Speaker 1 (00:03):
That's a daily ticket with you here on a Tuesday.
Chabre's riding solo coming up a little bit later. We'll
get back to the Madness with Ryan beef coiled and
of course five o'clock all things Sixers in the NBA.
We're still talking about the sixers. When will this? I
think we have eighteen more games left than the regular season.
We're getting closer, getting closer to putting this one in
(00:24):
the ground six feet deep and then moving on. But
NBA front and center for us. Of course, playoffs will
be here before you know it. And as I said,
with college basketball, the Madness Selection Sunday happening this weekend.
But folks, all eyes on the NFL right now. Free
agency happening right here. Eagles made a big trade and
some new people will be heading to new locations all
(00:47):
across the league. But our next guest, he's locked into Indianapolis,
and I would assume that after this season that he
just had. I don't imagine you're gonna let a guy
like Zay You're Franklin out of your building anytime soon.
And he joins us right now, Philly's own West Oak Lane.
Zaire Franklin joins the Daily Ticket, Zayer, what's up, man,
(01:09):
How you doing today?
Speaker 2 (01:11):
I'm good, I'm good. Appreciate you guys having me on today.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Absolutely, man. I know you made the car wash last
week here at iHeartRadio and you hoped down with the
fine folks and the Riseing Grind Morning Show and power
and all of that. So I can't thank you enough
for popping up on here today. Unfortunately I was unable
to make it last week. But you got a lot
going on, man. I'll tell you what, zaire. I'm well
aware who you are, where you came from, of course Syracuse,
(01:35):
and what you're doing with the Indianapolis Colts, But I
did not know a lot about Schalisa's Angels as far
as the the gala coming up here on Friday, the
flag football that you're participating in, you are doing a ton.
Talk a little bit about your foundation, please, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
So you know, Sheelisa's Angels is a foundation, you know,
created in twenty nineteen, named it after my late mother
who passed away while.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I was sixteen.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
And you know, the whole goal was just for us,
you know, to try to help mentor and expose young
women from the city to just you know better opportunities
they may have not had the opportunity to get otherwise.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
So you know, we've done, you know, really cool things
like take them to Google, take them to Meta.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
We took them to the sixt's headquarters into the building.
I think this year we're going to take them to
the NFL League offices in New York.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
So just a bunch of cool stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
We got the scholarship gala, you know, coming up on
March twentieth, next Thursday, so that'd be great, you know,
just to get everybody there to not only celebrate what,
you know, the achievements and things that we've done in
the past, but also starting a new initiative, given a
scholarship to a young man from my neighborhood in Westoll
(02:51):
claim to go to the high school that I went to,
which was LaSalle College High School.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
So cool man. Yeah, I got a couple of buddies.
We all have buddies that went to Lasal of course.
And uh, everybody pays attention to what you guys are
doing and what the prep's doing. So it's if it's
not you guys, it's them. If it's not them, it's
you guys. So uh uh, your your mother man, your
late mother, and I lost my father to uh right
(03:17):
around that time that you just brought up, what is
she if you if she could look down as she
is right now, what is she thinking? With everything you're
doing at the professional level, this foundation is incredible. You're
looking at the activities as you just mentioned, there's just
so much more than just the foundation. What you're doing
for a lot of these young kids with the career
days and like you said, with meta, the Google, the
(03:39):
trip to the seventy six yers practice facility, I would
imagine that your mother is extremely proud looking down upon you.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Man.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah, I also you know, she was very you know,
soft spoken, you know she uh she you know, love
with a big heart.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
She you know, she was really my motivation. You know.
I remember being, you know, from a very young age and.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Just watching her work, you know, a double you know,
as a nurse while also.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Going to school to get her.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Criminal justice degree, and you know, she just inspired me.
You know, she showed me what hardwork was really like.
She showed me how to just to continue to dream,
even if you know, the second chances wasn't always perfect.
So when she got sick when I was in fifth
grade or so you know, it was really tough for her.
She was disabled for pretty much the rest of her life,
(04:31):
but you know.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
She was always there.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
She still came to all the games at Lasaule still
was a big supporter, and you know, I'm just I'm
just glad that I could make her name, you know,
in stone and just honor her.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Every chance I gave her. So so it's.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Special for me, very cool. So I appreciate that comments
there on that man great to hear. And of course
Alsa's Angels dot org is where you can find all
the information. The scholarship gala going down Thursday, March twentieth.
