(00:00):
Happy 2026. Delicious.
This is the delicious culture. Grab a plate, Feast on it.
I'm your host, John Francois. Oh, our meal.
Let's talk about what you did last night.
Did you have an eventful New Year's Eve?
Maybe you had a boring one. Well, if it was the latter, you

(00:20):
may not be alone. All right, I was looking at this
poll from gosunny.org. The top thing that we want to do
on New Year's Eve this year, watch Netflix or some other
streaming platform, you know what I mean?
So what were you watching? Were you watching, I believe the
rest of Stranger Things season 5.
Didn't the rest of that final season come out on Christmas Day

(00:41):
or am I mistaken? I may, I may have to look that
up. Speaking of which, is anybody
like losing attention on Stranger Things?
Like, I am like, I remember I was watching like the first half
of season 5 and all this sciencefiction stuff is happening and
all I can think of is, Oh my God, I cannot get on the Lyft
driving platform to go to work so I can pay my bills.

(01:03):
I don't give a fuck about this Stranger Things bullshit.
So I may have to like rewatch the episodes again to like,
really, really, really get into the story.
You know, it was Speaking of Netflix on New Year's Eve.
This actually brings me back to maybe 3-3 years ago.
Yeah, I'm going to say three years ago, New Year's Eve 2022,

(01:25):
my wife and I decide to stay in and play a drinking game with
this Christmas movie. Yes, you can watch Christmas
movies on New Year's Eve. It was called A Very Country
Christmas, and what amused us was it seemed like every two
seconds, every other character except Zane Gunther was saying
the name Zane Gunther. Zane Gunther is the country

(01:45):
superstar in this film. So my wife and I just played a
drinking game. Like, oh, hey, like, let's drink
every time someone says Zane fucking Gunther.
And it was fun. But you know what?
Maybe you don't want to stay in and do that.
Maybe you want to do the second place thing on this Go sunny.org
poll. Go to a New Year's Eve party.
Of course, why not? Maybe you are like my wife and I

(02:08):
and have the parties at home. I remember when I first met her
and she was sharing a house withher friends.
They would have other friends over.
Myself would come over and we would get drunk, play games, all
that stuff. There's nothing wrong with that.
Maybe you are of the religious kind, and I was like that when I
was a kid growing up with my religious family in Connecticut.
The I would go to the New Year'sEve service at church.

(02:32):
Maybe you want to just stay homeand watch the ball drop on TV.
So forget about that party or ifyou really want to go within the
party of it all and make money, maybe work as a banquet server
like I did like 12 years ago at this place called Farmington
Gardens in Connecticut, and justwatch other people have fun
while you just make money and wear a bow tie.

(02:54):
See a burlesque show. Oh my God, I remember my wife
and I saw a burlesque show last year, and that could be its own
New Year's Eve party. Watch people strip down, but not
quite. So there's so many ways that you
could go to a New Year's Eve party.
And if you did that last night, I hope you had a great, great
time. Third place in this gosunny.org.

(03:14):
People would love to get some sleep.
Why not? We've all had, I'm sure, a very
tough 2025 for various reasons. So to be able to just say fuck
it, I'm going to just sleep in in my nice quiet, peaceful home
while everybody else gets all noisy and drunk, there's nothing
wrong with that. And last place in this go
sunny.org poll. Scroll through social media on

(03:36):
your phone. Yep, 10% in this survey would
rather scroll through social media.
And you know what? Look, doom scrolling is a
popular phrase. We all love to see the news of
the day and just be like wow, mylife is over.
I want to slam my head into a notebook right now.
But there could be a such thing as happy scrolling.

(03:57):
Maybe there's that YouTube videothat you love so much of Mr.
Beast dancing on a pole for $25,000.
No, wait a minute, he makes people do that.
What? What am I saying?
Maybe it is that Netflix show that you've been wanting to
watch that you are content with in the minutiae of your phone
screen. Either way, yes, there could be

(04:18):
a there could be a positive thing through scrolling through
social media. I know is Netflix and YouTube
consider social media technically so technically so
technically, so it you know, I, I think YouTube we can socialize
to the comments. So that's social media and
Netflix. I wouldn't be surprised if if
they have comment sections undertheir under their shows and

(04:40):
movies someday. So technically, yes, I would
argue that Netflix and YouTube can fall under social media.
So lots of things that can be done on New Year's Eve.
There's no right or wrong way todo it.
However you did it last night was exactly the way it should be
done. I hope you're going to be
ringing in 2026 with the best positivity optimism you can.

(05:01):
I know certain events going on in the world may make you think
that this could be a dreadful year, but it doesn't have to be
in your own personal life. So I hope you make that choice
to have the best year that you can for yourself.
