• Everything that happens to believers must pass before God's throne of perfect peace
• Suffering reveals where we've placed our trust and provides an opportunity to grow spiritually
• Prayer is the most potent response to tragedy, followed by giving and blessing others

SPEAKER_01 (01:46):
Really talking about five amazing things you can do
as a mom as you face a new yearwith your kids.
And she is a world-renownedpersonal trainer, life coach,
and right from Mammoth,California, actually Crowley
Lake.
And so that's gonna happen nextweek.

(02:07):
You'll be hearing about it.
You can make sure you want tosubscribe to our channel to find
out when that comes.
You do not want to miss thatshow.
That's gonna happen next week atthis time.
And so today, I just uh want toshare a little bit about my
heart and what I think God'ssaying through just this

(02:32):
absolute craziness.
If you've been watching the newsat all, you've seen the fire
that's actually going on rightnow.
It's it's touching a lot ofpeople's lives.
And, you know, there's a lot ofblame shifting and and
everything.
Somehow, in the midst of all ofthis, the Lord's allowed all
this to happen and uh to teachus, and we're gonna look at uh

(02:57):
two scriptures that really kindof encompass understanding, you
know, why we go through the firesometimes in our life, why we we
go through loss, uh, why we gothrough things, and and and so
to kind of set this this wholething up is we've we've had just

(03:20):
uh a crazy time as a family.
How many of you got crazy times, right?
On uh Christmas Day, a driver inwhich we think a fake Uber car
came up and stole all mygrandkids' presents.
While they were opening up theirpresents from us, their presents

(03:41):
from their grandmother andgrandpa at the other house here
in Southern California werestolen out of the car.
Yours truly put on his NFLjersey, called the police, and
we tried to track down becausethe the e-fob on the car was
showing us where they were.
Well, we never got them.

(04:01):
We they ripped it off and threwit in the in the thing.
So I don't know what I wouldhave done, but I put on my
jersey and I was thinking aboutuh quite honestly kicking butt.
Okay.
And so that's just the way itis.
Hey Natalie Friesen, love you,sweetheart.
One of my daughters in inSweden, she's just amazing, just

(04:21):
absolutely beautiful,extraordinary, loves Jesus.
So, in the midst of that, youknow, that was a shocker to us,
and and uh which we know theenemy loves to attack and
assault, and uh and and then andthen this this crazy you know

(04:44):
time with the fires and and justabsolute devastation happening.
It's still going on.
They ran out of water from thelakes, which I think you run out
anyway with this kind of a fire.
And though I do think thegovernor needs to be fired
immediately.
Don't want to overly get uhpolitical here, but uh nobody's

(05:07):
happy with him right now.
But in the midst of all that,we're we're we're there, and uh,
one of the things that makes itso tender to me, and yours
truly, is my son Edward's homein Pacific Palisades is no more
in one of his cars.

(05:28):
And uh we uh he was actuallyback east, had the honor of
being at the the ringing of thebells at New York Stark Exchange
with his group and uh beinghonored back there.
And at the same time the firestarted on Monday, and uh
everything that he had and ownedwas taken away within within

(05:52):
within a day.
The incredible, beautiful uhcommunity, creative community, a
lot of Hollywood people and allkinds of uh different
backgrounds and political, youknow, aspirations and things.
Everything was taken, was isgone.
A lot of things are very fewhouses remained.

(06:15):
You watch them on the news, it'sjust uh gut-wrenching.
And if you've gone through timeswhere you've lost something or
is stolen from you, you know, you get angry.
You just you're wondering whywhy, God, why do you let
something like that happen?
And and so we get a call fromEdward that their their nanny

(06:39):
that was taking care of theirkids is is is leaving.
They're evacuating, SantaMonica's evacuated and in all of
Pacific Palisades, and so wewent out to rescue our
grandchildren and bring themback to our house.
Of course, they still don't knowwhat's going on, they're still
little and in the in the midstof the process, but you get you

(07:00):
really get tested, not in thetimes of prosperity, you get
tested when you're when thingsare taken away.
And uh because it it shows youwhere you put your trust many
times, and things are things, but the life of my grandchildren
is just extraordinary, them thembeing safe and cared for.

