about Attitude Era. Yeah, I've learned a little bit.

that you were doing.

Oh that was the road Dog Jesse James and the
Badass Billy Gun New Age Outlaws, also members of Degeneration X,
one of the greatest factions of all time. Oh yeah, yeah,
no that much. Oh yeah, all right. Yeah, So we're
talking about Attitude Era, Yes we are. We are discussing
from nineteen ninety seven to two thousand and two.

I'll discuss as much as I know, which isn't much.

I know because that's when it was really big for you.

So what was.

I have so many questions for you. So what was
your first was Attitude era? Like your first memory of it?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I start, well, I started watching pro wrestling. I started
with WCW. The Attitude Era was kind of just kicking
off right when when Stunning Steve Austin became stone cold
Steve Austin. I saw that King of the Ring after
he won King of the Ring in ninety six and

beat Jake the Snake Roberts. I saw him do the
uh you sit there and you thump your bible, thump
through your bible, then you read your psalms and talk
about your John three sixteen. Well, Austin three sixteen says,
I just whooked your ass. I'm like this guy, this
guy's cool. Oh my god, I'm gonna watch this one.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
His story of how his catchphrase and his name and
everything came about.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Well, when he was in WCW back in the early nineties,
he had long blonde hair and the reason he shaved
his head bald is because he goes, well, I'm losing
my hair anyway, might as well just cut it all off, right,
because his hairline really started like at the at the
top of his scalp. But yeah, so what.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Uh okay, So who was the biggest superstar of the
Attitude Era.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
It was definitely Stone Cold?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Was it stone Cold?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yeah? Yeah, stone It was definitely him.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Okay. There was a lot of rustlers who got their
start like towards the end of the Attitude era.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Yeah yeah, well uh well actually, uh, right in the
middle of it is when Our Truth made his debut.
Really yeah, he started in nineteen ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Oh that's awesome. Yeah, an Attitude era was ninety seven
Depth two.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
So yeah our Truth actually uh hashtag we want Truth?
Yeah he uh, he got his start right smack in
the middle of it all. Yeah, Ronzina. Yeah, and he
was he wasn't the guy like that that we know now, right.
He was a little goofy but quick he was. Yeah,

but he was like he was also like a serious
oh yeah yeah guy.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Right then he kind of changed his.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Bit towards once the Attitude Era was over. He kind
of turned into the the funny the funny guy.

Of course, isn't this when like, like you said, degeneration X.

Yeah, they started, Yeah d X was was popping off.
That's this one. Suck it was when they.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Were I remember teach you remember when they were teaching young.

To do suck it to grown ups? Ye Oh, I was.
I was in that mix.

My best friend at the time, Damien, he actually got.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Oh was he a wrestling fan back in the day? Oh?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
All the well, there were no girls in the neighborhood.
It was just guys.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Most of the most of the kids in your friend
group back in the day.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Literally there were two females. One of them was a
very large, manly female and she just played basketball, and
then uh, the other one was two actually three, there
were three girls. Two of the other girls were just
super prissy and were like into ballerinas and princesses and

shit right, and the rest literally like ten or twelve
were boys. So all of the boys were doing like
wrestling stuff and talking about wrestling, yeah, which we didn't
really have TV back in the day to watch the
wrestling stuff and whatever. But that's when I remember one
of my friends, Damien, he got suspended for a week

from school for telling his teacher to suck it, and
then he looked at his principal when his principal came
to talk to him and told him to suck it.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I'm surprised a lot of your friends that you grew
up with watched it and you and Jas didn't watch it.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Think about who our parents were. Yeah, sexual in the windows.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
And now we had your mom over for Night one
of WrestleMania, and she was like, oh this is fun.
I love this.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
This is so great.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Oh yeah, it was a Sunday. Oh yeah, She's like,
oh this is great, this is a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
I'm pretty sure Gunner made her watch a couple episodes
while he's been over.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
There, Oh for sure. And do you believe she likes.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Norman Rainsins, not Tom and Nick Mysterio that's her son, yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Oh the uh and probably Cody Roads. Well, no, Cody
Roads isn't her type.

