I thought for a second I wasback in Cleveland.

SPEAKER_00 (01:06):
I know.
Tell me about it, Phil.
I'm looking, it's 22 outside.
It's not that in here, but it's22 outside.
So I got you beat, homie.
Oh, I know.
You're normally 10 below 10degree difference from me at
least.
So you've got to be probablyseven or eight minimum now.
It feels like um well, I didn'teven go feels like.

SPEAKER_02 (01:25):
Yeah.
It is, but it's currently 16degrees uh here.

SPEAKER_00 (01:29):
Okay.
Mine feels like 13.
What's your feels like?

SPEAKER_02 (01:33):
It doesn't say anything.
It stopped.
It feels like nothing.
It feels like you're dead.
Okay.
Right.
That's what it feels like.
It is horrible out here.
So really quick, I just so youguys know, what we were just
looking at at the literal spammuseum gift shop.

(01:54):
We are both fans of spam.
I'm wearing my spam hat today.
And I said, ah, it's a Itechnically this is a bootleg
spam hat.
You know what I mean?
So, but I want to get an actualspam hat.
And then we went down the rabbithole, there's spam hoodies.
Do you know that there's a spamapron on the website as well?

SPEAKER_00 (02:11):
And a backpack and sunglasses.

They got three different colors: blue, yellow, black sunglasses (02:13):
undefined
with spam on the side of them.
I mean, everything's spam.
Flip-flops.
You name it, they probably haveit.

SPEAKER_02 (02:23):
We we are going down the rabbit hole of spam.
And I think I might have to askthe wife for one of these couple
of these things for uhChristmas.
Like I'm I'm to the point wherelike I just want crazy funny
things for Christmas nowadays, just so I can enjoy them.
You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00 (02:38):
Like, I mean Rhonda says she still has uh some
things to get me for Christmas.
I'm like, well, this might bethe thing she gets me for
Christmas, a couple of theseitems here, right?
Yeah, I might need a hat and ahoodie or a hat and a t-shirt
and a hoodie or something, somecombo.

SPEAKER_02 (02:54):
That's what I'm saying, dude.
Like, you know, just something, something like that.
Like, I I asked for a watchcalculator, the Casio watch
calculator for Christmas.
I was like, babe, listen, uh,we've we're up to the point
where like we're I I've I've I'mvery blessed to be able to buy
the things that I want, and I'mvery happy with that, right?
I'm very blessed.

(03:14):
So I was like, listen, just giveme some of these funny things
because I think it's hilarious,you know.

SPEAKER_00 (03:19):
I know I do the same thing.
Oh, that's what makes it hardfor her to shop for me, and
she'll say that she's like, It'shard to shop for you because if
you see something you want, youjust usually get it.
And I'm kind of the same way asyou blessed that we were able to
get those things.
And you know, I remember thefirst year we're married looking
at the checkbook, seeing there's56 cents left, and we gotta make
it till Friday.
Dude, listen, the strongest.
I mean, we don't even you know,you don't balance a checkbook as

(03:42):
much anymore like you used towhen everything was paper, but
and and and thankfully the butthe balance doesn't get that
low, but right it's still it'sit's it's it's hard for her
because she's like, Well, if yousee something, you you just get
it.
So it is true.

SPEAKER_02 (03:57):
That's the thing, though.
It is very true.
Like, we just like we like, yep,I want this.
This is what I you know, I justwant it, and let's go from
there, right?
So, and there's nothing wrongwith that.
Absolutely nothing wrong withthat.
So I tell my wife, let's getsome funny things for myself,
you know what I mean?
Like, yeah, I think I sent herlike uh a picture of a hoodie,

(04:17):
uh, some uh like one or twowatches, like and they're not
even like these watches are likeless than a hundred bucks, you
know what I mean?
Like literally like Casiowatches, you know what I'm
saying?
We were just talking about it.
I just got myself a new one.
You know, this is the CasinoRoyale, right?
Yeah, it's it's gorgeous, youknow what I mean?
Like I said, I told you, we'veI've been going through this

(04:38):
like digital detox.

SPEAKER_00 (04:40):
Yep, we know how a nostalgic retro phase.

SPEAKER_02 (04:43):
Well, I've been I'm on my nostalgic retro phase and
I had not been wearing my eyewatch.
The only time I've actually wornmy eye watch is to go work out,
that's it.
Right.
Other than that, I'm good, youknow what I'm saying?
And I think that's why youprobably guys have noticed, I
haven't been answering you guysas fast as I usually do because
I'm not getting thenotification.

SPEAKER_00 (05:05):
So well, I need to get to that point too, because
most of the time I'll getsomething for you guys, and I've
got my phone in my hand already,so I need to I need to take a
hint from you and and put itdown and and step away a little
bit more often.
Right, exactly.

SPEAKER_02 (05:19):
So, but that's where we're at.
We're on spam edition here.
Um these spam socks lookamazing.
Have you seen the socks?

SPEAKER_00 (05:26):
Yes, the socks are awesome.

SPEAKER_02 (05:30):
Flannel pants.

SPEAKER_00 (05:31):
Yep.

SPEAKER_02 (05:33):
So it's the hats.

SPEAKER_00 (05:35):
There's so many good hats on here for all you guys
out there like us that lovehats.
There's a ton of different hats,all kinds.
They got trucker hats, they'vegot uh patch hats, they've got
all kinds of stuff.

SPEAKER_02 (05:47):
They got beanies and hoodies, hoodies, and I love the
uh we I put I have it on mycart.
I'm not kidding, all right?
I got it on my cart right now.
Three things.
Okay, I got the spam hat, thespam can hoodie, and then the
got spam t-shirt.

SPEAKER_00 (06:02):
See, now you've you've picked the three things I
want too.
So we might end up looking liketwins here because I love that
got spam t-shirt when I saw thatone.

SPEAKER_02 (06:12):
So yeah, I might retro, right?
Because it's like it's very, youknow, the the it's not full
yellow, it's like you know, verydistressed t-shirt, and I love
it.
Yeah, and so but there you go,guys.

SPEAKER_00 (06:23):
They've even got fanny packs.

SPEAKER_02 (06:25):
So oh my god.
I already have one, a good onethat I wear all the time when I
because I that's where I put allmy all my gear for when I'm out
and stuff.
Yeah, but yeah, that's whatwe're at, guys.
Well, so welcome again to uhbreakfast takes.
Uh, this is our almost 10minutes of talking absolutely
nonsense about anything that isnot related to Carolina Sports.

SPEAKER_00 (06:45):
That's right.
Oh, yeah.
Well, it wasn't a good weekendfor most of uh Carolina sports
uh that we have to talk aboutthis weekend.
I mean, we'll start with thePanthers really, because uh we
don't have any uh any any otherstuff going on college.
Carolina Hurricanes DivisionCollege wise.
We we will get to the other thedivision two and the um the we

(07:06):
were close, we were close, uhdy, for like the the soccer.
Yeah, and soccer, Furman.
Sorry, Phil.
I mean, oh man, Furman, oh man,Furman soccer lost Friday night
three to one.
I was I was making plans to beup there with you tonight.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02 (07:22):
See Furman playing uh but imagine being in there
and it's like being thatfreezing cold.

SPEAKER_00 (07:29):
Oh my gosh.
Did you see the speaking ofthat?
I saw I showed um Rhonda a videoof a guy at the uh the Bears
game at Soldier Field with theagainst the Browns yesterday.
Uh-huh.
Opening an RC Cola, and as soonas he takes the cap off, it
starts freezing inside and hestarts pouring it into a cup.
I believe it.
And it was like icy by the timehe got about halfway through it.

(07:51):
He had to squeeze the bottle toget the rest of it to come out.
It froze is like that.
I was like, there's no way I'msitting there watching a
football game.
I don't care what I you can'tput enough stuff on to be warm
enough to do it.

SPEAKER_02 (08:02):
I got to a point in my life where like you're
telling me, I'm sorry, how whatwhat's the temperature?
No.
Right.

SPEAKER_00 (08:08):
Yeah, you start you start getting into the numbers
that start with a four, I'm out.
Five.
Five, it's gotta be like fivefor push.
Yeah, it's gotta be a seriousgame that I want to see.
I mean, we used to go play golf, and my buddy would be like, Oh,
it's it's gonna be about 47 whenwe start out.
Like, okay, we're out there,it's gonna warm up.

(08:29):
We get out there, sometimes it'sin the low 40s.
He's like, All right, by thetime we get going, it'll be in
the 50s.
I got to an age where it's like, don't don't even go below
anything, starts with a six.
If it's below a six, I don'teven want to go out.

