Yeah, that's a really goodquestion.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, what game.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Salamanders.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Salamanders yes, that's one of your favorite
teams.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
No, it's your favorite.
My favorite team is your team.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Oh yeah, that's a good answer.
Are you talking about theCleveland Guardians?
Yes, do you like theSalamanders too?
Yeah, why do you like theSalamanders?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Because they have a hat in pink.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
They do have a pink hat.
You have a pink hat in theCleveland one.
You have a pink hat in theDurham Bulls one as well.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
And salamanders.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
That's right, salamanders.
All right, are you ready forquestion number three?

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
This one is more along the lines of what is a
tradition, right Things likerituals, that you like to do
when you go to the ballpark.
What do you like to do when yougo to the ballpark?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Go to the store.
Oh yeah, go to the store.
Why?

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Because they always have jerseys and hats, but they
never fit me, they never fit you.
Well, maybe for next time whenyou get a little bit bigger.
Yay, you know, they are alittle expensive for your age,
and then you grow out of it inlike less than a year, it's true
, thanks.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
You're welcome.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
All right, we got two more questions left.
Are you ready?
Yes, yes, okay, all right.
Are you ready?
Yeah, alright, tell me, in youropinion, how has baseball up to
your very long life of sevenyears?
How has baseball changed yourlife?

Speaker 3 (04:59):

Speaker 1 (05:02):

Now last question are you ready?
Are you ready?
Yes, All right.
Why baseball?
Are you ready?
Yes, All right.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Why baseball?
I think it's cool and when theyhit it the ball goes super fast
.
And it's really cool when theyalmost hit it out of the
baseball field.
And when they hit it out of thebaseball field it's so cool.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Oh, the home runs, yeah, yeah.
Do you remember when we went togo see that glow-in-the-dark
game?
Yeah did you like that game?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Why did you like that ?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
game, because I GLOWED, because they glowed and
everything glowed, they glowed.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
They played in the dark and they glowed.
And the baseball gloves and the.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
The bats, the gloves, everything.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Everything glowed, the whole stadium glowed.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, the Globogees or something.
We have the whole stadium glued.
Yeah, the Globojis or something.
Is one of them called yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Well, when there's another class for baseball, can
we go get a hat and a shirt?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Absolutely Do it.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes Okay.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Now we've got to end this interview.
Are you ready to end it?
Oh, thanks again.
It's so fun to be in thestomach, all right.

right, all right, and telleverybody like and subscribe

(06:43):

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Like and subscribe.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Alright, awesome.
Well, thank you guys.
We will see you guys on thenext episode of Five Questions.
This king's gotta go.
Okay, this is exciting Having.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
CFO of Deadhead Industries.
Deadhead Industries huh.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
You like that, it's pretty good.
I thought about it all bymyself.
No brain cells were harmed indoing the thinking of this.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
I doubt that.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
So just strictly, only five questions, that's it.
So you better think about thesequestions.
Cheers on that, all right, areyou ready?
Yep, all right.
Well, welcome everybody to fivequestions.
But today in this episode Ihave my lovely wife, the CFO of

(07:38):
Dad Head Industries.
Dad Head Industries.
It's pretty good, I know it'spretty good, all right.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
So I didn't know.
We made a name change.
I missed that Right well, youknow it's.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
You know you got to get with the times, got to get
with the times, you know.
So we have.
I have five questions for you, honey.
Okay, regarding baseball, because it's pretty much the
sport that we both connected themost, although we do watch
baseball football together.
You are a Steelers fan, I amnot.
We'll leave it at that.
I am a fan of football now.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Oh, you're a fan of football now.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
The league, the league as a whole.
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know.
Okay, league as a whole.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, so it's a league of everybody, then you're
a Steelers fan.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
No, no, no, there are certain teams that I just don't
root for.
Oh, okay, no, especially theAFC North.
There's not a lot of teams Iroot for there.
Tell me how you feel aboutBaltimore.
I hate them with the utmostpassion.
At the time of this recording,of course, they're celebrating
the 30th year anniversary inBaltimore on a Sunday where
they're playing the ClevelandBrowns, which is fucked up.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Are they in Cleveland or are they in Baltimore?
They're in.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Baltimore.
They're doing a wholecelebration.
Maybe they'll win.
I hope Cleveland wins and Ihope they embarrass them.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Me too.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Yeah, well, you're a Steelers fan, of course you
would.
Alright, honey, are you ready?

