For the longest time, I thought staying behind the scenes meant being humble. But God showed me something different—hiding isn’t humility, it’s disobedience. In this episode, I’m sharing a personal story about how I came to that realization and the major shift it created in my business and life.

I’ll walk you through my “Light on a Stand” Strategy, a biblically inspired approach that helped me step into my calling without chasing attention or compromising my faith. If you’ve ever felt torn between being visible and staying “humble,” this episode is for you.

Here’s What I’ll Cover:

✨ Why playing small could be costing you—and the people you’re meant to serve.
🔥 How to let your work speak for itself while staying grounded in your values.
💡 How to walk boldly in your God-given authority and trust that opportunities will find you.

If you’re ready to rise above fear, stop second-guessing yourself, and let your light shine the way God intended—join me for this powerful conversation.

P.S. If you know someone struggling to step into their calling, share this episode—you could be the encouragement they need today.

win and grow business God's wayor do business and life God's
way. And so I'm excited you guysare tuning in. Welcome back to
all my returning listeners fromall over the world. And, again,

(01:10):
I just wanna say I appreciateyou guys allowing me to pour
into you and teach you thethings that God has been showing
me in my season ofentrepreneurship. And so I
wanted to say that today, we aregoing to tackle a topic that a
lot of people don't realizethere is actual strategies from

(01:33):
the bible, and it's aboutpersonal branding and how to
specifically, how to build apowerful personal brand while
staying true to God's calling.
And before we dive in, I wantedto go ahead and open up in a
word of prayer, because I thinkthis is going to reveal to you

(01:55):
some of the strongholds that maybe stopping you from being all
that God called you to be. Solet's pray. Heavenly father.
Thank you for every listenertuning in today. Open our hearts
and minds to understand howyou've called us to be lights in
the marketplace and let today'smessage equip and encourage my

(02:16):
brothers and sisters who arelistening on the other line to
rise boldly in their calling inthe mighty name of Jesus.
Amen. So I wanted to start offby sharing something personal.
Many years ago, I found myselfsitting at my home office desk
overwhelmed and a little bitfrustrated because despite my

(02:37):
certifications, despite theawards that I've gotten out in
the marketplace and my heart forserving others, my business
wasn't growing to the point thatI wanted to. Like, it was
growing, but not enough. Right?
I wanted to get to a point whereI wanted to hire people. I

(02:58):
wanted to get to a point whereit's no longer me in the
business, but me focusing onwhat God called me to do, like
my strength zones, which is whatidea generation, sis creating
systems, as well as, you know, building relationships. And I
was doing all the other things Ididn't want to do, and I just
wanted to ask God why. No. Whywhy isn't why am I not

(03:20):
experiencing all the types ofsuccess that my peers are
having?
And I remember I told him, I waslike, I have the skills I'm
doing everything right. What amI missing? And one morning
during my devotional, I wasreading Matthew chapter 5 and
verse 15 left off, leaped offthe page. Is it left or leaped?
I don't even know if I'm sayingthe right thing, but bottom line

(03:43):
was the scripture where it says, neither do people light a lamp
and put it under a bowl.
Instead, they put it on a standand gives light to everyone in
the house. And that's when ithit me. I was hiding. I had been
playing small, afraid of beingtoo visible because I thought

(04:03):
staying behind the scenes wasbeing humble, but God showed me
that hiding isn't humility. It'sdisobedience.
And when you bury the gifts he'sgiven you, you're holding back
the impact he's called you tomake. And so I wanna give you
guys a few core teachings, andthe first one is stewardship of

(04:26):
your gift. And the stewardshipof your gift, is something that
you you you hear about, but Idon't think we really grasp the
importance of it. Because manyChristians I know struggle with
visibility because they confusehumility with hiding. But think
about Jesus.

(04:46):
He never hid his gift. He taughtin the synagogues on mountain
sides and homes wherever peopleneeded him. So when God gives
you skills experience and acalling hiding, isn't humility
is actually disobedience. And Ihated that. That was something
that I did not like, because I,I didn't wanna feel like I was

(05:09):
bragging or showing off or, youknow, I didn't want people to
think that I thought that wasbetter than them.
But in reality, I was disobeyingGod because the the the the
truth of the matter is your exyour expertise isn't for your
benefit. It's meant to serveothers and glorify God. Right?
So the question I wanna ask youis what if the breakthrough

(05:33):
someone needs is tied to thegift you've been too afraid to
share? And I really had to getkicked in the rear end by the
holy spirit, to get out thereand talk about my giftings, talk
about the things he showed me,and really, like I had to stop.
It kind of reminds me of thisis, I think you'll relate to

(05:54):
this even though maybe youwon't, but I'm gonna share it
because I felt like that it'sdropped in my spirit just now. I
remember, when I was, you know, really busy in my business and
really busy just focusing on Godand focusing ministry. And I was
single at that time, and Ididn't really entertain anybody
even though I was, you know, Iwas doing really well as a I was

