damn it, my back hurts. I need to go take
my I'm so old, I'm gonna die pills.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Well, I have a couple of I.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Want to ask you, but you had an intro.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Can a movie be made into video games? Or more importantly,
can video games really be made into movies?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yes, yes it can.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
This may be one of the few that makes the cut,
although the mismanaged budget, an obnoxious animatronic nightmare Goro, maybe
even some whitewashing, and a wels and and well a
script that needed more combat. We got a bloodless Mortal

(06:39):
Kombat movie.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Well, there was a little bit of blood.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
This week, Ladies and gentlemen, We are talking about probably
one of the most iconic video game turned movies with
that spawned a sequel that was god awful, a mini
series on YouTube that's not really that great either, but
still one of the most iconic video games of all time.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
We got a great remake.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
We are of course talking about nineteen ninety fives. Hell,
I told you it was gonna be good.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Love that awesome?

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Did you like, like, honestly for real? Was that sick?

Speaker 2 (07:25):
I did? I loved it so great.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
I want to push the button one more time.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
I'm just going to continue dancing.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
And so so let's get into let's get into this.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
So the first so for those of you watching on YouTube,
I have four pages of the movie.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Well, before we get into that, I want to throw
out some details, important details of the movie. Okay, directed
by Paul Anderson. And do you know who Paul Anderson
is and what he directed?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
No idea?

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Have you ever seen any Resident Evil movie? Woo? He's
that guy. He's the reason that we have video games
turn movies. He's that guy. Well except for Street Fighter.
Except for Street Fighter, which will do they have a
movie a lot? Yeah? John clued van Dam was Colonel
gile Kylie Minogue is in it.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
I've never seen it. I've never seen it.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
We're watching that.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
It was Ralph Julia's final film. Gomez Adams, Oh.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Yeah, yeah, that's right, that's right. He was like on
the final stages of his cancer and he said, yeah,
I'm doing this.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
He was he was in stage four stomach cancer when
he was doing that.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah, I've never seen it, but I want to.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
I saw it in theaters. Directed by Paul Anderson, which
I said, written by Kevin Dorney, based on the World
Kombat video game by Ed Boone and John Tobias, Produced
by Lawrence Cassanoff, cast, Lyndon Ashby, Carrie Haeroke Tagawa, Robin cho,

(09:05):
Bridget Wilson, Talisa Soto sorry, and the Highlander himself. That
can be only one Christopher fucking Lambert yep.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Good cast, Yeah, I mean minus a couple.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Of U and you can think George Clinton, not that
George Clinton not Yeah. But for the music, that iconic theme, oh.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
God, everybody, everybody. Okay, So if you're a millennial or
a Gen Z or Gen X or early gen Z
because that kind of carried over. Yeah, if you don't
know the Mortal Kombat theme, then shame the fuck on you.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
I mean, it's it, does you.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah, fucking rips.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
So in that thing. Yeah, let's talk about the theme
before we really get into this movie.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
So, can I just say the first thing that I
wrote right here again four pages?

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Did you put discuss the theme song? Like I did.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
If the opening theme doesn't make you want to fight someone,
your lame as fuck.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Babe.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Huh. Right, Like, as we're watching the movie, I'm like,
should I punch him in the face right now?

Speaker 3 (10:19):
When was the first time you saw this movie? Do
you remember? Do you remember your first viewing of this.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I okay, I will say it was a Blockbuster rental
on a Friday night. Yeah, so ninety five. I was nine,
So I did not see it at that point, Okay,
I want to I want to say I was probably
twelve or thirteen, so a couple of years later, but
I do know that it was a Blockbuster rental pizza

(10:46):
Hut night, Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
It was.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
It was one of those hey, like it.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Was a top tier this is what we're doing, yes,
on a Friday night.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Well whenever, whenever my parents and us, like we went
to Blockbuster. We we got two movies. It was what
they wanted and what we wanted. So we watched what
we wanted and then we went to bed and they
got to watch what they were.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Then Mom and dad. That's how that's how we would do.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
It, right, So it would be like, hey, we could
watch Ninja Turtles, Mortal Kombat, whatever. But then they would
watch like Pride and Prejudice or Secret Gardener or you know,
like their y Jesus stuff.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Well, on a future movie, we're gonna do dumb and dumber.
That's that's what it was. That's what that was for me.
That was like a family movie night. Yeah, that's aw
Jim Carrey, Oh I know this guy, He's funny. Let's
watch this.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
And I was like, okay, okay, okay, but no, that
was a Friday night Blockbuster. That was, you know, years
later because we I I personally don't remember going to
the movie theater. Yeah, like I remember when they re
released Cinderella going to the movie theater. But after that,

(12:01):
when I was like four five years old, I don't
remember going to the movie theater. So everything was Blockbuster
or a family video or Hollywood video. Yeah at that point,
so everything was we watched it at home, right, and
this was an at home viewing, okay, And I remember

(12:22):
watching it being like cool, I want to fight someone
like that.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Yeah, like I want to fight, like you want to
get in there and like give it, do all the
moves and yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
And I do remember. So do you remember Blockbuster when
you rented the video.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Everything you're saying, yes, okay, show on a Friday afternoon,
as long as you returned it by Sunday afternoon. Yep,
you you were cool.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, exactly all day Saturday. And I remember this very
fucking vividly all day Saturday. That day, Jace played it
back to back to back to back to back, NonStop, like.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
He played, Oh I get that, I feel yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
But he was in the middle of the living room
doing the fight moves. Is his gangly self?

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Oh yeah, can you picture obviously? Yes.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
It was so funny. And then he come up to
me and be like, you gotta fight me, sub Zero,
and he'd punched me.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
He's like, you're the bad guy. I'm lu King, I'm
gonna fight you. I'm lu King, and you're Sonya Blade
because you're a girl, You're Katana, your Jade.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
But his favorite was always Reptile. Yeah, my favorite bad
guy was always sub Zero.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Reptile was my guy. He was my character, sub Zero.
So my uh, my first viewing this, this was a
boy's night out, me and dad.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Yeah, mom, mom, uh mom, and uh Jennifer little sister.
They were having like their their girls night hanging at
home on a Friday, and uh, Dad surprised me. He goes,
guess what I go? What he goes? I got tickets.
I'm like to where he goes. You'll see and I've

(14:10):
seen it in theaters. Well, I didn't know what we
were seeing until like the theme hit at like open
and I looked at I remember looking at him. I
was wearing my red and black flannel shirt tied around
my waist as one does in you know, nineteen ninety
five shirt yeah, yeah, blue jeans, my sneakers, yeah, like

(14:32):
candy and popcorn. It was like, what are we seeing? Dad?
And then the lights go out and then and then
you hear and I'm like yo oh. He's like yeah, Bud,
He's like yo yeah, and the themes kicking on and
I'm like sitting in the chair like I'm just jacked up.

(14:52):
I'm I am ready to fuck up every person in
this theater. I am so and I'm ten. I'm ten
years old. I will kill everyone here. I am so hyped.
I am ready to fight and do karate because I
was like just getting into martial arts at this time.
I wanted to show off my moves. It was like
I can't I'm in a theater, but no, it was

(15:13):
that was that was my and that that's one of
my favorite memories. Like as a kid was like boys
Night Mortal fucking Combat. Yeah, oh it was dope.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
And uh, my brother in the living room on a Saturday.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Did you ever play the game? Uh? Yes, okay, yes?
Did you have a favorite in the game? Yes? Who
was it?

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Sub zero?

Speaker 3 (15:36):
And zero? No?

Speaker 2 (15:38):
No? No, no sub zero?

Speaker 3 (15:40):
And on the Sega Genesis h no, I.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Always played the arcade. Oh okay, yeah, I always played
the arcade.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
I didn't have a sega either. My cousin he had
a sega, so if I would okay, yeah, okay, so
you go over to his house.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
And every time that we would go over to Bilbil's
house and.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Yeah, we would shout out Bill, Bill, here, you are
a brother. I love you, dud, You're the best. You're
the Bill. Will is the coolest.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
It's the coolest big brother ever, like non blood big brother,
big brother.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Like and now that I'm married to you, he's my
big brother too. I love him so much. Shout out Bill. Bill.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I would always play the like when we would go
to like Chuck E Cheese or an arcade. Yeah, that's
a d Z like we would play you.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Just named up fucking Discovery.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
I did, but I would play the arcade game and
my pick depending Now, I was always a strategist. Yeah,
when I was even a kid.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Did you ever play as Sonya? Were you a Sonya fan?

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Depending on who they picked?

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Okay, it's like, so if this person, well, let's say,
mean you're we walk up to the to the arcade,
to the box.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
We're playing, Yeah, you have to pick first.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
I'm gonna select my go to. I had Tokay Luke
King Scorpion. Okay, So that's that's It didn't matter like
who I'm playing, that's who I want to be because
in the first game that those were my guys. And
then in Mortal Kombat two is when is when Reptile
came out, of course, but Mortal Kombat two came out

(17:17):
before the movie. Pick one of those, Let's go Scorpion.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
If you pick Scorpion, okay, I would have picked at
that point.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Sub zero, Okay, more two enemies exactly.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, so if you pick.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Slaves to Shunk Shunk Sang Shang Sung's.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Power, you guys have to realize that we've drank.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
Like I drank five beers before we even started because
watching the movie, and I chugged half of them.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Yeah you did, because I was like, hey, I have
five or four. I'm on my fifth, and you're like,
watch this, watch me, watch me, watch me, watch me. Yeah,
but if like it, My character choice was always dependent
on what your pick was. I would let you pick

(18:07):
yours first.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Well did you ever think, though, like, how good is
the person that I'm playing against? How well do they
know the game?

