Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey everybody, Today I'm taking over the show. I'm Nash.
I'm talking about travel from a kid's point of view.
Episode starts now. Welcome to the Family Vacationer with Robin.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Tracy, your go to podcast for families on the moon. Hey,
they're family Travelers. Welcome back to the Family Vacationer episode.
I'm Rob and I'm.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Tracy, and today is a super special episode because we're
joined by someone who knows family travel from the inside out,
our very own son, Nash.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
That's right. Nash is nine years old and he's been
traveling with us since before he could talk. So today
we're giving him the mic to hear what travel is
like from a kid's perspective.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
We figured, if we're gonna talk about what makes a
vacation fun for the whole family, why not go straight
to the source exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Nash, Welcome to the podcast. We're happy to have you on, buddy.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Hi.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
All right, Nash, We're gonna start with the first question.
What's been your favorite, favorite, favorite, absolute favorite trip so
far that we've taken.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
You on the dustin Florida. One. You like the beach, yeah,
and I like spending time with the whole family.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Meaning not just mom and dad and brother and sister,
but grandparents.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Too and cousins.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
And so that one takes the cake over Pigeon Forge,
which you talk about Pigeon Forge all the time.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Well that's Chase.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Chase likes Pigeon Forge more.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Okay, all right, all right, So what do you think
makes a trip awesome for kids? Is it the hotel,
the food, or all the fun stuff we do or
all of it?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
It will definitely be the fun stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
So in Deston, what's your favorite thing to do?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Swim in the ocean with Maddox? What you like to
do when we go eat the ice cream? Like the
Superman ice cream. I always get.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
The one that colors your mouth and your face.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
What's your favorite fun thing that we do? Do you
like the go karts? The putt putt? I mean the
mini golf?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I like I remember like one time we went to
like Tennessee and we did this soccer golf.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Oh that wasn't in Orlando.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
That was actually a Disney World.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, Oh that was fun though.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
That was fun. Golf is fun.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Speaking of which you're so you're telling me Destin is
above Disney World I wouldn't say that, but you did
say that.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
No, I said Pigeon Ford, You said Pigeonbards was chased. Yeah,
But but I like Disney World the most because like
the star the Star Wars War stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
All right, So your favorite ride at Disney is is
the Star Wars rides?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah? The one that like was so realistic, like were
that we got to drive a drive a spaceship and
we had to dodge on like the obstacles and stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, that was fun. All right. What else do you
like about Disney World?

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Uh, all of the like the rides that like go
like upside down and stuff. And I like the one
that took us forward and then we did a loopy
loop when I sat next to guests and we looked
at my picture and I and I looked, this so weird.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Was that the Aerosmith ride? Maybe it was the was
the roller coaster? Yeah, it sounds like the Aerosmith ride,
which I think they're changing.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
And my second it was. My second favorite was the
Town of Tower of Terrors.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute, Wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I was streaming at the top of my.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Love Yeah, yeah, I don't from the story. Now, your
dad won't go on that ride. So you know, I'm
not making fun of you or anything. I am terrified
of it. Yes, I'm terrified of it, there is no doubt.
But the stories I heard, I find it questionable that
you think that was your second favorite ride.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Come on, well, my first favorite was the Star Wars one,
but my third favorite was definitely The Incredibles. The Incredibles, Yeah,
the Incredible ride.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
I don't remember there being an Incredible ride. There's Slinky
Dog Dash, which is the roller coaster there.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
You'll have y'all have Indonesia If that's what if that's
even called amnisia, y'all have amnesia.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
It's called old people.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Well you are old, you are okay, all right, all right,
let's let's let's let's bring this back. Tracy.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Okay. So if we said, hey, nowsh we're going on
a trip tomorrow, where would you want to.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Go that we haven't taken you yet?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
I would definitely want to go to the Disneyland in California.
I heard like that. There's a bunch of different rides
that are not in Disney World.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
They have a Car's Land, which they're building one in
Disney at Disney World now, yea.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
And I heard and I and I heard like in
California that there's a Los Angeles and there's like a
lot of like cool places to go, like bounty houses
and stuff or champoline houses whatever they're called in California.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
In Los Angeles. Yeah, okay, I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
And and I heard that they have like a French
dip sandwich that's really good.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Where did you hear that?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I did research online for my Gifted program.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
About French dip sandwiches.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
No about California.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Oh okay, okay.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
And there's like fresh seafood, so I get fresh Californian.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Rules, Okay, because it's in California, right, Well that makes sense. Sure, Okay.
You've been on a lot of road trips with our family,
So what are your best tips for other kids who
are going on long car rides? What should they do
to make the car ride a little bit easier?

