This is Luke brown.
This is Jeff Barrett.

Unknown (00:59):
This is Tessa fasten, and

Matthew Weitzel (01:01):
you're listening to the GSE podcast.
All right, I'm with Max Gosneyfrom GHI. And we're here today
to talk about GSE Expo Europeand a new podcast that is coming
to guessing all channels. Max,fill us in on what's going on
over there. Hello,

Max Gosney (01:21):
Matt. Thank you very much having me back again.
Returning to the show. Brilliantto speak to you once again.
Yeah, we're really excited aboutwe're developing a special in
your honor. And in yourfootsteps, the GSE Expo Europe
podcast. So we we aim to previewthe show activity what's going
on at the event that's coming upvery soon, two months time in
Lisbon, speak some of the mainOEM manufacturers and exhibitors

(01:44):
about their plans for the showand also get our teeth in some
of the big themes we're hopingto tackle at the show and as an
industry. So issues likeelectrification of the apron,
we're looking at autonomousvehicles automation, and its
Advent in the sector and safetydevices innovation in GSE. And
as this seems like the perfectforum to garner the expertise of

(02:06):
some leading lights in thesector, and tell those visitors
about why they should make theeffort to be there. And there's
been in two months time. Yeah,

Matthew Weitzel (02:13):
yeah, man, it's coming up really quickly. And,
you know, I'm glad that I willbe there. So I'll be I'll be
there with you. And you can kindof show me around and show me
what's going on over there.

Max Gosney (02:24):
Well, after obviously looking forward to
hosting you returning the favorafter after catching up with you
at the ghci in Toronto, nearerto your home shores just last
month. So yeah, it'd be great tohave you there, the XD team
there and give you a tour of thefloor, show some of the big
features that we built into theevent, which are areas like the
demo zone, we're gonna haveequipment displays, and we'll
have an Innovation Zone, whichwill profile some of the big

(02:47):
development areas for the GSEsector. So looking at some of
those areas I mentioned earlier, like autonomous vehicles,
looking at the rise of thingslike telematics digitization,
and what it will mean for fleetstrategies. Yeah,

Matthew Weitzel (03:01):
that sounds amazing. And so who's going to
be hosting this podcast thatyou're going to be doing this
GSE Expo podcast?

Max Gosney (03:08):
Well, unfortunately, for listeners, I'm, I'm half the
team. So you're okay with me.
But I'm joined by our marketingmanager, Sophie Skinner, Jones,
who many of the listeners, thoseare familiar to our shows, or
know very well. So Sophie and Iare co hosting. And we just hit
the studio earlier this week torecord some of the initial
episodes. And like, you know, only too well, we've now got the
arduous process of editing thatcontent, sharpening everything

(03:30):
up and hoping to release in thenext couple of weeks.

Matthew Weitzel (03:34):
So what is the format look like? So it's you
and Sophie and then are youinterviewing people are like,
what does that look like?
Absolutely.

Max Gosney (03:40):
Yeah. So So our plan is and what we're looking to do
is interview a lineup ofpanelists each week. So a couple
of leading protagonists in theGSE community, and major
supporters of the show, particularly drawing on our
friends, their IEMA, some of theboard members, and then theming
each episode around, I guess, our guests expertise or their
company area. So this we've beenchatting to a few different

(04:03):
groups. We're starting off withJim Mazzi and Andreas funk, who
are both ima board members atKobus and aviation ground
equipment. And we had aninteresting chat with them about
the kind of electricelectrification hydrogen and its
importance as differentsustainable fuel type suggests
in the future, alongside sharingsome more embarrassing memories
of exhibitions gone by trying tokeep it a little bit light

(04:26):
hearted as well as tackling theserious stuff. We also spoke to
oh no McKenna, they're at Milan.
Earlier in the week, long sides.
Yeah, yeah. scene and Sebastianat Charlotte. And that one was
looking at autonomous vehiclesand a Charlotte team are
actually bringing the 80 135sort of demo at the show,
showing them customers, youknow, some of the driverless

(04:47):
technology, which can be reallyexciting. So we're talking about
that and the and theopportunities that would open up
and when we might see atairports because, as the guys
were saying on the pod some ofthis, some of the technology
aspects have been around maybeFive, five years or more, but
it's, it's about how we refinethem and then roll things out on
the ramp with the approval ofregulators. And then finally, we

