going?
Dude, nama. Absolutelysure and I like your hat to
Max's boy. We're gonna see if wecan get Chris Meyer to hang out

(03:06):
with us, but we'll see what ifhe can come on a little bit
later. So dude, I'm so stokedthat the season has kicked off
now you guys were in anagoWisconsin this past weekend. And
do it look like everybody wasfired up to go racing were you
Oh, absolutely. You know, everybody in this pro to feel

(03:30):
they're so competitive like someof the best drivers in our class
so you got to show up with yourA game we worked so hard over
the offseason just likeeverybody else and you know we
had a really good weekend. RoundOne came away with the second
and then round two came awaywith the win so just super
stoked on the weekend. put in somuch work this year just just

(03:50):
good to come out. You know comeout strong and get
it takes a little bit actuallydo that right like we've talked
a bunch on this show like all ofthis stuff all the legwork that
happens behind the scenes likegetting ready for the season. So
when do you guys actually likestart preparing before the race
does it start like the day afterthe season ends? Or do you guys
want to take a break and thenstart getting things rolling?

(04:14):
Yeah, I mean coming back fromcraning last year we took
probably a two week little breakkind of you know, just catch up
with with everything geteverything cleaned up and then
we get cracking right away.
There's always so much to do andrace and it seems like you never
have enough time no matter howmuch time you have. You seem to
just use every ounce of it. Sowe try to kind of get ahead of
it and you know, get as muchdone as we can as quickly as we

(04:36):
can. I feel like you can neveryou can never stop improving
with the race trucks. So yeah, you know we start right away and
honestly we aren't done inabout a room it was like four or
eight these guys back here atthe herb terrible herbs worse
workshop and they're alwaysimproving stuff right? They're
gonna be more teeth. But youguys like so did you guys change

(04:58):
anything and do anythingdifferent on your truck? Like,
was there any big changes thatyou made to make it so that you
could get to the top step of thebox?
Yeah, I mean, we're alwaysmaking changes. Nothing major,
like we had such a good trucklast year, I won six races last
year. So we didn't want to go inand make a whole bunch of

(05:19):
changes. And, you know, we kindof were the truck to beat last
year. But we did rebuild thefront clip, we, you know, we
tried some different things withgearing converter, stuff like
that. And it seems to haveworked, you know, Brock was
really fast this past weekend.
Definitely going into Crandonwith a lot of confidence, we won
the last two points race. Sofeeling pretty good going into

(05:43):
the Crandon weekend, andhopefully we show up at the
truck, that's, you know, as goodas it was last year, and, and
we'll see we got a few tracklayout changes to Crandon that
they've made we're not runningback into the oh, I looked at
tree turtles. So they're kind ofYeah, exactly. They, they took
that out, they wanted to makesome changes, you know, which is

(06:05):
cool. So now we're kind ofcutting up by the spotter tower,
so it's a shorter track. Sothat's going to mix it up. You
know, we're sitting here tonightthinking about gearing and oh,
I'm actually going there to testtomorrow. So it's, it's going to
change some things up and youknow, mix it up a little bit. So
we might have to make a littlelittle adjustments, but
tomorrow, we're gonna see howshe does. For me, typically, I

(06:26):
haven't messed with it a lot.
This year is kind of the firstyear I've been playing with them
a little more. So I've learned alot, Charlie at ATD has helped
me a lot understanding torqueconverters and kind of the
different options I haveavailable. So this year, we've

(06:48):
been testing them more and more.
And I'm starting to understandkind of what works better where
so this is really the first yearusually I kind of put a I put a
converter in I've ran it foralmost two years. But now I'm
starting. Yeah, just let it rip.
You know, I'm, I like to have atruck that's consistent that I
can learn how to drive. That'snot you know, kind of I'm not

(07:11):
relearning the truck every timeI drive it I you know, I can
just focus on my driving but Ithink I got to the point now
where just was due for somechanges and to try some
different things. And that's itbut
doing it so far, it's a sign ofa good drug, right, you can just
get in and keep running there. Ilike it's funny because like in
the Moto days, we wouldn't havethese badass race bikes all
built but our practice bike wasmore comfortable and sometimes

(07:31):
we could just keep gettingbetter lap times on those things
because you're just so used toit. So I totally understand the
mentality of not having to makea lot of big changes.
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
But you know, you got to stayahead of the pack everybody's
always getting better. You know, you don't want to you don't want
to show up on the back foot so Ijust felt like it was right to
start throws jabs at it and rundown let's see what we

(07:54):
can learn. So like you get outthere that's obviously the first
race you got your jitters yougot like your uncertainties and
anticipation and everything. Youguys have to go out and practice
you have to make a lot ofchanges in practice to get ready
for the race. Are you guyspretty spot on when you got out
there on the track?
Honestly, we were really closewe got out there. The track

(08:16):
changed throughout the weekend alot. When we got there was a
little tackier, and thenSaturday's race was around sorry
Sunday's race was way slickerthan Saturday's race. So just
kind of more than anythingrather than changing the truck
just changed my line startedusing the cushion a lot seemed
to work really well. Obviouslyit was important to get out
front early. I was able to dothat on Sunday. And from there

(08:39):
just tried to stay clean hit mymarks. But honestly we nailed
the gearing coming into therace. I made a small tweak
nothing crazy went the rightdirection and honestly like
everything was just workingreally well
gearing and everything is onpoint like Yeah, and that's a
good thing that you're going tocreate it and to test it. What
tires did you use this pastweekend

(09:02):
I'm pretty much everywhere we gounless it's raining. I'm all the
magazines razor at tire. They'rejust so versatile. Like
everywhere we go. We do justminimal grooving the guy the
guys over at Max's do a killerjob just doing some little
things to it to make it better.
But honestly like that tireworks everywhere. It's like the
slick stuff the blue groove Ican run up in the cushion it's

(09:23):
an 80 but it acts like a mudterrain you know and it's a it's
a killer tire like honestly canask for more. Just man I love I
love that razor 80 We've beenusing it for two years now and I
like it's just been lightningfast every single
year and never like it nevertricks you so to speak like

(09:45):
that's one of my favorite parts.
And so so going throughout theweekend, then you get out there
on are you fast in practice, ordid you kind of have to work
your way up.
So I was P two and P two first.
practice I believe that we wentsecond in qualifying for the
first race, finished second forthe first round one. And then I

(10:06):
started second row outside forfor Sunday's race and was able
to work my way up front. Soyeah, we were kind of there
right off the bat. And that'swhy we didn't throw a lot of
crazy changes at it just becausewe were we were close with pace,
and was able to get it done onSolloway. It went well

(10:27):
on Sunday, because you like itsounds like the track changed
quite a bit. So like, I don'tknow, it's probably like a feels
like a whole different race.
Yeah, Sunday, I, I worked my wayinto second pretty quickly
behind winner Cory wetter, followed him for a few laps and
was able to get on underunderneath them in turn one and

(10:48):
just, you know, nudged him alittle bit out of the way. Kind
of did what I had to do it wasit was more of a one line track.
So I kind of had a bully my waypast a little bit. But once once
by you know, just kind ofrunning the cushion. Like I said
it was it was kind of one lane.
And you know, if you just if youjust kept your lines clean and
didn't make any mistakes, it'sreally hard to get around
somebody. So I knew that once Igot off runners suddenly just

(11:09):
Yeah, exactly. Like that bluegroove. It got so bad on Sunday,
the blue groove was so hard. Andyou just had that that cushion
line just way up higheverywhere. If you if you came
down off that at all, I can justdrive off,
I wasn't able to watch the livebecause we had a bunch of stuff
going on, but I can just see youlike sprint card or on the

(11:29):
quarter.
Yeah, and it's just likepedaling it, you know, you just
got to, that's the thing withthese two wheel drive trucks,
like you have to have such goodthrottle control. And just and
just, you have to have a reallygood feel, actually that how
much wheel set you're getting.
So it got to Ricci quite a bitand UTVs. And that's like,
cheater style for oil dried, right? Like it's a completely

(11:50):
different world. But so somebodylike me, and it's never I've
only driven a pro light. So Ihaven't driven the Pro two. And
then everybody that's in theaudience give us a difference in
like, maybe the the way that youdrive with your feet and your
hands between a two wheel drivevehicle like that, and a four
wheel drive like a UTVYeah, I think four wheel drive,
you know, you're really kind ofpointing and shooting like

(12:12):
you're, you're on the gas, andwherever you're steering, you
know, the cars gonna go thatdirection where a two wheel
drive, I kind of think of itmore like, you're kind of
addicting what what it's goingto do because you're always in a
side. So you really got like itcomes down to really, really
precise throttle control.
Otherwise, you're just slidingand going backwards. So I think

(12:33):
that's what separates the goodguys from the slower guys is
just understanding how muchwheel slip you're getting. And
being able to turn your throttleback to actually go forward. In
UTVs, you can really drive themhard. Therefore, they're going
to pull you can hammer the gas,it's going to pull you out of
the corner and tools drive ifyou do that. Yeah, it's crazy
reckless driving, and liketurning

(12:55):
with your feet and stuff too.
Hey, real quick, I want to sayhappy birthday to him. This is
his number 19 Trophy Truck thathe prepares at the herps
motorsports shop. I just want tosay happy birthday to him real
quick and then we had Rosie shesaid oh she was out there
hanging out with you guys upthere at anago huh
Yep, absolutely. He helps usshe's at Max's does a killer job

(13:18):
everybody in Max's they're soawesome to work with just an
awesome company all around liketheir tires. Everything cannot
ask for anything more. Yeah. Soproud to be an aggrieved
just joined us wanting to send abig shout out to Johnny. Get
well soon, buddy. He ended uphaving I think Kyle drove his
truck in the pro for race me.