Speaker 2 (18:14):
It was always someone that I knew.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Okay, it was you and I have never played more.
We have in there, we have it on Xbox.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
But it was never a random person. It was someone
from church or Jase or a friend or whatever. Okay,
so I it depending on who they picked.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Yeah, it's almost like Pokemon. It is to an extent. Yeah,
I guess.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
And it's depending on how you hit the buttons. And
I would just I would smash buttons and still win.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
So yeah, see I knew all the moves.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
I didn't. I just hit buttons, and.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
I might have I might have challenged you quite a bit.
Then I might have been a great threat to you, probably,
And on the on the on.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
The arcade, I didn't even think of her name. What
color does she wear in the new Mortal Kombat? She
has the teeth. She's like, I can't believe of her name.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
If I hear uh huh yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Not Sonia, not Katana.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Not Jade, not Jade.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
I wasn't a Jade fan.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
I like I do, but I like Jade because she
was the female counterpart to Reptile. Yes, and Reptile was
my guy. Ret roll. Reptile and Smoke were are my guys.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
I have something pulled up on my phone. I can't
lose it. So anyway, let's get into the movie.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Yo. Well, we've already talked about the theme.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Oh so I wrote this down too. So as we
are listening to the Mortal Kombat theme, yes, it's playing
for like two minutes, and then you get like Shang
Song and he's holding the kid and he's like, and

(19:56):
he goes yo, so is mine? I said, that is
what we would would used to say, like when we
were playing kickball and we knew we were gonna sell
that fucking ball, or if we were playing basketball and
we shot a three pointer, or if something was gonna happen,
we would always look at the picture the roller like whoever,

(20:20):
and we would look at them and say your soul
is mine and then fucking destroy them.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah after.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
No, oh no, well we were the weird ones then
I guess maybe I don't know.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Well, no, if I if me and my friends did
Mortal Combat, we would just like we did ours, more
of off like the game play.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Well no, like I'm saying, like if we were anything, Yeah,
was a finishing move?

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Oh you a finishing move? Yeah, I got you kickball baseball.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Like you you knew you were about to knock it
out of the park.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Well for on that for me get over here was always.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Oh yeah, yeah, well ours ours if you knew like
basses fucking loaded, two outs, three balls, two strikes, like
you were up to the plate, it was game time
and you looked at the picture and you said your

(21:15):
soul is mine and he threw it. You knocked it
out and you fucking won. Like that's that's kind of
how yeah, art my neighborhood went.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Well, here's the first act of the movie. The movie
follows lu King Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, three warriors
chosen by Lord Raydon, the God of Thunder and Defender
of Earth Realm each has a personal reason for competing
in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Lou seeks revenge against Shang
Sung for the killing of his brother Chan, Sonya wants

(21:46):
to capture Kano for murdering her partner, and Johnny aims
to prove his martial arts skills are real. They journeyed
to the tournament on a mysterious island. So the one
thing after after we see Shang Sung kill Chan, Johnny's
or not Johnny lu Kang's little brother, uh, we go

(22:12):
to Sonya and Jack's who is actually a h is
it introduced into Mortal Kombat?

Speaker 2 (22:19):
To the game, Hold on, hold on, okay, you're going there, Okay,
let's go Lou Kang.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Is it Luke King's green apartment?

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Nope, I have one better, Okay. Lou Kang had the
same hairstyle as Aunt Len did.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Oh your aunt Yeah? Oh it was popular in nineties.
The big poof it was the shaggy mullet. Yeah, but
it was poofyn.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
I swear to god that was ant Lynn. Yeah, so
that's what I got.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
So then we get to Sonya brother dead come home?

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
And that was a Western union.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
That was a collect call.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Do you remember no, remember, like you would have to
go to do Western unions, like you send money or
a message, like so you go up to the counter.
All right, so what's what's the message? Uh? Brother dead?

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Oh that'll be fifty cents?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Okay is uh are you okay? That's kind of weird?
Is everything? Okay? No, it's fine.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
He's just he's dead, brother dead.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Come home.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
I'm alive. Come home.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
It's so like okay, it's so good though. And he's
in that like that's that's like uh a nineties trope
apartment in movies. It's illuminated by like yeah, it's.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
A studio apartment, illuminated by like the bar.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Out yeah, a bar, train lights other but it's all green. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Sometimes.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Was that foreshadow to his fight with Reptile? I mean,
what is it's I know it'll be it's weird.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Yeah, Like I mean scary movies. If you're in a
studio apartment or a motel room, it's red, yeah, signifying
blood and death.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
This one foreshadows his battle with Reptile later on in
the film, because it's all green, and reptile is green
at night time, which is black. I don't know, so
I want to talk about this metal light who's playing
at this concert that Jackson Sonya go to.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
I want to be at that club so fucking badly,
And that's in my notes right now.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
It's that's that's my first note is Sonya and Jack's
at the metal club looking for Kano.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
The metal club itself, so it's not like your normal
like it kind of club. It's like and everybody's like
dancing to metal.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
It's like, yeah, yeah, Like, what the fuck is going on?
Are they at the same con concert that ace Ventura
was at? Is this Cannibal Corpse?

Speaker 2 (25:03):
It wasn't because it was a little bit softer.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
It was also it's also a year later.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
It was a little bit softer like it.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
It was on the same tour.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
It could have been maybe they were opening for Cannibal
Corpse and then ace Ventura came in.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
But no, true, very fault.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Oh it was. It was awesome though.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Right, what is this bar? What is this place? Yes? Yes,
that does not exist anymore.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
No, we need to bring it back.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
A ninety like a mid nineties metal club, Like it's
a nightclub.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Like you don't go to just mosh and listen to
bands and hang out and drink like you drink and
you dance to metal, Like there were people physically like
dancing to while He was like.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
Is it weird that I feel like that was the
same club where Blade was like, it's the same club,
same place that's Blade, it's just a few years later.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
The scenery, yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Yeah, and the music and.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
The sprinkler system that too.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
No, that's kind of the way that. I felt like
Blade had more electro to it, and they had more
heavy stuff. But I think that's kind of I feel
like they kind of set the tone for it, like, Yeah,
this is gonna be this is gonna be a badass movie,
and we need a badass intro, like to Sonya.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Like it's a cool open to Sonia and she's just
using like military jargon that she just heard in a
movie somewhere. Ah, you know, do you want to hear
a cool thing about Sonya Blade?

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (26:39):
So in this, Bridget Wilson is Sonya Blade.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
I said, she's my Sonya. She's a badass.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Do you know who? The uh yeah, before she got
hurt Cameron Diez was originally because of her, Yeah, because
her acting was so good in the Mask. The producers
love or. The casting director loved her so much in
the Mask that they wanted to put her in this,
and she did get the She did get cast of

(27:05):
the role as in the role, but she got hurt.
She got injured during choreography and had to bow out.
So they reached out to Bridget Wilson, who was at
the premiere at On the Red Carpet of Billy Madison,
and she accepted the role there.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
I don't know how I feel about Cameron Diaz.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Though, well, it's its early career, Cameron Diaz.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yeah, but I see Cameron Diaz as sexy and sultry
and not.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Sonia Blaine sexy. I don't know what sultry means. Sultry
means like seductive. Yes, oh, in a way, it's Cameron Diaz, But.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
I don't think that Cameron. If Cameron Diaz walked up
to me back.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
In that time, she's Charlie Charlie's Angels.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Okay, that's cool, but that took her like fifteen years later.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
More like five. No, what Charlie's Angels? Yeah, with her
and Lucy Low and Drew Barrymore. Yeah, babe, it was
it was very close to one. Yeah, yeah, it wasn't
long after. It wasn't that long after.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
She also had to train for like a year for that.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Cameron Diaz, Yes, she did.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
I know, but not for Mortal Kombat though. No, she
was in the process.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Yeah, I just I don't.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
I don't see that though I physically don't like this
part was made for Bridget Wilson. This part, God, she did.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
I mean not to speak negative on Cameron Diaz, because
I think she's a great actress. I am a fan
of Cameron Diaz. Yes, I love her work, especially in
the Mask. That was my sexual awakening. Nineteen ninety four
is when I had it her in the Mask. Yes,
well that was one of them. Kelli Kapowski, but yeah, huh,

(28:58):
Danielle Fisher, that's another one, Amy you Johnson. The list
goes on and on. That's not the point what I'm saying.
That's besides the point. But nineteen ninety four, ninety five,
Cameron Diaz spoke show oh yeah, yeah, yeah, when she
walks into the bank on the mask.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah, but in the Mask, she's.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Like, I think I don't think it would have been
as good, But I do think Bridget Wilson did better.
I think she did a great job at Sonya.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
She was more feminine to the point where she was
more badass. But she was like, I am going to
kill you, but I'm.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Pretty Veronica von so hot, want to touch the heinie.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
I also have a note that says first shot and
then he goes through the window, So that was a
fun shot for me. She has the shot good with.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
The big ass mag light on the front.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Yeah, and he's like pew pew, pew pew, and she's
like ha ha, that's funny. Boom, yeah, and like shoots
him a badass, but there was like a second from
the time that she shot him and then he flew
back and then busted through the window, and then she
walks up to him as he's dying and she's like,

(30:16):
where is a where's Keno Batman was there? Well that's
kind of how she sounded because she was so mad
at she was that girl. And then we go to Johnny.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Cage Okay, yes on his movie set. Yes, okay, yes,
so yeah, I was I was saying every I was
saying all of Johnny Cage's lines during this is the
part where you fall down No he huh, where do

(30:49):
you get these guys? Do you did you know that
the director of of that movie?

