do the first WWE episode we did a few months ago,
but I forgot to put that sound clip in there,
and then I did. Also, I didn't remember until we
were halfway done recording that show.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Ah, so now you got to use it.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yes, very nice.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
I liked it. Yeah, And I don't know very much
about Attitude Era. Yeah, I've learned a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
That's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Well that's and who was that ring announcer or announcer
that you were doing.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh that was the road Dog Jesse James and the
Badass Billy Gun New Age Outlaws, also members of Degeneration X,
one of the greatest factions of all time. Oh yeah, yeah,
no that much. Oh yeah, all right. Yeah, So we're
talking about Attitude Era, Yes we are. We are discussing
from nineteen ninety seven to two thousand and two.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I'll discuss as much as I know, which isn't much.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Please feel free to I'm open to all questions.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
I know because that's when it was really big for you.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yeah, oh yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
So what was.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I have so many questions for you. So what was
your first was Attitude era? Like your first memory of it?
Speaker 1 (02:30):
I start, well, I started watching pro wrestling. I started
with WCW. The Attitude Era was kind of just kicking
off right when when Stunning Steve Austin became stone cold
Steve Austin. I saw that King of the Ring after
he won King of the Ring in ninety six and
(02:51):
beat Jake the Snake Roberts. I saw him do the
uh you sit there and you thump your bible, thump
through your bible, then you read your psalms and talk
about your John three sixteen. Well, Austin three sixteen says,
I just whooked your ass. I'm like this guy, this
guy's cool. Oh my god, I'm gonna watch this one.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
His story of how his catchphrase and his name and
everything came about.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Well, when he was in WCW back in the early nineties,
he had long blonde hair and the reason he shaved
his head bald is because he goes, well, I'm losing
my hair anyway, might as well just cut it all off, right,
because his hairline really started like at the at the
top of his scalp. But yeah, so what.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Uh okay, So who was the biggest superstar of the
Attitude Era.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
It was definitely Stone Cold?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Was it stone Cold?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yeah? Yeah, stone It was definitely him.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Okay. There was a lot of rustlers who got their
start like towards the end of the Attitude era.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Yeah yeah, well uh well actually, uh, right in the
middle of it is when Our Truth made his debut.
Really yeah, he started in nineteen ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Oh that's awesome. Yeah, an Attitude era was ninety seven
Depth two.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
So yeah our Truth actually uh hashtag we want Truth?
Yeah he uh, he got his start right smack in
the middle of it all. Yeah, Ronzina. Yeah, and he
was he wasn't the guy like that that we know now, right.
He was a little goofy but quick he was. Yeah,
(04:38):
but he was like he was also like a serious
oh yeah yeah guy.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Right then he kind of changed his.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Bit towards once the Attitude Era was over. He kind
of turned into the the funny the funny guy.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Of course, isn't this when like, like you said, degeneration X.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, they started, Yeah d X was was popping off.
That's this one. Suck it was when they.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Were I remember teach you remember when they were teaching young.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
To do suck it to grown ups? Ye Oh, I was.
I was in that mix.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
My best friend at the time, Damien, he actually got.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Oh was he a wrestling fan back in the day? Oh?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
All the well, there were no girls in the neighborhood.
It was just guys.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Most of the most of the kids in your friend
group back in the day.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Literally there were two females. One of them was a
very large, manly female and she just played basketball, and
then uh, the other one was two actually three, there
were three girls. Two of the other girls were just
super prissy and were like into ballerinas and princesses and
(05:49):
shit right, and the rest literally like ten or twelve
were boys. So all of the boys were doing like
wrestling stuff and talking about wrestling, yeah, which we didn't
really have TV back in the day to watch the
wrestling stuff and whatever. But that's when I remember one
of my friends, Damien, he got suspended for a week
(06:10):
from school for telling his teacher to suck it, and
then he looked at his principal when his principal came
to talk to him and told him to suck it.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I'm surprised a lot of your friends that you grew
up with watched it and you and Jas didn't watch it.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Think about who our parents were. Yeah, sexual in the windows.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
And now we had your mom over for Night one
of WrestleMania, and she was like, oh this is fun.
I love this.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
This is so great.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Oh yeah, it was a Sunday. Oh yeah, She's like,
oh this is great, this is a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
I'm pretty sure Gunner made her watch a couple episodes
while he's been over.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
There, Oh for sure. And do you believe she likes.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Norman Rainsins, not Tom and Nick Mysterio that's her son, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Oh the uh and probably Cody Roads. Well, no, Cody
Roads isn't her type.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Don't you kidding me? A tall, blonde young man dressed
to the nines the way he is.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
I don't know if she's ever seen him in a
suit though, that's fair. She seen him in his wrestling gear.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
But I have to show him on I would love to.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Show him off to my mother. I just want to
see her reaction.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
This is Cody Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
She'll have the same reaction to see her.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
God.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
So, like I said, the D Generation, the d X,
the suckets, you know, can you you can smell with
the rocks cooking?
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (07:46):
I got that a lot.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
There were there were other factions during that time. We
had no that's a tack team. Uh, but they came
in kind of towards the end of it or in
the middle.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Isn't that where tag teams were getting like really really popular.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Not really they were. They were still hopping, like even
in like the the eighties and early nineties and stuff,
they were hopping. One of the most iconic Shawn Michaels,
was a part of the rockers, him and Marty Jannetty.
Their their theme song is like it's pretty cool, but
it's like like late eighties, early nineties like rock and roll. Yeah,
and there they actually they in two thousand and two
(08:27):
they had a little reunion.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
That's cool.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
It was Dopel But no, there was the Nation of
Domination that was the rock Ferouke, Dilo Brown and Mark Henry.
They were all a part of that Mark Henry.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Is that the big.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Sexual Chocolate Mark Henry.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah, that's where Buckner got that nickname.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
From sexual Chocolate makes Mark Henry. Yeah. Uh. There was
the Corporation, which was like Vince Shane big boss man.
There was a lot of of like corporate types and
that all the suit and tie guys gotcha. Uh. And
then there was the Ministry, which was led by the Undertaker,
and then you had the Brood, which was like it
(09:11):
was Gangrel led that and he had edgend Christian with
him and their their characters are like vampires. They would
come up out as big back in.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
The late nineties early two thousands. Vampires.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Yeah. Their theme is fucking sick though.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I'll have to listen to that one too.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
I actually on one of our very early episodes, uh
I did ah. I think it was like a ghost
Stories episode. Oh yeah, like ghost stories from Reddit and
uh there are Our theme for that episode was the
was the Brood theme song, Oh God, You're.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Gonna get us pulled. It's gonna get no, it's still
up surprising. Yeah, I guess nobody cares about our previous episodes.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, it was. It was one of those like your
last year at the Haunt, and I had to do
the show by myself, and.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
You were reading people's ghost stories that they sent Yeah,
because I know Tammy sent in one.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah. Oh yeah we had a few people.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
I had a couple.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah. It was pretty sick. But yeah, if you go
back and listen to that episode, it's it's probably like
the ninth or tenth episode of our show.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
So were there any more factions?
