Speaker 1 (00:03):
You know my shot to do what Mikey hughes. First off,
(00:26):
before we even talk anything, I owe you an absolute apology.
This has been what feels like over a year overdue.
They say you hurt the ones you love the most,
or ignore ignore the ones you love the most, and
it's been on me. As you could see the studios
being renovated, everything has gone away. Like even setting this up,
(00:49):
I was trying to find a camera that worked. You
recommended me not to use the camera above. It didn't
look good. So Mikey, yeah, we're here, baby, trade deadlines
here know yea? How you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:01):
It's been one hundred and eight years. Man, it feels
like the Cubs won the World Series again.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
You know I haven't.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
You know, Mike Powers is a hard man to get.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
A hold of.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I think, give us a shot Network, But he's here, man,
He's always here, He's always doing something.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I'll always be here for you, buddy. Oh wait, I
promise that, yo. Speaking of the Cubs winning the World Series,
did you see that AI generated thing that like predicted
the next like fifty years of World Series winners? I did.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
I saw the Savannah Bananas do win their first World
Series in like twenty years and I was like, Okay,
I mean, if we're doing bagflips and shit in the
in the outfield, I guess I guess that'll that'll help them.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
But yeah, and as we speak right now, they're on
the CW and ESPN nationally, which is insane. But more importantly, uh,
this weekend, over one hundred thousand people walked into Philadelphia
to watch that game, and I'll tell you I was
one of them. I'm proud to say that it was fantastic, dude,
(01:59):
absolutely electric, so much fun, a whole different spin on
the game. The ball's different. I immediately went over to
the concessions dand bought one of the balls, just like
I feel it, grip it, get a sense of what
it was going on. But yeah, like you said, those
trick players are sick man, and and some of those
kids like out there. I mean, they're as the average
salaries thirty dollars an hour, so they're playing for pride.
(02:22):
But that thing, I mean, that's that's wwe like pay
per view type attendance. So and they're doing this throughout
the country and it's just it was a lot of fun.
They had a hot dog eating contest, with Joey Chestnut
eating right field while the game was being played. My
mind was just blown, like the fact that they're doing that,
(02:44):
and like there's no sense of like, yeah, they you know,
a screamingline drive might kill the god that is Joey Chestnut.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, so sure, and that'll be the thing that takes
them out, which is the craziest part, not eating one
hundred hot dollars a day. But no, man, it's really
cool to kind of see what they're doing. And I
know a few guys like Meadows and obviously Liam Spence,
my Aussie from Australia who drafted by the Cubs straight
out of Tennessee. You know, he had the option of
going back home and playing overseas, going to Australia, or
(03:12):
you know, riding it out here with the firefighters and
the Savannah Bananas organization. And I think it's really kind
of cool to see what he's been able to do.
Last fourth of July, we actually went to the Chicago
Dogs game. I don't know what league the Chicago Dogs
are in, but we were at the game and he
was playing for another team where you know, you're making
like ten bucks an hour pretty much. I can't quote
that being ten bucks, but it's not no penny, dude. Yeah,
(03:34):
and for I will say for it to be thirty
bucks an hour for the Savannah Bananas. I mean, I
don't even make thirty bucks an hour. I don't even
make twenty bucks an hour.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
So like, dude, for me, I do minimum wage. I
would play baseball anything, for sure, But no, they're athletes.
I mean, the Bananas hit two home runs last night.
You know, the tail Getters looked like a great team too,
to the point where I was like, the next game
I go to, I don't want the Bananas there. I
want to learn about these other teams. And uh, you know,
(04:02):
we have some allegiance to fire fighting, right your your family,
you're you're pretty much born in in a firehouse, right
from what I understand. And you know, we also got
germ uh who's out there protecting the streets of Leland,
North Carolina. So I'm like, I'm like, should that be
our team? And also are they going to go to
(04:23):
Chicago eventually? Because the Chicago the Fireman Chicago Firemen sound
freaking awesome, like, you know, so we do already.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Have the Chicago fire but I'm sure they can they
can figure it out.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Yeah, they'll make it happen, right, Like, I don't know, you.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Could do like the great Chicago Fires like something, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, they got Yeah, they gotta figure something out. But
these you know, and they bring out like a ladder
or something during their game. So I started like diving
into all these other teams and I was just like, yo,
this this is pretty crazy. I mean it, dude. And
and like the amount of kids that were there, like
so it's like everybody wants to say Baseball's dead. It's
an old man's sport. This is bringing up back and
and I'm sorry, there's no other not even the NFL.
(05:03):
We saw it with the XFL. They're not selling out
forty five thousand fans, you know, on a random Saturday
and then doing it back to back on a Sunday. So,
like I said, one hundred thousand people went through. There's
no other sport that's able to do that right now.
And Savannah Bananas have created a niche where the whole
(05:24):
world is buzzing the hottest ticket to get to give
you an idea to go to the Phillies game. It
was forty five dollars to get in to get into
the Phillies Yankees game, to get into the Savannah Banana game,
it was one hundred plus.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
That's yeah. Those stats are from our friends over at tickpck.
Check out tickpic use code FS ten and get ten
dollars off your first your next order. Yeah. But yeah,
humble brag, humble plug. Sure.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
But like also, I kind of just wanted to point
this out because I did see the movie yesterday. It's
no spoilers, it's just the entire plot of the movie
of Happy Gilmour too. They're trying trying to reinvent golf.
They're trying to make it quicker, they're trying to make
it more fun.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
There's a new league.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
It's the pros versus this new era, and that reminds
me so much of the Savannah Bananas in that sense, like,
you know, just like an Happy Gilmore. You know, these
guys are trying to show that, like, hey man, no
one cares about golf. It's boring, no one can watch it.
I want Happy Gilmore style golf, where everybody just swinging
and dinging and doing their thing. And this is kind
of what the Savannah Bananas are in real life, So
(06:26):
it is kind of funny, like if we ever did
get to see, like you said that Chad GBT made
the Savannah Banana's World win the World Series in twenty fifty,
Like what if the Savannah Bananas really did go up
against like retired MLB players like Ichiro Suzuki or some
of those guys who shout out Ichio by the way
made the Hawk today so great. But like, you know,
if we did get to see former legends face off
(06:48):
against these guys, I do think it would be like
the craziest like spin of it all. And I'm pretty
sure like guys like Ken Griffy Junior would still take
all those guys deep, but it'd be pretty fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Fair Like I I first glance, I was like, there's
not many hard hit balls. Honestly, it's a yellow ball,
so I'm colorblind, so it was so hard for me
to read. I was gonna, yeah, I couldn't. I couldn't
keep track of it, and you know it definitely. I
was like, man, like I was scared, I was gonna
like take one of the phase. Man. You were trying
to you were trying to catch a home run ball. Yo,
(07:20):
I brought. So at first I was gonna bring my
own glove and I was like, ah, that's corny. So
I convinced my daughter to bring her glove, and like, dude,
I don't know if you saw the highlights. She got
to play whiffle ball before in the little Citizens Bank
field that was all done up with bananas. But dude,
first pitch swinging over the fence, I was like, that's
my girl. So like she was timing it in the
(07:41):
dug like on deck circle. She just she did her thing.