SPEAKER_02 (08:41):
We're golfing, yeah.
Like it's like, give me thesixties.
We're okay, we're good there.
It's all right.

SPEAKER_00 (08:45):
Yeah, 50s is pushing it.
Yeah, I mean, if it's 58 at like8 a.m.
when we're getting out there onthe range, okay.
I can I can start.

SPEAKER_02 (08:54):
Right.
Other than that, no.
No, no, no.
You ain't got you got me allmessed up on that one, right?

SPEAKER_00 (08:58):
But um, but Furman, I mean, Furman they played a
pretty good game, but man, theywere just outmatched by
Washington.
Um Washington Yeah, I was inbowl as you.
Yeah, I mean, they yeah, ifWashington got a quick first, or
not a quick, they got a firstgoal, second goal was insane.
Guy kicked it from uh other sideof midfield, and Furman's guy

(09:20):
got down there and he justmisplayed it.
Like it bounced and he misjudgedsomething, and it went it
bounced off of him and just gavethe Washington guy a clear shot
on the goal, pretty much.
And um, they went upthree-nothing.
Actually, they went upfour-nothing and got a goal um
reverse, fourth goal reverse foroffsides.

(09:41):
But uh Furman came back and gotone kind of you know, garbage
time goal with about three orfour minutes left to go.
But yeah, sorry, yeah.
First, hey, they made it to thefinal four.
That's pretty impressive forFurman against Furman, right?

SPEAKER_02 (09:52):
You took it technically an FCS school,
right?
You know, right against some bigDivision I school.
So congratulations to Furman ona great season.

SPEAKER_00 (10:00):
NC State got the win in their their game, and they're
going to the finals.
So they're playing at homebasically in carry there by you
tonight for the uh nationalchampionship in men's soccer.

SPEAKER_02 (10:13):
Yeah.
Again, it's gonna be cold.
Uh I don't know, man.
I don't know.
I don't know.
If it was Furman, I would havebeen like, yep, let's do it.
You know what I mean?
I'll freeze my ass up out thereand have some fun, but no, I'm
good.
I'll watch it at home.

SPEAKER_00 (10:26):
Yeah, I'm gonna watch it tonight too, and and
and see how they do.
Because I mean NC State was ascrappy team in that game.
And um Yeah.
Yeah, they got into uh I thinkthey got a couple of yellow
cards if I remember right.
I don't have my notes on that, but I they they were they were
getting into it because um whowas it they were playing?
St.
Uh St.

(10:47):
Louis, maybe I should have thatright in front of me, and I
totally forgot to put that onein front of me.
But anyway, that it was good, good scrappy guy.
I did watch it, and uh good tosee them uh advance.

SPEAKER_02 (11:01):
Good for them.
Congratulations, NC State.
Uh, you are still alive.
Your soccer team is better thanyour football team.
Yep, there's always that.

SPEAKER_01 (11:09):
That's right.

SPEAKER_02 (11:10):
Uh Wolfpack suck.
Um, so and you get to keep yourhead coach at NC State football.
Congratulations, gross.

SPEAKER_00 (11:19):
Yeah, good luck with that one.

SPEAKER_02 (11:21):
But yeah, Phil, um, you know, just wanted to put it
out there.
Yeah.
Thermerset here, it's cold, it'sstupid, and I don't like it.
Uh hello, good morning.
Thank you for joining us.
Um, all right, so you know, II've we were both watching this
game last night.
This well, in the afternoon, yesterday, and I'm like, all
right, they got this, all right, because it's the Saints, right?

(11:43):
Like, I mean, the Saints are ahot mess, and you know, I think
the Saints have taken the mantraof just being spoiler at this
point.
Good for them.
Congratulations on the Saints onwinning the game.
Um, Carolina just couldn't doanything in the second half,
just they shit the bed, man.

(12:03):
Yeah, they they only scored onetouchdown right out of the gate.
They went up uh 17, and then inthe fourth quarter was all New
Orleans Saints scoring 10points.
Oh, Chris Olave came alive allof a sudden.
Uh exactly.
You know, because it was theOlave show.

SPEAKER_00 (12:19):
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know.
I I was excited because Panthershaven't played that many four
four o'clock games, four thirtygames this year.
A lot of their games are at one.
So it was nice to have the latergame, to see a little bit of
football early and then settlein for that mid-afternoon window
to just watch them play.
And it's like, okay, you'reright.

(12:40):
The Saints, Saints beat themearlier this year when they
shouldn't have either.
So they already lost to theSaints once.
And I was like, but this Saintsteam is bad.
I mean, they got three wins, ones against Carolina, but yeah.
And they were one and five athome going into this game.
I thought, you know, it's thisdivision game, so I wasn't
thinking cakewalk, but itshouldn't be this hard of a win.

SPEAKER_02 (13:02):
I was I was thinking of a three-point win.
And I and I was thinking thethree-point win.
Oh, absolutely.
You know what I'm saying?
Because we last on last Monday,we were just talking about this.
We're like, all right, listen,it it's you know, it's it's
really going to be going downall the way to the last game of
the season with the Panthers andthe Tampa Bay Buccaneers because
the Buccaneers have been hitwith so many injuries that the

(13:24):
the Carolina Panthers would havebeen able to take advantage of
this, right?
We never thought that theCarolina Panthers were going to
lose to the Atlanta Falcons onThursday night because we both
had the the Bucks winning.
And then we were just talkingabout this hot door.
So we're like, this is a perfectopportunity for the Carolina
Panthers to take uh a strong youknow chokehole on this on this

(13:46):
division, right?
You know, I mean they couldpotentially be in the playoffs
and the shit the bed.

SPEAKER_00 (13:51):
Yep, they could have won this game and been up by a
game on the on the Bucs, andthen all they had to do was win
one out of two against Tampa.
Now they gotta win both.
Yeah, now they gotta win both, and in the middle of that, they
gotta beat Seahawks.

SPEAKER_02 (14:04):
So they technically have to win out, and that's what
I put yesterday.
I put it on threads.
I was like, listen, now you knowCarolina is behind the eight
ball now.
They have to win out in order tomake the playoffs.
Has this been a much betterseason than the year before?
Absolutely.
100%, right?
Because last year was just bad.
And I you know, here, I'll I'llread you some of these numbers,

(14:24):
right?
Um this quarterback went 15 for24 for one touchdown, and the
other quarterback went 24 for 32with one touchdown as well.
Yeah, Bryce Young was 15 for 24.
Yeah.
I'm I'm just so we go back, andit's not his fault, don't get me

(14:47):
wrong, but like his uh hisrating was 96, right?
QBR 73.

SPEAKER_00 (14:53):
Um he has those moments that kill you.
He'll have the moments that'llwin it for you.
I mean, it's just you don't knowwhich bag you're gonna get each
each game.
In fact, I like to call it thethe the um broadcast jinx, that
last drive.
They put on the screen he's had11 comeback wins to start the

(15:13):
you know, it's like right beforethe two-minute warning.

SPEAKER_02 (15:15):
Wow, there it is.
Done.

SPEAKER_00 (15:17):
Yeah, it's just like saying, Oh, he hasn't missed a
kick in forever.
They they kind of did the samething with Aubrey last night on
the Cowboys.
He's you know, he's likeautomatic.
What do you do?
Miss two.
Thank God he missed two for mein fantasy football.
Oh, by the way, miss thecowboys.

SPEAKER_02 (15:32):
Yeah, well, yeah, we should jump into a little bit of
the football because it was somedisastrous games.

SPEAKER_00 (15:40):
But to finish my point, so that drive, you can't
take a sack.
He had one sack on the day.
He cannot take a sack in thetwo-minute warning or in the
last two minutes of the game.
You cannot do that.
Just throw it away.
Throw it away.

(16:04):
Go to overtime.
They could have gone to overtimeif they could have just killed
the clock.
Instead, they have to punt it,and they can't prevent New
Orleans from coming down andgetting a field goal to win it.

SPEAKER_02 (16:13):
Do they I think they were they were overthinking
things.
Yeah.
Because they were like, oh,throw and throw and throw it.
Like, stop throwing it, run theball.

SPEAKER_00 (16:22):
Well, penalties, this is the other thing.
This is what actually killedthem for the game, and Dave
Canala said it.
First thing he said in the pressconference after the game,
penalties were the name of thegame.
Penalties killed us.
They were 11 penalties for 130yards, but not only that, six
the New Orleans got six firstdowns off of penalties.

