(00:05):
It was year 1852 September. It had been about a year since
Thomas Whaley had uprooted his life to land in Old Town,
California. On the 18th of September, Thomas
found himself at the gallows in town to witness what would turn
out to be a very remarkable execution, one that would
imprint him and the rest of Old Town in a way that no one could

(00:27):
have ever imagined. Yankee Jim Robinson was a well
known criminal around those parts.
There were whispers that Jim hadtaken claim to a hidden gold
mine, but he was better known around town as a thief and
swindler. He was finally pursued by the
law due to the taking of a boat that was not his.

(00:47):
Robinson was tried before the court for a grand larceny, being
found guilty and given the sentence of death by hanging.
Some townspeople thought that this punishment was too harsh
for the crime. Others thought it was about time
the town was rid of Yankee Jim. Inky Jim himself thought the
sentence was a joke. That was until he was carted out

(01:07):
by mule to the gallow site of Old Town.
Then his attitude would become alittle more serious.
The turn out for his hanging would draw a crowd.
What was supposed to be a run-of-the-mill execution turn
into something much more horrific.
You see, Inky Jim was unlike most of the town folk.
He was said to be a tall man, well over 6 feet tall.

(01:32):
Between the length of his noose and the height of the gallow
beams available, there was an epic short sight that would
prove to be the catalyst for what would come next.
As Yankee Jim rolled up to the gallows on a cart, the noose
then put over his head and around his neck, he uttered the
words Am I going to die? When asked to give any last

(01:53):
words, it was reported that Jim would offer a farewell speech to
the crowd, where he claimed he had been a good man and had even
given a portion of his goal to help the disadvantaged.
When the car pulled out from beneath his feet, it would
become apparent right away that something was very wrong.
His neck didn't break when his feet finally lost touch with the

(02:13):
cart, and Yankee Jim was left tohang until he strangled to
death. Multiple sources, including
historical records, made claims that this would take over half
an hour. The onlookers shared shocking
tales of the day Yankee Jim was hung, including Thomas Whaley.
But little did Thomas know at the time that before the decade

(02:35):
was to close, he would be livingon that very site and be haunted
by the very soul that died that day.
In today's episode I'll be exploring the idea of residual
energy, natural earth energies, and how this combination can
influence what become known as haunted places.
I'll be using one of the most talked about houses in the

(02:56):
United States as a case study. This house has officially been
crowned as the most haunted house in America, not only by
public opinion, but also by the California Chamber of Commerce.
Have you heard of the Whaley House?
Welcome to the dark side of light work.
I'm Wynne Thornley. I would like to begin this

(03:24):
portion of the episode by sharing some great news that has
fallen upon myself publishing efforts.
I'm thrilled to be included as alocal vendor at 2 shops in
central Alberta. Moon and Lotus and Sylvan Lake
is an eclectic mystical shop that serves the witchy and the
lightworker community. Opening in 2022, they have
deepened their roots in the community and have opened their

(03:44):
wares to local artists, crafters, healers and teachers
in the central Alberta community.
The energy and vibe on site is welcoming and collaborative.
You'll just love it when you go in and the owner on site.
Chelsea is a well of knowledge within the metaphysical arts and
is just as easy to get Chitty chatty with.
Blended Solutions is a local business in sundry Alberta that

(04:05):
has filled a community need of reliable and affordable shared
office space. The owner, Christine, offers a
lot of on site perks like coffeeand tea, private office space
and her own bookkeeping servicesand late last year she brought a
necessity back to the community by opening up a used bookshop
which she also features local central Alberta authors.

(04:29):
I am bursting with pride that myjournals are available on both
of their shelves. Both shops are independently
owned and operated by local women who have taken the
opportunity to serve a niche market in their community with
authentic commitment and passionand to deepen my collaboration.
You will be able to find me on site in both shops this year.

(04:50):
I've already had a little bit ofa day at Moon and Lotus in May,
but I'll be returning to both Moon and Lotus and Blended
Solutions in the fall for some meet the author dates, so watch
for those on my website. I've also been in a lot of
markets this year, guys not onlypromoting the podcast but also
promoting myself, publishing efforts.
And the market season is not ending for me until October.

