Dodgers are going to the National League Division Series. The
Dodgers are going to Philadelphia as they move on in
their quest to run it back in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Let's go Bring it on, baby, Bring it on.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Dodgers and Phillies Game one, come in your way either
six oh eight or six point thirty eight pm on
Saturday evening.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Joining us right now on the game, but the stream.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
He covers the Phillies for us here on the Gambler
and does a great job for the folks over at
Crossing broad dot Com as well. Luke Arcaney and Luke
I have to update this. The boys have blown it open.
The Detroit Tigers are about to a roll past the.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Guardians here in Game three, do or die.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
It is now five to one, top of the seventh
runners on first and third, one out for the Tigers.
Had him in this series, took him for Game three.
Let's and another base six to one, Tigers on top.
Everybody was buying the Guardians, and I understand why they
were hot coming in. But when you roll Schooble out
there for game one and all you have to do
(01:43):
is win two, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I like the Tigers chances.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Credit to the Guardians forcing three here, But oh no,
this was an easy wager and I don't say that often.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
So uh, let's go making the boys some money. Let's
go bus all right, enough of the Tigers. Let's talk
Padres and Cubs.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Though, Do you have a take for us in the
Padres and Cubs, Because for my money, it was a
flip of a coin. Luke, I just was saying to
myself that, you know, I like the Cubs, I like
the defense, but I won't be shocked at the Padres
win Game three today.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
I don't have to take on the game. My only
take is, whoever wins today's game beats the Brewers.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Oh I like that.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
I think I think whoever wins today probably be Brewers.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
I just don't think the Brewers can pitch.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
They have a Jose Quintana and they have a Jacob
Mizerowski who's never pitching the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I don't I don't love the Brewers.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I think they play very good fundamental baseball, but I
don't think fundamental baseball wins the championship.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
I know, gotta hit bombs.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, I think hitting bombs and being able to pitch
can probably win.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
And granted, I don't think the Cubs can pitch either.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
That's why I think I give the Padres a better
shot the Brewers and the Cubs.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
But it's about it. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
I'm not scared of any three of these teams left
on the other side, because I think the best two
teams left in the postseason are about to play on
Saturday at either six soh eight or six thirty eight.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yep, you're right.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Let's talk about those Dodgers and Phillies here. And of
course I think a lot of people out there, and
myself included, to a point, I know he's pitched better,
but shoheo, Tony has been electric. He's been insane his
last four starts nineteen and two thirds innings, only one run,
twenty seven strikeouts, four walks. He's been pretty damn good
(03:43):
as advertised, these last four starts and the ramping up
periods is officially over. He's not on any restrictions pitching,
our pitches or innings, and I fully expected that.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
But at the same time, he is a superstar. You
never know.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
But the key to this Game one slash series for
my money, Lucas, you gotta get.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
To the bullpen.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Easier said than done with a starting pitcher like shohey Otani,
but he's going number three in the rotation. Your expectations
for Game one? Where are we at? And do you
agree with me? The key for the Phillies to win
this Game one, win this series is get to the
Dodgers' bullpen.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah. Game one's the biggest game of this series the
Phillies this year, and there's been a staff around from
a few different guys over the last few weeks. It's
kind of been counted all season and noted because it's
so glaring. When the Phillies have won Game one series
this year, they've won thirty series. When they've lost Game one,
(04:46):
they've won five series. You have to win game of
this series if you drop a home granted, you know
the old saying, if you're the lower seed, you take
one of the first two games. Yep, that home field
advantage has gone good. But Game one is more important
than Game two.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
To me.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
You have to go out there and set the tone.
I I I understand. It's Otani. I understand.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
It's you know, Freddie Freeman in the bank and a
hot Mookie Bets coming off the wild card and a
really good September for Mookie. But the Phillies don't have
the you know, excuse anymore. They have the deepest lineup
they've they've had, They have probably the better bullpen that
(05:33):
they've had over the last three four years, and they
have it's it's crazy to say they probably have the
hottest pitching rotation they've had in the playoffs. Even without
Zach Wheeler, Sanchez has proven himself as an ace. He
gets to go out there and do it on Saturday.
