
mind as far as the rotation. Does he have a
short leash? You know, do you expect Nola to return
to form of what we know, what we've come to
know about Aaron Nola over the years, or we were
going to continue to see some struggles. Do you think
there was a real injury. I know there's a couple

(22:23):
of questions there, but it's not the first time that
you would give a picture of break if he's struggling
a little bit to.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Find his own Your thoughts on Nola right now? What
do you expect on your returns?

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Yeah, well that was the first question that everybody asked, right,
is just a fan ofmil situation.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
He's been struggling. Do they let him go figure some
things out? It seems that through.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Everything that they've said, I haven't heard any hints even that,
you know, I've talked to reporters who are even more
tuned in.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
They haven't heard anything otherwise.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Apparently after that start in Cleveland, he did show some
signs in the clubhouse, but they were going to let
him pitch through it. And then that last outing at
home is where really Thompson felt like he was changing
his mechanics. You know, Nola's the guy who prides himself
being available every fifth day. So for him to willingly
be like, yeah, okay, let's go, you know, let's do

(23:11):
what we got to do to get right.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
I think he's gonna come back, right. They're not going
to rush it back. They have the help on their
side right now.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
They have some guns that they can turn to if
they need it, whether it be Walker staying there, if
he continues to pitch. Well, we saw what Abel did
in limited time.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
They have some depth that.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Maybe they didn't have last year that can help them
navigate until Nola's ready. Will Noah be the guy who
was potentially putting cy youngs a few years ago? Probably not,
But is he a guy who can limit his walks
and get his control back the thing that's been the
calling card of Aaron Nolan since he joined the league.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
I think so. I think that if he can limit
the walks.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
The home runs have been an issue for him for
a long time, but the thing that's been killing him
this season is he's allowing walks in front of those
home runs, so a one run shot turns into a
two or three run, and those are the issues that
he faced in those first few starts. I think if
he can come back and pitch at a three five
the rest of the way, the end of the year,

(24:10):
era might still look like a four and a half
quick calculations, but if he can pitch three five, three
eight the rest of the way, you're very happy with that.
And then that puts Walker in a permanent position in
the bullpen, which they've said they think will be beneficial
instead of going back and forth.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
He'll really be able to change his full routine and really.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Amp up for those innings that he pitches out of
the pen. And then we'll see what happens if Painter's ready.
But I think that if they'll take their time with Nola,
they've already said he still feels a little sore after
having catch yesterday. They're gonna take their time with him,
but I think that it's gonna be once he's ready
to go, you're gonna see, maybe not vintage Nola where
he's throwing two five era, but I think you're gonna

(24:52):
see what you've come to expect from him last year.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Interesting, I didn't see that.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
I didn't hear that either as far as still dealing
with some swordness or I'll tell with a to change
my question a little bit there, but yeah, that's not
a good thing if you still deal with sorts.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
And he seems to.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
Think it was awful, right, everything seem to bik. Yeah,
of course, I'm sorry. You know, it's an ankle. But
we're working through it.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
We're doing we need to do so, all right.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Not to worry about it, No, not too worried about it.
This team is rolling right along.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
It's unfortunate that they have the night off, and I
didn't like it when they didn't play a Memorial Day.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
I wanted to watch the Phillies baseball.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
It's understood, and I don't like it that they're not
playing the Braves tonight once again canceled PPD tomorrow doubleheader.
Little Sanchez Wheeler doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves. Talk more
about that when tomorrow, obviously on the daily ticket. Yeah,
the Dodgers are a big time story, and of course
show Hey continues to do, show Hey things going yard
yet again, you know, as twenty home runs in the

(25:45):
first fifty five games. I'll give you a primost HOGI
if you could tell me the other two Dodgers that
have done it in Dodgers franchise history. Twenty home runs
in fifty five games.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Ooh, it's time. It's tough. I would not have gotten
either one of these guys.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Is Matt Kemp one of them?

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Incorrect?

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Man, well, I already lost who is guest?

