Melvin O. Handrich (January 26, 1919 – August 26, 1950) was a soldier in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean War. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his actions on August 25 and 26, 1950, during the Battle of the Pusan Perimeter. He is buried at Little Wolf Cemetery in Manawa, Wisconsin.

LtCol Jay Ziemer and Lt Joseph Sarnowski were part of the crew of a B-17 flying on a reconnaissance mission on June 16, 1943, that was ambushed by 21 Japanese Zeros.
