In today's episode, we'reexcited to give you a sneak peek
into Module 3 of our upcomingcourse, reclaiming your Birth
Story, which will be launchingthis May.
(01:08):
Module 3 is all about reframingyour birth narrative and we
can't wait to share thetransformative power of this
process with you all.
Reframing your birth storyinvolves consciously shifting
your perspective and finding newways to view your experience.
It empowers you to see thestrengths, resilience and growth
that emerge from your birthjourney, even amidst the
(01:29):
challenges.
It's about acknowledging thatyour birth experiences is not
defined solely by thedifficulties you face.
Instead, it's an opportunity torecognize the moments of
courage, love and personalgrowth that were present during
that time.
Reframing allows you to reclaimyour narrative and find new
(01:50):
meaning and purpose in yourbirth story.
It enables you to focus on thepositive aspects, lessons
learned and the ways in whichyour experience has shaped you.
One of the key steps inreframing your birth narrative
is identifying the negativebeliefs and narratives that may
have stemmed from your birthexperience.
These beliefs can impact yourself-perception, confidence and
(02:12):
overall well-being as a mother.
It's important to recognizethat these negative beliefs are
not always based on facts.
They may be influenced bysocietal expectations, personal
judgment or the intensity of theemotions surrounding your birth
.
By questioning the validity ofthese beliefs and exploring
alternative perspectives, youcan start to loosen their grip
(02:35):
on the narrative and createspace for more empowering and
compassionate stories to emerge.
In Module 3, we'll dive intovarious techniques for reframing
your birth narrative.
One powerful technique iscalled narrative reconstruction.
Narrative reconstructioninvolves rewriting your birth
story from a more empowering andcompassionate perspective.
It's about highlighting yourstrengths, resilience and the
(02:59):
growth that occurred throughoutyour journey.
Another technique we explore isgratitude practice.
By cultivating gratitude forthe aspects of your birth
experience that you appreciate, you can shift your focus towards
the positive and find meaningin your story.
We also encourage seeking outalternative stories from women
who have navigated birthdifficulties and found positive
(03:20):
outcomes.
Hearing these stories canprovide inspiration, hope and a
broader perspective on thepossibilities for healing and
growth.
We wanted to give our listenersa taste of the reframing process
.
This is something I did duringmy own healing journey, so
Natalie is going to walk usthrough this activity together.
Think of a challenging momentfrom your birth experience that
(03:42):
has been difficult to process ormove past.
Take a deep breath and considerthe following questions what
strengths did you demonstrate inthat moment?
So for this example, we'regoing to use my own experience
of when I had my retainedplacenta and I was being
transferred to the hospital.
So in my moment of fear anduncertainty, I feel like I
(04:08):
demonstrated some strength andresilience.
Even though I was scared andcould barely hold my newborn in
an unfamiliar situation, I triedto stay present and focused on
what needed to be done, and Itried to trust in my body's
ability to heal and follow theguidance of my medical team.
(04:28):
Looking back, I realized that Ipossessed an inner strength
that carried me through thechallenging experience.
That's really great.
How did you support yourself orreceive support from others?
During the hospital transferand the moments that followed, I
supported myself by taking deepbreaths and reminding myself
(04:49):
that I was incapable hands.
I held my baby close as much asI could until I couldn't
anymore, finding comfort in ourconnection.
I also received invaluablesupport from my partner, who
stayed by my side, offeringreassurance and advocating for
my needs.
The medical staff providedprofessional support, explaining
(05:12):
the situation and ensuring thatI received the necessary care.
The love and support I receivedfrom my family and friends
after my birth also played acrucial role in my emotional
recovery.
Yeah, what lessons or insightdid you gain from that
experience?
So I feel like this experiencetaught me kind of about
(05:33):
surrendering control andtrusting the process when things
don't go according to plan.
I learned that I have thestrength to adapt and overcome
challenges, and I gained adeeper appreciation for my
medical team, who really helpedme through the process, just
(05:55):
realizing the importance ofself-compassion and allowing
myself the time and space toprocess and heal.
From my experience We've allheard my birth turning and all
the twists and turns, but it'sreally shown me the depths of my
own resilience and just havinga lot of support.
(06:16):
Yeah, and if you're everinterested in going back, you

challenging moment in a moreempowering light.

(06:38):
journey through a new lens.
You start to recognize thethreads of strength and love
woven throughout your experience.
