Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, everybody.
Welcome to the Dona Watson Show.
I'm your host, Dona Watson.
I'm just an average AmericanPatriot who loves God, her
family, her country.
I try really hard to listen toGod's voice.
Sometimes I write stuff.
Come with me, together let'sexplore this crazy experience we
(00:24):
call life.
Welcome to the show.
(00:32):
Hello, hello, everybody!
Welcome to Episode 32
a Promise! In the area ofSouthern California, where I
used to live, one of the worstdisasters that one could
experience is wildfires.
I've seen fires there racethrough neighborhoods and wipe
(00:55):
out house after house, just puredevastation.
Here in middle Tennessee, whereI now live.
One of the more common naturaldisasters is flooding.
During the wettest seasons, theground can become so saturated
that the water just simply hasnowhere to go.
(01:16):
There's so much water here.
I admit because there is thatseasonal creek behind my house,
here on my property, I thoughtlong and hard before I bought
this parcel.
I considered the possibilitiesthat could occur if the creek
should overflow.
(01:37):
But I also prayed about it a lotand I felt God's direction to go
ahead, everything was gonna beokay.
I just had that peace in myspirit that everything was gonna
be okay.
This is for the good.
Then one day I was reading Psalm29.
(02:02):
I found two verses highlightedin my Bible.
I had highlighted them at leasta year before, long before I
found this property, Psalm 29verses 10 and 11, read:"The Lord
sits enthroned over the flood;the Lord sits enthroned, King
(02:23):
forever.
The Lord gives his peoplestrength; The Lord blesses his
people with peace." And when Iread those verses, I had to
smile.
Nothing happens on this worldwithout God's permission.
Did you know that?
God doesn't just see the flood.
(02:44):
He is enthroned over the floodas King.
Some people can get hung up inthis life when bad things
happen.
They blame God or chaos or theuniverse or the enemy.
And they become angry at Godsometimes and they say,"Why do
(03:08):
bad things happen to goodpeople?" That's a really good
question.
And to be honest with you, it'sone that I had to work through
when I lost my darling husbandto cancer.
People ask me,"How did you getthrough that?" Well, for one
thing, I'm not sure if I'll everreach the other side of grief.
(03:30):
It still hurts so bad when Ithink of how I miss my best
friend and my lover.
We had a love for the ages.
It was amazing.
And I miss him so much, but Iknow that my God is the God of
the flood.
(03:50):
He carries us through the floodsand the fires or whatever comes
our way.
You see, we live in a brokenworld and bad things do happen.
And I may not know why, but I doknow that my God is bigger than
anything that this life canthrow at me.
(04:13):
He is bigger than any flood.
He is more powerful than anywildfire.
He sees a much bigger picturethan I do.
His view transcends my personalproblems.
His view transcends even timeand space.
And I trust him to take care ofme, no matter what.
(04:37):
When I was buried very deeply inmy grief.
I stood on this scripture, Psalm29:11,"The Lord gives his people
strength; the Lord blesses hispeople with peace." I don't know
how, but I know it to be true.
(04:58):
I just keep my eyes on him, knowing he sees my pain.
And that somehow that miracle ofpeace will come into my life.
As a child of God, the LordAlmighty has promised me
strength and peace.
And when I focus on that truth, when I hold onto that promise, I
(05:24):
have seen it unfold in my life.
And I know it will again.
It doesn't mean we'll never havehardship in this life.
Bad things happen.
Just expect it.
But if we stay close to God, weknow that when those hard times
(05:45):
come, we can have peace andstrength through it all.
Thank you, Lord.
That's all I have for you guystoday.
I love you so much.
Have a good day.
Bye bye.
