Speaker 1 (00:28):
Welcome to the Great Detectives of Old Time Radio from Boise, Idaho.
This is your host, Adam Graham. In a moment, we're
going to get into this week's episode of the Adventures
of the Falcon. But first I do want to encourage you,
if you're enjoying the podcast, to follow us using your
favorite podcast software. You can support the show on a
(00:52):
one time basis at support dot Great Detectives dot net
and become one of our ongoing Patreon supporters for as
little las two dollars per month by going to Patreon
dot Great Detectives dot net. And I wanted to make
the opportunity to thank Brook for upgrading her membership from
the Shawmas level of four dollars or more per month
(01:15):
to the Master Detective level of seven dollars and fourteen
cents or more per month. Thank you so much for
your support. We're going to go ahead and talk a
little bit about the Falcons return to the air. It
happened in January of nineteen fifty three, and it came
back over the Mutual Network. The star of the program
(01:36):
was George Petrie. Now, mister Petrie was one of those
really solid New York radio acting mainstays, and we featured
a couple of other programs that he started. There was
Call the Police, which we played back in season four,
and I think we also played the other one, which
(01:58):
was John J. Malone. There are more episodes with mister
Petree in the lead than there are with any other
of the actors who played mister Malone, even though it's
a situation where he starred in a seven week summer
replacement series and the others were in the role for
(02:18):
a year and a half two years. But we have
that entire seven week summer replacement series and we have
three episodes with him and Call the Police. But we
probably most heard him most recently playing the role of
Da Markham in Filo Vans. He also starred in a
(02:39):
series where all the episodes are lost. When Sam Spade
went off the air, wild Root cream Oil went ahead
and they sponsored a detective series with a character completely
independent of Sam Spade, who was called Charlie Wilde named
(03:00):
and Patrey was one of the actors to play Charlie
wild Now. As to the relaunch of The Falcon, the
series actually reused the title of several episodes from the
previous run, during which wearing was working in intelligence. The
(03:21):
one thing I will caution in advance is that the
sound quality of these episodes is not great. In fact,
it's a little bit above the level at which I
wouldn't even play it. But I think it is listenable.
But if you do find kind of scratchy recordings hard
to listen to, you may not be able to enjoy
(03:43):
this episode. And I apologize and advance for that. All right,
All that said, though, let's go ahead and take a
listen from June the fifteenth. Not here is the case
of the Treacherous Trio.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Twos on the boat and Mike wor the case of
the Tusculous Trio. There's one thing that I'm working as
a part of the planner is half the bat the
taking points I did with Frank Michael. Mister Markall is
a burly gentleman. We can ordering down the four floor
(04:21):
carda the bel Montre like a great general. He surveys
the terrain if he goes lease on the nickel to
get apart from four as like Canada and his pockets
helping step. There's a second. Yes, I'm looking for Dave
(04:43):
Leonard's Well, it's come to the right place. My name

What's generally the idea? Mary, my ignorant? Find my wallet

Speaker 1 (05:01):
What?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Well isn't there's a stick up set out of that

little high to hot car. Well there's a brand new wrinkle,
says when the burger isn't getting psychoanalysis? This isn't the eyes?

there is my home. Then why did she tell me
you were the boy? Why did who jay? I was?
What for that woman who came to my office? I'm sorry, Marshall,
you lost me at the turn. Can we run through
it again? Maybe I better take it from the beginning.
It's going to be an awful miss monster. You don't
you know a girl about five four and I know
(05:44):
a hundred like that. This one had the Nickels are
al on her put our can't think of a soul?
I'm sure and I'm positive. And why should be playing?
You and my wife are holding hands? Oh? I asked me.
There a lot of screwball names running around loose. Why
should Diffance kick on you? Maybe she didn't? Uh did
it ever? At thirty years and maybe a couple of
other day runs and the Dalma's Eye in New York.
I that if your wife's been running around he I
(06:06):
haven't been running with me, but this woman. I don't
care what they said. I'm not the day n I
you want. If you're a lying fella, I know you're
do a repeat. You're still right. Take care of yourself boy,
for your sake, I hope I won't be seeing you again.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Why no?
Speaker 3 (06:47):
When I didn't see you, I thought maybe something happened.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
What could have happened. I don't know. Maybe you had
a reason. That wasn't a nice thing to do.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Rhythm that wasn't a nice one.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Visit the tentyments ago. It's lucky you weren't wrong.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
I don't understand.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Why did he go to Frank Michael at Basel and
he she played a real stupid on it.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
But there was any doubt in my line that place
with you and Mintial render it can say I did
go to the last Maybe I was wrong. Nice of
you to admit it, but I only did it because
I wasted. It's all I kind of that Roman old