(13:40):
Yeah, Kyle jumped in for him.
Johnny had a big crash.
Hopefully he's doing better. Ithink he's on the mend a little
bit. But Kyle jumped in did dida great job. Honestly. First
time. Around like we've had, like, such a savage.
For sure. He's not his first notthe first go around like I can't

(14:02):
believeYeah, lesson learned, right? You
always give it your best nomatter what position you're in.
Even if you're off the track.
You still support everybodyaround you. Johnny definitely
did that. Hey, so were there anysketchy moments during Saturday
or Sunday when you're on coursepractice race whatever.

(14:23):
Yeah, definitely. Were Johnnycrash that turned for it super
fast. And the polls were gettingreal bad. I actually had a few
moments. They're just getting onthe bike. You know, you're 85
miles an hour through the middleof that corner. Jumping on the
bike is not the best feeling inthe world.
to So yeah, that was 85 miles anhour. Just getting that like in

(14:43):
you're having to feel like youhave to correct you must feel
like you're in slow motion byhaving to react so quick.
Yeah, it's it's gnarly and itchanges so fast. Like it would
be good through there one lapand the next slide. There's a
gnarly hole that you had toavoid and You know it just takes
that one time to like catch anedge and put you over and at

(15:04):
that speed it's it's not good sowhat's the next race is it
grantedyep it's granted next weekend
you're gonna have our work cutout for you get in the truck
ready to go because it's a quickturnaround
yeah we're actually testingthere tomorrow we got that ready

(15:28):
to go right behind me but yeah,we're gonna go test you know get
our gearing dialed in so we'rewe show up ready and we're ready
to rip but yeah it's it's it's alot out here the champ season
you know we're back to back twoweekends in between so it's it's
tough on the crew but we got ashop up and granted now so it

(15:48):
makes it super easy and youknow, we're just doing the best
we can to get everything done.
That's so cool man. I lovehearing that. So we only have I
think about five minutes left Iwould definitely want to give
you some time to thank yoursponsors but you think that
there's a possibility you couldshow me the office that you
worked in all weekend like showme the cockpit? I would love to

(16:08):
see that yeah there you go likeit's been a
large setup right now nice. islooking
good so you got her all cleanedup?
Yep, ready ready to testtomorrow?
Even if you haven't changedbecause you definitely have to
change some gearing and you gotto be able to get keep a little

(16:30):
bit more roll speed and stuffwhen you're out there at crane
and because it's completelydifferent track than what you
got an indigoYeah, absolutely the gearing is
way different. We're even bro ina different order and it
mentioned settings always tunein. But we get struck for
Brandon usually and we're goingto show up with what we always
haveto say ever part of the weekend
other than getting getting the Won on Sunday. Did you have some

(16:53):
good times with your family andall your crew and everybody
because you know I tell youwhat, like I still have all of
the memories of us all racingLucas Oil short course together,
but some of the best memories Ihave are sitting in the pits
barbecuingYeah, I know for sure. We always
have a good time I got a bigthrough but man we have we have
an awesome time just cooking.

(17:16):
You know, everybody everybody'sgot to get their jobs and we get
it done and makes it even betterto go out there and win these
races. Yeah, just killer sign upas you got it done.
You got the W for all your crewand everybody that helped out
because the amount of hours thatgo behind all this stuff and you
bring them a W they gotta bepunk.

(17:39):
Yeah, absolutely. So many peoplehelped me out like it's crazy. I
got so many talented people thathelped put this truck together.
It takes an army, you know, tomake a fast race truck. So just
hats off to everybody that helpsme I gotta I gotta thank my
whole crew, my family. My wife, everybody that supports me.
It takes a team rendu teamworkmakes the dream work. Well, you

(18:01):
did you got the dream done thisweekend, you got to win. So
yeah, congratulations, first ofall, and congratulations to your
whole team for being able to putin all that work and get you up
there to the top step of thebox. But now you got to focus on
the next race, right? It doesn'tlast very long. You got to get
going and start to get up to thebox top of the box at Crandon.
Right everybody's always gunningfor that top spot. So we got a

(18:23):
you got to keep putting ourheads down and clearly work in
and it's another weekend, man, Ican't wait to see you guys up.
All right, well kick some asswhen you guys get out the
Crandon, dude. And yeah, we'llsee you that.
All right. Right. Grab me on.
Alright, so we are going to getthe wild man Adrienne Chani on
here. And then Kyle fromEnvision canopies. We'll get him

(18:46):
on as well. And I will talk tothem about all the fun that they
had out there. And in anaco, aswell, so Kyle, what's up, dude,
how are you? Good. How aboutyou? doing awesome, man. So
Kyle, Erin's vary from Visioncannabis. Hey, thanks for being
a part of the dirt life showtoday. Appreciate it.
No problem. Got it. Yeah.
So we're gonna get the wild manon here. We can see if he can

(19:08):
log on. I just accepted it. Andwe'll see if it fits in the
swamp. A lot of log on but doshort course racing is in full
effect. Andit is yeah, we we put a lot into
it this year. We're, you know, trying to things businesses
growing. We're trying to expandour footprint in other areas
besides Southern California anddesert. So let about let it all

(19:34):
the opportunity to try to helpsome people out Yeah, and a
really good crew this year and areally good team and everything
like that and my racing. I'm notdoing as much truck horse racing
as I was hoping just with thetime commitment. It's really
hard with you know, changes inmy life right now with a new
baby and stuff like that, butit's worth it. Put trying to

(19:56):
give back to the people and tryto make this make a nice
footprint in short course racingand try to expand our reach out
to the Midwest. Yeah, it'sslowly.
Well, let me see if I can.
Adrian, I don't know if you'rewatching but see if you can
update your app and get thelatest Instagram app. So update

(20:19):
the apps on your phone, and thenit'll let you join when you when
you hit the request. So Ialready accepted you. But if you
update your app, then you canjoin the feed. Yeah. So let's
talk a little bit about theracing car. So first thing I
want to say is thank you verymuch for there. We got to
interview now what's up? Shani?
How are you? Good. How are you?
Good, man. So are you back inCalifornia? Are you still up

(20:42):
there in Wisconsin?
No, I'm back in Marietta, theWest Coast shop. The the crew is
back in the Midwest shop. Tryingto get ready for crendon did.
It's so cool to see I was justtalking to Kyle about it. Like I
love seeing all the short courseracing coming up. And honestly,

(21:02):
man, it looked like it wasinsane. Cool. This past weekend
and anago you guys had someserious battles.
Yeah, I was really excited to Iwas very nervous about the pro
forma, I said that, you know, after the race, I was very
nervous because it's, it'spretty out of hand. What's
happened to the pro for fieldjust got decimated with the Kyle

(21:26):
and Johnny being out. And therewas two other guys that went
out. I forgotit right, Scotty? And I'm not
sure who else?
Yep. Yeah. Yeah, I've taken somany blows to the head. I can
barely remember my name at thispoint.
What? That that brings light tothe whole situation, though,

(21:48):
right, like the level of racinghas elevated to where people are
just really pushing it. Right.
So how did it feel like the paceof this this race compared to
what it was what you're used toin the years prior?
Yeah, you know, I was I wasthinking about that with this
Antigo track, and which I put alot of effort into both Kyle.

(22:11):
And myself, we sponsored thisrace at Ansco. We wanted to kind
of really push the Antigo trackbecause that's where my My shop
is in the Midwest is there. Sowe really want to have a good
footprint. Between myself havinga horrendous crash the last
year, which almost killed me,and then Johnny having
horrendous crash this year. Imean, I've been at it. 20 years,

(22:33):
he's been at it. 30 years, we'vegot over 50 years, yet that same
corner, like just wrecked us.
And so I was I was wondering thesame thing about that, you know,
what, what is going on with it?
You know, isn't this somethingabout these profile vehicles
that they just like super tippyor something, but they the level

(22:56):
of racing has definitelyincreased, the grip is
increased. That track issomewhat treacherous and
technical. I mean, just on thatbig sweeper, I don't know. It's
just, it's really hard not to gointo it's fully charged at like
90 miles an hour or whateverwe're going in there at. And
then just any little thing canreally just upset the truck,

(23:18):
because we do put a lot of bodyroll into the truck to get it to
grip.
Yeah. Well, we were just talkingto Mickey Thomas, a couple of
minutes ago. And he said thesame thing. Even in the Pro two.
He was gone. Well, probably not90, but 85 or so in that corner.
And he was scared too, becauseit kept coming up on the bike.
Yeah, it's very sketchy. Andthat turn it's a clay. But it's

(23:40):
only about six inches deep. Wetried to get about 20 truckloads
of clay to come in to cover thatarea. But the there's only one
guy in that area who actuallyhas that red clay because the
town won't let any other clay inthere. And for some reason, he
wouldn't let the clay go so thatwe ended up having to just use