And then she's like, Dad, give me her glove. I'm
playing in the outfield and she's you know, uh, you know,
catching some pop flyes. So it was an amazing, amazing experience.
The Savannah bananas definitely made it a whole family event.
We got there, I was texting you, this has been
the greatest day I've ever had in this stadium, and
(08:03):
it's we're three hours away from first pitch, you know,
and everything was an event. It just it it felt good, man,
it was. It made me feel really good about the
sport of baseball and where it's headed. And it just
for me, like it was probably one of the best
shows I've ever got to experience with and it is
a show and they called a show, and uh, you know,
(08:24):
it's definitely like a circus. They do a lot of
stuff that is crazy. But as you mentioned, Hall of Famer,
uh you know, we we talked about this a little
bit before we went live. These Hall of Fame hats
are strange, dude, or I mean, you know, I think
some of them look cool. I think the White Sox.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
I was watching Cubs White Sox Crosstown right now. I
think that Ben Brown's on the mound, so Cubs totally
could be losing since we started filming this. But I
think some of them look decent, Like the White Sox.
I kind of liked how the logo looked. Cubs still
look two to one top of the fitness nice, but
you know, the Cubs one, it it was just the Cubs,
you know what I mean. It's it's just the generic
see with a Hall of Fame patch on the side,
(09:05):
and I kind of just wish it was a little
bit more fun. Maybe you do like the Cubby bear
logo old school. I know, I kind of like them
going old school, but it doesn't really seem to be
the way of the Cubs, right now, but I definitely,
you know, I feel like Chicago just doesn't switch things
up a lot. I think they liked their original how
they are, and that's just how it is. Like I
know a lot of other teams play like, play into
(09:28):
it and have a lot of fun. Team might suck,
but at least they have like cool merch, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Like you got to have the good merch when he sucks.
Shout out to the seven line. They kept us, you know,
on that trajectory of still being a fan when the
team sucked looked like the Mets hilariously, And they haven't
pulled this hat out in thirty years, which is mind blowing,
you know. So I was ten the last time they
(09:53):
had a had like this, But all they did was
change the orange button the blue.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
That's what I'm talking about, though, Bro, It's like it's
it's just like little stuff like that where I'm like, like,
I will look at the White Sox too, and I
know it's not the Hall of Fame, but like the
they did team up with the Chicago Bulls because they
do have the same ownership, and they made those red
and black jerseys and they look clean, Bro, and the
and it's like something special, and I think it's really
cool when you start to see like actual change, whereas
with like other organizations, like you said, it's like, oh,
(10:20):
well we've we've seen this jersey before, but this time,
like the patch is a little bit lower, or this
is a different color, and it's kind of like I
kind of want to just go balls of the wall
and just like do something completely authentically you like whoever
the designers are like, you'll disrespect to anybody who works
at Fanatics or anybody that works anywhere. But sometimes I
see some of these hats and I'm like, you guys
really do get paid to do nothing like that's that's
(10:42):
really like you guys sit in a boardroom all off
season and you're like, all right, I've sat here for
the last seven weeks and I think we should just
change the orange to blue.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
And you're like, that's what you That's like.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
I would be if I paid you, Yeah, I would
be hard.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Like the giants they went for the stars, I do
not like theirs. You like them. I like just I
think the script is weird, the ball is weird. It
changes colors, and again, being colorblind, like I could tell
like the g and the s are different color than
the inside. It looks like to me, I don't know,
but it's just you know, for me, that didn't hit,
(11:23):
but then it made me pay attention that, oh wait,
this is like a Hall of Fame thing. I will say,
they hit it out of the park. No pun intended
with the July fourth hats. Dude, I got that baby
blue med hat. I'm rocking it. When I come down
to your town, come up to your town, I should say,
shy town this weekend and or next weekend, I should say.
(11:44):
And dude, those hats were just I mean they were
they were beautiful. There's nothing you could say from the
rope on it to the American flag inside the logo.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
I was gonna ask, how do you feel about the rope?
Because I know that's like something that's kind of like,
not just with baseball hats, but like NBA just had
in general, everybody's kind of going onto this trend about
the rope on the top of the lid. How do
you feel about it? I don't mind it.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah, I don't mind it at all. Like I think
it would be weird if I actually had to play
with it, because I didn't like it. In the fitted
for him. I had to get it as a snapback,
So I don't know if the players would like it,
you know, I'd have to play with it a little
bit more. But I do like that aesthetic, Like I
like change right, I like things changed up. I would
I want to rope on every major League Baseball hat?
(12:31):
Absolutely not, but if it made sense and it paid
homage to something like that'd be dope. Like I wouldn't
mind a traditional hat with like a pink rope for
breast cancer or a blue, you know, blue rope when
we do with Father's Day and for colon cancer and
stuff like that. Like I wouldn't mind changing it up,
but I would say that it has to be done right,
(12:52):
and with this one, it works. With this one, it
definitely works. Just adds a little bit of more you know,
patriotism to uh for for any lack of a better
word or term. But I enjoyed the hat and I
had to go get it, and I was like, yo, dude,
I need this hat. Like it just it's better than
the Father's Day version that came out a couple of
(13:13):
years ago that I also bought that was a power
powder blue, and it just makes me. I enjoy it
because it's still a met hat, but I could blend
in with that Chicago baby blues. You know, No, I
dig it, I dig it for sure, yo.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Man.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
So there's there's a lot going on. Trade deadline, We've
had some moves, you know, everything is clicking on all cylinders.
There's a lot of teams still in it, obviously because
the trade deadline has been moved up to prevent people
from just doing complete fire sales. But you know, there's
there's a lot going on. I want to start with
your Cubs. Then we could talk about other transactions that
(13:48):
have taken place, and then we can end it with
the Mets. But where where do you see your team?