(05:09):
talked to the guys ITW GSE, toHeller and Rouen. And that and
that one was looking again atthe kind of electric GSE. And
its preeminence and fascinatingto hear from them that electric
sales in the last two years Ithink, since COVID have have
eclipsed all sales prior to therun up to to the pandemic for
them. So just shows you how hotthe electric equipment market is

(05:30):
right now. But But where's theinfrastructure as we as well?
Yeah,

Matthew Weitzel (05:34):
we covered that who covered that in like, that's
an upcoming episode. Soeverybody has to look out for
our electrification panel, editing that right now, along
with a gh, America's recap show.
So that'll be a lot of fun forlisteners. But Max kind of tell
me about just a little bit howit differs GSE Expo differs from
the ones in in the United Statesin Las Vegas, usually. Yeah,

Max Gosney (05:58):
so I guess there's almost sister shows in that
they're both IEMA exhibitionsorganized that the team in
endeavor, or their event partnerover in the US and we act as the
event, exclusive event partnerfor Jesse Expo Europe here. So I
suppose there's thesimilarities, they are a forum
for where leading OEMmanufacturers can come together

(06:19):
bring the audience withdemonstrate the latest GSE
innovations. And we were askedcoming out of COVID by that by
some of those leadingmanufacturers to develop a
European focused or hosted show, which I guess we would kind of
build on some of the strengthsof that Vegas event providing a
forum for customers to come andsee innovative equipment. And

(06:41):
you know, try and throw in somenew innovation so areas like
that Innovation Zone corner, thedemo zones, a key component
where you can hide a cup publicfacing or visitor facing sorry,
displays of equipment and, andwe can use those to drive more
attendance from from groundhandlers and airlines and
airports who who want to comeand see some of the latest
equipment, I suppose you wouldsay that they better almost

(07:02):
sibling shows. Yeah. Globalinfocus. But once hosted in Las
Vegas, oh, when is hosted? Orwas in Europe? It was in Paris
two years ago. It's now inLisbon for the second iteration.

Matthew Weitzel (07:12):
Yeah, it's gonna be great. So Max, do you
have any numbers you can sharewith us like as far as
attendance numbers or number ofexhibitors, or any kind of like
high level numbers that thatyou're willing to share? As far
as you know, the audience knowshow big this shows is going to
be?

Max Gosney (07:26):
Very good question that and half the press, just
looking out on one of ourwhiteboards out there across the
office from me now. But thecurrent registration, the pre
reg figures, just at 12 150. So1250, pre Reg, and that's
tracking about 250, up on thestage in 2022, targeting prereqs
number of somewhere north of4000 are looking to get sort of

(07:49):
three and a half 1000 Pluscustomers to attend and visit.
And that's a growth on Pariswhere we had, we had so three
and a half 1000 attendees, we'retrying to, say upwards of 4000
to attend this year and the waythat the numbers are tracking,
we've got every confidence thatwe can do that. And it has now
established itself as a brandand event in the market and look

(08:10):
two years on from where we werein 2022. There are there are no
other COVID restrictions for theAsia market. So we really want
to get those visitors in fromSoutheast Asia to come and see
the equipment to so that'slooking really strong. We're up
on exhibit a numbers. So 160Plus, currently, there are a
couple of remainingopportunities but no sales pitch

(08:30):
here. Any manufacturers who dowant to attend are interested in
attending, really do advise youto get your inquiries in very
soon. Because we do have tosubmit a final floor plan to our
venue the Fill soon. And wecan't open the door. Keep the
door open forever. So hopefullywe get a few more on top of that
number. And yeah, it's in termsof square footage. We're also up
on the plot that we had inParis, which is great. So we've

(08:52):
seen some real growth in theevent. terrific to see both in
terms of exhibitor numbers, total number of square meters
taken up in space, andcrucially, we want to see more
visitors there. And we'reconfident we could do that.
Yeah.