(08:36):
And what a what a sudden thingto do.
I mean, imagine what people wentthrough in Florida and the last
hurricane, and those people, youknow, in Mississippi and
Georgia.
When these things come, theythey rock us, you know.
And uh, and if they're yourchildren, they just because you

(08:57):
feel sometimes like as a dad ora mom, they you wish you could
have protected them.
Welcome, Miss Kay, and and uhgot a holloway in the house.
And you know, and there's a alot of a lot of people, and you
know, it's also fascinating thateven though the devil means

(09:18):
things for evil, and thescenario of loss and fire and
everything up, I wouldn't eversay that this is a judgment of
God.
What happens is sometimes we getwe're in the midst of a
spiritual warfare, and and andthe good and the and and those

(09:38):
that aren't following the Lordget hit.
So a lot of wonderful godlylovers of Jesus lost their their
home and their schools and theirtheir relationships, and and
it'll probably take three tofive years to to restore
whatever could be restoredthere.

(10:00):
And yet in the midst of that, what do you do?
Because it happens on the youknow that things come.
What happens is that when thereare moments, so you might you
might have some people who getonline and begin talking about
the judgment of God.
It's not that way.

(10:20):
Hey Judy, good to be with you.
She's one of my favorites thereand that's down south, and uh
down there when the fish are bigand the sun shines always.
And and Judy is one of my heroesfrom the watching the way she

(10:40):
actually had to walk throughjust the fire of her husband
almost dying and then having tobury him early.
And so we all have to deal withloss.
We all have to deal with thingsthat are just uh too much for
us.
So when you feel that, what doyou do?

(11:01):
Where do you go?
You can I I can tell you rightnow, moms, you can watch a
thousand Hallmark movies, you'renot gonna feel any better.
What we're uh but what we dohave to do is we can turn to a
powerful truth that uh is in thebook of Romans that I want to

(11:24):
thank thank you, Justin, forpraying for us and appreciate
that.
That really does speak toheaven's view and Paul writing
to the church in Rome.
And the church in Rome waspersecuted, uh, Christians were
killed, they were put on displayin the arenas, slaughtered,

(11:46):
babies were being aborted ingruesome ways, and yet the
church, out of the ashes of allthat persecution, became
stronger and more powerful.
And that's amazing.
And uh Judy put a it's a greatuh Herzog gives a great piece of

(12:08):
wisdom that when you go througha hard time, you you go to the
throne and not the phone.
That's Judy.
I it's one thing I love abouther.
She's she set her face to followJesus no matter what happens.
And they got they went through alot in their life, their

(12:29):
businesses, all those kind ofthings.
And so, what do you do?
So let we're gonna turn to thisverse right now and and kind of
talk it through.
And it comes from Romans 8, 28.
And we're gonna do two verseshere.
And it says this that it saysthat, and we know for those who
love God.

(12:49):
So Paul's writing this to uhfellow Christians who
understand.
This is for the whole world, buthe's writing this to the church
in Rome that's under attack, that's marginalized.
He's actually writing from aprison cell because Nero hated

(13:10):
what he did.
They he tried to stopChristianity from growing.
They thought that if they killedthe Christians and and tortured
them in public in the arenas, that they would recant their
their relationship with God.
Didn't didn't happen.
And he writes that, and we knowbecause they have this history

(13:34):
of how God answers the stormfrom the ashes in our life.
And and you you might have gonethrough, I I coach a number of
moms who are now single moms aswell, who are trying to raise
their kids and their husbandsgone.