(24:00):
the clay that was on thesurface, which is only about six
inches deep. And it just itjust, but even even if we would
have put a ton down I don'tknow. It's just it's
treacherous. It's tough. It'slike because it's not a track
that's there all year round thatgets worked on and refined. It's
just the basically it's like a,we bring everything in, set it

(24:20):
up. And then you got to tear itall down. So it's a tall order
to get it ready for the type ofstress that we put on it with,
you know, 1000 horsepower, allfour tires turning like that.
Yeah, so we had a comment fromJohn Lewis at Desert squadra.
And actually, the show ispresented by Maximus today. So

(24:43):
you guys have to run some DLTMax's tires. Does that make any
effect on it? But because youguys still have a lot of leeway,
right? Like you guys can stillgroup the tires, you guys can
still adjust the amount of airpressure. There's still a lot of
things that you guys can do tomanage all that stuff.
Yeah, we're running a 12.5 inchmexus Tie As they're wide and
they they've got really goodgrip there. And we grew them for

(25:04):
that what we could do to make itless like as was to, you know,
hook or catch a rod is to grantthe edges off, but you give up
then you give a piece. So whatwe what you normally end up
doing is actually sharpening theedges of the of the tire to get
it to grip even more, but it's adouble edged sword, it's great

(25:26):
when it's working. And then whenit's, if it grips too much, it
does its job too well, then, youknow, in a treacherous
situation, then you're going tobe fighting it a little bit. So
it's really, you got to makethat judgment call. And, you
know, I was talking to ChrisShaw about it, he's the guy who,
who helps to, you know, grooveand set everything up. And, I

(25:48):
mean, he did a really good job.
We had great traction we gotthrough the weekend without any,
you know, being sent over thewall. So everything worked out
great. But it's, it's tough.
It's really it's a it's ascience to figure out, like
what's the right groove? And toput into these times, yeah,
exactly. Well, and there's likeyou said, it's the combination,

(26:09):
right, like, let's just say youdo sharpen the edges. Well, it
can be really good on the freeview, beginning portion of the
race, but then when it comes inand it really starts biking, you
have to negotiate a lotdifferent when the traction
comes up. So it like you saidit's a give and take, like
there's so many different thingsyou got to think about, it's
almost like predicting thefuture, right? Like you can't
see all the stuff that's goingto happen. But you just gotta

(26:31):
guess and see what happens.
Kyle, when you were looking atall the races and watching
everything and supporting allthe drivers and obviously the
series what kind of stuff didyou notice about everybody their
anticipation, their anxiety andeverything at the first round?
Like everyone was really goingat it like it and that's
probably explained, I didn'tactually explain some of the you
know, with a trap track thattough man changing directions in

(26:54):
it and, you know, having toreset up a whole track there
every time. So the tracks andact different than it may have
the, you know, the year before.
But I think everyone was sofueled up to go out there that
weekend. Like they just went outlike that was some of the best
racing have ever seen. Like eventhe Pro for field, like being
down on car count. I mean, itwas still insanely entertaining

(27:14):
with with Adrian and CJbattling. I mean, it was going
back and forth. And and they'retaking, you know, different
lines. And that's what's soamazing about the pro four it's
not so single line. It's it'slike you know, every quarter you
have, you know, a few to choosefrom and it's in you could set
up a path is, you know, a couplequarters ahead and just so
entertaining. It's like watchinga Supercross race. Well, it's

(27:35):
like a ballet, it does anything.
There's so much more strategy toit with four wheels turning
rather than two. And like it waslike super entertaining. Like I
was super pumped to. I wish itcould have been there. Yeah.
I wanted to actually the race tocontinue we're having such a

(27:56):
good time. Oh, that center isreally, really good. Because
that's what yes, we're there towin. That's the thing. But if
you get into a good battle, that's just as good in my book
anyway, it to be able to go backand forth. That's kind of like
the whole idea of racing is justthat battle. And if we can keep
it clean and not, you know, nothurt ourselves.

(28:19):
So cool. You and CJ were soclean to the whole thing you
guys didn't touch it all youguys were giving you guys a
whole whole new lines givingeach other the space but it was
still an insane battle just asentertaining as if you guys are
going banging off each other'sdoor doc.
I love that's like one of myfavorite things to watch because
you can see that they're likethree quarters ahead in their
brain like knowing where they'regonna go and knowing where the

(28:40):
other guy is gonna go. It's likemagic. Yeah, yeah.
It's like almost, it's almostlike working together a little
bit.
But we had a we had a questioncome in from everything car
related, says, Adrian, you couldprobably answer this the best is
what kind of suspension are yourunning? That is a pretty big
factory controlling body roll,as well as sway bars, anti roll

(29:01):
bars. You could also trystiffening the suspension a
little bit also we're gonnaadvise now a little bit to to
control it. Also. Hi, Kyle.
Chani and Dylan Minear.
Hey, what's up, Dylan? Yeah, sowe've been running King shocks
for a long time. And the dialingof the shocks. We were actually

(29:24):
there the week prior and hadbeen had been dialing those
shocks in at the track so thatthey were working really well.
But that on that on that track, you have every condition, you've
got mud, you've got dry, slick, you've got clay, you've got
dirt, you've got holes, you'vegot peaky jumps. So all these
things you have to take intoaccount when trying to set up

(29:47):
for how you going to run thetrack that on a small track like
that, because those pro foursthey're actually made to go on
bigger tracks than that one.
That was fun, tight racing. Itended up being good racing, they
were made to go on the on thosebigger tracks, but we ended up
making it so that it has side toside body roll, you kind of go
softer on the sway bar to get itto move side to side to be able

(30:11):
to make the turns otherwise, andalso get some grip. Because as
soon as you make the turn, thenyou got to start trying to put
the traction down. And if youmake it so that your shocks are
very stiff, or the sway bar isvery stiff, you're basically
just gonna spin or,or like or push I mean, Adrian,
you don't have so much testtime. And the thing is like it's

(30:32):
like setup is so key, you got tofind that fine line and and you
don't have the right people findit. Well, I
said before, like, you know, 20and 30 years of experience, it
really helps. And I like yourexplanation too because I can
see like when you're talkingabout Adrian, I can tend to see
it in my head when the vehicleis doing its, you know, rotating

(30:53):
or oscillating. It's it's prettycool to see that you guys have
it set up like like I said, likea ballet
Yep. We've got really good guysthat are working on it too. So
this this year, started workingwith this guy Mike cradling and
Rena voters who is a longtimeresident of Crandon case.

(31:15):
Gunderson that's actually hishometown track, right, the
events ago. So we were all outat that track getting ready for
this this season. And, andtrying to get used to that track
and and make it the best thatcan be I'd like to actually see
and over under on that on thatcause because it's really, it's
really set up nicely. We got tobring in some sea containers and

(31:37):
do an over under like in thestadium that would be I think
that'd be super sweet.
That would be super cool. Kindof like they have it Wheatland.
Yes, exactly. Wedidn't want to jump over he
doesn't want the option to driveover right? Yeah, he wants full
command.
Yes, you just want it oh man.
Like I like an SSD basicallyput the containers there and

(31:58):
then there's just take there'sno roads over.
You just you don't if you'rescared of the double Kayo you
just you can't race you gotta gohome.
You'll that's cool. Sandy USSTwas that year the Adrian, race
and then roiled but uh, butyeah, I mean, it was it was

(32:20):
yeah, no other option. I mean,it's like it's send it or talk
on the truck.
That's not crazy. That would becool, though. Over Under would
be pretty set. Yeah,I would actually, I would
definitely be in soon over underthe thing is because you have
the old different classesrunning you would have to put
you know, a way that you coulddrive over it you wouldn't have

(32:43):
to sky the otherwise the smallerUTVs probably wouldn't be able
to me out.
So are some of the art some ofthe stock truck classes and
stuff like that? Was there anysketchy moments that you had
Adrian?
I'm surprised now while you knowwhat they put a jump in there.

(33:04):
It was a basic every time youtook it, you almost you know
when end of rent frontwards andthere's really wasn't that much
you can do about it other thanhit it. You're trying to hit it
in different spots but that wasin the Sunday race in the pro
for race. And that was sketchybecause nobody was lifting for
it but it was really upsettingthe truck a lot and it wasn't in

(33:27):
the on Saturday so that wasprobably a sketchy this is just
the severe nose overs and justhoping that it never goes just
that bit too much that thenhooks and flips you have
got to give it some pay as muchpanic grab as possible.
The wheels going so that whenyou when the when the front
tires do hit they kind of pullyou Oh, yeah, definitely. Well,

(33:47):
we allKyle, we all know that Adrian's
about the science because heknows about like jumping out of
or trying to ski behind anairplane. Yeah, the clouds and
stuff. Many factors just Yeah.
Guy when you got to watch someof the racing, how rad was it to
be on the sidelines support andeverybody and checking
everything out? Because usuallyyou're out there?