Matthew Weitzel (09:04):
And I think last time I was talking to
George, the outdoor space wasfilled, I think. Yeah, yeah. And
then space still available. Isthat correct? Okay, that's

Max Gosney (09:15):
right, we, we have now sort of put the sold out
sign over the outdoor space, theSony square area, that's done,
but we do have a little bit ofremaining space indoors. And
it's looking like a really fullhall. I mean, we it will be the
indoor space will besignificantly bigger and more
exhibitors than than we saw inParis and the outdoor area
replicates the scale of theevent there at the Bouygues. So

(09:38):
yeah, it's great to see and lookthank you to all the people and
the exhibitors who've back towho are coming in and supporting
us and helping develop thisevent, which is we're discussing
on the show, he is guided by Hismotto, which is by the community
for the GSE community. So youknow the strength of numbers is
great to see and we just want topull in as many potential G's SC

(10:00):
operators, maintenance teamsbuyers at airports as possible
to give the most value to thatevent in a couple of months.
Yeah,

Matthew Weitzel (10:06):
I'm really excited about it. I think I
can't wait for the demo zone.
And the innovation. Yeah, that'sgonna be really cool. So I'll go
and test out some new equipmentwhile I'm there.

Max Gosney (10:15):
Absolutely. I'm looking forward, Matt, to
turning the tables on you onbeing in that chair in the
podcast when we invite you toappear as a guest. Yeah, you're
a podcast. Yeah. So I get to askthe questions. make you squirm
next time around, we're reallylooking forward

Matthew Weitzel (10:29):
to exactly yeah, you're always here for the
hard hitting questions, and I'mafraid they're gonna get turned
on me. But yeah, that'd bereally exciting. So we'll record
that in a couple of weeks. Andeverybody can look out for that.
So last, but not least, wherecan people find the podcast? Is
it going to be on all the majorplatforms? Yes.

Max Gosney (10:47):
So what we'll do is we'll have a link to it both on
the GSE Expo Europe website,we'll be distributing it via or
E marketing via LinkedIn, justjust directing people with a
link through to download it, andhave a listen. So you'll be
hearing from the GSI team. Andwe'll be making it as
straightforward as possible toclick and download and listen

(11:08):
and subscribe. And, yeah, as Isay, so you've already set the
standard Matt, and created anincredible forum was with the
GSE podcast. And it's great tohave your support and really
appreciate it. And if we can doif we can emulate you in any
way, it will be a greatachievement. And thank you so
much for your support andhelping blaze a trail with the

(11:29):
podcast and saying thank you,

Matthew Weitzel (11:31):
oh, no problem, man. And I just hope that my
listeners go and check that out.
So they can kind of learn moreabout GSE Expo Europe and all
the new and fun and excitingthings that you're going to be
doing over there. And you know,it's just a lot of fun to you
got that long flight, maybepotentially, from where you're
coming from, and you can listento all those podcasts on the way
over to Portugal and really justkind of get ready for the show

(11:54):
and find out and you said whatyou don't land and in wonder
what you can do at that show?
You'll you'll already know.

Max Gosney (12:01):
Yeah. And I think it's a fact that you get these
big competitors really that areprepared to come together and CO
locate workers, you know, for agreat cause. As inspirational
isn't as great to see and knowmany other markets, I guess
would be would act in that wayand be that selfless. So so it's
a great endorsement, I think onthe GSE world that that you get
these investors doing this kindof event and working to bring

(12:23):
customers in and tackle some ofthese big challenges that we
we've got as an aviationcommunity. Yeah, I

Matthew Weitzel (12:29):
completely agree. And we actually cover
that a little bit on our recapshow of the GH Americas. So
people have to listen to that.
And we talk a lot about thatkind of community, just like you
were talking about earlier.
Anyway, so it's gonna be it'sgonna be a ton of fun. And we're
looking forward to it. And I'mglad that glad you're doing the
podcast and everybody go andcheck it out. And I think should

(12:51):
they rate it five stars is thatit shouldn't be five. Why didn't
you

Max Gosney (12:55):
tell me as a trick to create a 10 star rating? You
have to show me the code.

Matthew Weitzel (13:01):
The cheat codes? No, yeah. But make sure
you go in you listen, and youwrite it Rated five stars. And
then while you're at it, youknow, you might as well go on to
the GSE podcast, right that fivestars as well. I mean, just
because you're already there.
You know what I mean? It's, youknow, eight or 10. You know if
you can find 10 do 10. Soanyway, well, Max, thank you so
much.

Max Gosney (13:20):
Thank you, Matt, and looking forward to having you on
the show and working together.
Thank you. Yeah,

Matthew Weitzel (13:25):