(13:54):
Sometimes they die, sometimesthey they try to kill the
marriage and and leave, have anaffair.
And they live in this theseashes, or they've lost their
their husband and now they'realone.
And they go, How do I how do Ideal with this?
Well, you know, Paul's wisdomhere, we know that for all those

(14:17):
who love God, it's I mean, therequirement to be in this place
and this revelation of this isthat the most important thing
that you nurture in your life isthat no matter what's going on,
no matter what the devil throwsat you.

(14:37):
And matter of fact, this versethat I'm teaching you today is
my son Edward's birthday.
And he was born on August the8th, August the 28th.
So he's our 828 baby.
And he actually called me when Iwrote a devotional about this
yesterday on our free devotions.
If you even don't get those,we'd love to send them to you.

(14:59):
And it's all about how God meetsus.
Because we know that those wholove God, all things work
together for good.
I want to understand, I want youto understand what that word
means there in the Greek.
It's not a it's not, it's it'snot a word that's that's uh
flippant by Paul.

(15:20):
It's not a word that is, ohyeah, everything's just gonna be
great.
You're just gonna feel sowonderful, everything's gonna be
so good.
But it's a word that actuallycomes out of your mouth after
God begins to show you throughthe process of his presence in
your life how he is working allthese things through your life

(15:44):
to do something so profound anddeep inside of you, beloved one,
that you look back and you youthank him.
And I remember when I I got ataste of this from somebody who
I love so much, JeannieAnderson, who's in heaven, and
she got cancer early, and I'm inthe uh I'm in the cancer ward

(16:08):
with her, and she invited me tocome down, and and and it's this
arena on Paul Springs, and it'sa it's kind of a semicircle of
gals with breast cancer gettingchemo all together in a room.
And she invited me down and shesaid, I want you to come down
because I have a friend thatmeets me right next to me who

(16:31):
gets chemo at the same time I doevery week.
And I want you to come and sharethe love of Jesus with her.
And I want you to share the loveof Jesus with all the all the
women in this half circle.
And many of them had scar headsand they, you know, lost their

(16:52):
hair because of the chemo, andtheir bodies were racked with
the effects of the treatment andalso cancer in their life.
And it's going through andloving and blessing each one of
these girls.
It was extraordinary.
And we're driving home in thecar, and we go actually go by
this gal's house who had nevermet Jesus, and her husband had

(17:15):
been saved, and she gave herlife to Christ.
She was from a Jewish backgroundand realized that Jesus really
was the Messiah.
And she received Yeshua into herlife and was saved, and the
Spirit of God just filled herand gave her a great season

(17:36):
after the chemo.
She ended up eventually dying ofcancer, but she she ended her
life with this incrediblesupernatural joy that only God
can work inside of us.
So we're driving home in a CarWegini, and she's and she says,
I've never felt more loved.

(18:01):
And I'm so glad that the Lordgave me the gift of suffering
with this cancer, and it justfloored me.
She's living out of that word, she works all things out for
good because it's not good.
There's nothing good aboutlosing a child or losing someone

(18:21):
early.
Just know what he's doing.
He's not being flippant becausehe's setting us up for what that
good means in verse 29.
We'll be there in a second.
Works out all things for good tothose who are called according
to his purposes.
See, there the the only hope forsomebody who loses everything is

(18:44):
not that the government mightcome through and repair your
home.
Or there's insurance money.
You'll never be able to get backthe memories.
The artwork, the the treasures.
I mean, imagine all the artworkthat was lost and the treasures
of families and the pictures, the legacies.

(19:06):
They're just they're they'rebrick and mortar and wood and
and they all they all blow up,they all burn up.
But the secret of being able tosurvive a time like that is
living your life and the purposethat he's made you for.
Where you're discover, you'rediscovering and you're staying

(19:28):
in that place where you'reyou're about loving other people
for Jesus' sake.
And it's a it's a powerful placebecause the devil, no matter
what he throws at you, can'ttake away God's purposes that he

(19:49):
has made your life for.