(16:44):
Six times the Panthers committeda penalty that gave them a first
down.
That's I mean, you're justletting them keep the game going
that point.
That last penalty.
Oh my god.
Yeah, you cannot are you doing?
You know he's gonna slide.
You he's coming right up themiddle.
All you gotta do is be in frontof him.
He's gonna go down.

(17:04):
If touch is this two-hand touchwith the quarterback at that
point.

SPEAKER_02 (17:07):
Like, what are you doing?
And then you just throwyourself.
I'm like, you gotta be kiddingme.
As soon as I saw that, I said,Panthers just lost a game.

SPEAKER_00 (17:15):
Yeah, because you you kind of kept them back on
the field goal.
I mean, it was it was stillclose to range, but anything can
happen from there.
You give them another 15 yards, and you're just you're putting
it in the bag.

SPEAKER_02 (17:26):
But that's like, but but at the same time, that would
have been like you know, a wholethat's a 15-yard penalty.
Yeah, you know what I mean?
A 15-yard penalty, unnecessarypenalty that you know at that
point was a cheap shot.
Like, I was you know what Imean, and then they were talking
about dude, they were talkingthis kid up, right?
This kid from Ireland, he waslike, This dude is taking 60

(17:48):
plus.
I'm like, uh fuck.

SPEAKER_00 (17:50):
I know they showed him, they showed one of his uh
kicks and warm-ups from aboutthe spot.
I mean, dude, that thing wentthrough midway up the pipes.
That thing, I mean, he couldhave hit that from 70, the way
he hit that thing.

SPEAKER_02 (18:07):
Dude, it was in stupid, like you could have
gotten this kid come from.
Which which is a cool story.
I'll say that.
Like for the Saints kicker, verycool story, right?
Because it's the international, like they they teach these
international players the gameof uh the NFL, uh, and and and
they get to learn it.
Like he was a goalkeeper, right?

SPEAKER_00 (18:26):
Yeah, well, goalkeepers have to kick it
down.
I mean, they when they kick it,they kick it.
They have to get some leg intoit to get it downfield.

SPEAKER_02 (18:34):
Exactly.
And the fact that they were ableto do that, I'm like, holy moly,
you know what I mean?
Um, and so I was like, uh, thatwas it.
It was done.
I was like, uh, as soon as I sawthat, I'm like, oh, there goes
the opportunity for the CarolinaPanthers to really, you know,
take solid first place, right?
You know, right there.
You were first place in theSouth Division, and it was it

(18:56):
was yours because all you haveto do is literally all you have
to do is win one game againstTampa Bay Buccaneers right now,
which by the way, the Tampa BayBuccaneers more likely is gonna
be limping into the playoffs.

SPEAKER_01 (19:07):
Yep.

SPEAKER_02 (19:08):
Right?
And then they're gonna be a butCarolina Panthers are the ones
who who had the biggeropportunity.
Like, okay, fine, you lose toSeattle with and I was and I got
it in my comments, like, oh, youguys are gonna get your asses
spanked by by Seattle.
Seattle didn't look so good lastnight either.
So let's not let's not get ittwisted.
Um, right?
And so I was like, you gotta beshitting me, man.

SPEAKER_00 (19:32):
I know.
Between that last night with thePanthers and then the Cowboys
game, I was I was on Eric's sidewith the kicking game.
I was like, we gotta do awaywith the kicking game.
These guys are picking it toofar.
I was like, man, this is crazybecause they killed the
Panthers, and now I am less thanone point behind, but Brandon.

(20:00):
Albrey got got uh Justin Kish14.6 points as a kicker last
night.
And I was like, oh my gosh, man.
So I've got the Dolphins defensetonight.
As long as the Dolphins defensedoesn't go negative points, and
I just think.
Yeah.
But uh I can I can advance.
So we'll see.
Hopefully, Dolphins defenseagainst Pittsburgh tonight will

(20:20):
do okay.
But yeah, I mean we have withoutTJ Watt.

SPEAKER_02 (20:24):
So TJ Wyatt, yeah, dude.
Did you see what happened tohim?

SPEAKER_00 (20:27):
Oh yeah.
Yeah, he got the the the um theTyrod Taylor treatment.
The needle in the lung.

SPEAKER_02 (20:34):
The dry needle where I guess I'm like, oh my god,
what the f yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (20:39):
That's crazy.
Yeah, Phil, you're right.
Raiders Nation.
Oof.
That and what's what's evenworse about that was Max Crosby
before the game.
He was he was in the in the theface of the camera when the they
were getting hyped up, so tospeak, and he was like, It's
time to make a statement.
It's time to make a statement.
He made a statement.
It wasn't one you wanted, but itmade a statement.

SPEAKER_02 (21:02):
I feel bad for him.

SPEAKER_00 (21:03):
I do.
He is on a horrible team.
And I mean, I mean, Mark Davisis a joke to begin with.
So and he is not his dad.
He never has been, never willbe, and never will be.
And I I mean I actually I'll saythis.
I thought bringing Pete Carrollin wasn't gonna go this bad.
I didn't know if it was gonna gogood or not, but I mean Pete

(21:26):
Carroll's been a good coach, andI thought, well, it's the
Raiders.
He's gotta make them better.
No.

SPEAKER_02 (21:32):
Well, so so yes, I agree with you.
I think I still think that it'sthe right move.
I just think the the quarterbackis wasn't the right move for
them.

SPEAKER_00 (21:41):
Yeah, well, and see, that's the thing.
I thought because he had beenwith uh Pete a little bit, yeah,
um, maybe it was gonna click.

SPEAKER_02 (21:50):
I got you.
It wasn't.
No, no, no.
So I'll say this.
Um the whole the with the withthe Oakland Raiders, I think
that they're setting themselvesup for uh to draft Mendoza.

SPEAKER_00 (22:00):
Still call him Oakland in inhabit.
Oh, yeah.
Our brains can't process LasVegas.
I'm sorry, but that was you'reright.
100%.
I'm still but I'm the same way.
As soon as you said it, I didn'tthink about it.
It took me a few seconds torealize what you said.
Anyway, go ahead.
I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_02 (24:15):
Um, just because I they still look to me, they they
are Oakland.
But anyways, always will be.
But Las Vegas.

SPEAKER_00 (24:21):
Them and the A's will always be Oakland.
100%.

SPEAKER_02 (24:23):
The the Vegas Raiders are setting themselves
up to draft this kid Mendoza outof Indiana.

SPEAKER_00 (24:31):
Oh, absolutely.
And I mean I feel bad for thekid at this point.
I know.
It's like it's probably good forthe Raiders.
I don't know if it's so good forhim.

SPEAKER_02 (24:43):
So I was at a I was at a Christmas party this
weekend, and I was talking toone of my friends who is a
Raiders fan.
Long I'm this dude has been longtime Raiders fan, right?
He goes, like, listen, I want todraft this kid Mendoza.
I want him.
I 100%.
But here's my issue.
We need to work on thisoffensive line because the

(25:05):
offensive line is so atrociousfor Oakland that even this kid,
uh God, what's this?
The running back for Oakland uhout of Boise State.
Oh, um can't get anything done.

SPEAKER_00 (25:19):
Like, I mean, they couldn't get anything.

SPEAKER_02 (25:21):
I know, right?
Uh couldn't get anything done.
Nothing.
Not uh nothing.
And and I feel bad, right?
Because you're like you'reAshton Genty.

SPEAKER_00 (25:30):
Sorry.

SPEAKER_02 (25:30):
Yeah, Ashton Genty couldn't get he cannot get it
running.
There's nothing he could do.
I was like, you know what, dude?
You're 100% right.
You're 100% right.
Like, you need to and obviouslythat's why they're at the at the
top of the the draft.
It's because they're they're abad football team, just like my
Cleveland Browns team.

SPEAKER_00 (25:47):
Yeah.
I mean, they Vegas needs tospend all their money on
offensive line because you'renot gonna have to pay your
quarterback for five years.
No so you draft thisquarterback, you better spend,
you better overspend on youroffensive line.
That's all I gotta say.
I don't understand why any teamdoesn't put the offensive line

(26:08):
first.
I mean, they always they alwayssay the left tackle.
You don't need more than youneed more than left tackle.
You don't need to just pay theleft tackle.
You need to pay five guys aboatload of money to protect
your quarterback no matter whohe is.

SPEAKER_02 (26:19):
Thank you.
Like, I mean, that I know that'sthe same.

