They'll talk about what uhactivities they're doing to
raise money to buy toys for totsthroughout the area.
And of course, food.
They're gonna raise a lot ofmoney for a lot of food as well.
So that's coming up.
Talk about that and AngelsAnonymous right after this.

RR (02:19):
Happy holidays is something
to talk about already because we
are making the holidays happierfor a lot of children.
And one organization that isreally at the forefront of that
is the uh Eagles Lodge righthere in Lincoln City.
Two ladies have joined us, uhNancy White and Elena Jones.
Elena, thanks for being here.
Elana Jones (02:37):
Thank you for
inviting me.
RR (02:39):
Now, you are out to raise
money to get toys for the
children in North LincolnCounty, correct?
Elana Jones (02:45):
Uh correct.
Uh actually the North LincolnEagles partners with the North
Lincoln Fire and Rescue.
They put out the toy boxes atthe different businesses, and uh
we do the food and we put ittogether and then they help us
deliver the food baskets andtoys.
RR (03:07):
It's quite an operation.
Elana Jones (03:09):
Yes.
Uh it takes us two weeks to putit together.
Uh we work at the St.
Peter's Lutheran Church.
Uh they donate their activitycenter downstairs, and we have
that for two weeks.
And so the first part of thethe two weeks we work on toys.
The fire department brings thetoys in, and then we sort them
and put them with families inage-appropriate gifts for the
(03:31):
children.
RR (03:32):
So, how do we know what goes
where?
What toys go to family XYZ?
Elana Jones (03:38):
Well, we have uh
shoppers and we get applications
from the parents.
Okay.
And we hopefully get some ideasfrom the parents as to what
those children want.
And we try to keep our toysbetween the $25, $30, $35 range.
Uh, so we obviously are notgoing to give them an Xbox or or
(03:59):
something in that price range, but and we try to do uh three
toys per child from birth to 17and then we wrap all the toys.
We have wrappers that come inand volunteer their time to wrap
all those toys because you knowwe have probably well last year
(04:20):
we did 325 families, and inthat there is probably six
hundred and fifty children.
Uh so that's a lot of giftwrapping.
RR (04:32):
So right now you're doing
the toy drive.
That's the the opening part ofit, and so you got barrels all
over town?
Elana Jones (04:39):
Yes, the the fire
department will pick put them
out, and then they pick up thetoys, and then we move into the
church on December the sixth, and then they will start
bringing the toys to us.
We first organize them ingroups of you know, age groups,
boys and girls, and then when westart getting the applications
(05:00):
in, then we have shoppers thatgo out and look at the tables
and pick up stuff that would beappropriate for those children.
Our applications will probablybe out about the 19th century.
RR (05:13):
Where we want to get an
application.
Elana Jones (05:15):
Okay, the
applications are on the North
Lincoln Eagles website, uh,which is North Lincoln Eagles
2576.com.
They're available at the NorthFire Hall, they're available at
the Eagles Lodge, and also atLes Schwab.
RR (05:30):
You've got all of these
children that are in need.
Parents say that that are inneed of things for the children.
So we're gathering the toys, wewrap the toys, we deliver the
toys.
It's rather significant.
Elana Jones (05:45):
Uh it is.
It is just really and andthere's also uh they get food
for a week approximately uh withturkey, turkey breast, ham for
holiday dinner.
And so the families of one, two, and three usually get like
one food box, and uh largerfamilies get two food boxes.
(06:07):
Sometimes the larger familiesget like a two turkeys,
sometimes they'll get one plus aham, uh, just depending on the
size of the family.
RR (06:16):
No, uh correct me if I'm uh
wrong, but this program started
with the uh elks before the elksuh w went away for a period of
time, correct?
Elana Jones (06:25):
Uh we used to
partner uh with the elks.
The Eagles actually starteddoing it in 1986.
Another couple and my husbandand I started with four families
that we did in 1986, and it'sgrown now to we do probably 325.
RR (06:41):
Families or children?
Elana Jones (06:42):
Families.
