But we got a uh, a team guy whojoined right around bear camp.
(02:04):
We finally got him on zach, welcome.
Speaker 7 (02:06):
Welcome to the show
hey, what's up guys, glad to be
on yeah, no, it's, it's.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
It's great to get you
on um.
You know we're we're gonna talka little bit all different
types of stuff.
It's, you know, the the seasonrecap or the yearly recap and
everything like that.
But but before we get into allthat, you know, tell the
listeners out there a little bitabout yourself and get all the
everyone out there.
(02:32):
You know, meet the newest teamguy.
I mean by far the, the onethat's the the most unknown,
because the man doesn't evenhave Instagram.
Speaker 7 (02:42):
Yeah man, my name's
Zach, I'm 20.
I'm 29 years old, born andraised in South Jersey, didn't
grow up in a hunting family, soI kind of self-taught started in
my early 20s and just beenhaving a blast.
Just so far I've just beenstrictly bow hunting, but I'm
gonna get it.
I took my hunter safety coursefor gun here recently.
(03:05):
I'm gonna get into that next.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
So yeah, you, you, I
mean you've been killing and
somebody who got got into it andtaught themselves in their
early 20s I mean you know me,you and pain we, you know we've
all talked and everything likethat and like your hunting style
.
You don't have that typicalhunting style.
Somebody who's new into it,like you are, you're a season as
(03:28):
a season hunter can can get.
I mean your.
Your style is you know that bigrun and gun, uh, style, I mean
what.
There's some of your setups, you're maybe five feet off the
ground and everything like that.
You, you have a real uniquestyle, kind of where did that
come from?
Speaker 7 (03:45):
so yeah, when I
started, when I got into hunting
, I didn't have any mentors oranything, I just kind of
self-taught.
So my first couple years I wasjust wandering around the woods
trying to sneak up on deer andyou know, trying to spot and
stalk them and everything with abow, and of course wasn't too
successful at it the firstcouple of years.
But uh, and I started followingyou know the hunting beast
(04:07):
forum, uh guys like the huntingpublic and stuff and and uh got
into you know the whole huntingbetting stuff.
Uh, dan in fault and um, yeah,um um, yeah, um, so yeah, you'll
(04:29):
get used to it.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
You know, being on
the podcast once the words start
flowing, ever been yeah, listen, you should have saw me.
The first episode I was likethe trailer.
I'm like, yeah, you're like you, you talk, and it's like yeah,
yeah, like you just get intothis thing, where now, like once
you get used to, I mean look atthe guys.
Now I mean squash, how manytimes a week do you do this?
(04:51):
Because you, you got the, thewhite.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Well, so you're doing
at least two, two to three
times a week yeah, you guys, youguys is uh one night, and then
I got uh, I'll be on probablytwo nights a week with them.
We go back to our regularschedule and I got the gift of
gab, so it's easy for me.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
I can just go that's
true his first time on this
podcast and I I think we talkedabout it in the Christmas
episode and everything like that, but you know he was
apologizing.
I literally got to sit up withmy feet up like I was an actual
guest, like I was just alistener, I was a fan, like I
(05:30):
don't even think I really saidmuch.
That episode Squatch coveredalmost the whole entire episode
and it was beautiful.
But not too many people arelike that, especially on their
first few times.
I mean even myself, I mean eveneven myself.
I mean it does take somethingto get to get used to, but, um,
(05:50):
you do remind me a lot of like.
You know, do you get this a lot, zach, from the hunting public.
Speaker 7 (05:58):
Uh, I think, yeah, I
think our hunting styles are
really similar.
I do a lot of hunting off theground too, and you, you know,
I'd say more than half the timeI'm on the ground I just cover a
lot of ground until I get onsomething.
If I'm in a tree, it's becauseI'm really confident I'm in the
spot.
And you know, if I'm in a tree,um, there's a good chance
something's getting killed thatnight.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
But other than that,
I just cover ground, scout and,
you know, just stay mobile untilI, until I find what I'm
looking for really yeah yeah, what, what you know when, when
you, when you started, you knowwhat was that, like you know a
lot of trial and error, but whatwas like your first deer?
And I mean, you sent somepictures over and we've seen
(06:39):
some of the caliber deer thatyou, that you've shot in recent
years, but what was that likefirst deer, like you know, was
it a doe, was it a?
Was it a young buck?
Like kind of take us throughthat, that, that moment when
everything kind of came togetheryeah, so I can remember my
first hunt.
Speaker 7 (06:56):
Um, you know, like I
said, didn't have a mentor or
anything, and I just, I canremember just walking around and
and seeing, you know, I wouldsee deer, and every deer I would
see would just be the you knowtheir tail just bounding away
from me.
And uh, I remember just lookingat my, my, my quiver full of
arrows and thinking, man, how amI ever going to get one of
these arrows in a deer?
Didn't seem like it would, itwould be possible.
(07:19):
And uh, and actually it wasonly a few days later, I was
walking down the hiking trailand I saw a few does cross the
trail in front of me and I wasable to sneak into about 25
(07:41):
yards and get a shot at one ofthem and I hit her high and hit
her in the spine, or I don'tknow if I hit the spine or, just
, you know, hit right under itand shocked her, but she, she
dropped immediately and, uh, Ihad to put another arrow in her
and that was my.
That was my first year.
Um, and then, just a coupledays after that, actually, I
(08:02):
shot a young, uh, four pointbuck, uh, also from the ground.
I was.
I was scouting my way in in themorning.
I got in kind of late and uhsaw a group of deer.
This was late October and I sawa group of deer it was a buck
chasing some does around and uh,I got down behind a big blown
(08:24):
down log and just crouchedbehind the log and I could hear
him coming in the leaves.
I could hear the footsteps andthis buck came to about five
yards and, uh, I didn't know anybetter you know about waiting
for a broadside shot or anythingand I shot this buck full
frontal front of the chest andum, he went, ran 60, 70 yards
(08:49):
and I watched him fall and I washooked from that point on yeah
I love that.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
What a, what a, what
a story, what, what a first buck
too, I mean, and I loved it, Ilove it.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
There you go, there
you go.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Nice, nice, oh,
that's a nice first buck.
That is a nice first buck.
I mean, all those on the wallare all yours.
That's velvet.
Where's that from?
There's a Delaware velvet buck.
Speaker 7 (09:23):
Nice, there's my
biggest Nice one.
Yeah, he's a nice one Buck.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
Nice, there's my
biggest.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Nice one.
Yeah, he's a nice one.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Beautiful brow tides.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah, jesus, so you
put some pilling down.
I mean, you know how long, howmany bucks are you at, kind of
like right now?
Speaker 7 (09:44):
Let's see, I got one,
two, I got 12 in here right now
.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
You started in your
20s.
That's a pretty goodaccomplishment.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Considering you're
still in your 20s.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
Yeah, it's nice being
in Jersey.
We get how many tags a year?
Six buck tags.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
so yeah, seven now
seven now.
Well, yeah, seven now.
I think it was six.
I think it was six the yearsbefore, but I think it's seven
now or something, something likethat.
They, they made it.
We're getting one more.
Um, now, you know there'sthere's tons of questions.
You know I want to and you knowwe'll get to it all at some
point.
Um, one of your other things,um, first year bear hunting guys
(10:32):
, let me tell you we got thisman hooked within like the first
I don't even know, I think Ithink he, him and payton went
scouting the night before, uh,night, night before season, and
man, he just was already art, itseemed like you were already
hooked before you actually wenton like the bear hunt yeah, that
(10:54):
was the most.
Speaker 7 (10:55):
That was my favorite
hunt of the year so far.
Probably that was one of themost fun hunts I've ever had and
even, like I said, that was thebest two dollars I've ever
spent.