SPEAKER_00 (26:22):
Receivers are a dime a dozen, defensive backs are a
dime a dozen, linebackers a dimea dozen.
Defensive end rush.
There's so many guys that can dothat.
There's only so many guys thatcan protect the quarterback.

SPEAKER_02 (26:35):
Like legit can legit protect the quarterback.
100%.
I mean, look at look at the badteams that are at the top of the
draft, right?
Look at the top five.
They all have issues withoffensive line.
I know for sure that theCleveland Browns have issues.

SPEAKER_00 (26:49):
I know for I would take a hundred million dollars
and tell my my team, here's ahundred million dollar budget
for our offensive line.
You find me seven guys that Ican get for a hundred million
dollars that are the best attheir position, so that you have
two solid backups somewhere.
You hear this?
You hear this?

(27:11):
He's just baiting me, and I'mnot going for it.
Good, good, good on you.
Good on you.
He's not going anywhere.
Dabba's got enough, he's gotenough to keep him busy at
Clemson.
He's got enough issues alreadyat Clemson to keep him.
I don't let's not say that now.

SPEAKER_02 (27:24):
He does.
I'm sorry, he does.
I'll I'll call it.
You won't, but I will.
Um, no, but you're right though.
Like he the there has to be someoffensive line, and and it's
it's just, you know what?
I'm actually gonna look at thisnow because I now I'm I'm just
let's take a look here.
So the teams that have beeneliminated already are uh you

(27:47):
got a good amount of teams thathave been eliminated from
players, which by the way, oneof them, you know which one it
is?

SPEAKER_00 (27:53):
What?

SPEAKER_02 (27:53):
The Kansas City Chiefs.

SPEAKER_00 (27:55):
Oh, that was a bad injury last yesterday, but yeah.

SPEAKER_02 (28:00):
Yep, automatically you're done.
You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00 (28:04):
So uh speaking of that, real quick, um, I saw this
interesting fact I told Rhondalast night after that happened,
after that game.
So this year is the ninth is isis uh Patrick Mahomes' ninth
season.
He tore his ACL.
If the team is out of theplayoffs in his ninth season,

(28:26):
and um they and he's got threeSuper Bowl rings.
Oh, there's one person in NFLhistory that's done the exact
same thing.

SPEAKER_01 (28:34):
Who?

SPEAKER_00 (28:35):
Tom Brady.
Really?
Tom Brady.
When he went out and uh and MattCastle came in for him, that was
Brady's ninth season afterwinning three rings, and they
did not make the playoffs thatyear.
That's a crazy weird stat rightthere.
Is there two people in NFLhistory that have done it Tom
Brady and Patrick Mahomes?

(28:55):
And that's not one of the listsyou want to be on at all.
But it was just crazy thesymmetry of things like that.
I mean, you always think ofthese things that are just like
uh crazy.
Yeah, that's that's crazy.

SPEAKER_02 (29:08):
All right, so here we go.
So I'm gonna give you the topfive teams right now in the
draft.
All right, you ready?
There's only, and by the way, there's only two teams that have
clinched a playoffs already.
There's only two.
Yep.
And that's the Denver Broncosand the Los Angeles Rams.
Those are the only two teamsthat have clinched a playoff
spot as of today, right?
However, the top five, numberone, the New York Giants.

(29:28):
They got they got theirquarterback, right?
They got Jackson Dart, so theydon't need a quarterback.
Right.
The Tennessee Titans, numbertwo, right?
Um, they don't need aquarterback either.
They got Cam Ward.
So those two, those are twospots available right there for
you, someone to trade up to thisspot to get themselves a
quarterback.
Then you got number three, theLas Vegas Raiders.
They need a quarterback.

(29:49):
Absolutely.
Number four, the ArizonaCardinals.
They need a quarterback.
I have a feeling that um Call ofDuty Kid is not gonna be there
after this year.

SPEAKER_00 (30:03):
He's gonna get called to a different duty
somewhere else.

SPEAKER_02 (30:05):
Yeah, so he's gonna be called to duty somewhere
else, right?
And then number five is theCleveland Browns.
The Cleveland Browns, in myopinion, don't need a
quarterback at this point.
Don't don't even bother inlooking at a quarterback.
Shador Sanders is a good kid.
He, you know, you can buildaround that.
He is another one, another uhteam that needs help at

(30:26):
offensive line.
Start working that offensiveline.
But if you want to say, hey, let's get him uh uh an offensive
um weapon, get him a widereceiver.
You said there's DominionDominicans.
I get it, I understand thatpart, but like let's say that
they want to get him a widereceiver, this kid out of Ohio
State will be perfect for that, right?
Because Jerry Judy needs to goto Siberia.

SPEAKER_00 (30:50):
Dude, how do you how do you catch that ball on your
chest and let the other guy?
I mean, he didn't it didn't itwhat the guy didn't even take it
away.
The guy the guy was still tryingto tackle him, and the ball just
falls in his lap.
Jerry Judy Judy's chest.

SPEAKER_02 (31:06):
And then you give you give Shador Sanders shit the
last week uh about his play, andthen you go and then and you
turn that in, you need to goaway and just go away.
Like you talking all this shit, and then you did nothing.
So I I need to I need you to goaway, right?
So listen, at this point, yougot some teams right now that

(31:27):
need some serious help.
The New York Jets, another teamthat needs some serious help at
quarterback as well.

SPEAKER_01 (31:33):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_02 (31:34):
So this this this team might be one of those teams
that might jump into the one ornumber two spot to get
themselves a quarterback.

SPEAKER_00 (31:41):
Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02 (31:43):
Yep.

SPEAKER_00 (31:43):
And so they gotta find a way to do that for sure.

SPEAKER_02 (31:47):
Again, you know, I I feel bad for some teams this
week, uh, but you still a lot ofthere's some teams that are
still alive in in their uh intheir division, uh in their
conference to make the playoffs.
So, you know, there's some ofthem are still alive.
You got you know, you got theNew England Patriots who I'm
surprised they haven't won, theyhaven't clinched their division
because they lost yesterday.

(32:08):
To the Bills.

SPEAKER_00 (32:11):
Yeah, I mean, well, the Bills are Bills are on the
comeback.
Let's see if they can keepcoming back.
They've they've had a roughseason.
Yep.
Yeah, I mean, they just they putthemselves in a weird position
getting back to 10 and 4 fromwhere they were.
Agreed.
Agreed.
But but they're getting there,so um, all right.

SPEAKER_02 (32:33):
So uh let's take a look.
And so you got the the DenverBroncos, all right.
Portnoy needs to go away.
Who gives a shit about thatdude?

SPEAKER_00 (32:41):
Oh my gosh, yes.

SPEAKER_02 (32:43):
Portnoy, he was like, Oh, it goes through is no
you know what it could havehappened to a better person.

SPEAKER_00 (32:49):
I know I saw that video and I didn't see it until
um Schefter or somebody somebodyshared it.
Maybe it was Schefter, butsomebody shared that video after
the you know late in the game orwhatever, after the comeback,
and I saw it, and I did see hehe put up an apology video too
because he did what he did, butI commented, you know, I'm I'm

(33:11):
getting getting bad habits fromyou.
I like to start stuff now, starting shit.
I love it, and that when hereally wasn't starting
something, but I did comment onhis first video, and I'm like,
this is called a jinx.
Because that's exactly what hewas doing at the time.
You were jinxing your team bygoing off.

SPEAKER_02 (33:29):
Two teams that he roots for that have this have
not been a good weekend forthem.
Exactly, exactly, because he's aMichigan fan, and that's a lot
of shit going on over there.
Yeah, you should just keep yourmouth shut on everything at this
point.
At this point, shut the fuck upand don't say a word.
You know what I mean?
And so, yeah.
Uh all right, I'm gonna read theAmerica the AFC conference right

(33:52):
now, really quick.
Here, um, you got the DenverBroncos uh who just clinched a
playoff spot.
Um, the New England Patriots, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Um that's all I'm gonna say.
Uh Pittsburgh Steelers are 7-6.
Uh Baltimore is right on theiron their tail at 7-7, but
they're still, you know, thehead of the division.

(34:13):
The Los Angeles Chargers havebeen a really good team.
Uh, then you got the BuffaloBills, Houston, Texans.
The Colts are still alivesomehow.

SPEAKER_00 (34:24):
I mean, Rivers didn't do bad yesterday.

