Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, everybody.
Welcome to the Dona Watson Show.
I'm your host, Dona Watson.
I'm just an average AmericanPatriot who loves God, her
family, her country.
I try really hard to listen toGod's voice.
Sometimes I write stuff.
Come with me, together let'sexplore this crazy experience we
(00:24):
call life.
Welcome to the show.
(00:32):
Hello, hello, everybody.
Welcome to podcast number 28:
"What's your focus?" You know, (00:34):
undefined
when it comes to life, we have alot of choices available to us.
Because some choices come easierto us than others we might
(00:54):
sometimes feel as though we haveno options available., Kind of,
you know that we're forced to doone thing or another, but for
most of us, that's simply nottrue.
We choose what we want to focuson in this life.
Solomon said in Proverbs 23:17,"Don't let your heart envy
(01:21):
sinners; instead, always fearthe Lord.
For then you will have a futureand your hope will not be
dashed."
Speaker 1 (01:33):
What Solomon is
saying here is that passion is a
choice.
We can choose to focus on othersand what they have achieved or
what they have done.
Or we can choose to focus on Godand his purposes for us and what
he has done for us.
Comparing ourselves to others isa deadly trap that tempts us to
(01:57):
want what someone else has, toenvy them.
And when we focus on others, ittakes our focus away from God.
You know, envy doesn't justhappen.
It comes from choosing to lookat someone else, to compare
ourselves to them, and to desiremore than we have so that we can
(02:21):
look better in other people'seyes.
Instead, I'd like to encourageus to choose a better path.
When we focus on God, our gazeand attention turns from those
around us and allows us to focuson his goodness to us.
(02:43):
When we look, truly meditate onGod, we see evidence of him all
around us.
We see his majesty evidenced increation.
We see the beauty of theecosystems he's created in
nature.
We see his handiwork in everyperson around us, each one
(03:05):
created in God's image--even theones you don't like.
And when we worship God andalign our hearts with his, we
begin to realize the mystery ofknowing and following Christ.
When we value God's purposesmore than we value getting ahead
(03:27):
of our neighbor, we begin tocare more about people's souls
than about what we wear or whatcar we drive.
(03:36):
Choosing to focus on God is
not for the faint of heart.
It's not always easy.
For me, it requires a fresh lookevery single morning.
As I set aside time to look atGod and, and ask him,"what do
you want me...well, what do youwant to say to me today?" And
(03:59):
then I have to be quiet andlisten, to read the Bible and
let him guide my thoughts.
As we build good daily habits, our focus becomes refined and
focusing on God is the result ofhabit.
(04:20):
So today, instead of looking atothers and the riches of the
world, I'd like to encourage usto focus on God.
Open your heart to him and lethim guide you.
Let him fill you with hisriches, his wisdom, and his
grace.
And as we do that, everythingelse falls into place--because
(04:44):
he is in control.
Someone needs to hearthis...with, or without us, God
is in control.
Let's focus on his plan for usrather than our plan.
In my experience, his plan isoften better than mine anyways.
(05:08):
It always works out better inthe end.
That's all I have for today,guys.
I love you.
Remember, God loves you too.
Have a good day.
Bye!