But that's something I'll bedoing every year from now on,
for sure, I had a blast yeah, like you said, me and peyton got
up there the night before theseason.
Uh, covered a bunch of ground.
(11:16):
We found, uh, I guess the best.
Well, we found a bunch of bearsign in the cornfields and
everything where we were huntingthem all week.
We found a a really good activescrape and Peyton put a camera,
a cell camera, on it and withinlike two hours of him setting
up that camera in daylight hehad a nice buck working the
scrape.
So Peyton hunted that spot Iguess it was the second morning
(11:40):
and that's where he ended upshooting his bear.
You know he was.
He went in there deer huntingthinking it was he was going to
get that buck and this big bearcomes through and and then, uh,
size bear.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Hey, listen, that was
one of the.
You know we've bear week hasbecome such a tradition.
You know we talk about a lotand it's going to be a yearly
tradition for us where we'regoing to be at camp.
Make sure anyone coming if youwant to meet up with us at camp.
I mean, the campsite wasbeautiful.
We, we had a lot of fun justthere alone.
But this bear, I mean we justkept going and you know, for for
(12:18):
me and bobby we knew where heshot his bear last year and
peyton was like oh yeah, likeit's right, it's, it's right
there, and we just kept goingand going and then you just go
down and you know anyone who whoknows about hunting bear when
you start going down the ridgeyou're like oh no.
And then you see the bear andit's like okay, like you can't
(12:42):
really tell how big the bear is.
And then pete and all of asudden goes, oh, that's bigger
than I thought.
And we're like, oh my god, likehow are you gonna do this?
Last year you shot a, um yearbefore I think it was roughly
300 and something pounds, andthis one, I think, was a little,
just a little smaller, but it'sstill like a really, really
(13:03):
nice bear and it's like, yeah, okay, let's celebrate.
Okay, we celebrated.
Now we had a gut thing.
We're like, okay, how are wegoing to get this thing up the
ridge?
And how we originally did itfirst was I think you and peyton
were in the front and then meand bobby had to push from the
back because, I mean, the, theincline was.
(13:25):
It was actually a pretty steepincline, yeah, um, so it wasn't
as easy as the rest of the ways.
Once, I think peyton made it.
He kind of had us bobsleddingwhere he we had a bunch of extra
rope and he basically made itso that we could just bobsled
the bear out.
Thank god he did that becausewe made pretty good time.
I think it took us like an hour, hour 15 or hour 20, I think,
(13:47):
to actually drag the bear outafter once we got it up top.
But, um, it was, it was tons offun.
And I then, I think the nextday, after we scouted again or
one of the spots we scouted, youhad a phenomenal counter, the
very next day too as well yeah, that was.
Speaker 7 (14:06):
That was fun.
Uh, so the whole week, you knowI was, I had it in my mind that
I was going to spot stalk one.
Um, so I was covering a bunchof ground and, yeah, I think it
was the third or fourth morningI was walking down edge of a
cornfield that we had scoutedand found a bunch of fresh,
fresh sign the day before, and Ijust caught the back end of
(14:27):
this bear turning the corner ofthis field, about a couple
hundred yards away.
So I full sprint down there, turn the corner and I catch him.
I can see him in the corn, Ican just see the stalks moving.
And so I get down on my kneeson about 30 yards from him and
he steps out into the lane, into, because they have, you know,
(14:49):
the corridors cut on the on thesides of the field, I guess, for
the tractors and everything.
And, um, he steps out into thelane and he he's.
He was huge, I don't know howbig he was, he was, I think he
was probably pushing four or 500pounds and he turns and looks
at me and he sees, he sees meand locks onto me and starts
(15:11):
walking right toward me.
He's 25 yards coming right atme and, um, I wasn't nervous or
anything, it was.
It was weird.
I, I, I didn't have like buckfeet, like you know where that
buck feet, my heart wasn'tpounding or anything but uh, he
ends up turning.
He ends up walking probablyabout five yards towards me and
(15:31):
stops and is staring at me andtrying to figure out what I am
and eventually he loses interestand turns, turns back around,
walks back to the trail he wason and starts turns broadside
and he's getting ready to walkinto the woods.
At this point I draw back.
He's about I guessed him atabout 30 yards, I take.
I settle my.
So when I draw back, my wholesight picture is just black hair
(15:55):
and uh, I think I don't knowwhat happened.
I think I I well getting aheadof myself.
Now I take the shot and thisbear lets out this loud grunt,
this just what's.
He just likes, just like, andruns off.
So I'm thinking I hit him, I'mthinking I just killed this
(16:16):
thing because you know, you hearlike about the death moan and
everything, and I've never shota bear before.
So I call Mike, I call Peyton,I'm like guys, I shot, shot one
and mike was at work at the time.
Um, so payton and bobby cameout and, uh, we start looking
for my arrow and not findinganything, not finding any blood.
(16:40):
Um, and bobby ends up findingmy arrow like 50, 60 yards past
where I, where the bear wasstanding stuck in a tree and it
was clean as a whistle.
It was a clean miss.
So I don't know how I managedto miss the target with a 55
gallon drum at 30 yards.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
But the excitement it
just gets to you like it's a,
especially doing it on theground, and then you know it's
just different.
Like I'll tell you, huntingbears is a.
It's just a whole nother game.
You know, yet again, it'ssomething that we talk about
constantly on this podcastbecause we think a lot of us
(17:17):
just love it so much.
I mean I'm fully addicted to it.
You know, now two years yearsin a row.
You know bobby's always lookingto to get out there that week.
You know the one time he reallygets the hunt he tries to make
it always that it's during thebear week and everything like
that.
Like a lot of people once you,I think you do it.
And you know frank, you go.
(17:38):
Frank killed a giant.
You know bear, you know his,you know back, and when his, his
daughter, was small, I mean wegot the picture I was like, oh
my god, like I didn't realizehow big this, this bear, was,
that, uh, that he killed.
But, um squatch, have youkilled the bear?
Speaker 4 (17:58):
you're muted, squatch
there you go.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
See, I still goof up
now.
Uh, yeah, I killed one aboutsix years ago up in the mountain
.
Uh, about 180 pound.
Um, I got the skull up on theuh gun safe.
But yeah, it was, uh, my secondyear hunting the mountain with
my son and went to the same spotwhere I shot the two big bucks
(18:32):
those two there over my shoulderand it got light and I saw four
legs going across the ridge upahead of me and I was like holy
crap, that's a bear going acrossthe ridge up up ahead of me.
And I was like holy crap, that's a bear.
So I pulled the old mighty 35up and just touched it off and
here comes the bear tumblingdown the ridge right to me and
(18:54):
I'm like, oh my god, I'm gonnaget attacked by this thing.
And I had my trusty 45 on myhip so I pulled that out of the
holster and the bear crashesliterally five feet away from me
and he dies and he lets outthat death moan and I'm like I'm
not coming out from behind thisblowdown man.
I'm like I come out and I gotthe gun drawn and I'm kind of
(19:17):
like looking and I could justsee him laying, like I see his
foot up I'm like, oh he's dead.
But man that was.
It was wild man because I hadnever shot one before and I was
really amazed, like how cleanthey are like internally, like a
deer.
You got it when you got a bearout.
They're so clean, they likedon't stink.
(19:37):
No, if you, if you get a deerand you're gutting a deer out,
not like hitting the intestines, but they just kind of got an
odor to them.
The bear did not bear was cleanand, um, I had to bring it back
.
I brought it over to thetaxidermy shop.
They weighed it, pulled thetooth and I got it back home.
When I skinned it out it freakedme out because it kind of
(19:58):
looked like nothing I've seenbefore.
When I skinned it out theyactually got like elbow elbow
joints and you know it looks itkind of.
They actually got like elbowjoints and you know it kind of
like looks like human a littlebit and you're like man, that's
weird.