(34:09):
Yeah, no, it was awesome. It wasit was cool. Like I said like we
went visit canopy we put a lotinto this into this year. So
it's really cool to see youknow, like it on the track and
the drivers out there andbattling up front. I mean, I
mean, you know with Adrian CoryJacob resolves all him did so
well out there. So it's justjust really, really cool and,

(34:33):
and so happy to do it. Luckily, you know, in a spot where, you
know, visually cannabis growingwhere I can do it, so I want to
just keep it going and reallybummed I couldn't be out there.
But we'll get crammed in so getaway just that being so close to
the 500 it was it was it wastough. But you know Crandon is

(34:54):
awesome, and I'm super stoked togo out there. So be able to go
out there and support And yeah, enjoy firsthand because online
is cool and all. But if you gotto be there, yeah,
you can be firsthand. Right? Andso what one of the things that
you said kind of like got mybrain turning. So Adrian, you've

(35:15):
been around the sport for a longtime. And Kyle, you've been
paying a lot of attentionbecause you're supporting these
series. Adrian, why don't youanswer this question? Will that
Cago afterwards? Did you guysget to watch any of the youth
classes or the younger classes, because I did in the gas series
over here on the west coast thisweekend. And there's a lot of
growth in those classes. Andman, I tell you what, there's a

(35:35):
lot of girls racing, there's alot of really young kids racing,
they're going through the ATVranks, like going up the ladder.
It was so cool to see I don'tknow if you guys noticed any of
that a champ.
Yeah, well, the UTV is reallywhat's going to make the sport
grow huge. The fact that you canbuy a UTV from like race driven
or so one of the other providersand and just go out there with

(36:03):
with parts of the shelf and ifyou wouldn't you wreck you can
buy parts off the shelf. That isthat's really that's the
difference maker right there. Sothat's why all those all those
use, those youth divisions aredoing so well. So yeah, I
watched I watch some of them.
And it's very exciting. Andit's, you know, that's why I
jumped into UTV myself. I mean,it's just like, it's so much
fun. I mean, I personally lovethe artist one like when I'm not

(36:26):
on the track, I'm running aroundin RS one, love the single seat
one add on just whatever pieceof land I can find. So yeah,
that's that's the future and I'mso glad that that there's more
of those. Those either thosedivisions hopefully popping up
or consolidating so that we havenice huge fields where everybody

(36:47):
gets to run. And if they dosomething to the UTV, they can
just go and buy a car and be onthe track the next round.
Yeah, or switch with their buddyor a guy go by find one at the
neck and like next guy's pantsor whatever. And Kyle that's so
cool to hear man that like thatAdrian, someone who's such a
veteran and such a great driverin the sport is paying attention

(37:08):
to that, that gives you a lot ofunderstanding and ambition as a
supporting mechanism for theseraces as a racer as well but
like as a supporting mechanismto be able to see the kids and
be like, You know what thatlittle girl watch in two years.
She's going to be sponsored byvision canopy.
Well, Jana, and say, like, likeUTV is really saved, I think,
you know, maybe my opinion, Ithink they saved the sport in a

(37:29):
way because it's leavinglongevity to the sport. It's
very hard for everyone to goforward a pro for a pro to you
know, especially being abeginner you know, it's a big,
big big commitment so you knowto go drop a half million
dollars gonna do something youdon't know if you're gonna be
good at is tough but now withthese ut these around, you can
go drop, you know, a very, very, you know, reasonable amount and,

(37:53):
and there's so many classeswhere you can actually go, you
can start a sportsman class andyou can work your way up. You
know, and that's like, like, you'd be like, you'd be like me
like I don't feel supercomfortable with the short
course racing you learnsomething new to it. Adrian kind
of drag me into a little bit butI'm more of a desert guy. But I
am excited because you know, there's so many different levels
you can race on or I can go feelcomfortable. And you know, I

(38:15):
don't have to go side to sidehis age. Does it thing as Adrian
give you tips, then you go outand be like, dude, like, and
Adrian walks up to you. He'slike, Dude, why are you going so
slow?
His first race he came to it wasCrandon, it was September and
Crandon. It was like 40 Guys, itwas in the Pro Mod class, and

(38:36):
they just watered the hell outof the track. And he went
through all of his tears everyone of us. And on the first lap,
I was actually chuckling tomyself. I was like, I can't
believe that's the first racewhere there was like, it was
like, brown out basically thewhole job. And I was just sick.
I was like, I can't believethat. The poor guys in this

(38:57):
Yeah, because it was basicallyyou drive in that race you were
driving when you hit somebody.
Okay, then you turn okay, youjust That's how that one
file by fire. Yeah, the exactsame thing the next day and it
was like what the hell like in aqualifying It was perfect. Like
the track was perfect. And Ilike it. No one's beside me. I

(39:18):
was like, Okay, I'm comfortablein this. You know, I'm learning
to track during the car like Iwas comfortable but then lining
up and I qualified. The crappything is I qualified good. I
mean, the good thing and the badthing, but then I was writing
the heat of all the good guys.
I'm like, Oh crap, so we let goand it's like, I would do 20
Tear offs or one lap and thenTodd's on the radio telling me
what you do and like I can't seea thing I can't see my hands.

(39:40):
And it was it was just gave me awhole new perspective on short
course racing. You know how hardit is like desert racing with
the dust you know, is is tough, but I don't know if it's just
because I've been doing itlonger or whatnot. But I feel
comfortable in the dust likemud. Absolutely not. I need so
much more practice. And like butlike with you know the ATVs and
so many of them out there I cango battle with people my own

(40:03):
skill level essentially andstill have just as much fun as
you know people like Adrian thatare battling at you know more
more professional level so youknow and then with with factory
standard behind it to you youknow you got players you got Ken
Ham you got Yamaha, you know, you got all these factories
stepping up and you Honda now,you know as a great program with

(40:26):
race, race, Cohn de Mason, Jr.
So you got all these factoriesseven behind it. And that's, you
know, I mean, look at the moldertaken after, like a Supercross
mold. I mean, it's just just sogonna be so beneficial to the
sport, and it's gonna make surelike, we have drivers in 10
years, you know, and like, Igrew up playing hockey, and I, I

(40:48):
was really good at hockey and,and traveled all over playing
Hockey. Hockey now is dead, unfortunately, because hockey
did such a bad job of farmingpeople to play hockey because
it's in areas where people couldafford it. There was no hockey
in areas that people couldn'tafford it. There was tons of
hockey. So unless you havespecific weather, you can't play

(41:10):
hockey, and essentially, that'swhat, that's what the sport of
hockey is dealing with rightnow. So in 10 years, they're
having a really, really hardtime getting good, you know, to
feel talent. And like, you know, that's my take on it because I
played hockey and that's theindustry I really liked and had
a good time doing that is dying, unfortunately, but also by
racing isn't really short courseracing and off road racing is

(41:33):
doing the opposite. Exactly.
ATVs a real quick, Jason montaas I saw him earlier today here
at the shop. He said, Kyle, remember when we raise trophy
lights? Yeah, yep. Just floor ituntil you hit something. And
then Mr. Flores says hey guys, just joined by we're gonna get
Jimmy Henderson on here to talka little bit about his race.
Adrian Thoreau. Shout out tosome of the people that helped

(41:54):
you and just tell us about thefunnest part of your weekend.
Like I said, my What I'm reallyhappy with my crew and we got a
really good crew you will seethat so we're going to come
together very nicely with caseGunderson Mike grayling and Rina
voters heading up the trio Max'stires been with him for well

(42:18):
over a decade. Chris Shaw andRosie came to to watch the races
and she was like she was cryingshe was so excited about the
race is talking about passion.
And King been with him for solong. Brett makes such a good
such a good shock and we doeverything with that we spin

(42:38):
upside down flip around doeverything and it just lands us
safely impact race products.
That of course right there Kyleaddition canopy stepping up and
sponsoring just about everybodywas just amazing.
Yeah, it is super cool to seethe support, man. All right,
Kyle, I know that we couldn'tget a couple of your other
drivers on yet some really coolpeople that you were out there.

(42:59):
Well, they you supported thisweekend that we're out on the
track to so throw a shout outand we're gonna get Jimmy on.
Yeah, well, first of all, likeAdrian Pro for tried to have,
you know, a good heavy hitter ineach class. Cory winter in the
pro to Jacob was awesome.
ProLight. And hopefully see meout there in the Pro Turbo
Adrian out there in the ProTurbo as well. But, but yeah,

(43:19):
want to do a shout out to themand appreciate all the work they
do. And it's been awesome. Ican't wait for the next one
nickel. I stillwant. Yeah, I still want to know
what Adrian's favorite part ofthe weekend was, but I will give
you guys some advice. Let's justsay you're a kid watching the
show, or you're listening to iton a podcast. When you see
somebody like Kyle talking aboutvision canopy, and he's thanking
all these professional drivers.

(43:41):
And he was looking at you, andhe was seeing you raise your
UTVs. Make sure you're puttingon a good show. Be professional.
Make sure you're trying to getup there on the podium and
you're talking to him. And whenyou see him at the track, you go
say hi.
So my my favorite part of therace or the weekend, I should
say other than my own racing, because you're in it was

(44:02):
watching the Pro to race onSaturday. That was pretty crazy.
Fun to watch those guys go atit. It's a pretty stacked field.
I really enjoyed that. So Ienjoyed watching the talent
those guys put on the good show.
Yeah. Yeah, man. All right.
Well, thankyou boys very much. I really
appreciate it. Yeah, we'll seeyou guys soon.