Don't you kidding me? A tall, blonde young man dressed
to the nines the way he is.

I don't know if she's ever seen him in a
suit though, that's fair. She seen him in his wrestling gear.

Show him off to my mother. I just want to

So, like I said, the D Generation, the d X,
the suckets, you know, can you you can smell with
the rocks cooking?

There were there were other factions during that time. We
had no that's a tack team. Uh, but they came
in kind of towards the end of it or in
the middle.

Isn't that where tag teams were getting like really really popular.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Not really they were. They were still hopping, like even
in like the the eighties and early nineties and stuff,
they were hopping. One of the most iconic Shawn Michaels,
was a part of the rockers, him and Marty Jannetty.
Their their theme song is like it's pretty cool, but
it's like like late eighties, early nineties like rock and roll. Yeah,
and there they actually they in two thousand and two

they had a little reunion.

That's cool.

It was Dopel But no, there was the Nation of
Domination that was the rock Ferouke, Dilo Brown and Mark Henry.
They were all a part of that Mark Henry.

Sexual Chocolate Mark Henry.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah, that's where Buckner got that nickname.

From sexual Chocolate makes Mark Henry. Yeah. Uh. There was
the Corporation, which was like Vince Shane big boss man.
There was a lot of of like corporate types and
that all the suit and tie guys gotcha. Uh. And
then there was the Ministry, which was led by the Undertaker,
and then you had the Brood, which was like it

was Gangrel led that and he had edgend Christian with
him and their their characters are like vampires. They would
come up out as big back in.

The late nineties early two thousands. Vampires.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Yeah. Their theme is fucking sick though.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
I'll have to listen to that one too.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
I actually on one of our very early episodes, uh
I did ah. I think it was like a ghost
Stories episode. Oh yeah, like ghost stories from Reddit and
uh there are Our theme for that episode was the
was the Brood theme song, Oh God, You're.

Gonna get us pulled. It's gonna get no, it's still
up surprising. Yeah, I guess nobody cares about our previous episodes.

Yeah, it was. It was one of those like your
last year at the Haunt, and I had to do
the show by myself, and.

because I know Tammy sent in one.

Yeah. It was pretty sick. But yeah, if you go
back and listen to that episode, it's it's probably like
the ninth or tenth episode of our show.

So were there any more factions?

Not really, those were like the main ones. Yeah, but
d X was.

Like yeah, top yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah, Triple eight. It was led by Triple eight, Shawn Michaels,
who else China, Tory, road Dog, Billy Gunn and XPOC.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Now I do have to say, watching the what I
have of the Attitude era, huh, they were not afraid
of anything. Oh god, No, nobody whoever got into that
ring was not afraid of anything. Oh for sure, Like
there was more like why aren't they dead moments.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Well that's because Mick Foley was in the locker room,
and that's what happens when you when you get the
ring with Mick Foley.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Not only well yeah that's true, but it seems like
every time Triple H got into the ring too. He
also was bloody every time. Yeah, regardless.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Well, what's what's funny is is every time Triple H
got in the ring with Mick.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
There was blood everywhere.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
He would go from mankind and he would make him
fight Cactus Jack. And funny enough, there was I forget,
I forget the Royal Rumble it was, but Mick Foley
was in the Royal Rumble three times. Yeah, how is
that possible? Well, man and mankind and dude Love. Yeah, yep,
that's yeah, it's the three faces of folly.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Every time he got thrown out, he'd come back.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yeah, he would. He could be like the first one
in and then he would get eliminated, and then a
little while he's now he's dude Love. He gets eliminated.
Now he comes back, now he's Cactus Jack.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
So which one of the three are would you be
most scared of?