I'm not used to seeingsomething like that hanging in
my garage.
But I'll tell you what180-pound bear average cat skill
bear for up here.
You know they get way bigger.
(20:19):
I mean we got them running likeyou guys got down there.
But I mean we got them runninglike you guys got down there.
But I mean a good eating bearwhen I say good eating, like he
was young, he was tender.
I made roasts and peoplethought it was venison and I'm
like, no, no, that's bear.
They're like, wow, dude, that'sreally good.
So I don't know, I don't know,I mean I would kill one again.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
One again, I guess,
with the right opportunity we're
getting you to come back for, yeah, you know, for bear season.
We definitely get you to comedown and the cool thing is, you
know we can just then and that'swhat we did, like the morning
that that weather we we didn'thave the best weather, I think
for that morning hunt to huntbear.
So our plan was to hunt deerand it worked out well, like,
(21:06):
especially in New Jersey, likeyou could go out during the bear
season and you know, anywherefrom Morris County up to where
Frank is and everything likethat, you're going to run across
a bear.
Probably at some point youcould deer hunt.
And you know, like, all right, you know I'm going to take my
morning to go, we're going to gohunt a scrape, because I think
(21:30):
the temperature drops so much.
We're like, oh, like, deer aregonna be on their feet, those
scrapes are gonna be hot, youknow.
And happens, bear.
I've seen bears.
Oh, yeah, beautiful bear thereyou go, beautiful bear, yeah, um
.
And then you know, anothergreat thing was that one of the
bucks was on the scrape while wewere walking in to go get the
bear too.
So you know, yeah, for us innew jersey, like it's a great
(21:53):
time, even if you're like, oh,you know what, I don't really
want a bear hunt.
It's a two dollar tag, get it,you can deer hunt and if a bear
comes, a bear comes and you knowthe camp is what I really had
fun and we had.
Yeah, I still arguably thinkthe best heart I've ever had,
that bear heart, and I've haddeer heart and I love deer heart
(22:16):
.
But I don't know if it's zachjust making it.
Because, first of all, uh, thatyou, you run the carnivore diet
.
You know, I noticed the hat.
Uh, make america healthy again.
Um, so you're, you stand by the, the carnivore diet and
everything like that.
So you've gotten so used tomaking, you know, meat and
everything.
(22:36):
Listen, the venison that we hadwas phenomenal, like basically
perfectly cooked.
I mean, I, I loved it.
So I don't know if that madethe bear better, because I think
you cooked the bear, I believe.
Um, I don't know if it was thebeef tallow that you, I don't
know what exactly it was yeah,it was delicious.
The food was out of control.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Yeah, pay me a bunch
of meat from that bear too, and
I've been eating it, eating abunch of the ground meat, and
yeah, that's delicious, man, Ican't get enough of it yeah,
love, love, bear.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
Um, but all right,
before you know what, we'll get
back to to you in a little bit.
Um, guys, like I said, it'sit's the end of the year wrap up
.
We've had, let me, we've had areally good year.
I want to first of all saythank you to, to all the
listeners out there.
You know you guys have beenabsolutely great.
(23:33):
We're well, well past, I think,a hundred thousand, maybe even
close to two hundred thousanddownloads.
I can't exactly remember rightnow, um, but we have been
absolutely killing it from theguys on the team.
You know the dedication thatyou guys.
I got to thank you guys as well.
(23:53):
I know Steve Squatch, frank andZach now all joined up in 2024.
And Zach now all joined up in2024.
And it is, it has been aabsolute pleasure having you
guys a part of this.
You know the game, dinners, thearchery events, everything like
that.
(24:13):
It is, it is.
It has been great.
I know you are going to get toexperience that now being now
that we're going to be movingoff from hunting season, going
into the off season, andeverything like that.
Um, and it's a it's a grandtime.
I personally love it becauseit's we have this like pretty
tight-knit community that we'vetalked about on our podcast, on
(24:35):
other podcasts, on the white toeevent.
I know you guys are atight-knit community and
everything like that.
So, um, it is, it is trulyamazing.
But this year, guys, we did 61episodes this year.
I think that is awesome.
I for us, I think last year Iwas at 40 something and I really
(24:56):
wanted to just step it up.
We were averaging one point one, seven episodes per week, and
that obviously we take a littlebit breaks here and there, but
during the main season we'rerunning two episodes a week.
Um, during the off season we'llkind of cut it down to maybe
one.
Uh, it just depends on what ourum pre um gosh I'm freaking,
(25:21):
drawing a blank blank right nowum, all our um interview
episodes and how many we got.
Um, I think we're up to like 15or 20 this off season.
So we were able to push out alot of episodes.
So, guys, you know I, Iappreciate it.
Um, philadelphia was actuallythe top listen to city with 342.
(25:47):
So shout out to Philly.
I don't know if that's.
I don't think I can give Peytonall the credit for that.
I don't think Peyton listenedto that many episodes and
everything.
Whoever you guys are out inPhilly, you know, huge shout out
to you guys.
12 countries, obviously, unitedStates being the highest and
(26:08):
Singapore being the secondhighest.
That is pretty interesting.
And then, I think, germany, canada and the United Kingdom.
So we had a phenomenal, phenomenal year this year and a
lot of great episodes.
Um, you know, and it alwaysgets hard giving your favorite
(26:33):
episodes and I know, for frank, you've been here with us the the
longest with the episodes sowhat were some of your favorite
episodes, recording and andmemories like that?
Speaker 4 (26:47):
uh, kind of put me on
the spot there for saying that,
um, I should have gave you guysa heads up but it's all.
It's all good.
Um, I mean I definitely, youknow, one of my favorites was
definitely my brother squathaving his on there.
Um, I'm trying to think of whatother ones are stuck.
I really like the one withReaper.
(27:09):
That was another good onebecause he's just a book of
knowledge.
That guy Literally Trying tothink what else really really
stuck out to me.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
I'll put them on the
spot, people yeah, yeah,
definitely they're thinkingbecause you're going to be asked
next too.
Yeah, yeah, I'll give you, I'llgive you some time before we do
the top five downloaded episodes.
I'm going to real quick um,give you guys.
We did the fan vote.
This is the second annual yearof doing the the fan vote.
(27:46):
I mean absolutely greatresponse.
Um, this is something thatwe're going to be doing
continuously.
Um, you know, and it kind ofbroke it down, I'll start from
the final um eight.
And you know, I think, um,squash, you just, yeah, squash
(28:06):
went up against a juggernaut.
You went up against ajuggernaut, um, with maddie
butts, so you made it to thesweet 16.
Uh, you put up a great fight.
I mean, we loved that episodeand everything like that, but,
um, you just went up against thejuggernaut there.
So it was Matty Butts, buckDown.
(28:26):
We had from Gunpowder toArchery with Noct, we had Hex
Hunting, we had Woods with theWoods, the Rat Getter, 10-year
Anniversary episode, wild GameFreaks and Whitetail 101.
That was in the top eight, which went down to Matty Butts
(28:50):
going against Knocked Outdoorsand then the Woods against Wild
Game Freaks, and both MattyButts and the Woods went head to
head today and I will tell you,I think this might have been
close to one of the highest evervoted on finals that we've had,
(29:14):
and it was the woods getting 76votes and Maddie butts getting
94 votes and taking first placeas the fan voted episode of the
year.
Some great support from fromthose guys.
He actually tells a hilariousstory that I loved and I tried
(29:37):
so hard to.
I had it down on my computerand it was all ready to go and I
have no idea where the hell itwent.
So while I'm gonna, when youguys are explaining, I'm gonna
see if I can.
I can find it, but he has, Ithink, one.
Yes, by far probably myfavorite story of this year.
(29:58):
Um, but just an absolute greatepisode.