Place is gonna be insane. And if if you go
(05:56):
out there Saturday and you and you lay a dud
with with a crowd that you're gonna get on Saturday,
that might be the craziest crowd you've seen at Citizens
Bank over.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
The last four years.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
On Saturday, Shoe Aotani's first ever playoff start on the
mound at Citizens Bank, It's going to be absurd over there,
and you just have to set the downe. You have
to go out there. I don't care if you win
one nothing or if you win fourteen nothing. You just
have to find a way to win. And I think
(06:28):
they're in a pretty good spot to the guys. Look
look loose Wednesday night at the inner squad. I think
they're ready. Everyone's healthy. Harper obviously went yard. But you know,
Game one is the biggest game of their season so far.
And it's crazy because I think you could go to
Game two and say Game two is the biggest season
(06:48):
in Game three, and I think people say that every series,
but I truly think Game one is going to be
the biggest game that they play this entire series, because
you just have to go out there and you have
to set the freaking tone.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
Luke not to be negative net over here, but I
do want to talk about the starting pitching, and we
know how great they've been. I mean, even without Zach Wheeler,
like maybe the best starting rotation in the league, and
like you were talking about, Christopher Sanchez has turned in
to a legitimate one and legitimate ECE in this league.
(07:23):
But is it a little different when you get to
the postseason, like Christopher Sanchez does not have an extensive
postseason history. Even when you go down to like hazus Lozardo,
who's gonna go Game three in all likelihood? Does is he?
He doesn't have a ton of postseason experience. Is there
any concerns We've seen aces falter in the postseason before,
(07:43):
Clayton kersharw even our own Aaron Nola has had great
regular seasons and sometimes sometime it's been a little.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Worse in the postseason.
Speaker 7 (07:51):
Is there any concern that not a lot of postseason
history could end up biting Christopher Sanchez when he takes
the Mountain Game one.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I think it's always there, you know. I think if
you have a guy in Sanchez who's.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Only made a.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Handful of postseason starts, what one or two, you know,
I think it's there.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
But you know, granted, this is also Shohotani's first start
in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
He's never pitched in the playoffs as a starter, so
you know, I think it can sort of go both
ways there. But you know, I think what I've seen
and what I think makes me confident from the pitching side,
is that the guys that the Phillies are throwing out.
Have proven that they want the moment. They haven't proven
(08:43):
that they can rise in the moment. I think, other
than Ranger, they haven't proven that yet, just because they
haven't really been there a ton.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
But these guys have proven that they want it.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Sanchez battled in the postseason last year and is coming
off the best season of his career. He's probably gonna
finish second in CY Young. If they cared any bit
about team success in the Cy Young.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
He would win it.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Hazels Sozardo, every time that he's gotten into a big
game regular season, he hitched better and better. If you
go look at Lozardo's stats against playoff teams versus non
playoff teams, it's it's pretty insane. He's a lot better
against better teams. He's he's he's an emotional guy on
the mound, and I think that can really help in
(09:27):
a postseason setting. And then obviously, I think y'all know
the postseason history from Ranger Suarez. I mean, the guy
is one of the lowest going into last postseason. He
had one of the lowest eras in the history of
baseball in the postseason with a minimum of I think
like thirty innings. So I mean, yes, I think it
will always be there, you know, just because you don't
(09:47):
have a Zach.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Wheeler and a prime Aaronola going out there.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
But I think these guys have proven that they want
the ball, and I trust the guys that have shown
you all year that they want the ball in the
posts rather than the opposite.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Look, I would say my biggest concern going into Game
one for for Christopher Sanchez, and I'm gonna answer my
own concern here is if he would be too hyped,
too over, you know, fired up right the emotions, and
all of a sudden he's not able to his off
(10:22):
speed pitch isn't really an off speed pitch, you know
that sort of deal.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
I don't have that, you know, worry.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I think Christopher Sanchez is a very even keeled dude,
has the All Star Game experience correct this year, so
I think that's gonna help out a little bit maybe.
But and on the flip side, unfortunately, I think sho
Hael Tani is the guy that keeps his emotions and
checked to as well. So I don't think, you know,
the either starting pitcher is gonna be bothered. I what
(10:48):
are we feeling like as far as offense is concerned,
and when we look at the numbers. Luke again, I
don't think too many people are caring about this sort
of deal. But we are sports gambling show seven and
a half. Do we think that this is going to
be a knock them down, drag them out type game
one where it's tight three to two, or do we
see an offense get going. I tend to believe that
we're gonna see some run scoring Game one.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yeah, I tend to agree with you. I tend to
lean towards the up there on the seven and a half.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
I just think, you know, I think both pitchers are great.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
I think everyone knows that, but I think there's also
two really good lineups on the other side of it.