Speaker 4 (26:12):
I saw it earlier, but I didn't see Oh okay,
I saw the Sarah Langs sweet and I had scrolled
right by.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Gil Hodges had twenty one in nineteen fifty one. Yeah,
would never never pulled that one.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
And then Cody Bellinger ninety his MVP.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
That's right, he was outrageously good that year.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
That guy a lot of leeway through thro those years
where he struggled.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
That one was hot right now too, with the Yankees,
sixty fourth time a player and the major did it
in the same span, first time since the Mets Pee Alonzo.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
And twenty twenty three. Good stuff there.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Like you said, he's pitching. He's getting ready to pitch
on the side during all of the.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Rich get richer, Man, the rich, rich get richer.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
All right, Hey, I you do a great job talking
out things NFL Kyle, of course for CBA Sports on
the sideline for NFL Sundays.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Ninety nine days away from kickoff. I know you probably
don't want to hear that.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
To a point, you're like, man, I want to enjoy
the summer here a little bit, all right, before I
got to go back to work.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
I got one for you. I'm gonna talk about this
in a five o'clock hour.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
But Kirk Cousins not in attendance for OTA's big deal
or who cares with the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
I mean, I'm not big on especially veteran guys. I'm
not big on like, who cares a threat the OTAs
right away?

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Especially.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
I mean, we'll see, it's gonna matter if he's gone
for a very long period of time. Right But for me,
a veteran guy, he knows what he what he is,
The team knows what he is. It'll give them extra
time to look at some of the younger players, the
younger quarterbacks on the team.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
I'm not worried about it as of yet. We'll see
if he.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Keeps missing OTAs, if he starts missing you know, stuff
in camp, it's a different story.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Yeah. I would like to see, like Kirk Cousins was
Murdo last year, if not the worst quarterback in all
of the NFL, one of the worst. So I'm not
trying to sit here and make about to be something
he is not. But clearly things have shifted down there
in Atlanta with Panics being the starting quarterback. I just
think as you look at speak speaking of OTAs, as

(28:14):
you look at who the Pittsburgh Steelers have in OTAs
right now, I just feel like Kirk Cousins would be
such an upgrade. So they should probably find a way
to make that happen. But I understand the price tag
attached will probably make life a little bit difficult. I
don't think that the Pittsburgh Steelers want to do that,
or it would have happened already necessarily. But we'll see

(28:35):
what happens. Again, it is ridiculous and maybe call up Cleveland.
Cleveland has seventeen quarterbacks. See if you can get one
of those guys, all right, before we get out of here,
one last one. As far as Aiden Hutchinson, I was
talking about this a little earlier, Defensive Player of the Year,
top dog, favored to win Defensive Player of the Year.

(28:55):
As far as award is concerned in the NFL, with
him turning, that.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Is a big deal.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
We know what he's capable of. I just am not
sold on him winning that award. Is there someone else
in your mind? Again, it was a little bit surprise
last year with that award. Is there someone in your
mind that you would look to possibly get the job
done and win that award? Maybe a long shot at
a Defensive Player of the Year. And I'm pulling up
the card right now in DraftKings. But Hutchinson, I was

(29:23):
surprised that he was your favorite.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
Yeah. I mean, well, you know what.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
The NFL loves a comeback story too. I know that
it's not the Comeback Player of the Year award, but
I love comebacks. The Lions seemed to be darlings of
the league recently. A lot of people love that team,
love the grit that they bring. And he's a big
part of that.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
So I wouldn't be surprised if he were a favorite
if he plays like he did when he was healthy. Yeah,
I mean, how can you not think Jalen Carter would
be a potential guy as a long shot. I don't
know what the odds are, but I like him. I
could see Max Crosby some energy.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
In that in that clubhouse, if you could call his
odds are again, but I think that he could be
a guy. Those are probably the two of the guys
that I would I would look to for people I
haven't heard mentioned in the conversation regularly.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Max, You know, everybody knows what he can bring.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
Jamen's probably considered more of a of a team guy
because maybe some of the counting numbers aren't always there,
but the guy is such a game wrecker. If some
of those numbers do get up this year, I'll probably
have the same impact. But if a couple of the
tallying numbers shining through this year, instead of just being
a part of the greater good, he could be a