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Can I just say that? As they were panning, the
director was on the crane and he was like, all right,
what's going on here? You fucking suck And the director
I was like, is that is that?

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Is that?

Speaker 3 (31:10):
No?

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Not? I wish it was because it would have been great.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
So that was supposed to be, and he agreed to
cameo in this. The the director of E T Close
Encounters Jurassic Park Schindler's List. Yes, that's Steven Spielberg. That
was supposed to be because he was such a huge
fan of the Mortal Kombat. Oh yeah, he uh. The

(31:34):
director reached out and said, hey, do you want to
like a cameo in this? Would you be cool? And
Spielberg said yes, yes. But when it came time to
shoot that scene, he was in the process of he
was on location filming Jurassic Bud. No, Jassic Park came
out ninety three.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Oh yeah, I thought it was five.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Was three here, that's fine, but no, he was filming
another movie and he had to bow out, so they
they cast I forget the actor's name, but he looks
just like Spilberg. He's a little bit thicker a little bit, yeah,
but on his character is based on like his appearances.
It's supposed to be Steven's Johnny Cage was supposed to
be filming a Steven Spielberg movie, like a martial arts

(32:15):
action movie.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
So they're at some point, Uh, CGI happened and I
said CGI was so good for nineteen ninety five. Well,
and then uh, it says in the second one, what
the fuck happened? Yeah, we'll get to that November. You
guys have to wait.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
For November, big Nick, we're doing it. It's confirmed. Oh,
you know you're gonna love it.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Hold on moving.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
So then we get to the like you understand lu Kang.
Here you get introduced to lu Kang and he's in
like the Monk Timple where everybody temple and temple where
he's learning everything, and he's like, I'm gonna go fight
and he's like, I'm gonna fight him. I was invited

(33:10):
to Mortal Kombat and his teacher's like, ah, yeah, I
don't think so. But Raydon shows up.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Christopher fucking Lambert the Highlander.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
I loved him as Highlander. Highlighter was one of my
favorite movies as a kid. Again, like sheltered. So that
was kind of like.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
But why was a white man cast us an Asian
role like Zis was cast is an Asian. Like you
see this dude in a rice hat and you're thinking, yeah,
you know that's and then he lifts his head up

(33:52):
You're like, oh Asian. Yeah, the Asian Lord Raydon, the
God of Thunder himself, the one true God of Thunder, the.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Only god who is watching over Earth. Yes, that's I
mean they said it in the movie.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Hey, he's my God of Thunder. That's fucking Lord Raydon.
He's the goat.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
I'd love to see Raydon go up against the or.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
Dog walk. I don't think dog walk.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Anyway. It's a Marvel character as lou is like fighting
against it. He's like, I'm going, and his grandfather's like,
uh no, I don't think you should, and he's like,
I'm going, and he turns around a walk away. He
huffs I made a note as he's walking away. So
everybody is starting to part as he's walking away, and

(34:48):
this gentleman grabs two children in a very cinema cinematographic
way and like pulls them out of the camera frame
as he's walking over.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
These kids not supposed to be in the shot.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Exactly did you not see that?

Speaker 3 (35:05):
No, I've never noticed that. Momore like broke.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
It was like a maybe a seven and five year.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Old, like little children kid.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
They he grabs both of their heads and.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
He's like, you're not supposed to be in frame.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Here shifts them out of the way.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Well, do you think it's because it's this is the
part where Rayden like flipped lu Kang onto the ground
And no.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
No, it was after when Lou I was after that. Oh,
it turns around and he's pissed and he's like, I'm
going I don't care what you say. Yeah, and he
storms off down down the path. So, oh my god,
that's so funny.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
I thought it was like, maybe the reason for that
is you said it's not. No, it's like, oh, this
is the scene where Raydon flips lu Kang onto the grounds, like, oh,
you need to get these kids out of the way
so lu Kang doesn't take him in the head.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
No, Lou is like like soul.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
You just see two kids yanked out out of the shot.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Standing there in the middle. All of the adults are
partying because they know they need to part.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
And these kids won't fucking move, Like.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
They don't realize I need to move. And it was
literally like you could see if you look at the
the actor's face of loh, he kind of was like
should I stop? But then like a guy jumps out
of nowhere and like whoop and like moves them out
of the way. It was fucking It.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Was the the guy from the game, the Woo guy
from the game. He he yanked the kids out.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
He did. But you see the kids.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Do this poop like in the old cartoons where they
would put like a bamboo cane and he like around
the neck and like pull them.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
The kids were like.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Stretched them flipped out of the way.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
It was great.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
All right, let's uh, let's fast forward to the boat dock.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
Oh my god, the.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
I know you said you like the set of the
dock itself, like the pier, the pier.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
I love the ship.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Yeah, Like the whole.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Set dressing was fucking nomenal.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
Like Johnny Cage mistaking lu Kang for oh this guy
works here. Get my bags?

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Yeah, you get my bags, I give.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
You my blue throws them into the into the water. Yeah,
but where did the ship come from? It was just
like a cloud of smoke, and there's the boat. I guess, like,
wouldn't you have seen it? First of all, where did
the fucking fog come from?

Speaker 2 (37:26):
It was it? Uh uh teleported?

Speaker 3 (37:30):
Sure, you've got to realize it's magic. Yeah, let's yeah,
let's escape reality for a second. It is literally mortal combat.
Guys can freeze things with their hands, stuff coming out
of their hands, right, Bicycle kicks are a thing.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Eyeballs with the lasers and the fire.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
A lizard who can turn into a man and fight. Yeah, okay,
let's suspend reality for a second.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
On the dock, everybody meets everybody except so because Sonya
runs on last.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
Sonya wasn't supposed to be there.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Well, ish, I feel like she was supposed to be
there because.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Shang Sung knew that she was going to show up.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Yes, yeah, and she was a good fighter.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
She wasn't invited though, she wasn't like the way that
Luke King and Johnny Cage were invited to Mortal Kombat.
Sonya was just out for blood against Kano.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
But Shang Sung. I feel like Shang Sung really wanted
Kano his soul is why he invited Sonya because Sonya
wanted him dead. So bad.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
We'll get to that their battle.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
But I think that's why Shangsung kind of let that
happen to let her on the boat.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
Right right, that makes sense. I can I can get
on board with that. Well, while we're on the boat,
we are introduced to two of the most iconic characters
and the in the game.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
I said introduced to sub zero.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Slow motion walk is that door was opening? And here
comes Scorpion and sub.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Zero, everybody's favorite. If you don't like subject at least
sub zero or Scorpion, are you a really are you
really a Mortal Kombat fan?

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Well, lu king, Well I met like bad guy Wise.
Oh that yeah, yeah, either like.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Sub Zero or Scorpion. If you had to choose one,
who would you choose?

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Right? Yeah? No, that that makes sense, like one or
the other? Oh I if I had to go, I
I guess I'm gonna go Scorpion sub zero.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
Girl.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
You know Scorpion is the reason, well besides Tennessee that
my favorite color is orange.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Why he's yellow?

Speaker 3 (39:36):
No, he's orange, it's orange yellow. He's not yellow. Any
cyrax is yellow. And that's Mortal Kombat three.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
We're only halfway through my four pages.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
By the way, You're fine. This is a dope movie
and we're gonna talk a lot about it.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
No, we're not gonna talk about the whole movie and
scene for scene, but we're talking about our favorite moments
or iconic moment, but in order. So one of my my,
I like the way that sub Zero Scorpion showed up
and they're just like showing.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
Up ready to go.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Sub Zero is like icicles coming out of his fingers,
and Scorpions.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
Got well, he froze Sonya's gun.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Oh yeah, he touched her gun frozen and broke it. Yeah,
and then Scorpion had the little like a bird Yeah
what a did?

Speaker 3 (40:26):
It screeches like an eagle?

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Yeah, but it's also like a viper esque, like, yeah, it's.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
Got claw, it opens like claws, and then there's a
and it has its own tongue. How much of that
is in his body?

Speaker 2 (40:41):
A lot?

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Does he just like lot?

Speaker 2 (40:44):
I guess I'm pretty sure a lot. But then after
they kind of like prodded at So when Sonya went
below deck, Johnny followed, because Johnny still has some sort
of like weird attract to Sonya, like he was like, oh,
this bitch is a badass.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
It checks. I would it checks. I would totally.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
Fight for her.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
Yeah, I would pay her. I would pay her bills.
I care about her. I care about It is Bridget
Wilson and she was a crush.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
Oh she's so pretty.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
It's Billy Madison. It was the Veronica Von being a
teacher telling me what to do.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
And then of course lu Kang had to follow Luke
Cage because or Johnny Cage because Lou was like, you're
a fucking douchebag and you're gonna get into trouble and
I have to save you. So I feel like that's
kind of what it was. Is like Sonya was like, I'm.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
Gonna do everything because.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
You can't stop me. Yeah, and then Johnny was like,
but I have an attraction to you and I have
to follow you. And Lou was like Johnny's just a
retard and I have to follow him retard, and like
I have to be there.

Speaker 3 (41:53):
I have a question. Okay, So for the first half
of this film, how come Sonya doesn't hold to her gun,
like put it up, you don't need it. When the
whole when they go back up to the upper to
the deck and they're taught, they're conversing they're by their self.
Put your gun up, you don't need it, just put it,

(42:15):
holster it. Put it up. Why are you still holding
onto this?

