So, like I said, easter iscoming up on Sunday, and so I
(01:09):
thought that it would besemi-cutesy to do an episode
about Easter from when I was achild, because many, many of you
can relate Now, if you grew upin a Baptist church, everything
that I'm finna say to you you,you go know what, what it is I'm
talking about.
Okay, cause, like I, kind oflike, you know, I got my hair.
(01:32):
I got beads in my hair.
So you know, when I was a child, this would be considered
Easter style.
You know what I'm saying.
Or, um, like tomorrow you wouldbe going to the beauty shop and
you getting your little hairdone, your little curls, you
getting your little perm, whatever, and letting whoever
the little beautician is do yourhair, you know your grandma
(01:54):
getting her curls and your mamagetting her wig split too.
You know it's just all finna bea festivity.
And then you know, we got to getthese dresses.
As a little girl, you know weget these dresses that got the
frills and the fluff, and youknow the socks with the frills
and the stuff around it.
You know, and now that I thinkabout it, it was like these
dresses that we were gettingwere similar to like pageant
(02:16):
dresses, because they were big, they were foofy, and it was just
like, oh OK, like am I going toa pageant or am I going to
church?
You know, like what?
What am I doing here?
You know, I got all these bowsand all these barrettes in my
hair, like I thought I was justgoing to church.
(02:37):
I feel like I'm going to goacross the stage and win an
award, you know, because, like, why is the dress so foofy?
Like why I can't put my handsdown to my side?
You know, I'm saying, like, whyis my forehead so shiny with
blue magic?
Like, why is it slicked downlike that?
Why is my face greasy?
(02:58):
I don't understand that, butyou know it, it is what it is
and you know, let's not forget,I feel like I just jumped right
in, like just no precursor ornothing, um, no structure, like
no paying attention to theformat or nothing.
I just jumped on in here.
But anyway, um, something Iwant to talk about because it's,
(03:21):
it's laughable now and I'mgonna have to ask somebody
because I don't really know theanswer to this Do kids do Easter
speeches anymore?
Because I remember about a monthprior to Easter coming up, when
I was a kid, we used to getEaster speeches and we had
Easter speech practice once, once, maybe twice a week to go
(03:46):
over our Easter speech and youknow to do the program and if we
had a little intermission or alittle mind praise, dancing, you
know to do all of that, youknow walk in and stuff like that
.
So I want to know, can somebodytell me, do they still do
Easter speeches for kids or isit like this is is bad to say,
(04:07):
but I haven't been to church ineaston so long.
Um, it's crazy.
I probably probably gonna watchit on tv on sunday, you know,
just you know, because I ain'tbeen inside a church house since
covid hit um.
So, like, do they just do playsnow, or is it just like a
easter speech kind of a deal, oris it just a sermon?
(04:29):
Like, what are they doing now?
Like, do the kids?
Because I know many churcheshave like main church and then
they have children's church.
So, you know, are they stillseparate?
Are they still doing thingsalike?
Like tell me how.
Like tell me how it goes.
Like I'm really curious to knowum, how it goes.
(04:51):
I do know the Saturday beforethere's always a Easter egg hunt
, and I haven't even you knownow that I think about it,
normally like on the corners, like I see, oh, million egg drop
, um million easter egg drop, um, on whatever day, whatever.
I haven't even been seeingthose.
(05:12):
Hmm, I wonder if they're havingthe egg drop, the it's like
helicopter egg drop or whatever.
I haven't even seen any ofthose signs, hmm.
Or you know, because they'rejust plastic eggs.
You know plastic eggs ain'tbeing affected.
I haven't even seen any ofthose signs, hmm.
Or you know, because they'rejust plastic eggs.
You know plastic eggs ain'tbeing affected.
Now these real eggs are Like, Iwant to know, like, tell me,
(05:35):
like, are y'all dying eggs thisyear?
I ain't died eggs in.
Hmm, it's been a minute, but youknow Easter eggs, you know, go
to the, to the store, and getthe little plastic eggs and fill
them with stuff.
Um, I, here it is, I a coupleof days for Easter and I I ain't
(05:55):
got nothing planned.
I might make a little Easteregg hunt or something around
here for the kids, I don't know.
But yeah, I haven't seen anyEaster egg hunts advertised.
Hmm, that's interesting.