And I mean, you saw what what the Dodgers did
to those red starters. And granted the fact that Zach
Latel was pitching in a postseason game tells you all
you need to know Cincinnati Reds, but you know, they
(11:43):
knocked around Hunter Green a little bit. The Phillies have
have hit Dodgers pitching pretty well, and you know, I
think it goes back into Dodgers bullpen conversation. And you know,
if the Dodgers would word you get an early lead,
you know, say.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
A two to one, three to one early lead.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
But Otani gets out of there fairly early. I like
the Phillies chances against the Dodgers bullpen, so I would
tend to lean towards the over there in this game.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
One.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
You know, I think both pitchers are great once again,
but I think this could be one of those games
where you know, it could be one nothing through the
first five innings and then all of a sudden, it
just boom goes second Sanchez gets out, and then if
Otani gets out of there, I think these guys can
can go. So I would tend to lean towards the
(12:35):
over rather than the You know.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
It's funny.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
I just like thought to myself, like how it's going
to be in that ballpark. I will be there on Saturday,
very very lucky. Well, if they if they go five
innings of scoreless baseball, I.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Think the fans.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Are gonna go absolutely berserk, Like they will boo, they
will boom if they will.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Here's the thing, if Philly.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
And you can post this on any social media you want.
If Phillies fans boom after five innings.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
I was saying the other way.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
If cho Hay is shutting out the Philly I'm telling.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
You right now that get everyone saying you gotta get
to the bull play. Hold on, if it's a zero
zero game.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
You not zero zero. I wasn't even putting into the
equation the dog. Yeah, well, I'm just going off of
the history with this team in postseason. I feel like
this fan base is just like, no, it's unacceptable. Get
after it, be aggressive, and look that's the that's the difference. Yeah,
(13:37):
that's the different vibe with this team right here, right now.
It's not about manufacturing wrens. It's not about station the station.
It's give me the bombs. It's get Kyle Schwarber up
to the dish is get one of the hottest sticks
in the game, and Tray Turner to the plate. Bryce Harper,
we know what he's capable of. Like, that's what this
is all about. With that being said, bring it over
to the question that I asked h Natalie earlier, and
(13:58):
and I feel like, come on, man, fifty six in
a regular season and we were, you know, beating the
drum for your net or for your n L MVP chances.
We always knew show Hey is going to win it,
and that's fine, but Kyle Schwarber could very well have
been the NL MVP, bar none, the MVP of this
Phillies team.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
So here we are.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
I see show Hey o Tani lighting it up, hitting
two home runs in the game, coming up with big
bass hits. I have the same damn expectations for Kyle Schwarber.
I'm sure he does as well, so I'm not saying
anything out of order. For my money, he is the
most important piece for the Phillies to win this series
versus Dodgers. You could throw pitching in there, but let's say,
(14:39):
for this conversation, take the pitching out of it. Where
do you stand on that one. Who's the most important
batter player for you in this series?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yeah, I'd agree with you a little bit.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
I don't think it's Schwarber, and I think it's five
through nine in the lineup. Oh, we're getting ta the
five through nine hitters. And really, I'm gonna get to
my lineup prediction in a few minutes. But if you
if it, if my prediction is right, then it's fourth nine.
(15:12):
Kyle Schwarber led off last year's NLDS Game one against
the Mets with an absolute nuke off of Senga.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Phillies lost that game.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Kyle Schwarber let off Game seven of the NLCS.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Against an absolute nuke. No Philly's lost that game.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Damn.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Kyle Schwerber can hit however he.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Wants it if the production top to bottom is not there.
I think the last what the last three years have
proven is that two sluggers can't slug your way to
a World Series. Bryce Harper is top ten all time
in postingson ops. The Phillies haven't won a World Series.
Kyle Schwerber is in the top twenty of that stat.