It's plenty of time for you to get involved out there. People,
cocktail receptions, silent auction, all that and more details available, actually,
says Angels dot Org. All right, Ziah, let's talk a
(05:09):
little bit about the season that was. Man, you led
the league in tackles. That is just something right there.
I'll tell you. I was just when I opened up
the show, I said, if there's three categories that I
could lead the league in, it would be forced fumbles,
its sacks, and its tackles. Man, how were you able
to do that throughout the course of seventeen games, staying
healthy and just being dominated weekend week out.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Well, first of all, got they definitely clean till everybody
goes in my body guards. But just playing relentlessly, you know,
just you know, when I was a young player in
the league, had.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
A coach that linebacker job is to hit the ball
every place. So that's just how I played.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
I mean, you don't really just you know, if it's
time of playing as time as I can have my
team money.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Excellent, Zarah're breaking up just a little bit, man, I
don't know what happened there, but yeah, so from the
cook Oh, you're right, you're right. From the Colts season
that was you guys have got some moving parts already,
you guys are I saw you on Instagram showing some
love to some players that left the Colts and of
course are cashing in so big time player perspective there
and supporting your own uh but with new names coming in,
(06:15):
just ready to go for this upcoming season. But I
would imagine it took a little bit of time hero
take us through once the season ends. Were you able
to get away for a little bit, take some time
for yourself?
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Oh, you definitely you have to you know, I'm season
more than it was just an extremely emotional roller company,
you know, just one of those seasons where its demanded
a lot and mentally monthly.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
You just gotta take that chance to kind of stick back.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Obviously, everybody's disappointed by the seasons other than Eagles.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Of course, you know, you don't win the.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Championships, so you gotta gotta sit back and kind of
reflect about it.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
You know, why you are anywhere, and you know, how
can you move forward?
Speaker 4 (06:54):
But I just think, you know, the further you get
away from the seasons, you were able to kind.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Of look back and see it for what it actually
he was, and it's like, Okay, you know we did
play some.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Good ball, you know, we did you know, make some plays.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
We had some stuff there, some optimistic things to build on.
We in a position, you know, with a couple of
more playmakers, you know, to actually be a ruin of
the best defenses in the league. And you know, I
just you know, shout out to you know, Chris Ballard.
You know, I think he did a fantastic job the
first day, you know, just showing up the secondary with
Tavarius and Kim bye them. So obviously those guys got
(07:27):
to come in and perform. But it definitely was a
good sign paying attention.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
I love it, Zayer, and I'm sure Colt's faith will
love that as well. Again, some moves being made, including
Daniel Jones get an opportunity to get out there in
the quarterback room, of course, with Anthony Richardson leading the
charge for Thedanapolis Colts this upcoming season. Zaire, speaking specifically,
you brought up the birds here and one individual who
got rewarded last week was Zach Bond at the linebacker position.
(07:52):
You were all Pro. Zach had an unbelievable season for
the Eagles. He was a first team All Pro and
he was rewarded. It was a pretty cool story. I
don't know if you pay attention. Do you pay attention
to most players that play your position across the league,
because that was the ultimate bet on himself type of move.
He signed for a like essentially one million, two million,
whatever it was, and then now just got rewarded a
(08:13):
huge time pay day. Of course, had a great season
and ended up winning the Super Bowl. Do you pay
attention to other players around the league that are at
your position specifically.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Oh, no question, I'm just a fan of the game.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
So I love whenever somebody knew that's popping up or
you know, that's that's making plays. You know that that
keeps me sharp. You know, I'm trying to learn or
watch them. So I really just love watching the game. Obviously,
my family's still in family Philly. I still spend a
lot of time in Philly, so I'm always aware of
what's going on with the Birds. So, you know, it
was cool. You know, his story very similar to mine.
(08:47):
You know, obviously he started off as a special team
or early on and really just made the most of
his opportunity, which which is a great thing to see.