(44:24):
Yeah, absolutely.
Boys. Do you guys. Alright, solet's see if Jimmy Henderson can
come on. I'm going to try toinvite him and see if he's, if
he's on here. So Jimmy, if youare on here, jump on. It's so
cool to see that. That there'sso many people supporting

(44:47):
everybody. I really liked thatthose guys. were stoked on the
youth classes. Like it's just socool for me to be able to see
that like these guys have beenin the game for a long time.
Jimmy Henderson what's up? Yeah,Hey, can you hear me? Yeah?
Yeah, yeah. Okay, I can hear youbetter. Now that since you're a

(45:08):
little closer to the phone, amen. So it was pretty crazy to
get back to racing this weekend.
anago, Wisconsin provided a lotof entertainment. Some of the
stuff I didn't see begin to getto talk to all these guys. Man,
it sounded like it was gnarly.
Yeah, anago it's a tough track,you know, and they don't do a
lot of grading during theweekend. So it gets routed out

(45:30):
pretty bad. And a couple of usgot bit pretty bad on it. You
know, pro fours are slinging itpretty bad. So we catch ruts
pretty good. And you know, it'sone of those things, but didn't
go the way we want it. You know,CJ was patient did his thing
that he just he had just outthere chillin driving and just

(45:52):
let us do our stupid stuff.
Well give us a little bit of arundown. So tell us the classy
race and then also how much Iwant to know like the work that
was behind the scenes that gotyou to be able to get to anago
because there's so much thathappens.
So many late nights so many latenights so yeah, so I run pro

(46:14):
four and champ off road. Racingthis guy right here this weekend
and nitro crawl said Mid Americaso about that. Yeah, I just I
just did a track walk. sayreally? All the track. I've
never seen anything like it. Itis wild.
You want to look like there'sbeen a couple of big hits to

(46:35):
man this this tracks gonnachange all fresh. I mean, that's
just my opinion. I've never seenanything like it.
You know, when you got out therethere anything that made you
pucker like it was too big.
You're like, oh, just go oversome stuff. Like, yeah, we're
gonna have to pin this one. Imean, at least Yeah, one of the
heels like we were on a quad. Sowe were running up it on a quad

(46:57):
and I was like, I'm just gonnaslow down a little bit like
going up the hill. You know, andI was like, looking at a looking
at another part of the tracknext to it and I slowed down a
little bit and it was like, almost couldn't get it back
going. You know what I mean?
So yeah, crispy, because you'relike, Oh, crap, I better pin it.
Yeah, you run straight themdown. The turns are bait. Some
of the turns are negativebanking. So you got off camera

(47:20):
you got real really steeptambor. I don't know if this is
the track Bull Run, but I'mpretty excited. Like stripe will
run and champ off road. But asfar as nitro cross this weekend,
it's gonna becrazy. Genre desert squadron
said, Yeah, Travis and the boysdid a great job building that at
Mid America. going to be awesometo watch. Yeah, we can't wait to
watch it either. But hey, sowe're talking about the champ

(47:41):
off road series. We're doing therecap right now. It takes a lot
of effort to be able to get anycar UTV all the way up to a pro
four on the track, right. Ittakes tons and tons of effort to
be able to get there. Do youguys have like a set plan that
you execute on from previousraces to be able to make the
truck better for the upcomingseason? And then how does it
translate into? I don't knowwhen you first put the car on

(48:05):
the track? Are you close? Or doyou have to make a bunch of
changes?
Yeah, I mean, like kind of goingthrough what you're asking to
begin with. You know, the dayCrandon is we're pulling the
motor out. Like we get back tothe shop, we washed the truck,
we're pulling the motor out theoffseason starts that day. You
know, like Monday when theparade and all the party ins

(48:28):
done. In Monday morning, you'reback at the truck. We have no
full time employees. So it's me.
Cody Lewandowski. It wasstraightened by machine. He
keeps the truck at his shop. Heworks on it all he can. Pat Haas
comes over on Friday, Saturdaysworks. I have a full time job in
Georgia. So I'm flying back andforth every weekend and just

(48:51):
working on the truck. So we're alittle bit behind the eight ball
compared to some of the otherteams. But you know, we managed
to get it done. You know we wedo a really good job. It is
literally non stop work theentire offseason.
It's pretty wild, right. You'realready getting some, some
offers right here. As an arrowsaid, Riverside airport. My any

(49:15):
aviation? I have a hangar oftrying to modify plan. That's
perfect for you. People tryingto support your off road racing.
Yeah, I mean, I mean, we needit, you know, Max has stepped up
this year. You know, we had somethings kind of fall through at
the end of last season. And thenwe got swit Mac system, we were

(49:36):
finally able to pull that off.
And by Adrian was saying ChrisShaw, Rosie, Chris Jenkins all
those guys are amazing, and thatthe program they have the
professionalism of theirsponsorship is second to none.
You know, and you've seen himwith Johnny and CJ for years and
there's a reason why you staywith right. And I'm just so
pumped. You know, I am so opampto have them on the team. The

(50:00):
product is amazing. Like we wentout to Indigo. And we were
actually thinking about runningthe tires that we ran during the
offseason, which had 30 or 40laps on them. We're considering
running them on Sunday trace, inthat we need to use a new set of
tires.
Well, that's a mix gym like theywill they probably did look

(50:21):
brand new, but they got a littlebit of the edge worn off on
them. So you could use them indifferent conditions, right. I
don't know how to say his name, but shoots man 70 forces. Yeah,
they're currently working ongetting the UTV ready for
Crandon as well. Yeah, so itkind of does just start but this
weekend, it's going to be kindof cool for you to get a little
bit more driving time. seat timealways helps.

(50:42):
Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be great.
You know, driving some a littlebit different. more seat time. I
didn't have that or I'll be alittle sick, right. And then
I'll say that a great but um,you know, just Sonic is CTV,
anything. Okay.
Yeah, do you gotta be take youremergency view. So you can get
out there and do your best.
Sorry, gotta hityour emergency to make sure you

(51:03):
can get out there and do yourbest, right?
Yeah, yeah, we're, you know, theprobe for race. We didn't have
the turnout, we thought we onlyhad about six trucks. So wasn't
quite what we expect.
And so what give us a little bitof a rundown of the of the race,

(51:24):
because we did. But I heard fromAdrian, and from Mickey, that
there was one corner that wasreally treacherous. But there
was a lot of different I don'tknow, as the driver, maybe
unknown is the right word, because he didn't know how
predictable or unpredictable thetrack was going to be. Something
catches you off guard.

(51:44):
Yeah, I'm the big sweeper. I'vebeen running the low line. So
we're only a couple laps in. Istayed on the low line quite a
bit, because proteins go uphigh. And they weren't great in
the turn at all. So the proteinis not the High Line. And I was
actually behind CJ. And I waslike, cold Labor's doing it. You

(52:05):
know? Cole pulled it off. And Iwas like, I'm just gonna go up
here and trying that idea. Ishould have stayed down there
with CJ. Yes.
Yes, they end up preferred line.
And you don't have to sit there, you're more than welcome to get
up and go like grab some wateror whatever you want to do. I'll
talk about some of the commentsand stuff that are coming in if
you do want to go get somewater. Yeah, go for it. So

(52:26):
Smith, Smith racing off roadsaid can't wait to see what the
rest of the year has. Yeah, TeamMaximus, dude, let's go max to
support and a lot of the greatdrivers. Let's see here, Scotty
glass. Somebody gave him answerwater. Yeah, he's gotta go solve
some water. But yeah, you cankind of see the trend here. And

(52:47):
what most of the people aresaying is that the track was
gnarly. And I don't know if youguys are like you're kind of
hearing the same thing I am. Ithink as the season goes on,
that more people will be able tochange up their lines and
understand how their vehiclesare acting and kind of actually
like, I don't know, get betterlines and start making the track

(53:08):
happen a lot better. So. Oh,Adrian, are you still there?
Yeah.
Let me back on.
No, it's that. I don't know ifthe if the Instagram cut out,
but it sounds like it's stillon. Yeah, it was I don't know if
it was paused or anything. Ifyou just click on it, and then
you can hit the X at the topright. Okay. But yeah, man, it

(53:32):
was cool to see all those guystalking about that, because you
can kind of predict what's goingto happen in throughout the
season, because everybody had somuch anticipation going through
the first race of the year.
Maybe they were getting a littletoo anxious. Who knows. So what
what was the vibe of the race?
Because we were talking to toChani, and he was saying, you

(53:54):
know, like, they were battlingpretty hard. And it was almost
like a ballet in the pro forclass. Did you get to spend a
lot of time on track?
No, no, we actually didn't. Dayone. One of the guys broken a
frame off the backside of atable top we all collected into
him. took three of us out. So Iwas first lab. And then day two,

(54:18):
you know we made some reallygood. The track was really nice.
So day two, we did get to dosome running. Me and Carl Cheney
ran side by side for a littlebit. That was a lot of fun. But
they had like little fingers onthe inside. You know, so you
could run the outside and carrysome speed. You'd have to go
over the fingers on the inside.
So the guys did a great job likemaking the track and designing

(54:39):
the track. That was pretty cool.
But the track still made it tobe maintained throughout the
day.
Oh yeah, hobbies, usually Yeah.
You run a special tire comboI just ran the Maximus at if you
do any special moving oranything new Are you special

(55:01):
groovy anything?
Yeah, yeah, we had some grievingwork, you know? This was our
second time grieving a set ofMax's tires. So we were still
kind of playing with ourgrieving the tire and what we're
looking for. But really we did.
We did some for bike groups anda steer group and the product
and truck was really good asfast. You know, we didn't have a

(55:23):
lot we didn't have a transponderfor qualifying millas working so
we didn't get a qualified intime. But according to the
good. Yeah. Hey, when stuff likethat happens. So how did that
big rock get beside the driver'sseat? What does that mean?