(15:55):
Dodgers last year. Shoe Otani last year in the playoffs
hit two with seven to sixty ops, and the Dodgers
won the World Series. It's because they got production from
a Key k Hernandez, from a Max Munsey, from an
Andy Piaz, from from guys like that. You need five
through nine to hit, and luckily the five through nine
(16:18):
guys are actually the ones hitting the most now. At
least off of September, Alec Bohm seventeen for thirty seven
over his final nine games.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
H Marsh hit three point forty. In September, Stott hit
three thirteen with four homers. Stott is top ten in
the league in ops since I believe it's July twenty fourth,
which was the.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Birth of his second son, He's been one of the
best hitters in baseball.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Over then it comes down to the depth.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
And yes, obviously, if Kyle Schober goes oh for thirteen
in the NLDS, they're not gonna win the series.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Hey, look at what Iron Judge is doing with the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Well, Aaron Judge is one of the biggest postseason frauds.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Of all time. That's probably why pretty alarmed.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
So that's what it really comes down to for me.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
You're Harrison Baters, Uh, your your Brandon Marsh's your right fielder,
whether that's Kepler or Castianos.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
And I do want to get into that a little bit.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Because the Phillies have been playing Kepler against righty's in right.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Field, which I think has been the right move.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
See, I think we know how the last you know,
few months have gone for Nick Castianos, and it's actually
been the opposite for Max Kepler. He's he's he's really
hit the ball well over the last I would say
like two or three months.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
But Nick Castiano's in twelve NLDS.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Games with the Phillies three ninety six average with nineteen hits,
five home runs, twelve twelve RBIs and eight runs scored
in twelve NLDS games. For some reason, Nick Castianos goes crazy.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
In the NLDS. I don't know why. I don't know
what it is.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Maybe it was the team both years it was against
the Braves, so maybe that's it. But there's something there
to that I don't know. I still believe that Max
Kepler will be in right field on Saturday, starting over
Nick Castianos, But part of me also sits there and says,
I think there's a possibility that if the Kepler thing
(18:25):
goes south early, I think you could see an early
hook and even if they feel right out there in
Game two, I think that could potentially maybe be a
Nick Castianas start.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
All right, we'll continue with that that thought, because I
did want to ask you what your expectations are for
the outfield and for the lineup in Game one. Here
is we will get that lineup of course coming up
on Saturday. But if you had to look into your
crystal ball, where are you at right now, Luke? And
I'm look that I've had a few discussions over the
last few weeks about Castianos. He has had some good
(19:02):
runs in the postseason, but we have to be fair,
he's also had some bad runs in the postseason, so
I don't want to make him out to be Barry Bonds.
I also don't think it's that bad of a deal
if he's coming off the bench to be a pinch hitter.
Like I'm sure there's some numbers that are gonna be
thrown back in my face on that, but I think
Castiano's in a pitch hitting role is somebody that you
(19:22):
can probably get up there, and you know what, if
he comes up with that base hit, that.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Could lead to a little bit more of a spark.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
I get that vibe from Casty, So I don't think
it's all It ends badly if Casty isn't starting this game.
But people disagree with me on that one, We'll see
what happens.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Your thoughts though, Yeah, my biggest thing with Cassianos is
that no matter how he's hitting, you know, either regular
season or postseason, he's he's never.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Afraid of the moment. Yeah, whether it's the World Series.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Listen, he might not have a good World Series, but
he's not going to be afraid of going up and
hitting the bab. There's some guys over the past years.
I mean, for example, Boom last year. I thought Boom
was scared of the moment last year, and I think
that's partially why he got benched. Castianis I don't feel
that way. So, you know, in a in a pinch
(20:16):
hitting role, if that if the Dodgers go to a
lefty in the fifth inning and the Phillies get Shoeo
Tani out somehow in the fifth inning, and they go
to a lefty reliever and it's set to have Max
Kepler up, Nick Castianis is going to be hitting there
and he's gonna be in right field for the rest
of the game. So I think that's kind of where
(20:38):
it's at with Cassy. I still think Kepler will start
on Saturday, just because what they've been doing has been working.
But if there's one thing about Castianas, he's never afraid
of the moment. And I'll tell you this, he's never
afraid to swing the bat either. And when you're in
the playoffs, I understand, you know, everyone's favorite word this
time of year is the Phillies chase rate. That's that's
(21:02):
their favorite saying. I'd rather guys chase than go up
there and look at a called third strike right down
the middle. So cas Banas isn't afraid of the moment,
and whether he's in there or not, he's going to
get some important at bats, whether it's as a starter
or as.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
A pinch hitter.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Well, I will just say this, I think the year's
twenty twenty two. I could be mistaken on that, but
the Phillies have the most postseason games played in major
leagues since that time.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
It could be twenty twenty three. Yeah, something like that.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
But probably I'm not afraid of any of these guys
from the Phillies perspective to be afraid of the moment.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
To be honest, I'm not. Every week I'm not either,
you know.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
I think great Boam last year.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
I think Alec Bohm last year is a lot different
player than Boom was this year.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Alec Bohm was going.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Through a horrendous second half skid last year, and I
think that carried over into the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
And I are doan getting dowast with Champagne.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Luke that's what I want. She responsible for the last year.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
I don't think she's responsible because well, yeah it did
happen last year. Who knows he put it together. Look,
it's a different animal. It's a different animal out there.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Playoff.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Bick saw a guy drop a ball center field for
the Guardians yesterday.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Yeah, the second with the Guardians.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Yeah, because the Guardians are life or death and they
and they have to have a guy make his MLB
debut in Game two of.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
The Wild Cards series at.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
The centerfielder then yesterday that was his first ever Major
League Baseball game.