Where are you at? And what what can we expect
from Chicago? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:57):
You know, when when you hear Derek Jeters say on
live television that he sees the Yankees beating the Cubs
in the World Series, it's a good feeling. And I
recently texted Bert that because we were talking about it
when the Cubs and Yankees faced off against each other,
and I was like, yeah, man, even just being in
that conversation of being in the World Series, like this
is a team that hasn't made the playoffs in a
few years, so you know, in the last couple of years,
(14:19):
it's like, right at the end of the season, you know,
we blow it away, and that's kind of just been
you know, this repeated history and the narrative of this
club specifically where it's like, you know, man, like these
group of guys the second half of the year kind
of just fall apart. And some of that's on Craig Council,
some of that's on Sey Suzuki, and that's on everybody
from top to bottom. Definitely danon Swonson. But this year,
(14:40):
man just felt different. The first half of this year,
the addition of Kyle Tucker, it really did just you know,
expand the horizons of everybody else in this lineup from
one to nine. You know, you got guys like Carson
Kelly out here, hitting like Barry Bonds the first month
and a half of the year. PCA who I you know,
you know, I've been huge on PCA. I was there
for his first triple A game in Iowa, drove all
the way down there, covered them with media. Hit a
(15:01):
grand slam in his first game as an Iowa Cub
in the middle of the Moin by the way, which
there's nothing to do in the Moin, but it was
it was a cool experience, nonetheless, But to see him
two and a half years later really come into this guy.
Who I mean, he's having a forty forty season. He's
on paceball right now, He's at twenty seven home runs
over twenty five stolen bases. Like, he's been incredible, lights
(15:21):
out defense. The only thing is the Cubs rotation and
honestly still still that bullpen, because you know, I love
Jed Hoyer. He's a theo Epstein guy. But like he
always pulls some guys out from their couches, he always
pulls some guys out of nowhere of double a triple
A from somewhere that nobody else wanted to tinker with.
First half the year, they're always great, second half they're not.
I do think there's guys out there, a Mason Miller,
(15:44):
Emmanuel class A.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Badard I believe it's not.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Binar from the Pirates is also available as well. From
a reliever standpoint, would definitely want another arm. But the
big line for me with the Cubs is really just
that starting rotation. Man, you have Justin Steele out for
the Mississippi Fastball with Tommy John surgery. Definitely miss his presence.
Jameson Tyone is gonna be out for a little bit longer.
I think he just had some kind of strain, if
(16:09):
I'm not mistaken, But you definitely need another arm man
because guys like Ben Brown, who we got from Philly
just a couple of years ago. For Dave Robertson shout
out Dave Robinson, by the way, and with the Phillies.
But you know, it's it's one of those things where
I want a guy. Just to name a few. Edward Cabrera,
right handed pitcher from the Marrow, just had a three
point forty eight e R this year, seventeen starts. He's
(16:31):
been great and he's under control until twenty twenty the
end of twenty twenty eight, so twenty twenty nine, I
really like that. There's a guy, Adrian Houser. We saw
him the other day for the Chicago White Sox. Not
a huge band, and listen, the Cobs are playing the
Socks today. So I'll say it, kids, dog shit.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
He's just having a really good year.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
He's over thirty years old. This is his last year
of control, so I'm I'm not trying to deal with that.
So Edward Cabrera really is the big name. I know
everybody wants Sandy Alcantra, but I just don't see it
from him. After come back from Tommy John, I don't
think he's gonna be a legitimate move. We'll talk about
the Mets in a little bit, but I think the
Cubs and the Mets and maybe even a couple other
(17:08):
teams will be on the hunt for Mitch Keller from
the Pirates. I think that's a guy through control for
twenty twenty eight. I definitely think he's another guy you
could really go out there and say, hey, man, look
shitty team, bad place to be. But if we can
get him in the right organization, you could definitely have
a really great picture out of him. He has a
fWAR of two point six this year, so like, that's
(17:30):
really cool. It's balling, even though the Pirates are horrible.
So I definitely do I want to see the Cubbies
get some arms. I think the offense is perfect. I
don't want Suarez.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
I gotta make that clear because I see the comments
every day. I don't want a third baseman. I believe
in Shawsey. I think Shawsy's gonna have a Miguel Amaya
twenty twenty four second half caliber season or at PCA
of the second half of last year where he really
kind of started to pick it up, and you're you're
more proud of him. It's interesting saying, though, man to
see like how things are gonna unfold. But uh, I
(18:03):
definitely think it starts with the with the starting rotation
for the Cubs. If not, you know, I think they're
going to be in and out of October very quick.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
M Well, look, I that I got excited either way.
Like one you mentioned theo Epstein, that's the one list
that I wish came out is his list of who
we should be going after. But in all seriousness, dude,
that's spot on. The Cubs should just hire you right now.
I'm just saying, but I'm not.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
You know how many times I was like, we should
sign this guy and then like yet horrible and I'm like,
oh never mind.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Well, you when when the Mets went through all their
trades man and they got rid of ever the house
they cleaned house, you were the only guiding light that
was reassuring me that these guys that they're bringing in
are are rock stars, and I'm absolutely thankful, uh one
for you as a baseball brain, but also my friend,
because I was ready to jump off something.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
I mean, it's probably per like, but we wouldn't be
We wouldn't be doing.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
An episode together if I didn't mention Drew Gilbert right
now too. And the Mets need another bat at the
trade deadline. Kids hit four home runs in his last
three games. He's in triple A for a little bit
of time, like Gilly I need Gilly Goo in a
Mets uniform today. It is electrifying.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
You know what always scares me? And this happens in Metsland.
I want to know if it happens with your team
or any team. But it always feels like our guys
get injured and then they come back around the trade deadline.
So ownership tries to convince you like, no, it's like
we acquired four new players because Sanga's back, you know,
(19:42):
you know, Blah blah Blah's back, whoever it is. We
have Francisco Alvarez back, like and it's like, you know,
Sean Manet is back, and they'll just get and.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
They're like, here's your starter that you're looking for, and
it's like, yeah, we still needed one when he was here,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Yeah, exactly exactly, Like that's that doesn't get me excited.
