Have you ever wondered what lurks in the deepest corners of your psyche? Join me, Jeffrey Brunk, as I journey into the shadow realm, guided by the powerful presence of the archangel Michael. In this episode of Everyday Shaman, I share my personal encounter with the shadow, exploring how it influences our lives physically, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. Through the lens of Carl Jung’s psychology, we’ll uncover the profound significance of balance between light and dark, illuminated by a striking vision of celestial bodies and a pathway of light.

Our exploration doesn’t stop there. We dive deep into the metaphysical confrontation with shadows, bringing to light the delicate balance required for light and darkness to coexist. Through a vivid narrative featuring a shadow named Absalom, we uncover vulnerabilities and test our strengths. Additionally, we reflect on the importance of stillness and inner voices, learning to embrace quiet guidance. As we conclude, I express my gratitude for our shared experience and set the stage for our next journey together. Peace.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello again everyone.
Welcome back to the EverydayShaman, glad to have you here.
I'm Jeffrey Brunk, your host, and I thank you for joining me.
This episode I really want tofocus on shadow.
It's important to do thatbecause shadow, if you know
anything about Carl Jung andshadow work on the psychology
end of things and how theyconnect to the spiritual side of

(00:23):
things as he understood them to, you'll understand.
Shadow basically can controlour lives.
It can cause problems in ourlives physically, emotionally,
spiritually, relationship-wise,any number of ways and there has
to be a balance and, as Imentioned in another episode
about my sacred space, there isa great imbalance between light

(00:45):
and dark within shadow in thisworld, in this universe and
beyond, within the earth, butmostly within us.
We, the people that are causingso many problems, being so
divisive, thinking we're allright about everything, thinking
that we can choose how peoplelive, how we choose for others,
but we also have the ability asindividuals to choose not to let

(01:07):
those things bother us, and weseem to forget that.
So I want to talk about shadowtoday, and what I want to do is
read a journey summary of my own.
Again, this took place not longafter the one about the sacred
space and I'm thinking that somethings within this they're
going to sound really farfetched and far out there.
And I say far out.
Some things within this they'regoing to sound really
far-fetched and far out there.
And I say far out, groovy man,you know to hippy-dippy, but

(01:29):
it's far out stuff.
And these journeys, when youget into the unseen realms, the
things that you see arefantastical at times and the
things you're told, no matter ifit's from a divine essence or
it's from an element of darknessor it's from part of the shadow
or the shadow of the divine.
There is so much more unseenand all around us than there is

(01:51):
seen with our eyes wide open inthe middle of the daytime.
So I want to read this summaryand in this summary again, if
you haven't listened to thepodcast about my sacred space,
it might help to listen to thatfirst.
It is my desire someone cangrasp something from this
journey, because it is shadow.
I journeyed to face the shadowand it was quite an experience.

(02:15):
So I'm going to read thejourney, every detail, since
this was my journey.
But I would like to hear fromlisteners if things within this
resonate with them somehow.
So this journey was taken onApril 24th of this year.
In the first journey, I arrivedwithin my sacred space, so to
speak, within seconds after thedrumming track began.

(02:36):
I say, so to speak, because inthe journey about my sacred
space, the sacred space haschanged from being a created
location that I would journey toto begin a journey, to get
information, to get guidance, tobeing a sacred space within
myself.
So I found myself sitting onthe large crystal structure that

(02:57):
had been created during theprevious journey and looking
straight ahead through that gapbetween the dunes, across the
shoreline and out into thevastness of the open water.
Above the water was a strangesight.
I was unable to determinewhether it was a sun partially
eclipsing a moon, or a moonpartially eclipsing a sun, or a
planet, or a planet eclipsing alarge star, or vice versa.