(55:43):
Oh, yeah. So the, when weflipped, I actually got a very
good bruise right here. Nothinglike Johnny's got but I got
bruised up pretty good. A rockhit the rock scurrying during
the flip, and actually blew therock strained out and it pinned
up against my chest. How big wasit was those big? It's on my

(56:10):
Instagram laying next to therock screen. But I mean, it's
football. sighs it was really?
Yeah, that'scrazy. Was it just sitting in
the corner?
I guess it was just in thecorner. I don't think it really
happened. Because I felt theimpact to my face. Like my
helmet, my chest. When I flipsaw they were on the top of the

(56:31):
car, or top of the truck likeflipped over it actually like
blew it through there. So Ithink it was like actually in
the cushion. And then when Ilanded in the cushion, it pushed
it up in my face.
Really? I can't find it on yourInstagram. I was gonna see if we
could show people but dude, that's crazy yet. I was thinking
about that earlier how gnarlyrocks are in short course. I was
going to ask you guys how crazyit is. Oh, hey, real quick,

(56:54):
though. I'm gonna stop and justsay what's up to Kyle the Duke.
He just joined Kyle, we want towish you the best but we saw all
the support that you guys hadfor at champ off road and
throughout the whole off roadcommunity to stay strong as you
can dude, we're all cheering foryou, buddy. So yeah. But yeah,
so going through all that band.
It's giving me chills justthinking about Kyle, we want the

(57:15):
best for you did. So goingthrough like the all of that
gnarly route stuff. Does thatmean that you have to plan? Who
was it Mickey was saying that itwas a little bit? I don't know
what you want to call it. Likeit was the track was way
different on Saturday than theones on Sunday. So it was in a
different setup, like acompletely different story on
the whole race days.

(57:37):
No, not really, for us. I mean, the track was a little bit blue
grooved in the dark was prettygood both days, but there was a
lot of a lot of rock in it. Youknow, same thing, like when I
was behind Kyle, I would run Ifelt like I could stay up with
the bank. And there wasn't verymany of us. So I would run the
unbuffered line just to stay outof the roost cuz like it was

(58:01):
putting spots in my in my visor.
That was running.
Yeah, I mean, pretty quick.
Sometimes. You just have to dothat. Right? Like you just have
to take opposite lines. I mean, like I do that a motocross event
last night we're gonna passanybody to follow. Yeah. So the
though the weekend was, I guess, overall learning experience for
you what kind of stuff? I alwayslike to qualify this for the

(58:23):
kids too, right? Like don't takea bad weekend and let it get you
down. Do something like what doyou do on a weekend like this?
You guys didn't necessarily havea bad weekend but you guys learn
from it. You turn it around andyou get to go on to the next
race. What's your process whenyou have a weekend like this?
Yeah, I mean mainly you know, wedissect what we did, like the

(58:43):
issues we had. You know, wethink about the transponder.
Okay, what did we have? Why didwe have issues with the
transponder? How do we make surethat doesn't happen again, setup
was really good. There's somethings we need to do on the big
jobs to get the nose down alittle bit because we're
flooding the nose. So like we gothrough those stouts and this is

(59:05):
before we ever left the trackwe're going through that and
we're right now it's down onwhat changes we need to make the
weekend you know another nest iswashing the truck now checking
to make sure we don't have anycracks or anything in the
chassis. This this time we hadto redo a good bit of the rear
clip. So Cody's probably in theshop right now working on that

(59:31):
know and kind of, we know likecrane and we know the track we
have a good setup. We have adifferent set of rear shocks
we're gonna put on it fortraining. And I can't wait to go
into agreement. They've Yeah, right Rob groom in the track.
It's a purpose built tonight.
Preferably, you know crammed inswogger. Yeah, it's
gonna be bosses. It's going tobe so awesome to see you guys.

(59:55):
One thing I do want to saythough, just go back on what we
were talking about isaccountability, right? Like you
take the debrief very seriouslywhen you guys get done with the
race, because it's not alwaysthe truck, there's a lot of
times to drive, but you haveyour own team, you drive the
truck, you have your crew, youwant to make sure that
everything gets back to you.
Right? Like, tell me the truth, what happened on the track? I'll

(01:00:17):
tell you what I did saw thedriver's seat, you tell me what
happened in the pits. And thenyou can take all that
information, you can combine it,and you can get better when
you're moving into the crane andrace that you're so excited
about. Yeah, I mean, you know, I can blame it on the
track all day long. But as faras the driver, I put myself in
that situation. Me and myspotter talked about it, me and

(01:00:38):
the crew chief salute StuGs, asmy spotter would be on red line.
You know, we sat down, we talkedabout it, I made a choice to go
outside to see if I could get arun on CJ. And I put myself in a
bad situation, I shouldn't havedone it. That's one thing, you
know, race on weekend, right, you know, acted like an idiot
out there. So I could have beenpatient would have

(01:01:03):
thought that Yeah. But that's,that's one of those things,
though, as a racer, you take theopportunity when you can, right?
Like, that's just how it goes.
So I don't fault anybody fordoing that any racer for doing
that. Because you want to takeadvantage of the situation like
that's the way that racersshould think, right? But I do
love the fact that you areaccountable, because it makes
you have a better time to learnand grow as a racer. And I'd

(01:01:25):
like to talk about this stuff.
Because so many young peoplethat watch and listen to the
show, it's very valuableinformation that you provide,
when you can be a young racerand learn from drivers like you,
Jimmy.
Yeah, I mean, in patience is ahard thing to, to learn. I mean,
even in my age, it's stilldifficult to do it. And it's

(01:01:46):
hard to think about it. That'swhy it's so important for your
spotter, to be talking to youabout what that middle line
looks like. Or if you take it,you know, because you may, like,
as a driver, you're like I havea run on the guy need to take
this spot. But it may not be thebest thing quarter. Yeah, so why

(01:02:08):
don't wait till a quarter withwith less risk, right. Because I
had, I had a few spots where Ifelt like I was quick. And I was
running different lines, likeeverybody was running one line
where you go off the track offthe big track into the infield.
And I really could have waitedtill then, and ran the inside

(01:02:33):
line and just took that lineaway or had an opportunity to
it's lower speed. You know, youmight bump them back a little
bit, but it's an easy pass, thenthat was the next quarter coming
up after we went down thestraightaway. So it sounds
sounds like pretty much youlearned like you learn to
understand that youneed to exercise a little bit
more patience. And maybe it wasthe first round maybe it was
just the anticipation and theexcitement level of it or

(01:02:55):
whatever. But that's really,really cool, man, I can't stress
it enough to all the youngpeople that are listening, how
much it's important to be ableto understand how you can do
better as a person and as adriver. So we're gonna get that
Gerald and Dylan Parsons on injust a second here on van
Everett, what's up you give us alittle bit of our thank your
sponsors and your crew andeverybody and then we'll get

(01:03:18):
Dylan Matt on. Yeah, yeah, Iwant to thank United Reynolds.
You know, couldn't do it withoutthose guys Max's tires. Super
pumped about what this year isgoing to bring with them. VP
fuels beyond red line thirdLawrence product straight line
machine. Victory signs. So allyou guys every dive is supports

(01:03:40):
me it makes it makes it happen.
Yeah, doit. Yeah, team, right. We're
telling Mickey. Alright, so nowyou got your other team. You're
gonna go out there and you'regonna do some nitro rallycross.
Man, I can't wait to watch yourip up the track
on that. Yeah, it's tomorrow onrumble. So you can check it out.
Get the rumble app. It's free.
You can watch it. So we'll betomorrow and Saturday racing.

(01:04:05):
All right. Hey, kick some assout there buddy and have fun at
Grand into we're gonna bewatching that too. So good. Ly
way to get your grand andeyebrow.
I think Jimmyby the Alright, so let's get
Matt Gerald and Dylan Parsons onhere. I didn't see him just yet.
So may invite them. I love beingable to get all this behind the

(01:04:26):
scenes information from guyslike Jimmy and everybody that's
been on the show so far, becauseit really gives me an
understanding of what what otherpeople can utilize the
information to be able to do so.
I think Matt's already joinedus. Let me invite Dylan real
quick. And we'll get going andtalking to them.

