There was Barbie Jeep Racingand a bunch of other stuff.
The river, It was pretty nuts.

There was always something going on, Yeah what

I would say the concerts were probably the best.
The music was pretty cool,always kept everyone rowdy.
There was bull riding, whichwas crazy to see.
Yeah, it was pretty rad, prettyintense.
You're always on your tiptoes.

right, because there's racingall over the place.
They had Natural Rally Christthere too, so Travis Pastrana
brought all of his crazy crewout there.
I saw they did like a backflip,you know?

And then they have some otherstuff too, like concerts and

I know there was Tim Montana, a cowboy singer, and
stuff like that.
There was a lot of other coolthings, but I don't know.
It was definitely crazy.
They had a whole schedule witha bunch of stuff, that
everything was hour by hour ofwhat they were doing.

in general, bella, is the youth,right, like you're sitting here
next to me because you want tolearn a little bit about
broadcasting and kind of gettingyourself out there more.

So you're both, and that's whatI love most.

And a lot of the people and alot of the kids that are going
to come on today are the same,and there was like hundreds and
hundreds of kids out there.

No, the 170 class was stacked with like 20 or 30 cars
, which is crazy to me, butespecially like the little girls
in there, women representingthe whole industry is.
it makes me really proud.

Park that like really opens thefloodgates to having everybody

was a lot of competition.
I didn't really realize howaggressive these kids were until
I saw them start driving.

mean Like bumping and banging.

Yeah, they bump and bang and then my favorite part
is they get out and they're justbest friends right after.
Like they don't, it's stillgood on and off the track.
You know, i think those thingstotally separate, which I love.

I feel like we need to carry that vibe into like
grown up racing, like don't be adick when you get out of the
car.

But I'm still jealous that youguys got to go there, because I
wanted to go on the Lazy Riverand I wanted to eat tacos with
everybody And I really wanted towatch some of the racing,
mostly because I want to see thelike the layout of the park.
Brian Atkison, who you knowthat helps with the Outlaw
series or operates Outlaw series, is now helping with Mid

He was telling me that thefacility has a bunch of
different tracks.

Yes, they do.

So what were some of the different tracks?
So I know they had Nitro Crossand then what else?

Speaker 3 (08:58):
They had Nitro Cross, they had R-Track.
There was the UTV track.
Yeah, the UTV track.
There's Pipike tracks.
I know there's an RC car track.
There's a lot of different.
There was like RC car nationalright.
Yes, it was crazy to see allthese grown men with little
controllers.

Dude, they get hot and bothered too, like they get
really angry.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
It's great, it's intense.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Did crews go over there and check them?

They throw you down pretty easy, right, yeah Yeah.
And then there was some goodracing too.
So I think, from what I saw atleast, that that track really
lends itself very well to a lotof different option lines.
So give us a little bit of abreakdown of actually we'll go
into your racing, but give us alittle bit of a breakdown of the
tracks and what you got toexperience, and then we'll talk

about your racing.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
So we got to experience the UTV track.
It is a super laid out, superclean track.
They have everything really puttogether.
It did change over the last fewyears that I've been there.
So this is my third year atVisions, but yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Dude, you're local, yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
I hope so.
I hope I become local.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
So it was a really like.
When I want to go race a trackand I've raced a bunch of
different tracks in my life Ialways look for the best racing
conditions in the track, and Idon't mean like a perfectly
watered or groomed track, i meanlike a track where you have
options like you go outside, yougo inside, you have passing
lines.
Did I have that?

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Yes, they did have that.
There was plenty of differenttype of driving styles that you
could have used on this track.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Which I think is cool .
So did you have some prettygood battles.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yeah, Yeah, I had some pretty good battles, I'd
say, especially in the expertclass, more of an aggressive
kind of tone.
It was really cool, Yeah.
So what classes did you race?
So I raced women's NA andplaced second.
And then I raced no expert NAand then placed seventh overall.

Dude, really Yes, were you getting it?

Speaker 3 (11:04):
or what.
It was pretty intense, some ofthe best racing I've done.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Really Yeah, so you must be pretty proud of yourself

So what was the?
you know, i don't know if youever heard me say it, but like
when you're in the zone, likeyou're in this, like tunnel, and
you just like you're drivingbehind the wheel and you just
all you can think about is arace and you feel like you're
like, oh my gosh, i could putthis car within an inch.
Like, is that the zone you werein?

