#5 - In conversation with Adrian Dean, the journey from comedian to barrister

For our last Family Compass of 2024, we sat down with Melbourne-based barrister, Adrian Dean. What we quickly discovered is that Adrian loves nothing more than a chat and he has some great stories to tell. Adrian is a member of the Family Law Bar Association, the Law Institute of Victoria and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. Before coming to the Bar, Adrian was a Senior Associate at Heinz Law, and he has extensive experience in complex property and parenting matters and regularly appeared as a solicitor advocate in court and mediations. 

Like most lawyers he knows, Adrian says he was attracted to the law due to a deep-seated desire to help people and he is particularly passionate about supporting his clients to navigate their way through the challenges they are facing, with a focus on a better future.

In a wide-ranging conversation, Adrian shares some of the lessons he has taken from his career in law, along with a few surprising reflections on his own life; including his alternate career as an actor and comedian.
