Beef and Bryce on the college football run Down.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Oh by the way, we did also have some news
to announce from a station perspective, and our friends over
at Legion who have been with us.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Probably for five years now. I want to say that
we've been doing a show shows.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Together, but our best is the the home game, tailgates
and away games. I simply say this all the time.
Name your favorite radio station, and they don't do what
we do. And I mean this on Sundays if they're away,
say the Eagles are on the road in Kansas City,
your favorite radio station is not live with a pregame
(02:29):
show from enemy territory. We are, and we have been
for the past couple of years due to the fact
of Quimby and Green Legion. Now, the scene that they
have created is second to none.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
And that's why I'm really.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Excited about this opportunity because I think, if we do
this right, this will be one of the cooler things
on your TV set, on your screens. No matter how
you're gonna get us, and if you're an Eagles fan
or a football fan in general, we're going to pack
a punch because of the Green Legion people that fill
up those tailgates, that are ready to go bright and
(03:07):
early every Sunday morning for all things Eagles. We have
announced today that we have partnered out with Fox twenty
nine and for the four to one o'clock games, I
will be hosting with Legion. We are gonna be streaming
on Fox twenty nine's all streaming platforms.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
The list is endless from nine to ten.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
It's an hour at the Green Legion tailgate, which is
right outside eleven hundred Social at the brand new State
Side Live no longer Exfinity Live, but with the link
and financial field. With the link is the backdrop, people
all behind us. We're gonna have two big screens. Yeah,
it's gonna be very college game day esque. People are
(03:51):
gonna see themselves on TV. We were talking about signs.
We want people to make signs there. We're got potential sponsorships.
It's gonna be insane. Now we're only doing the four
one o'clock games with the hope that we can create
some madness and maybe that there will be an addition
or two a few other home games or away games
on top of of course playoffs and next year in
(04:15):
the years to come. But I really am so excited
to be with the team in this position, in this
spot as the host. I am going to be shooting
out of a cannon. You got us for an hour.
There's four two minute breaks, so fifty two total minutes
of Eagles conversation NFL Conversation. Trey Thomas, Philadelphia Eagles legend,
(04:38):
will be a part of the cast as he was
last year. Tremendous addition, a great you know, a guy
to go to to get the insight, and of course
previewing the games. Nobody knows the you know, the beef
up front better than Trey, So we'll have Trey Quimby myself,
Chris Sack, Mike Diaz, and of course other special guests
rolled in throughout the course of US season. But we
(05:00):
are super excited. You'll be able to hear that every
single Sunday right here on the Gambler of course at
nine am. But for those four games, we are going
to be live on all Things Fox twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Streaming and it's going to be incredible.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
So we're looking forward to get nuts every Sunday no
matter what. But for those four one o'clock games, one
in September on the twenty first against the Rams, two
in October, one in December. Really excited about that opportunity.
So we will be making the most of that one.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
That is for darn sure.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
All right again, busy, busy weekend as far as sports,
You're concerned, a lot to get to do. Want to
bring this up because it was a little from the
news and notes. Next year is going to be crazy
for Philadelphia sports in general. Sports period in twenty twenty
six with the World Cup, but Pennsylvania is going to
be shining more than ever with the anniversary of America.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
If we make it there. Next year is a long
time away.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
But if we do, come on down sports fans, how
about this the Field of Dreams.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Let's add it to the mix.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
The Phillies will be playing in the Field of Dreams
game that's being played on Fox.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
It's been a huge hit over the years.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I don't know why they would stop doing it, but
they're bringing it back for twenty twenty six and it's
going to be the Phillies and the Twins. They'll be
playing at the Field. The permanent field at the Field
a dream site now owned by the nonprofit Dyersville's Events,
and the first two Major League Baseball games there happen
(06:35):
at a temporary venue. This site also remains a popular
tourist attraction. So I guess they were able to build
up a new field and that's what it is right now.
But it's really exciting and it's definitely one that I
would like to get to.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Don't know if that's going to be possible, Don't know
how difficult. Tickets are going to be to get.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
But I'll tell you what, if we can make that happen,
it'll be incredible to do. So that is a movie that,
of course has a.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Huge piece of my heart.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
And you don't have to go in too deep on
why if you're a baseball fan, A and n B.
Of course, having a catch with the old man nothing better.
I was thinking about that a couple of weeks ago
when I was thinking about my dad who passed away
to due to Alzheimer's a few years ago.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Like, yeah, man, we used to.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Play catch in the backyard man, And pretty cool stuff
there when you think about those memories. So, of course,
Field of Dreams all about that. So really good announcement
that I saw this weekend. And I have no idea
why they would go away from it, but bring it
back please, to say the least. And it's great that
the Phillies will be in it as well. I'm not
so sure about the Twins. Maybe they could have gave
(07:35):
a better opponent a game against the Braves, maybe a
game against the Mets, anything along those lines. But the
Twins will take it anyway to get in, that's for sure,
all right. And again I opened up the show talking
about the Kansas State and Iowa State game where look,
(07:58):
it came down to the wire and Iowa State was
to play.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
And it's unfortunate to be on the wrong side of that.
But there was something else that took place in that.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Game, and I was floored when I saw it on
the timeline. Avery Johnson, the starting quarterback the era for
the Kansas State Wildcats. His father and brother were in
a fight with ech other and I believe it was
(08:33):
before the game or after the game. I believe it
might have been outside. Yes, okay, it was seen in
a video outside of stadium after the game.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
So, of course emotions are running eye. I'm sure the
whiskey was running deep as well, being over there in Dublin, Ireland.