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Not really, those were like the main ones. Yeah, but
d X was.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Like yeah, top yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah, Triple eight. It was led by Triple eight, Shawn Michaels,
who else China, Tory, road Dog, Billy Gunn and XPOC.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Now I do have to say, watching the what I
have of the Attitude era, huh, they were not afraid
of anything. Oh god, No, nobody whoever got into that
ring was not afraid of anything. Oh for sure, Like
there was more like why aren't they dead moments.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Well that's because Mick Foley was in the locker room,
and that's what happens when you when you get the
ring with Mick Foley.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Not only well yeah that's true, but it seems like
every time Triple H got into the ring too. He
also was bloody every time. Yeah, regardless.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Well, what's what's funny is is every time Triple H
got in the ring with Mick.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
There was blood everywhere.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
He would go from mankind and he would make him
fight Cactus Jack. And funny enough, there was I forget,
I forget the Royal Rumble it was, but Mick Foley
was in the Royal Rumble three times. Yeah, how is
that possible? Well, man and mankind and dude Love. Yeah, yep,
that's yeah, it's the three faces of folly.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Every time he got thrown out, he'd come back.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yeah, he would. He could be like the first one
in and then he would get eliminated, and then a
little while he's now he's dude Love. He gets eliminated.
Now he comes back, now he's Cactus Jack.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
So which one of the three are would you be
most scared of?
Speaker 1 (11:53):
For sure, cactus Jack. I mean I'm sure Cactus Jack.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
You I've only seen one or two of his matches
his Cactus Jack. Most of them has.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Been well I've shown you. Uh it wasn't an Attitude
era match. But he fought Randy Orton. Remember when Randy
Orton had the thumb tat he flipped him. He monkey
flipped him and Randy had thumbtacks all his back. Was
the dazzling supposed to.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Be it was supposed to be fully who who flipped? Yeah,
like Orton set it up, but flip fully but fully
flipped around and hit him Cactus.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Yeah. And then there was the Hell in a Cell
I think at No Way out, Oh, something like that,
Triple H. And then there was Royal Rubble in two
thousand where it was a street fight with Triple H
and Cactus. Yes, okay, but those are those are my top.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Now. Like I said, there's like you literally no one
had fear. They knew what they were getting into. Oh,
I were like, let's go, let's go. Every wrestler that well,
every match that I've watched, oh yeah, Dudley boys always
Bubain devon shout out, always like not just pain on
(13:14):
other people, but pain on themselves. Yeah, hardy boys, Holy.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Crap, oh god. Yeah. Actually, speaking of the Hardy Boys,
I told you this earlier, but for those of you
not in the know as of the recording of this,
thirty one years ago today, a sixteen year old Jeff
Hardy made his WWE debut against Raiser Ramone and lost
on the episode of Monday Night Raw.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
That's funny.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Yeah, lion shit, yep, we got Jeff Heart. Today is
Jeff Hardy's pro wrestling anniversary.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Did you know that he was sixteen?
Speaker 1 (13:46):
No? No, he lied about his age, But did anybody
know when he was like older? Like, oh, well, we
can't do a thing about it. Now he's like, oh
I was totally sixteen. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
They're like, yeah, happy twenty eighth birthday. He's like, actually,
I'm thirty.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Happy, Happy pro wrestling anniversary to Jeff Hardy.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Happy birthdays.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
We love you, Jeff Hardy. We're fans. We're huge fans.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Jesus, he's fly high flyer, high jumper. He took all
of the nasty hits and still got up and kept going.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
He's the enigma. He's the enigma.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
And you know, I never really had an appreciation for Edge.
Yeah until I watched Attitude Aero. Shit.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Yeah, well I remember the first EDGE match I showed you,
was there, that triple tag team Triple Threat SummerSlam TLC. Yes, yeah,
that was awesome. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
They don't have TLC matches like that anymore.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
They did the Friday Night before SmackDown. Remember Street Profit
on SmackDown before before WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Yes, yeah, that was awesome. Yeah, I wish they would
do more matches like.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
It was a TLC.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Yeah, I mean it wasn't as like bloody and painful
and but.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
They still it was a fucking slaber knocker match put
on a hell of a show. Oh yeah, I mean, hell,
the street profits are still sore from it. Yeah from
I mean, but yeah, that was awesome.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
I need to watch more Christian stuff because I haven't
seen a whole lot of the Christian stuff.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
He wasn't awesome that. I don't think they used him
right once him in Edge like split part ways. Well
once they split ways, well he.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Really came out.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
He was a tag team guy, gotcha, that's what That's
what they saw him as. Oh so they didn't a.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Shot as a singles I mean.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
He's he's former WWE World Champion, but they kind of
screwed him over. I think that's why he left and
went to a w uh ed. The reason Edge went
was because he's like, I've done everything there is to
do here, everything I got nothing left here, so I
want to go do stuff I haven't done. And he
(15:59):
Edge left f WW on good terms.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
So he can go back in any time.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
At this point, he could, but he won't.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I know he won't.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
He's got it, made it a but he's he's going
to be a future Hall of Famer or he is
a Hall of Famer. I think I don't remember, but yeah,
for sure, I'm.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Trying to think of any other questions that I might have.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Well, I do know that Big Nick requested that we
talk about the Undertaker mankind Helen Cell.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Okay, that is probably one of my favorite matches that
I've watched so far.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah, I've watched it twice. Yeah, once with you and
Jason Well we because I remember we were both like, no,
we won't have this. You slandering pro wrestling.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Watch this and you're like, oh fuck, this is cool.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
That's that kind of guided me to it. But I
was just like meh, I mean, it's cool, but there's blood,
there's pain.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
And there's mc foley's tooth up his nose. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
I was like, Okay, this is cool. But then I
watched it again here recently and it was like holy shit,
and I realize.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Yeah, now as a wrestling fan seeing it, you're like fuck, yes, yep,
you have the same reaction that all of us who
were like watching it live as it's going down, like,
oh my god, this is yes, this match fucking is iconic.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Honestly, mcfuley is God when it comes to wrestling, Like
he is top tier. He is god status.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Some people have Jesus, some people have Buddhas, some people
have Odin. I have mckfoley. Nick, my god can beat
all of your gods.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Up absolutely, and he's not scared.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
No, he will beat all of your gods with a
barbed wire released two by four Yes on fire. I
was gonna say, and then flip him onto thumbtacks well
while his tooth is in his nose. No.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
I honestly, McK foley is probably like everything I've watched
so far, he's he's my favorite.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
And did you know that he spends his time as
a Santa Claus. That is, he is a six time
New York Times best selling author, children's books and a
biography called Have An I Stay.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
If I ever run into him as Santa Claus, I'm
gonna cry, but yeah, he I will believe in Santa
because of well, he.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Mainly does it for like first children who are sick.
He'll go to like kids, hospitals and and he'll he'll
be Santa for them. Mick Foley is the coolest, coolest guy.