RR (06:43):
Wow.
Elana Jones (06:44):
Uh the elks closed
in 2015.
They used to do the north endof town, and the Eagles would do
the south end of town.
And when they closed, then theEagles took over, and we do from
the Van Doozer Corridor uh onthis side of it to the Solets
River Bridge.
RR (07:04):
Now, Nancy, you some of the
money has to be raised because
it's not just all given away, and you do that with music.
Nancy Wyatt (07:12):
Well, we do that
with music to help with uh
children's clothing.
I mean, a lot of kids, a lot offamilies, they need clothing
for their children.
They need warm warmies, theyneed sweatshirts, they need
things like that.
But we get a lot of money bydoing our auction and raising
money throughout the year.
But one of the things we haveBluegrass is night at the Eagles
(07:36):
Lodge from six to eight everyTuesday.
And that group this summerraised over eleven hundred
dollars just to help theChristmas baskets.
So we have a lot of differentgroups within the Eagles that
try to help make this allpossible.
RR (07:54):
Do you have to be a member
of the Eagles to go in and enjoy
the bluegrass?
Nancy Wyatt (07:58):
No, just come and
sign in at the desk and make
sure that they know that youknow you're here for the music
and it's free and it's someamazing musicians.
RR (08:09):
We're gonna have you back on
uh on a future podcast as well
to talk about the history of theNelscott Strip, uh Nelscott
area, because the Eagles Lodgehas been there since the 1900s,
early well, since 1920.
Elana Jones (08:24):
1923.
RR (08:25):
1923.
Nancy Wyatt (08:26):
It's got a great
history.
Elana Jones (08:28):
And the the
building, the logs were logged
off the property that built thebuilding.
And it used to be an auto parkwhere people would come and
camp.
And then during the Depression,it was a a soup kitchen.
And then two families, theNelson family and the Scott
family that made up Nelsondonated it to the Eagles in
(08:53):
1972.
RR (08:55):
What a history.
Elana Jones (08:56):
And that's and then
that's where that building ha
uh you know came from.
Um, you know, we have added onto it.
But it's it's pretty amazing, Ithink, on the inside.
That's the biggest activity forthe year, the the toy drive and
then we also do a scholarshipto the Taft School and also
(09:17):
career tech, they could applyfor it too.
Nancy Wyatt (09:20):
Yeah, sadly they
kind of burnt out.
Yeah, but we gave um ninescholarships of a thousand
dollars each last year.
We're really thankful for FrankNapoleon.
His Hawaiian breakfast has beena great uh draw and moneymaker,
and so he is our big moneymaker for our lodge for the
(09:43):
scholarships.
But we named the scholarshipthe Angie Thompson Memorial
Scholarship Fund because AngieThompson was an amazing school
teacher who, when she retired, wanted to do things for the
children of Lincoln City, andshe started all these
(10:03):
scholarship uh programs, and sowhen she passed, we renamed the
scholarship for her.
RR (10:09):
Again, the activity is
underway as we speak, raising
money, uh getting toys, gettingwrapping paper, uh the whole bit
because it's not that far away.
Elana Jones (10:21):
No, it's not.
Uh and I did uh we apply forgrants.
We've applied for a grantthrough the city.
Uh we just receivedconfirmation that we're going to
get a drug a grant from theSoletz Tribe, their charitable
contribution foundation, andLush Schwab helps us with
raising money for turkeysmainly.
Mo's they sell cookies, buytoys with the money they raise
(10:46):
for cookies they sell.
So and then the factory storesuh usually give us we buy gift
cards there and then they'llusually kick in an extra amount.
Um we have a give a damn day atShuckers that uh Mark Romer uh
does.
So we have people from all overtown that work with us and and
(11:08):
help us.
Otherwise, we could not do thison our own.
We have 300 members, and youknow, it's getting to the point
that it's gotten beyond what wecan fundraise ourselves.
And so these partners thatwe've developed over the years
are instrumental in what we do.
RR (11:25):
Nancy White and Elena Jones.
