Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alright.
Well, in this episode, I wannatalk to you about five key
benefits of using short formvideos for your business.
Now if you've been following mefor any length of time, you
know that I love video.
I believe that video is thecornerstone.
Of every good online marketingstrategy.
It has to start from video.

(00:22):
Video is the number one mostconsumed type of content online.
It is by far the dominant formof content anywhere.
Now, of course, people read.
They do other things online, but when it comes to content
creation, video is a major majorplayer and that's not gonna

(00:43):
stop or go away anytime soon.
Now, before I start talkingabout the benefits of short form
video, I do wanna tell you aswell that I still very much
believe in long form video.
There's always going to be aplace for long form video.
It's one of the primary reasonsthat TikTok has opened it up
for people to be able to shareten minute videos on TikTok.

(01:06):
Is because they know and theyunderstand that there is a huge,
huge reason for long form videoand that people still consume
it at a huge, huge rate.
However, over the last severalyears in unless you've been
completely living under a rock, short form video has been one of
the dominant ways that peoplelove to consume content.

(01:28):
It's they, you know, they canconsume it in bite sized chunks.
There's so many ways that youcan create it.
And in this podcast episode, Ireally wanna talk to you about
the five key benefits to it.
So we're gonna dive right inand we're gonna get right into
it.
So the number one thing aboutshort form video is the

(01:50):
engagement is much higher withshort form video.
I was just reading an articlerecently that talked about how
short form video got a hundredand fifty percent more
engagement than long form video.
So that was pretty astoundingto read.
And one of the things that Ithought was so incredible about

(02:11):
that is because, you know, we wedefinitely have more of a
attention span issue today thanwe did just a few years ago.
A lot of people contributed todifferent reasons who knows But
here's what I do know, is thatattention spans aren't really
necessarily shorter.

(02:33):
This is what I believe, maybein my opinion.
But I believe that people'sattention spans are there and
they will watch something ifcontent is good.
If the content's not good andit doesn't grab their attention,
then they're gonna be off tothe next thing.
So I know for me.
I will watch a long form video.
I will watch a longer video ifit holds my attention.

(02:55):
If it holds my interest, I'llwatch it.
All day long.
If long form content was notgood, then why would people go
and watch a two and a half threehour movie?
You know, so the the key hereis that you gotta understand
where they are, but there's moreengagement on short form videos
because it's bite sized.
It's little chunks ofinformation that people can get

(03:18):
and they can, you know, kindathrow their hand up and say, oh,
I really like this.
They can like it, they canfollow you, they'll comment,
things like that.
So that is a huge benefit ofshort form video is that it is
giving you increased engagement, which if you do any type of
paid marketing, that iscertainly a good thing because a
lot of platforms especiallyFacebook allow you to retarget

(03:41):
people who engage with yourcontent.
So you could technically putout videos, especially short
form videos as we're talkinghere.
And you can retarget the peoplewho engage with those videos
with your ads, which makes itvery, very powerful.
Alright.
So let's move on to number two.
And let's this is brandawareness.
And really, there's a coupledifferent strategies that people

(04:05):
tend to look at with short formvideo.
I really personally I like tothink of short form video as
more of a brand awareness tool, even though you can generate
lots of leads with it.
I like it as a brand awareness.
In brand awareness, let me giveyou an example.
A few years ago, I was talkingwith somebody who I know who
runs an agency.

(04:25):
And they were doing some adsfor a car company.
Okay?
A big big name car company.
And they were given the redlight to run these thirty second
ads all over the place.
And so the question then was, well, what kind of an ROI are we

(04:45):
hitting?
What what kind of statistics orstats are we looking to achieve
with putting us out there?
And they basically said, wedon't care.
We just want you to run it, getas many impressions, and as
many views as you possibly can.
And what came to mind was, isthe reason that they're doing
this is because they know thatevery, you know, four to seven

(05:07):
years, everybody's looking for anew vehicle.
K?
That's the typical time frame.
And people are looking for anew vehicle they know that if
they can just get out like mass, you know, mass exposure, they
want you to be top they wanna betop of mind when you decide to
go buy a new car.
So they put all these thirtysecond commercials, fifteen

(05:28):
second commercials.
And they're just little littlehits of information.
And what happens is when yousee those little bits of
information, it kind of implantsitself in the subconscious of
the person that sees it.
Have you ever been, you know, kind of walking around the house
and you hear like music faintlyin the background and you're

(05:50):
not even really payingattention, but next thing you
know, you're actually hummingthe music, you're singing it,
It's because that music in thebackground was entering your
subconscious when you didn'teven realize it.
And then once it came to theforefront of your conscious
mind, you started singing it andsinging along and doing all
those things.
That's because it was kind ofin the background.