(05:11):
So make sure to check out my website because I will be in Red
Deer IN August and September andI will also be in Olds at the in
the Mystic Market in October. I would be a miss if I didn't
close this portion of the podcast down without telling you
about this wonderful ladies mountain getaway that I am part
of this Halloween. It is called Ghost Towns and

(05:34):
Graveyards and it is going to bespectacular, very unique and
something you're not want to miss.
It's being hosted out in Nordeggand I'm working with three other
beautiful women to facilitate this weekend.
That's going to include information on psychic shielding
and protection, how to psychic witness without taking the stuff
home with you. We're doing a night mine tour in

(05:56):
the historical Nordegg mines. We're doing forest baths and
soulful hikes and just really opening up our energy to welcome
everything that Nordegg has to share with us.
So you'll find more information about how to register with that
on my website and I will close this down.
Let's get to the Whaley House. It is taking me long enough to

(06:16):
get here, guys. I just need to get all of that
self promotion in so that you know what I'm doing outside of
the podcast. So let's get into it, shall we?
In the opening of this episode, I talked about the hanging of
Yankee Jim Thomas Whaley's connection to this event, and

(06:38):
the fact that Whaley still choseto purchase this town plot and
build his home on the very spot where Jim and others took their
last breaths publicly. It creates an unsetting feeling
right off the start, doesn't it?The nail in the coffin, as you
will, is the fact that six of the eight members of the Whaley
family died in this house. Lots of death associated with

(07:02):
this home and land. But on the other hand, there's
lots of history documenting decades of prosperity from when
the Whaley House was a thriving pillar of the Old Town community
and in recent times as a historical landmark museum.
sandiegohistory.org shares some information about a letter that

(07:22):
Thomas Whaley sent to his motherdated February 9th, 1857.
It was all about the home he wasbuilding in Old Town,
California. And I quote, my new house and
store will soon be completed andwhen finished will be the
handsomest, most convenient and comfortable place in this
section of the country or within150 miles of here.

(07:46):
UN quote. And Thomas Whaley was certainly
right about that. The origins of the home were
meant to support Whaley's granary, and the materials used
to construct the home was created in his own Brickyard,
but the home transforming for different purposes many times.
Since its completion in 1857, the Whaley House has served as a

(08:08):
general store, the first public theater in the area and the
second courthouse in the Old Town region.
Not to mention the main purpose of it being a comfortable luxury
home for Whaley's beloved family.
What I find interesting about the Whaley House is that before
the conception of a home was even set into motion, people
gathered to this site. Its energy seems to fluctuate

(08:31):
between prosperity and misfortune, and for some reason
this area of southern coastal California draws people
together. Places like this are special
because they seem to be energetic hotspots.
The Whaley House has a history that is embedded deep into our
collective consciousness, and I believe this is the only reason

(08:54):
it still presents paranormal activity the way that it does.
For one, we're looking for it and on a level expecting it.
And you know how energy and intention works, what you're
looking for usually shows up. So what kind of haunting is
really going on over at the old Whaley House?
I believe it's a combination of two forces, and Whaley was the

(09:17):
catalyst that put this energetichotspot on display for the world
to see. There are different kinds of
hauntings and endless reasons for a haunting to occur.
In this episode, I'm going to unpack the type of haunting

(09:38):
known as a residual haunting andhow naturally occurring earth
energies can be a major influence in these kinds of
hauntings. Let's begin with the idea of a
residual haunting, which are also commonly referred to as
psychic imprints, personal energy drains, or psychic
memories. Residual hauntings are created

(10:00):
by the living. This type of energetic smudge
can occur in more than one way. The most common way is through
emotionally explosive, traumatic, or repetitive action.
Another way is through social projection and belief.
Basically, gossip. It's easy to think that only

(10:20):
traumatic events can leave lasting imprints on places,
spaces, or sections of land, like deaths due to violence,
oppression, or depression, or incases that involve long term
neglect, abuse, or severe mentalhealth concerns.
These types of situations are powerfully impactful for those
involved and connected in other ways and often linger in the

(10:42):
living's memory for a long time after the initial realization or
disclosure of a long term situation.
Events that bring about extreme happiness and joy, like weddings
and bringing in new life into a home can also leave residual
energy behind. But due to the extreme emotion
of joy, love and compassion experienced in these cases, they

(11:05):
do not generally interfere with the living in a non contributing
way. So why the big difference?
It's all about the energetic signature left behind.
For the first time on this podcast, I will take an example
from a home curing I conducted in my professional practice to
unpack this idea a little further.