Speaker 7 (22:33):
To be fair to Bowm and to Luke's point too,
it's like, yeah, maybe the moment was too big for him.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
He also was.
Speaker 7 (22:39):
Really bad down the stretch of last season. We were
having conversations in the off season whether we're gonna trade
they were gonna trade him or not up until the deadline.
So it's like it wasn't just he was playing really
a baseball. He stepped up to the playoff plate and
then started folding. He was really bad down the stretch,
and that cold streak led over into the playoffs and
his eventual benching.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
You know, there's a lot to like about this team
right now, and it's just they're gonna need everything, all
systems have to beg to beat the Dodgers. The Dodgers
are now the favorite to win it all, rightfully, so
we knew that that would be the case. We knew
that they were going to handle the Reds to nothing.
They did, and here we are, and I know everybody's
saying the same thing, like this should be something different,
(23:17):
should be the CS.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
I don't give a damn, like, bring it on, let's go.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
I wish it was.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
And I'm not even saying that because I wish it
was the NLCS. I'm saying that because I wish this
was a seven game series. This matchup deserves to be
seven and not five.
Speaker 7 (23:34):
But are are you into the same camp that I
think Shawn myself are in a lot of baseball fans
around the league that this is the World Series. I mean,
anything it happened, we saw the collapse against the Dodgers,
but this is the World Series.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Ever wins this series will be the eventual World Series champion.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I agree, Yeah, I think whoever wins the series is
going to win the World Series.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
It's it's gonna be a war man Like I don't.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
I don't have any other word, verb, adjective, whatever for it.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
This is going to be an all out war.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
I think this series goes five and it's gonna be
I think Game five is gonna be a nail bighter.
I think every inning is going to be a nail bighter.
We are going to want to rip our hair out
at parts of this series. We're gonna go nuts at
parts of this series. But once again, I think tomorrow
or I think Saturday not tomorrow. Yeah, is the biggest
(24:28):
game of their season, whether this goes five to four
to three anything, I think Game one is the biggest.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
I'm gonna do my part down there, especially pre game.
Please live from the tailgate, got Penn State football on
the TV. We're hanging out in the parking lot. Beautiful,
Oh my god. We got San Diego weather outside right
now today, the next day, the next day, the next
day after that, seventy.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Five San Diego.
Speaker 6 (24:54):
Yeah, Penn State is Would Games five be Saturday, Luke, Yes, Yes,
so game one Saturday, Game two, Monday, Monday, they have
an off.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Day then Wednesday, Thursday, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Off day, Tuesday, Game three and four Wednesday, Thursday, off day, Friday,
Game five, if necessary, would be on Saturday. One game
at the time, one game of time right now, and
that's all they can do. I did sort of throw
together a lineup of of of how I think they're
gonna roll out Saturday, all right, So I have Trey
(25:32):
leading off, obviously playing short. Rob Thompson said the second
tray is healthy. He's back in the lead all spot,
no offense or pops.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
I clearly agree with him.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
That's like the song that's playing right now as we're
going through the lineup here down it says is bank
Park Schwart.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
We're hitting second d H obviously, Harper hitting third first base.
I think Alec Boone is gonna hit fourth to start
this series. I think they're gonna ride a hot September,
and I I think I think that's probably their best
option based off of right handed bats as of right now. Granted,
(26:08):
if if Bater goes out and go three for four
and Bom comes out and goes oh for five, then
I think Game two they could switch things around. But
I have Alec Bohm hitting fourth, I have March hitting
fifth playing left. I've Hireson Bader hitting sixth playing center.