Like so when the Mets brought in Cesspitis, and they
also brought in you know, a ton of other like
key players like third baseman. I can't remember his name
right now, and that's that's embarrassing. But it was it
was dang, dang, who cares, Let's move on. Uh, it
(20:17):
was just like it felt like the right transactions, right,
and it obviously sparked the rest of the team. David
Wright comes back, uh you know, Daniel Murphy starts hitting
the ball. But Cesspenis was that nucleus that we needed
at that time, and it was a big spend and
uh you know, and I I don't think the Mets
need something like that, but I do think the other
team in New York needs a cesspetist type signing. And
(20:39):
uh so I've been looking around. Uh you know, I
looked at Brian Hayes because uh, that is that is
my daughter's number one favorite player in the world. And yeah, yeah, man,
that's it. That's it.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
She No one, no one can say anything about Peyton
being a bandwagon because that is the most genuine that's
my favorite player I've ever heard.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Yeah, she she checks on she checks up on them
like she she'll as for his stats. She wants to
know when we're going back to Pittsburgh, like that is her, dude,
And I'm not mad at it. Uh, you know, She'll
randomly tell me like he's gonna hit them run today.
I've won three of those four bets, like it's I
(21:23):
tell my daughter, h No, in all seriousness, it's just
you know, she she likes them, and it's, uh, it's
kind of cool because his dad played for the Mets,
and that's that's cool for me. So I'm not mad
at that at all. You know, Mason Miller with the A's,
everybody's talking about him, Everybody wants him, and I think
the funniest thing about the A's is they do have
(21:43):
a lot of young talent, but there are rebuilding and
the Mets have some key things. So I see a
lot of people going looking at these teams thinking they
could just rob them. And you know, even with the Marlins,
that's same case scenario. Like everybody thinks they could just
keep buying play like All Stars from from so look
man like it. There's there's so much going on. But
(22:04):
if if the Yankees what they did, they got McMahon,
which I think is a great addition. I'm not mad
at at all. I'm at Rosario. I loved as a
New York met Uh you know in part of the
lonn Door trade. It was a bummer he had to go.
He's gonna be great, but he could play everywhere. For him,
he's mister utility. He reminds me of a Jeff McNeil
type player. Maybe not doing as well as some would
(22:28):
like the last couple, you know, at least this season,
and a little bit of lass. But I mean for
the Yankees, that's these are these are two really good
transactions so far. Do I think it's enough? Absolutely not,
Like especially with Aaron Judge, as you know, going into
onto the I L. They're saying it's not there from
(22:51):
what I read that his U c L is intact.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
And then there's just other issues obviously, But like when
you hear that a guy can't even make a throw
from the outfield the routine, just like, hey man, let's
just let's just throw the ball around, you know it
reminds me so much of Bryce Harper prior to his
Tommy John surgery, and you know, obviously that ultimately has
made him first basement Bryce Harper. I saw a kid
the other day tweeting that he's one of the best
first basement they've ever seen, and like, still hearing that
(23:14):
Bryce Harper's a first basement, I kind of just like,
it just don't sit.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Right with me.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Man, I'm just like, Bryce Harper's an outfielder, but like whatever,
right right right, the first basement. But like I'm always
like that's I didn't grow up with that.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
That's weird.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Like if Mike Trout was ever just like I'm a
first basement now, I'd be like, no, no, you're you
got to work on brother, like you're you're no, You're
You're captain centerfield every day.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
But yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
The judge situation is interesting. You kind of brought up
the a's I look more of like a Brent Rooker
to be that if they're not interested in a guy
like Jones. Jones has been incredible in Triple A so
far for them. I really think they should give him
the shot. They already have him in Triple A.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
But Brent Rooker, who's thirty.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
You know, I'm really big on Lawrence Butler Nick who
six for six with four home runs the other day. Man,
he was incredible, really hurting the ball, no pun intended,
but he's doing it.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Man.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
And then obviously you have a guy like Jacob Wilson,
who is one of the best young shortstops in the
game right now. So they have a nice young core.
But Brent Rooker being thirty thirty one years old going
into next year, you know, you definitely can say, hey, man,
if the Yankees can give us some top prospects to
continue to build on that, you know, you can definitely
make some moves because like when you look at a
guy like Mason Miller, like the Mason Miller stuff just
(24:26):
doesn't really make sense to me because you look at
his contract and you look at how old the kid is.
He's still super young. He's gonna be under arbitration until
twenty twenty nine. He's unrestricted free agent in twenty thirty. Like, bro,
if I'm the A's and this kid's twenty five and
I have him until twenty thirty, I can wait, like
I'll wait until Like you just keep doing what you're doing,
and we'll try to get the offense around you to
(24:46):
be able to do that. And really, I think they
have that offense now. They really just need to start
in pitching behind it. So a guy like Brent Rooker
to New York could be really interesting in my opinion,
but I think they kind of I mean New York
kind of has that problem, which is a good problem
to have where you have so many outfielders in this system,
and also on the field. You know you have John Carlos,
Stan Cody Bellinger, you know you have all the Aaron Judge,
(25:09):
you got Jones and Triple A. You have a million
different guys in that outfield. I really don't think they
have to go out of their way to get anything.
And if Judge does miss a significant amount of time,
with where they are right now, I mean, Mike, I
might you know, Garrett Coles out for the year, you
still got Marcus Stroman on the bump once every five days.
Like at some point I might just say, you know, man,
we're just gonna play out the season. I wouldn't even
(25:32):
make any moves. I would just see how it all
folds out.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
No, they're like half a dozen games out of out
of first right now, right not doing well, lost the
series to the Phillies. We'll see see how the rubber
game goes as it's going on right now. But the
one thing that I would share is like, yeah, I agree,
Like you scared the living daylights out of me when
you just mentioned Harper and Judge in the same kind
(25:57):
of trajectory. Yeah. I didn't even put that together until
you said that. So now I'm like, oh, no, you know, like.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
I got, I got the fucking I got, I got
the fucking guy in fantasy.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
So like I'm over here, like I traded.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
I traded Chris Sale and Juan Soto back in May
for for Aaron Judge, and now i have Show Hay
and Judge. So I'm like it's over. It's gigs, Like
I'm winning this league. It's it's not even a conversation.
And like when I saw a Judge go down, like
my heart sunk into my ass and I was just like,
oh my god. And I'm literally like it because it
said day to day and I was like, Okay, it's
(26:33):
day to day.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
No one's gonna notice it.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
I'm gonna try to trade them, and I hit up
some people and they were all like, I don't want that,
Tommy John, and I was like, oh no, I'm gonna
cry if I lose them.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yeah, I'm worried. Man, I really do see it. You know.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
I kind of did a video that I'm like, I
kind of did a video back in April kind of
discussing the situation with Justin Steele and everybody just kept
saying it was elbow and themation. He had that problem
back in September and he kind of, you know, babied
it throughout the off season. He didn't last until mid May.
