(00:03):
Hello, everybody.
Welcome to the Dona Watson Show.
I'm your host, Dona Watson.
I'm just an average AmericanPatriot who loves God, her
family, her country.
I try really hard to listen toGod's voice.
Sometimes I write stuff.
Come with me, together let'sexplore this crazy experience we
(00:24):
call life.
Welcome to the show.
Hello, hello, everybody.
Welcome to Episode 33:"Who hasyour attention?
Or Fear-mongers v ersus the Lordof armies." I got something a
(00:48):
little bit different for youtoday.
I wanna talk a little bit aboutfear.
Now, I'm typically not one towatch the news regularly.
That's because I'm a writer andknow one of the favorite adages
of newsroom producers (01:05):
If it
bleeds, it leads.
News producers are typically toowell tuned in to our sense of
morbid curiosity.
They know that bad news sells.
I know myself well enough toknow that when it comes to
negativity, I sure don't needany encouragement.
(01:28):
I can easily become discouragedor even depressed all by myself.
I don't need any help to nudgeme in that direction.
That's why I decided long agothat I needed to stop watching
the evening news.
I figured that if it's trulyimportant, it will filter down
(01:50):
to me somehow.
That said, with all thedevelopments of the last couple
years, I thought it wouldn'thurt to find one or two trusted
sources to follow, which I havedone.
And I just simply checkheadlines once a day, if that.
(02:11):
Even then, by the time theso-called news reaches me, the
consumer, it's already gonethrough so many filters that I
take it with a grain of salt.
I know that there are many inmedia who wouldn't bat an eye to
swing our opinions, to matchtheir own.
Truth be told, I don't reallytrust anyone in the news
(02:34):
industry.
Journalism's not what it used tobe.
And even conservatives can bemistaken.
So when we hear about protestsand wars, the first thing I do
is look at who is supporting orprotesting and what do they
support or protest.
(02:55):
And when looking at things inthis way, sometimes things
suddenly become much more clearto me.
If I see politicians who workhard to ignore election fraud a
nd basic human rights, then Iknow I need to look carefully at
their motives before I supportanything they say, whether
(03:17):
national or international i nnature.
I've become convinced that thereare some politicians who want us
to be in war for war's sake.
And the issues facing us arerarely what they appear to be as
presented to us by the media andthe politicians.
That was a little bit of a bunnytrail.
(03:38):
We'll get back on track here.
Instead, these days, I findmyself praying about everything
before jumping to conclusions,or at least that's what I try to
do.
Um, not perfect! But I know thatmy God is the God of truth.
(03:59):
And I firmly believe that whenwe pray and seek the truth, that
it will be revealed to us.
So when you hear a negative newsreport, I'd like to encourage
you to not immediately becomedistressed and fearful.
Know that the fear-mongers arenot the ones in control of this
(04:22):
world.
One of my favorite names of Godthat is found in the Bible is
the Lord of Armies.
My daily Bible is the ChristianStandard Bible, which uses this
title often in its translationfrom the original Hebrew.
Speaking of this God, we find inPsalm 46, verses 6 and 7:
(04:50):
"Nations rage, kingdoms topple;the earth melts when he lifts
his voice.
The Lord of Armies is with us;the God of Jacob is our
stronghold." Did you catch that?
It doesn't matter how thenations rage at each other.
(05:13):
It's gonna happen and kingdomswill fall.
But through it all, the Lord ofArmies has our back.
He is our stronghold.
He is with us.
In verse 10 of Psalm 46 we findthis:"Stop your fighting, and
(05:36):
know that I am God, exaltedamong the nations, exalted on
the earth." I also know that Godis a God of justice and that in
the end, those who have soughtto wreak havoc in this world
will have to answer for theblood on their hands.
(05:58):
Given that, and knowing thatjustice will prevail in the end,
when I hear disturbing news fromthe media, it has become much
easier to refocus my gaze on theLord of Armies and ask him, what
does he think of that?
I know he is my stronghold, nomatter what might come my way,
(06:24):
Please, please don't ever forgetthat.
If you've gotten nothing elsefrom my ramblings today, hear
this (06:31):
Psalm 46:7,"The Lord of
Armies is with us; the God of
Jacob is our stronghold." Restin him, be strong, and don't be
swayed by the fear-mongers whowould have you cower helplessly
(06:53):
in place.
Realize that there is strengthin your local communities,
support your local smallbusinesses and build a strong
network around you of family andfriends.
I really am convinced that ourticket back to a healthy society
(07:14):
lies there.
I know this was a little bitdifferent today.
Um, but it's what was on myheart.
It's what I wanted to share withyou guys.
Don't be afraid.
Don't listen to those who spinlies and try to make us cower in
fear and helplessness.
(07:37):
You are stronger than you thinkyou are, and God is in control.
That's all I have for today.
Love you guys.
Bye.
