Speaker 00 (00:00):
Hello, hello.
Welcome to the Dona WatsonShow.
I'm your host, Dona Watson.
How do we differentiate betweendivine guidance and artificial
intelligence in our daily lives?
As a follower of Christ, it'sextremely important to me to
(00:24):
live my life in a way where Iknow I'm relying on the Holy
Spirit for my daily decisions inmy daily walk.
And as AI has become such anincredible useful tool for so
many in our society, it'severywhere, from our computers
to our phones to...
(00:45):
they're putting it inrefrigerators.
They're putting it in so manydifferent things.
And AI has been incorporatedinto so many aspects of our
society.
And I know that there's agrowing reliance on AI in our
daily lives.
Sometimes we don't even realizeit's a factor.
(01:07):
I'm also seeing a lot of peoplehaving questions about how
Christians should respond tothis trend.
Like it or not, love it or hateit, I think AI is here to stay.
And it's extremely importantthat we figure out now, as
(01:33):
Christians, we figure out now, before we head down a slippery
slope that's too difficult toclimb back up, how do we follow
the voice of the Holy Spirit inour lives and make sure that
that is the voice of God, thevoice of the Holy Spirit as the
triune Godhead.
(01:55):
For an example, we can look atthe creation of this video that
you're watching right now.
There are some amazing modernAI tools out there that I've
recently found where I couldcreate an amazing script for the
video, complete with the hook, the conclusion, the prompt, the
(02:15):
body, everything that I need.
And it would be full ofscripture references.
And it can even write a prayerfor me at the end.
And it's a good script.
It's like, there's nothing init that I would disagree with.
As I'm looking at this and I'mplaying with these tools to see
how they can make my work gosmoother and faster, I felt a
(02:40):
check inside.
And I heard God say, "Are yousure about this?" Whenever I
hear that check, I know thatthat's the voice of the Holy
Spirit.
And when I listen to it, He isfaithful to continue to check me
when I need to be checked.
And so I said, "Okay.
Okay, God, what is it?
(03:02):
What do you want to tell me?"And I spent some time in prayer
about it.
And I felt God redirect me awayfrom some of these uses of AI.
God said, "Seek me first andsay the words that I will give
you.
Speak on the topic that I willgive you because there's going
(03:25):
to be somebody out there who islooking for this answer and they
need to hear this right now.
And AI doesn't know what thatis.
Let me direct you."And so I said, "Okay." There is
no replacing the voice of theHoly Spirit in our lives.
That is a direction that onlyGod can give us.
(03:45):
AI will only give us theinformation that comes out of
the prompt that we feed it.
God is faithful to give us whatwe need when we need it, even
when we don't know we need it.
That is one of the beauties ofthis.
So let's talk about this.
(04:08):
As Christians, we are called towalk in the flow of the Holy
Spirit.
And it is so important thatwhen we're walking with God,
guys, it gets to be easy.
And this is where AI becomessuch a tempting tool.
It makes life easy.
Satan creates counterfeits.
(04:30):
But Jesus is the one whosaid...
"Come to me, all of you who areweary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you.
Let me teach you, because I'mhumble and gentle at heart, and
you will find rest for yoursouls.
For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is
(04:54):
light." That's Matthew 11:28 to30.
God has promised that when wewalk with him, when we put our
burdens on him and we rely onhim, guys, it gets to be easy.
AI promises us it'll be easy,it'll be fast, but it's not the
(05:17):
voice of the Spirit.
There is no replacing thatdivine guidance, that divine
element that knows more than AI.
I cannot stress that enough.
When we rely on God, yeah, westill have challenges, but we
(05:39):
get to navigate those challengeswith ease and with a lightness
of heart that is only possiblewhen we walk in the flow of the
Holy Spirit.
There's a lot of talk these daysabout walking in flow.
And to me, walking in flow iswalking hand in hand with the
Holy Spirit as he flows throughmy life and carries me through
(06:03):
easily to the things that I needto get through.
That is flow.
That is divine flow.
That is walking in divine flow.
If we're struggling, it justmeans that something's out of
balance and we need to spendtime with God and figure out
(06:23):
what that is so that we can walkeasy in the flow of the spirit.
I'm a fantasy writer.
If you've followed me for anynumber of time, you know that,
and a reader.
I love fantasy fiction.
People have asked me why?
Why fantasy?
(06:44):
And the best answer I can giveis because sometimes fantasy
fiction seems more real than thereal world.
Our world has relied so much onscience that it has told us if
you can't see it and touch it,it's not real.
But that's not what my Biblesays.
(07:05):
My Bible says what's unseen iswhat's real.
Sometimes in fantasy fiction, that's taken more literal than
it is here in our world today.
2 Corinthians 4:18says, "So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."
How does that have anything todo with this argument, with this
(07:37):
topic?