I have Real Muto obviously behind the plate seventh. Max
Kepler I do have in right field hitting eighth, and
(26:31):
Bryson stopped playing second, hitting ninth.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
That's kind of where I'm at.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
I think the only potential switches there are are if
they were to play Castie. I still don't think that's
gonna happen, but maybe they flip Baiter JT. But I
don't think having Bader hit seventh is a great idea.
I think he should be up in the sixth hole.
Speaker 7 (26:53):
So fourth through nine in your lineup, Luke, are all
those guys leashes really short? Is that kind of what
you're saying, where if Boem struggles, he could be that
four spot. If Kepler struggles, he could be gone. It
sounds like you're saying that all those guys one, two, three,
has decided four through nine, those guys are gonna have
really short leashes in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
I think Kepler has a game leash, and I think
Boem has a spot in a lineup leash, and I
think they're both very short. If Max Kepler goes out
there and goes oh for five and strikes out four
times and they lose Game one and they play a
writing in game two. That's gonna be Nick Casianos's spot.
I think in in right Boom, I think once again,
(27:34):
I think they're going to continue to ride Boem in
the four hole unless some other right handed hitter gets
really like a Baiter or a JT. I think those
are really your only two options unless they play Castianos
and they think about putting Castianos there.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
But that four spot is big.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
What you get from Boem or Casti or JT or
Bait or whoever hits in that four hole is so
big because Schwarber and Harper are going to do their
thing they always do, but it's not all going to
be home runs, and you're gonna have to get those
guys in. They've they've struggled with it in the past.
(28:13):
They've had to put Castianus into the four hole last
NLDS because Boem.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Was was flaring all over the place.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
They've they've they've run into issues with driving in Harper
and Schwarber in the postseason in the past because they
haven't really had a true clean up hitter.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Alec Bohm's not a cleanup hitter.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
He hits thirteen home runs a year, so it's big
from them Alec Bohm could not hit a single home
run this entire season. If he finds the gap like
Alec Bohm does, that's that's all you need him to
do there.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Well, we've got some interesting stuff happening out there in
Cleveland six to one, and Cleveland has some action happening
right now on the base path on the bottom of
the eighths.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Will keep you up there there, they're scoreless out there
on the rig.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Kwan got a hit.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Yes, Stephen Kuan just came through with a double right there.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Moved to the Cubs game. There we go.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Let me let me ask you this.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
We'll close up shop on this one so people aren't
bothering in the day of the game. Who are you
looking at from the same game parlay standpoint? What are
we looking at? Who's gonna have a day? Man, who's
gonna have a day? Versus sho Otani.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Yeah, that's a really good question, Sean.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Is this is this a left left the Schwarber home run.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Schwarber shorter home run, Harper home run.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Wow, dude, that I.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Don't know if it's gonna I don't know if it's
gonna happen off of show. Hey, I don't know if
it's gonna happen off of a reliever. I think one
of those guys goes yard, and I think both of them, like,
all right, I do.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
I think might collapse if both of them.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Go Sean, If somebody goes yard in the first inning
of that game for the Phillies, yeah, I bet my
life they.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Win Game one.
Speaker 7 (29:57):
Well, I mean, I mean, I'm with you, but I
was there last year. I was there last year at
NLDS Game one when you referenced it earlier. Schwarber went
yard and that place went bananas, and we thought, this
is gonna be a nice game one win.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Didn't end up that way. It's it's definitely very different,
different vibes around the team. Different.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
If Schwarber comes out after a fifty six home run
season and Joe Otani's first inning ever pitching in the playoff,
Schwarber takes him deep, that place is going to explode,
absolutely explode that.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Goosebumps thinking about it. Wow, you don't got three outs? Yeah,
he's already out.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
It's just three hours and it starts yep out after
recording three three outs. Just look, it's Stuart Die. Cubbies
are up one and I believe it's bases loaded right now?
All right, let's keep it moving, Luke.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Aust what inning are they in?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Sorry, I just missed second inning. God they pulled him
in the second inning, I think so.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Then I couldn't imagine having yeah about it, seeing of
guys off your bench.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Three dude faces are loaded with nobody out. Yeah, you
gotta pull them. You can't sit on that you got.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Can you imagine pulling a ranger after one inning and
a must win game? Say bizarre, Luke, you guys got
a score prediction for Saturday.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Or what Saturday?
Speaker 4 (31:19):
I will go somewhere around the lines of like five
two six three.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
So I'll say six to three. I'm close on five
three fills.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
Ye, I'll take the over over seven and a half.
