everything about North LincolnCounty.

hosted by the voice of LincolnCity, Roger Robertson.
RR (00:30):
Welcome to the Double R
Show.
We're going to have some gueststhat we've had before and some
new voices joining us for thefirst time at a Double R Show
today.
Son Paul (00:39):
Yeah, so Christina
Pasca with Tea with Teeny.
She actually has been on theshow once before.
She talked about theexplorations that she does for
the Cascade AdvisoryCollaborative.
But she's going to be talkingabout her own project, Tea with
Teeny.
And then we've got Jay Cox, whowe've had on before, talking
about, in this case, some of theconspiracies around the JFK
(01:00):
assassination.
And then the newest voice andthe new voice that we have is we
have Tiffany.
From Les Schwab Dyer Centerright here in Lincoln City.
Yeah, talking about a turkeydrop.
Now, I was saying, and WKRP inTurkey when I thought of this
one.
RR (01:13):
That's why you paused.
As God is my witness, I didn'tknow turkeys couldn't fly.
That coming up right afterthis.

RR (01:52):
Christina Pasca joins us
again, and we've had an
opportunity to talk to thisyoung lady about the Cascade
Head Biosphere Explorience thatshe works on.
But you also write a blog onwellness.
Christina Pasca (02:05):
Yeah, I do.
RR (02:06):
What's the correlation?
Christina Pasca (02:07):
Yeah, so the
blog is called Tea with Teenie,
and there
RR (02:11):
is...
Tea with Teenie?
Christina Pasca (02:12):
Tea with
Teenie.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
So my full name's Christina, but everyone that knows and
loves me has always called meTeenie since I was Teenie.
So that's kind of...
How the name started, but it'sa podcast and a blog.
I'm all over social media andit's really an informational
source to go to when you need tofeel a little bit better in
(02:32):
your day and also, you know, work on your connection to
nature.
RR (02:36):
What are you going to be
offering to me to help me feel a
little better in my day?
Christina Pasca (02:40):
Yeah.
So I do a ton of seasonalwellness guides and rituals.
So if there is a full moon, anew moon, you know, any of the
like solar equinoxes andsolstices, we will talk about
that.
talk about practical tips foryou to feel a little bit better,
you know, mind, body, and soul.
And it really spurred fromliving in the city originally.
That is not always taught.
(03:02):
And it's really just aboutcoming back to self and
understanding our own value andworth as it relates to Mother
Nature, which we live in.
RR (03:10):
Now, living in the city,
you've lived in some big cities.
Now you're living here on theOregon coast.
Christina Pasca (03:16):
Yeah, yeah.
So I grew up outside of NewYork City on Long Island.
That's a big city.
And then I moved to a smallercity, but still big Tampa,
Florida.
And in both of those areas, Ialways had that connection to
even just the sky or the moon ifI went on a walk or something
like that.
And Tea with Teenie is reallyabout expanding upon that.
(03:38):
I've had the privilege to beable to move out into more of a
wide open space, but noteverybody gets that.
And so that's really the goalis it's accessible, easy ways
for you to feel a little bitmore in tune with the sun and
the moon and the stars in
RR (03:54):
the ground below us.
The example of that would bewhat?
Christina Pasca (03:57):
Yeah.
So, I mean, we just had a fullmoon and it was a full moon in
Libra and it was all aboutreconnecting with the self
through, I actually had a tearecipe.
So I have a ton of differentrecipes.
I do a bunch of teas, a lot ofherbalism included as well.
But I had a tea recipe, somejournal prompts.
We talked about ways that youcan really make the most of the
(04:18):
day, even if you have 15minutes, you know, after work.
And so that's, it's really justeasy, free guides for you.
And I want it to be somethingfor people to look to, to feel
inspired and not overwhelmed.
RR (04:31):
Several times you mentioned
we, we, we have done this.
Who's the we?
Christina Pasca (04:36):
You know, I say
we because the community right
now is, I have 125,000 peoplethat
Speaker 04 (04:43):
are
Christina Pasca (04:43):
tuned in.
Yes.
So I say we because it reallyis a lot of a conversation
between these people and itreally is a community and it's
not so much just me putting outyou know it's like we all get
different ideas from each otherin the Tea with Teeny community
but it is ran and founded by me.