Bro like, and I saw it. The writing was on
(27:10):
the walls. And with Judge, it's kind of the same
thing where it's like, you know, you know you avoided
it with Sean Manaya and I really like it can
be done that you can avoid it. But yeah, it's
just like, are you gonna sit him for four weeks
just so that it happens again? And then now you're
delaying the recovery. You could have been four weeks ahead,
now you're four monks behind. It's it's risky business man.
(27:30):
Me personally, I'd shut him down the rest of the year.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
That's me. But you what do you think, yeah, I mean,
if that's the case, like and like you said, you're
playing with house money right now. They're still in a
wildcard position. Wildcards now matter just as much as winning
your division. So if there's an opportunity, that's definitely conversations
they gotta have. The fan base is not happy with
Cashman right now. So like, honestly, like Cashman's playing the
(27:55):
card's probably a little harder than he should be because
maybe he's worried about his job, or his legacy or
even just maintaining, you know, his position with the Yankees.
I mean, you know, he's just crazy.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Because he just like you know what Mike Powers would
do just to go to the World Series last I know,
I know, I'm worried about my job. We just made
it to the World Series. We lost the Avengers, like
the Bronx.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
The Bronx spurns if it rains, dude, Like you know
what I mean, Like it's just like they can't have
a normal season, they can't have a question mark. Like
the fan base is just so turmoil. It's why I'm
glad I bleed orange and blue, you know, And there
is an alternative in the city, and you know, and
I'm just proud I was brought up in that, you know,
speaking of that orange and blue. The Mets just when
(28:39):
Dos Soto, Baby, I love this transaction. A left hand pitcher,
Jeremy Hefner is is a god amongst pitching coaches. I
loved him as a player, I love him even more
as a pitching coach, like this is the best guy
to get and let Jeremy do his thing. Let Hefner
do his thing and figure him out, you know, I know, uh,
(29:01):
working in Philadelphia, I knew so many writers, journalists, friends
that love Sodo, loved the idea of them would die
on a sword for him, and it just didn't work
out all the time. But to have him, uh you know,
activated with the New York Mets and traded to the
New York Mets' I'm so excited for Dose Soto and uh,
you know, everybody making the jokes like the Mets just
(29:23):
signed Soto, it's like, yeah, no, no crap, that's old news.
Well it's it's new news again, so for sure.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
But so you bring in all of that though, And
I do kind of want to ask you because Sega
has been incredible and I know towards the second half
of last year, you and every other Mets fan. I know,
we're kind of like off the Sanga train where it's like, yo, bro,
you don't you don't want to pitch like in October,
you don't want to be here for us, like and
it kind of like rubbed you guys the wrong way
in a sense.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
He's had a great year so far. Man, are you back.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
On the Senga train? And and in full belief that
come October Sanga's ready.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
I just look like his legs tend to He injures
his legs more than any pitcher I've ever seen in
my life, like honestly. And also those first two innings
are like horrifying, Like it's like he never better nerfy
if he's pitching. I'm just telling you, like because he's
gonna load the bases up before he gets the first out.
Like it just feels like, yeah, I can only relate
(30:17):
it to John Franco when he would close deals, like
close games, he would turn around, uh, load the bases up,
just give you a heart attack, even when he you know,
he has the most saves ever as a Met or whatever,
at least at his time when he you know, retired
but with saying it's that same same type of vibe
where like his stuff is nasty, but it's like he
(30:39):
he struggles to get out, so like he puts people
on base, he does things. But I am the era
is amazing this year. His pitching is amazing. I was
never against him. I was just hurt that I wasn't
getting more.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, it was just like, are you really not gonna
play for us in October kind of thing?
Speaker 1 (30:57):
You know what I mean? Like that, I mean, you guys.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Had a chance to go the World Series last year.
You know, that team was, like you know, Chef always
says as a team of destiny, like they that group
had everything going for them. And for him to just
kind of opt out of that, I think and maybe
not you personally, but I know a lot of people
he rubbed them the wrong way.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Yeah, I mean I was happy to see him play
in Philly for the postseason. I mean, even though he
gave up a shore bomb in the first you know,
and then we ended up winning that game. So he
was very very you know, he missed the first first series,
was activated for the NLDS. He he did his thing.
It was amazing, and I you know, I wasn't mad
(31:34):
at the scenario, but again that first inn and if
you go back and watch it, I mean runners on
first and second, Sharver hits home run. It just felt
like we're not even gonna win a game. And you know,
obviously the Mets took the entire series and only lost one,
took it three to one. Phillies couldn't even take it
to game five. Shout outs to Philadelphia. But you know,
(31:54):
it was you know, for me, Sega is I'm excited,
Like he's a unique pit the ghosts, you know, forkball
is insane, and I just I think he's he's a
fun human being and I want to watch him play.
So if I was upset, and if I portrayed myself upset,
it was just it was fear of missing out on
(32:15):
once in a lifetime opportunity, Like you said, for sure,
Now what do you got to get to get there? Bro?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
That's like because for me, like that's where I'm at.
I'm like it's starting or bust for the me too?
And who are guys that are kind of like on
your radar right now?
Speaker 1 (32:31):
So like it's it's so hard to say because like
it's like, you know, the fan base is so stupid, right,
And I love New York Mets fans and I love
like listening to it. But they call him to w
FA and hey, hey, why can't we get Jacob to
gorom back Rangers on doing that great? It's like, dude,
that stuff's not happening. So I think it's going to
be that White Night, because like I would have never
(32:52):
put Cessamadis on the Mets in twenty fifteen, Like I
would have never bet that in my life. So I
don't want to chink it anything. Man, I told myself,
I wrote a note ready here, do not Jinx, do
not be like I was right, Like, I don't want
to be that guy. I want. I want Stevie Cohen
invested in this team in two ways, one front office right,
(33:14):
getting the right guys, like, you know, our version of
of what the Cubs did, our version of what the
Red Sox did, Getting the right analytical brains, the right
guys in in the thing that will know, Hey, this
guy is a game changer, and I'm gonna let that
happen and kind of sit back as a fan because
I don't want to Jinx. You want to talk about
any other team, I'll jinx the you know what's out
of them. But I do not want to jinx this
(33:36):
New York Mets right now because we need starting pitching.
I don't know where that is. I get a little
fandom there too. You know you mentioned stro I would
love to see Strowman in orange and blue again. I mean,
I know that's not going to happen, but I I'm
a fan of them. You know, I love them. But
it's it's time. It's time, It's time. Yeah, I guess so.
