In the second episode of our Industrial Design Futures series, host Ian Chalmers speaks with industrial designer and engineer, Dylan Horvath. Ian and Dylan discuss the evolution of industrial design and its intersection with human-centered design, research, and collaboration.
Dylan Horvath is the founder and CEO of Cortex Design in Toronto— an award-winning design and engineering firm focused on human-centered design that aims to bring innovative ideas to full commercialization, particularly in the context of medical devices. He is vice president of the Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario (ACIDO) and co-president of the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers. Dylan is also co-founder and CTO of Lumatone, a company that produces a game-changing controller for keyboard players, film composers, beatmakers, producers, and microtonal composers. In his design practice, Dylan utilizes empathy, familiarity, cultural fit, user-centric development, and risk management.
