a week. We will be right back after a

(00:58):
word from our sponsors. I heard the call, I heard the
officer. You could tell in his voice that
something bad was going on there.
March 11th, 2003 was already a busy night, but when Brownsville
Police Detective Sam Lucio heardhis comrades frantic call for

(01:19):
backup, he could have never imagined the horrific crime that
had been committed. Possibly you know three children
you know that that are deceased.Lucio and Detective Thomas
Clipper were two of the first toarrive on scene at they
dilapidated apartment on 8th andTyler streets.
That's where they discovered themost disturbing crime scene of
their careers. The bodies of three-year old

(01:40):
Julissa Quesada, 14 month old John Estevan and two-month old
Mary Jane. Mutilated by their mother Angela
Camaggio and her common law husband John Allen Rubio.
They. Look like a doll sitting there
without his, without his head. And and I was in one of the
bedrooms. They took the Lucille man in the
back and that's when he discovered the buckets where

(02:05):
they're cleaning the bodies, trying to get rid of the
evidence. And then we found the sisters in
plastic. Bags, Lucia and.
Clipper were shocked to say the least, but had to start the
painstaking process of documenting the crime scene in
order to find justice for the children.

(02:26):
A lot of people ask us that question.
What was it like? What you are focused on trying
to to not overlook anything to to get all the things that we're
going to need to, to prosecute this case.
Even after all this time, it's still difficult for these
detectives to relive that night. But the place where it happens,
it still stands. And it's located in a highly

(02:48):
travelled neighborhood blocks away from the Cameron County
Courthouse. When you drive by that that, I
guess my brain just brings me back to that smell into that
night. There's not a time that I don't
pass through. I don't think about the kids.
They also testified in Rubio andCamacho's trials, in which both
killers claimed they were drivenby an evil spirit to decapitate
the children. To this day believe he knew what

(03:10):
he was doing. He those those children were not
his and and he wanted to start fresh with Angela and and he got
real. He, he just couldn't take care
of them and he and he got rid ofthem, plain and simple.
I don't believe in any of the demons.
I don't believe in any of that stuff.
Hello, my demon insiders, and welcome back to The Demon

(03:31):
Inside. I'm your host, John Venom, and
today we will be talking about The Demon Inside, John Allen
Rubio and Angela Camacho. This is a case that happened in
Brownsville, TX and that's not too far away from where I'm at
in San Antonio and I didn't hearabout this case.

(03:54):
It was actually brought to me bymy cousin Sue.
So I'm sending her a shout out and letting you guys know if you
have any cases that you'd like me to look into.
You can always send them to me at
thedemoninsidepodcast@gmail.com or you can hit up my website,

(04:14):
which is at the bottom of the feed and just send me a message
and let me know. Before I continue this episode,
I just want to let you know thatthis is going to be a crimes
against children. And if this is something that
you can't listen to, I suggest just skipping over this whole

(04:38):
episode because this episode is going to get really bad.
And the only reason that I'm actually doing this is because
it has other connections with other killers that I've done
before, like Audie Sanchez and DAsia Watkins.
They both killed their babies bydecapitating them and saying

(05:00):
that they had to do it because they had to save the world.
So, and John actually told the police that he had a dream in
1999 and the dream had told him and I quote, had to help out and
change the world because there'sso much evil.

(05:21):
End Quote. So they also have other
similarities to other killers that I have done before.
And we'll get into that as soon as I get to to that part.
But before we do all that, let'sstart off with this.
So Angela Camacho was born in Matamoros, Mexico and she

(05:42):
immigrated here to the United States and settled in
Brownsville. In 2001, she met John and at
that time she already had a 2 year old and she was pregnant
with her second kid. Now this wasn't John's kid, but
John had no problem taking her in and accepting her children as

(06:07):
his own. As a matter of fact, when she
gave birth to a son, John named him after himself.
So for this podcast, I'm going to call the baby Johnny, so that
way there's no confusion. Now John on the other hand, he
grew up in Brownsville and in his younger days he had a few

(06:29):
run insurance with the law over minor drug charges, none of
which prohibited him from completing high school.
He actually graduated and he participated in the ROTC
program. John was actually the first High
School graduate in his family, but according to John, he had a

(06:49):
hard childhood because his mother and grandmother were
Alcoholics, drug users, and prostitutes.
As a matter of fact, his mother taught John how to be a
prostitute when he was younger and John told the police, and I
quote it beat flipping burgers at McDonald's.