(33:57):
But then you look at like clubs leg who's on
the A's. Uh that was on our team, Batantas Dylan
you know, damn yeah, the starting pitcher that was on
our team last year. Why can't I remember? Oh man,
(34:18):
people are screaming right now. No, no, Sev Severino. Oh
yeahs bro bro, I would love Sev to be on
the Mets. Uh. And look like they sevee got paid
well by the A's. It's it's a good contract both ways. Uh,
you know, but the Mets could absorb that. So the
A's are rebuilding, we got some players. We could definitely
(34:41):
take him like, I would love that, you know. And
we talked about Miller earlier. I don't. I don't mind
that either. But the A and and again, I'm doing
exactly what the fans do. You look at these teams
and you just assume they're all selling, and you know,
for me, it's it's it's not a matter of I
just want to be wowed by the deal like I do.
And you know, so I don't know, but yeah, I
(35:04):
would love to see a reunion in New York with Sevi.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
I definitely could dig it man. And for for Peyton Powers,
I would love Key Brian Hayes to join the organization.
But also I think Suarez is in that conversation too.
He's been able to do an Arizona man. I mean,
he's hitting bombs left and right, you know, not that
baby and Viento's aren't doing their job. But they're not,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Yeah, so everybody everybody in Philadelphia Land was talking about
no Viento is being like that that thorn in their
side for the next ten years. So this is a
sophomore slump. I do not want to see the Mets
trade him because of this, so I do.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Yeah, That's kind of where I'm at with it, though. Bro,
It's like you have a guy like Suarez, like just
because of the situation right now with like the Dodgers
not playing as well the Brewers. Who I mean, hey, look,
I don't know who's a bigger rivalry right now, the
Mets and the Brewers or the Cubs and the Brewers.
You guys really made a made a statement last year
with how you guys finished that off in the playoffs,
which I loved it. You know, Polar Bear Pete did
(36:07):
his thing to send that home. And you know, a
guy like Devin Williams hasn't been the same since. But
you know, it's it's definitely something where I believe in
Viento's because of you like because of it, and also
just MLB the show the kids cracked. But you know,
I think when you bring in Suarez for a year,
because he's not a one year deal, you know he's
gonna yeh at the end of the year, A man,
if you can help us win this.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Year, We've done that. We've done that, Like.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Viano's it's yours every year after this.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
But right now, I shades a hobby by ads if
that happens, Like Schwarrez has thirty six home runs eighty
six RBIs right now he's due first slump, you know
where he could slump in Queens Like I'm I'm so
scared of that. Like honestly, just just off of the
hobby buy ads conversations like you know, and shout out
(36:56):
to the hobby right now in All Star, we didn't
get to talk about that at all. And I'm so
happy for him and all of Detroit right now the
Tigers are on fire and talk about resurrecting your career,
and it couldn't happen to a better ball player, couldn't
happen to a better person. I know how much you
liked Biass. I did enjoy his time here. People will
be look, oh we did the thumbs down movement. It's like, yeah,
you guys were a bunch of assholes, like stop, Like
(37:18):
our fan base was was yeah, like Ron Keith and
Gary in the booth like begging the fan base at
that time to be nice, Like it was just like
the control like writing letters to the fans saying like, hey,
can we be a little bit nicer, like we don't
want to be like the guys in the Bronx, like
you know, and it was just like the fan base
was so turned like you know, and I get it,
(37:39):
the thumbs down thing, it was an inside joke. I
think the press in New York. I know, the press
in New York tends to take make a mountain out
of a mohill and that's what they did there. And
you know, it sucks because, like I imagine Hobby was
still on this team, Like, and I get it took
him a while to get back to where he's at,
but this is so cool. Man. Yeah, I thought it
was over. I really did.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
And and like, yeah, year was his first time back
at Wrigley, and I got the privilege to meet his
mom and his brother because I was doing a partner
up with a T shirt company and we were just
handing out I Miss Hobby or Bias t shirts. I
was walking around the stadium, we were interviewing people like
what's your favorite Hobby or Bias moment? And the city
still like engulfing him. And even when Rizzo came back
(38:20):
to Like I cried when Anthony Rizzo came back, and
like it was like such a huge thing for me
because like I just loved him so much growing up.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Same with Hobby and and KB too.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
When KB came back, Like you get emotional about these guys,
you know what I mean. So, like you when you
see that kind of stuff happened where, you know, especially
like you know, Hobby Bias his career got resurrected, but
Rizzo's currently still looking for a job. You know, you
got Chris Bryant, who you know, signed with Colorado and
was never seen again. And it's just like one of
those things where it's like, you know, not everybody does
get that storybook finished. Not everybody does resurrect their career.
(38:51):
So to see that happen for Hobby and to see
that picture of him and PCA together as both the
starting center fielders in the All Star Game was pretty crazy,
especially because Hobby never in my life, if I ever
seen Hobby play in the outfield prior to being a
Detroit Tiger, that's just and and like, you know, MLB
kind of did, like, you know, we'd be like, oh,
look at this elmgo play.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
Look at this magical play.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
By Hobby in the outfield, and then it would be
like a routine fly ball and I'd be like, I
don't know, but he's hitting that lights out the ball.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Man.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
I'm really happy for him, bro. But yeah, man, that's Hobby.
I know you're sick because PC a man and then
Hobby it's it's.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
No, that was nuts hugging hugging at the All Star Game.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
But when you though Mike, I can't you he's not
an All Star, Mikey, he's not good enough. That's that's
a whole different. That's wild, even Hobby being an All Star.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
I was kind of like, yeah, Clayton was cool though
that miked up situation and him throwing like like he
was thinking out there thirty miles an hour. Yeah, that
was that was so much fun. He's like he's like
check this out, like it was so great and yeah,
go ahead.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
No, that's just me as a Cubs fan that like,
I actually hate Clayton Kershaw everything about him as a person.
It's a he's a great guy, sure, but he he
was that Cubs killer for years. Every time I see
I like, get off my screen.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Bro, Yeah no, I agree, I agree. You know what
did you think of the Like the home Run Derby
was dope? Like, I'm not gonna lie, I love I
could watch that stuff. Shout out to Todd Frazier. Just
the Homeroom Derby X, which I want to sink my
teeth into I just reached out to Home Room Derby
to see if, like, hey, is there there a way
we could help, like elevate this thing or talk to
(40:46):
the players promote it, like because I didn't even know
where to watch it on TV. I don't even know
if you could watch it on TV. But I saw
the highlights on socials. It's pretty dope. They hit from
the third base, literally third base. There's rules, there's it's
a smaller like area where you can hit the ball.