Speaker 1 (11:53):
For sure, cactus Jack. I mean I'm sure Cactus Jack.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
You I've only seen one or two of his matches
his Cactus Jack. Most of them has.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Been well I've shown you. Uh it wasn't an Attitude
era match. But he fought Randy Orton. Remember when Randy
Orton had the thumb tat he flipped him. He monkey
flipped him and Randy had thumbtacks all his back. Was
the dazzling supposed to.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Be it was supposed to be fully who who flipped? Yeah,
like Orton set it up, but flip fully but fully
flipped around and hit him Cactus.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Yeah. And then there was the Hell in a Cell
I think at No Way out, Oh, something like that,
Triple H. And then there was Royal Rubble in two
thousand where it was a street fight with Triple H
and Cactus. Yes, okay, but those are those are my top.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Now. Like I said, there's like you literally no one
had fear. They knew what they were getting into. Oh,
I were like, let's go, let's go. Every wrestler that well,
every match that I've watched, oh yeah, Dudley boys always
Bubain devon shout out, always like not just pain on

other people, but pain on themselves. Yeah, hardy boys, Holy.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Crap, oh god. Yeah. Actually, speaking of the Hardy Boys,
I told you this earlier, but for those of you
not in the know as of the recording of this,
thirty one years ago today, a sixteen year old Jeff
Hardy made his WWE debut against Raiser Ramone and lost
on the episode of Monday Night Raw.

Yeah, lion shit, yep, we got Jeff Heart. Today is
Jeff Hardy's pro wrestling anniversary.

was there, that triple tag team Triple Threat SummerSlam TLC. Yes, yeah,
that was awesome. Yeah.

They don't have TLC matches like that anymore.

They did the Friday Night before SmackDown. Remember Street Profit
on SmackDown before before WrestleMania.

Yes, yeah, that was awesome. Yeah, I wish they would
do more matches like.

It was a TLC.

Yeah, I mean it wasn't as like bloody and painful
and but.

They still it was a fucking slaber knocker match put
on a hell of a show. Oh yeah, I mean, hell,
the street profits are still sore from it. Yeah from
I mean, but yeah, that was awesome.

I need to watch more Christian stuff because I haven't
seen a whole lot of the Christian stuff.

He wasn't awesome that. I don't think they used him
right once him in Edge like split part ways. Well
once they split ways, well he.

He was a tag team guy, gotcha, that's what That's

screwed him over. I think that's why he left and
went to a w uh ed. The reason Edge went
was because he's like, I've done everything there is to
do here, everything I got nothing left here, so I
want to go do stuff I haven't done. And he

I've watched so far.

Jason Well we because I remember we were both like, no,
we won't have this. You slandering pro wrestling.

Watch this and you're like, oh fuck, this is cool.

was just like meh, I mean, it's cool, but there's blood,

watched it again here recently and it was like holy shit,
and I realize.

Yeah, now as a wrestling fan seeing it, you're like fuck, yes, yep,
you have the same reaction that all of us who
were like watching it live as it's going down, like,
oh my god, this is yes, this match fucking is iconic.

Honestly, mcfuley is God when it comes to wrestling, Like
he is top tier. He is god status.

have Odin. I have mckfoley. Nick, my god can beat
all of your gods.

Up absolutely, and he's not scared.

was gonna say, and then flip him onto thumbtacks well

I honestly, McK foley is probably like everything I've watched
so far, he's he's my favorite.

And did you know that he spends his time as
a Santa Claus. That is, he is a six time
New York Times best selling author, children's books and a
biography called Have An I Stay.

If I ever run into him as Santa Claus, I'm
gonna cry, but yeah, he I will believe in Santa

Mainly does it for like first children who are sick.

be Santa for them. Mick Foley is the coolest, coolest guy.

I know, I've watched two of his matches.

Multi time w w F Hardcore Champion, Sorry, w w
E Hardcore Champion Champion.

What is that exactly?

Speaker 1 (18:53):
It's the the hardcore title. It's the uh picture a title,
but it was made specifically for ship that Nick Foley does.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Oh so kind of like Haunted House Awards. No well, no, no, no, no,
no like that kind of title. It's for you know
how they have the top title to where it's like, well,
did you break yourself well doing this? Did you hurt yourself?
Did you go to the extreme? Did you are you dedicated?