(11:27):
I specialize in curing the haunted and unsellable when it
comes to the home, land and business energetic work that I'm
hired to do. The client case I'll be
referring to was in the categoryof unsellable.
The owner had their long term home up for sale for an extended
period of time with very little interest and no real offers in

(11:49):
the 2 1/2 to three years they had it listed.
It was located on a secluded residential St. in a small
highway town. It had a lovely curb appeal,
functional layout, and showed noapparent aesthetic reason for
the lack of buyer interest. Sure, things like the cupboards,
paint, and flooring were a little dated, but the price

(12:11):
reflected all aspects of this home well and was really in
favor of the buyer. During my exploration ritual, I
deeply tuned into the Akashic records of the home and at the
onset there was a hint of something inky creeping around
the home without there being an initial area standing out as the
root cause. It seemed to spread through the

(12:33):
home like wisps of the roots of a tree coming from the basement,
up the stairs and into the common living areas on the main
floor. It wasn't intelligent, but it
left an odd feeling, a heavy feeling that you just couldn't
really explain. It felt secretive.

(12:54):
Moving on to the curing stage, Iusually begin in the basement
anyways and at the furthest point away from the front entry
into the home as possible. This time it was a little
different. I was guided to enter the first
room with a closed door, which was at the bottom of the stairs
and off to the left. Basically I walked from the last

(13:16):
stair and turned into a hallway through a transitional door and
found the first closed door to my right at the beginning of the
hallway. This room being in the northeast
corner of the home, I felt I hadidentified the room that was the
host to that inky heaviness. And as soon as I pass the
threshold into this room, I feltthis wet blanket of sadness and

(13:40):
depression come over me. As I explored the room, tuning
into it, I just knew the root ofthat residual energy was further
hidden and this is when I was drawn to the closet.
Now before I go on, I must sharethat this home curing was out of
the norm in many ways, and the first hint that this would be an

(14:02):
unstructured curing was shown right away.
The home owner was with me the whole time.
This is highly unusual for me. I prefer to have the space or
land to myself during the whole curing ritual.
I even asked my clients to take any pets or animals with them if
it's possible. But in this particular case, I

(14:23):
was given the go ahead for my spiritual team to allow the
client to stay, getting a message that they would be an
asset to the session when it came to validation and the total
release of old energetic debris. So I followed this divinely
guided advice when I got to the point in the curing ritual where
I found myself in that bedroom in the basement.

(14:45):
The homeowner had shared nothingwith me about the family
dynamics or personal information.
She was just there to let me do my work, as you will.
So back to the closet. As soon as I opened the closet
doors, I was flooded with visions of a self loathing
ritual that took place in this room.
And the closet was the hiding place to contain a secret.

(15:09):
At this point, I let the home owner know I was about to say
something totally heavy and if I'm out to lunch, please let me
know. The visions I shared were of a
teen girl, one who is battling self-image, depression and
control issues leading to the experience of bulimia.
And this closet is where they would store the evidence of

(15:30):
binging and purging. The home owner was astonished
and quickly confirm this information for me.
She shared the story of this time in her daughter's life from
a mother's perspective and even shared what would be found in
the closet that would lead to a massive healing event for the
daughter and the whole family. My psychic witnessing allowed

(15:54):
her to understand more about herdaughter's point of view of this
time and I could feel a deep release, a a relief within my
client from sharing this missingpiece of information that she
was never aware of before. This powerful, emotional and
repetitive ritual the daughter created in secrecy would leave

(16:14):
an energetic imprint that lastedfor years.
If I recall correct, by the timeI was called in to cure the
home, the daughter had worked through this dark time in her
life, was thriving in college, and no longer even lived in the
home, but the imprint remained. Having the client there to
validate these visions really helped to explain why I was

(16:38):
feeling extensions of this energy throughout the home with
those psychic tendrils. When those who we live alongside
with are in a dark mindset, thisenergetic loathing can bleed
throughout the whole living arealike puddles and root systems of
darkness, and this usually occurs on an unconscious level.