That's still interestingbecause I know we used to wake
up early on a Saturday morningbefore the day before Easter and
(06:16):
we used to go to the church andthey used to let us do an
Easter egg hunt and they'd belike this age group, go to front
, this age group, go in the back, this age group, you on the
side, and like there wasdifferent.
Um, there was just likedifferent stuff.
And then like, if you got, like, a golden egg, you would get a
prize, or you know, or, orsomething like that.
(06:42):
So, like, you know you get aspecial egg and you know you,
you win a special prize, andstuff like that.
So I want to know, like, dothey still do that?
Are they using real eggs orhave they just 100% went to just
like the, um, the, the littleplastic egg?
(07:02):
I know you get the plastic eggs.
They could be small, they canbe medium, they can be the
jumbos.
You know, I, I feel like I'msuper out of touch.
Or do we just not even do thisat all?
Like I'm super, super curiousto know.
You know, are they still doingthat?
(07:23):
And I'm very, I'm still verycurious about the Easter
speeches.
And then, you know, on Sundaywe would go to church and you
know we'd be at church for along time and then we'd come
home and then we would eat.
And, rolling into my nextsubject, I haven't even gone to
the store to get anything tocook for Easter.
(07:49):
I'm like, do I cook big, do Icook little?
You know, like, do I want toget in the kitchen and slave and
make sweet potatoes?
And do I want to get in thekitchen and slave and make
banana pudding.
You know, like, what do I wantto do?
Like, do I want to get in thekitchen and bust down?
Or do I just want to cook somefood?
You know, because I can justcook some food, now we can do
that.
Or do I just want to cook somefood, you know, because I can
(08:10):
just cook some food, now we cando that.
Or do I literally want to getin the kitchen and, like, bust
down on some food?
Or like, do I want to?
If y'all keep seeing me pullingmy lip, it's like a hair on my
lip, like and it's bothering me.
Um, or it's like, do I want toget out there on the grill and
bust down on the grill?
Like I really, I really don'tknow.
(08:32):
Like I need to make a decisionlike today, because I, of course
, I need to go to the store.
You know.
It's like, like, what am Igonna make?
Like am I gonna make these?
Am I gonna make these mashedpotatoes?
Like what I don't, I don't, Idon't, I don't know what I'm
(08:52):
finna make.
Like we don't eat, don't get mewrong.
But like, what am I going tomake?
Like, am I gonna get rolls.
Like am I gonna make cornbread?
Like I'm gonna fry some fish?
Like what am I gonna do?
I don't know what I'm gonnacook, whatever it is, I need to
(09:13):
figure it out because I know thestores is closed on Easter.
So I need to go ahead andfigure that out like sooner,
sooner than later, later, because you know we gonna eat.
And then you know, ain't nosports home, okay, ain't no
football.
Um, yeah, y'all know I dofootball.
(09:34):
Like easter as an adult is verydifferent.
Is easter as a child?
You know?
I'm saying like because as achild you know it's already set
out for you.
You know you have the pomp andcircumstance of how, each day
gonna go and stuff like that.
But when you get an adult, it'skind of like what am I supposed
(09:54):
to be doing?
Like I really just have no clue.
Like you know you observe theday, you do whatever.
It is Kind of like you go onabout your day.
There you go y'all, y'all's, uh, y'all's episode y'all.
Um, like I don't, I just likewe the new adults now, and I
(10:19):
don't have, I don't know what todo.
Like is this how our parentsfelt?
Like, because I don't know whatto do.
Like I didn't make no Easterbaskets or nothing Like I think
I still have time to go to thestore, but I don't know Cause.
Like you know, we wake up in themorning.
(10:39):
We had these Easter baskets andstuff in it, some of the Easter.
I was in Stowe the other day, some of these Easter baskets and
got a stream like you get awhole basketball in there and I
feel like easter baskets are asoft lunch to christmas.
Um, because it's kind of likeyou can make an easter basket
with different stuff in there.
(11:00):
Like I seen one that had abasketball in it.
It had a frisbee, a jump rope,it was like a sports easter
basket and I was like, oh, Ilike with like a little bit of
candy and literally, literallythe only thing it was missing
was a water bottle and the waythat these easter baskets is
(11:22):
made.
Now it should havewholeheartedly had a stanley in
it, like not even gonna hold you, it should have had a stanley
in it.