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah, it was crazy Pushing the car to with limits
and not worried about anyonebehind you.
It was really intense, but someof the coolest driving.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Did you have some good battles with people?

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Yeah, I actually did.
Yeah, Josie Watkins actuallythe real hit is coming on to the
show.
She was in first right in frontof me, So it was cool chasing
after her.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Is she a really good driver, jess?

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Yes, She's super talented, very good car.
Very excited to talk to her.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
So when you see a girl like that racing, are you
like okay?
well, if she's a little bitbetter than me, i'm not going to
get pissed.
I'm going to try to elevate mygame and like, keep up with her.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
It definitely pushes you as a driver and as a person
too, like it's really cool tosee someone above you so you
know you can do the same.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
That's exactly the way that you learn good too,
because you have an open mindand a clear perspective.
Yes, that's going to be awesome.
So, from the beginning of theweekend until the end of the
weekend, if you were going toput like a percentage ratio on
it, like 10%, 20%, how muchfaster do you think you went on
the last lap compared to thefirst lap?

Speaker 3 (12:24):
I would say about 30% to 40% faster.
Really that much.
Yes, that's insane.
I haven't been really drivingthe RS1 lately So I had like
kind of a year, maybe half ayear, break.
So it was pretty like crazy tolike go from nothing to
everything, but I really, ireally pushed myself.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
And what about your family and everybody and all
your friends and the pit crewand stuff that was helping
support you?
Were they like wow, bella, youdrove fantastic?

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yeah, no, I had Kinley out there.
She really helped a lot.
My mom, my dad, they all, theyall really supported.
It was really cool.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah, i'm just saying like for the progress, though,
like you guys like do a downloadof information or a debrief,
like on your way home or likeafter we got GoPro footage going
on so we can look back see whatlines we took.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
I usually compare with my brother, So we know, you
know, like what I could dobetter next year or what I need
to, you know, keep it improvingand stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Did your brother race too?
Yes, he did.
How did he do?

Speaker 3 (13:17):
He raced the pro stock class for the first time
with Chase.
Oh, really A little nervewracking.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
He's been jumping up quite a bit, But um yeah, I
guess coming up to that nextlevel, especially with how
competitive that class is,because that's honestly one of
the most competitive classes onthe track.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Aggressive clean drivers, but aggressive for sure
.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Right, but it's everybody that's coming up from
the fast kids like dude.
I always tell everybody thatthat's one of the best classes
to watch because those kids havesuch it was so intense And
their skill set is like yeah,and their skill sets mind
blowing.
Sometimes it's like ballet,seeing them both sideways.
Oh yeah, yeah, it's crazy.
And so your brother was stokedon his performance or I'd say

he's pretty stoked.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
He unfortunately had to fall back due to some
mechanical issues.
Oh, bummer, yeah, no, he'll gethim next time It was.
It was really cool watching him, especially Chase too.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
Yeah, exactly.

So, to continue talking aboutthe, actually what time is it?

So I think it's really coolthat you got to experience all
that stuff.
But I also want to understand alittle bit about how you guys

operate your program and thekind of stuff that you saw there
, because I always talk abouthow Off-road is a collaborative
effort and just a really goodcrew of people.
Right, right, was there a lotof people that were coming into
the pits helping other peoplewith set-ups or broken cars or
different things like that Thatyou saw?

Speaker 3 (15:04):
yeah, especially the people out there.
They're super, super nice,super humble, but it's not
something you can do alone.
You need a program to help youout, like we.
We had a bunch of peoplehelping us out.
If this was their job and theysaw someone struggling, they
would still go help them withtheir job, if that's just the
kind of people we surroundourselves with.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
But no offering has such a good camaraderie.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Yeah, yes.

And then one other thing that I want to do is I
wanted to go on the lazy river.

Oh yeah, that was, that was the best.

It's just with the throttle, it just like flips, or
it was a Brian car was tellingme that those stand-ups were

Oh yeah, you just hit it and it goes dude, that's
nuts, okay.

And then I was gonna ask you to like some of the
coolest racing, at least that Isaw from afar on social media
Was two things I saw thoseelectric cars which, with the
professional drivers, lookInsane cool, and the Volkswagen,
yeah.