He's the sweetest. Well I do.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Believe he's here OVW a couple of times a month.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Oh yeah, well his his best friend Al Snow is here. Yeah,
who was a huge part of the Attitude era? Is Heah?
Speaker 2 (18:41):
I know, I've watched two of his matches.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Multi time w w F Hardcore Champion, Sorry, w w
E Hardcore Champion Champion.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
What is that exactly?
Speaker 1 (18:53):
It's the the hardcore title. It's the uh picture a title,
but it was made specifically for ship that Nick Foley does.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Oh so kind of like Haunted House Awards. No well, no, no, no, no,
no like that kind of title. It's for you know
how they have the top title to where it's like, well,
did you break yourself well doing this? Did you hurt yourself?
Did you go to the extreme? Did you are you dedicated?
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Like hardcore matches where like stuff like false count anywhere,
matches no disqualification. Yeah, matches where you fight, you're fighting
in the lock, having your match like takes it you
take it back to the locker room out into the
parking there's sometimes yet matches would go out into the
parking lot of the arena like outside, but it was
(19:45):
it was the Winged Eagle, the old WWE world title,
but like broken into pieces and held together by duct
tape and across the front edge just set hardcore written and.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Hold together with barbed wires and duct tape. That would
have been cool too.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yeah, I'll here, I'll show you a photo of it.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
It's so while you're pulling that up. There's one match
that came to mind when you said fighting in the
parking lot, and it was the It wasn't really a
tag team, but it seemed like it, but it was,
uh sick. I like that a six person I wouldn't
say triple the six person match with Stone Cold, Triple
(20:29):
H Rock the Yeah, when they took it outside of
the cell and.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Yes, the Kishieddon.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Yes, that was probably one of the coolest.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
It's one of my favorite matches.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
And it's so funny how it's like Triple H and
Stone Cold was just focused on beating the ship out
of each other. Yeah, and then like.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Yeah, it was up on top of the cell Thattaker
and then k angle.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
D angle in the Rock going at it, but then
like Kurt Angle would like the Rock would knock him out.
Then he'd be like, all right, he's out, Who am
I fighting? Then he'd run over to Triple H and
like beat his face in and then Stone Cold would
get up and like punch the rock and the Rock
would fly, and then the Rock and Triple H would
start fighting, and it was just like a back and
(21:20):
forth that. Yeah, that was a good match too, for
I was very well executed. Yeah, but Mick Fuley helen
a cell with Undertaker and the tooth and the nose was.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Just it's like, it's one of the most iconic matches
of all time and it.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Was fully and Triple H helen the cell when he
fell through and hit the ring and broke the ring,
that one was awesome.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah, Fley has fallen from the cell three times and
it was oops, you see face.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Like that wasn't supposed to happen, but played off well.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yeah, And if you look the at the at the
roof of the cell, you can tell that it's a
little more reinforced to try to prevent that from happening
because the original design of the cell was just a
cross beam from this end to this end and then
here to hear it and you're not really supposed to
be on top of it. But yeah, Foley's like, you
(22:20):
know what, these people paid a lot of money for this.
I'm gonna give him a show.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Though I feel like it was an accident.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Well they're actually The Undertaker talks about that. Matt one, Yeah,
and he was saying he was Fully was trying to
tell Taker, hey, throw me off, and Taker's like, no,
do you see how far down this is? No, I'm
not doing it.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
No, I was talking about Triple H and oh Triple
H oh okay where oh that yes, where he goes
to hit Triple H onto the flaming two by four
with the barbed wire, but Triple H flips it, and
then yeah, fully was goes him down and then when
he falls through the roof and hits the hit the ring,
(23:03):
hit the ring, and he broke it and he just
laid there. Triple Ah's face went from ah uh oh
face and then he just had to go back into
character like real quick, like I did that.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Oh oops. And Stephanie's Stephanie.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
You could tell in her face She's like, oh no,
this is oh no, this.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Is yeah, everything is fine, Everything is good, everything is great.
Good job, babe. We're gonna be in so much trouble
for this.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Is he dead?
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Is he? It's like like that that meme of Homelander
on The Boys, where like he fucked up, but everyone's
cheering him and he's like, okay, yeah, I did good. Yes,
no U.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
That's the third one where fully went through.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Well he fell through two times. It was Undertaker.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Undertaker hit him twice.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Undertaker threw him off onto the announcer table, and then
as he was being willed out on a gurney, he
got off and then climbed back up to where the
Undertaker was on top. And if you notice Undertaker standing
on the cell still but they're lifting it up away
from the ring, and he's like, I'm up here.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
I'm still up here, guys.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
You not fucking see me. I'm on this. You're making
it higher.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
I'm out.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Do you not see what just happened to this man?
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Was that? Also is the Attitude era when Shane McMahon
jumped off.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
The he felt yes, oh yes, the Summer Slam he
Steve Blackman, when Steve Blackman hit him in the back
with a kindow stick and he yeah, and he fell
like thirty feet and landed flat on his back. Yes,
that was during that out of Shane. Okay, So Shane
McMahon was all about that life.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Oh I know, he said, just pick me up and throw.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Me one of his Do you know what a coast?
Have you ever seen a coast to coast? Do you
know what that is?
Speaker 2 (24:57):
I know what it is, but what is it?
Speaker 1 (24:59):
Like? I'm so you're laying down, like leaning up against
this turnbuckle. I'm going over onto this one and I'm
gonna jump from this end of the ring to that
end of the ring and kick you in the head
while you're like sitting on your ass with your head. Yeah, Shane,
(25:20):
that Shane McMahon invented that. That's called a coast to coast. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
I don't think Shane McMahon gets enough kudos everything he
went through. I don't either, Like he's the dominic mysterio
of the attitude area.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
He's elbow dropped from the top of the hell in
the cell onto the announcement, He's thrown his own carcass
I know several times.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
And how many times was he thrown into the wall panels? Okay,
So that I know the first time we didn't break.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Well it was it wasn't when Kurt Angle was it
wasn't it wasn't meant to break.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
I know.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
But nobody told Kurt Angle this. He was like, oh,
I'll just put you through it. And Shane's like, dude,
this isn't no, and then bam, it didn't break. Well,
let's do it again, Kurt. Stop you're hurting me.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
Kurt, No, I don't want He kept saying, do it
again if they wanted it to br no, no, no,
I know. But if you watch it back, yeah, Shane
was like, every time he would pick me up, I'd
tell him in his ear, do.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
It again, let's try to break it. Yeeah. And then
Kurl's like okay, all right, and then yeah so yeah.