(20:31):
But when you understand thatyou're called to God's purposes,
no matter what you're goingthrough, that all things are
going to work out for good.
Because, see, when God puts apurpose on you, puts a plan on
you, puts a hope in his heartthat your life will meet with

(20:52):
everybody that you meet, he'sgot your back.
And there is no arbitrary attackthat comes your way that doesn't
first have to pass before thethrone of heaven.
Matter of fact, in the book ofRevelation, there's this
incredible picture of before thethrone, and the apostle John

(21:15):
sees into the heavens and seesthe throne of God, and there's
this beautiful sea of glass withnot a ripple of wave on it.
If you've ever gotten a lake,and it's like you don't know
where the mountain starts andthe earth starts.
And a sea of glass.
I remember reading that and justunderstanding that there's not

(21:39):
anything that comes to my lifeor to your life that doesn't
first have to pass through thatperfect peace that the throne of
heaven lives in.
And so he's not overwhelmed.
This heaven is not like, oh mygoodness, look at the the water
shortage and all these things.

(22:00):
God has got a plan to work thisout for the good that he wants
to work into our lives and he'susing people.
And when people get angry or getsideways or they blame God for
those things, you can miss thisincredible purpose he has for
you.

(22:20):
And so when something hard comesyour way, it has to go past that
perfect throne of peace.
And guess who's on that throne?
You got God the Father and Hisright hand.
We have Yeshua, Jesus Himself, sitting on the throne, and the

(22:42):
Holy Spirit, the triune God.
Everything that happens to yourlife has got to go past that
place of peace, perfect peace.
And so that's a great comfort tome that when I'm going through
it, or when you're going throughit, because we're called
according to his purposes, thathe's gonna work out in us

(23:05):
through the good, bad, and theugly times, that he's gonna do
that in our life.
And Paul goes on.
So let's learn what the good'sall about.
It's the next verse.
For those whom he foreknew.
So, what's the good?

(23:25):
The good isn't a feel-good word.
The good is that it points youto the person you're gonna
become.
Because right here is what hesays, for those whom he
foreknew.
He knew you and I before hesaid, Let there be light.
So he knew us, he planned onwhat you're going through.

(23:46):
And if you're in LA right now,he planned for all of these
things.
He's got provision for you, he'sgot community for you, he's got
all the things that you need torebuild your life.
Maybe you're going through it inyour life, and there's other
places in this country.
You feel marginalized ordemonized by people or
separated.

(24:06):
God's working out those thingsfor his good.
And here's the good, whom thosehe foreknew, he predestined.
So he's predestined us.
Which means when he chose youbefore the foundation of the
world, he already determinedwhat you would look like.
And this is what it is that youone day will be conformed to the

(24:28):
image of his son Jesus.
When he's done, you're gonnalook just like Christ.
No matter what you're goingthrough, you're gonna look just
like him.
And suffering is a part of this.
Hey, Mr.
Manzio, love you so much.

(24:48):
The suffering that you gothrough in your life is part of
God's way of shaping you and getthis: not to trust in this world
where our foundation is not onstreets made with concrete, but
our foundation in heaven arestreets that are are made with

(25:10):
gold.
It's kind of like, I don't knowif you heard about the guy who
you know went to heaven and hehad a big bag of bricks, and
he's dragging them up the stairsat the pearly gates, and and St.
Peter's there, and he goes,Well, what's this?
He goes, Well, I have a gift forGod.

(25:31):
I was a wealthy man, and I Imelted down all I took all of my
wealth and made gold bricks, andI thought I'd bring them to give
them to God as an offering.
And the angels were curious, andthey flew over.
And as they opened the bag, theylooked down and they went, Road
bricks?
He's bringing road bricks intoheaven?