(07:13):
End Quote. Now John also mentions that his
mother and his grandmother were also Guranderas and here in
South Texas, Akurandera is a female traditional healer or
folk medicine practitioner. Now John was a drug user as well

(07:36):
and he would huff paint like he would inhale paint to get a
quick high. And in 2002 when they were
together, John and Angela. In 2002, Child Protective
Services got involved and removed Jalissa and John from
the home. They were removed due to

(07:59):
malnourishment and a need for medical treatments.
Also, they were homeless. They would sleep wherever family
or friends would have room. But there were no findings of
any kind of abuse, physical or mental.
The couple was ordered to find suitable housing and take

(08:19):
parenting classes, and John was ordered to apply, obtain
employment, and submit to periodic drug testing.
The couple complied and found anaffordable residence and were
able to get the children back. However, shortly after CPS
returned the children, John losthis job.

(08:40):
This was in December of 2002. In January of 2003 they had
their third child, Mary Jane. She was born in January and so
now they have the three childrenwhich is Julissa is the oldest
at three years old. They have Johnny which is John

(09:04):
Junior and he is 14 months and they have a baby who is 2 months
when this incident happens. So according to CPS, John was

(09:24):
still doing his drug testing andpassing them even after he lost
his job. He unfortunately did start to
prostitute himself to make moneyto pay the rent and buy
groceries. His mother would live with them
from time to time and he had a roommate to help with the bills
moving forward. This is the interview that

(09:44):
Angela and John have given to the police before the stories
change. The reason I say this is because
in the interrogation room, afterAngela and John tell them what
happened, the police of course tell them that they don't buy
it. The police come out with their
own story and kind of force it on them that they were poor,

(10:08):
they had no food, they had nothing, they were losing
everything, and the only way to get out from under it was to
kill the children. But none of that was true.
When they did the investigation on the House, there was food in
the cupboards and the kids were doing well.
The only thing that John mentions is that he couldn't

(10:29):
find the rent money. So for me, this comes down to
demon infestation. During demon infestations,
sometimes money goes missing andthen it appears later on, or you
put down your keys and you can'tfind them where you last left
them or little things like that that drive a person crazy.

(10:49):
So on March 10th, 2003, Angela says they were on the bus, her,
John and the three children and on the way home in the bus there
was a little girl that tried to give Jalissa, their daughter a
candy. Now Jalissa didn't take it, but

(11:11):
John felt like she had put a curse on the kids.
When they got out of the bus they ran into a homeless woman
who John believes had the mark of the beast on her head.
They ran all the way home and locked themselves in.
He told Angela to do the wevil. Now, this is going to sound

(11:33):
weird to people, but if you're from southern Texas and Mexico,
are you Latino? You know what the wevil is?
Basically, it's an egg that you rub all over the person's body,
head to toe, arms, everything. And this is to get the evil eye

(11:53):
off of you. Like evil intentions are evil
energy out of you. And then what you do is you
break the egg, you put it in a cup with water and you put it
under your bed. So it'll suck up all the bad
energy and then you flush it outthe next day.
Now, if something bad has happened to you, like an evil

(12:14):
eye or something, the egg looks kind of cooked.
And John says that it looked like it was actually floating
and cooked, which is really weird.
So John called his mother and this is going back to her
testimony. John called his mother and she

(12:34):
came over later that night. John let his mother inside to
help with the curse. But once inside she began to act
strangely. She was pacing back and forth,
smiling at him and acting angry towards him and and talking to
herself. She left after less than an
hour. After that, Lorena, who was also

(12:58):
living there as the roommate. This is the roommate Lorena.
She had brought a friend over and they stayed like 20 minutes
talking amongst themselves and then they left.
Now it was close to midnight, soAngela and the children were
still awake watching television in their bedroom.

(13:19):
John's head started to hurt, so he turned off the television and
turned on the radio to listen toChristian music.
In order to distract himself, heand the children began to fall
asleep, and they put Johnny in his crib and left Jalessa and
Mary Jane on the bed. John returned to lay down on the

(13:41):
bed and listen to music again. As he laid there, he said he
suddenly felt weird, as if something bad was going to
happen. He began to hear strange scary
noises, and he saw mice running around on the floor, which he
had never seen in that house. He then heard his hamsters
fighting with each other, which was also unusual.