Speaker 2 (42:20):
It's sonia. Maybe it's a protection thing.

Speaker 3 (42:22):
How did you get it back? So Zero took it
from you?

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Maybe she has autism and she likes to the feel
of it.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
Is a gun her fidget.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Yes, it could be like your wiener is your fidget?

Speaker 3 (42:35):
Yeah, I guess, I mean, think about it, but I
holster it.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
When you're at work.

Speaker 3 (42:43):
Well, obviously I do play with it a lot when
we're watching movies.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
So this is the second time that we are introduced
to Raydon. Yes, and my note says, Raiden sounds like
he spoke two packs a day since he was four
years old.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
At this point, he's used his Highlander voice.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Oh this is not highlander voice.

Speaker 3 (43:03):
He's using his Highlander voice.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
So, what are you gonna do about it? Enough? Enough,
it's just.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
His voice, not yet, not yet. His his voice is
just so fucking weird in this, Like he doesn't know
I mean, he knows about Mortal Kombat, and he's trying
to give them the tools to succeed. But he's trying
to be as like inconspicuous as possible.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Yeah, my name is Raydon and I'm here.

Speaker 2 (43:47):
Like that's the way that I just.

Speaker 3 (43:49):
Oh, I think he has a pretty commanding voice.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
If he looked at me and was like.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
You are gonna join the mortal combat, well, it's a
little louder than that.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
I would look at him and be like, do you
need a lighter.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
On you?

Speaker 3 (44:12):
You got a cigarette?

Speaker 2 (44:12):
Oh? I know you got a carton hidden under that?

Speaker 3 (44:15):
Can I can I bomb a smoke? You got any
you want to go outside and burn a heater, rip
some butts.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
So on the ship after they meet some zero and
Scorpion and then they they get into the lifeboats and
they're rowing ashore.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
When they get ashore after lu Kang is like he
gets out of the boat in the water, pulls it out.
Everybody jumps out.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
Oh is this where Johnny has the bags and face
plants into the water. Yeah? Yeah. Can can we just
can I just ask like, how do we feel about
at this point? How do we feel about Lynda Ashby
as Johnny Cage?

Speaker 2 (44:55):
Amazing?

Speaker 3 (44:55):
It's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (44:56):
Amazing.

Speaker 3 (44:56):
He is the comedy release.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
I mean, I like the fact that he's the comed relief,
but he's.

Speaker 3 (45:01):
Also when he needs to be when he needs to
be serious.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
He is, yes, but he is on comedy relief.

Speaker 3 (45:10):
Yeah, dude, I mean, are we cool with Lenna Ashbeaty
and Johnny Kay, I'm in, I'm locked in. I think
that's great casting.

Speaker 2 (45:19):
And I like the way that Sonya gets really mad
at him. Yeah, then walks away and you could see
that her her pants are like in the middle between
her belly button and her titties. Yeah, it's so nineties
as fuck. It's black jeans and a black like leotard.

(45:40):
It's it's a it's a bathing it's a bathing suit
under those black jeans.

Speaker 3 (45:46):
I thought that was like just a wife beater.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
That a leotard. It's a black swimsuit. It's literally like
a black swimsuit.

Speaker 3 (45:54):
And yeah, okay, I thought it was just a wife
beater she had tucked in.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
Nope.

Speaker 3 (45:59):
Okay, well ship, okay, how do we at this point?
How do we feel about Carrie Tagawa a shank song?

Speaker 2 (46:09):
He does good.

Speaker 3 (46:10):
I'm in good. I like it really good.

Speaker 2 (46:12):
I said earlier it would have been really really cool
in the Mortal Kombat remake if the guy who played
Lu Kang reprise, not reprised, but he came back as
Shang Song.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
If he was Shank Song.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
Was Shank Song in the New Mortal Kombat.

Speaker 3 (46:34):
I could see that. I think he is. He's a
great fighter. He is, he's a great fighter.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
So now we're in the in the Great Hall.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
Oh my god, the dinner scene.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
I want food served to me on big wooden planks,
big wooden Looking.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
At all that food, I'm like, oh my god, this
looks so because you got like these. If you look
and I pointed this out to you while we were
watching it, the U the shrimp platter, those fuckers that
was shrimp lobster. If you go back and look at it,
that's shrimp.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
Is it the curly cue shall yeah? Or tails?

Speaker 3 (47:11):
Yeah, that's shrimp. But those fuckers were huge. Yeah, all
of that food looks so good. And then all the
red mask people have to come out and oh, okay,
go ahead. Sorry.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
As everyone sitting down at the table the doors start
to close.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
Rayden stare, oh my god, I have that on my
next like, like, what are you doing dude? Like he's just.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
It's a creepy.

Speaker 3 (47:46):
He's just a creepy. What is that? What does that
look Rayden?

Speaker 2 (47:52):
I don't know if it's happy. I don't know if
it's sad. I don't know if it's angry.

Speaker 3 (47:55):
Like that, dude, we're trying to have dinner. Will you
go on, either come sit down and eat or go home?

Speaker 2 (48:03):
It was weird?

Speaker 3 (48:03):
What is that?

Speaker 2 (48:04):
And the door closed and he never fucking blinked the
whole time.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
I know he's just and he's he's doing that. You
ever seen that? Uh, it's like a meme. It's uh, fuck,
what's the actor's name? He was in Twister, He's the
one that started the food.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
Oh fucking damn it.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
Hold on, I know he was in Patch Adams.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
It's uh uh.

Speaker 3 (48:39):
People listening to this are getting pissed at us.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
Right, I know, I know, especially if their movie.

Speaker 3 (48:45):
Philip Seymour Hoffman when he's like it's that meme of
him staring at Tom Cruise and Tom Cruise is going no, no, no,
It's it's like it's that yep. I apologize to fans

(49:06):
of Philip Seymour Hoffman, great great actor. I apologize for
forgetting his name. Sorry about that. But anyways, so we're
at the dinner hall.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
Oh so when the red Hoods come in.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
Oh my god, who are these guys?

Speaker 2 (49:22):
They were throwing tables, but it really didn't clear.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
The room, Like we're sitting here on.

Speaker 2 (49:29):
The outside, so the outside they threw them out, but
the ones in the middle they just threw forward.

Speaker 3 (49:36):
We're sitting here like, bro, I'm eating What the fuck?
I was eating that?

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Ye?

Speaker 3 (49:41):
What are you doing? And like do these guys I
was so mad about that. Do these guys know that,
like one of you has to like mo sub Zero?

Speaker 2 (49:53):
Well no, I think one of them did. And he's yeah,
like the guy that took sub zero on, Yeah, who's doing?

Speaker 3 (50:02):
Like it's like all the Hiaas from three Ninjas combined
into one and Power Rangers. Yeah but three he's making sound.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
I had more problems with the middle tables that like
they didn't like pick them up and move.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
Them just they.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Just threw them at the camera.

Speaker 3 (50:22):
All that delicious fruits, meats, seafoods, everything, breads, cheeses. Oh
my god. I was so mad, like, bro, can you
just like you can pick up these tables and move
them right.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
But the you have muscles. I like the way that
Shang Sung made a fight between sub Zero and a
Red Hood kid, like, this is what you're going up against.
Good luck, Yeah, good fucking luck, right like this this

(50:58):
is my champion. This is a nobody who thinks he
could beat my champion. Yeah, hats off to you. And
then like the dude got too full of himself and
then sub zero shattered him into six million pieces.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
Yeah, except for his head, which landed conveniently at Shang
Sung's feet, just it was.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
At his jaw and up. But and then at the
end of it, Lou Kang, Johnny and Sonya ran outside
and they were like, hey, we're gonna go do this,
and Sonya was like, Hey, I'm gonna go after Kano,
and Johnny's like, I'm gonna go after Sonya and Lu Kang.

(51:44):
So I have Lou is Alu Kang is a slut
for Lu. Hold on, what do I have? Lou Lou
wants to kill Shang Sung. Sonya wants to kill Keno.
Johnny wants to.

Speaker 3 (52:02):
Fuck Sonya like that checks.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
Johnny doesn't give a fuck what happens as long as
he can touch Sonya at some point.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
I like the way that I do, like the way
that they were making, like they made Johnny like in
love with.

Speaker 3 (52:18):
Sonya, Yeah, I like, uh they so at this point
they've they're trying to follow Katana. This bothers me. All right, yeah,
so and Johnny Cage says, oh, she came through here,
then why are the spider webs not moved out of
the way?

Speaker 2 (52:37):
That's on page three?

Speaker 3 (52:38):
Hold on stop?

Speaker 2 (52:41):
Oh wait no, it's right here right here.

Speaker 3 (52:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
So as as they're like going through the caves, yes,
that tunnel and well, they're like, oh, no, where are
we what are we going to do? How are we
going to get out of here? I've never seen this
place before.

Speaker 3 (52:53):
She's ten thousand years old.

Speaker 2 (52:54):
She like shows up with the torch and lou Kang
was like, we're going to go through here, and Johnny
was like, how do you know that? He john Luke
Kang was like because of her? And then like they
go and as they're walking through, they're like, how do
you know she was here? Johnny's like, I smell her
perfume as he's pushing apart the spider web.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
Yeah she came through here, yeah, he goes, she came
through here. Then if she did, how come the spider
webs were not already like split? Yeah? And then where
would she have gone right. Exactly what did she do
face through them like the flash? Probably No, Katana can't

(53:36):
do that. Ten thousand years old, she could do whatever
the fuck she wants to do. That's not a thing.