And I think they play defense too. I saw the
guys with gloves. I don't know, but I want to, Yeah,
(41:08):
I want to really find out what the heck is
going on with this. They incorporate softball, female softball players
into it, so they have legends on that side. So
it's yeah, it's a really dope thing. But the All
Star Game ended in a home run, you know, swing
off and what's your feelings?
Speaker 2 (41:23):
I mean, it was really cool, man, And I think again,
like I'm just gonna continue just fan blowing out. But
I did get a chance to work with Schwarber's neighborhood heroes.
Earlier in the year, I worked for Schwarber's Foundation for
a day and I you know, when Philly was in town,
I got a chance to walk around and ask everybody
their favorite Coylee Schwarber moment, Phillies and Cubs fans, and
to just know, like what an amazing human being Kyle
(41:45):
is and just like the type of person he's been.
You know, he got his thousandth career hit the other day,
which I thought was insane to think that it's just
been that long since the catcher in Iowa for the
Chicago Cubs turned into an outfielder. You know, everyone always
judged them for his out fielding. He was a catcher
his entire.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
Like, yeah, yeah, he looks like a catcher.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
I don't want to hear any of it. Like he's
built big, He's a stocky guy, like he lost all
that weight to be in that outfield. And now you
you know, Washington was a shit show, Boston. Boston was okay,
but it was just like to see him finally find
that home in Philly. Man, I really do hope at
the end of the season, man, they give him his Duke,
because I mean, he he has been that Philly staple.
(42:25):
I feel like, you know, Bryce Harper is one of
them too if Bryce Harper does a lot in the
community from what I've heard, but like him and schwarbs Man,
I mean, they're they're incredible people. Never seen a walk
off like that. I missed the game, but I missed
most of the game. But then I get home and
I turn it on and they're they're going into extras
and I'm like, all right, cool, and it turns into
this like, you know, went swing off and I'm like, well.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
Where's Judge? You know, why?
Speaker 2 (42:49):
Why is why is Aronda? Why is Aronda batting? And
they're like, oh, Judges on a plane right now, probably.
Speaker 1 (42:55):
Right, yeah, what do you mean he left?
Speaker 2 (42:57):
Like they're like, oh yeah, these guys are in street
clothes right now where they left. And I'm like in
my head, I was like, I don't care if they're
in street clothes, tell.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
Me ye, get them out, get them out and their
flip flops, like, let's see.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
It would love to see that because it would give
you like this like backyard baseball type of like vibe
to it, which is like shout out back in baseball,
by the way, but.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Oh, dude, so much fun. Shout out to you.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
It was cool, bro, It was a cool swing off, bro,
and I'm not gonna lie to you. I don't think
we see it again for a few years because it
was very hard for that to even be that situation.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
But so true.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
I would just next time. I think every single player
should stay. Every player should be uniformed up in the dugout,
just waiting, because if we would have got like Schwarves
versus Judge and like all these big home run power
bats just going off in a swing off like that
would have like Schwarps hit three home runs in a row,
that's awesome, but Judge would have smacked the dog the
(43:53):
dog out of like thirty of.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
Them, you know what I mean, Like yeah, yeah, yeah,
I would have loved to see that.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Like Aronda, I mean, what's He's a two ninety plus hitter,
like great contact guy, guy has like ten home runs
on the year. Why was he in the swing off?
Speaker 1 (44:07):
You know what? Yeah? Yeah, No. It felt like the
minute you announced the lineups, like I was like, oh,
the annals winning this right, and you know, guys like
me and you were like we won it. Never, Yeah,
we haven't won any if.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
I never All Star Game, the National League always. It's
like in my life I've seen like three or four
times the National League has won.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Yeah, and I think I think that would be an exaggeration,
like honestly, like yeah, I don't even know. I don't
even know. Like it feels like they've won. It's like
the Braves in the nineties, Like they always won the
NL East. So like yeah, and then lost the Yankees
in the World Tiers. But I digress it. Like, dude,
I liked it. I was a little like, you know,
(44:48):
Peter a Lonzo hit a real three run home run
during the game, and like if if if Diaz is
able to close the door and and and save that
impossible situation that they put him in. Uh, if he
was able to do that, you know, Pete's the MVP.
So and then Pete doesn't even get the bad in
the swing off because Schwarbs did his thing. But the
(45:09):
coolest picture that we will have for the rest of
our lives is Pete and schwarb are hugging it out,
and like, this is what scares me. Man Bryce Harper
allegedly or reported that he went hard for Pete this
offseason because of the fact that he wanted to get
back into the outfield. I mean, and Pete's playing a
damn good first base right now. He just saved the
(45:30):
game last night with a jumping line drive catch, which
is insane. You know, he had three great plays that game.
He's been on fire ever since everybody mocked him for
that throw top plate. So like, I think everything happens
for a reason, and clearly right now, Pete's playing a really,
really solid, underrated first base and I'm really proud of him.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
I did want to hit you with one last thing
before we get out of here, though, because I feel,
just like David Wright, that Pete Alonso wants to be
a Met for life. But I feel like there's a
level of it to where it's like you can't get
lowballed twice, you know, And I think this last contract
was like, hey man, you just got to prove it
to us, even though you know, I think many Met
(46:12):
fans would say he did prove a big pay day,
especially in that playoff series, and to only get a
two year deal, it's kind of crazy. Do you see
a world where Pete would accept another, you know, not
lowball offer, but if it's not the best offer on
the table, you think Pete would leave?
Speaker 1 (46:29):
Yeah, I think it gives me shades of like Piazza
with the Dodgers. You want to be a Dodger for
the rest of his life, right. I do think if
the Cohens can make it happen, they will. I think
we're in the best case scenario because of everything that
happened with David Wright and that retirement, and Dude, I
was crying that whole weekend we were going to do
a show. If that was today, I would be buckets
right now, man, like it would just be. It was rough,
(46:50):
and it was great to see, and it was awesome.
Cliff Floyd looks like he could get out there and
play right now. You saw I dm that to him.
I love that man. He's been a great person, just
in a baseball mind. Their interview is so touching. Cliff
killed it interviewing one of his best friends. But it
just goes to show, uh, he's got a new talent.
