In this episode, Becky and Father Dave examine how the familiar can become an obstacle to success and excellence in any part of our lives, including our journey with God. Becky shares that in her pastoral work, she often noticed that people were disconnected from the idea that they actually could hear from God and believed that it wasn’t possible to have a life-giving relationship with him. Father Dave and Becky discuss coaches and athletes who have been successful and achieved excellence in their sports, recognizing that focusing on the means, rather than the ends, leads to true excellence. This applies to the spiritual life as well, and can be attained through Deep Practice, as Deep Practice leads us to blaze new paths, focus on the details and the means to go to God, in a way that is attainable and possible in the midst of our busy lives.