Speaker 2 (07:21):
How could it be so kind?
Speaker 3 (07:23):
I don't you real, nice, what she's doing to you?
Speaker 2 (07:25):

Speaker 2 (07:46):
You can he the first time he suddenly got off.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
I actually got a man named many Supers Los Angeles
or a Jack Howers.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
He's a little student, stupid. If I don't care about Sorry,
where you're going day?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
I said Drudge for second, I'm looking for Michael where
I take it a reason. I don't think I have
to discuss that with you.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
One of it? I mean young you want it?
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Are you the one that calls your falcon?
Speaker 2 (08:36):

Speaker 4 (08:48):
My husband's get the pick?
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Why was this yesterday?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
He hasn't been home all night?
Speaker 2 (08:53):
If you reported a belief? No? Why not? Day is
the killing? If Dick and day By take any drugs? Yeah,
I know something offul has happened.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
I would like to say that because you've never done
anything like this before.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Is there any reason why you should now? No? There
are quite spoiler No, we never clouds. So it's been
an unusual couple. Were they doing anything you shouldn't? How
do you mean that? How do you think of it? Right,
it just seem some good. But there was really nothing
to it with her name, I mean my skins. You
(09:27):
might have run away with her. I tell you it's writing.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Something terrible must have happened to it.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
You seem obsessed with that either. I still tightly to
find him. Sound your fee? You can say, I get
fifty dollars a day. Such expense, I don't care.

are doing?
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Then you see your head and.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Naked to your bay? You know what you do? What
I mean? Do I do something to drive me out
of my mind?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I can't put that as it tips the fruit.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Maybe that would be the the reason of the problem.
How I didn't know it that way. I walked out
on Ruthie last night. But I goes with the one
of your husband. That day, I said a couple of
things I didn't like. You know a man nam rolly
super Nay, No, how about exact problem? Why do that
rupee said you can go with them, and you believe
(11:28):
I don't know what the bullis going to take? Two?
I didn't when you have to hear it two. Sorry, honey,
I didn't mean it that way. Oh, it's no use.
I mean you've got to go away with me. It's
no good this way.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Oh, answer one question?
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Why are we living? What do we live on?
Speaker 3 (11:48):
You don't think they continue?
Speaker 2 (11:50):
You will make it up. That's not said that.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
You got to have some money before.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
We just think the day and I don't know how
much it would need. But to the fact that you're crazy.
Were when I get that kind of.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Thing we've seen that, didn't you tell me to see
why that serious flop i'nfind not mistaken or the benefitting
you are crazy?
Speaker 2 (12:11):
They look like that.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
Ask it out or make it look like a whole
lot of Maybe it's just consisting in the world.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Or no, oh, I didn't want to do yourself. Be
actually and suppose you're a.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Particular work or no, not that take them to But
what you for doing me only pactical? Let me think
about it.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I don't just but are not another wadly? But enough
for one night and let's just relax and do not
(12:54):
you Yeah, that's a minute while.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
It's like you n looks like you don't care. But
I now where if you don't get out of what
they think what you're going to do. I think I've
got to go in here because you are what I
please put on that phone.
Speaker 3 (13:14):