Speaker 2 (47:11):
Man.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
And you stay at Dingers in New York and Chicago
now and now in Florida, and now he h now
he now he talks that talk man on the MLB Network,
And I love every second of it. But I hope
Pete is a met for life. But those are gonna
come far and few in between nowadays, like having a
lifetime player is going to be something that you'll never forget.
(47:33):
And I'll be very lucky if I get two of
them in my lifetime, you know, So that'd be dope.
And you know, he's he's breaking all the MLB Mets records. Uh,
you know, he's arguably the stats are starting to rack
up to where you could almost start looking at you know,
does this guy go to Cooperstown? You know, like he
could he could get hot, he could get hot. And
I know, like first basement numbers are inflated because the
(47:56):
steroids and most steroid users were at first base. Yuh,
that's smarking wire. But you know, it's it's tough to
really figure out a way that I'm certain until I
get told that. You know, the twelve year deal, there's
some crazy astronomical deal with no opt outs that Peter
A Lonsos here for a long haul. But I'll tell
(48:17):
you what, man, we're not in first place right now
if Pete's not on this team. Yeah, for sure, for sure.
Speaking of first place, we're both in first place. And
that's that's unbelievable. Would have thought, by the hair of
my head brother.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Theres the Brewers for a long time just would not lose, Bro,
they lost. They won eleven straight. If I'm not mistaken, we're.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
Actually we're technically in first, but we're both tied, which.
Speaker 2 (48:41):
Is crazy, Philly one dude at home. The Cubs are
thirty three and nineteen. The Brewers are thirty three and nineteen. Okay,
the Brewers are twenty eight and twenty four. The Cubs
are twenty eight and twenty four. And like their last ten,
the Cubs are six and four. The Brewers are seven
and three. And I'm just like and somehow, some way,
the Reds have won fifty six games, and I'm just
like this, I know, Central, Bro is just it is
(49:02):
just insane, and it's like it's crazy because I feel
like the Cubs have just been kicking ass the entire
way and it's just like Milwaukee just won't go away, man,
And they really are the dark side of just like
you know, they're they're evil, Bro, They're evil, they're magic powers.
They don't have a crazy lineup. They got like they
got a kid who pitched three games in the All
Star Game. Like that's that's nuts. I don't even know Milauchs.
(49:25):
I don't know how, but the kids a monster. The
kids a monster. Don't get it twisted like the Brewers.
The Brewers terrify me.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
Brother. If the Brewers make a serious move of the.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Deadline, maybe they add Suarez, maybe they add a big arm.
They're They're scary, man, they really are.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
It's the same things happening. I ditto everything Mets Phillies
like that. We are living this same exact season so far,
and it's fun, but it is hard fine at the
same time. You know, the Phillies are making Uh, the
other team in New York look like what they are
train wreck right now. But the Mets, they've they've won
six in a row. They're on a West coast trip,
(50:03):
which is not easy to do. It's funny. Like two
months ago, somebody from the Mets fan social team was like,
don't worry, we have no more ten o'clock games, Like bro,
Monday's ninety, Like don't what are we talking about? Yeah,
I got played. I was like, oh, that's so great,
no more ten o'clock games, Like I could deal with
(50:23):
a nine, Like n that's ten o'clock, like you know,
you know it starts at nine forty, but they're not
really going to start the game until and it's a Monday. Yeah,
like right right, So dude, this has been a great
you know, first half. Trade deadline looks like it's gonna
be exciting. I can't wait to hop back on with
you and talk to the final moves.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
You know we got some moves this week. You're going
to start your week at the National for US UH,
making some content, hopefully meeting some amazing uh you know legends,
sports legends. Gary Vee will be there. You know, the
list goes on and on. We just talked about. Uh,
but but yeah, you're gonna start your week there. I
am gonna touchdown for the first time in my life
(51:05):
in your hometown, Chicago. I've never been one time. I'm
not the one time. I'm on unreal, unreal, man, unreal.
I never met you in person yet, I've you've met Bert,
which I you know we both love. But yeah, I
was pretty gutted, But I understand family first, loved ones first, man,
and uh, there'll be more. I I'm sure. I'm sure
(51:26):
this won't be the last taste. And hopefully, if we
do a great job for the National, they'll keep having
us back because you know, you know they I've worked
with them on some events we've had in Philadelphia as
recent as last week at Infinity Live. Uh, they literally
put us in front and center, in front of the stage.
We were interacting with the players, more importantly the fans,
and it was it was a great night. I would love.
(51:48):
I can't wait for what's gonna happen this week and
uh yeah, so please please follow the Shy Kid on
all socials, whether it's TikTok, you know, Instagram, Facebook, you
name it. Mike Hughes out putting out great Chicago style
content and yeah, you're gonna see more of it at
the National, follow the Divide Live and you know I'll
(52:08):
be sure to share. Uh you know what I'm able
to do at at this amazing event. Again, Mikey's gonna
be there the first two days. I come in August
first through the third. Uh, and uh yeah, we're gonna
be rocking it out at the National. Gary Vee is
gonna be there. That's just crazy and gilding. Guys, what
were we talking about earlier?
Speaker 2 (52:28):
I was like, you know, man, at the Cubs, do
make a crazy move or the Mets that and you're
on air and I'm in Florida, You'll definitely get a
FaceTime call from the beach and I'll.
Speaker 1 (52:36):
Just oh without being at a beach scaring kids, like look, man,
you know how quick these stream yard links could go out? Well,
I'll have you right on. We'll yeahs, it's over. The
season's over. Yeah, I'm worried. I'm playing baseball for the
first time probably and almost since I had Peyton. No,
(53:01):
she was like two when I stopped playing, so it's
been like at least seven years. But Gearhard's Appliances is
doing a charity baseball game and we have Team I
Heart so Wednesday, the best first baseman, defensive first baseman
ever lived. We'll be taking that hot corner again. So
I'm excited for it. Man, I can't wait. But it's
also trade deadline day, so I'm like, I'm gonna be
(53:23):
checking my phone in between innings and whenever my team's
not playing. So it's gonna be an epic day for charity.
We got other charity events coming through, so please make
sure you're tuning in, checking in, you know, and I'll
give us a shot network wherever socials are and YouTube.
But Mikey. I love you, man, I appreciate you. Uh,
there's gonna be more of these, you know. I finally
(53:44):
got this thing figured out over here. They're still working
on the soundproof and stuff like that, but at least
I got my little desk going. So yeah, broken clock
is right at least one time once a day, but
not this one. All right, everybody, have a great night,
and let's go. Mets. I thought you were gonna say, go,
(54:10):
Cub