(25:52):
Because the streets are alreadypaved.
They're already paved.
Maybe you're suffering, you havelost, maybe you're in LA right
now, and you're you can't makeheads and tails of all of this.
Well, he works all things outfor good to those who love God.
Your protection is to love himand and and who are called

(26:16):
according to his purpose.
And you love him and you followhim in the way he's made you
for.
And then, but the good is forthose he foreknew, he
predestined to be conformed tothe image of his son.
Matter of fact, there's anotherscripture in the Bible that says
that when we're caught up oneday and we go to see him when we
die, we're gonna see him as hereally is because we're gonna be

(26:39):
just like him.
So the good that God is workingout in you over the suffering
that you're going through, overthe suffering that our family's
going through, is that it'sgonna make us more like Jesus,
which is his ultimate goal, inorder that uh he might be the

(27:03):
firstborn of many brothers.
Because see, everything that Goddoes, he does because he loves
his son, and his ultimate lovefor us was to turn us and not
only save us from our sin, butto turn us into the image of his

(27:26):
son, that he might conform ourlives through the hard things,
the loss, the good, bad, andugly to become more like Jesus.
And so my trust today is that myfamily, my sons, and my
daughters, and my my grandkidshave had uh of the we have a we

(27:50):
have a big group, we have 14grannies, and we had uh seven
here uh last night, and it wasit was holy happy bedlam.
And uh and so they're all gonnafind out tonight about what's
happened to their homes and alltheir things.

(28:11):
And I I won't forget just amoment with my daughter, one of
those profound things that youhave with Jessica after we
discovered, I told you earlier, that my grandkids' uh Christmas
presents were stolen by somebodyout of the back of her car on
Christmas Sunday morning whilethey're opening their new

(28:31):
presents from us, is Jessica gotthem in a circle around the
Christmas tree.
And they all grabbed hands andthey forgave the thief.
You know, honestly, my heart atthat time, before that moment

(28:54):
and and uh and looking at that, hey Whitney Music Media, she's a
majing uh Whitney, what a greatworship leader you are.
My heart wasn't to forgive thefeet.
I actually, to tell you thetruth, when I saw the the keyfob
going up the mountain is whoeverstole my kids' grand, my

(29:18):
grandkids' presents, I put on myNFL football jersey and and my
make a father's grade again hat.
I was gonna go kick some butt, okay?
Excuse me, gals, yeah, you know, but don't you want your husband

(29:38):
to have some d-dun to dunce whenthe time's right?
So I was like, somebody's goingdown.
I was pissed.
And so my wife says, use somewisdom and call the police,
which we did.
And I'm so glad I called him.
Well, we didn't, we found thekeys run out of the car.
Actually, tracker.

(30:00):
From the how we found the tilethey threw out of the car that
we were able to track.
And I sort of laughed at myself.
And you know, God reminded me ofthat verse, it's not by my might
or power, but by my spirit, saysthe Lord.
And when we're in these times,it's so easy for us to engage

(30:23):
our flesh or as a mom to turninto a bear about all these
things.
But this is the best time tolean in and be captured by the
one who absolutely loves you, that knew you before you were
born, who called you accordingto his purposes, who put the
life of Christ inside of you sothat you could rise up and be

(30:47):
the mama that God has called youto be for your kids.
And I can't tell you I'm soproud of Kate.
One of my daughters married tomy son Edward and Jessica and
Mary Lee.
They're just incredible, godlywomen.
And I'm so proud of my wifewatching her just trust the Lord

(31:12):
in the midst of all this.
Because there's probably nothingthat's that's harder for us as
grandparents than when ourgrandkids are suffering.
And even the bee came in tothrow a little persecution our
way.
But all that to say is that areyou in a place right now where

(31:32):
you need prayer?
And Judy had it right, you know, you you go to the throne and not
to the phone.
And appreciate all you that arepraying for our family.
Bless you, Michelle.
You're just one of my faves, too.
And you're a man, incredible.
And and so I want to pray foryou.

(31:55):
Maybe you maybe you're uhwatching from LA, maybe you're
gonna get this sometime, others, and or you you're right now and
you feel the ashes around you,and there's little hope.
So why don't we pray together?
And so if you're in a place ofblessing, would you just raise

(32:15):
your hand with me for those thatwe're praying with?
And just because there's nothingmore powerful for us than when
we enter into the real battlethat changes the nature of the
game for people who have lost.
And that's two ways.
Number one, we pray, and numbertwo, we give and we bless.