RR (05:00):
125,000 that's rather
significant.
Christina Pasca (05:04):
Yeah yeah it
really is I've been working on
it for about four years now andI think it really just came down
to a lot of people were feelingthe same way in terms of you
know I think when we're a kidit's so easy to understand our
place and like what's below usright and really feel feel the
grass and like talk to the treesand climb a tree and play
(05:25):
outside.
It's easy to play outsidebefore dinner and then we become
adults and we forget that.
So it's really aboutreconnecting with and coming
back to that.
RR (05:33):
I am thrown back with the
staggering number of people that
are tuning into your programsat this point in time.
That's phenomenal.
Christina Pasca (05:42):
I know.
It is phenomenal.
RR (05:45):
It's going to make you feel
good.
Christina Pasca (05:47):
It does.
It does make me feel good.
And I think it's funny when itwas growing and happening, it
felt really natural in a weirdway.
And yeah, you then relate it tolike the size of a stadium.
And I'm like, that's a lot ofpeople tuning in.
But it's just, it's a relatablemessage and it's a really
beautiful thing.
RR (06:05):
Wow.
As you...
Produce the programs.
How frequently is this done?
Christina Pasca (06:11):
Every day.
I am on there every day.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So my podcast, the Tea withTeenie podcast is on Spotify.
That I typically have anepisode for every turn of the
season.
So it's like a seasonaltransitional 45 minutes to an
hour podcast that you can tuneinto.
And we talk about the solsticesand the equinoxes, wellness
tips and rituals for that.
(06:32):
And then I am on Instagram andTikTok with different videos and
inspirations every single day.
I also have a website that's alittle bit more sporadic in
terms of my blog posts.
It's really just when I feel itor have a new piece of
information to share.
But yeah, I mean, a lot ofinformation and bits of wisdom
flying across that, which is theinternet.
RR (06:53):
Okay.
And we find you specificallyhow?
Christina Pasca (06:57):
Yeah.
So you can find me atteawithtini.com or you can
search Tea with Tini.
It isT-E-A-W-I-T-H-T-E-E-N-I-E.
So Tini is spelt how my parentsspelt it, which we weren't
thinking it was going to be thisbig thing.
But it's T-E-E-N-I-E, kind of atongue twister.
And you can find me on any ofyour social media platforms,
(07:20):
TikTok, Pinterest, Instagram, ormy website or Spotify.
RR (07:23):
And you can find us there as
well.
Christina Pasca (07:25):
Yes.
Yeah.
And now I have to work out, youknow, kind of shouting out you
guys, the double R show here.
It's an exciting thing.
RR (07:34):
Yeah, it is fun.
I didn't realize how much funit would actually be.
And you've got to experiencethe same thing that I do.
Christina Pasca (07:41):
Yeah, in a way
I do.
In a way I do.
I think your setup here issuper epic.
I kind of just have a tinymicrophone and my computer and
my Word dock open and I do mything.
But yeah.
Unknown (07:53):
Yeah.
RR (07:53):
I love it.
I love it.
And some of the feedback thatyou've had from people tuning in
would be what?
Christina Pasca (08:00):
Yeah.
The word I think of is justlike gratitude and graciousness
because the feedback I'vereceived, part of the reason
that Tea with Teenie grew was Ididn't understand truly the
impact that it was making onpeople.
And in terms of, you know, theseasonal wellness rituals and
practical guides, it has changedpeople's lives.
(08:21):
And it's a really weird thingto But I mean, I have gotten so
many messages from peoplestruggling with depression and
anxiety, especially in thewinter and with that seasonal
depression.
And it has really changed theiroutlook on the season.
So, yeah, just overwhelmed withgratitude for how it's impacted
people.

Dr.
Jay Cox is with us, and we'vehad him on a number of times
(09:56):
talking about JFK, PresidentKennedy, the assassination, and
all of the conspiracies thatsurrounded that.
There are so many stories.
conspiracy theories, where didthey come from?
Dr. Jay Cox (10:10):
Well, it started
right almost immediately.
Mark Lane was one of the firstauthors in his rush to judgment,
and he had written severalbooks on that, but they take any
little thing.
For instance, we'll go toDealey Plaza, and we'll talk
about the, let's say, the earwitnesses and the eye witnesses
(10:31):
and the grassy knoll, that ofthe ear witnesses that were
there.