(17:02):
But Please remember that this energy and state of being is
begging to be seen and wants nothing more than to be given
compassion and healing. Energy is always looking for
balance and harmony. This is why light workers
encourage the clearing and curing of our spaces, because
residual energy from internal battles, arguments, bad moments

(17:23):
in time or mental health challenges find their way into
all the nooks and crannies of our habitats.
And if we don't give them love and attention, this non
contributing energy can begin todisrupt our peace and prosperity
to the point of even stalling the sale of a home until it's
addressed. The first thing that should be

(17:44):
clarified is that residual energy is not intelligent and
it's non responsive to any type of interaction from the living.
It's an energetic signature or density that's on a loop if
created by a ritual of the living or lingers like smudges
on glass or stainless steel if created in one explosive moment
or event. Psychic imprints could become

(18:07):
more energetically heightened ifthe imprint happened on a
certain day of the year or time of day by ritual, or if it's
part of the collective consciousness gossip, which I
will visit that notion a little later in this episode.
In this client case, the psychicmemory was already beginning to
dissipate on its own due to the time elapsed since this ritual

(18:29):
was active, and there was also considerable healing that had
occurred within the daughter andthe family, but it was still
potent enough to be causing disharmony for the rest of the
home. The curing process was quick and
powerful. I could feel half of my work was
done on this home just by addressing this one room.
After completing the full job and leaving the client with some

(18:51):
homework to do on their own, this home would go on to sell
within four weeks of my curing efforts.
There have been times when I'm working with harmonizing spaces
and places that Earth energies make themselves known and it
adds a new layer of neutralization that is being
called for in my studies and applications.

(19:12):
I have become familiar with several kinds of Earth energies
for consideration. In this episode I want to talk a
little bit about Ley lines, vortex points, and telluric
fields because I believe they are directly influencing the
Whaley House. The Whaley House is special and
a perfect case study for residual haunting with a bonus

(19:34):
geoenergetic influence. Since the closing of the era of
being a community hub and the transition into a museum and
historical site in the mid 1900's, the Whaley House has
attracted some of the most prolific paranormal
investigators from the 1960s to today, with each team having
their own records of evidence they have compiled.

(19:56):
Some of these investigators havebeen public figures like Hans
Holzer. Holzer documented his account in
the book Where the Ghosts Are, The Ultimate Guide to Haunted
Houses. More recent investigation teams
include buzzfeed.com with their ghost hunting episode called The
Spirits of the Whaley House. Other big shows that you might
know that covered the Whaley House for their audience include

(20:18):
Zach Baggins and his Ghost Adventurers crew and the popular
YouTube channel The Paranormal Files.
When you blend this recorded investigation evidence with Geo
energetic properties that naturally present themselves at
sites like these, a more complete picture of a haunting
begins to take shape. To understand the connection
between the two, the beginnings of Old Town and the time before

(20:41):
it took on a colonial name is where we will start.
Because this part of Southwest California didn't just pop up
with community in the mid 1800s,this portion of the United
States has attracted communitiesof people for thousands of
years. Long before colonization in

(21:04):
California, the Kumaye people thrived in what would become Old
Town San Diego. For upwards of 10,000 years,
this indigenous tribe lived in harmony with the coastal land,
riverbanks and rolling hills. Moving between villages,
Bukumaye followed the hunter andgatherer lifestyle, which
included tending to native plants and honoring the land

(21:27):
through spiritual ceremonies. To them, every riverbend and
every hill had a meaning. They were places of creation and
places of transformation. Their connection to the land was
intimate and deep, shaping theirtraditions and way of life.
Then, in 1769, the tides turned.Spanish explorer Gaspar de

(21:49):
Portola arrived with missionary Unipero Serra, establishing the
first of California's famous missions, San Diego de Acala.
It marked the beginning of European settlement in the
region, a new chapter that brought both expansion and
contention. As the Spanish built presidios
and settlements, the Kumaye resisted fighting to preserve

(22:12):
their traditions and land. The mission system, while
expanding Spanish influence, also forced indigenous people
into labor and eroded centuries old ways of life.
As Spanish rule gave way to Mexican independence, San Diego
transformed yet again. In the 1820s, Mexico secularized

(22:33):
the missions, distributing land to private ranchers, many of
whom became the first families of Old Town.
Adobe homes popped up, a bustling marketplace formed, and
Old Town San Diego became the heart of a growing settlement.
By the 1840's, the winds of change brought forth another
shift American expansion. The Mexican American War ended

(22:56):
with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848, making
California part of the United States.
San Diego, now an official American territory, saw an
influx of settlers, businesses and prospectors looking for
opportunity in the West. But Old Town wasn't just a city
of history. It became a city of lingering

(23:18):
spirits. Some say the land never forgot
its past. By the 1860s, as New San
Francisco developed further South, Old Town gradually faded
from the forefront. Today it has been preserved as a
living museum, a place where history hums in the Adobe walls,