SPEAKER_02 (34:28):
I want to talk about this one, and we'll talk about
it tomorrow also on the DSCSports Show, but you have a guy
who is my age, by the way, myage, hasn't played in five
years, going up to Seattle, andyou almost beat the Seattle
Seahawks.

SPEAKER_00 (34:48):
Yeah.
Yeah, had him on the ropes.
They had to kick a field goal towin that game late.

SPEAKER_02 (34:55):
Brother, I listen, I I'm not this is gonna sound bad,
but he looked like he's been outof football for five years.

SPEAKER_00 (35:01):
Oh yeah.
Now he'll look better next weekbecause he's had this this time,
but yeah, he he realized, Ithink, real quick, it was a
different game now, too.

SPEAKER_02 (35:10):
Yeah, oh yeah.
My dude looked like he's beeneating one too many hot dogs at
the football games on a Friday, too.
I was my wife was like, Who isthat?
I'm like, Oh, that's PhilipRivers.
She's like, Really?
I'm like, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (35:23):
Well, it's for him, I mean, one for him, it's
fantasy camp.
It's it's the chance.
I mean, any any of these playerswill tell you if they have a
chance to go back and play onemore game or a couple more
games, they would take it nomatter what.
And most of them would.
Not everybody, but most of themwould like jump at the chance to
be like, You're telling me I canplay maybe four more games?

(35:44):
Yeah.
At at minimum.
Okay.
I mean, and more if you I mean,if you go out there and you do
something and you can get themto the playoffs, that's bonus.
You know, so yeah, anybody'sgonna take the chance.
I heard the craziest or read thecraziest uh story about uh this
whole thing.
Because everybody's talkingabout, oh, he's resetting his
Hall of Fame clock.

(36:04):
He doesn't care, he could careless.
That's an automatic, he's gonnaget in the hall of fame
whenever.
That just means his kids aregonna be older when he gets in.
That's the only thing.
He's a grandpa right now.
Who can you know?
Exactly.
But this is what I heard, andthis was what was funny because
I think Trey Wingo or somebodycommented on this.
Um, and and somebody else uhformer player conf the longtime

(36:30):
backup quarterback of the Saintsum forever.
Um Chase Daniel?
Chase Daniel confirmed this onTwitter.
He reset his insurance clock.
NFL players NFL players get freeinsurance for five years after
they retire after they retire, and then they have to pay for it
for themselves.

(36:50):
Dude's got 10 kids or whatever.
He just reset his insuranceclock for five more years.
That's what he did.
He came back, he came back totake advantage of the NFL, not
anything else.
He came back for free insurance,is what he did.
That dude is smart.
What a smart four more games inthe in the NFL, get paid, and

(37:10):
get insurance for five moreyears.
How awesome is that!

SPEAKER_02 (37:14):
He goes like winning.
You want me to reset my clockagain for five years for the end
for the NFL uh Hall of Fame?
All right, whatever.
Do I get insurance for five moreyears?
Yeah, done.

SPEAKER_00 (37:24):
Yeah, I can get in when I'm 44 or 45 if he wasn't
first ballot this year.
Or I can get in when I'm 50 andstill alive.
Yeah, still alive and gotinsurance for five more years
that I'm not having to pay withmy millions of dollars I've
already made.

SPEAKER_02 (37:38):
Smart man.
I'll take that.
So congratulations to PhillipRivers on resetting your
insurance.
Um, all right, so let's move onto the NFC because the NFC, it's
a lot a little bit lot moreclear that uh for these teams
than it is for the AFC.
So you got the the Los AngelesRams, who, by the way, they
clinched their division, theChicago Bears, who absolutely

(38:00):
walloped the Cleveland Brownsyesterday.
Uh, and by the way, MilesGarrett is on the verge of
breaking the single seasonrecord for most sacks by a
defensive player on a shitty assteam.

SPEAKER_00 (38:14):
Right.

SPEAKER_02 (38:15):
So there's that.
I'm sorry, man, but you took themoney too, so you could have
left.
Yep.
Uh, then you got thePhiladelphia Eagles, and then
you got the Teppa Bay Buccaneersat 7-7, who are, you know, ahead
in the division right now,right?
After that, you also have theSeattle Seahawks, 11-3.
I think they're prettycomfortable there as well.

(38:35):
Um, they have not clinched thedivision because they're a wild
card team because of the LosAngeles Rams uh being ahead in
their division first becausethey're 11-3.
You got the San Francisco 49ersat 10 and 4, which by the way,
they looked good yesterday.
Yeah, they did.
And the Green Bay Packers, whichis not good for the Green Bay

(38:56):
Packers.
Right.
Uh, they just lost Micah Parsonsfor the rest of the year.

SPEAKER_00 (39:01):
Yeah, that's bad too.
I mean, these guys taking theseACL injuries this late in the
season.
That's awful.

SPEAKER_02 (39:07):
That his was also a non-physical, like he was just
like moving.
Yeah.
There it goes.

SPEAKER_00 (39:12):
Yep.
And that's the that's the worstpart for a lot of these, is
you're just yeah, you're justmoving around and and something
step wrong or something goesslips wrong or jams and boom,
it's done.
And then you're done.
And then the Achilles injuries, because uh with a couple
Achilles injuries they've had inthe season, that uh you're just
rolling back and all of asudden, boom, there goes your

(39:34):
leg.

SPEAKER_02 (39:35):
Correct, exactly.
So then you got that, then yougot the Detroit Lions at eight
and six.
Uh our Carolina Panthers, sevenand seven, and right below the
Carolina Panthers is the season, the regular season champions,
Dallas Cowboys.
Couldn't happen to a betterteam.

(39:55):
Couldn't happen to a betterteam.
They're talking all this shitlike they don't need microphars,
they don't need this, they don'tneed that.
They're a better team now.
Nope, you're not.

SPEAKER_00 (40:03):
Yep.

SPEAKER_02 (40:04):
You know, you're on the verge of getting eliminated.

SPEAKER_00 (40:08):
Yeah, they've got um see who they've got coming up
here.
They got the chargers at home.
Forget it.
And then the Chargers areplaying good at Commanders at
Giants.
So yeah, they could geteliminated as well as.

SPEAKER_02 (40:25):
Well, they could technically get eliminated if
they you know the I think theycould get eliminated if the
Chargers beat them.
If I'm not mistaken.

SPEAKER_00 (40:35):
I would think so, because that would put them at
six and eight.
Yeah.
Because they got the tie.
The tie, or six, eight, and one,I should say.
They have that tie, which isweird.
But um, well, it's not weird.
I mean, we grew up with ties, you don't see it much anymore,
though.

SPEAKER_02 (40:51):
You don't see them anymore.
Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00 (40:53):
But um, yeah, so we'll see.
That that one that that halfgame difference of a tie could
mean something, but I don'tthink so.
I don't think Philadelphia isgonna let them catch them in the
division, and that division'snot gonna have two teams make
the playoffs.
So um Jerry.

SPEAKER_02 (41:10):
Jerry's the only one that's talking about not needing
Parsons.
Uh Terry, you you know thisalready, man.
You know, you know Jerry livesin Jerry World and only cares
about Jerry.
Yep.
Jerry convinced himself that hedoesn't need Michael Parsons.
He didn't need any anybody.

(41:31):
Everybody's like thinking aboutlike what is going on?
What are we doing this trade?
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And you said, Man, listen, traditional division team as
well, on top of that, which isthe weirdest.
Yes, it is.
Exactly.
I think once you get to acertain age, uh you need to just
you need to step down from aposition of leadership.

(41:52):
It's just how it is.
I'm sorry.
When it comes to the corporateworld, when it comes to Sports
world when it comes to politics.
Once you get to a certain age,buy Felicia.

SPEAKER_00 (42:05):
The Cowboys are at the point where somebody needs
to take his driver's licensefrom him.

SPEAKER_02 (42:10):
Oh my god, that'd be hilarious.

SPEAKER_00 (42:12):
I mean, that's what they need to do.
It's like, Dad, you're notdriving this car anymore.
You're done.

SPEAKER_02 (42:17):
You're done.
Dad, you're no longer the GM ofthis team.
You can't, you can't.
We can't keep doing this.
Like you're you're no longermaking sound decisions.
The problem is too, his son goesout there and makes stupid
comments as well.
Oh, yeah.
He learned it from his dad.
That's what I'm saying.
He learned it from said.
And then, you know, they've saidthis before.

(42:37):
They've openly admitted that theCowboys are an entertainment
team.
That's what they are.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, so that for them to reallycare about anything else, they
don't care about anything.