Yes, so which was?

your favorite out of both of those?

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Um, I would have to say the electric cars were they
just insane fast.
No, they were insane fast andhitting everything like it was
effortless It was.
it was pretty cool to watch.

How about, like, when they Go into corners and come
out of corners, since they haveso much power, they really slide
in a lot or they get traction.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Um, i would say they kind of slide a lot.
There was really no traction,but it was cool watching some of
the lines that they took whenthey were going close to tires
and stuff you got some fans cameAnd saying hi to you.

I said then you know these girl at heart, Oh yeah.
And then it looks like shekeeps trying to join the the

It was a whole week of racing.

pitback racing, some type ofracing, even Barbie Jeep racing,
really, yes, what the heck isthat you get in a Barbie Jeep
and you go down this huge hillAnd whoever hits the water first
wins, don't you bite the dust?
Oh, it was like people werecoming out of the water with

Yeah, Dude, it probably looks like a scary
movie at the bottom It was crazy.

It was so crazy people just eating it.

They everything's on schedule,especially the practices and
races, and you know Stuff getsdone when it gets to get done
and it is fun and super sillythe whole week.
But they do take the racingvery seriously.

So yeah, it seems like they got a pretty good
operation going there And I knowit's gonna.
I know it's gonna keep growingIn terms of.
Pointer also said that they'regonna build a new short course
track And I forgot what elsethey said that they were gonna
build there.
But it sounds like, with allthe stuff that they're doing
there, it's gonna really startgrowing and a lot of people are
gonna start going there.

it like a vacation or Airbnbhouse out there that you can

But then you would hit jumpsand you would have that smacking

Yeah, i'd say there's like one main race line but if
you're faster than somebody infront of you, you can definitely
find a way around becauseyou've got a lot of options.
The the track set big and widethat you know.
You could just change theangles and and go around people
pretty not easily, but you coulddefinitely pass.

running the same lines in thepain and you know it's just ever
changed the more laps to getburned, it gets more.

I mean the tracks, so there'sso many angles for the guys in
the outfield Sometimes look andyou know they've got like a
tabletop leading the corner onthe inside.
Only that leaves this secondhalf of the track wide open to
have like a big, wide bull turn.
It was really good And made itreally well.

passes that have all the classes.

So whoever could kind of adaptto it the fastest was the one

I would say, even watching you practice to
watching some of the last racesthat you did, you had a lot of
good progression going andmoving up and going from 11th to

The 170s are a lot smaller than some of the other
cars, so it's the tracks morewider to them, so they have an

of you and keep your cornerstied and make sure you're always

I think that's been a while, but 2019 I really picked
up and I won my first nationalchampionship cross-country
racing.
My coach is actually TravisWarner.
I think he's watching right now.
You get me and me and Travis ona racing again, or racing with
each other for 2019 to current,and I've won two national
championships 2019 and 2020.
And then 2021 was like my trialyear and short versus.

So you were making out thetrack, like in your speed, your
comfortability, all that.

Jason, that hold you guys, it'sall good.

I read aims and lines of my cars and Travis will.
The data all got on his deviceand I was only like 20 or 30
percent.
They're all like.
I was like I and I really needto pick it up and then, towards
like the end of the weekend andstuff, i really, really picked
it up.

Yeah, that's actually super cool at Travis will
probably give you the data andtell you exactly how you did.
But when you're like 20 or 30percent throttle or whatever you
just said 30, 40 That meansthat you're negotiating throttle
properly on the track, right,because it's not necessarily how
much throttle you give it, it'show smooth and how much
momentum and rolling speed thatyou keep on the track through

(01:34:05):
the corners and through thestraightaways.
So, depending on how the grippythe track is or out grippy in
this case, yeah, there you go,100 percent throttle less than
30 percent of the time.
So you were really reallynegotiating the track conditions

It sounds like Yeah, i mean the two practice lock

It was like kind of like muddya little bit So I was like

like because the level ofcompetition in your guys's class

then second place was like 1391or 139 plus Yeah so like two

Yeah, I Knew my smaller as an episode on the
last laps and the key rates havemy style points.

kind of a little wide in oneturn.
So the last lap by a whenoutside in on him and Was it
hard to do or did you just like?

because that means that you had set it up like
Corners and corners in advance,right?