money after we're not it's my bass right here on
the table when I'm.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Must there's really not feel as much now we're just
kind of Look there's one little store you'll gotta do.
No see fe pretty yeah at that point in a moment,
(14:02):
we'll return to the adventures of the Polcon. Now that
to the adventures of the Folcon. Well, like the man's sad,
that's life for you the first time who was Arlie
Manco's murder was some eight hours later. I was grabbing
a fight at Eddie. He's a little diner in your headquarters.
(14:23):
When starting carpet walking speaking of murder, that was enough
to kill my appetite. Well, well it is in the fast.
How you doing, toll Yeah? Speak and am I going in?
We're doing it? Good to say? No, help, help already.
Let me had a hand on that with a little
a one star and a cup of coffees. Alight, Travig,
(14:44):
what's on your mind? Okay? A fella get dropped right?
Or a sandwich without be getting suspicious? Not if you're
the fellas you were twenty Why that's curious? You're never
just curious. If he asked you to do a job
for end Yeah, yes, who wanted me to locate in hers?
And then you know the service I give my clients,
Well maybe you can give it a little more. Come again,
(15:07):
you mentioned anything about a woman named Arlene Marshall. Yeah, yes,
you thought this, I'll leaven her husband. What's going on?
Well they won't anymore. What are you babbling about? Arlene
Marshall with murdered this morning? And you think Ruth Lennard
did it? You know how your mind Luther isn't capable
of murderer to talk to the woman out of five minutes.
And already you know everything about it already, I know
(15:27):
what you got it at at headquarters? And what are
we doing? Hey? What about my fan? It'll keep You're
not gonna put on my feet, right will? Ruth? Leonard's
eating your heart ups.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
That's the leading instagram. I didn't kill Allen.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
I never even met it, but your husband did. I
don't average seven nights a week. I don't believe it.
I suppose you didn't kip off, mister marcall. I do
think maybe you also would break your neck and say
you're the trouble. I let Ruth. I'm gonna help you
out there to know the truth. IL go to her husband. Yes,
why I was almost stuck. I thought maybe he was
(16:12):
fighting gable Way. Whatever they can.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Think to me had the wrong name.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
You're a baby, must be quite a boy. It was
all my fault.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
By Hurry was just wonderful husband, many a kids.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
I don't know how she got to its good anyway,
baby should know, and maybe you'll be willing to tell me.
I thought you're gonna ask be sure you won't go anywhere,
and I might guess break and you're not watching. If
(16:47):
you don't mind, Miss Lena, I'll break my boxer and
the information space. So and you want me to tell
you about Ireland, That's what I want you to tell me.
Where would you like me to begin? In the customary place?
I believe, I bet you're up one. I don't know,
I said either. It wasn't like that at all, But
I wasn't like, I can't subscribe it. But at the
time it seemed like the most natural thing. We was
(17:09):
kind of like, I didn't think you'd understand, and that said, No,
I want That's what I'm trying to do. Win. That's
how I want to find out. It was just possible
for her letter, I like, he con think to your
wife said low, not the idiot. You got me other nomination. No,
I'm let's get back alien. Someone hated her enough to
kill her. I know it's hot, tot. No, I can
understand that he was no good. If I told you
(17:32):
some of the things he said, why does it all right?
He wanted me to kill my wife? Ah, you heard me?
You know something? And he outlines a plot. It seemed
all pretty logically. Yeah, yet you were in love with her,
I said, why can anybody ever give a reason? All
(17:54):
I know is that when I got there and nothing
else mattered, I've given up everything before. I wanted to
go ahead with his plots to murder roots. You want to,
Mama said, I was thinking it of him. It was
nice for you to do that. Well, I'm a real
sweet kid. I to, Uh, you'll never give me credit
for one thing. At least I'm on him, or you
(18:15):
never knew what I feel Marie. No, if he didn't,
well why do we go from here? I don't know
about you. When I walk to see Frank mirchall take
care of yourself day, which I had tied to Michael
(18:45):
my name was where I sat that he should be
a generally of a very bad memory of pa. I get.
I'm just lucky and I can move, so I won't
take much of your time. I don't think you'll take
any who I told you I knew who murdered your wife.
Maybe you better than that. I don't want about as
(19:06):
quite a ray out.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
I like this.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
I can't understand why it was just yeah, I mean
pure in the channel, Yeah, who took it? But there
must be a reason for all these questions. While I
am met it, he doesn't look anything like I imagine
anybody where I picus God and the culture. You know,
real from Fata style said, he looks like she might
have prayed Peter pad or what does that gro Maybe
(19:28):
it takes all times to make the world. Just what
are you look you're wearing? That's very simple. I'm working
for Ruth Leonard. So Ruth Lennard. The girl was fifty
off that out and was running around with her husbands.
What are you reading the breast? It wasn't very smart,
but I grant you the thanks. He was level. How
you know the day's just another guy to your wife
was great. I don't even to look at another man.
Was kidding. Oh, you never look anybody but me, believe
(19:48):
no for a fact. That tho itself, I meant nothing.
You said you look like Peter. Oh that's what you was.
You never grew up all that running around. I remember
having a good clean spot to get out for you. Listen,
So I know you were crazy about the girl, but
they were the idea. Oh I'm real clever. I'm sure
with my living under your own stream, I don't oh
(20:21):
that's oh wait a minute, Yeah, you remember I was
really WinCE before. What do you want, Michael? Last time