(06:18):
a hot commodity in the singleworld. I had no kids. I was
doing well financially.
I have my own house. I'd Ireally was, healed and delivered
from my past. And I remember mypastor's wife, and my pastor was
like, Edna, why aren't youdating? And I'm like, it's
because no one's really askedme. They're like, well, do you

(06:38):
do anything?
Do you do anything fun? Do yougo outside there? And I was
like, I don't have time forthat. And, and I remember my
pastor's wife's like, you needto go online dating. I'm like,
oh, like dating.
I was like, oh, absolutely not. That's for desperate people. And
I remember, like, she reallyencouraged me. You need to put

(06:59):
make a profile. You know, you'rereally busy.
You're, you know, focused, career driven women, you know,
conquering the marketplace. It'slike she's like, you need to put
yourself out there becauseyou're you're, what did he she's
he's yeah. She said your Boazisn't gonna show up to your door
if you're not making yourselfavailable. You have to show that
you're you know, who you are.You have to show put yourself

(07:21):
out there.
And that's the same thing inbusiness. Right? Your ideal
customer or your clients is isgonna show up to your door if
you're hiding. Right? If you'renot going out there and
presenting yourself to buyers, potential buyers, if that makes
sense.
I thought that was really funny. And by the way, what's that
word? Spoiler alert. Yeah.Spoiler alert.

(07:45):
I ended up marrying my husbandwho I met on match.com. So,
yeah, it was a good call.Alright. That's another story,
though. I'm not gonna go intothat today.
Alright. So the next point thatI wanna talk about is service
over self promotion. You know, here's what here's where many
entrepreneurs get stuck. Theythink building a personal brand

(08:06):
means constantly talking aboutthemselves. Right?
Personal brand isn't alwaysabout talking about yourselves.
It's g what Jesus did was adifferent way. He actually
didn't self promote. He servedthrough stories, miracles, and
life changing encounters. Sowhat did he do to S to sum it

(08:28):
up?
He let his impact speak louderthan words. You see your
personal brand should be aboutthe transformation you bring,
not the spotlight you gain. Letme say that again. My friends,
your personal brand should beabout the transformation you
bring, not the spotlight yougain, you know? So share your

(08:49):
story, not to boast, but todemonstrate what's possible
through God's guidance andpower, right?
This is not something to be shyabout. Whatever gifting God has
given you share stories, sharetestimonials. Talk about the
transformation you've gonethrough and what your clients
have gone through or what youbelieve they can go through. If

(09:10):
they apply the things that Godshowed you as a solution for
society's problems. So here's apractical tip.
I want you guys, that, forexample, next time when you're
hesitant to post online, I wantyou to ask yourself, how can
this content serve someonetoday? You know, I try my best,

(09:32):
especially on my LinkedIn, mypodcast newsletter, things to
really under look back, look atall my posts. I'm like, is this
about me, or is this toencourage people, with their
journey or to serve them, solvea problem for them, or to, you
know, bring hope to them. Like, that is my end goal. And I don't

(09:55):
always get it right, but that'smy heart intention.
My heart's pure intention is tobe able to really help move my
brother or sister in Christ onthe other side, go closer to
their god given dream. Alright?Okay. Hope this is helping guys.
This is not gonna be a long one.
Don't worry. Alright. So let'sgo to number 3 and walking in

(10:17):
authority. You know, I want youguys to think about Daniel and
Babylon. He didn't announcehimself.
Right? His excellence hasintegrity and consistency set
him apart. The king noticed himbecause his work spoke volumes.
So your personal brand shouldreflect godly character,
consistent excellence, andwisdom in how you show up to

(10:40):
serve others. And you do that bywalking boldly in the authority
God has given you in whateverspace you are in.
You don't need to chaseopportunities. You have to let
your light draw them. Right? Iwanna say that again. You know,
a lot of times people, like, goafter everything that moves,
trying to sit at the righttables, trying to, you know,

(11:04):
join whatever fad that's goingon.
But in reality, you don't haveto go out chasing God is going
to draw them to you. If you justlet your light shine boldly And
and the way you do that is yougotta know what that light is.
Because a lot of times what Ifound is a lot of people don't
realize the cut the light thatthey even have. So it starts

(11:25):
with awareness. It starts withunderstanding your your gifting,
the seeds that God put inside ofyou, and it that comes through
knowing your identity in Christand not just, like, as a son and
daughter, but what he hasassigned you to do.
And this is a struggle that alot of the people I work with is
they're thinking, for example, they're pursuing to be an

(11:47):
accountant or pursuing to be acertain business because they
know it makes money, but ratherpicking a business that lines up
with who they are and what makesthem cry or what makes them
happy, like things that Godinnately put inside of them
versus just pursuing everythingthat could bring home the bacon,
you know, instead of pursuingwhat God naturally put inside of