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Like hardcore matches where like stuff like false count anywhere,
matches no disqualification. Yeah, matches where you fight, you're fighting
in the lock, having your match like takes it you
take it back to the locker room out into the
parking there's sometimes yet matches would go out into the
parking lot of the arena like outside, but it was

(19:45):
it was the Winged Eagle, the old WWE world title,
but like broken into pieces and held together by duct
tape and across the front edge just set hardcore written and.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Hold together with barbed wires and duct tape. That would
have been cool too.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yeah, I'll here, I'll show you a photo of it.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
It's so while you're pulling that up. There's one match
that came to mind when you said fighting in the
parking lot, and it was the It wasn't really a
tag team, but it seemed like it, but it was,
uh sick. I like that a six person I wouldn't
say triple the six person match with Stone Cold, Triple

H Rock the Yeah, when they took it outside of
the cell and.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Yes, the Kishieddon.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Yes, that was probably one of the coolest.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
It's one of my favorite matches.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
And it's so funny how it's like Triple H and
Stone Cold was just focused on beating the ship out
of each other. Yeah, and then like.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Yeah, it was up on top of the cell Thattaker
and then k angle.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
D angle in the Rock going at it, but then
like Kurt Angle would like the Rock would knock him out.
Then he'd be like, all right, he's out, Who am
I fighting? Then he'd run over to Triple H and
like beat his face in and then Stone Cold would
get up and like punch the rock and the Rock
would fly, and then the Rock and Triple H would
start fighting, and it was just like a back and

forth that. Yeah, that was a good match too, for
I was very well executed. Yeah, but Mick Fuley helen
a cell with Undertaker and the tooth and the nose was.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Just it's like, it's one of the most iconic matches
of all time and it.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Was fully and Triple H helen the cell when he
fell through and hit the ring and broke the ring,
that one was awesome.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah, Fley has fallen from the cell three times and
it was oops, you see face.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Like that wasn't supposed to happen, but played off well.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yeah, And if you look the at the at the
roof of the cell, you can tell that it's a
little more reinforced to try to prevent that from happening
because the original design of the cell was just a
cross beam from this end to this end and then
here to hear it and you're not really supposed to
be on top of it. But yeah, Foley's like, you

know what, these people paid a lot of money for this.
I'm gonna give him a show.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Though I feel like it was an accident.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
Well they're actually The Undertaker talks about that. Matt one, Yeah,
and he was saying he was Fully was trying to
tell Taker, hey, throw me off, and Taker's like, no,
do you see how far down this is? No, I'm
not doing it.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
No, I was talking about Triple H and oh Triple
H oh okay where oh that yes, where he goes
to hit Triple H onto the flaming two by four
with the barbed wire, but Triple H flips it, and
then yeah, fully was goes him down and then when
he falls through the roof and hits the hit the ring,

hit the ring, and he broke it and he just
laid there. Triple Ah's face went from ah uh oh
face and then he just had to go back into
character like real quick, like I did that.

Oh oops. And Stephanie's Stephanie.

You could tell in her face She's like, oh no,
this is oh no, this.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Is yeah, everything is fine, Everything is good, everything is great.
Good job, babe. We're gonna be in so much trouble
for this.

Is he? It's like like that that meme of Homelander
on The Boys, where like he fucked up, but everyone's
cheering him and he's like, okay, yeah, I did good. Yes,

That's the third one where fully went through.

Well he fell through two times. It was Undertaker.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Undertaker hit him twice.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Undertaker threw him off onto the announcer table, and then
as he was being willed out on a gurney, he
got off and then climbed back up to where the
Undertaker was on top. And if you notice Undertaker standing
on the cell still but they're lifting it up away
from the ring, and he's like, I'm up here.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
I'm still up here, guys.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
You not fucking see me. I'm on this. You're making
it higher.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
I'm out.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Do you not see what just happened to this man?

Was that? Also is the Attitude era when Shane McMahon
jumped off.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
The he felt yes, oh yes, the Summer Slam he
Steve Blackman, when Steve Blackman hit him in the back
with a kindow stick and he yeah, and he fell
like thirty feet and landed flat on his back. Yes,
that was during that out of Shane. Okay, So Shane
McMahon was all about that life.