(01:04:54):
Hey, Oh, one second Matt. Noproblem. There you go. Oh. All
right, Matt Jarrell. What's up,dude? How are you?
I'm pretty good already. George.
Good to see you. Yeah. Anddella, what's up, dude? What's
up, dude? So there was like,I've talked to Matt a few times.
Over the past couple of months, there was a ton of work that you

(01:05:16):
guys put in to the race programto be able to get out to anago.
How high was the anticipationlevel?
Well, I was hot. I like theexcitement finally sat in
probably Thursday, like, we'vebeen working on this truck
since. I mean, before granted, last year. I mean, we had plans
of starting on taking up themike ban global shop. And I

(01:05:38):
mean, we spent nine months onthis truck. So
that's a long time, right. Solike, we just asked all the
other guys like, how you preparefor it, like the day after
Crandon, like at the end of theyear, and then all of a sudden,
you're back into a get ready forthe next season?
Yeah, I mean, we started out westarted, we had plans before,
before Brandon even came beforelike we were racing, granted,

(01:05:58):
but we were already planning onfor this year at that time.
Yeah. Does it make you feel likeyou're more prepared? Or do you
see it? Like, what's the vibegoing into the race week?
Yeah, I'd like to say we aremore prepared. But like, there
was still some things like weweren't prepared for I mean,
moving up to a truck has been abig step. I mean, like, it just,
there's so much more movingparts. I mean, have had that

(01:06:18):
more of a crew. And everyone'sbeen a huge help. Yeah, it's
prettywell, and like, so let's talk
about some of the help. So,Matt, you've been working on the
truck and working on theprogram, how have things been
goingthings go? Well, you know, I
brought in some of my old crewguys that helped out on my buggy
team and Dylan, it was prettymuch as Dylan and his dad racing

(01:06:39):
buggies for the last, you know, few years. So I want to bring in
a good crew guy that we counton. And we brought in Curtis and
Isa rock solid and, you know, all the crew that helped build
the truck and everything. It's,it's been going good.
Yeah, it's crazy how much workit takes, right? Like, you'd be
in a race or yourself and kindof moving over to the kind of

(01:07:01):
the crew side of it and managingthese race programs and stuff.
Is it a little different, likeyou understanding that?
Everything that you do, he hasto have full faith and yeah,
it's,it's way more stressful to than
just hopping in and driving. Youknow, I don't put my body on the
line anymore. But making sureeverything is perfect. And we
have all the right people andtools and parts and everything

(01:07:22):
in place and making sure we're100% ready.
Yeah, it's all a gap. Remingtonsaid. Yeah, use more race field
to get enough race fuel man.
Even if you just have to smellit. It just smells so good.
Yeah, especially the Pete. Yeah.
Totally. Sponsored plug rightthere. Hey, So Dylan, what was

(01:07:43):
some of the favorite parts ofthis weekend because the
anticipation level is so high.
I'm probably just finallygetting out there and driving
the truck like with all the bighitters. I mean, we ran a race a
few weeks ago, and there wasfive of us and we were all kind
of using that as practice race.
But I mean, this race was Imean, it was the big it was the
show and we I mean it was nerveracking and like finally get in

(01:08:06):
this truck and Antigo proved tobe off track like I was like
what the truck on Saturday solike you can't wait to go do
just five minutes driving it toohard into a corner and put on
the brake and then there'sanother truck there and I ended
up on his hoodso well that was the truck

(01:08:26):
though because the trucking whatI saw like the little bit I saw
it I didn't see much. The truckactually looked like it was
doing pretty good. You guys haveto make a lot of adjustments.
A few little adjustments, likesome shock adjustments. I'm just
just dialing in from ourbaseline kind of thing and like

(01:08:46):
Mike Dan global gave us a goodbaseline to start with and like
my knowledge of shocks and thatkind of thing. Like we're gonna
get it figured out it was it wasjust getting the rebound, start
coming out not packing andthere's a couple big jumps there
that we had to sail in for.
That's cool though, man. Like itjust makes it seem like all the

(01:09:07):
work that you put in theoffseason was worth it right
because now you're like okay, well now we have a pretty solid
baseline setup and we can go tocrammed and one of the funnest
tracks on the planet.
Yeah, for sure. I mean, I thinkCrandon I mean, I've done well
at Crandon I think we can comeinto Crandon swinging now like
after getting some more seattime driving this trucks been a
big stepping stone like it's notlike a UTV or buggy where you

(01:09:32):
can run the short line or on theinside you have to move your
line out way more than youexpect. Like you have to move it
out to new lines versus whatyou're running in the buggy and
side by sides.
Yeah, you totally well the endthe buggy it's a load side by
side is a little less but it'slike the buggies rolling speed
and this is even more rollingspeed because you have to be so
careful driving with the rearend like that.

(01:09:53):
Yeah, for sure. Like the baggyhad a cutting break kind of save
you and this doesn't and you'regood to The point and your your
split out like before you evenknow
Yeah, actually marry you spotand for him does he have a
different spotter? No I do allthis so when you're so spot for
him Do you have to anticipate ita little different since it's a
different vehicle?

(01:10:13):
No, I spotted her prolightsbefore so it that that hasn't
been a problem justsince since he's driving a
different truck than buggy.
Yeah, definitely. Yeah, we wegot to. We're figuring it out as
we go. And luckily, we have somegood people helping us with with
that. Soyeah, that's cool. What tires
did you guys end up running? Doyou guys run the same ones that
everybody else did?

(01:10:35):
We we started out with the razorATS. And Chris Shaw put in an
awesome group for us forqualifying. And it was a great,
great tire. And, you know, we'vebeen really happy with it when
we tested and everything. Justwhen we came to the race, we we
did not anticipate them wateringthe living crap out of it. And

(01:10:56):
we we weren't set up for that.
And that was on me. So the nextday, we ended up running the
Bravo 771 ATS and Dylan washooked up really well with those
So okay, so it gave you a littlebit more traction though. Yeah,
just little little bit moretraction, a little different
Memorial roof. We just ran themon the rear and like it was

(01:11:18):
hooked up on on Sunday.
Yeah, sounds like a sense. Itwas clay. It sounds like maybe
it helped clean up the tires alittle bit.
Yeah, for sure. Or like thegroove was it had a wider open
groove in the center, like allthe way across and they hooked
up good. It was actually thesame tire that one in ProLight
on Sunday, too. So cool.
Yeah. So like whenever I hearstories like that, I always

(01:11:38):
think of like US racing. Iusually hated making changes in
the middle of the weekend. LikeI wanted the car to be the same,
like don't change a tire grooveor don't change any patterns or
suspension settings. But I likewhen you guys come away with
stuff like this because now itmeans that you know what each
feeling is like when you go intocrane and next time.
Yeah, for sure. Like springcrane is always super soft. So

(01:11:59):
I'm not sure what we're going toshow up to again, I guess. Yeah,
yeah. What tires we're going torun there yet.
Yeah. But at least you know, like, you have an idea of what
both tires are going to do.
Right, Matt?
Yeah, we're a lot more preparednow. With the tires and in big
thanks to Brody Engelstad forhelping us out with tires. It's
It's been nice having him. Youknow, we're able to look at his

(01:12:20):
tires and what he's runningbecause he's kind of new to
Max's too. So it's been great.
Yeah, vibe off each other. Whatwere some of the sketchy is
moments? Uh, yeah.
Um, well, probably flipping overon Saturday. But then like, the
big the triple. Like, that's allit was kind of a tabletop trip
all but like, you had to getover it. And like, I would get,

(01:12:41):
I had it perfect. And practiceand qualifying and then come to
the race. It was a little more,it was wet, and we couldn't get
over it. And I actually smashedmy skidplate in on Sunday. Like,
just I'm like, I gotta get overthis thing. Like, that's the
best way but I just kept. It wasIt was rough. Like that actually
hurt more than rolling over.
You just smack your back. That'scrazy. Dude. What about the

(01:13:04):
racing? Like, were you prettyprepared for how fast everybody
was gonna be?
I'm like, so like half the fieldI've raced with before and the
buggies and stuff like that. Solike, I mean, we got 20 keepers
and Paul Hayward. I've racedagainst them for years and the
buggies and so like, most of usin the class, like, we respect
each other and stuff like that, like I feel like we do. I mean,

(01:13:25):
we're gonna still throw in doorif we have to. But like, I don't
want to I don't want to go smashinto anyone. I don't think
there's many in the class thatwant to smash into each other
either.
Yeah. Especially when you haveto or you have a crew that has
to work on the ship. Yes, yeah.
I got him on a body this week.
But that was my own doingbecause I I wrecked that.
So Matt tells you hey, youreckon it's on you? Pretty much.

(01:13:49):
Oh, that's hilarious, man. Sothere's a couple things that I
want to talk about that were alittle bit on race related. So
Matt, I have a final questionfor you. But Dylan, it's kind of
cool to see like Matttransitioning into this new role
with you guy. Well, new roles,so to speak with you guys like
managing the program and helpingout so much behind the scenes
because he was a driver himself.
And how cool is it for you to beable to get all of the advice,

(01:14:10):
expertise and be able to workwith some of your friends too?
Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure. LikeMatt. I think Matt's into it
more than I am at some point.
It's like he, he's like, he'slike, he asked me something. I'm
like, I don't know. He's like,Well, give me an answer. And I
mean, I've known Matt. I mean,probably, I mean, we've been

(01:14:31):
close now probably five, sixyears now. But my parents raised
with his parents when we werewhen I when he was a kid, but I
was I don't remember thosetimes. Like I'm so much younger
than him, but when Ionly 10 years, yeah.
Well, 10 year old at the trackversus a two year old at the
track, like you know, I'm justoh, that's hilarious, dude.