And you know, obviously he got rewarded and you know
it was well deserved.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
You just gotta keep it going.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
That's right, all right? Uh, since you are a Birds
fan and you come from the defensive side of the ball,
your thoughts on the brotherly shove a ka tush push
are you are you pro banning it or you saying, man,
you can't be banned. It's just because they run that good.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Anybody saying that they don't want it going hasn't tried
to stop.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
I've been on the ofice end of trying to stop it,
but no, I mean, honestly, the play really starts to
ends with Jalen.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I mean he I think he's one of the more
underrated runners in the league. You just got you know,
strong legs. He runs hard. You really gotta get him down.
So I think, Uh, you know, when Nick was when
Sirihanni was in Indy, we used to QB sneak all
the time on fourth for one. Obviously he's doctored it
and created a play that that is a little controversial.
(09:47):
But I know, I know a lot of the little
techniques and stuff that they talked about. I remember hearing
Nick and frank Wright coaching through back when I was
earlier in my career. So obviously, I think I think
the play literally starts has with Jalen.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
I think we can take the play out, but at
the end of the day, it comes down.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
How is talking to Za Franklin from the Annapolis Colts.
He's got a lot going on. She Lisa's Angels dot Org.
Check out all the information there. You're right, uh, with
Sirianni coming from Indianapolis. That is funny you brought that up.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Now.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
I know you have a podcast that you were doing
all throughout the course of the season. Trench's Show at
the Trenches show very open. Love it, love love. I
will just tell you this much, right. Darius Slay had
a podcast here in Philadelphia. Yeah, and I was interviewing
this this reporter like go a week ago and I
(10:40):
was like, you know, I could deal without the podcast,
and the reporter cuts me out. No, no, no, the
podcast is great. What are you talking about? So that
tells you all you need to know. Oft you know,
a podcasts throughout the course of the season. But that's
all right. Putting that to the side. Man, it's very
very entertaining, as though you guys are wide open with that.
So I know, you guys get into the conversation and
like top five quarterbacks up three? Were you always saying
(11:02):
Jalen Hurts was elite? Do you think Jalen Hurts is
an elite quarterback? Your thoughts on Jaien Hurts?
Speaker 3 (11:07):
I mean, you know, I think that you know, the
present moment kind of speaks for yourself. He's a Super
Bowl MVP, So you got to put that on the resume,
and you know that that's a separator, you know.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
I think when it comes to.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
The great quarterbacks, I think a lot of these guys
have a lot of great qualities that you know, a
lot of these dudes put up a lot of stats.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
You know, Jalen wins. You know, So I think that's
also something in his favor. You know.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
I think if he was to really sit down and
break down the five, I mean, he's probably if he's
not at five, he's probably somewhere hovering right around, especially
after the.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Season that he's at. But there's there's a lot of
good quarterbacks now.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
No, there is, There is, there definitely is u Zaire.
As far as Philadelphia, you brought up some of the sports.
You brought up the birds here, you Sixers fan. You
grow up being a Sixer fan?
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Oh yeah, Other than football, I'm all six or six Ers, Phillies, Flyers, Union,
I mean.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Union getting a shouted out. That's a talking about Zager.
I like that, all right. So the question is about
the seventy six is what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Man?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
We got like, I think the season is over on
April thirteenth. I can't wait till it's over counting. What
do we do?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Man?
Speaker 1 (12:14):
We're in trouble right now. JoJo's hurt. I don't know
if we're ever gonna get the healthy big man that
we ever wanted. Of course, you get this Paul George deal.
If you were Darryl Morey's assistant is that year, Franklin,
what would you recommend as soon as the season comes
to an end.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
I mean, you know, first and foremost, we got to
get the big man healthy. You know, he's one of
the best players. I mean, it's tough coming up that
Olympics run. We know how you know, Joel is, you
know sometimes you know, the wear and tear in his legs.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
He'd be needing that rest time.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
But I mean Maxley man, Maxley's is an extremely bright
young player, bro. And I was I mean I was
really surprised he didn't get the All Star this year.