And then when they were behind the set, he's like,
well that one's not broke. Well let's go poor Shane. Yeah,
he's a he's awesome Shane McMahon, great, heel yes, great,
(26:34):
slimy fucking snake in the grass, sneaky, sneaky, Shane is
way sneaky. Shane McMahon would dog walk Logan pol back
in the day. Oh my prime. Shane McMahon versus Logan Paul.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
So when it gets cold and there's nothing to do
outside for us to like go out and do stuff,
let's watch the entire Attitude from start to finish.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
That's a lot. That is five years. So yeah, five
years of wrestling.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
We watched all fifteen seasons of fucking Supernatural?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
How many? How many? How many weeks are in the
year fifty two times five? That's that many rolls and
that many smackdowns plus five years worth of pay.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Per views and Sunday Night heat.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Okay, that's a lot. Okay, okay, okay, I'll.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Get home at four o'clock. We can start watching there. Yeah,
we'll can at least get two episodes a day.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
On May twenty seventh, nineteen ninety seven, is when we're
we will start. I will show you every fucking match. Okay,
let's go every promo cut. One of one of my
favorite moments is and I've shown you this. It was
stone cold driving the beer truck out to the ring.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Did he sprays everybody?
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Oh my god, I just want to be in the
ring with my mouth open.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Ah. I wonder what kind of beer it was.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
It was definitely, but I think it was Coors Light actually,
because that was.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
His beer of choice, wasn't it.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Uh beer beer mostly. I think Budweiser was because they
had a sponsorship with Anheuser, gotcha.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Yeah, stone Cold was.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
A lot of times he would have and Jim Ross
would always call them Steve Wiser's I want to be
the I wanted my job to be the guy who
is sitting next to his cooler, and I'm the guy
who you see throwing beers to Stone Cold. But if
you watch those a lot of times where like the
guy who throws beers will like bullseye it, but Stone
(28:33):
Cold will drop it, and then Stone Cold will get
pissed at him. It's like, God, damn it, Just throw
me another one.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
They needed to get a baseball player.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Yeah, like a picture.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
Yeah, you really want to cam thrown at your face.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Oh, he's gonna catch it almost every time, but there's
a few times where he dropped.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
I do have to say the Attitude era brought one
of my favorite wrestlers in Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
Who's that? Oh fucking Lida the best, the best female
superstar of all time.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Fucking love Leader, Like I love Bailey, Yeah, I love Bailey.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
But you love Leada a little more, a.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Little bit more than a little more Leada. It is
fucking awesome, Oh for sure, Like she's the best. She
brought the noise. And uh, Trish, Yeah, I love the fact,
like I know, before Attitude Era, all of the female wrestlers.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Those two made me a man.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
It was like pillow fight.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
I used to like, I want to take care of
these two. I will pay their bills. I love them,
I care about them, They're my sweeties. I love me
as a teenage boy watching these two.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Wow. But the girls previous to them too, and they
were like it was like a Saturday night girls night
pillow fights what men or boys thought girls sleepovers used
to be.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Yeah, where it.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Was like everybody's in bra and panties. Yeah, they're like stop, now,
you stop, I'm gonna smack you.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Leita and Trish definitely erased that, and I'm glad they did.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
They paved I feel like they paved the way for
female wrestlers.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Now they did. If it wasn't for them, Uh, and
then you had you had women like there was Stacey Keebler,
Tory Wilson, Oh, Molly Holly, Oh, she was fantastic. She
actually is she trains female superstars now. Molly Holly, Yeah,
(30:49):
she was. She was fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
She would still like to watch them.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
She had a relationship with a little Spike Dudley. It
was Devon and Bubba. He was like the third Dudley boy.
But he was a runt. I need to show you
the beatings that guy took. He's a he's a teacher now.
I think he's like a sixth grade English teacher or
something like that. That poor guy used to oh my
(31:13):
heel Undertaker, heal American badass character. Undertaker would just toss
him around like a fucking toy and he would just
be he He would just pick him up one hand
choked slam and throw him out of the ring. Holy shit,
nothing to land on, and he would nine out of
ten times land straight on top of his fucking head.
(31:33):
This dude was made out of rubber.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yikes, but that's what happens when you're young.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
But no, Spike was God damn. That dude took an
ass whooping all the time. But Molly Holly was like, Oh,
he's so cute. I think I wanted him to be
my boyfriend.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
And they were to watch the more the female stuff.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
I want to show you some Undertaker beating the fuck
out of Spike so sad it hurt my feelings because
Undertaker is so big. Yeah, it's a giant and Spike Doudley.
It would be like like Amos throwing around someone's child. No,
like like a five year old. Oh like funk that kid? O.
(32:16):
That's like, holy shit, this giant behemoth of a man
and this small like child looking man. He was just
fucking well. Spike Dudley was like like my height.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Amos throwing Jordan around.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
It'd be like Amos throwing me around, because Spikedudley was
about like our height. Okay, but yeah, because Jordan is
short him too shorter? Yes, yeah throw, but with Jeff's build,
it's kind of weird to think about chucking a small
child around.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
He is a small child.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
No, but Spike was cool. He was fun.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
So I definitely need to watch more of those lai. Yeah,
because Lida and Trish are the only two that I
know of.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
Yeah, again, Tory was good. Lida my favorite. Jacqueline she
was black lady but like muscle short, tiny woman.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
But she was.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Jacked like Jade but shorter, yes, like.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
A smaller Jade. Cargill. Then you had Ivory, who was
she was? She was really technical. She was a very
good technical wrestler, like EO. Not not so much high flying,
but more of like like a tiny little powerhouse kind
of Alexa Bliss. Okay, like that, but a lot more.
(33:41):
Her characters are always like super serious. She was never
like behind the scenes she was like goofy and haha.
But when she was in character and doing KFE, she
was like, no, we're not. This is women shouldn't be. No,
I'm gonna kick someone's ass and she would right and
can't forget about China. Yeah, oh god, yes of the world.
One of my favorites. Yeah, Mama Sita. She is scary,
(34:05):
the original Mommy.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
I would I honestly if.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
She would fuck rear ripley up.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
You could take Ria back to the attitude era as
she is now and put her against China.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Why, somebody out there do a computer thing to put
them against each other.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
She was Ria, minus the crying and whining when she
doesn't get her way. That's Avatid and the only uh well, no,
the first because Nia Jackson has been in the men's Rumble,
but the first ever female to be in the men's
were the only female to ever win a men's title
in a continental champion.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Who did she take on for that?
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Chris Jericho? Okay, it was a fun match. It's a
good match.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
That's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
Or no, no, I'm sorry, Jeff Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett, see, I.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Know the name, but I can't put a face to it.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
He later on went in a c wtch.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
But yeah, wasn't the Attitude era when?