They interviewed about 200people about where the shots
came from.
Well, 44% did not know becauseof the echo and so on.
They couldn't place the shots.
About 28% said the school bookdepository.
(10:52):
About 16% said the grassyknoll.
And 2% said that they came fromtwo different spots.
The grassy knoll, there wasnothing there.
They didn't find anythingthere, no proof whatsoever,
ever.
But the conspiracists will putartificial trees there.
They'll say they saw gun smokeand all these different things,
(11:16):
because conspiracy is what willsell their books.
For instance, I was watching aTV program one time.
Geraldo had the Zapruder film, and he was showing the film, and
at the same time he heard sixor great shots.
Well, there's a Bruder filmwith Super 8 in those days.
It wasn't audio at all.
(11:38):
Somebody had doctored the filmand put shots in that.
And that's how the conspiraciescame to be.
His lies.
Yes.
And eyewitnesses, there wereseveral actual eyewitnesses that
saw Oswald in the sixth floorschool book depository.
They actually saw him.
Saw the rifle?
(11:59):
They saw him before.
They saw the rifle.
And they saw the shots.
And Howard Brennan was one.
He was just right across thestreet.
And he looked up and he hadseen Oswald and described him.
And then he actually, after thefirst shot, he looked up and
saw Oswald with a gun.
Same with some young man, described him age, height,
(12:22):
weight, things like that.
They put him in a lineup thatnight, Oswald.
And Brennan looked at him andhe said, well, I think he's
that, but I can't And later, much later years, he admitted
that, yes, he could identifyhim, but he was afraid of his
(12:43):
own self about a conspiracy, andhe didn't want anybody coming
after him at that time.
During those few days, no onewas sure what was going on.
So that's another of the thingsthat happened.
RR (12:58):
What are the lessons learned
from the JFK conspiracy
CURSIES.
Are there lessons
Dr. Jay Cox (13:05):
learned?
No, I don't think there's thatfrom the conspiracy angle.
I think that they learned a lotabout the protection of the
presidents.
They've never had a presidentriding in an open vehicle again
with a top down, that type ofthing.
So that they completely changedtheir protocol for checking on
the advance placement of goingthrough all the buildings.
(13:28):
They had never gone through theschool book depository because
there are so many buildingsalong the route of the
Speaker 04 (13:35):
motorcade.
Dr. Jay Cox (13:38):
Exactly.
And so they couldn't do that.
The
RR (13:42):
conspiracies that just
continually come out.
I think what you said at theonslaught is a lot of them come
about because somebody wrote abook.
Dr. Jay Cox (13:55):
Oh, yes, because
that's what sells.
And there are over 2,000 bookswritten on...
2,000?
Books and articles onconspiracy.
RR (14:06):
Is there one that is the
most truthful, if there is such
a thing?
Dr. Jay Cox (14:11):
No, I would say
that you start out...
either from the conspiracystandpoint or the truth
standpoint.
And so you follow that road.
And the best book I've everread that actually talks about
the true aspects and debunks alot of these theories is a book
by Gerald Posner, Case Closed,it's called.
(14:34):
And it's sort of the book thatI've gone to.
It will tell you all aboutthese different theories and how
they occurred.
Another one, a good one, wasthat David Lifton wrote a book,
and in his book, he says thatKennedy's body was altered by
(14:55):
surgery on the way to Bethesdathat he was actually taken off
the plane his body was operatedon and then he was put back in
the casket well the thing aboutthat is it's so easy to debunk
because no one ever left thatcoffin the coffin was her
(15:18):
medically sealed in DallasJackie sat with the coffin the
whole way back except for theone time she went up to the
front of the plane when LyndonJohnson was sworn in as the next
president.
But even when she was up there,General Godfrey McHugh, who was
(15:38):
the president's attache, military attache, he sat with a
casket the whole time.
So that casket was never left.
There was no way of doing that.
But he has him going in acasket, being removed, showing
up at Bethesda with a differentkind of casket, or even in a
(15:59):
body bag.
And people love that kind ofstuff.
They say, see, totally there'ssomething wrong there.
RR (16:06):
Dr.
Jay Cox, thank you, sir, forcoming back again.