(12:10):
them. Because what I found is ifyou chase money, money isn't
going to come. But if you chasepurpose, if you chase God's
calling, God's vision, moneywill follow, and he will provide
for everything you need toensure that the vision he put
inside of you comes to pass. Butif you chase someone else's

(12:31):
vision and not your vision, you're really gonna go against
the grain. You're going againstyour natural make.
You're going against, you know, his plans for you. So the
struggle is going to be real. Not to say that if you're
pursuing God's call, you'renever going to have struggles.
What you'll find is God willalways give you strategies to
overcome every single struggleif that is exactly where God

(12:53):
called you to be. So I'm gonnashare with you guys a framework
I call the light on a standstrategy.
Okay. You guys ready? Alright. So number 1, I want you guys to
focus on the clarity of yourmessage. I want you to write
down your god given mission.

(13:13):
K? Write down your god givenmission. This is something I do
with my clients and my groupcoaching and any client, that I
typically work with, especiallyif they don't really know what
they wanna do first. Okay? Iwant you to write out your god
given mission, and then I wantyou to identify who you are
called to serve.
Okay? Then I want you to write apersonal transformation story

(13:35):
that highlights God's power.Okay? So craft that out, pause
this podcast, and then comeback. Okay.
The second thing that I want youto do, welcome back, just
pretend you pause it. I want youto focus on consistent presence.
Okay. I want you to choose oneplatform where your audience

(13:58):
gathers. For me, that'sLinkedIn.
Okay. LinkedIn and my podcast.Okay. Those are 2 main things
that I do most of my messaging.Okay.
Then I want you to commit toshowing up regularly with,
whatever content that isrelevant to your particular
field. I want to engageauthentically and encourage

(14:22):
those who are listening to youor asking you questions. And I
want you to respond, right?Respond to questions or
messages, especially if theysend you any message. Like you
wanna connect with youraudience, just like Jesus said,
he didn't think he was betterthan everyone else.
He entertain even the Pharisees, the people who hated him. Right?
So don't be afraid to haveconversations. Alright. And I

(14:46):
wanted to end with proverbschapter 18 verse 16, where it
says a gift opens the way andushers the giver into the
presence of the great.
So what I want you guys to dofor your homework, yeah, I'm
gonna give you homework thisweek. Okay? I want you number 1,
I want you to audit your onlinepresence. And I want you to ask

(15:07):
yourself, are you showing upwith clarity and confidence? Are
you, is it always says, are youconsistent, right?
Are you doing the same? Is itclear what you do? Is it clear
who you serve? Right. All right.
Number 2, I want you to writeyour transformation story. What

(15:28):
has gone what has God done inyour life and the others need to
hear? Right? So what has Goddone in your life that others
need to hear? This is yourtestimony.
You know, the Bible says youovercome the enemy by the blood
of the lamb and your word of atestimony. So a lot of times

(15:49):
what I found is business ideastypically stems from a problem
you had that you had to solve orproblem other people have that
you had to solve or a problemthat, you know, exists that God
gave you an idea to solve. Okay?So there has to be some sort of
story why you're doing what youdo. If you are just picking

(16:12):
something random without any, pool to solve it, and you're
just picking it because, youknow, almost our online business
for the sake of doing an onlinebusiness and God never told you
to do it.
You're you are going against therough waters, my friend. Okay.
So really ask the Lord, is thisthe business you've called me to
do? And if it is, why and how?Right?

(16:39):
Okay. So number 3, the nextthing I want you guys to do is
to create one piece of contentthat serves your audience, one
piece of content, and just startposting even if it's once a
week. Alright? And then I alsowant you guys to engage with 5
potential clients or people inyour community. Do this on a

(16:59):
regular.
Start off by doing it once aweek, then you could do it twice
a week and then 30 times a weekand eventually, hopefully 5
times a week. Okay. And last butnot least, I want you guys to
share this episode with someonewho needs encouragement in their
business journey. Okay. Becausethis is something that I think a

(17:20):
lot of people forget.
You know, we are called to bethe light of the world, the sea
on the hill, the salt of theearth. We are not called to
blend in. We're called to standout. So I want you guys to
remember that. I want you guysto walk in that and remember
that your brand isn't about you.
Okay. It's about the people Godhas called you to serve. So you

(17:44):
have to step into your callingwith confidence. Okay. My
friends.
Well, let me go ahead and closein prayer. Heavenly father,
thank you for the gifts andcallings you place in our lives.
Give us boldness, Lord, to stepout in faith, share stories, and
serve with excellence. Make webuild businesses that glorify
you and leave lasting kingdomimpact in the mighty name of

(18:06):
Jesus. Amen.
All right. If this is somethingyou guys would like support in,
and this is something that youknow for a fact that God has
called you to do, but you justdon't really know how, join my