But I was like wow.
And then I seen when they hadlike baby dolls in it and when
they had like racetracks andrace cars in it and I was like
these easter baskets is realsophisticated, like what
(11:42):
happened to like a little basketand then you set the little
stuff.
These easter baskets are likereal deal holy field.
So in my eyes these easterbaskets is like a soft launch to
christmas or or or whatever.
You didn't get your child forchristmas.
(12:03):
Now that them taxes done, yetyou can make an easter basket
now with all the little stuffJuju ain't here for Christmas.
You can put video games inthere and different stuff like
that.
Like, for instance, if I was tomake New Face an Easter basket,
the things that I would put inthere Goggles, an inhaler, swim
(12:26):
cap you know just to name a fewcap.
You know just to name a fewthings.
You know nothing major.
You know maybe some Gatoradepods or something like that.
You know just keep it realsimple, like and and that right
there.
That probably $56 worth ofstuff right there.
Cause if I go and say oh, I'llget him a new pair of uh swim
(12:47):
trunks, say oh, I'll get him anew pair of uh swim trunks,
that's 50 dollars.
Those were swim trunks.
Them swim trunks is high, weain't finna do all that.
We ain't finna do all that.
So he might get a little stuff.
Then again my boy might justget some money, because I don't
(13:08):
really got that kind of time.
I don't have that kind of timeto be building no Easter basket.
I got other stuff, I got otherstuff.
That's really kind of going on.
I'm out the loop.
I really don't.
I don't know y'all, I don'thave time for that.
(13:32):
It's the weekend so I got to domy household duties.
But, yeah, I can't believe itis.
Oh, yeah, I can't believe.
It is like the middle toward theend of the month and it's
Easter and, coincidentally, thisyear Easter falls on 420.
(13:57):
And we're not going to act likewe don't know what that means.
Um, I, I have already seen thememes that say like, uh, it's
420, you know?
Or, um, you know who?
Who going to be high, me or theHoly spirit?
(14:18):
And I'm just like wow, wow, wow, wow.
And it's kind of like, arepeople going to go to church
high or are people going to havethe decency to wait until after
church to do their 420 activity?
(14:41):
Because you got to get a littlebit of time?
You know, going to church highsounds crazy, crazy, but for
some reason I know people finnado it and that is crazy, crazy,
(15:04):
crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy.
And last but not least, let'stalk about how it don't be
nobody at church.
Um, all the other sundays fromjanuary up until that is sunday
(15:25):
baby, we putting chairs out inthe aisle because everybody got
to come see their mom and themthey in town, and stuff like
that for Easter.
So we used to have to putchairs in the aisle and stuff
like that and churches to befull, like before Easter.
(15:46):
You could do cartwheels in thepews because wasn't nobody there
.
But when Easter roll around, you know you got babies sitting
on laps.
Now you got chairs in the aisleand it's just a lot going on.
It's just a lot going on.
And I'll be like, oh my God.
And then the next Sunday, guesswhat?
Back to doing cartwheels in thepews because ain't nobody there
(16:09):
, ain't nobody there, all righty'all.
So that is all I have for y'alltoday, keeping it a little
short, keeping it a littlesimple or whatever, for you
Ain't going to take too much ofyour time on this good Easter
weekend.
So my song lyric for the week, since it's Easter, you know I
(16:31):
gotta you know I gotta dig intomy gospel bag.
You know, dig into my gospelbag, or whatever.
So one of my favorite, mostfavoritest gospel songs is.
I Won't Complain, like I love, love, love, love this song
because, no matter what is goingon, it may be tough, it may be
(16:52):
a trial, but I won't complain.
You know, I.
And then my other one ismelodies from heaven.
I think those go perfect withthe theme of this weekend.
Um, I'm very interested to hearyou know, like I said before, do
kids still do Easter speeches?
Do they still have an Easterproduction on Easter Sunday?
(17:14):
Are we still doing Easter egghunts?
Because, like I'm curious, likeI genuinely want to know, and
then I'm gonna have to next week, I'm gonna have to let y'all
know.
If you know, I'm gonna to letyou know if I did anything for
the kids and what, what I endedup cooking, because I really, I
really really don't know.
(17:35):
Like I said, I ain't got thatmuch time, so I need to be
figuring this out sooner thanlater.
So that is your two songs ofthe week.
