Speaker 1 (00:22):
You know, we were talking earlier today to start the
show Sam about arch Manning and you know where is
everybody at as we start the season off here for
Texas and of course the ultimate hype ESPN. There was
a guy I don't know how they qualify a classify
at whatever, but something he threw the number thirteen out
there and it was like, you know, it's marketing and

(00:43):
all that rolled up in the one and archers up
there with like the Tibau effect, and Tebow was a
great college quarterback.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Let's not burry to lead with that.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
He was a phenomenal college quarterback, a true winner and
was able to build the program down there in Florida
to the success that they had all those years. So
with along that same frame of conversation, but we do
know more about this other guy, Drew Aller.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
What's your take on Drew Aller right now? You know,
I was not a Drew Auler fan two seasons ago.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
I didn't believe he could lead a team a pass
heavy attack. He wasn't throwing the ball down the field
a lot, and I didn't think he was great in
big games. Last year he really impressed me though, Like
I always go back to that USC game when it
was a really tough travel game Penn State on the
road at USC, really tough travel game for Penn State.
They were down in that game, and Drew Aller grew

(01:33):
up in that game of fell like he left some
huge drives where he had to use his arm down
the field. So I think that game was huge for him.
And then you know, he wasn't great in some of
these big time games, but he also wasn't bad. Like,
I didn't think they lost because of Drew Aller. He
had a couple of interceptions in those COLLEGEA Ball playoff
games and of course the Big Ten Championship, but I

(01:53):
didn't think he was bad.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
So I like Drew Aller. I think it's a really
good quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
I think you could easily win a championship with Drew
Aller your quarterback, considering you have a great running game
when they're the best running back duo in the country
in k Tron Allen and Nick Singleton, I think you
can win the championship with.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
D you Ali, I think it's a really good quarterback.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
He's kind of reminds me of you know, it reminds
me of who JJ McCarthy huh where I think JJ
McCarthy was a really great college quarterback, but he also
relied on a great running game and a great defense
Like that was a pound heavy, a rush heavy attack,
and a great defense when j Jim McCarthy won a championship.
But you can win a championship with him. And I
viewed Drew Aller in a similar light. They're both considered
first round prospects. JJ McCarthy I didn't love coming to

(02:34):
the NFL out of college. I won't necessarily love Drew ALLCX.
We haven't seen this arm talent showcase enough throwing the
ball down the field. But you can absolutely win with him,
and he's not a concern for me at all.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
With Penn State.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
All right, well, I look at Penn State. First of all,
I rolled this out yesterday about the who they have
Nevada to open up.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
You've been playing that is Nevada because that's one of
my favorite players of the weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
We Penn State give the points.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well, it's since two thou in thirteen the FCS versus
FBS competition. The teams are fifteen and one ats sixteen
and oh straight up of course, straight up of point
spreads of thirty seven and a half more. This is
from my guy out there at Visa and Steve mcatt,
and the guy's incredible.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Maybe three more stats.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
There's a couple more of those teams to fall into it,
and that's one of them.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So that's definitely where I'm looking. I'll lay the number.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
I also saw a look aheadline for Penn State Villanova
fifty burger.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Wow, now surprising. Yeah, I didn't think it, Villa. That'd
be like thirty eight thirty nine show some respective villain.
Oh yeah, they one of the best things in the FCS.
Good program.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Anyways, what else you have, Well, I got I got
a couple more on that Penn staking because that's one
of my favorite plays of the weekend already played at
Penn State minus forty four. Franklin's seventy eight forty four
and five against the spread against underranked teams. He's twenty
six eight and one against the spread his last thirty
five games when favored by at least a touchdown and
excluding the COVID season in twenty twenty, which is disastrous