Speaker 2 (53:41):
But then you enter this great cave hall thing and
now and then the music hits again. Dun dun dun
dun dun dun dun dun dun dun du du dun.

Speaker 3 (53:53):
Well before that, we're at watching Kano in a very
gross manner legs and he's having just chewing them. He
didn't even chew, he he could bite and then stopped
and would talk. Him and Kanu or him and Goro
are having their back and forth. You know, I was

(54:14):
a bit of a underworund leader back home.

Speaker 1 (54:17):
Oh, I'm lucky for them.

Speaker 3 (54:19):
Spills the wine, big fucking glass of wine. You're making
a huge.

Speaker 2 (54:23):
I know this is ann back home honor of Frank.

Speaker 3 (54:30):
So fun little fact about Kno. Let's talk about Kano
for a second. So in the first game, Uh, Kano
was actually an Asian person. Yes, but uh, the guys
who created the game loved his performance in the movie
so much that they changed it to him, and that's

(54:53):
who it has been ever since. The actor who played
Kano in this movie as Australia. Yes, oh so good. Yeah,
he did so good. Goro was the most inconvenient part
of filming this movie because every time they had to
change him locations, they had to take him apart because

(55:14):
it was so big that he couldn't fit like tall. Yeah,
if they had to transport him by plane or whatever,
they had to completely disassemble him just to try and
then put him back together again. Just every time you
seek Goro in a in a scene, he has been

(55:35):
taken completely apart and rebuild because he's so big they
couldn't move in and that animatronic weighs so much. It
was heavy as fuck.

Speaker 2 (55:46):
I thought it would have been a costume type thing
to where somebody was No.

Speaker 3 (55:51):
It was. He was full pneumatic and I'm glad that
they didn't see Gi Goro. I know a lot of
people have complaints about Gore in his voice, but for
nineteen ninety five, I think it was pretty spot on.
I think it was very well done. Yeah, his scream
that he does is annoying, but overall, I'm I kind

(56:14):
of I vibe with it a little bit. I'm into it.
As a character. That's but that's my opinion. I don't
know how you feel. I thought it was cool. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (56:25):
So when they are in the a hall or a
cave area and the Red Hood show up music hits again,
you know there's gonna be a fight. When you hear
that music, you know it's gonna be a lethal fight.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
So if you if you pay attention, because I like
to watch, like the weird side shit, they hit the
table and the food goes jiggle, jiggle, jiggle. If you
could see them hit the food and it jiggles, it's like,
is that that's not real? That's jello or that's Silagone, Like, yeah,
that's not real food. My one of my favorites is

(57:09):
they focus on the fights with lu Kang, Johnny Cage,
and Sonia Blade and everybody gets their spotlight, like no
one is high hierarchy over the other. You get all
of that good fight scene, but it ends with Sonia
the bad guy that is fighting Lou and then switches

(57:33):
to Johnny and then switches to Sony.

Speaker 3 (57:35):
Are we talking about when the Red Hood guys try
to fight?

Speaker 2 (57:41):
Yeah, but then she closed lines the last guy. But
she closed lines the last guy and he goes down.

Speaker 3 (57:52):
I love that they all got to showcase their skills
for the audience. Yes, for like like the movie Guars.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
You get to see them in like raw form, like
this is how they fight.

Speaker 3 (58:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (58:04):
Lu Kang is like get.

Speaker 3 (58:05):
You get to see all their styles.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
Lu Kang is technical, technical, Johnny Cage is just like
thinking ahead of the game, like a chess player. Yeah, like, hey,
what's he gonna throw next?

Speaker 3 (58:19):
Sonya is kind of the brawler.

Speaker 2 (58:20):
Yeah, exactly, That's what I was gonna say. Sonya's just like,
let's just fucking go. You throw hands. I'm gonna throw hands.
Let's see where it ends up. Yeah, and then like
you get to that point and at the very end,
after she closed lines him, everybody gets a pose.

Speaker 3 (58:36):
Oh my god, yes, fire, I got that's in my
notes in all caps fight pose. Oh the fight pose,
which is kind of like a trope for martial arts
movies back in back in our day. But it's it's
it's still cool. I think it still works. I like it.
I don't. I don't care what anyone else says that
I like it.

Speaker 2 (58:56):
No, I love that. I wish more martial arts or
movies like that would do the do the thing where
it's like you power Rangers always fucking did it. Yeah,
they finished a bad guy like a putty. They would
punch him in the chest and then they'd stop and
then pose because they they beat the putty, or they'd

(59:17):
beat a bad guy and they'd all and you'd see
them all hit that pose.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
I don't care who you are. Whenever you fuck someone up,
you do a fight pose, You do a pose when
you're done, and I like it, and it's it stays.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
Then we go to Raydon sitting on the steps clapping, yeah,
being a fucking weirdow his fucking.

Speaker 3 (59:43):
But what are you gonna do about then? And then yep,
you see like hundreds of them with weapons.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
You didn't, you didn't hear it, but I heard it.
But he changed. He had like three sentences and he
changed his accent three times. He went from a British
accent to an Australian accent to an Asian accent and
then back to.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
His He did. He did.

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
It was so bad. He was like, that was a
good job, good job, And what do you think you're
gonna do about them?

Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
What the fuck?

Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
I didn't hear it, But if you heard it. That's
that's you. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
And then we get to the beach where we have
lu Kang versus the black the black guy with the dreads.

Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
You can say, guy, it's fine, he did a good job.
Like good god, except yeah, this is where the tournament
actually begins.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
And then it's also uh, during the fight, was the
weird noises.

Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Of the who? Yeah, well, I like I like in
this because you really get to see Robin Show lu
Kang showcase his skill. And I've and I said this
while we were watching it. Yes, like, why isn't Robin
Show been in more, you know, action movies, But no,

(01:01:05):
I think Robin Show is such a great You can
tell by his skill that this guy isn't just a
movie martial artist. This guy really knows his ship.

Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
He doesn't he doesn't do it for fun. He lives it,
he breathes it.

Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
He he's an actual he's an actual trained martial artist.
He's so he's very good.

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
Yes, And his moves are so smooth.

Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
He's he's he's.

Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Gonna cut you and you don't know where that he
cuts you.

Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
He's really his style is so graceful and beautiful. It's
very artistic. Yes, I think love it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
I love the the fight scenes that he he has,
like they're so.

Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
Good and we're gonna get into the best one of
all time.

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
In a minute, in a minute. And then we get
after lu Kang beats the guy and Shanksung takes his soul.

Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
And then we get Sonya up to the block.

Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
Yes, and we all.

Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
Think, oh, she's going up against like Katana or another girl,
and then of course here comes Kano. Yeah, Kano comes out.

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
I think I knew she was going she was getting
ready to go up against Kano. I knew that, I
think because because it was I mean, it's pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
Obvious for me, though, I thought they would have saved
the Sonya like down the road, like it's the end,
to make it a bigger but they had to make something.

Speaker 3 (01:02:31):
Yeah, I see what you're saying, like worth it. Yeah,
in this scene, I see what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
And I like the fact that she got like sixty
two hits against his Uh two I didn't count, but
I'm gonna go sixty two for Sonya. And Kano had
the face hit and then uh when he kicked her
in the ribs when she was down, and then she

(01:03:01):
put her legs on his face and then he said, oh,
give me a break, and she goes okay, And.

Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
I was kind of grossed out when you could see
his spit on her her inner thigh.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
It was her knee, Yeah, it was right on her knee.

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
But that being said, the way Cano died, I want
that from you. Of men, kill me that way when
I am on my thighs. No, your thighs, not my thighs.

Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
No, no, no no, Like most men would look at
their women and be like, uh, I'm gonna die this way.

Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
If if I die, I die.

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
Do you want me to go out happy or miserable
and in pain?

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
No? I me you go out happy and miserable.

Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
No, don't not, misser. You're gonna fart, aren't you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Yeah, that's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
Do it? Enjoy I'm used to it. Not my first
radio with you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
And then after.

Speaker 3 (01:03:58):
Every every every boy who saw this movie, he was like,
I'll go that way. I want to go out that way.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
I want to go out that way.

Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
Dad. I'm a man.

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
Now I'm gonna go out this way.

Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
I'm the man in the house going.

Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
To be in Sonia's thighs and she's gonna kill me, okay.

Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
I distinctly remember Dad going nice when Cano died that way.

Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
And then then we get to the weird random Johnny
Cage walking through trees or an orchard or something.

Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
What a beautiful forest.

Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
It was beautiful.

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
Every tree is perfectly yes, a lot lined up. Yeah,
I like those forests.

Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Yep. It's random as fuck.

Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
Too, though it's so beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
Though it is beautiful, But it was random that Johnny
was just walking through a forest or an orchard.

Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Okay, those skinny ass trees, and out from behind one
of them just scorpion six inch? Yeah, six inch tree?
Did you how do you hide behind that? He was
just going for a walk. I guess like Johnny was
just out for a walk. Yeah. And then they like,
oh this this looks nice. I'm just gonna go through here,

(01:05:12):
and like, oh it's beautiful through forest. I'm just gonna
go for a walk and kind of clear my head
and and you know, just train, like breathing and calm
down and just.

Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Gonna practice moves and just be here and oh no,
there's scorpion welcome yep. And then he goes from the
trees to uh hell or scorpions scorpions layer scorpions Layer.

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
Can we can we talk about scorpions Layer? Yes? Is
that in your show notes too? No, it's in my god,
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
How cool as fun.

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
It's pretty rad.

Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
It's like if Freddy Krueger was.

Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
It's like it's like one of Freddy's like boiler Rooms.

Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
No, it's Freddy Krueger if he was in the eighteen hundreds.

Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
I like that. Yeah, I like that, And I like
the random like the like the like, and this is
such a nineties like film trope where you like zoom
in like it's a zoom in tilt on like certain things. Yes,
but all it is is like, yeah, ribs would here's
a bone. Oh, here's a bone too. Oh look at

(01:06:17):
this guy. He's dead too, just so you know, so
you know where we are.

Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Everything is dead.

Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
And then you hear welcome Scorpion's voice yep, which is
that is the same guy who voice Scorpion in the game.

Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
And then we get the classic got over here, get
over here? Oh he said the thing, he said the
thing he said it, what are you doing? Come here?
And then good fight, solid fight. Yes, shout out to
the actor. I can't remember his name that plays Scorpion. Yes,

(01:06:56):
fucking crush.

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
Also the actor, not actor stunt, the stunt guy who
did the gymnastics.

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
On the on the bar for Johnny.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
For Johnny like flipped and that was he did the
whole thing himself. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:07:14):
I just wanted to see what he would be like, wait,
no ship, that was him. Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
And then Johnny of course destroy Scorpion.

Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
I like the fight. I like the the shield with
the blazer blades down, like yeah, looked like a circular
saw that he just disassembled and you.

Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
Cut picks it up and charges him and then stabs
him and then backs up and then he like explodes
slices his I like the way Scorpion's face melted away
and you had a skull face.

Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
Well, I know you said, like, oh, Scorpions, that's cool
that Scorpion takes off his mask and it's a skull. Well,
that's that's his fatality, I know.

Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
But I didn't know that Scorpion could blow flames out
of his eyes.

Speaker 3 (01:07:57):
His blood is lava. Yeah, liquid heard magma magma liquid heart.

Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Magama like shoots eye fire.

Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
Apparently Scorpion had a time bomb in his body. So
when he dies, he blows up.

Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Boom, and Johnny gets away. And then Johnny's like, where.

Speaker 3 (01:08:15):
Did Johnny go? How did he get out of there?

Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
He found his way out? I don't know, but I
want to know why he had an autographed picture.

Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
No, the to my biggest fane.

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Johnny Cage. And then it's just sitting there.

Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
Where did that come from?

Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
I'm telling you, I bet it was like a five
by five in his pocket.

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
Well, that's that's an that's an eight by ten.

Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
He probably had it in his back pocket.

Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
How do you fit an eight by It wasn't folded,
there's no creases.

Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
It doesn't matter. It's Johnny. It's Johnny, doesn't.

Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
It just appeared? Yeah? I want that autograph. If if
I had to pick a prop from this movie, I
want I want. I think I'm gonna have to go
with the the Johnny Cage autograph. Well, what would your
prop if you had to pick a prop in this movie?

Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
Ship?

Speaker 3 (01:08:59):
What would you take?

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
His sunglasses?

Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
Johnny cages? So we're both taking Johnny cages.

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
Okay, So we get back to you get into the
blue light and you could already tell it's a soft
blue light and there's like a dude in a robe
carrying water.

Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
Buckets and hold on. Oh we skipped ahead because I
want to talk about this fight. Yeah, that was a ballet, Yeah,
but it was not. It was a great ballet. Was
it a Mortal Kombat fight? Though? Yes, Shang Sung was present.
He also was pissed that neither of them they were
both holding back. But I think that was a beautiful fight.

(01:09:44):
It was. It was a sparring bout.

Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
It was a choreographed Yeah, they were spark Oh, it
was great.

Speaker 3 (01:09:49):
That's what sparring looks like.

Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
And I love the fact that she kept up with him.

Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
No, no, she didn't keep up with him. She blocked
like she she let him throw punches.

Speaker 3 (01:10:04):
They were both on defense. They were both on defense,
and that's what that is.

Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
She she she knew what he was going to throw,
and she she didn't block.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
It, but she gently Their styles matched.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Yes, did you notice that at the beginning, Yeah, where
they both came in they had the same moves.

Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
I've I've sparred with people.

Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
Like that where you had the same like intro breathing.

Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
Yeah. Yeah, and that's why Shang Sung was getting pissed.
But why did during each every every thirty seconds, Why
did Katana have to drop some kind of cryptid message
to lu Kang because she knew that he used them
to use the element which just say water, bitch.

Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
She was trying to make him work for it. Yeah,
use his brain like she was trying to not give
him clues without giving him clues.

Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
Yeah, that's she was.

Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
She knew he was the chosen one, and if he
really was the chosen one.

Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
He would he would understand. I guess that makes sense.
I don't know. It was still weird to me, but
it was a pretty graceful fight I had. I had
their bad their their fight in my uh in my
show notes, and I wanted to I wanted to bring
that up. I thought it was I thought it was
pretty cool. It says, uh. Luke Haying is confused by

(01:11:30):
the bullshit that Katana is saying during their fight because
when she says use the element which brings life, he
goes the what like, what.

Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Are you saying everything she says? He's like, huh what.

Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
You're lucky, You're hot? What is this? I just I
just want to have sex with you. Why are you
saying that? That's not the dirty talk? I want, what
are you saying, woman? You weirdo?

Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
So then we go into this how you talked ten
thousand years ago?

Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
It's ninety five. You can say normal speech.

Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
Nine hundred and eighty nine and eighty years ago when
you were twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
Yeah, is this how teens talked back in your day?
Is this your skivity? Riz? It is back ten thousand
years No.

Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
Cap, babe, no pap.

Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
Is this your no cap riz?

Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
No cap. So we get to the light, blue light,
and there is someone carrying buckets of water and sets
it down and then two buckets and Lou comes out
into this area and then all of a sudden, boom,
some music hits, some zero pops out.

Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
And I like this fight.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
It was a good fight. It is a top fight
that Lou Kang is in it is. It's a top
three fight in the movie for me. It's a top
three fight for me in the movie.

Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
Yeah. I like the how it's not the music is
just it's drums. Yeah, and the drums. I like how
the drums are timed with the motions in the fight. Yeah.
I thought that was really cool. I like like when
they were composing this and doing.

Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
The music, they were watching it they were what's gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Yeah, percussions. Watch watch their movements and try to like
keep on pace with that. It was good and they
they matched it solidly.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
I think, yeah, all of the fights they matched the percussions.

Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
Yeah, lawlessly, for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
It was so good. So then lu Kang finally looks
over and sees Katana in like a doorway, and.

Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
He's like, oh, she's so pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
The the thing the element of life, it's water, and
he picks up the water and he spends the bucket
like fourteen times.

Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
I have a question, huh, maybe you can answer this.
So when she like popped out from behind the corner,
arms crossed, and she's again without speaking out loud, says,
use the element which brings life.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
I think that is his.

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
He was remembering that she said that. She said that, Yes, okay,
So I was thinking, like, when did she develop telepathy?

Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
Yeah, Teleesi says to h yeah, tele No, I think
it was he was remembering what she was saying, and.

Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
He looked at the buck as like, oh, oh, dad's
what she Yeah, that's okay.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
Also, her and Raydon you don't understand this, but her
and Raiden are working secretly because her world has been
completely fucked. World is from the outworld. Yes, her world
has been destroyed, and Raiden's like, hey, what can we
do together to make sure that my world that I'm
in charge of.

Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
Doesn't get fucked? Right?

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
So that's why she's like, hey, you be ah, you
hide and you bring the water, and there's this fight
gonna happen because I know it's gonna happen. And then
he's gonna understand that you take this bucket and throw
the water, it turns into an iceicicle and it kills
fucking sub zero.

Speaker 3 (01:15:08):
It was a ten foot icicle.

Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
Yep, yep.

Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
And then now we're I want to go fast forward
a little bit to Goros fight. Goros fights. We get
the Goro toss. You just see like ten dudes been
flung into under gravel. Yeah, and then you hear girls
screaming every time. Yeah, the girl toss. And now Goro
has to fight or Art.

Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
I like the I like the way when he's fighting Art,
but they pan off to the side they're like, dude, bros.

Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
He's like, oh dude, yeah, well they're trying to they're
trying to dab up their boy. Arts. Art's the guy
right now, this is his moment.

Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
Art they dabbed up each other on the side, They're like,
oh dude, this is so cool.

Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
But Art was our Art was their boy. He was
like they were psyched for their guy. So Art did
a good job, he'd oh, yeah, he did his best.
But I have a problem with this, okay. So Art dies?

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
Yes, right, well, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
Shang Song says, quote flawless victory. Do you know what
flawless victory is? That means your opponent did not land
a punch or a kick on Art did Oh yeah,
there was no damage. No, well, maybe a little bit,
because you see Goro wentz when Art when Art roundhouse

(01:16:28):
or kicked him in the side, Goro stumbled a little bit. Yeah,
that's not a flawless victory. Art landed a punch. That's
not flawless victory.

Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
Honestly, though, where else in the whole movie think about it,
would have would Shank Song say flawless victory? There is none.

Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
We'll give you one momentarily where he should have said
it but didn't, or he should have said it but
he didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
But when Art dies, yeah, I thought it was really
it was a funny, but it was comical that he
put his arms under him and cradled him like a baby,
all four arms.

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
And then like lifting him above his head, and you
see Art just like.

Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
Oh god, I'm done.

Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Yeah, And then Art's soul comes out and then Art
starts screaming and yelling yeah, going into Shingsun's eyeball yep yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
And then my next note is uh. When Raydon shows
back up again, he is super nasally and very soft,
so Raiden can't figure out his cadence at this point
where he's like, my name is Raydon here, he's like
or he could be Australian, or he could be British,

(01:17:46):
or he could be.

Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
He's the Highlander. He can do whatever the fuck you wants.
He's the Eyelander and the god of thunder. Can I
just say, though, do whatever the fuck you want.

Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
I also love the filter when Shang Song is meditating,
when Sonya is training and Johnny is watching Sonya train.

Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
You mean when Lou King is meditating.

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
Yes, Lou sorry, And the beach with the and the
sunset though it's really the whole background is like orange
and pink and purple and just that red.

Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
I told you, I said I want to I want
to go on a beach trip, and I want to
find a spot on the beach where there's not it's
it's just me alone, yeah, no one, Yeah, And I
just want to sit down, close my eyes and think
for like thirty minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
You don't think when you meditate, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
You shut it all down. Yeah, yeah, you don't think.

Speaker 2 (01:18:41):
You there's nothing there.

Speaker 3 (01:18:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
You let whatever happens happens like that.

Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
I think that would fix my ADHD. Honestly, I really do.
Maybe just in my my brains, just going.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Go outside and fire or go into the woods. The
woods is my my But.

Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
You here, like the crash of the waves. That's it.

Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
Mine is the bugs chirping and the water rippling.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
And can't get mosquito. Can't get mosquito bites on a
oh a what there?

Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Can't get mosquito bites on the beach. Yeah, but I
don't like sand, I eat sand put out.

Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
A blanket, blankets a chair.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
So here we now come to Johnny challenging Goro, because yes,
it already feels at this point, Johnny feels that the
next thing that's gonna happen is that Goro and Sonia
are going Yeah, because there's only a handful of combat.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
People left, and Johnny thinks, if I can beat Goro,
this is over. This and this is.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
Over because Goro is their last champion. He's yeah, he's
the raining chair final champion, raining.

Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
Defences, He's the tribal chief. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
But I that's why Johnny took the the He said,
I'm going to make this happen.

Speaker 3 (01:20:12):
Do you know what else he said? It was a five.

Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
The calm the fuck down, Calm the fuck down. So
when Johnny finally gets to square up against Goro at
this point, like one of my favorite parts is after
he breaks his sunglasses and.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Says eventually he says it later on down into the fight,
towards the end of the fight.

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
So Johnny kicks Goro in the nuts.

Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
No, no, he doesn't. He does the splits and then
punches him in the nuts, which is a move his
that's one of his moves in the games.

Speaker 2 (01:20:53):
In the game. But Raydon told Johnny and Luke King
that there is a way to beat him. Yeah, and
that's where Johnny figured it out. I like the way
during the Goro Johnny fight, when Raydon is in the
crowd and Johnny makes that punch, he like the guy

(01:21:15):
next to him is just a random guy, and he
hits him like four times.

Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
And he's like, you could do that im Mortal Kombat.
Oh fuck, you can dick punch, Like, oh yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
Raydon is so excited and you actually used to see emotion.

Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
Yeah, Rad's like, oh that's my guy. Fuck you guys,
I'm winning this bet.

Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
But then, but then, when Johnny is fighting Goro, we
get a ninety nineteen nineties montage music scene. Yeah, like
you get that nineties.

Speaker 3 (01:21:50):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
And then when they're like in the final throes of
the battle, Johnny is fucking pissed.

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
Well, he like runs off to try to make like
Goro chase him. He puts him in pursuit.

Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
Honestly though, at that point, like Goro, Yes, Goro has strength, yeah,
but he doesn't have agility. No agility and uh uh
oh fuck what's that word when you have endurance? Yes,
he doesn't have endurance. He has the strength to kick
your fucking ass within the first two minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:22:24):
Yeah, if once he grabs you, that's it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Yes, But if you can move around and make him
have to move.

Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
He doesn't have speed, yes, And guess what those were.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
Five hundred dollars glasses, asshole.

Speaker 3 (01:22:38):
That was a five hundred dollars pair of sunglasses, you asshole.
And guess what when Goro falls down on the cliff
and dies. Goro never landed a strike on Johnny. He
did bawless victory.

Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
Yeah, that was there, it is that was.

Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Yes, Johnny won by flawless victory.

Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
He did, but they never called it.

Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
Goro never landed a strike and he.

Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
Looked at gore Brow and said, this is the part
where you fall down.

Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
His pee wee Herman yelle.

Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
Then we go later on in the night.

Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
Sunglasses are Hey, that was the five hundred dollars per sunglasses.
That's whole I get to hear pee wee Herman saying
that or Jim Carrey. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
This is Then later on that that evening is where
Sonya gets taken in front of Johnny and lu Kang.

Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
This is for me where the movie really picks the
fuck up. I'm so I'm locked in point.

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
It's great at this point, but this is where it
fight fight fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, Like,
let's go and he takes Sonya and Sonya I don't
like the fact that she's playing a victim at this point, like,
I feel like she would have been punching Shang Sung
in the face.

Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
I think it's really cool how that she's dressed like
she's going to shoot a video from or like Rat Poison, Wasp,
Twisted Sister, the Biker Girl. She's the hot the hot chicken,
the in the in the video, she's she's like, oh,
here's let's dress you up like Tawny Katan and and

(01:24:17):
here I go again by White Snake. Yeah, you want
to just like roll on some cars and show your
tits and maybe like a puss flick or something.

Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
Maybe, yeah, just rub yourself and yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
Tommy Lee's gonna have a drum solo behind you. It's fine.
That's what she looks like.

Speaker 2 (01:24:33):
And then Raydon looks at them and they're like, we
gotta go after and Raidy's like, I can't go there.
There it's the other world, Like we can't go there. Yeah,
He's like I can't do that, and they're like, well,
we're gonna go, and he's like, okay, cool, had it
ever You've always had it in you? Lu Kang, like
you just go you got this?

Speaker 3 (01:24:51):
Well, Raydon says, there's there's nothing left I can teach
you you know everything, you know what I know? Yep.
Now it's you're kind of on your own from here,
look my dude.

Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
And then they run, well, Johnny runs to save Sonya
and Lukang is going after Shangsong at this point, and
then like you could see the outline of reptile and
like him following them behind.

Speaker 3 (01:25:19):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
And then we get to the undying lens of whatever
the other world is, yes, the out world, And they
get there and Katana's there and she's walking them through.
She's like, this was my homeland, this was something beautiful
before the Emperor took over and destroyed my ship. And

(01:25:41):
so then like reptile appears and then like joins into
a reptile. You could hear that.

Speaker 3 (01:25:50):
Yeah, honestly, what a song that.

Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
The reptile lu Kang fight music is the best fucking
music of this entire fucking.

Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
The song ends when the fight ends. Yes, that reptile.

Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
I like, Oh I like that fight. I like the
way that they silently threw reptile in there, like every
thirty seconds, reptile, Like I don't know if you heard
it or not, but every thirty seconds they would go
like quietly.

Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
You can hear it me after I've drank twelve beers
and someone wants to bring out a bag. Reptile bo.

Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
Lizard, lizard, lizard, lizard, lizard, lizen.

Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
That the fight between Reptile and Lou Kang, you could.

Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
Tell that they both are skilled, experienced, and this was
choreographed to infection perfection.

Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
It's in every fight scene in every movie. That fight
is in my top three.

Speaker 2 (01:26:59):
Oh, it's so good.

Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
It is great. What a great fight scene? Yes, yes,
and you can hear the every every blow that each
one takes, and it was it was real like they
made it look so realistic.

Speaker 2 (01:27:14):
They might have amplified in in posts in contact, Yeah,
in post for contact, but you knew that they were contact.

Speaker 3 (01:27:23):
The way that the way that they would strike or
block each other, you could feel that.

Speaker 1 (01:27:29):
Ye.

Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
As an audience member, you're like, oh, man, are they
really fighting?

Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
Like is this real? Yes? But you know, because those
two are so skilled in their craft as martial artists,
they know.

Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
How to veil over your face.

Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
Yes, yeah, they really did. That is a flawless fight scene.

Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
And honestly, during this point I have a note that says,
if you didn't get up and fight your sibling or
your cousin during this you're fucking lame.

Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
I felt that way when I was pissed off.

Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
And uh, you know they're skilled and practiced this fight
with this fight because of how fucking intense it was.

Speaker 3 (01:28:08):
Yeah, you could feel, you could definitely feel the emotion
behind the fight. Yep, it was. It's a beautiful it's
a beautiful. Like the choreography was so good.

Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
And then Reptile gets to demolished bicycle kick.

Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
Oh yes, bicycle kick.

Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
Yep, we got to see Luking do one of his
moves from the game bicycle Kick.

Speaker 2 (01:28:32):
Play that they incorporated a lot of the game in
this movie.

Speaker 3 (01:28:36):
Yeah, like a lot of.

Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
The finishing moves, a lot of not even finishing moves,
like just normal references.

Speaker 3 (01:28:43):
Yes, yeah, so good, good loved it.

Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
So after Reptile is destroyed, there's like worms and bugs.

Speaker 3 (01:28:53):
That just like come out, cockroaches and maggots. It's it was.

Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
Worms, cockroach and centipedes.

Speaker 3 (01:29:01):
It was maggots, it was centipedes. It was a slip
Knot album cover that fell out of Reptile's body.

Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
So then we cut to nineteen eighties Tarzan Sonya.

Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
Oh no, she's like she's glam metal. Oh, she's like
she's hair metal.

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Her hair is like, what the fuck did she have
a hair artist?

Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
She's hair meedalist. Fuck.

Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
And then we have the red robes. Yeah, things who
are like walking down the stairs and they're like me
me me, Yeah, and god damn it, lu Kang Shang Sung.
Lu Kang Shang Song like that was probably my second

(01:29:46):
favorite fight, just because I really really enjoyed Lou and
uh Reptile. Yes, Like I felt they went so much harder.