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Uh, blast music in your car and dance as hard
as you can.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
And what if you have old parents that can't handle
all that alloud music?

Speaker 1 (06:59):
What do you do play on your iPad with headphones? Yeah,
that's what I do.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Do you have a favorite snack? Do you have a
favorite snack for to pack for the trip.

Speaker 1 (07:11):

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Veggie straws. Okay, well, I mean it could be worse
anything else. No, okay, veggie snacks it is, buddy.

Speaker 3 (07:25):

have a snack. All right, Let's do something. Let's let's
have a speed round.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
All right, I'm gonna name a place that we've taken
you before, and I want you to give me a
quick review of that place. Okay.

Speaker 2 (08:12):

We did a bunch of stuff when we were there.
Was there anything that you didn't enjoy?

Speaker 1 (10:50):

while you were watching something that got a little annoying.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Well, I remember you didn't care for the Titanic Museum.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
I think that was just all educational and it kind
of got boring for you. Yeah for a nine year old.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
But you loved the snow Mountain.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Kind of yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:12):

Speaker 1 (12:02):
They let us have another turn.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Yeah all right, Nash. If you could plan the perfect
day on vacation, what would it look like? Tell me
from the time that you wake up until the time
you go to bed, what's your perfect day of a vacation,
all the things that you would want to do.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
So I get up at six am.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Whoa, hey, hello, I would.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
I would get dressed to go to to go to
Disneyland and I would I would pack my things and
I would leave at six thirty and I would get
there at like five or four, four or five and

(12:47):
then and then I would do the the car's ride
and then I would go to bed or I would
go eat dinner and rou that a fresh seafood please,
And then I'm going street to bed at ten.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Are you staying up for the fireworks?

Speaker 1 (13:05):
No? What, I'm going to bed. I'm too tired.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
You played hard. Huh.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
All right, buddy, Well, tell me your least favorite part
about traveling.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Uh, it takes forever to get to where I'm going, Just.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Long hours in the car, being in the same spot.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Yeah, because like Ted destined, it took like seven hours.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
It does take a little bit. I think it's closer
to six. But you're right there at it, and you
love traveling with your brother.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
No, y'all never fight.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Never ever ever. All Right, I think it's time to
move on. Mom.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Definitely.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
What's something that you think that all parents should know
about traveling with their kids? What's something that you wish
parents would understand when they're planning the trap when we're
going on the trip. From your perspective, give us some advice.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Tell your kid to bring headphones so like you don't
be annoyed for like a couple of hours. Buy someone's
iPad or phone.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Okay, anything else about Let's say, when we get to
the beach or we get to Disney, what would you
like the parents to know.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Don't let your kid run away because then it could
get lost by the crowd of people.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
That's good advice.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Anything else, No, Hey, every time we go somewhere, don't
We always have like a place that we meet up.
If you did get lost, we have a place that
you would go to and you have to have a
secret code to.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Oh yeah remember that.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Me and dad once like he said, like, if you
ever get lost and someone says, hey, your dad came,
your dad told me to come and get you, Dad
would give him like the code, the secret code, and
then if you had the code, I would go to.
I would go with him. Yep.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
But if he didn't know the code, then what you
don't go?

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Do you?

Speaker 1 (15:19):
I'm running away? Yep.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
You find somebody that works in the park or wherever
you are, police officer yep. Well at Nash. You have

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