Speaker 1 (35:07):
And funny enough, Jeff Jarrett's kids used to Uh, Taylor
Swift was their babysitter before she was famous. Huh yeah,
she's like friend of the family.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Friend of the show, not our show. God, no Taylor anyway,
So wasn't the Attitude era? Also, this the when it
was like w CW versus uh.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
The Monday Night Wars. Yeah, we're gonna do an episode
on that, like later on down the road.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
When I can actually get into it and actually.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
I need to show you more w c W.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
Yeah, yeah, like put the.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Take the focus off of WWE.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
But no, that that match, well, no, there were two matches,
but the one I'm thinking of was really really awesome
with that awesome twist at the end, which what the
the one where fuck who was it? My god, I
can't think of who it was. Fine, there was a
twist ending to where it was like somebody from WCW.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Oh, you're talking about when Shane on the last episode
of Monday Nightro when Shane showed up and said the
name on the contract does read no?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
No, it was actually in the match in the ring.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Oh well, so this was after Vince acquired right, but
it was.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
It was WCW ANDWW.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Survivor Series two thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
It was both sides against each other and it's like
a six person.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Tag team in stone cold Heel turned Yes, yes that one. Yes,
that's not Monday Night War.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Stuff, Okay, but that was still one of the cool matches.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
The Monday Night Wars ended on March twenty six, two
thousand and one. It was over Vince bought WC. Well,
Shane McMahon bought WCW. Okay, but yeah, that was a
holy shit because we all knew, like, this is the
last Monday Nightro.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
So something's going to happen.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
Yeah. The final match was staying in Rick Flair, which
was like I cried during that match because it's like
two guys who have like there it ended where it
started pretty much the two best ever Sting in the
Nature Boy and Sting won the final match on Monday. Nitro, Yeah,
it was Oh my god, I cried. It was so
(37:17):
and then and then here comes Vince. He's on raw
in Cleveland, but he's on programming on tnt ROW, which
which is where Nitro was, and.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Of course he has to ruin everything.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
There is the movie I want to show you is
I told you about it? Ready to Rumble with David Arquette.
That was the movie they made to try to save
w CW. But it didn't work. I love that movie
so much.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Doesn't isn't David Arkette in the Attitude.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Era or is he a little He was w CW, I.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Know, but during the Attitude era.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Yeah, it was during It was two thousand and one, okay,
so it was kind of like towards the end a
little bit. Yeah, okay, yeah. And then David Arquette won
the WCW world title. No one was happy about that.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Actually, Courtney Cox was on the next week's episode with him,
like David, why are you what are you? What are
you doing?
Speaker 2 (38:06):
What are you doing?
Speaker 1 (38:08):
And he goes, Babe, you're talking to the World Heavyweight Champion. Yeah,
she's like she was not having it. And he was
like sitting in a lawn chair out in the middle
of an empty parking lot with the title around his waist.
It was so stupid. Now, but WCW had nothing to
do with attitude.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Earra.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
That was that was like the timeframe, That's what I meant.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
There was a lot of really really good matches. Yes,
the Rock his matches.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Like, oh the Rock was one of my favorites.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
That's what I'm saying, Like, if I could go back
and watch it again, I'm pretty sure he would be
one of my favorites.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Yeah, he's he was. He was the best on the microphone,
he was the best.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
And I mentioned that the other night when we were
watching that the some episodes, Yeah, some matches, and I said,
he does not stutter, he doesn't stop, he doesn't have
to think about what he's gonna say.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
He just put a microphone in front of his face
and he is He's going to kill you with his
own words. It was great.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
It was you could tell that it was not rode out.
It wasn't thought about. It was give him a mic
and I'm going, yeah, here we go.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah. And then once he started, that's kind of what
John Cena became. What did Sida kabduh two at the
very like at the tail end. Yeah, but he was
fresh out of out of forty four hundred Shelbyville Road,
Shepherdsville Shepherdsville Road, right right up, not far from here,
right across the street from my work. Yep, that's so cool.
(39:44):
I work across the street from where John Cena and
Randy Orton used to work and brock Lesner No, the
Rock had some some banger matches. One of my favorites
of his is when he was he was part of
the corporation and he was heel and he had his
I Quit match at Royal Rumble against Mankind.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
I'm trying to remember, have we watched that one?
Speaker 1 (40:09):
I feel like I showed it to you a long
time ago. Okay, when you first started entering this role.
Is like, you got to see this fucking match. I've
shown you all those before, No fuck that, watch this one.
But what's but And if you go back and watch
at the end of it, when Mankind says I quit,
that is not his voice saying I quit. I quit no,
(40:30):
And I was so fucking met, like make Mankind's not
gonna say I quit. No.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
Vin's probably told him his contract was on the line,
you have to quit.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
There is a documentary that came out, I think in
two thousand and one. It's called Beyond the Mat, and
they show like what happened like after the match, and
Mick Foley's kids are like crying and you see the
Rock come up and talk to him, and Mick goes, no,
(41:01):
that he's just he's daddy's friend. It's okay, and the
Rocks trying to like, look, yeah, the Rock is being
such a like he's being such an uncle to mix kids,
like like a like he's because they were so upset
and like mixed. Uh. His kids are just bawling and
mixed covered and Bloy's like, no, he's daddy's friend. It's
(41:21):
it's okay. This is just this is dad's work. It's
it's okay. Daddy's not really hurt. It's so it's okay hurt.
And the Rock is like nilt down beside him and
they're like yeah, and he's like he's trying to like
calm him down, and it was so cute. No, Beyond them.
I forgot. I just remember that documentary too. It was
(41:42):
really I rented a Blockbuster when it had first come out.
It too. I'll try to find it. It's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
I had another question and I completely lost my train
of thought.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
That's okay, Well, while you're trying to think of it,
let me check my notes here and and uh so.
Oh there were other awesome divas, that's what they were
called back kind of day. There was, of course the
number one Sable She's that's brock Lesner's wife. But yeah,
(42:18):
she was. She was known for her She was great
in the ring, but she was mainly known for like
her boobs. Uh huh was that the one that she
had handprints over her? Yeah? Uh, let's see we also
had so uh she doesn't look attractive now, uh, but
(42:40):
Sonny was at the time the most downloaded woman, like
of all time. At that time, she was like the
original diva. There was also we talked about China. There
was Ivory, Jacqueline, Terry Runnolds, Tory Wilson, Stacey Keebler, Molly Holly.
(43:02):
The top stars of that era, of course, Number one
is Stone Cold. There's the Rock Triple h Kine Mick Foley,
The Undertaker, Kurd Angle, Big Show, and Chris Jericho. I
remember I remember Chris Jericho's debut. It was right right
at the beginning of the year two thousand. He had
(43:23):
just left WCW. He was like the first guy to
defect and come over from one to another. The Rock
was in the ring cutting a promo, but they built
his like his debut up.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
It was.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
It was like a y two k countdown and every time,
like going through December of ninety nine, if somebody was
in the ring doing something, or if there was a
match on the Titan Tron on the big screen, you
would see like just countdown two and then it would
just be a countdown of how many like days, weeks, months,
(44:01):
minutes or minutes, yeah, hours, And then the Rock was
in the ring just cutting a promo on somebody else,
and it popped up and it said countdown and then
ten nine and then lights went out and boom, fireworks
Pyro's going off and you see christ Jericho standing with
(44:22):
his back turned and his arms out and his ponytail
on top of his head.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
How big was that pop?