I can get there at five three three gets there?
What did you say, Sam, five three pills. I'm gonna
go six three six three fills. I like that.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
We all have the fireworks. Yeah, all the Phillies win it.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
No, I'm picking against them. Come on, man, all right,
daily take a roll out of me. You're the best.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
We'll look.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
We'll ride off into Saturday because I am golfing tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
So I am taking a day. Oh yeah, nineteen.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Played not in the day.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
I can't wait. I'm so excited.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I got a friend, Yo, we got the We got
the out and coming up swinging and ding it out.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
And on the twentieth, let's.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Go so swinging and ding it out. Also is I
have to pull up the count.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
You better not have anything going on. You've been on
the team for a while.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
No, I don't have anything going on during the day.
But that is potential game six of the NLCS that night,
So we could.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
So we could. If the Phillies beat.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
The Dodgers and their NLCS gets to a six game,
could go swinging and ding it open right into a
Phillies NLCS games game.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Game six is gonna be away. It would be home,
yeah versus the Brewers. What if home game? What if?
Speaker 4 (32:42):
What if the other team wins the whod the Brewers playing,
If it's the it's on the road, if there's another
two games got at home? Yeah and Milwaukee? Okay, all right,
something to keep right ahead of ourselves.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
No.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Matter what you're on.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
The swinging and ding of team I around.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
I got my guy Fresh, I got Luke Arcane, we
got two sticks calling calling is good, and I'm a
guy that I hit a couple of shots every once
in a while, and definitely some putt.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Game feels good. Game feels good.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
The handicaps down under six now, so we're we're coming
for it.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
We're coming for the crown, all.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Right, get five handicap went down to a five point
seven today.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
I'm cutting this up and I'm sending it to Moose.
I'll tell you right now, what do you get? No,
this is the best outing that you could play it,
I promise you. I've played in a fun of it
and the fact is there is so much going on,
so much to win, so much activation is happening, and
it's a damn good time. It's not cutthroat, but man, unbelievable.
(33:46):
Course of course. The Legacy Club, Yeah in cherry Hill,
look forward to a swinging ing it. Check them out.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
All right, Luke, you're the best. You're damn right. Got
to order you the best. I'll catch up.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Yeah we are.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
That's the group because we're coming from Conci essentially, how
fresh is coming from Malvern.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
That's a trend. Oh man. So we were like what
are we doing?
Speaker 4 (34:11):
I'm like, yeah, I'm not driving, that's for sure, And
I'm like, might even get a hotel room over there,
but who knows?
Speaker 7 (34:17):
Have you uh when you just said Malvern, mayde me
think of this? Have you seen this new show task HBO?
Speaker 2 (34:22):
I heard about unbelievable? Yeah? You never watched Mary of Vastown?
Speaker 7 (34:26):
Yes, same creator that also takes place in Delco area
by Malvern. Who's the actor in the dude, Mark Ruf,
he's money up, he's amazing. And then the other guy
I'm forgetting his name, but he's awesome too, amazing show.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Did you see he was at the Eagles guy? Yeah
he was. Do you see how small he is?
Speaker 7 (34:44):
All those actors and the other guy who's the other
co stars like a diehard Giants fan. So we refuse
to wear Eagles gear. But it's an unbelievable show. You
gotta you gotta watch it.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Ah. Wow, that was an awful error.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
Dude got him though safe. How many Skuys scored there too?
Six to three? My goodness.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Well, he's upset that the ball is throwing so hard
at him. All right, So the.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Picture a ground ball to first first baseman for the
Tigers throws it over to the pitcher covering first base,
and he had some mustard on it.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
No, lie, but you got to catch the ball. And
he does it. He doesn't catch it, rolls over to
the screen. Two runs score. We got six to three.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
So now that is over watch this watch the first
base me he fires it. Can look at the first
basement like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Hit him in the head.
Speaker 7 (35:39):
That's in his gloves. He gets his eye off the
ball and goes right into his dome. Dude, playoff baseball.
Playoff baseball will chew you up and spit you out.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Got him.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
He's out at second though, So how many outs is
that too? That is he the third out? Yeah, he's out,
So that's it. That will put an end to the inning,
which is a big deal because if they got.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
This other run, anything has happened.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Possible there six to three ITAs two outs yep, so
he's three all right, So he's got six to three
right now, bottom are heading to the top of the ninth,
all right, Sam's a fun show. Speaking of Mark Ruffle,
one of my favorite movies, and it comes from how
good the media is and I know we refuse to
(36:25):
even think about it. Yeah, as far as like the
big bad media, and I'm right there with you. I
can't stomach CNN, MSNBC or Fox. I can't stomach those three.