(14:04):
He kept five to seven hamsters as pets in a cage near his bed.
He described what he saw next asbeing like a movie or something
I saw on TV. This is John.
John says the hamsters would look at him with a nasty
expression and then growl. He said this had happened

(14:24):
before, but only when his motheror Lorena were at the house.
John then decided to kill the hamsters, so he sprayed them
with Hairspray so they would choke.
He brought the cage into the living room of the house.
Some of the hamsters were still alive, so he put bleach on them

(14:46):
and then took them out one at a time.
Guys, this is where I'm going toput a warning again, because
from here on out it's going to get really gruesome.
So if you really don't want to hear this, I suggest don't
listen to the rest of this. Some were still alive so he put

(15:06):
bleach on them and then he took them out one at a time and
smashed their heads with a hammer.
He then flushed them down the toilet.
So now John is talking to the interviewer.
So this is coming from John's interview.
He says Julissa heard me killingthe hamsters.

(15:28):
She woke up and came into the front room.
She then started to act strangely and she started
talking and like demonized, likeshe was looking at me like
weird. The police detectives asked give
me an example of what she was saying.
John says that she was making a growling noise.

(15:51):
She was like acting weird, like I don't know, I can't do it like
she did. The officer asked.
She was only making sounds. She wasn't saying anything, John
says. She was making sounds and then
she was like speaking in Spanishand she doesn't know Spanish.
I was like, who are you? So the officer asked.

(16:17):
Who were you talking to? John answers to her.
She was two people in one. Angela was awake by this point
and was watching the scene herself.
John asked Julissa who she was because she was acting like
someone else, and she told John she was his grandmother.
He began to speak with Julissa as if she was his grandmother,

(16:42):
and Julissa would respond. John said.
So I asked her, is it you grandma?
She said yes, what did you do with my daughter?
She goes, she's right there likeshe was inside my other girl.
Like Mary Jane. I said, what do you mean?

(17:04):
That's Mary Jane? That's not you.
No, I said to her like she was trying to give me like tell me,
but she couldn't say it. Like yo ES aya E aya ES yo.
So basically, and I'm sorry to interrupt, but basically in
Spanish he's saying I am her andshe is me.

(17:29):
So the police detective asked what she was trying to tell you
was that she was. John says she was in her body.
The officer says that your grandmother was in Jalissa's
body. John says yes.
Officer says Angelissa's body was in.
John says in Mary Jane's body. Officer says Mary Jane's body.

(17:54):
John says uh huh. John seemed to think that his
grandmother was possessing his daughter's body, although it was
a little weird. He went into the kitchen to make
something to eat, but he startedto feel woozy so he went back
into the front room. Now this is coming from the

(18:16):
officer writing his report. He then saw Jalissa cutting the
tape off of the electrical outlet which John had put over
the outlet to prevent the children from hurting
themselves. He said it appeared to him that
Jalissa was cutting the tape with a pair of scissors and then

(18:36):
trying to give the scissors to Johnny and so that he could
stick them in the outlet and electrocute himself.
John had taken Johnny out of thecrib at some point earlier.
John said he believed his grandmother's spirit, possessing

(18:59):
Julie's Julissa's body, was attempting to harm Johnny.
He shook Julissa and blew in herface in an attempt to cast the
grandmother out. He then put Johnny back in his
crib and began to choke Julissa. He thought he had succeeded in
casting out the grandmother's spirit, but in fact Julissa
either passed out or died because John was choking her.

(19:24):
He then called her and she revived, but began to say that
she wanted to harm the children to make them and him suffer.
Angela had entered the room at this point while John was
choking Jalissa. Now, the coroner says that all

(19:46):
these kids died of asphyxiation, like basically strangulation.
And it continues. They continue to try to kill
these kids over and over again because according to them, these
kids would not die. But I'm going to continue, so
listen to this. So after Angela entered the room

(20:11):
and John finished choking Jalissa.
Jalissa revived and spoke, so John asked Angela to hold
Jalissa down while he choked her.
He said Angela did so, but that Jalissa didn't want to die.
He then told Angela to go to thekitchen and bring him a knife,

(20:32):
which she did, returning with two knives.
John then stabbed Jalissa several times in the chest.
He turned her over and stabbed her in the back of the head
because he wanted to remove her brain, he said.
Angela was holding down Julissa's feet and legs but

(20:53):
turning her head away to avoid seeing what was happening.
So over the next few minutes, John gets a machete and cuts off
Julissa's head. He said Jalissa's lips were
still moving and talking and this scared him, so he separated

(21:17):
the head from the body. He was scared that the body was
going to reconnect with the headand she was going to be revived
again. He eventually put Jalissa's body
in the kitchen sink so he could wash it.
Angela put the head in a bag or actually Angela put the head in