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Alright, the first question for you when did you
fall in love with a game ofbaseball?

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Fall in love with a game of baseball?
Probably not till I was older.
I think what I appreciate themost about baseball is being
able to go to a baseball gameand relax and do nothing but
watch baseball and drink my beer.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Although it is a little different now that we
have a kid.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Well, yeah.
There's's not relaxing there'sno relaxing when we bring her,
but that's what I appreciateabout baseball is that I can do
one thing watch baseball, relax, drink my beer and that's where
I really kind of fell in lovewith the slow pace, the slow
pace, so that you can actuallyhave conversation with people
and socialize and all that.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
I agree I.
That's why I love baseball.
So but I love it to a wholedifferent level than you.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I mean we could spend the entirety of this segment on
that, but we won't.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
We will not, because it's not about me, it's about
you.
All right, give me somememories of about you, like in
baseball, like you know when youwere watching baseball, when
you're hanging out with people, how, when you were you know,
especially with your grandpa, because I know that's where,
like with your grandpa, that wasyou know the big thing with you

(10:13):
know him in baseball and I gotto enjoy that with him as well,
yeah, when he was alive.
So give me some memories whenit comes to you in baseball uh,
some memories with me andbaseball.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I mean I have a lot because, like you mentioned,
baseball has been a part of mylife for a really long time.
My grandpa, he played softball.
He did For over 65 years.
I mean he played well into his,I think like early 80s.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
He did.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
And so when I was younger I grew up with my
grandparents really close to me.
I lived with them for a reallylong time with my mom, and I
would go on Fridays andSaturdays with Grandma and
Grandpa to the baseball gamesGrandpa played he was a pitcher
so I have a lot of memories oftraveling with them to different
places and cheering at thegames and watching grandpa cheer

(11:10):
and or watching grandpa while Icheer.
Um, I think that's probably oneof my earliest memories with
baseball.
That, um, I really enjoy yeah Imean I was really young I was
probably mia's age when we didall that um, so they're not like
real strong memories, but but Istill have them.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Yeah, they're still there.
You remember them.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
I also remember my grandparents.
So my grandpa traveled andplayed softball for a really
long time in a league.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
And every time they traveled, my grandma and grandpa
would bring me back somethingfrom wherever they traveled.
It didn't always have to bebaseball related, like, for some
reason.
The one that sticks in my headthe most is they brought me back
, um, like a plastic doll of thethe big boy, yeah uh, which I
think was only like incalifornia at that time.
So like, when they went tocalifornia they brought me back

(11:56):
a big boy plastic doll, uh, butthey would always bring me
things back, so it was likesomething to like, look forward
to.
Um.
I have another specific memoryI was thinking about earlier.
I didn't even know you're gonnaask me this question, but there
was a period of time when I wasin high school and my mom
played on like a co-ed softballteam.
I don't even know if you knowthis no, very short period of

(12:18):
time.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, I know your mom plays softball there was.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
I mean, it was play softball, drink beer.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
I mean, that's what we do at Sandlot Baseball.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
And one day they were short on players so.
I played on their co-edsoftball team for like one game.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Dude, we've been together over 15 years now,
honey.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
No, I think you've heard the other part of the
story, which is I rememberspecifically the very first time
that I was up to bat.
Yeah, I swung the bat so hardthat I swung like my whole body
swung around on home plate and Ifell down on home plate because
I swung so hard, but I hit theball.