(03:19):
The strangest part of theobservation was that the two
astral bodies were rotating, onein a counterclockwise motion
and the other clockwise.
They were positioned in such away that they looked like one
was inside of the other, theoutermost point of the inside
body touching the other astralbody in a single point.
As they made the rotations, thetwo round astral bodies were

(03:41):
centered within my field ofvision, midway between the water
surface and a brilliantly bluesky.
After watching this for a fewshort moments, they began to
slowly descend and as theylowered the sky remained blue,
but near to the water's surfaceit darkened in the shades of
indigo tinted with orange, andthen, right at the water's

(04:01):
surface, it darkened into shadesof indigo tinted with orange,
and then, right at the water'shorizon, a thin strip of dark
gray.
The two forms lowered intowater's horizon in distance,
stopping their descent exactlyhalfway, in effect creating two
half circles.
And when they stoppeddescending they also stopped
rotating.
The edge of the inner circlewas touching the very top edge
of the outer circle.

(04:22):
The positioning of these halfspheres created a beam of light
that resembled a beam of lightfrom a flashlight, except that
it was in reverse.
The light coming from thespheres was broader at the
horizon and narrowed as it camecloser to where I was,
eventually coming to a singlepoint that ended at the base of

(04:43):
the amethyst's encrustedplatform and directly in front
of me.
So from my position, theperspective of this beam of
light was how it should appear,as it led back to the spheres,
so where I was sitting.
If I were holding a flashlight,it would go out in that
perspective, but it was theopposite.
It created a pathway of lightthat shimmered with a consistent
brightness from point to pointon the still water, and I was

(05:06):
attempting to understand theoptics of this when I felt a
commanding presence around me.
When I feel this presence, Inoticed that the beam of light
began to burn into the sand andwater, not literally burning,
but it creating a real pathway.
I can't explain how the lightcreated the pathway that
descended into the water, butit's a visual.
So there came a voice from thepresence that said follow the

(05:29):
path, but do not stray from thelight.
I had with me Furbas.
Now, furbas are three edgedgedblades, typically made of iron,
copper, steel, wood that I usein journeys for protection.
So I had one in each hand andthis presence spoke again,
saying be wary, but there willbe no battle.
I knew who this was and Ialready kind of knew just by the

(05:52):
presence Determined that it wasthe presence of Mikael or
Michael.
Those words were confirmationthat he was the presence.
He was not in physical form, but surrounding me.
He is a protector.
So I rose from that crystallinebench and I stood at the edge of
the circular platform.
The amethyst crystals thatsurrounded the platform emitted

(06:13):
a strange array of prismaticcolors as the light from the two
semi-spherical astral bodiesshone up through the amethyst.
Instinctively, I stepped fromthe platform onto the sand one
foot on either side of the pointwhere the light path began, and
then I began moving forward.
When the light path had becomewide enough for both feet, I

(06:33):
stayed within the lines and Iwalked towards.
The water passed through thedunes onto the shoreline.
The sand was soft and cool, butmy feet didn't leave
impressions.
As I neared the waterline, thelight seemed to create such a
brightness that it appeared asif the water was transparent.
The water was still there, butit was in a different state of
being or form.

(06:54):
It wasn't wet and didn't createany type of pressure the
farther I walked.
Now I'm walking down a slightslope, all while following the
path of light that gentlywidened as I continued along the
way.
So I reached a place where Icould see creatures on either
side of the path, and Iestimated I was maybe between
100 to 150 feet below what wouldhave been the water surface had

(07:15):
I been truly underwater.
The best way to describe what Iwas seeing is to say that it
was like being in an underwateraquarium, with the light that
was creating the pathway beingthe glass walls.
So on either side within thewater there were large creatures
with protruding lower jaws andlarge teeth, much like a large
fish, and others that were moreblob-like.

(07:37):
Ahead of me was another shadowymass.
It had no real form, but wasseated on a structure similar to
the crystalline structurewithin my sacred space.
This structure was solid andjet black, resembling onyx or
obsidian, and I was able tofaintly see the entire bent
structure through the shadowymass that was seated upon it.

(07:57):
And as I moved closer to thearea, I was reminded not to
stray from the path of light.
After that reminder, theshadowy mass spoke.
Usually, a shadow is going tolie or mislead.
It said well, either you arevery brave or very stupid, or is
it both?
They're synonymous for you, arethey not?
What makes you feel socourageous?