It's all about walking in theflow of the Spirit and allowing
the Spirit to guide our livesrather than technology.
This is so important, guys.
I cannot stress this enough.
Eternity is more lasting thanthis temporary world.
Everything that you can see andtouch is temporary.
(08:01):
It's not going to last.
It could burn up.
It could wash away.
It's not gonna last.
What's gonna last is what youcannot see, your soul.
The spirit world, the angelicrealm, the Spirit of God, the
(08:21):
Holy Spirit, the risen JesusChrist, those are eternal.
Those are the things that willlast forever.
And when we fix our gaze onthose eternal things, it guides
our steps.
so it's easier to walk in theflow of the Spirit and to allow
(08:43):
the Spirit to guide our livesand our directions.
So how do we find that flow ofthe Holy Spirit?
This has really been a focus ofmine this year.
I've been pressing in hard tofind ways to walk in the flow of
the Holy Spirit because Godsaid it gets to be easy, right?
and i said, "Okay, Lord, yousaid it gets to be easy.
(09:06):
Why isn't this easy?"He says, "Well, what's
unbalanced in your life?
What haven't you given me?"Hmm.
Okay.
So I give those things to theLord and it gets a little bit
easier.
For me, over the course of thisyear in particular, I've been
able to break this down intofour words: awareness,
(09:30):
surrender, prayer, and Bible.
First of all, we need to becomeaware of our need for God in our
lives.
And when we become aware of ourneed for God, we become aware
of our shortcomings.
And that causes us to reach outto God.
(09:51):
And when we reach out to God,it causes us to surrender to God
who we are, what we have, everything in our lives.
The more we give him, the morewe get back.
And when we surrendereverything to God, we fall in
love with him.
And we want to spend more timewith him because he's a good
father.
(10:11):
And he fills us with this joyand peace that the world just
can't give us.
And that makes us want to spendtime with him by talking to
him, which is prayer.
Prayer is just talking to God.
And by reading his word.
His word is like...
the strategic guidebook that hehas given us to help us govern
(10:37):
our life on this world.
When we call out to God, when wepray to him, he always answers
us.
He is so faithful to answer us.
And when we hear the voice ofGod more, then we respond and we
(10:58):
can walk in the Spirit moreeasily when we hear him more.
Make sense?
Galatians 5 talks a lot aboutwalking in the Spirit.
When we walk in the Spirit, weplace our trust in Christ Jesus.
We trust Him with everything,guys.
I used to work with a ladyyears and years ago, and she
(11:20):
heard me saying about somethingI was praying about.
It was a tiny little thing.
I don't even remember what itwas.
She turned to me with this bigscowl on her face, and she said,
"You don't think God caresabout that, do you?" And i said,
"Oh yes, i do! i believe hecares very deeply about every
(11:41):
little thing in my life.
He is my good father.." Whatgood father does not care about
the things that bother theirchildren?
Of course he cares and he wantsto help me through that and she
just had such a hard timecomprehending that concept.
To her, God was just this bighuge thing that kept the sun and
(12:03):
the moon going around and onlylooked at the big things in
life.
But that is the beauty of God.
He does the big things and hedoes the little things.
He cares about the littlethings in your life.
So how do you know if you'rewalking in the Spirit?
Well, let's continue inGalatians 5 here.
(12:24):
In verse 16 it says, "So I say,let the Holy Spirit guide your
lives, and then you won't bedoing what your sinful nature
craves." If you're able to walkaway from your sinful nature
cravings, that is one way youknow that you're following the
(12:46):
Holy Spirit.
You're following the HolySpirit flow in your life.
Let's read on.
Galatians 5 (12:53):
22 and 23 says,
"But the Holy Spirit produces
this kind of fruit in our lives:
love, joy, peace, patience, (12:58):
undefined
kindness, goodness,faithfulness, gentleness, and
self-control.
There is no law against thesethings." Let's read on a couple
(13:19):
more verses.
Itsays, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.”
When we follow these guidelines in order to live our life, that's how we find the flow of
(13:51):
the Holy Spirit in our lives.
That's how we walk according togodly principles.
Matthew 7:16 tells us that wecan identify followers of Jesus
Christ by their fruit.
Apples come from apple trees.
Pear trees produce pears.
(14:12):
Followers of Christ producegodly traits in their lives.
That's their fruit.
Those nine fruits of thespirit: love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness,faithfulness, gentleness, and
(14:34):
self-control.
Do you see that in your lifetoday?
That's one way you can knowthat you're walking in the
spirit.
Why is this important?
Can't we just live our livesand go about our lives and do
our things?
(14:54):
Why?
Why do we care?
We care because this is how Goddesigned us.
God created us with thisGod-sized hole in our lives.
Satan perverts whatever God hascreated.
(15:15):
And Satan knows, the enemyknows, you have a God-sized hole
in your life.