(23:38):
where indigenous legacy, Spanishcolonialism and American
expansion intertwine, and where the land is still affected by
the ebbs and flow of a powerful geoelectric energy that is
located in this part of the world.
Let's talk about 3 Earth energies that are relevant to

(24:01):
the Whaley House haunting, tilluric fields, Ley lines and
vortex points. Tilluric fields, also called
tilluric currents, are a type ofgeoelectric field that can be
measured scientifically, a practice that has been conducted
since the 1950s. Ley lines and vortex points are
a little more complicated and not yet proven to exist by

(24:23):
scientific analysis. They are based more on
hypothesis. The concept of Ley lines was
first introduced by British archaeologist Alfred Watkins in
the 1920s, who theorized that ancient sites and landmarks are
aligned in straight pathways across the landscapes.
Over time, this idea evolved into the belief that Ley lines

(24:45):
represented channels of Earth's energy, often associated with
mystical or spiritual significance and sacred sites
like Stonehenge and Sedona. Vortex points, on the other
hand, are thought to be locations where Ley lines
intersect, creating spirals of energy that can either be
uploading or downloading in nature, with uploading throwing

(25:08):
positive vibes and downloading being more the negative side of
the frequency pull. Some believe vortexes can also
be conjured and created spontaneously by a practitioner
who works deeply with the elemental magic, also known as
geomancy, no matter how they present themselves.
Many spiritual practices claim these vortex points can have

(25:28):
powerful healing properties and influence human construction and
consciousness. But these claims remain
speculative and are not widely accepted by mainstream science,
even though there are sufficientdocumentation of personal
experiences of paranormal eventsin these vortex hotspots that
tell a different story. The very buildings and sites

(25:51):
that become constructed on presumed vortex points should be
proof enough something paranormal is happening.
And it's more than just churchesand worship sites that we
commonly associate with uploading vortex points.
I want you to think massive prison structures, cult
compounds and Holocaust sites asa few representations of what

(26:13):
downloading vortexes attract. Telerik fields are natural
planet wide electrical currents that pulsate through the ground,
weaving an unseen web of energy across the continents.
What makes Telerik fields different than the other Earth
energies are that they are reliably measurable within the
crust and mantle levels of our planet.

(26:36):
Solar and celestial events play a crucial role in influencing
Telerik fields. Solar flares and geomagnetic
storms, which are caused by intense bursts of energy from
the Sun, can disrupt Earth's magnetic field, inducing
fluctuations in telluric currents.
This is how the Northern Lights are produced.

(26:58):
When the Sun erupts in solar flares or launches corneal mass
ejections, charged particles race towards Earth, colliding
with its magnetosphere and setting the sky ablaze in
streaks of green and purple. But beneath the spectacle,
something unseen is happening. Telluric currents shift and
surge through the ground, responding to the planet wide

(27:21):
electromagnetic disturbances. These invisible forces don't
just influence nature, they alsoaffect technology, from power
grids to satellite communications, even altering
Earth's geophysical surveys. The celestial and terrestrial
worlds are more intertwined thanwe ever imagined, aren't they?
Similarly, lunar and planetary alignments can subtly affect

(27:45):
Earth's electromagnetic environment, altering the flow
of these currents. Scientists measure telluric
fields using magnetic telluric, or Mt, methods.
These methods rely on electromagnetic sensors to
detect shifts in the Earth's electric and magnetic fields.
Imagine the planet itself havinga fast electrical circuit.

(28:08):
Every rock, mineral deposit, anddeep layers of Earth conducts
these subtle energy waves. By mapping them, researchers
unlock hidden secrets, from mineral exploration to tectonic
activity, even tracing underground reservoirs of water.
So how do fluctuating telluric fields affect humans?

