Listener beware - if you’re not ready for your core fears and desires in life to be exposed, this episode may not be for you! Just kidding. Well, sort of… Today on the podcast Jess Gartner is back to finish up our conversation on the Enneagram. This personality tool has become one of the most popular out there because, not only is it pretty spot-on, but it will help you to know what to do with your personality type and how to make sure you stay in a healthy place.
In Part 1 last week, Jess and I joked that if you don’t want more self-awareness then the Enneagram probably isn’t for you. But really, who doesn’t need more self-awareness in their life?! The beautiful thing about this conversation, though, is that it’s not just about US - it’s also about how we can have increased empathy and understanding in our relationships with those around us. Again, who doesn’t need more of that in their life?! In that episode we also started diving into the first three types of the Enneagram. So today, we’re wrapping it up with types 4 through 9. Personally, I’m a type 7, so this episode is even more exciting to me!
No matter what number you identify with, though, it’s important to get a good understanding of them all for a few reasons. First, it can help you confirm what type you are. Second, even once you know your type, you must recognize that we all have connections to several other types on the diagram. And third, it’s good to know what the other numbers mean so that you can have a little more appreciation when you meet people who are different than you! (Hint: some of these people may be living in your very own house…)
While analyzing personality types is always an interesting conversation to me, Jess’s main message today is to have compassion. It’s something we need for ourselves and for our loved ones as we navigate this journey we call life. And hey, now that you know better, you can continue to do better!

Ruthie's Table 4
For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
