What happens when a long-held belief, rooted in childhood, is suddenly unraveled? Join us on this emotional journey as I recount my profound experience with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) guided by the incredible Laurel Wiers. In a recent recording session for the Tuttle and Kline podcast, Tim and I delved into a candid discussion about how confronting a pivotal moment from my past has reshaped my self-perception. With Laurel Wiers’s expert guidance, I revisited a 13-year-old trauma, revealing the origins of self-doubt, and the constant feeling of inadequacy that shadowed me for decades.

Discover how this transformative therapy not only brought clarity but also reignited passions I had long considered lost causes. My newfound perspective has allowed me to approach past challenges, like my perceived failure in Alaska, with compassion and hope. Laurel has not just been a therapist but a supportive friend throughout this journey, regularly checking in on my progress, and the impact of this bond has been life-changing. If you're seeking inspiration to overcome personal struggles, this heartfelt narrative offers a beacon of hope and the reassurance that change is indeed possible.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Hello and long time.
No see, Not your fault, totallymine.
This is going to be a reallyshort episode.
Okay, I'm working on a reallyreally long episode to catch you
up on everything that's beenhappening in my life.
But when we were recording theTuttle Cline podcast today,
which will actually come out onWednesday, the conversation took

(00:28):
an unexpected turn.
Today about therapy Uh, tim wasactually talking about it and
he asked me what the fuzzy Mikewas going to be about this week,
and I was going to make alengthy episode about what I've
been going through.
Um, all good, by the way.
All good, but I thought youknow what.
I'll just tell Tim a little bitabout my recent therapy

(00:49):
sessions and use this as ateaser.
I hate that word, but use thisas a kind of a bookmark to come
back next week when I will havea lot more time to explain all
of this and to talk about theactual process that I went
through with my oh God, newfoundsavior I guess Laurel Wears.

(01:14):
Anyway, this is what I wastelling Tim in our episode that
you'll be able to see in itsentirety on Wednesday.
I just met the therapist of alltherapists and she made a
massive breakthrough for meabout four weeks ago and it's
unbelievable, tim.
Yeah, I guess it's, if you getthe right one right.
Yeah, oh, definitely You've gotto find the right one for sure.

(01:35):
I guess I was getting to seestudents.
Oh, I've had therapistsidentify what the problem is,
but they never knew how to fixit.
Oh, now you got one that fixedit.
It's done.
Yeah, one session, I love it.
So can you illuminate a littlebit?
Or are you giving up her secretsauce or you don't want to

(01:56):
delve into that?
I mean, no, this is what I'mgoing to talk about on the Pussy
, mike mic.
Her name is Laurel Weers andshe is an expert in ART, which
ART is a more rapid response toEMDR, which is eye movement and
all that kind of stuff.
Okay, but anyway, what we didwas we used these little buzzer

(02:19):
things in my hand.
She's in Connecticut, so it wasall remote.
Do these little buzzer thingsin my hand?
And then we went to where thetrauma started, which was when I
was 13.
And my dad told me I'd neveramount to anything.
I use that for motivation myentire life.
Okay, but never did I realizehow bad it fucked me up.
I didn't ever think it did.
But, yeah, that was where allof my stress and all of my

(02:42):
self-loathing and all of my lackof self-confidence came from
was that statement.
And so what we had to do was,as a 55 year old, I had to go
back and hold the hand of the 13year old and reconfront my dad
in that scenario, in thatsituation Interesting, yeah, and
, and it did, tim.
And you remember how, uh, weeven went to the Alaska thing,

(03:04):
where Alaska was really thetrigger.
When I bottomed out and Icouldn't go anymore in Alaska
and I had to turn the backpackover to my friend Scott to
finish the run with me, I reallyfelt my dad saying you're a
loser, and that that's, that'swhat hit me, that that caused me
to shut down my entire life, and it was in the back of my

(03:25):
mind, and so she brought that tothe front.
Tim, let me tell you something.
I can look at a picture of mydad now and actually feel sorry.
I can look at the trailer forDelivering Hope, my run in
Alaska that I thought I failedat and want to do it again.
Okay, that's good, tim.
The last time I thought aboutkilling myself was six, seven

(03:52):
weeks ago.
That's an all-time record Dude.
It was every day.
It was every day, I know, Iknow.
Yeah.
So Laurel Wears is freakingamazing man.
She's awesome.
And I made a friend too.
She checks on me regularly, man, I am so happy that you got
that breakthrough, kev.
Well, yeah, I was seeing atherapist here that was $160 for
an hour and I went 10 times andI wasn't.
We identified the problem, butit wasn't getting any better.

(04:14):
Laurel, my new consultanttherapist was one session
cheaper than $1,600.
And she's like you're done,you're clear Wow, that's so
awesome.
I said that's not a really goodbusiness model for you, laurel.
And she goes I'm not in it forbusiness model, I'm in it to
help people.
And she says, yeah, there'squite a few people out there

(04:34):
that need help, so I'll be okay.
Yeah, go from one to another,to another, to another, fix the
world.
Yeah, if you're that good as atherapist, fix the world.
Uh-huh, and she's really.
She's really good, beautifullady too, super sweet,
unbelievably cool.
I'm telling you, I am so luckythat I found Laurel.
I found her on another podcastand had her on mine and she just

(04:58):
she's changed everything in mylife.
It's unbelievable.
I've never been more grounded,I've never been more relaxed.
I've never been more.
I just I feel a lot lighterthan what I did five weeks ago
and I'm going to tell you allabout it.
I'm going to tell you theprocess next week.

(05:19):
So I apologize for the absence,I apologize for this short
episode this week, but I just Ithought you know what, since Tim
and I actually kind of talkedabout it today when we were
recording the Tuttle Climbpodcast, I needed to get this
out there for you so that youknow that everything is great
with me, everything is fine.

but anyway, thank you so much.
I promise you a full episodenext week and it's going to blow
your mind, absolutely blow yourmind, if you hearing me talk
like I'm not on a manic phaseright now.
