This one's heavy, y'all. After three years of hosting The Board Walks every Saturday at 8am, I'm stepping down as the Austin host - and I need to tell you why.
I'm getting completely vulnerable about the identity shift that's happening as The Walks have grown from word-of-mouth to viral posts that bring in hundreds of newsletter subscribers and dozens of host applications every time I share.
Here's what we're diving into:
✨How my growing online presence started affecting the energy of the walks
✨Why 5-10 people every week were coming specifically to get free access to me (instead of for the conversations)
✨The moment I realized I was becoming "poison" to my own event
✨How setting loving boundaries backfired and created chaos in the group
✨The bittersweet reality of working ON the business vs. IN the business
I'm also sharing the identity death that comes with letting go of being "The Walk Girl" after 15,000 people have attended over three years, and why this transition is necessary for the mission to go global.
If you've ever had to step back from something you created to let it grow bigger than you, this one will hit deep. Sometimes loving something means knowing when to let it evolve beyond you.
Listen if you're navigating your own growing pains or wondering how to scale something you're passionate about without losing its soul.