I thought I made a mistake. Now I know better
than for you. You're pretty convincing to did you did
you really hadn't believing you didn't know? I mean well,
and a lot of ways I didn't think you and
you were. I was married to a very you. You
(20:42):
didn't manage over seven and it's still be a friend that,
don't you see? Who's got up better? Right? We never
love you? Maybe not? But I loved her, and I
didn't you say those things. That's true. You kidded yourself.
I never did. I'm using it all wrong all the
minute I met her. But I didn't make any chimneys.
You had it told me, and I was that who
killed her was your game. You're the guy who knew
(21:04):
we were going away together and the life. He never
would have gone through with it, but it was lowly too.
Where he's got called or no books y. You got
a lot coming on you, boy, and I'm gonna see
that you get at all well, where there in the
(21:31):
wind and only pass here's that, here's the phone, dumb.
I got a flash for you so now aren't gonna
face your call very final firs whose Leonards sixty day
we'll get ready to release her. She didn't kill out
of markles, but then her dead. I'm not prepared to
say yet. We're not prepared to say, well, when you're gon,
we expect the stems at the wedding. I don't know
(21:51):
the fire through channels. But in the mean time, ifire
were you are opposed to God around Frank Marshalls, why
my Fami is my guest. He's liable to get a
visit from days Leonards and this day we ever get
to him, there won't be much lesser than to protection.
If you hear that prediction, they your stationing. But it
watch out you didn't happen. Only and exactly are particular
the way you called us. Don't tell me, Marshall beat up.
(22:12):
Let it all right, I won't tell you. But anytime
you feel like stepping mife, let me do your booker.
I could retire overnight. In just a moment, you'll return
to the adventures of the Fulton, and now that to
(22:33):
the adventures of the Fulton. Well where a better again?
Without even trying here, I had all figured out the
day letting we're going to do a job on playing
market when I have to play completely. What made me
feel worse was that I looked back on a size
(22:54):
and corbet that was no novel. I say one thing
for your mic. You may not have any, but she
certainly had no brand. Look start and I readers in
the side of a man objected there with that. Finally
out it was nine armies. But oh, I found that
at a wrong time ago I tell you it wasn't
Ruth letter. Why not? Because it was out of cast?
What the tire of private attack? I look compet you're
thinking that this in terms of old fashions? Who's running?
(23:15):
That's three? So why why is that? In the final analogy,
there's all these things come down to the motives. Now
what makes the person water commits parton an ilans plan
to faced off with Ruth's husband by who is no motive?
For sure? It is about a stronger one. I mean,
I've seen a Chris cut on the surface. But if
you dig a little and see what really makes people
check that in Oh, I don't prove it is that's
(23:38):
weirdsday co I thought you were high setter. It's a
very Frank Marshal over there foot for I'll show you
when we get all really much take me for the
complete video. Yeah, but I love you to get your saying.
I like jump off. I'm sure you feel up to
(24:03):
this day. You can always come back. No, no, no,
that's all. I don't mind. I'd like to tell the
judge a little plot. Arlen dreams up to your wife,
so we have to go through that. He believe me,
we do. Who wanted them the killer? Why? I don't
believe the chudge? I just seep out of this much
so I see him more days. Well, I told Arlen
want for who's got a policy with twenty five thousand dollars?
(24:24):
I must have given her the idea. No, good, good feller.
He did enough stammage for one day, I'll say he did.
You want to sign that complaints nowadays? What do you mean?
Complaints for the sault battery against Frank here? No, no,
I'll take care of him my own way. It's gonna
be awful, tough to manage for thinking. I don't think
(24:44):
I understand him life, see you do. I don't know
what Len had for you boys, but in your case
days it was murdered all my canker, you're ready. I
(25:08):
know it was pretty is sargeant? He picked up that
gune one day he sent her to the job. Yeah.
His name is Jimmy Hamilton. And what's the problem. I
want to know how use pet day? And the guy
who hired it? I told you he had the best
moody hair. I still don't see had.
Speaker 6 (25:22):
I wonder about Arlene Teuchlan. Frank would never hurt her
far as arn was concerned. He had a flying spot.
He thought she was the greatest thing in the world.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Courted. He knew he was running around. He always made
excuses for him. But what about days?
Speaker 6 (25:36):
Well, Dave was the boy with his eyes wide open.
He you Arlen was an MP type game, especially after
she suggested killing his wife.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
But he couldn't help himself. The only way he could
figure to get her out of his custom was to
kill it. I did exactly a.
Speaker 6 (25:50):
Little draft had come to think, well, Len had a
hole run her, but nothing could break except death.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
So that's what he gave her. He must have been
quite a gap. Yeah, like that, what happened to her?
I don't know what? They thought to be a great
time to find out.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Welcome back, I did talk about the sound quality in advance.
Again not the best uh, not the best quality. It
was recorded off of air, but not by me, I
should say. But I could still follow the story, and
I did appreciate the solution and the symbol logic of
it that the guy who concluded that the murder victim
(26:40):
was no good killed her. There's a logic to it.
I mean, it's messed up, don't get me wrong. I
mean the whole argument of this woman is horrible. So
either I'm going to kill her or run away with her. Yeah,
but I don't know what you would expect from this
group of suspects. Also, we got a key admission from
(27:03):
the Falcon that not even he knows why he's called
the Falcon, and truth be told, I don't think even
Exel Drake knew why he chose to call the Falcon
the Falcon. Now it's time to thank our Patreon supporter