Thank you, ladies, and uh goodluck.
unknown (11:30):
Thank you.
Nancy Wyatt (11:31):
Thanks for having
us on.
Zantello (11:33):

RR (12:14):
For 26 years, the community
has gathered in Lincoln City to
raise money for Angels Anonymouswith an event called Festival
of the Trees.
Twenty-six years later, PhilRobertson is with us, chairman
of the this year's event, 26years in the making.
Son Phil (12:30):
Yeah, it's all thanks
to Jim Davis who got this whole
thing started.
As a matter of fact.
Yeah, um, he dislodged Jim thislast year, this year, so just
recently.
And so this is one of thoseyears we're really kind of a
helping celebrate the gym andsome of the other founders of
this year.
In fact, one of the trees we'regonna have this year is a part
of that.
It's gonna be a founder's treesponsored by Angels Anonymous,
(12:51):
and we're gonna encourage peoplefrom the community to come and
bring their purchase a uhornament and put it on the tree.
And for someone you would haveknown, someone you've lost in
the past, someone you want toremember, someone you're
thinking about, just or justdonate to Angels Anonymous.
So it's a nice way to kind ofyou know bring the festival to
the community from Angels.
RR (13:12):
So if you want to uh
contribute a dollar, a thousand
dollars, ten thousand dollars,we'll take it all.
We'll take it all.
We'll take it all.
We have a number of trees thatare gonna be there, sponsored by
a variety of businesses andindividuals in the community.
Son Phil (13:25):
Yeah, I'm just gonna
go through the list here.
I really want to thank them allbecause it's it they they
really do a lot to put thesetrees together.
I mean, they're not just aChristmas tree, there's a lot of
stuff that goes with it.
So Zellers Barn Grill, youknow, Adina and Jennifer
McDonald have really done somewonderful things the last few
years.
So I'm all I'm always excitedto see what they come up with.
Uh Jennifer is just aremarkable decorator, so I'm
(13:46):
looking forward to that one.
Of course, our ForeverSchnookwins Casino Resort.
They can't say enough aboutwhat they do.
Where to go, Heather.
Yeah, I mean, they really dostep up.
I mean, not just the casino, but the tribe itself.
So the Federated Tribe wasflexible.
We want to thank them both.
And the new general manager upthere, Samantha McDonald,
appreciate all everything thatshe's been doing for us here
lately as well.
So, and of course, HeatherHatton, who is really our
(14:08):
liaison into the unit.
She pushes it.
She does.
Also, this year we're backagain is Oregon Coast Bank, but
with them is new.
It's Teen Alchemical Toilets.
So, I mean, thank you, AngieWare, for joining us.
And she's actually bought treesthe past few years, so it's
kind of nice that she's actuallysponsoring a tree this year.
So I look forward to see whatthey come up with.
Returning again is the LincolnCity Police Department and the
LCPEA union members.
(14:30):
They're going to be decoratingthe tree again this year.
Maggie Anderson.
Maggie brought us the mini treelast year, which was originally
very popular.
I mean it really was.
You have to have a magnifyingglass because it is very
detailed and it is an amazinglittle tree.
We have again the littlemagnifying glass.
You'll see it there, and it'sreally neat to see it.
We want to thank Maggie forjoining us again.
(14:50):
The Chamber of Commerce, theRotary Club, and the Kowanas
Club have all gone in together.
Collectively, all three.
Collectively, all three.
So Lori at the chamber, NicolePeterson, Beth Towers, and
Estelle Harlan are all going tobe our decorators this year.
So we want to thank all of themindividually for joining us
again.
Uh, first Interstate Bank isback again this year.
The manager, Amanda, there.
We'll really thank them aswell.
(15:11):
They're also a uh a sponsor,our bigger major sponsor.
They already gave us some somesome cash from the first
interstate bank as well, so wewant to thank them as well.
Beach Crest Brewing Company,Amy and Matt White, can't say
enough what they do.
They're also going to be ourentertainment this year.
They're bringing their voicesin more than one way.