And you know he's a jersey guyand we we definitely gotta give
a lot of love to the jersey guys.
So congratulations to, tomaddie outdoors uh, maddie bush
for for being the number one fanvoted episode.
So frank, does that give you alittle like, uh, wiggle room of
(30:20):
of some episodes a little bit?
Speaker 4 (30:23):
so what I was also
thinking was I actually
completely forgot I was therefor the whole racketer one, but
that was a really great one withgerard um, knowing that we kind
of like I guess, like I kind ofgrew up in the same area like
he did and everything as long aslike with my family, so that
was kind of cool.
(30:43):
And, uh, I and actually hexhunting, like because that
really opened my eyes, andgetting to use their products
this year, that was a reallygood one yeah and um, there was
one more, but I freaking forgotit already, but definitely those
were were probably my all-timefavorites yeah, how about you
(31:05):
squash?
Speaker 5 (31:06):
yeah, I gotta kind of
agree with frank on some of
them.
Um, of course, you know my mindwas really good, you know.
But we're to leave that alonefor now.
But no, like I said, everybody Ienjoy listening to whoever
comes on, because there's somany different walks of life and
(31:26):
everybody looks at hunting adifferent way and they do
different things and they dodifferent things.
I did really enjoy the hexepisode like you guys are
talking about, you knowdiscussing the electromagnetic
magnetic field that animals cansee.
It was very intriguing.
I really like the scientificside of that stuff.
It's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
So I really got a
great guy Awesome people,
awesome people.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
Um, of course, you
know, again, rack getter I liked
hearing about.
You know the things that he hadto bring to the table and how
he's got started with stuff andyou know his sense are
incredible.
So I really wanted to learnabout the guy.
It was good listening to it.
And, um, you know Frankie, whenFrankie's on, I love his stuff.
You know he's always got greatstories to tell and you know
(32:20):
he's had a hell of a season thisyear and just sitting there and
be able to to ride shotgun withhim on a lot of the stuff.
And you know we, we confide ineach other a lot.
You know we're like theinseparable guys of uh, you know
boondocks outdoors and you know, with with us doing the podcast
, we're always like each other'suh, our, our, um, uh, you know
go-to guy.
That's what we do we.
We call each other when we getsomething, so that's good.
(32:41):
Um, I think I'm trying toremember back what the when
another one was.
Oh, yeah, I like the andrewfitzgerald.
You know his stuff that he hecame up with.
He's got a little bit of adifferent technique.
I don't necessarily agree witha lot of it, but it was cool
hearing his little bit of, uh,how he does things and it was
(33:03):
interesting, uh, you know.
So that's what I mean.
You know it's not alwaysnecessarily like the nailed down
.
You know everybody walks thesame path.
It's good getting some insightfrom, from different people's
views, but I I guess you knowit's so hard because, like I
said, you know, there's so manyout there, you got so many
(33:24):
episodes and you know, justhaving the people on like you
know, I mean you you've had, like, like you know, dave on and
those guys and stuff, it'sinteresting listening to their
take on stuff and you know it'sjust a big network of great
people and, being that I'm ontwo podcasts, it's like
(33:46):
sometimes, you know, like wehave you on Mike, and you're an
enjoyment to listen to.
You bring a lot to the table tolisten to.
You bring a lot to the tableand you know just the whole
network of people.
Like, like you were saying, youknow you're going to see Zach,
you're going to see, you know, and I I'm not even that long
being in here with these guys, but I'm going to welcome you
because it's going to be anawesome thing for you to
(34:06):
experience this, especially I'mI'm going to be 50 in a month.
Okay, you're a young guy yet.
So for you to experience thisand and get you know everything
that you can take from what webring to the table, it's
combined years and years ofknowledge.
It just rolls and steam, steamrolls, and you can just take in
so much of that and then you canuse it to your advantage.
(34:30):
You know, you can say well, youknow, I took a little bit of
what Squatch said, or I took alittle bit of what Mike said or
what Frank said, and I appliedit, but I kind of did my own
thing on it.
And that's how you get good, youknow, and that's how you start
learning, learning little tricksof the trade.
And you know I'm going to openmy arms to you.
You know, hey, listen, you wantto ask me something you're more
(34:51):
than welcome to.
You know how to get on us with, with the.
You know texting back and forthwith the, the group chat and
stuff like that.
I mean, I'm no professional,I'm.
I still learn stuff every day.
But yeah, I've been around.
I've been around for a whileand you know I might be able to
help you with something.
So don't be afraid to ask, geton there and say, yo, I'm having
this problem, or I don't knowwhat to do, or yeah, absolutely
(35:14):
you know.
So we welcome you.
We welcome you and can't waitto hear you get on here and talk
more about yourself andexperiences that you had.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
So absolutely yes,
absolutely definitely,
definitely, um, and and that'sthe one thing that I love about
you know, doing this and what, what we got just at at boondocks
and then even just with the,the other other groups, is the,
the community.
It's like being on a sportsteam and it's a, it's a huge
brotherhood that you know.
I mean, we got people inWisconsin and Ohio and you know
(35:47):
all over the place that we'veconnected.
You know, down in NorthCarolina, um, with Jones, and
then we have the huntingcompetition that we put together
, which is just, you know, we'vetalked about it it's really not
even about the competition,it's just about us just having
fun and just, you know, it'sjust an amazing experience we
get to do.
(36:07):
And you know, you kind of saidon Perfect Squatch, like I've
done 200 and 209 episodes.
Um, you know, and I never canreally tell people what are my
favorite, because every episodeis so unique and just so
different that I I really dolove them all.
(36:28):
Um, you know, and it's italways gets tough when I try to
give my favorite ones.
Um, I, I always try to give itto to people.
Um, you know, I I never reallycan do it, but you know some of
the stories you know I'll one ofmy favorites.
Um.
Right here is.
Um is from Knocked Outdoors.
(36:51):
Can everyone hear that?
Nope, okay, all right, I wasn't100% sure.
(37:12):
I think it was because on.
All right, sorry guys aboutthat.
Let me just, I'm going to putmy headphones off real quick, my
headphones off real quick, andI'm going to let you guys listen
(37:37):
to this.
This is from Knocked Outdoors.
This is one of the clips fromthis year.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Absolutely loved it,
and this one right here is just
why I love this you're tellingme your first bow kill was a
black bear black bear honestlyhad no idea they're around um,
but it was my buddy's campactually down south on the
(38:02):
border, um, and I mean me.
So it's kind of funny story meand my buddy were hunting,
probably 150 yards apart fromeach other.
Um, we both set up the standsmaybe the day before um.
So I've heard, you know, ohthere's, you know there are
black bear here.
So, uh, that kind of alwayspiqued my interest to be like
(38:22):
all right, that's pretty cool,it'd be cool to see one.
Um, and like I said, we weresitting 150 yards apart from
each other.
I just so happened to look tomy right and saw it kind of
sticking its head out and I, myheart completely dropped.
I just about fell out of thestand.
I was like, oh my God, I'llnever forget texting my buddy
(38:44):
bear bear.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
You're like I
couldn't imagine killing my bear
for my the first animal.
I killed my bow and it's goingto be a bear Like, and that was
great with zacka, you know, great guy can't wait to to meet
him and everything like that, and that was a great episode.
Like I, that's one of theepisodes that like, sticks out
and everything like that.
There's just, there's just somany.
I mean um, of course, the youknow the ones and with brandon
(39:10):
love having having brandon onand, um, everyone we know him as
as reaper and everything likethat.
Um, so it's always greatgetting great, always getting
reaper on.