(08:18):
Is it that symbolic garment youwear or those ornate pieces of
wood?
The being was referring to theFurbis and the warrior's mantle.
I had stopped moving forward butstill felt Michael's presence,
which was reassuring, and Ilooked to both sides, seeing the
shadowy creatures moving fromside to side, then straight
ahead towards the shadow mass.
I then looked up and what I sawlooking up was that, although

(08:41):
the area when I stood was lit bythe light path, the area above
was murky.
So light above the surface wasstill visible, but it was muted
by a rather unappealing murky, grainy greenish tone.
And that green murkiness wasmet in a place just above where
the shadowy figure in front ofme was sitting by flowing thick
entwinement of weeds, seaweedand vines.

(09:03):
This conglomeration ofvegetation wasn't solid.
There were gaps between thevarying types of vines and weeds
that allowed light from abovethe surface to filter through,
further darkening the placewhere the shadowy form was
sitting.
Enough light was filteredthrough to allow me to see that
the shadowy form was also in aconstant flowing motion.

(09:24):
It wasn't solid and it wasn'ttransparent.
Basically it was a shadow.
When I realized that the formwas basically hiding beneath the
entangled vegetation, I heard asingle word, and the word was
Absalom.
It was Mikael that put the nameinto my head, a shadow element
that I'd encountered once before, also known as the shadow of
the divine.
At this point there began aback and forth exchange between

(09:48):
Absalom and myself, although Inever referred to it by name you
are nothing, no one of anyconsequence.
It said Perhaps you needsomething that I can provide to
you?
And I replied release the oneswho are meant to provide
betterment and help, that arestruggling with emergence.
They are being oppressed.
Release the ones who are meantto restore and maintain the

(10:10):
balance.
Absalom made a sound, arumbling that reverberated
throughout the area.
A rumbling that reverberatedthroughout the area, a rumbling
that reverberated through theareas outside of the beam of
light, creating vibrations thatwere low to the seafloor.
I believe that this was a laugh.
Based upon its response, I sortof understood this.
Everyone can create their ownshadows.

(10:31):
They are the only ones who canrelease those shadows.
It then asked me tell me whatwould you give to me in exchange
for allowing those to bereleased?
And I knew that it was tauntingme, testing me and trying to
find my weaknesses, which theshadow does.
It finds vulnerabilities andexploits them.
With this realization, wordsbegan flowing through me from

(10:53):
another source, and I believe itwas Jibreel, though there
wasn't anything other than theintensity and surety of the
words that were given to me thatcaused me to suspect it was
Jibreel.
I responded to the shadowyou're oblivious, aren't you?
You're being lied to by theaspect of yourself that is
attempting to feed lies to me.
It scoffed at my words, but itdidn't respond right away, so I

(11:15):
continued.
There's a great imbalance oflight and darkness.
There is no winner.
One can't exist without theother.
Consider this you are theelement of darkness that will
cease to exist, along with thevoid of darkness itself, should
the balance of light anddarkness collapse.
Without light, there is nothing, tell me, without light and

(11:40):
shadow would be the first to beconsumed.
So you are expendable.
Nothing means to an end, thatis an ultimate ending.
That makes you nothing.
So I was getting a little wordywith him right there.
I probably shouldn't have.
He was getting to me, which iswhat shadow does.
So he rose from the jet blackstructure when he was sitting on
, like it was going to approachme, and I could feel the rage

(12:02):
emanating from his presence.
And it's not often feel rage orfeel an intensity from a shadow
.
But I felt that, and so, when Isaw this, I lifted the Furbus,
raised them above my headtowards the entwined vines and
the seaweed conglomerate above.
So Michael had told me thatthere'd be no battle, so I
wasn't intending to try andtransmute.
My first thought when raisingthe Furbus was to use them to

(12:25):
slice the entangled vines, allowing more light from above
the surface that protected.
Absalom's shadowy form Shadow ofthe Divine immediately backed
away without even having movedforward towards me, and when I
saw this, I said fear is quite apowerful shadow element, isn't
it?
I probably shouldn't have saidanything to taunt it, but it
just came from me effortlessly.

