Another amazing conversation this time with a creative voice that worked to create real change in the comics industry.
Barbara Randall Kesel is a comic book writer and editor with work for DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, and CrossGen. At Dark Horse, she helped create the Golden City setting. She entered comics by writing a critique on female character portrayals to editor Dick Giordano. A vocal opponent of sexism in the industry, she is known for strong female characters, including Grace from Comics' Greatest World. She was a Harvey Award nominee in 1995 and 1996, winning for Hellboy: The Wolves of St. August.
Barbara discusses how writing a 10 page letter to DC comics secured her a job, finding the right fit in the companies she worked for and how approaching angry fans with kindness may be a better approach.