I mean this story right herethat he, that he tells he's
trying to get the hook out andhe will eventually get that hook
out, yeah, that's what theotter said.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
It wasn't even really
in him, it was just a jay hook
and I was using a live minnowunder a bobber and he came up
after the minnow, I guess, andwhat happened was the jay hook
kind of went under his chin andit literally was outside of his
mouth, it was on the side of hisface and it was literally so I
know it just pulled out, but itwas through like the tiniest
piece of flesh.
But their skin is tough so liketrying to get that out, I was
(39:55):
just trying to get it out andlike he was just trying to tear
me up so I let it go.
But we saw him like for likethree more seasons and like that
shit just pulled out.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
But you know we're
having having an otter.
Like has anyone caught an otter?
I haven't.
I I know, not me after listeningto him, I was like, hey, man, I
don't think I would ever wantto catch an otter.
I haven't I, I know, not me.
After listening to him I waslike, hey man, I don't think I
would ever want to catch anotter.
Like you know, we've gotsnapping turtles before and
everything and that's kind ofwhat we were talking about.
But like you don't really thinkof an otter as like something
(40:25):
that you're gonna catch, youknow, and then boom, next thing
you know you're, you're catchingan otter.
So it's always getting great, getting reaper on.
I imagine you know reaper willbe on plenty more times.
Um to come.
And another one um that I reallyloved and I'm not sure if any
of you guys were on, for I thinkfrank was was quentin from from
(40:47):
full draw.
Oh yeah, yep.
And you know, when he firsttold us in that about him being
stalked by a wolf I mean that, that story right there and we
actually recorded that with himand we held on for that for a
while and he actually dropped afew I think two episodes with
(41:08):
other people before that.
But like I think we were one ofthe first ones that for the
podcast community that that kindof heard.
I don't think he he told itbefore.
Um, I don't even know.
There are wolves in freakingwisconsin.
Yeah, again, this man wasstalked by like literally
stalked by a wolf.
Um, anyone who has listened tothat, make sure you go check
(41:31):
that one out, because that onewas great.
I think we talked about wolves.
I think we talked about mountainlions mountain lions yep and um
in wisconsin, which, yet again, had had no idea.
Um, you know, of course, anything with gerard, um and
then, um, what a really good one.
And any any of you guys outthere looking to get into
(41:52):
trapping?
Uh, the, the one with autumn um, she's a pa trapper.
This girl knows her.
That was a really fun one.
I can't wait to get her onagain and hopefully, you know,
she'll be at one of our events.
Um, hopefully she'll be at thegame dinner and everything like
that.
I might, even I might havesomething that I had already
(42:13):
reached out to to her about, butI, I gotta, I gotta, double
check.
I would like to get her on as aum at the event, as a um, as a
guest speaker, because I thinkgrowing the trapping community
is such a key, especially ifyou're into turkeys and and
everything like that.
If you're talking about justmanaging in a whole, I think you
(42:34):
always have to put intotrapping is just something that
you got to do.
Yeah, so that is a couple ofthem now.
Now, guys, I'm going to give youthe top five downloaded of 2025
.
You know, with number five andwhich was a great, great time
(42:59):
and hooked us up with being apart of the Hex Affiliate
program, which was a great thingthat that he did and honestly,
it was phenomenal.
And I will tell you, I have notgone a hunt without wearing my
hex suit underneath all myclothes.
Um, and I will tell you, fromfrom turkey season to deer
(43:22):
season, I don't think I've hadthis many close encounters and
I'm not trying to give, but it'slike he talks about in the
episode it is.
This is not going to make yousomething to become the next
(43:42):
great hunter.
It's just another small pieceto help give you maybe a little
bit of advantage.
Just like you still got to playyour wind, you know, you still
got to try to cut down on yourscent control.
You still can't be movingaround like an asshole and
everything like that.
Like you, this is just anotherlittle piece in the, the tool
(44:03):
shed or whatever you want tocall it, to help you maybe I
don't know deceive a animalthat's instincts are absolutely
phenomenal.
Um, I mean this guy, what doyou say?
I think he's killed 50something.
Elk insane, loves elk huntingand loves africa, and it was
(44:26):
actually like he.
We got to get him on againbecause just his african hunting
stories were just absolutely.
Um, you know, with Cape Buffaloand everything like that.
I think he said what do you say, frank?
He wants to do, I think, hippo,I think is his.
Hippo is something that is oneof his big dreams, if he wants
to, to go kill a hippo.
(44:46):
So, like, we definitely got toget him on and that was a
phenomenal episode.
Number four was the round tablesegment, um, with season
hunters, and were you on thatone, frank?
Speaker 4 (45:03):
I'm maybe I know I
was on a couple of them, but I
don't know if I was on that onethough we've.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
We've done a bunch of
who's new listening to this.
We started um the roundtablesegment, where we get a bunch of
guys on anywhere from six, seven, eight, nine, ten, as as
many as we can get on, and wejust talk and we all just bounce
different things off of us.
Every hunter here is differentand they have a different belief
(45:30):
or they have a different style, and that's kind of just getting
us all on at one time.
Sometimes we'll talk aboutcontroversial topics and things
like that, and you know, so thatwas um always doing that.
When you have a lot of the guyson, especially, if you know, we
get that with um, usually withum chris from only bows, from
(45:53):
you know, dave from urbanpursuit and everything like that
, usually they're urban pursuitand everything like that.
Usually they're on there andeverything like that.
So we get a pretty wide varietyof of guests and everything
like that.
So it is always a a fun thingto do with with those boys.
Um.
So number three uh, anyone wantto guess what number three is?
You think you can get it?
(46:13):
Anyone want to guess whatnumber 3 is?
You think you can get it?
Speaker 4 (46:18):
come on, frank,
you've been here for so many
yeah, I know, I'm trying to gothrough all the whole list in my
head this is something that noone has talked about yet tonight
and it was Turkey Talk with DrMichael chamberlain.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
Oh, that was a and I
mean I wish I wish peyton was on
, because I know peyton.
If peyton was on, peyton wouldhave been like.
That probably was his, I think, number one um thing because he
was so excited about gettingthat on, but that was phenomenal
for him to give us an hour ofhis time um meant a lot.
Um, it was great, and someonewho's getting more into turkeys
(47:00):
and everything like that, it wasreally cool to to get his
aspect on things of where hethinks turkeys are the
population's going andeverything like that.
So that was pretty unique.
Um, then our number two is mrreaper himself as as yet again,
hey, he's number two for mostdownloads this year.
(47:22):
Yeah, this episode waswhitetail 101, carolina.
Uh, carolina reaper, great guy,man kills.
That man knows how to kill, I'msure.
Um, you know, and before we getinto to the number one episode,
um, you know it's harder on themost recent episodes because
(47:47):
they don't have the the sameamount of time as the, the beat,
the older ones, um, but I gotto give it up to up to um go
patrol.
That was a great one.
Love talking to to the guy, those guys, um, good guys.
Neil neil harp, that was adifferent one because I was a
lot about tattoos.
And neil harp, he's going to beat the great american outdoor
(48:10):
show, um, at one of the booths, and he's going to be tattooing
and he's a trad shooter so heshoots, uh, traditional and
everything like that.
So I actually had had a lot offun with that.
Um, you know, there is uh,samantha, um nicoletta, I
believe her, her lat, if I'msaying it correctly.
(48:30):
She's from pa and she takes herdaughter every with her, uh,
hunting and everything like that, from very young and she's
actually currently I think she'spregnant right now still
hunting and also has herdaughter with her out, out
hunting too, as well, and I Ifind that phenomenal.
If we're going to grow theoutdoors, there's two things
(48:50):
that we got to do women have tobe more involved and, you know,
ethnic groups have to have to bemore involved.
Um, I think those are two verybig um components to it.
Um, not the end all be all, because, yet again, things are
expensive, prices need to godown a little bit and everything
like that, but those are two,two big things right there.
(49:10):
Um, and then, how could Iforget?