(28:32):
Have you ever felt a strange headache, unease, or tension
without any clear reason? Some researchers suggest that
heightened telluric fields couldbe influencing more than just
geology. When geomagnetic disturbances
like powerful solar storms amplify these currents, they may

(28:53):
subtly impact the human nervous system, triggering symptoms such
as headaches, nausea and anxiety.
That's how I know we're going tohave a burst of Northern Lights
in my area. While the science is still
evolving, studies on electromagnetic fields or Emfs,
indicate that prolonged exposureto certain frequencies can

(29:15):
affect the biological rhythms, potentially increasing stress
responses, even creating experiences that are interpreted
as paranormal. This is why harmonization of the
humans and land become importantin homes or other buildings that
happen to be on hotspots of geoelectrical influence or other

(29:36):
geopathic stresses. Please keep in mind that to lurk
fields don't just belong to science, they whisper through
history. Before modern technology,
ancient civilizations unknowingly built sacred sites
along these natural energy paths.
Some believe that these currentsinfluence everything from

(29:57):
intuition to the migration patterns of animals, and from
some artistic depictions of Tilluric fields and patterns.
The southern coast of Californiaalways seems to have a strong
Tilluric current influencing theenvironment, including the
shores that lead to Old Town. When it comes to Ley lines and

(30:17):
vortex points, I cannot confirm. The Whaley House is on a Ley
line, but one seems to be in close proximity.
What does seem to be a fact as far as the few vortex mappings I
found from a couple of Internet sources, Old Town and the
greater San Diego region is not quite on a vortex point with the
closest one that I could find that is just across the border

(30:40):
and into Mexico. This vortex point, if I read
these tilluric field and vortex maps right there seems to be an
attraction to the tilluric fields that flow through
southern coastal California and this vortex point to the east of
Tijuana. So where are we?
In my case study of the Whaley House, we have established how

(31:00):
residual energy can be imprintedon the property by highs, lows
and deaths experienced on the site.
Earth energies Tiller feels seemto be a strong influence and are
actually mapped and recorded as being in the area by scientific
methods. But there's one more layer of
this haunting I want to include in my energetic diagnosis of

(31:21):
this home. Collective gossip and lore.
So you remember the beginning ofthis episode.
I spoke about Yankee Jim and thedeath of six family members in
the house and how the Whaley House holds the crown title of
the most haunted house in America.

(31:43):
These are part of collective gossip and what I believe is the
last puzzle piece that allows paranormal activity to continue
the way it does at the Whaley House of Old Town.
And to be honest, a lot of otherfamous haunted places are also
influenced by this chatter and lore.
So let's get to the part of the episode that won't give me any
friends in the paranormal industry understanding how we as

(32:06):
a collective keep a place haunted.
Like I mentioned before, residual hauntings can be
created by other means than tragedy or heightened emotions.
And this is through the retelling of a story, be it true
or not. This energetic process is known
as broadcasting psychic energy, among other sayings.

(32:30):
Places like the Whaley House have a reputation, and sometimes
this reputation is what helps a place remain popular and viable
as a public spectacle. They might also be the reason
for some historical sites to continue to thrive in business.
But have you ever thought why places like these stay haunted?

(32:52):
The way the house is well documented, so if a medium or
paranormal investigation team can go in and read the place and
come to a conclusion that it is haunted, then why are they not
offering a cure or solution to resolve this situation?
These are the questions that I have as well because my training
and work philosophy is centered on energetic diagnosis, remedy

(33:16):
and curing of places and people. So there are a couple of simple
answers I have learned from being in the paranormal
industry. First, degree of training,
integrity or ethics of the spiritual professional, with
degree of training being the most common reason this step
might be skipped. Followed by integrity and

(33:37):
ethics. What I often hear within these
conversations is that someone will have a medium wander
through their home to tell them a bunch of stuff that involves
the type of haunting they're experiencing or type of spirit
wandering your halls and why. Usually the medium will claim
it's a person that has died and is wandering.

(33:57):
Other times it raises a big reaction from the medium with
descriptions of dark energy or ademonic presence.
These home owners are given no remedy, no curing methods and
are made to feel like they just have to live with the ghost.
The more scrupulous professionals will not cure the
home for other reasons and that would be for returned income or

(34:19):
just poor ethics. Bear in mind that when dealing
with curing of a home, business space, historical space or land,
there are boundaries and permissions that have to be
adhered to by the practitioner. The owner or the association
that governs the space and land has to give their permission for
any energetic changes to occur ethically.