But your brother is the starting quarterback, your son is
the starting quarterback for the university that you are representing,
wearing their colors, and he got into a fight with
his other son. Mark and Anthony Johnson released a statement quote,
(09:04):
we have resolved our differences and take full responsibility for
our actions.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
We have apologized to.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Our immediate and extended family and now extend our apologies
to Kansas State University, it's alumni and fans. We regret
this incident, have learned from it, and are committed to
ensuring it doesn't happen again.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Please accept our deepest apologies. Wow, the fight is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
And everybody knew it was them too, because you could
hear in the video somebody yelling like this is embarrassing
as hell, with some other curse words in it. But
I could not believe that you get an old man
out there. And I speak from being a father, but
like fighting your son, all right, and in fighting your
(09:48):
son in Ireland with your your other sons, your starting court,
like it's the starting quarterback at the university and you're
wearing the colors represent the team. You know, probably been
treated with the best of the best all week law
and what you were so boozed up and irked that
you end up fighting your son after a loss.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Wow, one word rehab.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Both of you do it because obviously there's an issue
there and that's sad. You have to feel for Avery
Johnson who played Okay, it was a tough It was
a tough try. I mean it was just rain and
nasty weather, but ugly game across the board. But he
could sling it. He's got a pretty good pass. He
(10:32):
threw some deep balls, decent deep balls. Think you had
two touchdowns passing still running it as well, don't didn't
really like that play.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
He's really not that big, you know.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Daniels for Kansas is the guy that I would run
the QB keeper with, not him, but whatever. Anyways, that
was a terrible look, and I know the university released
a statement. They released a statement. What do you do
if you're Kansas State? Do you allow them to come
back in next week? Because if everything's good, let's put
these old men, let's put these dads out there. Yeah,
(11:05):
Giannie Halliburton getting up a Yiannis's face, John Morant's old man,
Avery Johnson fighting his son, like, calm down, dads, what
are we doing here?
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Come on? Be better than that? All right?
Speaker 3 (11:18):
And in breaking news of the day, if you missed
it earlier, I would say probably the biggest news item
from the day is Terry McLaurin is back with the
DC commander or something that we all thought. I had
my fantasy draft over the weekend from one of the
leagues that I care about, not to say I don't
care about any of the leagues. I'm in three every year.
I'm in three. We do one for a station. I'm
(11:39):
in one with a group of friends that I've been
with for like the past twenty plus years, and one
that I just joined a couple of years ago with
some recent friends. But the cool one about that is
you have to be in person to draft, and that
was the one that took place over Saturday, and McLaurin
was there and I was tested. I go, man, I
really want to just draft him because you know he's
going to be in there. But he ended up getting
(12:01):
a new deal worth up to ninety six million dollars.
I think that was pretty much what he was aiming for.
Mcclaurin receives a thirty million signing bonus in the deal,
so he got his money. Nice work by him, and
he had the commanders in a tough spot because if
you're not thrown to him, I get a Debo's there,
no doubt. But who else? Who else? I'm like, they
had to bring him in and of course you had
(12:23):
everything coming off of last year.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
And oh, by the way, Jadeen.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Daniels is on a rookie contract, So if you're not
gonna pay a one his number one receiver now what
are you doing?
Speaker 2 (12:34):
At least they were able to settle that it's not
what we wanted.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
To see here with the With the Eagles perspective, they
don't play the Commander's till late I think last three
weeks of the season. They played the Commanders two times
out of three, including the final week of the season.
So two out of three in the final three weeks
of the seasons and he don't play the Commanders.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Still a long damn time.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
So I would imagine he would have been playing for
the Commanders by then. But still interesting stuff. I will
say this much. I don't believe Michael Parsons will be
playing for the Cowboys when they take on the Eagles
next week. I just don't. I'll bet against that right now. However,
we'll see anything as possible. You might get traded. I
don't know what those numbers are gonna be. Like, my goodness,
(13:14):
all right, Uh, five o'clock hour is next if you
missed it.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Luke Rcandy joined me.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
We talked a lot about the Phillies because it is
a big one tonight at City Field in Queens. Once again,
Christopher Sanchez is favored minus one thirty six. No better
time than right now for the Phillies to handle business.
Go up there and exercise the demons. The Mets have
beaten the Phillies at City Field a lot lately, including
(13:39):
in the playoffs last year. Go up there tonight with
your ace on the mound, handle business. The bats stay hot.
I like the Phillies to win tonight. I like the
Phillies to take all three games.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I would bet the sweep. How about that.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
There is a Mets team that is down in the
dumps and if they can lose, they will find a
way to do so.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
So go ahead, go up there.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Put the foot on the wrote, and come away with
a ten game lead in the division. And that's all
she wrote. If that is how it plays out, again,
that's some heavy bias. That's some home cooking. We'll see
if that's the case. But Luke Carcandy joins me to
talk a little bit more from the weekend. We had
some fun obviously catching up as far as the world
of Major League Baseball, and we even mixed in a
little Tommy Fleetwood conversation as he finally got it done
(14:21):
winning his first.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
PGA Tour event and wow in a big, big way.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Nice work there by Tommy Fleetwood daily take a roll
on more refu