Speaker 1 (44:27):
The pop was? Why because a lot of people are
like I wonder if it's him, because he hasn't been
on WCWTV in a little bit, and sure enough, there
he is standing there. Immediate he's he's a heel, and
that kicks off a little bit of a rivalry between
him and the Rock.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
It kind of gets him in.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
Yeah. Yeah, because he was already like a mad guy
in the industry, so he didn't have to like go
through the trenches and right like, you're already like everybody
knows you. You're going to bring in money for us,
so we're just gonna put you in there. And yeah,
it was great. Raw is Jericho.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
So what is what would your favorite match be of that?
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (45:20):
God, I have a few, Okay, I and it's a
hot take, But I really liked a lot of the
the w w F versus w c W stuff.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
I had fun with it. I had a lot of
fun watched a Yeah, there was the Undertaker in Diamond
Dallas Page had a good little rivalry. They uh they
brought d DPN by making him uh he was a
stalker for the Undertaker's wife. Oh yeah. So they would
do like promos and you see like the Undertaker's house
(45:56):
and you would see like in the window you would
see his well now his ex wife Samarah, like doing
something in the house, like like cooking or watching TV,
and you see him like in it, but it's like
a creeper mask, like or a ski mask with like
holes cut out, just standing outside watching And then he
appeared in the middle of the ring and took his
(46:17):
mask off and it's oh my god, it's Diamond Dallas
Page and we were all like, oh, ship, he's here. Okay, yeah,
because d DP was a top guy in WCW and
uh that was cool. Uh. Anything with mcfoley got to start, didn'ty. Uh.
When Goldberg showed up against the Rocks Rock was heel
(46:41):
at the time, and he was singing a song in
the ring. He had like a microphone and his acoustic guitar.
He was singing just like he was singing along with
the Rock And then and then Goldberg's theme hits and
everyone's like, what the fuck what he's there? But that
(47:01):
was that wasn't like that at the very tail end
of attitude. Yeah, Uh, of course. Let's see we did
Helen the Cell with Mick and with Mankind and Undertaker
a lot of The one thing I want to discuss
is the stone Cold Vince McMahon rivalry.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
See, I haven't seen a whole lot about that, but
I heard it is amazing.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
It's like the blue collar worker beating the ship out
of the boss.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
What we all.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
That's kind of yeah, it was a super relatable thing.
So like you're having a ship night at a ship
day at work. Yeah, just your boss is a dick.
You can't do anything because you're gonna get fired if
you do, hot dog, you can you can like put
your immerse yourself into like your Stone Cold in the
scenario and your boss is Vince McMahon and you're gonna
(47:50):
fuck him up. Yeah, oh my god. Those two probably
the most iconic rivalry of all time. And then when
Stone Cold shook his hand and screwed the rock at
WrestleMania seventeen. Fuck, oh that hurts so much. But Austin
was my right. I was rider dial with them, so
I'm like, fuck, all right, I hate all I hate Vince,
(48:12):
but I do like.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
He do to him what Sena did to Cody. Is
that what happened?
Speaker 1 (48:18):
Kind of Okay? I think that, oh that at Elimination
Chamber earlier this year. Yeah, I think that was kind
of like a tip of the hat thing like a
little yeah, hey, here's like a little easter egg. Yeah,
because John Cena is the top guy, Vince is the boss,
and Cody in that scenario is the rock. Right. But yeah,
(48:40):
that was Yeah WrestleMania seventeen. Oh my god, the promo
for that, the video package for Austin and the Rock
at that WrestleMania with Limp biscuits my way.
Speaker 2 (48:53):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Oh it's one of the best. It might be the best,
the best of us. Watching I'm like, fuck, I'm so
hyped for this match when it already happens. Shit. Ugh.
But watching it is like, Okay, I kind of want
to watch this match now. Oh this that fucking video.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Goes well, guess what, let's watch it later.
Speaker 1 (49:11):
I will show it to you. Yeah, oh so good.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
I feel like the Attitude era brought I know that
the videos that we had watched earlier about it and
the documentary, the short documentary about it, yea was it
was it started to like wrestling used to be something
(49:37):
for like college age kids and men and people to
where it was older people. Yeah. And when Attitude Era hit,
that was like when a lot of the nine, ten, eleven, twelve,
thirteen year olds were really getting into it and they're
like this is cool.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
Yeah, And you got little kids run around doing suck
it at school and getting in trouble. Those those guiltiest
charged hell me and me and uh my, my church buddies.
We would go at church. We're doing suck it at church.
It was great.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
I do believe Jason has done it before, but at
the time when he was younger, he didn't know what
it was.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
I did it three times today at work.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
Nice. I Gunner did it, but he knows. Maybe.
Speaker 1 (50:28):
Remember one of my co workers, he was trying to
hand me something from a platform that he was standing on,
and as I'm reaching for it, I went nope, and
I backed up and I just went suck it. He's like,
will you just take the goddamn I need.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Trial, Michael.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
Oh, I do suck it all the time at work.
I still throw it out or a stone cold middle finger.
Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:54):
Oh, I know Gunnard does whenever he whenever we let him. Yeah,
well him like.
Speaker 1 (51:01):
Oh, if Gunnar wants to hit a socket, fucking no.
Speaker 2 (51:05):
I meant the stone hold. Oh that yeah, when he
like Jay wins or you know, something happens, I.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
Was letting him cuss when we went to RAW, Like,
while we're here, you can say it, but once Raw
is over, that's it. You're not What can I say?
What can I say?
Speaker 2 (51:22):
Hell?
Speaker 1 (51:23):
Damn part I forget who Finn balor fucking sucks? And
he would during that AJ styles Finn, he goes you
fucking suck. Like there's other grown ups, maybe like tone
it down a little bit. No, it was fun.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
I I really do wish though, when I was younger,
I would have gotten into it, because I really feel
like the attitude era was like I would have been
into it.
Speaker 1 (51:54):
Like if you could go back in time, yeah, would
you be like, Okay, I'll give it a try.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
No, I want not just give it a try. I'd say,
let's go, babe.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
I'll watch it and I'll let me see what this
is about.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Like you tell your younger self.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Watch it, watch it, trust me, trust me?
Speaker 1 (52:11):
You can watch you can what Look, there's one show
on TNT you can be WCW yep, or you can
go to TNN and watch Monday Night Raw yep. Which
one do you want.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
To Honestly, if we would have had actual cable, we
probably I probably would have watched it. Yeah, but because
we just had channels.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
When SmackDown debuted in ninety nine, it was on UPN
so you could have watched that. Yeah, you could have
at least gotten SmackDown on Thursdays at.
Speaker 2 (52:38):
Eight bedtime and that time was like nine.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
So yeah, well, I'm I'm glad I was. I was
lucky enough to be like on Thoseday, on Mondays and Thursdays.
Mom was like, all right, well you can stay and
finished watching wrestling. But when it goes off, you and
your dad though, no, Dad didn't. Dad would He got
me into it, but he would take me to more
(53:03):
of like Memphis Mid South Wrestling, which is in Memphis,
Like we would go to those shows, or he did
take me to. Uh. I went to a couple of
WCW shows when they would come through that the Mid
South Coliseum. But Nick's dad took me to my first
WWF show, Nice Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, which is where
(53:25):
the Big Show debuted. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (53:28):
Now, isn't the Big Show one of the ones who's
broken the ring quite a bit?