Uh their band or a combinationof them and a few other sole
(15:33):
proprietors.
They're very good.
They kind of play a soul funk70s, 80s kind of a vibe to it.
So it's really stuff you canget out there and dance to.
I'm looking forward to seeingwhat they can do for us this
year.
This is new one.
Uh, the Kennedy family and theHash family, the two families
that have come together.
They're going to come and jointo give us a tree.
Have no idea what their themeis.
We're looking forward to seeingwhat they come up with.
Uh, let's see here.
(15:53):
Northwest Natural and BobFawcett construction.
RR (15:56):
This is a number of years of
since.
Son Phil (15:59):
Northwest Natural.
Well, Cindy was our boardmember for many years until she
had to step aside to for otherthings.
Well, work probably.
And so Northwest Natural, theyare continuing to be a huge
sponsor for us.
And of course, having BobFawcett kind of join us, great.
We're looking forward to seeingwhat they do.
Uh, Coastal Appliances uhcompany, Mandy and Jeff, they're
at it again.
They are always bringing up,they always step up.
(16:19):
They always bring somebeautiful furniture.
Uh, one year they had arefrigerator, one year they had,
you know, they had a they'vethey they kind of changed up
every year, so I look forward toseeing what they come up with
as well again this year.
Uh returning again, LeshwabTire Center.
Uh the new manager up there isScott Hayes.
Thank you, Scott, for joiningus.
Returning for again.
RR (16:35):
And Tiffany really puts it
on the book.
Tiffany, she did.
I should I should I should saythat.
Son Phil (16:38):
Yes, she's she's the
she's the brains behind it all,
honestly.
So she's the push.
Yes.
Granny's attic.
We've had Lori and Dale forwell as long as I've been on the
board, and that's quite awhile.
So, and they have a doublespace this year.
I should say the casino alsohas a double space this year,
but they've really gone out.
I mean, they've been working onthis since there's gonna be
(16:59):
some stuff underneath that tree.
And they've been very quietabout it.
So I have no idea what'scoming, um, but I'm looking
forward to seeing what they comeup with again.
Uh, Mo's Lincoln City.
Can't say enough about Moe's.
Everything, you know, thisMoe's.
We all love Mo's, and thankyou, Frank, for continuing to
support us.
A new one this year.
Lincoln County PublicEmployees.
Chief Deputy District AttorneyMichael Thorncroft is going to
(17:21):
be decorating a tree with hiswith his team.
So I like that.
RR (17:25):
This is really good.
Son Phil (17:26):
This is people
basically coming out of Newport
up here to support us.
Yes, and and I think it'sgreat.
And so it's and again, reachingout across the community and
county is as it's fantastic.
I really appreciate them comingto join us this year.
Returning again, Habitat forHumanity, uh, Lucinda Taylor,
and she's partnering again withLincoln County TLC, the Division
of Fiber Federal Credit Union.
(17:47):
And so we want to thank them aswell.
The Girl Scouts Troop Should Ihave cookies.
Yeah, sure.
The Girl Scout Troop 10143again returning.
Uh Katie Kennedy has broughtthose girls up there.
They decorate a very they theyalways make all their own
ornaments.
I'm guessing they're probablygonna do something similar again
this year.
So it's always a very populartree, very traditional tree,
(18:09):
which is great.
This is one that I'm lookingforward to.
Mermaid Salon.
I mean, I've been talking toMichelle for the entire year.
And she has been planning andshe's been very secretive.
She doesn't want anybody toknow what she's doing.
But there she says it's gonnablow our minds.
So I'm looking forward to seewhat she's doing.
She's gonna be right up front,so we'll see what she comes up
with.
I mentioned the AngelsAnonymous Founders Tree.
That's when we can come up andyou can buy an ornament and
(18:31):
decorate the ornament.
And then finally, again,they're anonymous.
It's two chicks and a chap.
RR (18:38):
And a wine tree.
Son Phil (18:39):
No, it's not a wine
tree, a wine table.
It's a wine table.