(13:00):
Most importantly, I hit theball, swung around on home plate
, fell and still made it tosecond base.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
So I call that successful.
That is successful, but I neverknew that you played softball
before me, because I've beentrying to get you to play co-ed
softball with me for how longnow, you don't want me to play,
not?
Now you saw me running inbaseball, so I mean I'm not the
fastest person.
I might be a little faster thanyou.
You are faster than me by a lot.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
And then, like I just then, as you know, being older,
we've been to a lot of gamestogether.
I can remember veryspecifically the game where I
was uber pregnant arguing with afan from the other team because
he was being obnoxious.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
He was drunk.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
It was his birthday, I think it was, yeah, and I was
like what are you going to do toa pregnant woman?
What?

Speaker 1 (13:51):
What?
And you're like?
Calm down, please, becauseyou're not the one that's going
to fight.
I am.
I was about to take my chancletoff and hit him with it, but I
remember that day because Ithink we were sitting down and
they were behind us were rightbehind home plate we were, and
then the um, the people next tous had to hold me down because I
was already halfway out up overthe the the bench and about to

(14:11):
go hit this dude, and they'relike it's not worth it, you know
, because I was about to go tojail for you.
Thanks a lot, honey.
You're welcome, all right.
Uh, I remember one time, Ithink it was like one of the
opening days, that it was socold and it was like.
I think it was like in the 40s,I think it was like oh, I think
it was like kind of likesleeting rain, that's what they

(14:33):
get for opening day at the firstof April in Cleveland, like who
thought that was a good idea.
No well, that's why I haven'tdone it in a while, but I
remember that day becausehalfway I think it was in the
sixth inning you're like I'mdone and we parked in the
parking lot across from theballpark.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
And I was in the car and you were on the parking
garage.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Looking over.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
And that game went like 14 innings.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
It did, it did and I'm like stop.
And I was like I'm ready to go.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
I'm ready to go, and you were in the car.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
The car was on with the heat, listening to the game
inside, and I'm outside watchingthis game.
I was so angry but I'm like I'mnot going anywhere.
We paid money for these tickets.
I'm going to stay.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I mean, I really enjoy baseball, but I don't want
to sit out there in the cold.
There's nothing enjoyable aboutthat.
I know Gypsy and then evenbaseball when it's really cold.
I'm like yeah, like my boneshurt watching you hit a ball I
mean now that we're here innorth carolina.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I do appreciate the fact that, like we don't have to
, you know like now we can play, that it is too hot and some
days yeah I don't want to go tothe baseball game.
It's too hot, exactly.
All right, we talked about, youknow, when you fell in love
with baseball.
We talked about sports memories.
Now tell me some sportstraditions or rituals that you

(15:47):
specifically do or that we dowhen it comes to when or you did
with your grandpa um, I think Imean we had a good tradition
there for a while of going toopening day games yeah, we did,
we had, we had when we were incleveland.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Yeah, we, we went to a lot of opening day games?
Yeah, we did.
We had a good streak.
And when we were in Cleveland, yeah, we went to a lot of
opening day games even when itwas cold.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Yeah, we were still there.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Even when, like they, sold out.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Yeah, we yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
We would still be like on the computer, like
trying to buy tickets.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Looking to try to get tickets, yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
So I feel like opening day.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
We should go back to that.
But even if it's like theDurham Bulls or like the
Salamanders, we should bringthat back.
The Gweno Home Opener.
I think it's fun.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
I don't know if it's really an official tradition,
but like usually it was, for Imean, technically, I did it
every time we went.
But every time I went to aCleveland game, do you remember
what I would eat?

Speaker 1 (16:43):
It was definitely a beer, for sure, um no, it's a
beer brat yes, that's right beer, brat and a beer.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
That's what I wanted to eat, and that's always what I
wanted to eat.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I'm like no, I don't want like there was no hot dogs,
no hamburgers, nothing was likeit was a beer beer, brat and
beer yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yeah, and it was regular mustard
, yellow mustard.
Yeah, because you don't likestadium mustard like I like
stadium mustard.
I remember that.
Yeah, you're right, 100%.
Oh God, I like that ballpark inCleveland.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Cleveland has a really good ballpark.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Yeah, hopefully, they just need better management.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Well, better ownership is what they need.
Better ownership yes, that's it.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
I think there was one we also like every year that
they made it in the playoffs, which was not a lot but we
always went to at least aplayoff game.
That was fun.
I don't know if I would callthis tradition, but I would call
it more like superstition, doing the World Series when
they're in the World Series, that I had you stay in the

(17:43):
bathroom.
You made me stay in thebathroom.
In the bathroom, rude, I did.
I had you stay in the bathroombecause when you were in the
bathroom they scored they wereahead.
They were ahead and you made mestay in the bathroom.
Yep, and as soon as they camedown, they didn't.
So I was like you better goback to the bathroom.