SPEAKER_00 (42:48):
Well, outside looking in, and Terry can
probably confirm this becausehe's closer to the situation.
I think the daughter would bethe best one to run the team, to
be honest.
I don't know much about her.
You don't know much about herbecause you don't hear from her.
Yeah.
But probably by the side.
Obviously, Steven is an idiotlike his dad.
Yeah.

(43:09):
Yeah.
I agree.
Um look at what um in the inIndianapolis, uh, his the
owner's daughter's doing.
Ursay, yeah, his daughter isrunning that team the right way
right now, from what I can see.
And all the shit that she got, right?
I mean, she's down there takingnotes at the beginning of the
season, and people are laughingat her.

(43:29):
I'm like, no, she's down therefiguring out what she needs to
do so she knows what she needsto do.
She's still letting the peoplethat make the decisions make the
decisions, but she's gettinginvolved.
And uh yeah, so she's she'smaking good decisions, I think.

SPEAKER_02 (43:47):
It's true, 100% true.
Um, the Cowboys have not caredabout a championship in so long.
It's kind of funny to see that.
But you're right though, uhUrse's daughter has has been
doing it the right way, and shegot so much flack for like being
on the sidelines with theheadset on and taking notes.
I'm like, good for her.

SPEAKER_00 (44:05):
She's learning.
I mean, she hasn't been doingthis like Ursay had for years.
She's trying to figure out she'snot gonna keep doing that, she's
just trying to understand whatshe needs to understand to be
able to make the decisions andmake sure people don't bullshit
her.
I think that's what she's doing.
She's probably making sure thatthe the people she has running
things don't give her a bunch ofstuff and she's like, oh, okay,

(44:26):
that sounds feasible.
And they're just BSing her.
So yep.

SPEAKER_02 (44:29):
Which you know what, though?
I'm good for her.
Like, you know, at the sametime, it's her money.

SPEAKER_00 (44:34):
She needs to make sure she's paying it right.
It's her team.
That's right.

SPEAKER_02 (44:37):
Listen, if we're gonna sit here and say that the
Cowboys can do whatever theywant because it's his team, or
the Raiders, or the ClevelandBrowns, or you know, these other
bad teams, then yeah, we can saythe same thing with the
Indianapolis coach.
And good on her, do your thing.
She hasn't and she hasn't reallysaid anything about it.
She's just like, yeah, no, Ijust want to learn, you know,

(44:57):
the game.
Yeah, absolutely.
And what a better way to do it.
If you listen, and let's not actlike none of us would have done
the same thing.

SPEAKER_01 (45:06):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_02 (45:06):
I'm the owner of the uh the uh the coach, I would
have been doing the same thing.
I'm like, I'm there with aheadset trying to figure it out.

SPEAKER_00 (45:13):
Exactly.

SPEAKER_02 (45:15):
The last Cowboys Super Bowl I have recorded on
VHS cassette tape.
I'm not hating on the Cowboysbecause my team has never won
the two the Super Bowl, right?
I'm a Cleveland Browns fan.
Not hating as much, but it'sjust I the the Cowboys have an
opportunity to be so much betterthan they really are.
You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00 (45:36):
Exactly.
Exactly.
Yep.
You're right.
Yeah.

SPEAKER_02 (45:41):
Yes, he's made more positive front office moves and
roster moves in a year than myRaiders have in the last two
decades.
Same with the Cleveland Browns.
Again, I cannot hate thisbecause I have nowhere to stand
on this.
You know what I mean?
My team they gave a fullcontract,$250 million contract
to a quarterback that doesn'tdeserve it.
So I can't talk.

SPEAKER_00 (46:01):
We got some Raider fans following us, so that's a
good thing.
I mean, hopefully, uh hopefullybetter things come to uh to the
Raider fans because uh theydeserve more than than what
they're getting right now out oftheir owner for sure.

SPEAKER_02 (46:13):
The only thing I'm gonna give them, I'm gonna give
him flack on is is that theirstadium looks like a Roomba.
The Raiders stadium.
That's it.
Other than that, I have no hateon them on the Raiders, uh, on
the Vegas Raiders.
I I I gotta keep saying it moreand more.
I know it's been a couple yearsnow, but it's Vegas Raiders,
Vegas Raiders, Vegas Raiders.

SPEAKER_00 (46:30):
I saw the best thing yesterday, too, about uh about
the Cowboys uh drought, and thatis that uh John Cena graduated
high school, went to college, played football, became a
wrestler, did all the things hedid as a wrestler, became an
actor, went back to wrestling, retired all in the time since
the Dallas Cowboys won theirlast championship.

(46:51):
His entire life since even inhigh school has happened since
the Cowboys last won achampionship.
That that put starts puttingstuff in perspective when you
have stuff like that thrown inyour face.

SPEAKER_02 (47:00):
If you were to ask a Cowboys fan or a Raiders fan,
you know what they want forChristmas, I'd be fine.
It'd be funny to find outexactly what they want.
Most likely they'll tell youthey want a new ownership at
absolutely.
You know what I mean?
Absolutely.
I just want to win, baby.

SPEAKER_00 (47:14):
Well, you'd say the same thing about Cleveland.

SPEAKER_02 (47:16):
Oh god, yeah.
Yeah.
You know what's funny you saythat?
So there's a report that cameout for the Cleveland Browns
that um there if they were tofire Stefansky, which at this
point I'm not mad at, I'll behonest with you.
Like I I I can't defend himanymore.
Yeah.
But they're looking at RobertSala, defensive coordinator for

(47:38):
the 49ers.
I'm like, I'm okay with this.

SPEAKER_00 (47:42):
Yeah.
I could see that.
I mean, you got a solid defense, you got the best deep one of the
best defensive players there is.
Yep.
If not the um yeah, that's not abad thought.

SPEAKER_02 (47:54):
I I just need to you need to start with the GM first.
You need to get rid of the GMfirst there because he has done
absolutely dog shit of nothing.

SPEAKER_00 (48:02):
I mean, if you're Robert Solo, though, do you want
to have the second team yourhead coach of be the the Browns
after you win with the Jets?
I mean you're not getting you'renot getting handed the key.
I mean, it's like you you yo dadbought you one used car, now
he's buying you another one,he's not getting you a new one.

SPEAKER_02 (48:18):
You're getting a used Honda Civic on this point,
all right?
God, I'm sorry.
It's the truth.
Um you're getting a used HondaCivic.
Um, you know, it's funny.
Let me I'll say it.
So, what did you guys think ofthe Rivers comeback?
Some of the historians againstus, that Seattle defense were
insane considering his age andthe time that he had away from

(48:39):
the game.
I thought they were uh unluckyto lose.
Listen, 40.

SPEAKER_00 (48:46):
The last comment I agree with, they were unlucky to
lose.
He he can't he got them back andthey got the field goal late in
that game.
I think it was in the last twominutes of the game that he
drove them down, got a fieldgoal, and I thought, oh, they're
gonna win.
Then I I looked away and I comeback to it, and I saw they've
they've done giving up somethingto allow them to come back and
get a touch or a field goal towin it.

(49:07):
I I was yeah, they they werevery unlucky to win or to lose
that game because I thought theyhad it won when he drove them
down for that last time.

SPEAKER_02 (49:14):
Listen, at the second half, at the beginning of
the at the halftime, I was like,oh all right, okay, Andy, you
may got the you may get the winon this one, right?
Congratulations.
I was saying it's like fulltransparency.
I thought there was going to bea train wreck.

SPEAKER_00 (49:28):
Yeah, I thought it was gonna be a much worse than
this.
Because like I said, I I didn'twatch the game.
I flipped over to Game Cast justto see because I saw the score.
Yeah, was they were only down bythree, and I was like, okay,
it's less than a minute to go.
And they've I I looked down, Ithink it was actually fourth
down or third down, it was thirdand something, or fourth down
something.
And I'm like, okay, this istaking a long time.

(49:50):
Are they gonna get get a fieldgoal out of this?
And then they did, and they gottheir field goal with 47 seconds
to go in the game.
How in 47 seconds do you letSeattle go down there and get a
field goal?
Come on, man.
Y'all gotta do better.
In five plays, they only went 25yards in five plays to get a
field goal.

SPEAKER_02 (50:07):
46 MD.
I'm with you 100%.
He doesn't get a pass.
Does not.
All right.
He does not get a pass.
Uh 44 years old, though.
You know what I mean?
Uh, congratulations on goingoutside, Phil.
Not doing that.