(12:46):
The light within your darknesscauses you to experience the
very thing that you claim tocreate.
I run it.
I don't normally do this injourneys, so the shadow is
actually in a journey in anotherrealm, affecting me in my
ethereal form.
Its anger, combined with fear, was pulsing through the expanse

(13:07):
above and on either side of me,and he responded to my words or
it responded to my wordsbasically screaming you lie.
Do you see the hailstones thatsank to the floor?
They litter this place and thecreatures within the shadows nip
at and devour them withoutconsequence.
If what you say is true, thiswould not be possible.

(13:27):
These were the hailstones thatfell in the journey I'd
undertaken days prior to thisjourney.
The hailstones are ones thatare meant to be regaining and
maintaining balance betweenlight and dark and shadow.
Some choose not to, some chooseto heed that call Ones that
don't sink to the floor andthey're devoured by shadow.
And I replied you're right, that's because shadows require

(13:51):
light to exist, whether it'shere on the surface, even during
the darkest of nights.
Take away those morsels oflight and those creatures cease
to exist.
They become nothing, just asyou would do should the light
disappear.
And Absalom scoffed, this timewithout as much exaggeration and
anger I'd felt emanating fromit, relented, but the fear
remained.

(14:11):
The shadow, actually, the fearwithin the shadow was emanating
from the shadow.
What do you really want?
It asked, and it seemed togenuinely want an answer.
And I answered it isn't allabout wanting, it's about
requiring.
And it isn't about what Irequire, it's what is resolutely
required by everything, everyone and every place within

(14:33):
all of existence.
I then said however possible, lessen the lack of awareness of
the shadow aspects of those whohaven't fallen to the floor.
Around you, there are many whoare meant to restore and help
maintain balance between lightand dark.
Everyone and everything createmultiple shadows.
For you, there's nothing tolose when you do this.

(14:54):
If you refuse, you willeventually cease to exist.
Darkness knows this, divinelight knows this.
And with this statement, thedrumming callback began.
This time I wasn't pulledbackwards, but I turned and
walked the light path back tothe crystalline structure or
seat from where I began withinmy sacred space within, and I
sat down on the seat, closed myeyes and was brought back to my

(15:15):
physical self.
However, just before I returnedto my physical self, I heard
the words you do know that youneed to go back, don't you?
And when I heard this, therewas an urgency in the words.
I immediately let my wife knowthat I was going to do another
journey.
Right then I didn't get up fromthe table or come out of my
healing space.
I set the timer on the drummingtrack for a second hour and

(15:37):
immediately began anotherjourney.
What I was to experience duringthat leg was absolutely nothing
like the journey that I justnow summarized.
It was related and extremelymore intense.
There is a lot to unpack there.
I've unpacked it to a certaindegree.
There's always something thattakes a while to get Things

(15:57):
within the journey, that itsometimes takes days or weeks
even, because time is not linear.
Time is fluid.
There are no watches in theother realms, so I would like to
hear your questions or input ofany kind.
That's good with me too.
There's a lot here to unpackabout shadow.
We all carry shadow.
We are shadow.
Our ego is shadow.

(16:19):
Who we think we ourselves to beis shadow.
We let everything except ourown selves control our thoughts,
our actions, choices to findthose things within ourselves.
When we grasp those things ourweaknesses, our faults, the
guilts we may feel we graspthose and we embrace those

(16:39):
things and look at them as beingshadow elements of ourselves
that are pieces of a puzzle.
Then we use those elementsagainst darker elements.
We can put those in our arsenal, but we have to accept them as
part of who we are andacknowledge them the more aware
we become and the more theseshadow elements and shadow
aspects are unable to lead usastray.

(17:02):
So there's a lot to processthere.
I'll look forward to the thirdpart of this.
I do go into the darkness.
The first one I did because Ireally had the intention of all
right.
What now with the sacred space?
These others I was led to do?
I have learned to listen tothat whisper, listen to the

(17:22):
voices.
Don't get the boot.
Listen to the whispers, listenwith your ears and eyes closed.
Until next time.
Thank you for joining me andwe'll see you again soon.
Peace.