We celebrated our 200th episodethis year.
Um, that was a wild one, zach.
You missed that.
We were.
That was when I was in delawareand I freaking listen, guys, I
I don't know if you heard thestory, zach, but I had to go to
the bathroom.
(49:31):
So bad.
We were scouting and the fiancewere scouting and I'm trying.
I was like, okay, like'm goingto go scout one more spot, then
we're going to go out to dinner,we got the podcast to do and
then I'm going to hunt all daytomorrow.
Driving on one of the dirtroads and all of a sudden the
belly started rumbling and I waslike, oh no, like I was going
(49:52):
to literally shit myself and Iguess I took a turn a little too
fast and I also hear boom andthat's just the.
The car just like the tire, just didn't want to go anymore.
I get out tires completely flat, bent the rim.
I had to leave my truck down indelaware for a week and rent a
(50:16):
car for a week.
But, um, that was a great onebecause we got to interview the
state record holder for the guythat was in line with payton
with the, with the 770 poundblack bear dress that he shot
and he came on and everythinglike that and that was a.
That was a phenomenal episodetoo as well.
(50:38):
I gotta give up for thatepisode too uh, yeah, listen to
that one that was.
Speaker 7 (50:42):
I was gonna say that
was probably my favorite of the
year that I've listened Ihaven't listened to all of them,
but that was a really good oneyeah, I, I haven't expected
there's a lot of episodes to getthrough.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
I wouldn't expect.
Uh, I would be like damn if yougot through them all already.
I'd be like damn.
So, since you're able to getthrough some, what were some of
the ones that stuck out to you?
Speaker 7 (51:08):
Yeah, that was the
one I had in mind, the guy that
killed that state record bear.
That was a really good episode.
It seems like he's reallydialed in with the deer hunting
and everything too, and yeah, waterfowl too I mean, I saw yeah
and, uh, they've been dialed inwith.
Speaker 1 (51:23):
He's been dialed in
with everything this year.
I mean that's great to see.
I mean, um, love, seeing that, love, love waterfowl, love, bear
, love deer.
So, um, he's having himself ahell of a season, that's for
sure.
But I I think that was.
I mean we can, we can go on andon and on all of our field
(51:44):
notes, our new segment of fieldnotes.
That's been always fun Everyweek getting on with you guys.
Squash said it earlier Frank isjust on fire right now.
The whole crew's on fire.
How many, how many have youkilled so far, zach, this year?
six five, five does in one book.
Okay, so we're roughly.
I'm gonna have to recount again, but I think we're at 30
(52:07):
something.
I think we're at 30.
So we got plenty of time leftand we still have plenty of time
left.
Um, even if Squatch wants tocome down to Jersey, it's plenty
, yep, um.
So the number one podcast for2024 and two time winner this
(52:32):
evening is Maddie Butts.
He.
That episode absolutely didnumbers Not quite yet into the
top five all-time downloaded.
That still has a big task toget there, but I think it's
moved into the top I don't know25 all-time downloaded episodes.
(52:57):
I wish I had the clip for youguys, but I'm going to kind of
tell you how it went.
Well, all his stories weregreat, but he told the story one
of the times he was out huntingand I don't want to butcher it.
So make sure you guys go checkout that episode right now.
Um, but he basically went from.
(53:21):
He was, he was ground hunting.
Oh wait, I think I found it.
Hold on, I think I found it oh,no, okay.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
So I start like army,
drawing through this tall grass
and I got like 40 yards from it35, 40 yards and I'm like you
know what?
I kneel up, I pull my bow backand I put my sight on it.
I'm like ready One, two, three, shoot.
I shoot, I see a spark.
(53:54):
I'm like what the fuck was that?
All of a sudden, I hear thisdude scream from up in a tree.
What are you doing?
Speaker 1 (54:01):
I'm like and I was so
confused I'm like what's going
on and he't hear about, like the, the, the movies, or like
people who, who shoot decoysthat are, you know, usually
(54:22):
doing illegal stuff.
But this was purely anotherhunter put out a decoy.
It must have been during theriot yeah the guy was waiting
for a buck to come to the decoy.
Matt saw the decoy Gets intoshooting position.
Oh my God, it was a buck, and Ithink this was when he was
(54:44):
younger too, and everything likethat.
And I will say I think that wasthe.
That was by far the funnieststory of this year and I just
got it.
Like.
Things like that like is, whatmakes this podcast for me that I
love so much is just peoplejust getting on, even if it's
(55:05):
embarrassing or or anything likethat.
Like things happen.
Things happen in the, in thewoods.
You make mistakes, you fall onyour face, you shoot decoys, you
know you forget your bow athome and everything.
But that's, we all do that andthat's what makes the stories.
You know, it's, it's therealism in it and it just I
(55:30):
couldn't imagine shooting adecoy.
I hope that never happens to me.
I really hope that doesn'thappen to me.
But yeah, matty Butts, I got togive it up to him, the double
with the fan vote and just beingthe number one downloaded
episode of 2024.
(55:51):
Absolutely incredible.
We are going to get him onagain, definitely, again.
Definitely.
Like he's got a lot of storiesto tell, I would like to get the
whole jersey outdoors crew on?
Um, all of them together andeverything like that.
A bunch of great guys.
If you're not already, makesure you guys go, uh, go, follow
them.
But, um, boys, new year'sresolutions, what, what?
(56:13):
Zach, let's start with you.
You got a New Year's resolution.
Speaker 7 (56:22):
I guess the main goal
right now, the main thing I'm
focusing on, is killing a buckduring winter bow.
I've done it the last two years.
I want to get another one thisyear.
I'm hoping we get some snow.
It looks like we might get somesnow on next week a little bit
so how the weather is.
Speaker 1 (56:38):
Supposedly, january
is supposed to be cold yep it is
supposed to be cold, potentially snowy, we might
actually have a.
I've been because I've listenedto a lot like a historic of how
cold it's supposed to be.
Um, once waterfowl, thatwaterfowl dies down for me, I
will be getting back out therewith the, with the deer hunting
(56:59):
and everything like that.
But, um, and what?
What else is your?
You know your resolution, what, what is a goal going into the
whole 2025?
Now we look at the whole thing.
You know you got any States youwant to go to anything like
that.
What is one of your goals forfor 2025?
Speaker 7 (57:25):
Yeah, I want to do
some more traveling next year.
I probably want to hunt Ohio orWest Virginia.
I've been wanting to hunt thosetwo states for a while now.
So I've done Delaware, Marylandand New Jersey so far.
So I want to hunt a couple morestates this year too.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
Looks like we're.
Looks like we're going to Ohio.
Speaker 7 (57:46):
I found my buddy.
I'm going to.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
Ohio with.
Speaker 7 (57:48):
There you go, I'm
down.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
Squatch.
How about you?
What's your new year'sresolution?
Speaker 5 (57:55):
I'm going to say to
make, uh, my, my channel grow
more, uh, you know, outdoors andmore with the squash and, um,
I'm getting ready to move intothe predator season now.
You know, deer's winding downfor us here in new york.
So, uh, I didn't do much withthe deer videos this year.
(58:17):
I just kind of likeconcentrated more on just
hunting.
I wanted to get footage andstuff like that, but I was in
between like what camera to useand some stuff like that.
I just got the Insta 360.
So my wife got me that forChristmas, so that's going to be
a cool addition to making somevideos.
(58:37):
But, uh, I guess my, my, my, myresolution would be to really
put more time into that.
Make it grow, you know, and anddedicate myself to with the
podcast, you know.
Just, you know, try tocontribute more, you know.
Maybe you know some kind oflike thing with education or
(59:02):
something whatever.
Whatever you know we see fit todo, you know, just kind of get
out there, you know, get, get us, get us known, man, get us, get
us established really well, youknow definitely.