SPEAKER_00 (50:23):
Good luck, Phil.
He's headed off to school.
Teach some kids.

SPEAKER_02 (50:27):
Go ahead and teach some kids.
Um, all right.
I agree.
Rivers gave it everything hehad.
I was part of the airport.
It was a heartbreaking loss.
100%.

SPEAKER_01 (50:34):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_02 (50:35):
And you're that's your team, uh, Patrick.
So uh listen.
I I I I had Seattle winning.
I picked Seattle.
Uh just for the simple fact thatit was going to be Phillip
Rivers, but it wasn't PhilipRivers who was actually lost the
game.
He actually he he was, and thenand this comes a lot of people

(50:55):
are gonna say this with you knownegative connotation.
I'm not.
He was a game manager.

SPEAKER_00 (51:00):
Yeah.
Well, that's kind of what theColts needed.
They needed somebody to try tohold down the fort and maybe
hold on to the season and see ifthey can, you know.
Seattle's a tough try to get.

SPEAKER_02 (51:11):
Um right after you lose your two quarterbacks.

SPEAKER_00 (51:14):
Yeah, I mean, it it that's a tough game for him to
come in and try to get.
Problem is the next three gamesare just as tough.
It's just as tough.
They were trying to hold on andsee if they could get a playoff
spot, and you asked PhillipRivers to come in and get you
some wins.
Like, I mean, they've alreadylost to the Chiefs, the Texans,
and the Jaguars in a row beforethis game.
They had the Seahawks thisweekend, they got the 49ers, the

(51:37):
Jaguars, and the Texans comingup.
I mean, dude, that I don't careif you got your starting
quarterback.
That is what is that?
That's that's a seven-gamestretch.
I don't care who you are.
That's a hard stretch this year.
That's the worst of the world.
I mean, you got the the that hadto be the hardest schedule right
there.

SPEAKER_02 (51:56):
And the Texans put 40 on the Cardinals.
Yeah.
Right?
And so the Texans move up now.
They're uh second in thatconference.
Um, and so I feel bad for theColts.
I mean, I wish I think they werelike, all right, listen, we
don't feel too confident aboutthis game, but we can we can at
least try to steal a game.
If we can steal this game, thenwe can set ourselves up pretty

(52:17):
good.
Yeah, um, but it didn't happen.
And you know, I congratulationsagain to Phillip Rivers.

SPEAKER_00 (52:25):
Yeah, I mean, they if they get to that that one,
they're still in nine and fivewith the Texans, and anything
can happen potentially.

SPEAKER_02 (52:33):
Again, we could I go back to like what you said, he
just reset his insurance foranother five years.
Congratulations, Phillip Rivers.

SPEAKER_00 (52:39):
And and the thing is, he looked at the schedule
and he's like, well, if we don'tlook we don't win any games,
they can't blame me.
That's a hard schedule anyway, and I'm just trying to manage
things.
So as long as they're notgetting blown out because of
him, then he's done his job.

SPEAKER_02 (52:53):
So uh all right, guys, uh again, we we will keep
talking about this one becauseuh it technically also the the
Carolina Panthers are not deadyet.
Yep.
They're they have not beeneliminated, they're it they
still have a shot at winning thedivision.
I don't know how good of a shotis, but they you know what I
mean.
I think it's pretty safe to saythat they can still have a shot

(53:15):
if they were to beat, you know,um the the uh Tampa Bay Bucks
coming up next week and also uhSeattle.
So we'll see.
We'll get there.
But we need to talk about twothings really quick.
Okay, we need to talk about theCelebration Bowl, South Carolina
State.
Yep.
Okay.
Uh, and then we need to talkabout Newberry.

SPEAKER_00 (53:32):
Yeah, that so that went bad fast on them.
So yeah, we uh for you guys thatare new out here on the chat,
tune in Tuesday night, uh 8 p.m.
Eastern.
Uh, you'll hear a lot more NFLtalk.
We'll have the other guys forthe DHC sports show.
Uh, we just want to try tofinish out today with a little
bit more of our North Carolina,South Carolina sports here.

(53:52):
And uh we'll we'll we'll startwith Newberry because that was a
bad one, and we'll finish withon a good note with South
Carolina State.
So, yeah, Newberry Ferris State,uh uh FCS playoffs.
Um I I had had not high hopes, but I had better hopes for them
than than how it turned out.
I mean the weather was nasty.
Gross.

(54:12):
It was up in Michigan.
Yeah, I mean, it looked for thefirst half, it looked like both
teams were playing in an uh oron an ice rink.
They were just trying to slideand stutter stepping.
I was like, oh my gosh, this isthis is kind of crazy.
Um, but it worked in I mean thatFair State's used to that, and
it worked in their favor.

(54:33):
Um uh Reed Sharpie for NewNewberry, who's had a fantastic
season, did not have a fantasticgame.
He was 30-48 for 348 yardspassing in that mess.
Problem was he threw fiveinterceptions.
And four of those interceptionsturned into 28 points.

SPEAKER_02 (54:50):
20 points.
Terry, I was just I was gonnalet him talk about Newberry, but
I was like, Oh, yeah, oh, I hadI have Ferris State winning.
I'm not gonna lie.
I I had them win because FarrisState is a tough team.
They've been so tough the lastcouple of years.
This has been one of the topteams in Division II.

SPEAKER_00 (55:06):
I didn't expect Newberry to win this game.
I just expected them to showbetter.

SPEAKER_02 (55:09):
To show up a little bit more.
Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (55:11):
I I had no I had no illusions of them winning this
game.
I mean, anything's possible, butuh this is the stat that'll
that'll make the difference inthis game because of the
weather, and this is howpowerful that Ferris State is.
They only threw the ball uh 14times the whole game.
They were eight of fourteen.
They had two touchdowns, 143yards passing.

(55:33):
You're like, that's okay.
Yep.
Yeah.
They ran the ball 55 times for368 yards.

SPEAKER_02 (55:40):
I'll say this there was one thing that I was a
little disappointed in Newberryin.
It was, did you see that lastplay?
Almost like one of the lastplays of the the game.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I watched that whole game.
When Fair State scored thattouchdown and then he ran, and
then these two dudes justwalloped the quarterback, the
Fair State quarterback.

SPEAKER_00 (56:00):
Yep, yep.
That I mean, that wasfrustration.
That was definitely frustration.
All that was was frustration, totally frustration.
Um yeah, I mean Newberry had uh384 yards passing, but they only
ran the ball 18 times.
So I mean it was a it was atotal game of opposites.
Newberry, they're built on apassing game with Sharpie.

(56:24):
And it just in that weatherconditions, you just you can't,
I mean, you can't throw fiveinterceptions.
When you give up 28 points on onfour interceptions and they only
scored 49 points, I mean, youtake that out of the equation,
it's a whole different, closergame.
But yeah, yeah, it was used tothe weather, they were prepared

(56:45):
for it, and they are built forit with that running game.
It the next game in uh in theplayoffs for them is gonna be
crazy.

SPEAKER_02 (56:54):
Yeah, they it it's congratulations again to Fair
State.
They're you know, it's one of myfavorite logos that they have in
college football.
Oh, yeah, red helmet.
It's awesome.
Absolutely.
But Newberry, like at the end,and I get it.
Listen, I understand you're justgetting you're getting wallop
and they're scoring on you.
I get that, I understand, butyou gotta be better than dad.

(57:16):
You cannot let your emotions getthe better of you.
Yeah, and uh he was alreadyinside the well, already scored.
Yeah, there was no need, no needfor you to go ahead and do what
you did.

SPEAKER_00 (57:29):
Exactly.
Yeah, I mean it game game waspretty much over at that point,
too.
That's just you you can't bedoing that.

SPEAKER_02 (57:36):
So uh congratulations to Ferris State.
That was a dominant, dominantgame.
Um, and uh great, great win onthat.

SPEAKER_00 (57:45):
Um that's gonna set up a uh a championship game
between them and Harding.
Harding's undefeated.
Harding beat Cutstown 49-27, andFerris State beat Newberry
49-17.
So that championship gamebetween Ferris and Harding is
gonna be awesome.

SPEAKER_02 (58:02):
I cannot wait to see that game.
Cannot wait to see that game.
Then you got if and we'll talkabout more of these into
details, guys, later on tonightat 8 30 p.m.
Uh definitely wanna definitelywant to tune in, okay?
Um, but uh uh John Carroll, uhout of uh Ohio, you know, like
University of Heights, Ohio, uhbeat uh Barry College 21-13.