(21:44):
a bucket. John then noticed that Mary Jane
was looking at him and he said to Angela she's next because
she's also possessed. They're all three together.
He then choked Mary Jane and sheseemed to die more easily, but

(22:07):
she then revived just as Julissahad and Mary Jane began to laugh
and he started laughing with herwhich suggested something was
wrong. He then decided to decapitate
Mary Jane as well. Now when he was trying to

(22:28):
decapitate Mary Jane, he couldn't find the machete that
he had chopped off Julissa's head with.
So he ended up cutting it with aknife as best he could and at
the end of it, he ended up pulling her head off with his
own hands. After he ripped her head off, he

(22:51):
told the police. It was very hard, but I managed
to pull her head off. So by this time John admitted
that he was getting tired, but he still had to deal with little
Johnny. Now before I forget, what he
ended up doing after he killed the hamsters was he nailed the

(23:16):
door shut, the back door, he nailed it shut.
And after he killed both girls, him and his wife, they took a
shower together and had sex. Now this reminds me of a show I
did it October 11th, which was the demon inside Monifa Sanford

(23:38):
and Zakia Avery where they killed their kids.
And then at the end of that theystarted stabbing each other and
then they made love with each other.
So now John says that when he confronted the one year old,
which was Johnny, he could just feel the evil oozing out of the
child. John said that Johnny was the

(24:00):
strongest of all three children. He describes Johnny as being
possessed with the strength of Satan himself.
He says that Johnny was trying to cast spells and spewing
incantations at him and Angela. He said it took him and Angela

(24:22):
both to hold the child down. John had tried sprinkling the
baby with holy water, but it hadno effect, he says.
This is John says he had never stabbed Johnny.
Although the police video of thecrime scene clearly shows stab

(24:43):
wounds to the one year old's body, the video shows that
Johnny was stabbed multiple times, including just below his
testicles on the right leg. John says that he used a sharp
kitchen knife to cut off Johnny's head because when he
was looking for the machete, he couldn't find it because he said
the demons had hidden it from him.

(25:04):
Now remember we talked about themoney that was hidden from him
as well. So now we have a machete that
hid. Now here's something that I want
to explain before I continue on is that machete was never found
and never put into evidence on the police report that was just

(25:29):
gone. Also, they ran blood tests on
everywhere there was blood. None of it came back to the
hamsters and they actually looked in the drain for hamsters
and couldn't find anything either.
So after he was done they ended up trying to clean up the
apartment and they cleaned themselves up and they put the

(25:53):
bags with the bodies behind the bed or under the bed and the
heads were in a bucket in their room.
They then laid down to rest for the night.
This was March 11th. Later that night, John's

(26:14):
brother, younger brother showed up at the apartment and John
told him and I quote, that we didn't want to do it, that we,
he didn't want to kill them, that he only wanted the children
to be well. Now when the brother saw the
bodies, of course it freaked himout.

(26:35):
Him and his girlfriend. They left the house or the the
house and they found the first officer they could and told them
to come and look at the house. When the officer showed up, John
told the officer, arrest me, I did it.
The officer didn't even know what was going on until he saw

(26:58):
the decapitated body. Johnny's body was actually left
on the bed, but the head was putin the bucket with his sisters.
Now, of course, like I said earlier, the police decided that
this was a let's kill them because we can't afford anything

(27:21):
anymore and this would be easierand we're going to do our escape
and we're going to go to Mexico. And they came out with the whole
elaborate story. According to Angela, she helped
him kill their kids because she believed they were possessed as
well. Could all three kids have been
possessed by the spirit of his grandmother, who was supposedly

(27:47):
a witch or a Kurandera? Could this have been a demonic
presence that showed John thingsthat he would never see through
his own eyes? Or was this just somebody that

(28:09):
went nuts? John and Angela are both in
prison now. John was actually on death row,
but he is now sentenced to life in prison and they're actually
trying to get him out. My thing is this how do you go

(28:34):
from accepting kids who are not yours, helping to raise them,
naming the child after you even when it's not your kid, and then
deciding to kill all three? I mean, think about this.
They went to parenting classes, they went through drug testing.

(28:54):
They went through all this stuffto get the kids back for what?
To kill them, chop their heads off.
There's got to be something to the story that both of them said
before the police changed it. I believe that there was demonic

(29:15):
presence, demonic infestation. I think the demons made them
kill their own kids because theybelieved the demons and what
they were saying and what they were doing was true.
And I think Angela and John werejust victims of this evil that

(29:42):
wanted them to kill their own kids.