I am so taken up by the storyof the assassination of
President Kennedy because he wasthe first president that was
really my president.
Yes, yeah.
And there's so many of theVietnam-era vets that feel the
same way.
Yes.
Dr.
Jay Cox, back in a moment.

One person wrote, the servicewas friendly and efficient.
Another writes, La Roca hasbecome one of our favorites

RR (18:04):
We move the studios of the
podcast all the way down to Les
Schwab Tire Center in LincolnCity.
With us is Tiffany Cavan, andyou are getting ready for
Christmas in July.
Tiffany Cavin (18:15):
Yes, sir.
RR (18:18):
Why Christmas in July?
Tiffany Cavin (18:20):
Well, it was
brought up and it's always been
a thing and it's been a thing Ihave never done or thought of.
And we said, why not?
So here we are.
We're getting ready forChristmas in July.
And
RR (18:32):
Christmas in July really
means what, Tiffany?
Tiffany Cavin (18:35):
I think in some
ways it kind of helps people get
the mentality of getting readyfor the holidays that's around
the corner.
It always sneaks up on us.
And also trying to, you know, maybe lighten people's moods up
a little bit and, you know, makepeople happy.
So that's kind of our goal.
The
RR (18:52):
goal is to raise money to
buy turkeys for Thanksgiving and
Christmas
Tiffany Cavin (18:57):
Yes, so the goal
behind this actually is so Les
Schwab.
We are partnered with the firedepartment and the Eagles and
with the Christmas toy drive.
And one of the things thatmaybe people don't know is that
the Eagles part of that toydrive are the food baskets.
Food baskets have gotten quiteexpensive over the years.
(19:19):
So our goal is to help raisesome funds to help cover the
turkeys.
And that's why we're here.
RR (19:26):
Okay, so we're going to do
some fundraising activities, and
you're going to have drawingsor raffles or what?
Tiffany Cavin (19:33):
Yes, so we've
been asking local businesses if
they would like to participateby either donating some
merchandise, a gift basket, adiscount to their establishment
in return.
Once you buy a $15 raffleticket, which will represent
real money towards a turkey, youwill be able to select from the
different prizes from thoseestablishments and hope you can
(19:55):
win it.
RR (19:56):
So, some of the items that
will be up for raffle are going
to include what?
Tiffany Cavin (20:02):
So far, we have a
guarantee of an 18-hole golf
course from Salishan.
We also have a two-night stayat the Salishan Resort.
We have a $100 certificate fromNo Guts No Glory Tattoo.
We are also donating La Schwab,a $250 certificate, towards
purchase or credit at ourestablishment.
(20:22):
And we're also in talks to someother establishments like the
Inn at Spanish Head.
Buy Mart, couple of other localbusinesses, and I'm hoping to
have some more lists out hereshortly.
RR (20:31):
So if somebody wants to
participate in the Christmas in
July Turkey Drive, we do what?
Tiffany Cavin (20:39):
Please feel free
to contact us here at the Les
Schwab here in Lincoln City.
Our phone number is listed, which is 541-994-3676.
Please feel free to call usanytime.
We'd be happy to give you somemore information and get that
going.
I
RR (20:53):
love the line that's on your
flyer.
Don't worry, the turkeys arestill grazing and getting fat.
Tiffany Cavin (20:59):
Yes, we didn't
want people to think that you're
actually literally picking up aturkey.
So we just wanted to make surepeople understood that the
turkey tickets representing theturkey.
But the turkeys are stillgetting ready.
RR (21:11):
Now, you're doing the raffle
for how long, from when to
when?
Tiffany Cavin (21:17):
So right now, it
is for July 25th.
They will be open through ourstore hours, which is 8 to 6,
all day long.
I will be here at the store.
Anytime between those hours, please feel free to come in.
We will accept cash, or thereis also a QR code that you can
pay by card.
So just whatever is mostconvenient.
RR (21:37):
And again, it is monies.
that is going to buy turkeysfor families that really
desperately need them?
Tiffany Cavin (21:44):
Absolutely.
So every year there's been morefamilies in need.
And one thing is that theEagles have really, really
stepped in is supplying thoseturkeys.
And so our goal is to helpraise some more of those funds
so we can cover more of thoseturkey funds.
That way they can also supplymore of the food that is in
demand.