I wasn't sure that was like games player. I know
he's missed a couple of games, but you know, Maxley
might be the guy that you know, might have to,
you know, help lead it and put in a driver's seat,
you know, while Joel was trying to figure it out.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah, that was my only worry about this season, was like, man,
I just hope max he is able to keep that
mental going forward. It definitely everybody took a step back
the season. It's just been brutal since since we tipped
back in November. But slowly but surely the season coming
to an end. So you're talk to me a little
about the Global Flag Ambassador that you're involved with. Man,
I saw a video on the NFL network last week
(13:27):
and you are one of, if not the number one
guy representing the NFL as far as Global Flag football ambassadors.
Talk to us a little bit about how you got
involved doing that for the NFL.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yeah, so it was something you know, we kind of
talked through the league with you know, for the last
couple of years.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
I do know.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Jalen's involved with it too in the commercial, so obviously
I ain't to face he in the commercial.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
But no, So you know, obviously I do a lot of.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Work Silicus Andrews with young women, you know, talking to
Troy Vincent and the rest of the guys in the
league office. You know, it's you know, it's important. It's
a huge initiative, not only just to grow the game globally,
but also to you know, try to get opening up
the to get young women involved and give them a
chance to play a game that we love so much.
So honestly, it just married up so much with who
(14:17):
I am. We're just trying to help the young ladies
get out of opportunities and you know, just a chance
to continue to grow the game, not only domestically but
on a global scale. It's fantastic. So you know, I'm
just looking forward to it. I'm extremely excited to be able.
We actually have Yeah, I actually have a flag football
event happened in in Philly at Lasaule on June seventh.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
It is going to be great. It's going to be crazy.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
USA Football is There's going to be some the national
team is going to be there, so it's going to
be great. So yeah, so June seventh, lock that in
June seven at lasau will be a girls flag Jemboree
at LaSalle.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
So I like the way that that sounds. And of
course right there on June seventh, summertime, I believe what
flag football the girls is coming to the Olympics. Is
that correct?
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Well, yeah, flag in general is coming to.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
This Flag in general.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Okay mm hm, So so that's pretty cool. We got it.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
We got a couple of Philly natives on the actual
national team. Shout out the Bruce Man West Philly Bruce
manvers a receiver on the national team currently, So we
got we got a couple of people from Phillies represented.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
And when it comes to the USA flag for sure,
I love it. Zaire.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Can't thank you enough for stopping by once again Chalis's
Angels dot Org for all the information about the gala.
But hey, man, once you move past the successful event
coming up here in the twentieth love to help out
any way we can, specifically here at iHeart Philadelphia and
right here at Fox Sports traded the Gambler with of
course the uh the the the flag football event coming
up on June the seventh here that that sounds awesome man,
(15:42):
and continued success both on and off the field, and
have a great sponsorship gala event coming up here on Thursday,
March twenty 'sire Franklin from Minneapolis colts Philly's own on
the daily tickets here. Thank you for a couple of minutes, Man.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Yes, sir, I appreciate you having me on man anytime.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
There he is there your Franklin on the Gambler stream
And uh, man, that's pretty cool about the flag football
event going down at Lassal. Love to hear more about
that and love to get involved as as a hear
came in last week and you know I can. I
can smell out when there's something somebody authentic, somebody that
(16:19):
means something, somebody that is true. If you go to
his Instagram page, are here posted a post or a
pick last week when he came in with the Rise
and Grind folks and he talked about, oh, this is
what I listened to growing up, and he had a
couple of details in that post that caught my attention.
I'm like, this dude gets it and he's really you
(16:40):
heard it. He brought up the Union. Siia Franklin brought
up the Union. Come on, let's go good hit good dude,
and UH doing really good things in the community with
the saliss Angel Organization once again Salasa's Angels dot org.
I love to hear the why when it comes to
(17:02):
these foundations and the season that he just had and
of course seventh round pick. I think seven or eight
years with the Indianapolis Colts, all with the Colts and
he just had an insane season. Think about that. In
insane he led the league in tackles. Crazy absolutely crazy
(17:23):
season for Zaire. So uh continuing to uh put Philly
on the map and doing great things there. So once
again she Lisa's Angels dot Org. All right, great stuff
from Zaire. We're gonna keep it moving here coming up.
As I said four thirty, we got madness coming our way.
Ryan Beef is gonna join me. Dude, Like, if these
calls don't get your juices going, listen to this. Listen
(17:44):
to this call last night, Wafford. Yeah, they're automatically in.