(32:35):
So, Father, I just thank you forthose that are watching.
I thank you for that all thingsare gonna work together for your
good, and you're gonna make themmore like Jesus than they were
before this battle started intheir life.
And Father, we we come togetherand we pray for LA that's still

(32:55):
on fire.
Father, bring your bring youryour rain, bring stop these
winds.
Lord, uh fill up these lakes, dowhat only you can do.
And Lord, bring healing to thesecommunities, and as they come,
rise up out of the ashes, maythe revelation of love of Jesus

(33:17):
be poured out through yourchurch into the hearts of all
these people that have so muchloss.
And so, Lord, I pray that youwould just be with them.
I pray you would just uh touchthem.
I pray your Holy Spirit wouldfall and that out of this a
revival, Lord, a holy revivalwould would be birthed, Lord,

(33:43):
once again.
Just like the great fire in SanFrancisco.
A holy fire of revival happenedafter a great fire of
destruction.
And uh you responded fromheaven, Lord.
I pray you to pour your spiritout on your church again.
Wake your church up, Lord.
Get your church out of the placewhere they've left the word of

(34:07):
God that they would begin topreach it.
Wake up your pastors and yourleaders.
Lord, touch them, use them.
Lord, I pray that you we couldbe the church the way you have
called us to be.
I pray, Father, I pray you'd dothat.
I pray you would use me in mylife and what we're doing, and

(34:28):
use my brothers and sisters intheir life.
And I pray that you would grabtheir hearts so significantly
that they they see sufferingdifferently and they rejoice
when they suffer, like Jesuscalled them to, because we're
trusting in you, and we're nottrusting in our in the world.

(34:50):
And so, Lord, I ask you to blessthese families.
I ask you to pour out yourspirit upon all those churches
in LA, all those Santa Monicachurches, all those places,
Lord, that are still standing.
Fill them, Father, and use themin profound ways.

SPEAKER_00 (38:41):
Bye.
Dear friends, imagine a worldwhere every father feels
equipped to lead with faith, love, and purpose.
A world where families thriveand communities grow stronger
because of devoted,Christ-centered fathers.

SPEAKER_01 (38:57):
You know, beloved, that is the vision that God's
put in my heart for every singlefamily.
You know, he is on the move, Ibelieve.
He promises in Malachi thatbefore the great and coming day
of the Lord, he's gonna dosomething profound.
He's gonna turn the hearts offathers back towards their

(39:19):
children.
So the hearts of their childrenwill turn back to their father.
That's what God is doing.
I meet dads daily who want tolearn to be better fathers.
Yet many have never been shownhow.
Too many families are beingfractured through bitterness and
with parents and grandparentseven being canceled.

(39:41):
That's why we're launching anonline community to quit men to
be the fathers that God hascalled them to be.
It's more than a program, it's apart of a movement that God is
already doing to reshapefatherhood.
It's a sacred calling rooted inthe teachings of Christ.

(40:02):
And we're calling this theFatherhood Academy, where men
will embark on a journey ofhealing and spiritual
restoration that helps themtransform their family
relationship.
And to make this vision areality, would you consider
partnering with us financiallyas we continue to reach and

(40:26):
disciple every man, dad, andgrandpa that comes our way?
Your donation will help create aripple across the neighborhoods,
communities, you know, andultimately our nation.
Anchoring each child here'sdivision and the unwavering love
and guidance of a devoted dad.

(40:49):
Your end-of-the-year gift rightnow, whether it's a one-time
donation or an ongoing pledgemonthly, will make a huge
difference.
Together we can equip fathers tobuild hope-filled futures for
their children and theirgrandchildren.

(41:09):
Remember, my friend, the Fatherloves you, and he sent his son
to let you know.
Pray it for you, Pastor Ed.
