To say that addiction affects many lives is a gross understatement. This is a topic near and dear to our hearts as it has affected our lives in many ways.
We hope this show can shed some light on addiction—a disease that is often misunderstood. Today’s guest is Dr. Robb Kelly, world renowned addiction expert, founder of the Robb Kelly Recovery Group and the author of Daddy, Daddy, Please Stop Drinking which chronicles the story of his personal fight from homeless alcoholic to doing his purpose work and living the life of his dreams.
There are many experts on addiction out there, but we wanted to talk with Dr. Kelly, because he’s very transparent with his own struggles with addiction. He understands it from every angle. His program has a 97% success rate, which is unheard of. He's also incredibly kind and generous.
Dr. Kelly was born in Manchester, England into a family with a history of alcoholism. He eventually became an alcoholic as well. But despite that, he managed to complete his Doctorate studies, graduating with a PhD in psychology in 1984.
Soon after, because of his heavy drinking, he ended up homeless and alone. And one day, after paying for his vodka at the liquor store, he had an epiphany... and that changed everything.
In this episode we talk to Dr. Kelly about what happened that fateful night, a mysterious stranger named John, the day he lost his children, shame, and of course, his philosophy on recovery.
This episode brought all three of us to tears. Join us for this powerful episode.