(01:14:56):
When I got into this, like he's,he's kind of been my mentor, set
star. Did I mean we racedagainst each other for a few
years, but then like once he wasnot racing anymore, he was
pushing me to keep doing what Iwanted to do or so like, what
the side by side a couple ofyears ago, I wasn't like, I
think it was last year, I wasn'tgonna race the full season. And
he's like, Dude, you gotta racelike, it's more seat time and

(01:15:16):
that kind of thing. And, andthen this whole program Kambala
Yeah, it is kind of cool, though. See, like, I love seeing
that. Because I tell everybodyon the show, always. And even in
my in my personal life. It's thepeople around you that make you
successful, whether you'reracing, whether you're in a
business, whether you're inschool, it doesn't matter. You
surround yourself with goodpeople, then you can excel in

(01:15:38):
whatever you're doing, right. Sowhen I think about the program
that you guys are developing, and the people that you have
integrated, it's really, reallycool. Two reasons, because
they're smart. But even moreimportant, they're passionate
about it.
We're definitely passionateabout it. And I is I live for
this stuff. And it's it's allI've ever known my whole life is

(01:16:02):
short course racing. It's hardto walk away from it.
Yeah, totally. And so that's oneof the things I was going to ask
you, Matt is, you know, like, what makes you keep having so
much drive to keep doing it. Soif anybody hasn't seen we've
talked about before, but Mattgot hurt. He, you know, broke
his back. And he's still reallypassionate about it, even though

(01:16:24):
it takes a lot of effort for himto get around at the track and
do work in the shop. You stillput 110% effort into it.
Yeah, you know, I just love thesport, and I love the look of
the I'd love to compete. Now. Iguess that's, that's the thing.
And as Tom Dylan this spring, islike, Man, I just, I just can't

(01:16:44):
wait till we get the truck done.
We can we can compete and seehow we stack up against these
guys. And, you know, I, I raceto win all the time. And, you
know, i That's why I got youknow, I keep pushing forward.
And yeah, we just, I lovehanging out with my friends and
doing this together with withMikey and Dylan and, and all the
other guys that I help. Andyeah, just, I believe in Dylan.

(01:17:06):
And I believe in this programthat we're, that we're, that we
started that we can we can growthis to be something like like,
kinda, hopefully what Calgary ishas. And in some of those other
themes, hopefully we were, we'reknocking on a door and we can
find some partners to keep upwith us.

(01:17:26):
Yeah, totally. Robert Nash alsosaid, you know, Passion is
everything. But that passionactually has to probably make
you feel really good as adriver, Dylan as well, because
that means that you know, nomatter what happens, you have to
obviously perform as the driver, but you have a team that's going
to put in as much effort as youare being trying to get on the
podium. Yeah, forsure. Like, I had to sit back

(01:17:47):
and think about it. We had anissue on Saturday. And Matt's
like, Dude, look at all theseguys that are helping you work
on your truck. And like that, that put me in that respect. I'm
like, we had four guys trying tofigure out this tool. And then
I'm going to look for parts andlike it was an hour before we
raced and we knew we had time, but it was just we had all hands

(01:18:07):
on deck and it was it was prettyit's pretty cool to see that.
All right, we're gonna wind downthe show here real quick. But so
Dylan tell me your favorite partof the entire weekend was out of
course was it in the pitshanging out barbecue, it was
probably there's so many there'sso many things, but I'm just

(01:18:29):
finally getting out there anddriving this truck like trying
to get more comfortable in it.
It's been a big stepping stoneand like all the work that
everyone's putting in like MattMikey Jace, Curtis at the track,
like your child, like everyoneand being involved all winter at
Flying Dutchman and here at fabworks. Just getting all this
getting this truck on the trackhas been I mean, it's pretty

(01:18:51):
cool. Like, I mean, I've so manypeople that have helped out get
this going. And I wouldn't behere without I mean, Matt like
he pushed me to it. And I'mMikey has been a huge help.
Like, it's awesome.
Dude, it always helps to have inthe height man. Right? And then
as Matt was, what was yourfavorite part of the weekend as
you like, you can see this nicebillet Are you?

(01:19:12):
You wouldn't believe it though.
My favorite part of the weekendwas inspired spotting and
qualifying. And mot one of thepeople I look look up to and in
racing is Charles Levy. And heis down there sitting beneath
me, you know, as I'm in thespotters tower and he's tapping
me on the foot telling me towork dealing can be a little
faster and we're makingadjustments and like for me

(01:19:34):
that's that that was the coolestthing. You know, he's my hero
one of my heroes. And he wantsto see me do well and in return
I want to see Dylan do well soit's it's pretty cool. So that
was my favorite part becauseof the support mechanism that
off road provides just it alwaysblows me away. Dude, I love it
so much because everybody wantseverybody else to get better.

(01:19:55):
Yeah, I mean, you got theoccasional shitty person but
still like man, make Meat feelsso good. Like just what we're
talking about the whole familyenvironment. Dude, it's killer.
Yeah, for sure. All right, whatdo you guys eat?
Dude? I think well, we hadSenegal bring Matt some of those
on Sunday when I went up andspotted for side by the What's

(01:20:15):
that? Well what's the cheesecurds like from? Like any girl
it's probably got one of thebest cheese curds out of any of
the tracks that we go todo and I'm so jealous. All
right, well, if I get up there, granted, you guys got to show me
where the bomb cheese curds onyou come to Crandon this fall
and you stay with us, we willhook you up with some T shirts

(01:20:37):
that areprobably going to want a cheese
curd, like the size of that rockthat went into Jimmy. All right,
boys, a thank you very muchreally appreciate everything
that you guys do for the sportand for the industry. I'm so
glad to hear all the behind thescenes stuff that you guys are
working on. Because it reallymakes me proud to have the dirt
life show because I think thedirt life show is actually

(01:20:58):
helping educate some people tobe able to really get their race
programs going. And you guys area key mark key of that. So I
really appreciate you guys.
Yeah, and one last thing I justwant to say and I've been
texting with him all winter longis my friend Kyle at Duke. I
just want to let them know thatwe're all thinking about him in

(01:21:21):
you know, I grew up at theracetrack with him. Yep. And you
know, guys like me and youGeorge we we never gave up with
our our battles and, and shit.
So, you know, you can hopefullyyou can fight through it and
we're all pulling for him.
Yeah, we know that Kyle is nevergonna give up. He's just gonna
keep pushing forward. Right? Soyeah, we're all behind him and
back in and Hey, real quick, too. There's a lot of liquid

(01:21:42):
Molly on the screen. We aresponsored by multiple But Rob
McLogan actually just joined usas well. And he's part of your
guys program right now.
Yeah, Rob's gonna get help.
Like, with getting this programgoing.
Yeah, so it's cool. Caitlyn do?
We're gonna sign off here. We'dlove you, buddy. Keep fighting.
And yeah, we really appreciateit. Man. Do you guys want to

(01:22:06):
throw any more shoutouts beforewe bail?
Um, I mean, I just like to thankMaximus. I mean, Chris this
weekend's been awesome. hookingus up with tires Ultra wheel.
Like banded global I FlyingDutchman J set Bab works where I
am tonight. He's been quiet so Ican be on this right now. He's
trying to work still. africareAuden's my family like everyone.

(01:22:32):
My dad, like, he puts peopleit's 110% into this and
sometimes he might not show up.
But like he he he he loves this.
Sodo the behind the scenes guys.
Sometimes they're so quiet, butyou know they love it.
Yeah, definitely. Yeah. Also,Matt. Also a few more lifetime
scoring. JJ installation, Max'sKomali just big thanks to

(01:22:58):
everyone who else?
Yeah, and thanks for Max's forbeing such a great part of the
show. All right, boys. So what'snext?
Granite? Yeah,I bet you're stoked. Yeah,
that's gonna be interestingthing. We're not running the
full track. It sounds like butit should meet these prospects
thing pretty good.
Yeah. What's the deal? Like, what are they changing?

(01:23:18):
I'm like, you know, dirt one, like that, that track like going
around where the spotters toweris now?
Oh, yeah, that's right. Didn't Ithink Mickey just told us that
yeah, that's kind of crazy dude, that's going to be so different.
It's not like it's going tohonestly, it's going to change
everything because the momentumis going to be way different on
the restof their solver. Side by side
they're doing that to like thatpart of the track. Like let's

(01:23:42):
change everything that's goingto be what what do you think
it's going to do MattI think it's gonna it's gonna
definitely even the playingfield out a little bit because
you know, there's been guysthey've been testing they're all
spring and they got theirgearing figured out and I think
you know, shortening the trackup a little bit and like you
said, knock here into themomentum all the way to the

(01:24:02):
gravel pit, the top speeds gonnabe down a little bit so it'll be
interestingchange the lines, your line
choices and stuff too becausethose insights are going to be
way more important becauseyou're not going to have all
that speed aroundand the dirt is going to be
super super soft through therebecause because it's no one's
ran on it. So it's, it's goingto be with with all the snow
that we get in the winter, andyou know, after the after the

(01:24:26):
spring run races the track willwill start to get harder but
right now it's gonna get slowlyall right at
the track one last time a trackmanual I'm sorry in bringing
them to fall like the fall youget way more blue groove than in
the spring.
Oh, just do the packs in.
Alright, so 2020 fit mom saidbecause of last year I'm sure

(01:24:49):
it's more of a save you thinkwell, it might be racing can
always be safer. So weappreciate the crown and people
for doing what they do. Allright, boys. We really
appreciate it. Have fun in X masgranted, thanks.
Thanks for everything.
Yeah, no problem. We'll see youguys later. All right, so we're

(01:25:11):

all the behind the scenes thatreally makes me happy to hear
about the cheese curds for sure.

Max's for presenting you theshow. And just it's so good to
see that they're supporting somany racers, especially in so
many different disciplines likedesert and shore course and all

(01:25:32):
these different again, racingdisciplines. Thanks to the guys
over at KMC wheels, please gosupport them. Like I said, if
you can go down to your localforeign parts dealer and grab
some tires and some wheels.