(18:05):
I'm not superstitious, I'm alittle stitious, that's it.
That's what it is.
I'm a little stitious, a littlestitious, a little stitious.
Okay, traditions we talk abouttraditions.
We talk about memories.
I definitely want to do alittle bit more of the
traditions now, especially withme, even though she's still
seven, so she's not really goingto be appreciating it as much
right now.
Take me out to the ballgame.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
We always sing it.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
We always sing it we always sing it Every time with
the hole all the way back.
Yep, I always do the wave whenthey do it.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
You can't not do the wave.
If you don't do the wave,you're a.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Tell Paul, paul, paul is not a fan Pony.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Paul.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
I know Pony Paul is not a fan, rude, not fan, not a
fan exactly.
All right, here we go um foryou in in your own way.
How has uh sport, the sport ofbaseball, really change your,
your life?
I don't know if I want to askthis question do you want to?

Speaker 2 (19:00):
ask this question um I like baseball, okay, and there
was a period of time in whichyou would come home and find me
watching a baseball game yep, ifwithout me, yep but you take it
to a whole nother level, um,where you baseball is always on.

(19:20):
It is baseball, it is softball,it's like college baseball,
it's high school baseball.
Like any form of baseball is ontelevision.
That has greatly impacted mylife.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Yeah, well, to the point now that, like every
Saturday, I play a lot now.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yeah, and you go and play baseball.
I go to a lot more games.
I didn't go to a lot more games.
I didn't go to a lot ofprofessional.
I can't even think I ever wentto a professional baseball game
when I was a child.
It wasn't really an option forour family to go to professional
baseball games.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
I didn't start going to them until.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
I was older.
Yeah, all right, gypsy she's,you're the squirrel.
Okay, yeah, I mean, even thoughyou had the scrappers there,
you had all the teams, but youreally didn't, we didn't go to
games like that, yeah.
Even though, again, yourgrandpa, like always, played in
it.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Grandpa, loves the Cleveland Indians.
We watched them all the time.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
We watched them on television, but we never went to
a professional game like that.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
No, that it wasn't really that much of an option
for us when I was young either.
To be honest with you, my dad'snot, you know.
You know my dad, he's notreally a fan of anything sports
related.
So it was like eh, whatever.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
I have learned a lot more baseball facts, yep.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Which has greatly impacted my life.
Well, and I do appreciate it,because when there's these
awkward rules that come upduring games, you're like what?
And I'm like yeah, that'sactually a rule, and you always,
you know when they say thestats and everything.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
When the wind is blowing from the right at
exactly five miles per hour andthe sun is at a 45 degree angle,
then the statistic is thisRight.
I mean it's crazy.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
It is baseball.
I mean, that's what we do, so Ilove it.
So I don't know what you'retalking about.
All right, honey.
Last question for you why, outof all the sports, why baseball?

Speaker 2 (21:39):
I appreciate this.
I don't want it to be a reallyslow game but I appreciate the
slow, almost methodical pace ofa baseball game that I can relax
but pay attention.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
But I'm not like the whole time like if you miss an
inning, you're not gonna.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
It's not gonna be the word the end of the world no, I
mean, do I like to get up a lotduring the game?
No, I don't, but I don't know II find it like relaxing.
I think that's why I likebaseball.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
It's that connection with me, At least with baseball,
even a little bit withbasketball, I know that at the
very least that I can play thesport, even if it's on a very,
very, very low level, right thanminor league or professional,

(22:36):
then at least I can still dothat.
I'm at 43, soon to be 44.