(30:35):
dark horse candout.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Well. I do like where you were stabbing at that one.
First of all, Jayle on car twenty two to one,
Max Crosby eighteen to one. So you're right there, good
numbers attached to those names. And of course we know
patries Ter Tam won it last year forty to one.
Cooper the Gene is listed at fifty to one to
win Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
That is surprising.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Either one of those guys could be either one of
the cornerbacks could be. Potentially him and Quinnon have the
even odds.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Yeah, fifty to one.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Yeah, yeah, I mean they're making a huge impact on
really strong defense.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
We'll see, you know, and their second year in the league.
Let's see if they take a jump. You know, who knows.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
I don't know if i'd put any money on them. Personally,
I'm not sprinkling any funds on there. But if you're
if you're a betting man and you want to take
a long shot, why not.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
All right, Well, we will talk more about the NFL
over the upcoming weeks. Once again, ninety nine days away,
we mix it all in with Kyle Fisher does a
great job doing it all once again Kyle Fisher forty
five this week and find him on socials and be
sure to read him over at the Affiliate Sports Network

(31:47):
in FL ninety nine days away, unbelievable. We will talk
some Eagles obviously after the OTAs you know, some big
talking points, some questions, Kevin Moore being replaced, what's gonna
happen there, so on and so forth. So I know
that the speaking of Cooper Digien, that was a big
thing on the timeline where he was lining up again.
It's May twenty eighth. I'm not gonna get too crazy

(32:08):
unless he's lining up at the O D. Other than that,
I'm not gonna get too concerned right now. But Kyle,
great stuff. Man. We'll continue to u follow you on
outing socials and we'll catch up later this week's.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
They're always a pleasure.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Sounds good.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
There is Kyle Fisher once again on the Gambler stream,
all right, from defensive player of the Year in the
world of the NFL. Looking forward to hearing the boys
get back after it, Ryan Beef, Cooyle and Nick McLay.
This evening football is king. We will have that for
you tomorrow right here on the Gambler. On the other side, folks,

(32:44):
where SPF dot com. Where SPF dot com, You're like, yo,
what is that brace?

Speaker 4 (32:51):
What?

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Why why are you yelling at? What should I do?

Speaker 3 (32:53):
What?

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Is it obviously SPF suntan lotion, right, But here's the deal.
We have teamed up with the folks of a wear
SPF and one of the cool things is Justin Thomas.
This is his brand, this is his baby, his idea,
his child. And I know you just had a brand
new baby. But the great golfer on the PGA Tour

(33:14):
really had a health issue and of course it was
a cancerous spot. Very surprising story from back in the
day that I have never heard before about Jat and
now he has decided to create this brand of SPF.
WEARESPF dot com and once again it's for all athletes,
people that are performing, golfers, xyz, you name it. Of course,

(33:37):
Sntana Looshan has been around for a long time. But
there's a lot to choose from. It's a very crowded category.
But this one is shining right now and you're gonna
hear more about why that is. In two stories. We
got Christian who's in charge of marketing and promotions for
the folks that a weare SPF. He stopped by the
studio a little earlier today. We discussed it and broke
it down. But I want to tell you here just

(34:00):
Thomas's story very intriguing and alarming to at the same time.
So wear SPF dot com right now free ship. They're
available on Amazon. I got one in my golf bag
right here, right now. Put one in the cars. You
always have one as well. Now is the time of
year where we must protect ourselves from those UV rays.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
They are dangerous, especially when you're a baldy like me.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Hear the story coming up on the other side once
again where SPF and then Sam Austrey back.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Over to the NBA.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
We'll talk about the Pacers and Knicks big time performance
by Tyree's Halliburton. No way, sam Ostri is pitching the
idea that this series is not over. No way is
sam Ostri gonna hop on this show today at four
thirty represent the score, saying that the Knicks are still
in this down three games to one.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
I don't know, though, we'll have to find out together.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
He's gonna join me at four thirty and then we'll
get back to the NFL in a five o'clock hour.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