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Yes? I love watching those videos Suplex off the turnbucle.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
And then boom the ring.
Speaker 1 (53:39):
They were accidental because it happened in the middle of
the show. It wasn't main eventing, no, so they'd have
to oh fuck, all right, we got to cut to commercial,
and it would be long ass commercial breaks. Well, I
mean we went to the Bullpen, yeah.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
Wrestling show, and we watched.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
When that happened.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
Yeah, we watched them put the state together and how
long that took.
Speaker 1 (54:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:03):
Then when the ropes were loose and they were trying
to tighten them up, that was almost a half an hour.
Speaker 1 (54:09):
Yeah, now you got four posts gone, Like wow, you
see the referees like, oh god da and you see him.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
I do like the way that the refs played it off. Yeah, like, yes,
they could have just fallen over, but I like the
way they threw themselves to over act.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
When it was the Big Show in Bronze Stroman or
was it Big Show and Strowman or was it Brock
and Stroman, bron Stroman was involved in one of the
second one. That's when it was an accident it was
or it was intentional Brock. I think it was Brox,
but the first time when Big Show did it, it
was Yes, But you're also talking.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
About a seven foot tall, six hundred pounds man.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Yeah, I mean his name is that for a reason, right,
you know what I mean? But now, uh, Another one
of my favorite superstars that I liked was fucking Cane.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
I don't want to have this episode and not talk
about the Big Red Machine. Oh my god, when Caine
was dope, when Undertaker it's your brother, kay, Paul Bear rip,
it's your brother, Kane. And seeing when Cain walked out
an Undertaker's face like, oh my god, I thought I
(55:22):
killed him because the story was in there when they
were kids. Undertaker burned down a funeral parlor and locked
Caine inside of it, and that was it. Never heard
from again. Now here he is coming out and Undertaker's like,
holy shit, I thought you were dead. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (55:45):
Oh, Mom's gonna be so mad.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
A very perceptive of pure pressure. Oh but no, see
that's I think that's the old time that I ever
saw like a oh fuck look on the Undertaker's face.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
He played that off so well.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
It was great. Yeah, and uh, I like uh. On
Undertaker's podcasts, uh, Glenn Jacobs, sorry mayor Glenn Jacobs of Knoxville, Tennessee,
was they were on there and they were talking about
that and he goes. You know, it's weird that people
Undertaker goes. It's weird, Like people still come up and
(56:28):
ask me like were you and were you and Kane
brothers and k and Kin goes. Yeah, they asked me
that ship too, And sometimes I'm just like oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
we're totally brothers. Well what's he doing right now? He's
being the mayor? Now is what's your brother doing? Oh
he's the mayor. Man, He's he's crushing it as the mayor.
(56:49):
It's like, we're not brothers now.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Isn't the attitude era when your favorite showed up? That
wasn't soon called your other favorite Sting? Yeah, that was
way before that.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
It was way after after Sting showed up in like
twenty thirteen. Really yeah, I thought he was in like
twelve years ago. Really yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
Didn't know it was that that close.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Oh yeah, it was towards the end of his career.
Seth Rollins was around when Sting if that yeah, whoa
yeah yeah, no, Sting was Sting, Yeah he had a
yeah he was. He was feuding with Seth and Triple
H the Authority as they were called. It is cool
(57:33):
because there is where you see uh, Randy Orton and
Sting in the ring like helping each other out. Yeah,
Randy was about to get jumped by like ten guys
and lights go out, lights come on, and Sting is
standing there with a bat and they're like, oh, oh
this is dope.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
Yeah, that's right, that's right because Sting in Triple H
in the WrestleMania.
Speaker 1 (57:56):
WrestleMania thirty thirty something or No. Thirty one.
Speaker 2 (58:00):
Yeah, Oh, who's the wrestler that we wrestler or wrestlers
that we lost during Attitude.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
That Oh oh god, I'm gonna yes, Oh my god,
Owen Hart.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
That was on live Yes are we That was.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
Oh for for you? Yeah, r I p Owen Hart
a god mm hmm. I will deaf drink one to
Owen Heart. He was one of the best. Yeah. The
main event was Oh my god, it was Undertaker. He
(58:45):
was in the main event, yes, because I do.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
Remember Undertaker saying something about it. He was like, I'm
in the I'm behind the scenes and I watched this
happen and then I had to come out and and
work after one of my best friends literally fell to
his death.
Speaker 1 (59:03):
Yeah, it were oh my god. At Over the Edge
nineteen ninety nine May. And then you see uh at
the man under Oh god, it hurts. You see Undertaker
after he's like just walked into the ring for the match.
Vince should have shut it down, but he no, and
(59:26):
people are pissed about it. And you see Undertaker he
steps into the ring and he's taking his like entrance
gear off. He's staring at the blood stain, Owen Heart's
blood stain, and you could see him like fighting tears. Yeah, yeah,
it got.
Speaker 2 (59:43):
It was so said, it was so hard.
Speaker 1 (59:47):
Oh he felt one hundred feet. Yeah, hit his hit
his neck on the on the ropes. He was he
was the Blue Bomber, and his entrance was to come down.
That's why I stink quit doing it. They made stinks
stop doing it because they didn't want to They didn't
want to risk that again.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
So it was his harness that malfunctioned. M yep.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
And he yep God and hearing uh, Jim Ross say,
I have the unfortunate news to tell you that we
have just lost Owen Hart. And you see Jerry Lawler
just bawling Jesus because they were all like family. Well yeah,
(01:00:34):
and and Undertaker was really close with like Brett the
all the heart guys, Owen Brett, that whole, that whole crew,
like my one of my dear friends. Just yeah, it sucked.
It was It was hard to see that, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
For some reason, my mind went immediately back to the
first year Seventh Street Haunt, our opening night when I
got the phone call about Buckner. Yeah, you know, I
wanted to not continue and just take a minute, but
I knew I couldn't because it had to open, It
had to be done. And I we finished out the
(01:01:18):
show that night and cried. They went back the next
night and finished the show.
Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
We had a we had a we had a hell.
That was our debut of Seventh Street. Yeah, yeah, and
we we rocked it for him, for Buckner.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
We did that whole season for Buckner.
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
Yeah, we did well.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
Yeah, those of us that knew him. But that I
mean that that had to have been heavy. That was
what what'd you say?
Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
Ninety ninety nine, ninety eight, nineteen.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Ninety eight, May twenty third, ninety eight.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
Thing, No, it was ninety nine, yeah, May twenty twenty third, ye,
May twenty third, nineteen ninety nine. Yeah, and seeing there's
actually a photo did they sue of right after it happened.
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
In the ring. Yeah, that's fell in the ring.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
Yeah, he landed like right, like ugh, I hope it
was immediate. And you see there's Jerry Lawler like trying
to stand up and see over to catch him.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
I hope it was immediate. It wasn't anything.
Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
It wasn't immediate. It wasn't Jesus. Yeah it was Oh god,
who was the match?