(04:00):
here for Penn State.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
He's covered the spread in six of.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
The Penn State's last seven opening games. It's a huge spread,
but this is one of the best Penn State teams
that they've had in a long time. It feels like
they're gonna come out and make a statement. We know
James Franklin does not take us foot off the gas.
I think Penn State rolls by at least fifty.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Well, hopefully that is the.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Case and we come home a winner, because that's all
we care about is finding ways to win these games.
At the end of the day, college football is here.
How is your Week zero?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Did you have any winners? Did you place wagers? I
didn't actually play anything.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
I looked at it and I was like, I don't
need to do this, Like why do I need to
do this? I didn't love anything. I told you I
was going to play Stanford. I was really close to
Stanford money line. Glad I stayed away. But I got
a loaded card this week and I've already placed a
bunch of I and a few others.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
So hopefully we have some success in Week one. Yeah,
that's what I need. The appetizer, give me right, the
main course. Yeah, this is the main course we have.
Zero was the app come on coldy? Week zero was
the Yeah. Week one is what it all is all about.
Can I give you a couple others before we get off?
Oh wow, we got breaking news.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
John Fanta, Oh I saw that left Fox to become.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
NBC's lead Biggie's voice. Yeah. John fantas man is the best.
I had Phantom a long time ago. I got Phanta
in the phone.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I used to have Phantom weekly appearance in all Right
Now and he got big.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, he's a man. He's great. I mean, great dude.
He seems like the most genuine, like just good dude.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
When he came on multiple times, we had him like
fribably four weeks in a row before he was like,
hey man, you know I love to do it at
his time side.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
And I'm like, yeah, you run like it's your time whatever.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
But we we started talking about like how he got
into what he's doing, and I think his line was
fellas There's there's been a lot of lonely nights at
the drive through at twelve thirty pm or twelve thirty am.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Where I'm like, what am I doing?

Speaker 1 (05:47):
So it's it's credit to him though, But he's worked
hard and of course he knows the game better than most.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah, and he's knows.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Those leagues and NBC is now of course covering the NBA,
so that's a big part of the decision. It's like
he's going to be an NBA guy, and they have
college basketball too with Peacock and all that, so that's
that's a big part of the decision.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
NBC is the place to be and he's he's as
good as it gets. Yep, what else you got going on?

Speaker 3 (06:11):
As far as the card is concerned, UCLA plus six
and a half. I like it against Utah.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
That's this Nico thing. I think it's real.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Like I think there's a lot of questions around him still,
but like his dual dual threat ability. He finished season
really well last year U s LA. It feels like
Deshaun Falster is actually building a culture there. They finished
season four and two after starting one and five last year.
And I don't trust this Utah team that went five
and seven last year of worst record since twenty thirteen.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
And they got a lot of guys back.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Of course, Devin dan Piers is their quarterback from New
Mexico now, but other than that, they have returned a
lot of guys.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
So I don't love this Utah team.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
I got Virginia Tech over plus eight over South Carolina
on neutral fuel.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
That's just too many points that in Atlanta. It's in Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Yeah, there's a lot of hypes around in South Carolina,
and I get it because of Lenora's Sellers.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
He is that great, good program run down there. I
think Shan Beemer is a great coach.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
But a large part of their success late last season
was because their defensive line and that defensive front was
getting after quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
That was their biggest strength.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
And they lost a lot of guys to the NFL
on that defensive front and their defense as a whole.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
So I think that that's bigger than people are realizing.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Everyone's just buying into the Lauras sellers hype, Leonora's Seller's hype.
So I think Virginia Tech at least covers the plus
eight there on a neutral site. And then I got
Toledo plus nine over Kentucky beef teas that the other week,
and I looked into it. I really like this Toledo
team over Kentucky. Who I just think Kentucky's a disastrous
program right now, maybe will win one game in the SEC.

(07:37):
Toledo already bea an SEC team last year Mississippi State,
who's usually at the bottom of those sec standings too.
I think Toledo could win outright, but I got them
plus nine against Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
All right, great stuff, Sam Ostri. You can find him

Clara back all the way in February.