(06:11):
That's kind of the idea betweenmass exposure when it comes to
brand awareness.
So short form video can be agreat tool for brand awareness
and getting people to know whoyou are, what you represent, and
that's one of the cool benefitsof short form video.
So number three is quick, it'squick and easy to produce.
One of the cool things about itis that you could literally

(06:35):
create probably five to sevenvideos in the same span that you
can create one long form videoand then maybe edit it.
Okay?
And that makes it a verypowerful medium right there.
And so they're quick and easyto produce.
They're not hard.
A lot of these platforms likeTikTok and Instagram and and

(06:57):
YouTube, they're giving youediting capabilities right
within the app.
I will say at the time of thisrecording at least, I think
TikTok has some of the bestediting features in their app.
There are the third party appsthat you can use YouTube's
editing, you know, capabilitiesin their app for short form

(07:18):
videos is really kind oflackluster, really not that
great.
At least from what I've seen, maybe I don't understand it
completely.
I don't know.
But and then Instagram isdefinitely getting better and
Facebook as well.
So they're cheap and easy it'squick and easy to produce.
It's it's really fast to do,and that's kind of the goal of
these platforms.

(07:38):
They just want you to createcontent and get it out there and
they're trying to make it aseasy as possible for you to do
that because they know thatthat's gonna hold people on
their platforms.
So it's quick and easy toproduce.
You can come up.
If you're out one day andsomething hits your head like,
oh, I'd love to share that withmy audience.
You can kick on the camera andmake that video real quick.

(08:00):
Okay?
It can be less than sixtyseconds.
You can save it and then goback later and edit it or you
can do it right there and postit.
That's really the idea thatthey want.
Alright?
So let's move on to number fourand it's improved social media
presence.
That's number four becauseright now all of these platforms
continue to push short formvideo.
Now, You know, TikTok obviouslyis a video platform.

(08:22):
They're gonna push it Facebook, which is definitely more than
just a video platform.
But they are pushing short formvideo in a huge way.
Instagram as well, notInstagram obviously is also a
photo sharing app.
But reels are really huge overthere.
And of course, photos still are.
Instagram is still a photo'sapp.
I think for a little bit there, they were going through

(08:45):
identity crisis.
They weren't sure, like, ifthey were a photo sharing app or
a video app.
And it seems like they've kindabalanced things back out a
little bit.
I'm seeing definitely a lotmore images on Instagram than I
used to.
I used to be all video therefor a little bit, and a lot of
people are complaining about it.
So they've kinda, I think, struck that balance, and it
seems like they're kind of backto being both.

(09:07):
But make no mistake about it.
Reels are a definite way togain exposure on Instagram.
And same thing for YouTube.
YouTube is really pushing shortform video right now.
Of course, the cool thing is isthat you've got long form video
and short form on YouTube andit allows you to really you
know, kind of capitalize on both.

(09:28):
But improved social mediapresence is a huge reason for
that.
It is one of the key types ofcontent these platforms are
pushing, so you wanna make surethat you understand that as well
.
And without question, it is themost cost effective way to
create content.
That's number five is that it'scost effective.
If you are creating videos andyou would send them out to a

(09:51):
video editor, it could cost youa lot of money to have a video
edited.
Okay?
Because it's time consuming, unless you do it yourself, of
course, but you're still paying, you're just paying with your
time.
And but short form video isjust a different deal today.
Like I said, with all the inapp editing capabilities, you
can almost just do stuff on yourown in just a matter of minutes

(10:14):
and still get the content outthere.
And that's the cool thing aboutit.
So it's very cost effective forthe individual entrepreneur
that really just wants to getcontent out there and wants to
get their videos seen and shown.
So very, very, you know, greatthing about the short form video
are those five points.
So increase engagementDefinitely a great way for you

(10:36):
to get more engagement.
Number two, brand awareness.
Number three, it's quick andeasy to produce.
Number four, it's improvedsocial media presence.
And number five, it's one ofthe most cost effective ways to
get videos out there.
So my big question for you is,are you capitalizing on short
form video?
If you are not, then you wantto make sure that you check out

(10:59):
what it is that I've got comingup.
We start on July thirty firstcalled the micro video challenge
.
Go over there, check out themicro video challenge, get
registered, go through it, andit will certainly educate you
and help you to create morecontent in the short form way of
video.
Alright?
So we will see you in the nextepisode.

(11:20):
Don't forget, you rock.
Bye bye.