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
It was.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Undertaker? Oh my god. I have to look at the
match over the Edge nineteen ninety nine main event.
Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
Because didn't they have to fill his place somebody else
real quick?
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
It was the Undertaker and stone Hold World title match.
That's right, yep.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
It's supposed to be fighting him or fighting Who was
the match him?
Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Owen Hart, I think it was the Godfather. It was
the European title. It was either European title or Intercontinental
title match. I missed the European title. I'm gonna turn this.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Around, Okay, I have no idea what that is.
Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
No, it's uh picture of the United States title. Now, yeah,
it's that, but the US title is actually pulled over
from w c W gotcha because they had the US
title the European title. It was a cool belt too,
it had all the different flags of Europe on it.
It was it was a cool belt.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
So it's one that Chelsea Green could have, Yeah, instead
of the American title.
Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
Yeah, well they should make a Canadian one for her
because she's Canadian.
Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
Yeah. Anyway, Yeah, I mean there's so much more that
we could talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
There's a lot to go on.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
And I need to see more and maybe we can
bring this back in a couple of months. Yeah, absolutely,
once I can watch more and be more versed.
Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
Yeah, for sure. I want to hear your takes on it. Yeah,
I'll I'll ask you all of the questions you asked me.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Yeah, all of them is going to be Leada Leda
and Trish Yeah, my favorites.
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
Yeah. But it was, it was. It was a great
It was hot dog what a time to be alive.
Literally like hardcore. It was.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
It was like if you took the wrestlers right now,
all of those like high rostered like number ones and
shifted them to the Attitude era. Yeah, I personally and
honestly do not think that they would make it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
Oh, you take the guys, you take the.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Roster now, John Cena, Jay Usso, Cody Rhoades, Roman reigns,
seth Rollins, you name it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:06):
You shift them back to the Attitude era when those
when all those guys are in their prime, when Rock
Austin trip right.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
You put them again. You put Cody Road against Austin.
That roster would beat the fuck. I would bet my
entire I would bet the house. I would bet my everything,
yea everything on Attitude era people.
Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
They had a former UFC World champion Ken Shamrock in
the Attitude Era.
Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
I'm not I'm not just talking about like skills. I'm
talking about murderers. Every fucking match. You're gonna have colors. No,
I'm not. No, I need powder for my news.
Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
No, it's happening. I'm giving it to you. Yeah, and
then here comes mcfoley is like, okay, we quit, We're sorry,
We're sorry, We're sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
No, it's like, okay, so tonight you're gonna match with
mc foll Nope, I'm out. You're gonna match with Mick
fut Nope.
Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
I would. I would be mortified if I had to
m hm so on on the match card. Tonight you're
gonna fight Mike and he's gonna do cactus checks. I'm
going home, you know, I'm done.
Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
I quit.
Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
I'm done. No, I'd rather ros I'm out. I'm out
on this one. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Yeah, but all of the again, all of the wrestlers
today in in w W, if you all of them,
if you go online right now and take everybody from
that roster, is there anybody on that roster right now
that you think could make it?
Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
There's a couple. I think Cody would be okay, well, yeah,
he's he gets Randy Orton, who actually came in at
the very end of it. Yeah, Randy, So Randy. I
would give Randy some Who else do I think could
handle it? Uh? Sam Punk would be good enough.
Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
Oh, Sun seem punk handstack.
Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
I think Sampunk would kind of lead the charge.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
Oh, he'd be headman in Attitude Era.
Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
Actually that's where Raymond Stereo made his debut at the
end of it in a cage match. Very nice. Those
big ass red pants. They look like Jinko's.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
I think I I think Tiffany would do well.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
Yeah, I think Rio would do Eo Ski and Ria.
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
Would do Nope, I don't think so, I do I don't.
I think Tiffany, Tiffany and Bianca would be my two
for Attitude Era. I think because I don't I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
Think you know, Sky would be okay, she could handle it. Yeah,
Oh well yeah, I think I really do think Ria
Ripley could handle it too.
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
If she would get rid of her whiny bitchiness.
Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
Well I'm talking about like just like actually know as
a in the ring as like everything.
Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
No, you want my two females Tiffany, Yeah, and Live
Morgan live.
Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
Would be okay.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
I think I think she could hold her.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Own live to do an Attitude era Live Morgan and
Trish yeah versus that would be awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
Yeah. I think Alexa Bliss could hold her own in
there too.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
Yeah, she could.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
I think she can handle it. That's probably about it, really. Yeah,
there's not a whole lot, no not and oh John
c John Cena came in at the end of it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
I honestly think Seampunk and Cody Rhodes would probably be
the only two. I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
John Cena's first ever match was against Kurt Angles and
he held it. He lost, but he held it up.
There was there was a couple of times during that
match where I thought, damn, this dude might actually fucking win.
Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
Yeah, he might actually what Drew McIntyre Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
I could see McIntyre.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Drew mcint priest could fuck that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Kevin Owens, Oh, Sammy Zain would be good.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
Kevin Owens and Sammy Zayin, they'd be unstoppable.
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Kevin and Sammy would be unstoppable.
Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
If you see Sammy and Kevin tag team the.
Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
Dudley that would be fun.
Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
That would be a fun one.
Speaker 1 (01:09:28):
I would I would watch that, Yeah, I would. I
would watch that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
Oh god, yes, oh oh. And then the Street Profits
and the Hardys. Yeah, that would be a fun one.
Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
Possibly, I think so. No, I think the Street Profits
and the Dudley's would be would be a little bit
more fun. It would be a little more fun.
Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
Sammy and Kevin against uh, the Hardy Boys.
Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
The Dudley Boys returned and beat the dog shit out
a New Day, did they? Yeah? No, beat the fuck
out a new Day of New Day.
Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
But I kind of want to see that one.
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
I'll show it to you later on, Okay. But yeah,
that's that's that's all and pieces of the Attitude era I.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Mean of it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Yeah, I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
That's like the era. It it it like in the
eighties and mid nineties. It started, It started the way
but the attitude era helped it blow up.
Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
Oh there's one more thing I wanted to talk about,
and it has to be said on this It was
when Mike Tyson Russell Mania thirteen Stone Cold won his
first role title, and he thought, we haven't even talked
about Sean Michaels.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
I don't know a whole lot about h I don't
know is that sexy boy?
Speaker 1 (01:10:48):
Yeah, yeah, he's running. He's running nxt bum bum bum bum.
Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
I hate that song.
Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
But Sean Michaels was a was a there was I
remember to watch more of his stuff. There's one clip
where he was like in a it was like a
house show, and a fan was talking shit to him,
like about how tall he is. He goes, and Sean goes, yeah,
maybe so, but when I'm standing on my fucking wallet,
I'm ten feet tall, bitch to a fan. Yeah, I
(01:11:20):
was in the middle of like a tag team match.
He was, Yeah, but when I'm standing on my wallet,
I'm ten feet tall, bitch. No, ma'am. I think somebody
is ready.
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
I think somebody is ready to.

it's Alexa Ria and what tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:12:06):

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):

Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
Ria, Ria or god damn it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