Well, we uh all of our boardmembers we gather wines from
different places, all around theworld, really.
And we auction it off as one ofour last auction items for the
night.
RR (18:50):
We're gonna take a break.
We'll be back in just a moment.
We'll talk about the Reese andthe sponsors for the 26th Annual
Festival of Tweets, sponsoredby Angels Anonymous.
Chinook Winds Casino Reso (19:02):
Light
Langers, live in colours,
living there, and we're gonna goto the club.
RR (20:01):
Welcome back to the double
show with me, son Phil
Robertson.
We've been talking about the26th annual festival of the
trees uh coming up December the6th up at Chununkowan's Casino
Resort.
Really the only place thisevent can be held in the area.
Right.
Son Phil (20:16):
Well, it's the it's
not just the trees.
We have a the big banquet we doas well.
And by the time this airs, Ithink we'll probably have a few
tickets remaining.
I don't know.
We're always getting close tothe selling out, so it's kind of
hard.
But tickets are available ifyou go to the our Angels
Anonymous website, which youtype in Angels Anonymous L L C,
I believe it is, dot com.
And we're the shot.
It's there yeah, there mightstill be some tickets available.
RR (20:37):
Now, in our first uh
segment, we talked about all of
the trees, but we have a numberof wreaths that people have
sponsored as well.
Son Phil (20:45):
Correct.
Now, this is a silent auction.
We don't do a live auction onthese.
These are all the silentauction items.
Again, Granny's Attic are doinganother wreath for us.
Teresa Simmons, a board memberof ours, and so is Don Brunemis,
another board member of ours.
They're both they both dofantastic trees.
They're very both talentedladies, they are.
Um, Stephen Pearcy and Wandaand Bob.
They're doing it doing awreath.
(21:06):
I don't know much about it, butthat was all.
I just kind of got that onefrom Don the other day.
The Lincoln City Outlets, theirmanager, Sharon Jasmer, is
going to be doing one for us.
Now I'm gonna butcher this, butI hope I didn't.
It's a Swaffle Farm eggs.
I hope they said thatcorrectly.
Marcy Herleman is doing awreath for us this year as well.
The Corsi family, I again, abrand new one for us this year.
(21:28):
We're always happy to have newones that come in every single
year.
And then St.
James, Santiago EpiscopalChurch is also sponsoring a
wreath this year.
RR (21:35):
So we got the wreaths, we
got the trees, uh, we've got a
huge auction, but we also havesome sponsors that have really
stepped up to the plate to makethis an event that's going to
make money to serve thecommunity.
Son Phil (21:47):
And number one, of
course, like it is every year,
it's Chinookwin's Casino Resortand the Confederated Tribes of
Slaz Indians.
They do so much for us.
I mean, it's not just thefacilities, but it's every
little thing.
Their staff helps us out.
They set the trees up for us.
And, you know, if you want tothank somebody, thank some of
that banquet facilities becausethey really do an amazing job.
And the food has been fantasticthe past few years.
(22:09):
So, I mean, really, everythingup there has been fine.
Food this year is we've got uhit's a sit-down dinner.
Last few years we've had abuffet.
This year we're sitting downagain.
We've got uh steak, fish, uh,salmon, and vegetarian is gonna
be the Portobello mushroom, andeverything comes with shrimp on
the side, and of course, there'slike a rice pilaf, I believe,
or something like that.
I'm hungry already.
And then dessert is also like achocolate melody.
(22:32):
I'm not quite sure what we'redoing there, but yeah.
RR (22:34):
So one of the couples that
have really stepped up to the
plate again, uh Chet and BarbaraGardner, probably them next.
Probably uh don't know Chet, but uh he originally owned Jim
Kodaks in Depot Bay.
Uh also at a coin shop here inLincoln City.
That's the way I remember Chet.
Chet's coins.
Yeah, Chet's coins.
And then Barbara was a schoolteacher for a number of years in
(22:55):
North Lincoln County.
But they gave Angels a pile ofmoney.
$10,000.
