Speaker 1 (00:24):
Football Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Here on the Daily Ticket, seam Brads riding solo coming
up to six o'clock off things Xes into U Sebastian,
the two Matty g Philadelphia Union conversation.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Always fun to hear. What they have to say is
they keep us up to date. Big game coming up tomorrow.
I got to find a way to win a game.
And for some of these teams over the postseason action.
As far as Baseball keeps saying postseason action, we're not there.
Eight nine games, ten games for some of course, all
eyes on the postseason and potentially who will be left
(01:00):
out of the mix. And let's fire up DraftKings sports
book and take a look similar numbers here, but some
of the games that we have going off this evening.
And that's the reason why you really need to pay
attention more than anything, because a lot of these teams
are playing for something right now, and you don't have
to go any further than the Phillies and the Diamondbacks.
Of course, the Diamondbacks are chasing down that third and
(01:22):
final wildcard spot currently owned by the New York Mets
two game advantage over the Diamondbacks at this point in time.
The Diamondbacks season has been insane. Think about it. Think
about everything that they gave up swar like, think about
all the players that they gave up six total players.
I believe that they traded at the deadline, and here
they are knocking on the playoffs, knocking on the door.
(01:44):
Gotta give them a lot of credit. Something in the
air down there in the desert. Although they were winning
on the road, I think, didn't they just sweep the
last two. This is a hot team right now. Minus
won twenty six. Ryan Nelson, I don't know if they
swept that they force say that they won the Bull
Series that way. Nelson on the mountain for the Diamondbacks
Walker Tiwan Walker, here's the balls plus one oh four. Now,
(02:07):
Taiwan has had his moments this year that he's actually
pitched well, so he isn't an automatic fade.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
But this is a really good squad right now, and
so are the Phillies.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
That's the issue because they are Just because you think
tywe Walkers are gonna give it up, doesn't mean that
the Bats are gonna go silent. Could very well be
a knock them down type of drag them out game
where we get some fireworks, right An ugly type game,
eleven runs. I don't know, I don't know, don't really
have a feel for it right now, because the sense
of urgency is there, of but it feels like it's
(02:38):
one sided more than anything as far as the Diamondbacks
are concerned. But again, that's definitely something to pay attention there.
I was talking about some homework assignments. How about this
The Cleveland Guardians. They're a team to watch out for
right now. They just swept the Detroit Tigers. They are
three and a half out of first place. They have
ten games left. Oh, by the way, they have three
(02:59):
more games against the Detroit Tigers to win the division.
You can get the Guardians at plus six point fifty. Now,
that's a stretch to believe that they can get the
job done, but the math is still there, the opportunities
are still there. Something to keep our eyes on as
far as that is concerned. Another matchup that we need
to be paying attention to that does have playoff implications,
(03:23):
and for my money, doesn't get any bigger than this,
because this is a game that or this is a
division I have a play on, and I took the
Mariners Woo Brian Woo taking on Hunter Brown. It's a
three game series. The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners
right now going head to head for a three game
(03:45):
series in Houston. Now, to point the people to the
right direction, Astros and Mariners are currently all tied at
the top of the West. Whoever wins this series will
have the tie breaker. This is about as big as
it gets. And we are September nineteenth, nine games left
for a lot of teams out there. This is playoff
(04:06):
baseball happening tonight, tomorrow and Sunday in Houston. No, your
don Alvarez Oltuve has been struggling the Mariners back and
I had a really good vibe on the Mariners. I
don't anymore. I just I'm hoping for the best. But
it is a really, really fun series to watch this weekend.
And while we're there talking about other games of substance here,
(04:31):
as far as Major League Baseball is concerned, let me
pull up the wild Card numbers, because right here, right now,
you are looking at the Cincinnati Reds in the Chicago
Cubs currently. Excuse me, the Cubs are in. They have
a nine game advantage as far as you know. Earlier
(04:52):
today I clicked on this tab and it was showing
me twenty twenty four, and I.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Was like, wait a minute, the Dodgers have the best
record in baseball? What is going on right now?
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Do that? No?