RR (22:02):
You know, most often
whenever I hear and see about
fundraisers, the people that aremost involved are those that
come from a source of need downthe road and they're paying it
forward now.
Tiffany Cavin (22:17):
Yeah oh
absolutely and you know the nice
thing about this is thateverybody that's involved at
some point has needed somethingor has you know gone to
establishments and I thinkthat's one reason why this drive
is very successful because alot of people that are involved
have been there and I mean I'vebeen there in the past myself
and so this is just our way ofpaying it forward to the
(22:38):
community and this is the firstchristmas in july turkey drive
so we're hoping to make it athing where we can continue to
do this every year and make itbigger
RR (22:46):
and again for 15 you get a
raffle ticket and you can put it
in to potentially win whatevercorrect
Tiffany Cavin (22:55):
absolutely yep so
that 15 ticket if you one two
three whatever how many ticketsyou want to purchase you will be
able to enter that ticket thatyou purchase into whatever
raffle of your choosing you
RR (23:08):
probably can't be
embarrassed and sell too many
tickets, right?
Tiffany Cavin (23:11):
Oh, no,
absolutely not.
I mean, our goal is if we cancover their budget with the
turkey so they can buy otherthings, that would be amazing.
RR (23:20):
Okay, it is the first
Christmas in July, Turkey Drive.
Wine is on Friday, July 25, buttickets are up for sale now.
Tiffany Cavin (23:31):
Well, no, so
right now, the way we are doing
it right now is just the 25th,so just the 25th, which is a
Friday only through our openhours of 8 to 6.
So right now, that's what we'redoing.
Potentially, depending on howthings go in the following
years, we would like to expandit.
But for right now, Friday the25th from 8 to 6, come in and we
(23:57):
will get that taken care of.
RR (23:59):
Help Tiffany help others by
buying a ticket and or bringing
in a prize.
Tiffany Cavin (24:05):
Absolutely.
We will never turn down ifanybody wants to donate in the
items, whatever.
There's also a 501c write-offcode for any business that are
interested.
It is actually tax deductible.
So please feel free to reachout to me.
RR (24:20):
All sponsored by North
Lincoln Fire and Rescue, the
Eagles, and Lincoln City's LesSchwab Tire Center.
Look for the sign.
You're in Les Schwab country,right?
Tiffany Cavin (24:29):
Absolutely.

Right there,
right by the beach.
You'll find a book for everyoccasion at Bob's Beach Books.

RR (24:48):
Turkeys, turkeys, turkeys.
We opened up by talking aboutturkeys and the WKRP item that
was on television years ago, butpeople still remember it.
Son Paul (24:59):
WKRP in Cincinnati,
yeah, so classic television from
the day.
And
RR (25:05):
don't forget the big turkey
drop in Lincoln City is going to
be Friday, July 25th Our thanksto the staff at Les Schwab Tire
Center here in Lincoln City forputting that together.
Senior Fair coming up October7th.
We've got Stuff-A-Bus September5th, Celebration of Honor
September 10th, 11th, and 12th.
Surf City weekend August 23rd,24th.
(25:27):
You never run out of somethingto do in this community.
Son Paul (25:32):
It is a jam-packed
summer as always on the Oregon
coast.
And so just touching on that aswell, you know, we've got the
Sand Art Competition on theSaturday.
the Kayaking in the Daylight onAugust 23rd and Kayaking in the
Moonlight on September 6th.
And the one that we hadn'ttalked about much is Welcoming
the Salmon Home, September 20th.
So another one to put on yourcalendar.
Tell me about that, Welcomingthe Salmon Home.
(25:54):
Yeah, so it started almost adecade ago at Westwind and it
was just an event put on to kindof signal the return of those
iconic salmon that are theambassadors of the sea that come
back in the fall.
And so the Welcoming in theSalmon Home is put on by Cascade
Head Bites for Collaborativeand others, and it's going to be
(26:15):
at Night Park, and there'sgoing to be music and fun and
booths, and then also we'regoing to return the pontoon
boats
RR (26:23):
rides, too.
I was going to say you need alittle rain to bring the salmon
up the river, but for the event, probably not so much.
Son Paul (26:29):
You're right.
Yeah, the water is key forsalmon, but hopefully we have a
little bit of reprieve.