(58:24):
And then you had Johns Hopkinsputting an absolute wallop of a
game, 40 points on Sasquehana.
Susquehana?
Sasquehana.
Sasquehana.
So there you go.
That's as much as I'm gonna talkabout this because that's more
for tonight, but we needed totouch on Newberry just because
they are, you know, in theCarolinas, and uh, we needed to

(58:45):
talk about that one.

SPEAKER_00 (58:46):
So and then the last one we want to talk about is
South Carolina State getting thewin in the celebration bowl.
Uh, shout out to South CarolinaState.
Now that game was a heck of agame, uh, back and forth.
I mean, South Carolina Statelost their quarterback uh in
that game uh early, and he was atransfer from James Madison.

(59:07):
He was just trying to get onemore year in from James Madison.
And um, so uh yeah, that wasthat the this game went four
overtimes.
Put it that way.
Now, I will say this.
Um you know, Stubblefield camein for South Carol State and he
got them rolling as a backupquarterback.

(59:28):
15 of 29, 234 yards.
Uh he threw one interception inovertime, which cost them the
first overtime.
Uh, but luckily for them, uhPrairie View missed a field goal
attempt as well in thisovertime.
So after the second overtime, you have to go for two.
Yep.
Neither one of them could get atwo-point conversion in the

(59:50):
third overtime.
They both got stopped.
Uh fourth overtime, SouthCarolina State pass play to the
corner.
Guy reaches for the pylon.
I'll be honest, that uh that's abad call.
I mean, I'm gonna take the win,but they I think they missed
that call.
They they they reviewed itforever.
I don't think he got the ballacross the line over the pylon.

(01:00:13):
I think he was clearly outsidethe pylon when he stretched.
Um, technically that should havebeen out at like the six-inch
line.
Uh, but they reviewed it,reviewed it, reviewed it, gave
it to South Carolina State, andPrairie View on their next play
got blowed up.

SPEAKER_02 (01:00:29):
And he tried the original call was touchdown, so
they were trying to look foranything and everything to say
that you know, to overturn.
So a lot of times, clearevidence.
Yeah, they need to findclearance.
And I think when they say callstands is we didn't find
anything.
You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00 (01:00:45):
Exactly.
I mean, and they're in an NFLstadium and they've got more
cameras than they had anoverhead shot looking straight
down at that play.
Yeah, I don't understand how youcan look at that shot and not
say that that ball was wasoutside the pylon.
But anyway, South Carolina Stategets to win right 40 to 38 and
four overtimes, and exactly.

(01:01:05):
So they're national championsfor two times in uh last five
years now.
So absolutely, Terry.
That's the thing.
It's like like like last night,I mean, going for a field goal
when you're down eight andthere's like less than a minute
or so to go in the game, and I'mlike, are they playing for the

(01:01:29):
the the betting line here orwhat?

SPEAKER_02 (01:01:30):
Oh yeah, the what was that?
They were playing for the onsidekick, so yeah, they were they're
trying to get us some points toget them closer.
And I get it, I understand.
So people are gonna are gonnasay, well, like, well, the
betting, and I'm like, no, it'snot betting, it's just you I you
hate to see it, but it's thetruth.
You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00 (01:01:47):
So uh uh real quick too, just for Carolina Sports,
your Canes.
Carolina Hurricanes went fourand they were losing early on,
they were losing three nothing.
They lost they won three games, their last three games.
Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
They play back-to-back Saturday,Sunday against the Flyers.
They won all three games inshootouts.

SPEAKER_02 (01:02:05):
I'll tell you this.
Last night game, I thoughtPhilly had that game.
100% I thought, well, we can getthem all, right?
I 100% thought that they weregoing to lose that game.
And I cut I go to bed, you know, and it's like, all right,
whatever.
It is what it is.
I I wake up and I'm like, oh,okay.

SPEAKER_00 (01:02:22):
I know.
I was going back getting thescores for the games because I
had not looked at that witheverything else going on, all
the FCS football, the stategame, all the foot NFL.
It's like, okay, I hadn't reallypaid attention to the the
hurricanes this week, but yeah,I mean, three games by shootout
was insane for the week.

SPEAKER_02 (01:02:39):
Shout out to the Charlotte Hornets, by the way.
They beat my Cleveland Cavaliersas well in overtime.
Uh 119 and 111.

SPEAKER_00 (01:02:48):
There you go.
Hornets have been I don't know.

SPEAKER_02 (01:02:53):
We haven't got into the Hornets in too much because
it's we really I'll be honest,like that's what I think.

SPEAKER_00 (01:02:58):
They haven't done anything really sport that I I
follow.
Me too.
And and I want to follow theHornets.
I want to do good.
I mean, they're 8 and 18, sothey're not good at all.
No.
Um but they have Con Kanipple isa is a shooter.
And I want to I want to likethem.

(01:03:18):
I want to follow them.
I I cannot do Lamello.
I cannot.
I'm sorry.
Lamello ball.
Nope.
So one of those things where um,ooh, I think Ed has frozen up on
us here right at the end.
So he's gonna have to hop offfor a second.

(01:03:40):
But um, yeah, guys, I can't doLa Mello Ball.
Um I want to to try to get backin the NBA.
I tried last year.
If they just could get somebetter players and have a better
team, it would be a whole loteasier to follow them.
So um yeah.
You almost made it.
You almost made it to the end.
If we would if we'd have cut offat seven, we would have been

(01:04:02):
good.
We'd have been good.
So uh yeah, I was just saying II can't do Lomelo ball.

SPEAKER_02 (01:04:07):
Um I can't, no, me either.

SPEAKER_00 (01:04:09):
But Con Kanipple, they got a couple of pieces
there if they could build on it.
So we'll see how the Hornets go.
Um I pull for them becausethey're uh they're here locally,
and I started following themback in uh 89 when they started.
But they're just a bad team.

SPEAKER_02 (01:04:25):
My favorite my first my first first NBA jersey.
We talked about this one, youand me.
Larry Johnson.

SPEAKER_00 (01:04:32):
I found mine.
I sent you a picture of where Ifound mine.
It's actually downstairs in abox.
I was gonna bring it up herethis morning.
Maybe I'll have it next Mondaymorning.
We'll see.

SPEAKER_02 (01:04:39):
There you go.
Okay, I still gotta get me a uha Charlotte Hornets head.
I I don't have one.
Um, and so we'll see.
Uh but guys, thank you forjoining us tonight.
It's been it was good talktonight.
Day.
It's still dark outside.

SPEAKER_00 (01:04:53):
Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_02 (01:04:54):
We go with that.
It is way too early in themorning.
Thank you for joining us today, early in the morning.
Uh, breakfast takes.
Um, there's some good talk, youknow.
We'll we'll see.
You know, we'll I don't have alot of hopes for the Carolina
Panthers, gonna be completelyhonest.
You know what I'll say about theNFL, and I'll I'll leave it with

(01:05:15):
this.
I'm glad there's new blood.

SPEAKER_00 (01:05:18):
Yes, absolutely.
It's time for some new new newpeople, new teams to follow, not
the same old, same old in there.
So time for a change.
Absolutely.
Yeah, definitely.
So yeah, make sure you guys comeback every Monday morning, 6
a.m.
for breakfast takes, NorthCarolina, South Carolina sports.
And we're getting into a windowhere where there's gonna be a

(01:05:40):
lot less of those sports uh totalk about until we swing around
to baseball in the spring.
So we're not far from that.

SPEAKER_02 (01:05:47):
We gotta talk about some baseball.
We'll talk about that somewhereas well.
So but joining us also tomorrowtonight at 8 30, okay, 8 30 p.m.
Eastern time, break-even sports, where we're gonna be talking
about some soccer.
Both our teams are good thisweek.
Um, yeah, both uh La Liga and uhthe Premier League.

SPEAKER_00 (01:06:05):
So well, my La Liga team, they that they're the only
ones that did me right.

SPEAKER_02 (01:06:09):
My La Liga team uh postponed their game, so they
didn't did me right or wrong.
So it doesn't really matter atthat point.

SPEAKER_00 (01:06:16):
Bayern loses or not lose, they they they pull a draw
against uh worst team on thetable.
So yep.

SPEAKER_02 (01:06:23):
And so we'll talk about that at the FCF playoffs,
division two and division three.
We'll talk about that tonight umat 830, and then tomorrow at
eight PM Eastern time, the thathigh chronicle sports show.
We will see you guys then.

SPEAKER_01 (01:06:36):
Take care, guys.