Speaker 1 (59:17):
And how about a
hunting goal for 2025?
Speaker 5 (59:20):
hunting goal for 2025
.
So turkey season's coming up.
I'm gonna kick myself in theass for this one.
I really am.
But the super mag 48 recurve'scoming down off the wall and, uh
, I'm gonna try to kill a turkeywith the recurve this year.
So uh see, if I can't get thatdone, it's awesome oh boy oh boy
(59:43):
well, I mean I, I killed a deerwith it.
So you know there's a lot offun and and I kind of miss it.
I kind of miss the.
You know, I mean I love mycompound hunting and stuff too,
but man, I just missed therecurve.
You know, it's just's just.
You guys know I'm, I'm partnative American through my great
(01:00:03):
grandmother side and stuff, andI miss the.
I miss that connection.
I, I, I don't know, I just missit.
I want to.
It sits up there, it's abeautiful bow and uh, you know,
I want to, I want to get afterTurkey with it.
If I could kill a turkey withthat recurve, I'd be doing some
(01:00:25):
somersaults or something outthere.
Be real happy.
Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
Love it, love it,
frank.
New Year's resolution.
Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
All right.
So for me, I want to try to getafter that 10-pointer during
winter bow, because I know he'sstill alive.
He still made it, the one Iactually, you know, shouldered
early on in September.
I know there's another guyafter him or a couple guys so
hoping to get after him and thenif I get him, you know, we can
(01:00:58):
spend some more time with thewife and the kids and everything
.
That's what I've kind of beendoing now.
So, yeah, like that's where I'mat and like going into, you
know, 2025, I want to have alittle redemption during turkey
season with Mr Squatch there.
This time he gets me a turkey,he owes it to me.
(01:01:21):
And, uh, you know, just tryingto set up more hunts with you
guys.
I want to be able, you know, bemore involved, you know,
hunting with you guys, you knowthe whole boondocks team as a
whole and, yeah, just help growthe podcast and, you know, build
our channels up and go fromthere yeah, yeah, love it, love
(01:01:46):
it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
Um, man, my new
year's resolution, I don't even
know I, it's really just for meit's probably getting back to.
I've let myself go a little bit.
This uh, this off season I puton, uh, I put on a few pounds in
the uh during the season.
(01:02:07):
So, um, yeah, getting back.
Like my fiance she just got us,uh, ice cream, so like I've
been eating horrible, but thatthat goes with my, my hunting,
because when I start to eat like, especially at the end, it's my
winter weight.
I put on winter weight.
Um, yeah, but you know it is tokeep up the grind of, okay, the
(01:02:30):
new year's coming time to getback into shape.
Um, still, we got waterfowl forme to get down, but I'd like to
at least get another deer ortwo once waterfowl is going.
So, um, getting back to that,um, that killer instinct I had
with deer, like I had in the theearlier part of the year when I
(01:02:50):
was running around everywhereand you know, everything was
still good and I was still inshape and eating somewhat decent
.
Um, and then you, you know agoal for 2025.
I mean, it's got to be to killa turkey.
I, I'm on a revenge tour withturkeys I don't think I've had
(01:03:12):
so much turkey action ever in mylife and then continue to have
it during the deer season, whenI'm still getting trail camera
pictures of big flocks of birds.
So, um, that has got to be mynumber one thing of 2025 is
spring.
Here, here we come, we're gonnasmoke a uh, we're gonna smoke a
(01:03:34):
tom and we're gonna get a birdon the ground.
Um, and then, yeah, stillgrowing the page.
Um, growing not only my pagebut all of our pages as a, as a
whole.
Um, that's kind of like one ofmy big goals.
And when I talk to the guys andeverything like that, like, hey
, listen, it's not just aboutboondocks hunting, it's about
(01:03:56):
frank's page, about squash page,it's about pay and it's about
whatever.
You know I know, um, you knowwe've talked a little bit um
zach, and you know I, I know howyou know you're with, but you
even said like, hey, you know, Ido want to maybe start to get
into filming a little bit andand doing all these different
things.
So that would coincide like, hey, it's not only about
(01:04:17):
boondocks hunting, it's aboutall of us here, um, so continue
with that and continue with theevents that we've been doing.
I mean, um, we got a big eventcoming up um the end of february
.
We got you know we'll be at thegreat american outdoor show.
Um, not at a booth, people,we're we're not there yet.
I don't have that type of moneyyet, but we will be in
(01:04:39):
attendance at the great Americanoutdoor share, like we are
every year.
You know we'll be having thegame dinner, we will be doing an
archery shoot or something likethat and, if we have time,
maybe do something else.
You know, get hunts together, but that's kind of you know the
big thing for two.
Then, of course, out of statehunts and killing big bucks and
(01:04:59):
a big bear.
You know that is the, of course, but um, yeah, those two things
there are going to be the, thebig keys for 2025.
Can you believe we're saying2025?
That's crazy, absolutely insane.
We are getting old.
I'm starting to get the grayhairs.
(01:05:19):
I already got it.
I found one, so I've gotten afew here.
But then I had one in like mymain beard area and I was like,
oh geez, the grays are coming, guys, let me.
Let me tell you, I got a chairthrown at me yesterday at work.
Speaker 6 (01:05:38):
So I didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
I didn't tell him.
Well, first of all, more thanthat, I had the craziest work
weekend, off topic andeverything like that.
But everyone knows I work in apsych hospital psych, behavioral
, psych and behavioral.
So on Saturday the nurse comesin and goes hey, they need you
on the other side, Like there'sthere's a crisis, but not like I
(01:06:00):
.
They need you on the other sidethere's a crisis, but I'm not
thinking it's anything majorbecause they'll come get me
sometimes even for little tinycrisis, like nothing major.
I didn't hear anything like no,hey, there's a code, there's no
nothing.
So I'm not thinking anything ofit.
I walk over there, I get intothe nurse's station and I see
kids running on the other sideand then one of the nurses says
(01:06:21):
no, you like you, you need torun.
So I ran over there.
When I get there, a boy and agirl are fighting.
The guy has her in a full choke.
Hold Right, I jump on top, Imight be able to separate them.
I separate and the girl's moreof my concern because the rest
of them they're going to get theguy.
The girl, she's a beast.
(01:06:43):
I've known her since she waslike six, six years old.
Whatever, she's not yourtypical, she's the fighter, she
is strong too.
She's a very strong girl.
So and I also knew her.
So, like I, if there's going tobe someone that's going to be
able to calm her down and I alsoknew her so if there's going to
be someone that's going to beable to calm her down, I'm going
to be able to calm her down.
So I have her.
I'm like, hey, listen, calmdown.
(01:07:04):
The boy comes out of nowhere andpunches her right in the face
when I had her on the ground, sneaked her Whatever she's still
going to the security guard andthe rest of the staff.
They're able to get him in hisroom.
She's now hyperventing andeverything like that.
So, boy, I couldn't get her.
(01:07:24):
We couldn't get her up at thatexact moment.
But the boy, somebody, had togo somewhere.
The kid had to go to the choirroom.
So they walk her down.
I guess she saw that and Idon't know what happened.
But she wanted to go after himagain.
She couldn't go anywherebecause I was on, you know, I
wasn't letting her up, but thenhe punted her in the face or in
(01:07:46):
the head like absolutely it wasone of the most horrific things
I've seen in my seven yearsworking there where, like, just
straight up, like I don't knowhow, nothing serious happened to
her, like he, straight up,thank god nothing happened to
her.
Um, you know, we had we had todo our thing with, with him, we
(01:08:09):
had separated them, yada, yada, yada listen, unfazed.
She was on after 10-15 minutes.
She was sore but she wasunfazed by it.
She was ready, she would havebeen ready for to go for round
two.