(34:42):
And that brings me to my second point.
Sometimes the owner doesn't wantthe building to be cured, be it
for personal reasons, beliefs, attention seeking, or for
profit. How many of you listening to
this episode right now have built a vacation around seeing a
haunted site or booked a night stay in a place just because it

(35:04):
was rumored to be haunted and I am raising my hand with you, OK.
In my research and field work, Ican say that the most impactful
reason a place will remain haunted, even if spiritual or
energetic intervention has takenplace is due to the owner's
desire for it to remain haunted.Someone who has invested

(35:26):
emotionally into this perpetually haunted place wants
or needs it to remain haunted, so they talk about it and spread
the tail. This in itself can create
conditions for residual energy to build and begin a life of its
own. In the past, I've spoken about
the Tibetan belief on Tupac and creating a ghost in an episode

(35:48):
where I covered the Toronto Parapsychology Group experiment
into this phenomenon called the Phillip Experiment.
Go back and take a listen if youmissed that one.
In this episode, I will expand on this idea as I drop this
truth bomb on you. The more we talk about
something, the more we breathe life into that idea.

(36:10):
A medium with extreme talent andcuring is no match for an owner
or the public's interest in something remaining haunted.
I'm pretty confident I could go in and cure the Whaley House of
all its bad vibes. Bring harmony to the ebb and
flow of the tiller fields of thearea.
But the public, current caretakers, and even the

(36:31):
California Chamber of Commerce interests are influencing the
outcome. So much so that the continued
projected thoughts about it being the most haunted house in
America would eventually create residual paranormal activity
that mimics the broadcasting of the thoughts, especially if

(36:51):
there's emotional belief in the haunting backing up that
broadcast. So where did the original idea
begin that the Whaley House was haunted?
It was actually from Thomas Whaley himself.
Thomas Whaley documented his personal experience of hearing
footsteps not long after moving into his home in Old Town,

(37:11):
convinced they belong to Yankee Jim.
And this journal entry has been shared, believed and shared
again and again over the last 160 years.
The more belief broadcasted, themore the energy can shape into
what we are expecting to experience.
But why did Thomas Whaley hear footsteps in the 1st place?

(37:33):
Because something caused him to write it down.
That is a fact in this case study and which starts it all.
I believe that this would be a combination of events.
I believe it has to do with the heightened alert fields that
Whaley would have been experiencing in the old
verbiage. The house is just settling.
One of Thomas Whaley's great achievements was building the

(37:56):
first example of a Greek Revivalbrick home in Southern
California. Greek Revival architecture,
while visually striking, wasn't really wise to build within
areas of continuously shifting landscapes.
Old Town has faced earthquakes, floods, and unstable soil
conditions, all of which challenge the longevity of

(38:19):
structures in this style. Unlike the traditional Adobe
style buildings originally popular in this area and that
which naturally adapt to the environmental changes with ease,
the Greek Revival structures rely on brick and wood framing.
These rigid materials are naturally more vulnerable to
movement and will dramatically express this stress over time

(38:42):
with moans, groans, and suspicious knockings and creaks.
The Whaley House, though one of the finest examples of this
construction style in San Diego. From that time, be aware that it
has undergone multiple restorations to combat the long
term effects of earthquakes and natural wear and tear.

(39:03):
I can only imagine that the moans, groans and unusual noises
continue as they did in Whaley'stime.
And if there was an especially high telluric field activity in
Whaley's time which wasn't to bemeasured scientifically until
almost a century later, then there could have been some
heightening of the psychic senses inviting the notion

(39:24):
something paranormal was happening to the family.
What you might be asking yourself now is about the six
family members dying within the home.
Surely that alone would cause a slew of haunting activity,
right? When?
Well, let's go ahead and unpack my thoughts on that.

(39:44):
Yes, it is true that six of the eight members of the Thomas
Whaley family died in the home that stands today in Old Town.
But did you know that only two of these deaths happened under
what would be considered tragic circumstances?
Of course, these two are the most talked about cases, with
multiple sources I came across barely mentioning the four other

(40:06):
deaths. And most sources I found failed
to cover the cause or age of thepassing of the family members.
Leaving you to fill in the storyfor yourself in this case.
I had to dig a touch here, but Ithink I got the answers I was
looking for relatively easy compared to other case studies,
just because there's so much documentation on this house.

(40:29):
So here's a breakdown of the deaths recorded on the property
of the original Whaley House, The first being of Thomas Whaley
Junior. Within the first year of living
on the property, the Whaley's lost their second child due to
scarlet fever. This illness was very prevalent
at the time and Thomas Junior was only 18 months when he

(40:49):
succumbed to this bacterium. Many people report hearing
babies, cries and the pitter patter of little feet in the
house. I will get into why I believe
this is collective gossip residual.
Hang in there guys. The second tragic death would
occur less than 20 years later in 1885.
Daughter Violet would take her own life on the property.