Speaker 1 (05:02):
And I'm like, twenty twenty four. Yeah, stupid things happen
from time time. Anyways, this popped up twenty twenty four,
twenty twenty five. Right now.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yes, the Cubs and the Padres and the Mets are
your three teams currently holding three wild card spots. Cubs
seem like they are fine, They're good to go. Plus
nine advantage, Padres plus four advantage. With all the times
that the Dodgers have been losing, Padres haven't been able
to do much there. They have eighty three wins, trailing
the eighty six win LA Dodgers for the division. However,
(05:29):
they look like they're going to make the playoffs, and
you know, I would imagine that that's probably gonna be
locked in here over the next two nights. They're not
Cubs are they are locked into the playoffs. Mets are
right behind the San Diego Padres. And then you got
that Diamondbacks and the Reds and the Giants. Diamondbacks and
Cincinnati Reds two games out both teams. So you got
(05:52):
the Reds and the Cub's going head to head, So
the Cubs know that the Reds are playing for a
little something there tonight. It's really intriguing, said Giants. Reds
and Diamondbacks have an opportunity to catch the New York Mets.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Will that be the case? Like I said, as far
as the.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Math ain't math, and you only got nine games to
make it happen, and I don't believe there's any head
to head matchups there, So that's going to be really
really tough. But the Diamondbacks, as long as they continue
to win, could potentially get in there. And again they're
taking on the Phillies. What are they gonna get from
the Phills. It looks like the Phills will be the
two seed. It's gonna be really hard for them to
(06:30):
catch the brew Crew for the overall number one spot
as the Brewers have ninety four wins and the Phillies
have ninety one wins, best record in baseball. How well
about that? Sports fans did not have the Milwaukee Brewers
being that at the top dog at the as far
as total wins are concerned.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Really intriguing stuff.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Man it's gonna be a great postseason, potential, solid matchups.
I'm talking about best markets out there, whether it's La
and San Diego, New York, Toronto.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
They're going to win the AL East.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Eighty nine and sixty four Tigers have some fighting them.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
You saw what they were able to do last year.
It's no fluke.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
The Astros Mariners, who's getting in the socks could potentially
be in.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
It's gonna be a fun, fun postseason.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
But all eyes on us here in Philadelphia with the
Red October. As far as to make the playoffs, let's
take a look at this.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
That's seedings.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Looking at teams to make the playoffs as far as
yes or no?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Not seeing it? Why am I not seeing it?
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Series props, World Series specials. Philly's still leading away a
plus four to twenty five to win the World Series.
You know they're not showing on the yes or no
unless I'm missing it. But they do have some series prices. Okay,
we like that. Let's check out these serious prices. First
of all, the Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners, which
(08:04):
is the big one here, Let's see. Let's see right now,
you can get the ashes or minus one twenty Mariners
minus one ten. Nothing really too crazy happening, and that
shows you how evenly matched both of those teams are.
I already have a play on the Seattle Mariners. I
don't have any interest in adding more the Philadelphia Phillies though,
or minus one twenty five in this series against the Diamondbacks.
That's pretty interesting stuff there as far as that is concerned. Finally,
(08:28):
real quick, if we can the award market is pretty
much wrapped up. I think you can still make the
case for cal Raley. I do believe he can. If
he gets the sixty, I think he wins it.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
I do. I think he's got a pretty good chance
at winning it.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Right now, Judges minus four to twenty five cal Raley
three to one. I took a fly around him when
he hit two home runs, and he think he got
the fifty six right a couple days ago late push
it was at plus four seventy five. Why not Now
I'm invested. Now I have something on that market. I
didn't take Judge earlier this year when he was even money.