And he'll try to fill it withanything but God.
The world will tell us (15:24):
"self
first." God says, "Spirit first.
You put me first."You fill that God-sized hole
with God.
And he'll take care of allthese other things.
This is how we findfulfillment.
(15:45):
This is how we find purpose andhow we can find the strength to
complete our assignments onthis earth.
In this era of artificialintelligence, it is so important
that we learn to exercise ourspiritual muscle of discernment.
God knows your past and yourfuture, and he knows what's best
(16:09):
for you.
And he will reveal to youthrough the Holy Spirit as an
inner knowing when you ask him.
AI can't do that.
When you spend time in prayer,God will answer you.
Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call to meand I will answer you and tell
(16:31):
you great and unsearchablethings you do not know." With
AI, you have to know how towrite a good prompt.
Without a good prompt, you'renot gonna get good results.
With God, he knows us waybetter than AI and we can just
appeal.
We can say, "God, I don't knowwhat I don't know.
(16:52):
Please help me figure this out.
Guide me with your Holy Spiritand tell me what I need to
know." And he is faithful to dothat.
He can fill those gaps and tellus what we need to know.
With AI, you have to know how towrite a good prompt, right?
But sometimes you still can gettoo much information and then
(17:16):
you've got to sort through it tofind the core of what you need
and not get distracted onto someother tangent.
But see, God already knows whatyou need.
He knows what you need waybetter than AI does.
And when we rely on him, itbecomes easier and sometimes
even quicker because God can cutthrough all that detritus.
(17:38):
He can cut through all theextra stuff and give us just
what we need right in thatmoment, right at that time.
So who is more powerful?
God or artificial intelligence?
The divine or the digital?
I think you know the answer tothat.
There is nothing more powerfulthan God, and he knows you far
(18:04):
better than any other person orbeing on this earth.
In conclusion, I want to mentiona story that I recently heard.
I've been following the musicalartist Forrest Frank, and he
hit the news lately with astory.
About three weeks ago from thetime I'm filming this video, he
(18:28):
was getting ready to go out on amusical tour and he fell in his
driveway and broke his back.
X-rays proved he definitely hadhis back fractured in more than
one place.
He was in excruciating pain.
But God had instructed him toinvest in certain technology
(18:50):
that he had at his house and hewas thinking, "This was the hand
of God." He felt led tocontinue his work, even as he
was laying in bed, housebound, unable to go on tour, he could
still create music.
And during the first two weeksthat he was laid up and in pain,
(19:12):
he produced and wrote withcollaborators or by himself, two
hit songs, two songs that hitthe top of the charts.
One was "God's Got My Back." Ilove that.
And the other was "Lemonade."Life gives us the bitter and the
(19:36):
sweet, and Jesus makes lemonadeout of it.
He turns all things for ourgood.
And Forrest is thinking, "Oh mygoodness, God, what is
happening?
This is so amazing.
You're continuing to work." Andhe was praising God over this
message that was being reachedby so many people.
(19:57):
Lo and behold, there were alsoa lot of people praying for
Forrest.
And about two weeks after hisaccident, God miraculously
healed him.
He had no more pain.
He went down and had x-rays.
There was no sign of fractureanywhere in his back.
(20:18):
It was a miraculous healing.
Praise God.
You can go to his Instagramfeed and find the whole story
there.
He's put it on his feed.
To God's glory.
One of his songs says, "YourWay's Better." Your way is
better.
We can search until our headhurts but only in the end do we
(20:43):
find out that God's way isbetter.
God tells us, "This is the way, walk in it." Isaiah 30:21 says,
"Your ears shall hear a wordbehind you saying, 'This is the
way, walk in it,' whenever youturn to the right hand or
(21:05):
whenever you turn to the left."God is faithful.
When we ask him for answers, hewill give them to us.
So I challenge you, when you'relooking for answers, don't run
to ChatGPT.
Don't run to Claude.
Don't run to AI.
(21:27):
Consider asking God first.
God's more than a firefighter.
He's not there only when youhave a problem that needs to be
solved.
He wants to walk with you everyday.
He wants you to walk in theflow of the Holy Spirit.
(21:47):
He wants to make it easy.
Life will still havechallenges.
Things will still break.
But when we walk in the flow ofthe Holy Spirit, we get to
navigate those way easier thanif we were relying on our own
strength or on technology.
I'd love to hear how God hasmoved in your life and any
(22:11):
experiences that you might havehad where you heard the voice of
God and what happened next.
As you share your commentsabout how the Holy Spirit has
guided you, it will encourageothers.
And you would get to be ablessing to other people.
So drop your stories in thecomments, guys.
(22:35):
I want to hear.
I want to hear how God's movingin our lives and how he's been
faithful to you.
Until next time, walk with God.
Find the flow of the Spirit.
He loves you so much.
Talk to you later.
