Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everyone, today we are going to discuss on
Galatians two sixteen andhereafter we will discuss on the
subsequent verses and we will goeach verse by verse into a study
on Galatians. So let's dive intoit. Galatians chapter two verse

16 (00:22):
We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the
Gentiles. Nevertheless, knowingthat a man is not justified by
the works of the law, butthrough faith in Christ Jesus,
even we have believed in ChristJesus so that we may be
justified by faith in Christ andnot by the works of the law,
since by the works of the law noflesh will be justified. This is

(00:46):
Paul talking to Peter.
I am not going to get into allof that, but there are some very
key theological terms here whichI want to explain. So here Paul
talks about justification. Sowhat is justification?
Justification is more of acourtroom language. It means
just as if you have not sinnedor you're not guilty anymore.

(01:11):
So Paul says that we are notjustified by the works of the
law but through faith in ChristJesus. So let's go back to what
were we guilty of. When we goback into the Garden of Eden, we
know that Adam and Eve sinnedand because of the sin of Adam

(01:31):
and Eve, we were all born insin. Every single person was
born in sin. Then what happened?
Over the years, God made acovenant with Abraham and
through which Israelites wereformed and you saw that the
Israelites were given the oldcovenant which were a bunch of

(01:52):
rules and regulations andceremonies and things that they
had to do including the morallaw and everything. Six thirteen
laws which they had to keep. Soit was a performance based
system that if they kept the lawthey were safe. But if they
didn't keep the law, they wouldhave a bunch of curses that

(02:13):
would come their way. On theother hand, we have Jesus
Christ.
He came to this earth. He diedfor our sins. He rose and He's
resurrected and He's in heavenright now. So Paul is saying
that we have to believe andtrust in Jesus Christ that means
when we have faith in ChristJesus we are justified and that

(02:37):
means we're just as if we havenot sinned. On the other hand,
if you do the six, seven andthirteen laws, will you be
justified?

No! And it says very clearly (02:46):
by the works of the law no flesh
will be justified and it's veryclear if you're trying to keep
the law you're not justifiedyou're still in sin but if you
have faith in Christ Jesus ifyou approach God saying that

(03:06):
God, I have sinned and I cannotdo this on my own. I trust you.
You're righteous. That verymoment, you're righteous by
Christ Jesus.
You have the righteousness ofGod in Christ Jesus.