I didn't touch Raleigh when he was a little bit
(09:03):
like what sixteen eighteen to one, plus four to seventy five,
I got it. Why not took a little bit of
a fly or sprinkle on it? Now I have a
play at that. I did hear Jonathan bond Tobo is
a great follow over at VIS and he said this
earlier today, and I thought he was onto something that
when it comes to this market, and maybe it's more
than just the MVP, you can roll this into all awards, right,
(09:26):
there should be more layers that you can play on,
meaning this cal Rawley going to win. I would imagine
if you asked ten Diehard, our good friend Colby, he
was anti cal Rawley and he had his reasons. And
if you look at back at Baseball Card, you can
make the case that yeah, absolutely, Aaron Judge Farnaway is
(09:46):
the number one guy this year, best player in American
League Baseball. He needs to be the MVP. But so
if you think that cal Raley can win, yeah, all right, Well,
if you do bet him and he doesn't win, you lose.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
That's obvious. But what about if we can wager on
first place votes? Right?
Speaker 3 (10:04):
There needs to be an extra layer to this market
because it's all or nothing, and you know, with that,
I don't know if I would tell people like, yeah,
you should bet X if it's all or nothing. But however,
take a look at this market first place votes. I
do believe that I do believe that there will be
plenty of baseball writers out there that will be impressed
by the fact that Raleigh plays the toughest position. Think
(10:26):
about what he does as far as dealing with the picture,
the pictures throughout the course of the season, relieving relievers.
Why can I talk bullpen pictures coming out the assignments defensively. Oh,
by the way, you ever played catcher before in July
where you have to strap that you know, the the
chess protector and the you know the pads. And then
(10:49):
we watched JT here in Philadelphia. How many times do
you see JT getting beat up? Taking one to the groin,
taking a shot to the neck, to the shoulder, to
the arm, to the elbow. Right, that's happening to cal Rawley.
And all he's doing is setting records. Most home runs
franchise history, most home runs for a switch hitter, could
potentially get the sixty we're talking about. He's entering territory
(11:12):
that like nine players ever and the best of the best.
We're talking about Ruth Maris bonds, but like guys like
that when it comes to home runs, he's in that
territory this year. So I do believe there will be
plenty of voters out there that say, you know what,
cal Ralely deserves my vote, not to slight judge in
(11:33):
the littlest, you know, in the slightest, but ultimately you
have to give it up to cal Raly's the position
that he's playing and what he's been able to do
Italian up all those stats and by the way, the
team's success if they win the division. I think he's
got a pretty good shot at winning this award. Plus
four seventy five. Took a flyer on that. Good luck
(11:55):
Kyle Schwarber nineteen plus nineteen hundred showy Otani, that's his award.
I don't think we need to discuss that any further
than that. Pretty much, other than that, everything is taken
care of. Kate Horton minus three forty, he's not going
to get touched as far as Rookie of the Year
is concerned. You can possibly talk to me about Garrett
Crochet at plus one thousand schoolbul was about to win
(12:17):
another cy Young and maybe there's some fatigue there for
some voters. Crochet's had a really good season. He was
my preseason pick. Not really going to get any love
on that one. And then Paul Skins. Everybody had Paul Skins.
He's a slammed on. Christopher Sanchez is going to end
the season. There was a number two option. Did not
see that happening plus fourteen hundred. All right, that's a
(12:38):
Major League Baseball action for you. There again, homework assignment
come in your way this weekend with the Astros and
the Mariners. Finally we will end on this note. And
just to put a bow in this bad boy. The
week that we had, what a week.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
He was. Good grief. I'm ready for an adult beverage tonight.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
But Nick McClay. Nick McClay checking in Texas Tech Utah
minus three fifty seven and a half now up the
minus three and a half top two teams as of
now odds Wise and DraftKings to win the Big twelve.
Utah the favorite at plus three seventy Texa Tech right
behind him at plus at three to ninety. Also two
(13:18):
teams that are in the top fourteen in total scoring,
with Texas Tech being number one in the whole country
averaging fifty eight points and scoring over sixty in their
first two games. Utah number fourteen in the country and
scoring averaging over forty five and a half per game.
Texas Tech spent a ton in the offseason, as he
pointed out, and after the first three or it's paying
(13:38):
off after the first three weeks in the season. Obviously
strength to schedule it plays as well. But both teams
that are still putting up the numbers. Does he have
a play on this? That's the question here. Oh, but
in the end give me Utah at home thirty one
twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
I like it. I like it.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
That's where I'm at as well. I take you on
that one. That's a Nick McClay special.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
