How do we create a place where students can feel like they are good at something in the classroom and can find meaningful employment? That’s what inspired Randy when he was a high school woodshop student to dream of a day he would become a woodshop teacher himself. Getting hired a week before the covid shutdown meant he had to learn to pivot early on, but providing kits for students allowed them to have hands on experiences even at home. Randy has embraced Skills USA, a Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that offers students leadership opportunities as well as an opportunity to compete with other students across the state and beyond. His students also showcase their work at the County Fair, building their real world skills for an authentic audience. As folks in these trades retire there are few skilled workers ready to take their place - and these programs are a perfect way to prepare students for the openings expected as many experts leave the field to the next generation.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
