This week on The Dugout, we speak with Fawaz, a Sudanese anarchist organizer, about building resistance in the face of dictatorship, war, and repression. From organizing underground student circles after the 2018–2019 uprising to going public as anarchists in 2020, Fawaz shares how youth movements in Sudan are rejecting military, religious, and tribal authoritarianism—and planting the seeds of mutual aid and collective care. We discuss the legacy of colonialism, the dangers of organizing under surveillance, and the everyday realities of fighting for freedom.
What does it mean to organize without hierarchy while under siege? How do revolutionary ideas take root when everything around you is collapsing?
