The purpose of Levitical law was not to introduce arbitrary and oppressive religious rules onto the people of Israel, nor was the purpose of Levitical law to stroke God’s ego with intensive worship requirements. No, the purpose of Levitical Law was to give mankind a definitive definition for sin, sanctify the nation of Israel, and usher in the advent of the Redeemer – the One who would provide the means for man to fulfill God’s will.