(41:11):
You see, Violet married a con man and she would never
emotionally recover. After her new husband abandoned
her and admitted to being a con artist, her pride and reputation
were tarnished. It wasn't long after Violet
would successfully take her own life by firearm.
Violet initiated her death within the outhouse on the

(41:33):
property. This alarmed the family into
action, with Thomas moving Violet into the home and calling
a doctor to the site. Violet would later succumb to
her injuries within the home shelived the majority of her life
within. Yes, very tragic, but both
occurring more than 100 years ago now.
True residual haunting energy has been proven to weaken and

(41:57):
dissipate over time in various metaphysical circles.
There's this compelling idea that everyone carries a unique,
energetic or even DNA based signature.
And when we inhabit a space, visit a space, or momentarily
enter a space, especially duringmoments of emotional intensity

(42:17):
or daily routine, a trace of that energy can settle into the
environment, like a scent in theair.
Some spiritual tradition say this residual can last up to 30
days, if not longer, forming an echo of presence.
Some researchers call it the Stone Tape theory.
This theory suggests that materials like brick, wood, or

(42:39):
stone can store emotional and habitual recordings.
Thinkers like Rupert Sheldrake suggest something even deeper,
that morphic resonance might allow patterns of memory and
behavior to be imprinted non locally through fields that
transcend space and time. And then there are voices like

(43:01):
David Wilcock who suggests DNA itself could be an antenna to a
higher consciousness. And perhaps what we leave behind
in these historical spaces isn'tjust a trace, but a signal.
Still searching for a home. Whether you see this as science,
spirit, or something in between, the Whaley House stands as a

(43:22):
whispering archive, a place where reality and ghostly
residual blur together. When you have the collective on
board that the Whaley House is the most haunted house in
America. Originating from the tales in
Whaley's journal, the loss of his two children early in them
living there, and four more family deaths to come by the
1950s. This morphic resonance in the

(43:45):
style of gossip and retelling ofa tale could absolutely
influence the psychic energy within the Whaley house and
amplify a long dissipated energetic signature from the
past. This is why people still hear a
baby cry or Yankee Jim's footsteps.
Part collective lore, part expectation, and part Earth

(44:07):
energy disharmony amplifying thearea.
The final four members of the Whaley family to die within the
original Whaley house, where Anna Whaley, Francis Whaley,
George Whaley and Corinne Lillian Whaley, Anna Thomas
Whaley's wife, passed away on February 24th, 1913 at the age

(44:28):
of 80. Her son Francis died shortly
after on November 19th, 1914, having spent his final years
restoring the home and entertaining visitors.
George Whaley died on January 5th, 1928, and the last
surviving family member, CorinneLillian, remain in the house
until her death in 1953. While Anna and Frances died of

(44:52):
natural causes. Specific details about George
and Corinne's death are a littleless documented, though they are
also believed to have died peacefully within the home.
So though these last four deathsfuel the story of the hauntings
at the Whaley House, they were not tragic and like I mentioned
before, not even interesting enough to be covered by other

(45:14):
content creators. Just included in the death count
because it does sound quite frightening to think one home to
the lives of six family members. But honestly, the truth is not
always sexy or scary, unfortunately.
To close down this episode, I want to share that my intention
is not to take the fun out of haunted tales like the Whaley

(45:36):
House. My intention is to take the
Hollywood out of the lore. Yes, I absolutely do believe
something is happening at sites like the Whaley House.
I am just more interested in speaking about why hauntings
like this are active with information that is often left
out of these tales of the spookyand unusual.
Oftentimes the cause is absolutely explainable and it

(46:00):
can be very complex, like in this case.
The Whaley House seems to be a paranormal hotspot for multiple
reasons. Earth energies influencing the
location, historical impact, andcollective gossip.
We are in a time where science is catching up to what Mystics
and mediums have known for eons and I do believe it will

(46:20):
continue to unravel the unseen forces of our Earth and bodies
more and more. That's why I'm packing.
Case studies like the Whaley House are important.
We are advancing as a species inour spiritual ideals,
philosophies, and truths. It's about time we start
changing how we think when it comes to things that go bump in

(46:41):
the night because most times it comes down to disharmony between
the land and the human. And that is an easy fix if one
is so interested. Thank you so much for popping by
and spending time with me today.I really appreciate you being

(47:02):