If you remove those three, that's fine. But when people
start talking ill about the media, I get super, super
frustrated because I have been in newsrooms where people work
(36:47):
their ass off and it ain't about you know, telling
people no, these are people that are covering the local
stories for you and your community. Like you want to
live in a world without media, knock yourself out. That
goes meteorologists.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
I know that. Yeah, yeah exactly, I should say, yeah,
well we can.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Bottom line is this, you know, I always getting my
soapbox at the end of these shows with you.
Speaker 8 (37:10):
I don't know why I want to eat man the
spot Spot You need to watch my favorite. Oh it's tremendous,
so good. And that's why the media is needed for
stuff like that where people are trying to bury things
and it's like, wait a minute, you get people paid
(37:31):
to do their job. I'm shutting up. Let's keep it
moving here.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
Daily ticket, fun stuff, Sam, great job across the board,
super jam packed day.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Today. We had Luke Arcaney.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Deep Dive, Phillies, Dodgers, Natalie I got off talking about
her show Breakfast for the Birds right here at ten
a m. Every Sunday, she's cooking up bison burgers. How
come you don't cook rice? Bison burgers cook like that.
I can do chicken, rice, salmon, chicken mary needed right now?
Nice little soy.
Speaker 7 (38:02):
I mean, you guys haven't eaten in twenty four hours
and you're talking about food right now.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Yeah, we gotta get it.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
When when do you get to eat? The second I
leave this place? So you're fast started.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
When like around six seven last night? I don't. I
don't usually fast too, but I haven't eat this so
there's no like a certain time that you guys sun
down the sundown.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Oh okay, yeah, that makes sense, all right, But I'm
gonna eat when I get at you.
Speaker 7 (38:24):
I don't usually do this. This is the first one
do what fast? Oh a right, you're supposed to, but
I don't usually do it.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
And and Sam is working, He's the guy that's never
stopped working. On Yan Kapoor, Yes, what is Jan Kapoor?
If you could break that down.
Speaker 7 (38:37):
For me, it's the holiest day of the year. It's
like the day you repent. That's where you don't fast.
That's why you fast, Why you don't eat anything as
you're repenting for everything that you've done the last year.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
And it's just it's just do you have a lot
to repent for? You could say that maybe a thing
or two.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
Get honesty over here on this show. I love it
all right, Well, enjoy some grub. What are you gonna get?
Speaker 2 (39:02):
I don't know, there's some food at home for me.
I might stop it. Stop at Cadoba though, Oh there
you go. You say Cudoba Codoba? How do you say Goodoba?
It's a Q?
Speaker 7 (39:12):
What do you even good Doba? How do you get
cue when you say that's a c? Q's can make
that sound all right?
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Yeah? I guess Q and on. Actually that's not cut.
It's could do goodobs. I'm a Godoba guy. Over chip
Way Chippo so much. You and I we're the only ones. Yeah,
we are. Everyone on my chicken, the bowls, the case
of everything I have.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
Yeah, Chipotle is is not even close. I would rather
skip it all together.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
Chipotle. We're the only people. You're the only person I've
ever met that actually right there on City Avenue, go
bang it out. It's might go to for years.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
You the man, Sam Austry find him on socials s
O S H T R Y resident Nick fan.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
But they won.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
Today and celebrating the victory the score. Make to check
them out there all right once again. Now I'm off tomorrow, baby,
I am off tomorrow. I am golfing. I'm taking a day.
We're back on Saturday, We're back on Sunday. We don't
stop Monday, Tuesday. We're rolling right through with the Phillies
all that. So this is the place to be. But
I'm gonna take a day tomorrow and golf at the
(40:18):
nineteen twelve club.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Can't wait.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Gorgeous day. I'm gonna get out there and enjoy it.
But Sam, always a pleasure on a Thursday, sir. A
great job across the board. Continue to follow you on socials,
red you at the score. Everybody, good luck in those
places coming up next, though, Football is King Nick McLay,
one of, if not the hottest handicapper from coast to coast,
one half of the electric duo on Football is King
is coming your way right here on the other side.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Don't touch that dial top de piece