Yeah, i was watching his line as lap and core but I
was a little far back So I can'treally make it stick there.
But like came back clear, hekind of like swath a little bit
off the jump.
So when we landed, anything Ihad to do right there, or else
is I'm gonna go.

Like, honestly, when I hearChase talk like this, it makes

his off-road car.

that he operates, like when he'sout there racing so that you

can Be better, or like how doyou use it to your advantage so
you can be a better driver?

So I watch a lot of the pro turbo classes.
So me and Travis always sittogether and we watch like Kyle
Chaney and stuff and we alwaystalk about look at the lines
Kyle's like he's look at themomentum He's carrying into the
corner of like.
It really helps watching thepro guys because me and Travis
sit there and like analyze itall races.

Yeah, that does help a lot, bella.
You and I were just talkingabout that, about, like, how you
can visually see and take thosevisual cues from Yeah, the pro
drivers right?
What are some things, josie,that you learned when you were
watching them?

I'm gonna like clean up my lines better and how to
take my corners better, and meand Travis are talking like on
the corners That I had aholland's with like I could sit
there and watch Kyle.
Kyle would do them literallyperfectly.

Yeah, that's kind of crazy.

dude, we're just hearing thatyou and Chase were battling in
that last race Never a lot offun.

Yeah, i've been hams the whole year, so I've been
trying to keep my face.
I probably did it.
It's lost race and Chasedefinitely made it for me.

Yeah, but that makes you guys both girls drivers,

Oh yeah, for sure.

Yeah, so it's the same thing kind of happened with
Josie too right, like you'retrying to give her as much
trouble as possible, she'strying to get out there and win.
and then obviously in the turboclass She had a lot of
competition too, right, josie?

Yeah, it's really weird running my little RS1
against the big X3's and stuff.
I was like man Oh.

This whole time I thought she was talking.
She had a turbo car.

Okay, so you have one that's like a mod car and one

They're both basically identical.
I just have a backup car.

Man, what was the some of thefunnest parts of the track then?
cuz like we were talking withHunter and Cody Miller And it
seems like the track is kind ofI don't know coming into its own
, like there's gonna be newlines that develop.
But what was the track likethat you guys had, or what was

the funnest part of the trackthis past week?

Speaker 5 (01:41:53):
I definitely have.
But my best parts in the trackAnd the finish line jump first S
term.
That's where I'd catch chasethe whole time and chase just
Pacing me like creeps S turnheads.
That's what me is such a good.

So you guys had different areasof the track.
Was that because your cars werebetter or because you guys were
better in those areas?

Pace was just better.

Yeah, well, that's actually a good thing to talk
about, right like I'm gonna askthis two ways, i'm gonna chase.
What's the difference in yourdriving styles?

the race, so chase you go first.

Um, i mean, kenan started with that super wide bar
So he always slides it aroundand I'm more of like a not lost
slide and around for fun, butit's not always faster.
So I kind of drive mine like ago-kart and that's where I kind
of build them in the in the Sturns, but Yeah, Well, when?

Speaker 1 (01:43:03):
so when I hear that, like the first thing cause I
didn't watch and Josie's goingto tell us what it looked like
from the outside if she watchedthe race.
But so when I hear that I thinkwhat Chase is doing inside the
car is managing with two feet,Yes, so he's pedaling the car
and he's using less input on thesteering wheel.
But when he says the canin isdriving, i don't want to say
like a wild man, but basicallysliding it all over the place,

right Like that, means thatyou're using your right foot a
lot more and you're giving a lotmore steering input.
So what did you notice, josie,when you were watching the race?

Speaker 4 (01:43:32):
And I know all this like chase with tight-knit
corners and canin would go likea little wide in them, like they
always like put 12 back andforth how they did corners And I
found that like reallyinteresting.
They were right by like on that, but I were doing like two
completely different things ateach corner.

That's so cool to see though, right, bella?

Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
Yeah, Both equally as fast.
but you guys just have adifferent talent.

Been watching Chase how he'sdoing it for tracks is very much
, though I think I'm actuallybeing invited to a car thing.

And then you know, Chase, thatthey're gonna have an outdoor go
car track in Minnessey now,right.

Speaker 5 (01:44:30):
Yeah, i stole that.
I knew the K1 speed one Didwe're going.
Yeah, i still have my car inthe garage.

So we're gonna get a whole crewtogether and go out there.