Right that, that's the type ofgirl that you know, um, we were
dealing with.
Now the next day another boy inmy day room.
(01:08:30):
Um, he's always in trouble.
He's a jersey city kid.
Um grew up in in gangs andeverything like that very
misunderstood kid.
But he has a lot of angerbecause of just things and you
know I'm not going to get intoto it, but he just has a lot of
anger and resentment andeverything like that.
(01:08:51):
So I didn't kick him out the dayroom.
He didn't like that.
He threw milk at me.
He didn't like that.
He threw milk at me.
I'd milk all over the place.
Oh man, and I kicked him out.
You know I'm like did?
He got even closer, picked up achair and chucked it at me.
Now I knew it was coming so Iducked, but I guess I didn't
(01:09:11):
duck enough so it got me on theback.
So I have like this big bruise, cut whatever on my back.
So it hit the table, hit myback, popped up and when I stood
up it actually hit me on thehead and came down and hit me on
the head.
So I have like a little like alittle lump here too.
I don't, I don't get hurt,honestly, and I wouldn't even
say that, me being hurt, I don'tget.
(01:09:33):
These things really, reallydon't happen to me, um, not at
work, um, but it can.
Like I'm not saying it hasn't,like I've.
I've gotten punched in the face.
You know, a bunch of times I'vegotten headbutted.
I broke my nose and everythinglike that.
So, like things, in seven yearsyou were, I'm working psych and
behavioral, it's something'sgoing to happen, um, but that
(01:09:56):
that was the weekend that I wasrolling with.
Like this is a holiday weekend, you know, and it's.
It makes me appreciate this andI love working with kids like I
, and this is knocking, and Itold the kid because he was
calling me a pussy andeverything like that, because I
didn't want to fight him, youknow, and I'm like and, and I
(01:10:16):
told, I told the kids I'm, I'm agrown man, I go, we're in, I'm
not fighting you, we're not onthe streets, I'm here to do a
job, right?
I understand what you're goingthrough and you're angry and
you're here.
I don't hold that and I don'thold it against the kid either
for throwing something at me.
I don't right.
He's here for a reason.
You know what I mean, for areason.
(01:10:40):
You know what I mean, um, butI'm not gonna fight you.
I'm gonna do everything in mypower not to fight you.
You know that.
I'm not losing also my job, yeah, and I'm not throwing away
my life because you, you want tohave a power trip, you know.
But it makes me appreciate whatI have and you know what I grew
up with too, and to see thesekids like it.
It sucks to see them there LikeI spend Christmas with them,
(01:11:03):
I'm going to spend New Year'swith them and everything like
that.
So I just want to you knoweveryone out there like I
appreciate everything that, thatthat you have and what we have,
and people go through a lot ofthings and you know it sucks out
there, but you know what, keepon going and it's, it's it's
(01:11:24):
going to be okay, and if youever need any help or anything
like that, so my phone's alwayshere.
This is what I do.
I love to do it, even withadults.
If you really truly need helpor you wanted someone to talk to
listen, you can DM me.
You can text me, whatever I, Iwill be there.
Um, and you know that any anyoneout there, uh that you know
(01:11:46):
that's one of the the things Iwant to say.
And, um, you know it's a um,it's another day at work, uh,
but boys, I mean, I think we'regonna, we're gonna slowly wrap
it up here.
I'd like to.
I think the fiancee would liketo spend some time with me.
Um, you know so, and I don'twant her throwing a chair at you
(01:12:09):
no definitely don't make ithurt.
The good thing is, at work, Iget to leave and then I get to
go.
If she throws a chair at methere, there's nowhere I can go
and I'm not sleeping on thecouch, I'm comfortable.
So I got to make her her happy.
So, guys, everyone out there, all the listeners, thank you so
(01:12:31):
much, like I said, for all myamazing team that I have, thank
you.
You know some of the groups outthere that we have affiliates
with and everything like that, like racket or like gilly puck,
like um, hex hunting.
Um.
Now the new one, um that Ihaven't announced yet, but I
(01:12:52):
might as well.
Um, I never can.
I always butcher the name.
Uh, tied, we tied, we tied.
We just got that on onChristmas Eve and I signed, I
accepted it on on Christmas day.
Um, so really looking for that.
I love their boots.
I've actually been using theirboots now.
(01:13:12):
Um, I used a range finder fortwo years.
Two years, okay, do you?
I?
I plan on getting like a.
Um, they have the, they havethe, they have ground blind.
That I like.
Uh, I've heard great thingsabout their, their waders and
everything like that.
Um, have some of theirbackpacks that I absolutely love
I'm just very rough when itcomes to my, uh, my backpack.
(01:13:33):
So, um, I actually broke um oneof the things on my backpack
because it was late season and Ithink I got frustrated and I
tried pulling something and Ijust pulled the zipper right off
, so I got to get myself anotherone.
But love their backpacks, everything like that, look out
for them.
Of course, I cannot forget RatGetter.
(01:13:56):
Shout out to Gerard If you'relooking for some great scents
and everything like that, makesure you go check them out.
Make sure you check out uh,moultrie too.
Um, love their cameras.
Listen, my cameras are stillrunning on video mode and in the
winter, yeah, mine too.
Yeah, oh, I, I'm a big uh trailcamera guy.
Loved collecting Intel.
(01:14:17):
It's a huge shout out to themand I think that's all.
There might be one more.
There is one more.
It is actually a med kit.
It is a medical kit that I douse and everything like that.
All the links should be in thedescription below.
I have two or three of them, god forbid.
(01:14:39):
You never know what you'regoing to experience out there.
It was always great to eitherhave a med kit on you or in the
truck or something like that.
So I do have one of those, butum boys, any any last words from
any of you guys.
Zach, it was a pleasure tofinally get you on.
I know you, you know you'rebusy and everything like that
it's hunting season andeverything like that but hope to
hear more from you and, youknow, to get to meet up with you
(01:15:00):
some more and do some huntswith you.
It was a blast during bearseason yeah, it was.
Speaker 7 (01:15:05):
I can't wait to uh do
it again next year and maybe we
get some late season hunting inthis year before the end of
winter bow definitely.
Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
Yeah, I'm definitely
down um squash any any last
words no, I think we're good man, like I said, just looking
forward to the upcoming year and, uh, you know, getting some
hunts in with you guys and we'llget it done.
We're gonna have a good, goodseason.
Spring's gonna be awesome.
I'm looking forward to springand hopefully I have some crazy
(01:15:33):
stories about killing these damncoyotes and ox and everything I
go after out here in the nextweek or two.
So, uh, you know we'll bring it.
Yeah, definitely definitelyfrank.
Speaker 4 (01:15:47):
No, I just wanted to
wish everybody a happy new year
and you know I'm looking forwardto 2025 and see when it brings.
And you know, let's get afterit, boys.
I'm excited'm excited.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
Yeah, we're closing
2024 out Big, big things coming
in 2025.
We took a big step in 2024.
We're going to take an evenbigger step in 2025.
Anyone who's interested also, you know, look out and I'll be
making this more known.
I am looking for interns too.
It is getting a lot to run allthese things.
(01:16:21):
We plan on bringing a whole newshow to the podcast or to the
company and everything and anyof the guys that want to come
out with their own shows.
I am 100% backing any of myguys coming out with shows, with
the shows or any ideas doingthese events, anything like that
.
So if you're somebody who wantsto get into the to the industry
(01:16:46):
, um, wants to learn how to editor or do any of these things,
or wants to come film oranything like that, listen, we
are going to be looking forinterns or or somebody to come
help us out.
We're getting bigger and bigger.
It is getting harder and harderfor myself to do it all, so I'm
going to be looking for that.
(01:17:07):
Happy New Year's everyone, andwe'll see you guys next time.
