issue is I don't like have a set.

Team that I follow, and I think when you watch
college sometimes I feel like you kind of have to
have one team that you watch more.

to be honest, way too much baseball. I like college baseball.

This is statistically and of course if you just judge
your eyes, he's off to his worst start as a
starting pitcher in a Phillies uniform.

I know you wrote an article at Crossing broad dot
com that said you are not worried about Aaron Nola's
start at this point in time.

Why so?

Yeah, Honestly, I I posted that article thinking I was
gonna get a lot more people that disagreed, and I
was honestly surprised. I think it's simply just too early,
and I think he has too good of a track
record to be worried for starts in I think there's

some reasons to be maybe concerned about how he looks
right now. But I think there's a difference of being
concerned maybe how he looks right now and being worried
about his future.

Those are two just cletely different things. Obviously, he doesn't
look great right now. It's it's in uh he has
the fourth ors cra and All Baseball out of qualified pictures.

Not great, it's it's it's been a rough start.

Granted, if you look at that list, there's a lot
of other good pictures at the bottom of that list
as well. I have a really hard time buying too
much into stats. In the middle of April, we're about
three weeks into the season.

But at the same time, I think you can look
at uh some velocity issues, and honestly, I'm not as
worried about his velocity as I am the command and
and granted.

Once again, I think you can also say it's early.

But Aaron Nole has never been you know, this big
flamethrower that's six ninety seven all game He's he's been
a guy throughout his career where he's he's in the
ninety two to ninety five mark. But what's made him
so great is that there's two things one, he commands
the baseball.

And the other thing is he he never walks people.
He's not a walker. That's just never one.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
That's yeah, that that well, that's that's where I'm getting to. Yeah,
that's just never what he's been. It's the first time
in his career where he's walked four guys and back
to back starts.

So that's something I think where you can maybe.

Be a little sort of iffy on. But I just
think it's too early to be this worried. I think
if if we're sitting here talking about a guy, you know,
who's who's never been good and he's this bad in
the beginning of the season, then I think you.

Can be worried.

But I think this is a guy that takes down
two hundred innings a year, strikes out two hundred guys
a year. I think it's hard to just hit the
full on panic button right now on a guy that
has that that well of a track record.

I don't think you're gonna get any argument from anybody here.
Right it is April seventeenth, so there's no no that's
gonna lose their minds, especially pitching in this type of
weather and hitting in this type of weather.

It's just tough.

But you know when he did sign that contract, you
know what comes with that right you have to perform.
And we're talking about expectations. This is a team that
can't have the guys that you had locked into those
roles not live up to that billing. And Aaron Nola
is absolutely one of those guys. This team is just
team's got flaws.

And now that I still think they're a good team,
and I don't think they're a complete team.

I believe that they're.

Going to add pieces throughout the course of this season,
whether it's through minor leagues, whether it's through a trade,
so on and so forth. But Aaron Nola is a
guy that I just expected a little bit more from

to be honest, way too much baseball. I like college baseball.

I know you wrote an article at Crossing broad dot
com that said you are not worried about Aaron Nola's
start at this point in time.

Why so?

Yeah, Honestly, I I posted that article thinking I was
gonna get a lot more people that disagreed, and I
was honestly surprised. I think it's simply just too early,
and I think he has too good of a track
record to be worried for starts in I think there's

some reasons to be maybe concerned about how he looks
right now. But I think there's a difference of being
concerned maybe how he looks right now and being worried
about his future.

Those are two just cletely different things. Obviously, he doesn't
look great right now. It's it's in uh he has
the fourth ors cra and All Baseball out of qualified pictures.

Not great, it's it's it's been a rough start.

Granted, if you look at that list, there's a lot
of other good pictures at the bottom of that list
as well. I have a really hard time buying too
much into stats. In the middle of April, we're about
three weeks into the season.

It's early.

But at the same time, I think you can look
at uh some velocity issues, and honestly, I'm not as
worried about his velocity as I am the command and
and granted.

Once again, I think you can also say it's early.

But Aaron Nole has never been you know, this big
flamethrower that's six ninety seven all game He's he's been
a guy throughout his career where he's he's in the
ninety two to ninety five mark. But what's made him
so great is that there's two things one, he commands
the baseball.

And the other thing is he he never walks people.
He's not a walker. That's just never one.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
That's yeah, that that well, that's that's where I'm getting to. Yeah,
that's just never what he's been. It's the first time
in his career where he's walked four guys and back
to back starts.

So that's something I think where you can maybe.

Be a little sort of iffy on. But I just
think it's too early to be this worried. I think
if if we're sitting here talking about a guy, you know,
who's who's never been good and he's this bad in
the beginning of the season, then I think you.

Can be worried.

But I think this is a guy that takes down
two hundred innings a year, strikes out two hundred guys
a year. I think it's hard to just hit the
full on panic button right now on a guy that
has that that well of a track record.

I don't think you're gonna get any argument from anybody here.
Right it is April seventeenth, so there's no no that's
gonna lose their minds, especially pitching in this type of
weather and hitting in this type of weather.

It's just tough.

But you know when he did sign that contract, you
know what comes with that right you have to perform.
And we're talking about expectations. This is a team that
can't have the guys that you had locked into those
roles not live up to that billing. And Aaron Nola
is absolutely one of those guys. This team is just
team's got flaws.

We see it.

And now that I still think they're a good team,
and I don't think they're a complete team.

I believe that they're.

Going to add pieces throughout the course of this season,
whether it's through minor leagues, whether it's through a trade,
so on and so forth. But Aaron Nola is a
guy that I just expected a little bit more from