Speaker 3 (01:29:57):
All of lu Kang's fights are the best fights. His
with sub Zero he.

Speaker 2 (01:30:01):
Had four yeah, yeah, and in the room with the
Red Hoods.

Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
The Red Masks sub Zero zero outside of outside of
the tournament itself, because the black guy with the dreads
and Katana Yes, and.

Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
I mean both both of these guys, Shang Song and
lu Kang, at this point, you could tell that they
are pros and they're not fighting. Yeah, they're dancing. Yeah
they're not. Yes, they're landing punches, but they're landing punches
and dancing. Yeah, Like, god damn it. It was beautiful.

Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
It's very good.

Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
Like I'm I loved anything that lu Kang does because
that actor is phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (01:30:57):
Yeah, Robino, Oh he's he's great.

Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
And then here we come to Shang Song cheating with
the sewer henchman where he.

Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
Those well those are souls of warriors, then exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
So he throws the souls of the warriors that he
wants into the sewers to bring them out.

Speaker 3 (01:31:16):
To those are tombs, not sewers.

Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
Well they're sewers to me because they look like sewers.

Speaker 3 (01:31:23):
He didn't summon the ninja turtles.

Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
But how is this fair?

Speaker 3 (01:31:27):
It's Shang Song.

Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
Oh that's true. He likes to cheat.

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
He can do what he wants. He's the boss.

Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
So as Lu Kang is fighting all of the other warriors,
he's beaten their fucking ass, and Shang Song is being
such a little bitch at this point to where he's
I mean, he doesn't he just has the the the

(01:31:52):
the spirits, the souls that he has taken come out
and fight. Maybe it's just because he's just trying to
wear him down to this point and to make him
a weak ass bitch so that he can finish him
at this point. But I also they as Shang Sung

(01:32:16):
jumps to the top, lu Kang is like, okay, cool,
I just beat you your souls that you sent out
to me, your warrior souls. Yeah, and I'm still gonna
run up here and beat your fucking ass. And then
Shang Song changes his face to his brother, and I
think he's trying to get into his head at this point.

Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
Let's talk about that. Okay, let's do a scenario.

Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
Okay, so.

Speaker 3 (01:32:42):
Me and you were fighting. You're Shank Song, I'm Lukang,
or no, I'm Shang Sung, you're Lukank. Your brother jas
is dead, died a long time ago. You know he's dead.
You saw me turn into him. Do you know that
it's him? Do you think it's him? Or do you
know that it's me?

Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Well, at this point, I've already been fighting you for
five minutes and I know that you sucked his soul
into your body, So I me personally, personally me would
be like, hey, that's that's a fight tactic that you're
going to use against me to fuck me up so
that you can fuck me up.

Speaker 3 (01:33:19):
Right, But do you know do you think in your head,
oh my god, it's Jase. I can't fight you. Nope.
The why did lu Kang do that? That's kind of.

Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
Stupid because he has a soft side. Maybe that is
his weakness.

Speaker 3 (01:33:32):
Yeah, that's but he should know. I just watched you
turn into my brother. I know you're Shank Song.

Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
It's his weakness at that point. It's his weakness.

Speaker 3 (01:33:41):
But still it just I don't know. That didn't make
sense to me.

Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
I I feel like they used it as a power move. Yeah,
to make it look to try and weaken lu Kang,
to make him look weak and bring his guard down
so that Shang Sung like guard is up here near
your eyebrows, drop down to your belly button. Oh you're

(01:34:06):
exposed a pal Yeah, kill you.

Speaker 3 (01:34:09):
I don't know. I guess it's whatever they say.

Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
He's the chosen one. And then like I like like
Shang Sung when he gets punched in the face and
bleeds on his lip, He like, that's the only blood
that you ever fucking see in.

Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
This movie beating each other in the face this whole time.

Speaker 2 (01:34:30):
Yeah, yeah, and that's the only blood that you see.

Speaker 3 (01:34:32):
No blood, nobody nobody's.

Speaker 2 (01:34:39):
And then as I like the way that when lu
Kang is punching Sang Shang Song, every time he hits him,
a soul leaves his body, which means that lu Kang
is so powerful and he's fucking punched that he hits. Yeah,
it's just he freese. He frees the soul, which honestly,

(01:35:03):
in my opinion, should power up lu Kang, not not
just taking that soul from him, but releasing that soul.

Speaker 3 (01:35:12):
No, that that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
So I wanted to look this up before the episode,
but we didn't have enough time.

Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
And Shang Song looks at lu Kang and says, save
your pity for the weak? But isn't is that where
they got that from? That metal version of save your
Pity for the week?

Speaker 3 (01:35:34):
Is there a song that says that you don't save
your pity for the week? What's the band?

Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
I don't know, but I'll have to look it up.
You've never heard that on TikTok. Nope, I'm gonna have
to show you, Okay, I'll show you after the episode's over.
If you guys know what I'm talking about. You know
what I'm talking about?

Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
Sure ye.

Speaker 2 (01:35:51):
And then at this point, after he Shang Song turns
back into Shang Sung, luke Kang does not stop punching.

Speaker 3 (01:36:03):
He's just well, yeah, he's he's locked in now. He knows, Yeah,
he knows he's wearing him down. So just he's tiring out,
you're not get in there.

Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
And then he final final move kicks him and he
falls after Shang Song brings up the spikes in the
shape of.

Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
The dragont logo. As Shang Sung is transformed into Chan,
he's distracting him while the spikes are coming out, but.

Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
Then he punches Sang Shang Song into it is the
fireball game, yes, the fireball punch yes. And then as
he falls and gets stabbed, Lou Kang as he's as
Shang Sung's dying, he goes flawless victory and then turns
around and walks away.

Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
You see Shang Song instantly.

Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
He doesn't he doesn't turn a way. So this is
something that I noticed. Lu Kang is looking at Shang
Sung's body stabbed. Did you notice that there was a
tear rolling down.

Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
His cheek on Shang Song.

Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
No, on Lu Kang, there was that, yet there was
a tear rolling down his face.

Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
He avenged his brother's death and.

Speaker 2 (01:37:21):
All of the souls were released at this point.

Speaker 3 (01:37:24):
I like that. You see like as soon as Shang
Sung dies, he immediately like he's decomposing like boom.

Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
Well, that's because he has been kept alive for this
long while.

Speaker 3 (01:37:35):
Yeah, although souls are keeping him up. Yeah, and now
that they've been released, and then lu Kang actually gets
to like say his goodbye at closure with his brother.
I thought that was.

Speaker 2 (01:37:46):
Sweet, and his brother was like, carry on, you'll see
me one day. Just keep going, keep going, and then
we cut to the scene where there are children with ribbons.

Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
And celebration time and then hold on.

Speaker 2 (01:37:59):
Hold on, so I have having a party opening. So
this one is actually the open to the second one. Yes,
the Emperor was going to be amazing the lightning stuff,

(01:38:23):
and then the Emperor is like you pathetic for your
soul exactly, and then everybody thinks, turns around and strikes
the fight pose credits.

Speaker 3 (01:38:42):
And that is how nineteen ninety seven's Mortal Comment Annihilation
starts No.

Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
Seven Annihilation.

Speaker 3 (01:38:49):
Oh God, where Lennon Ashby is not Johnny Cage and
that someone else is.

Speaker 2 (01:38:53):
But we're going to cover that November with Hang tight,
you guys, it's gonna be good.

Speaker 3 (01:38:59):
All right. Well, we have discussed in depth about Moral Kombat.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
It was our favorite. Yeah, like the moments that stuck
out to us.

Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Seen by scene breakdown what do you what are you
being an adult? Like, now, what do you give that movie?

Speaker 2 (01:39:12):
But now on a nostalgic wise, on top of everything else, what's.

Speaker 3 (01:39:18):
Your what's your nostalgic rating? You as a kid? You
was you as a nine year old? How do you
feel about that?

Speaker 2 (01:39:22):
Nostalgic rating would probably be a nine?

Speaker 3 (01:39:26):
What's your thirty nine year old self?

Speaker 2 (01:39:29):
I hate you for that.

Speaker 3 (01:39:31):
They know, I know these people have been to this for.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
Four years myself.

Speaker 3 (01:39:37):
Right now, you're modern day rating nine. You still give
it a nine?

Speaker 2 (01:39:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:39:43):
My uh, you're nostalgic rating oh solid ten, ten out
of ten.

Speaker 2 (01:39:47):
As a kid because you as a kid you like
martial arts in the fighting.

Speaker 3 (01:39:52):
But now a more modern day rating. I I do
understand now that I've seen more movies with martial arts
and special effects like we have now is clearly better reptile.
But the the CGI reptile was not good in this.

Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
No, no, no, reptile was fucking trash.

Speaker 3 (01:40:11):
The some of the I guess the way that the
dialogue was presented, yeah, was it was you know, an eight.
It was a little yeah, it was a little trophy.
But the fight scenes were on point. Scenes made everything though, Yeah,
The set design was cool, but the cast cast was

(01:40:33):
perfect for me. But I think overall, i'm gonna as
a as a modern day rating, I'm gonna probably give it.
I'm gonna go a solid maybe a seven eighty. Would
I watch it again, let's go. If I saw it,
I would be like Mortal Combat that's on here.

Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
I saw that today with not knowing what we knew
about it, Yeah, I would probably give it up six
or seven.

Speaker 3 (01:41:00):
But if I saw like another movie like as I'm
Mortal Combats on here, I'm going to watch that. Oh,
but I want to watch this movie instead, I might
skip over it and go to something else that I
like a little more. So That's that's why my rating is. Yeah,
That's that's why my rating is what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
Good deal, good deal.