They are a huge sponsor, Chetand Barbara.
Son Phil (23:02):
That just blows my
mind, the generosity that they
are doing for this this year.
It's just really amazing.
And so, yes, we can't thankChet and Barbara enough for what
their donation.
First Interstate Bank is also abig sponsor this year, along
with Pacific Corps, PacificPower, and they're both major
sponsors.
Also, a new one, which is thisone just came in the other day.
Fleet of Flowers of Depot Baygave Angels Anonymous $1,000.
RR (23:24):
Money they raised for a
nonprofit activity in Depot Bay.
Uh, they said that they wantedto make certain that it went
went into helping people ofNorth Lincoln County.
And that's what we do at AngelsAnonymous.
Son Phil (23:36):
That's what it really
did fit in nicely.
Other sponsors, I gotta makesure I mentioned it's ultrasonic
uh events.
They do all of our lights andsounds.
They can't think those guysenough.
D D C Movers, Anthony and histeam are just fantastic.
Quality printing is doingeverything for us.
Our printing, Joy and her wholeteam, fantastic.
Thank you so much.
Danny Curler's also helping uswith the printing as well.
(23:56):
So, Station 3 promotionalgraphics.
Thank you, Danny.
Michelle Davis, she does all ofour graphic design.
Michelle has just been with us,geez, I don't know.
Since the onslaught, yeah.
So she does all of the design.
Since the beginning.
Yeah.
So she's wonderful.
Thank you again for Michelle.
Ace Hardware here in LincolnCity.
Ben and his team up there, theyreally just help support us as
the things we need.
They fill in all the littledetail things we're missing.
(24:19):
I get over at Ace.
So thank you for those guys.
Uh I mentioned Estill Harlan.
She's also a big sponsor of usagain this year.
And the Boy Scouts are also theones who bring us our trees.
And the trees, the past fewyears, have been beautiful.
I mean, some really beautifultrees.
RR (24:36):
The trees are are brought
not only to the casino, they set
them up and bring them into theconvention center.
Son Phil (24:43):
Right.
And then DNC Which is a hugetask.
Yes, they set those trees upfor us, and then DC Movers
delivers those trees for us.
And that's not just the tree.
There's a lot of stuff thatgoes with the trees.
I mean, we're talkingfurniture.
We've had a gun safe one year.
I mean, there's been a lot ofdifferent things that have come
with the trees.
I mean handmade wine cabinet, Iremember well.
That was a heavy big delivery, yes, it was.
RR (25:06):
Yes, it was.
Son Phil (25:07):
And they basically
deliver anywhere in the county
and a little bit outside.
So we're we're kind of you knowtrying to keep it tight, but we
will go outside of the countyfor the city.
But there is an additionalcharge for it.
Absolutely.
Delivery cost, yeah.
RR (25:19):
So again, Angel Ball,
December 6th, Sunday Wins Casino
Resort.
But uh, you have an opportunityto bring the children up
because Santa Claus is going tobe up there as well.
Son Phil (25:29):
Friday the 5th, we'll
have Santa Claus from 5 to uh 8
o'clock.
We'll have candy canes up therefor the kids.
And also we should mention thatthe trees will be open for
viewing beginning on Wednesdayat noon prior to that.
So Wednesday through Friday, noon to eight o'clock, and then
on Saturday, the day of theevent, we're open from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m.
RR (25:49):
And for all of those
decorators out there that are
going to be working on thosetrees, tie them on, tie them on,
tie them on.
Did I say tie on everything?
Son Phil (25:57):
And zip tie them on is
another good word.
Zip tie them on is a great one.
Those little tiny zip ties arereally wonderful.
So yeah.
Critically important.
It's a great event.
It really is.
And again, all the money weraise goes directly back to the
people of North the Gang County.

They're being very particularuh about the uh safety concerns,
what you can uh carry in withyou a bag, uh, you know, uh no

And because of the big kingtides, normally we have you've
been part of this for eonsjumping in New Year's Day into
(28:19):
the bay.
Son Paul (28:20):