They won the bid. Listen to this call.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
There's no foul, foul and three the Rappert Terriers aren't.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Going densing Babe, wrapperd downs Fourbanon ninety two to eighty five.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
That's what I'm talking about. You hear that? The Terriers
they took down Furman Southern Conference champions ninety two eighty
five final score last night. I got one more for you, Troy.
Let's have a listen to this one, and.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
It's all over about the shouting, and there will be
a lot of shouting.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Three pointer all the way, no good.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
And this one belongs to the Troe Jones screamers everywhere
with the Pensacola Bay Center. Count the Troy Troachers out
at your payroll. You can count them as Sunbuilt Conference champions,
We're heading to the big dam.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
How about that? They took out Arkansas State, Detroit Trojans
win the Sunbelt. So two tickets punched, two teams are dancing.
We got four championship games going down this evening, So
Ryan Beef Coil is gonna give us a play and
all I'm gonna challenge him and see if he can
raise his games. He can go four? No, I mean
(19:12):
maybe needed a Big Cat. It was the story of
sports gambling for the last sixteen plus days. Whatever, it
was nice work by Big Cat and Barstool did come
to an end last night. Did not have a good vibe.
But you can't you just what are you gonna do?
Bet against them? Can't do that? And I was late
to the charge. I'm not a big Barstool guy. I
do like those guys. I do think that they do
(19:35):
great work. But you know, one of my issues is
with Barstool and this is probably something that's out of
their control to a point. Is it just my feed?
But like I follow PFT, Big Cat, I don't follow Portnoy,
(19:59):
I don't follow like honestly Limited, I fall Smitty. I
don't even know if he's there anymore. Jordi's local here,
So like that's it. I go on Instagram, it's nothing
but barstool. I go on Twitter, it's nothing but barstool.
I go on Facebook, it's nothing important, Like they just
(20:20):
shove it down your throats. The algorithm, Like I said,
that's not a fault to barstool people there. It's the
people that are making this happening digitally and whatever money
they're spending. But it's just to the point that it's like, man,
all right, like I don't care that Nikky Smokes has
slept with the whole office in Chicago, and it's like,
(20:41):
you know, like Brandon Walker's calling it a I don't care.
I just don't care. But it's just all on my
timeline all day every day, and like I don't want
to block these people. It's not like that. But man,
who's ever in charge of distributing distributing money to get
(21:02):
the algorithms to go that way? They are amazing at
their job because I don't know, maybe it is my algorithm,
as you often go. I have that funny joke where
I will go to my algorithm on Instagram and you
hit the magnifying glass one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven.
(21:24):
There's thirteen squares. Eleven of them are girls in bikinis.
Right now, look at that's that's my that's my algorithm
right there. I don't look at it though like that.
It's not what I do. That's all it is. I
lent my phone to beef Coil for one weekend, and
(21:45):
next thing you notice is all it does right here,
that in barstool. Good crief, all right, having some fun
here on a Tuesday, riding solo for now. Coming up,
we'll continue to talk about the NFL free agency that
is still currently happening. I do have a top twenty
(22:06):
five of who's available right here right now, the latest
as far as the quarterback carousel is concerned. And we
got to have some fun at the New York Giants expense.
What in the hell are they doing up there? Seriously? Now,
we like it, we're fans of it here in Philadelphia.
This is thumbs up material across the board. But the
(22:28):
decisions that they have made these last two seasons would
if I was an owner, I would lose my mind
because it doesn't seem like anybody's connecting the thought that
the dots or looking down the road for my money,
thirty thousand feet up here, looking at what the Giants
(22:49):
are doing. It is a lot of hoping and praying
at this point in time, and I don't think those
prayers are being answered by the right people. We'll talk
a little bit about the New York Football Giants as
today there's a special day in Giants' history. Saquon Barkley. Yeah,
he signed. He signed his contract with the with the
(23:10):
Philadelphia Eagles one year ago. Today they announced it. So
thank you very much, New York. We appreciate it. Keep
up what you're doing up there, all right, daily ticket
rolling on four o'clock hours. On the other side back
of this buckets, brackets and bankrolls.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
It's gonna try to get Alabama off with the court.
March is real.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Madness starts here.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
It's the Gambler.
