Lisa (00:05):
Today I am going to be talking about Chakra Dance.
So I learned about Chakra Dancefrom a fellow groove facilitator
who has taught it.
I do hope to have her on thepodcast but our schedules
haven't coordinated yet.
So I thought I would just do alittle overview of what Chakra

(00:27):
Dance is in case you want tocheck it out and give it a try.
So it was developed by a womanin Australia.
Her name is Natalie Southgateand I'm actually going to play a
little clip of her speaking anddescribing a chakra dance.
So take a listen.

(01:38):
So I, I really love what shesays on her book summary, which
is called Chakra Dance, MoveYour Chakras, Change Your Life.
It says, if you like the idea ofyoga, but not the challenging
poses, Chakra Dance is for you.
If you like the idea ofmeditation, but find it hard to

(01:59):
sit still for more than a fewminutes, Chakra Dance is for
you.
If you know you've got oldbaggage to release, but find
talking therapy too awkward forwords, Chakra Dance is for you.
So, thousands of years ofEastern medicine talks about

(02:21):
chakras, and they are thepowerhouse energy centers of the
aura.
There are seven major chakrasthat run up the spine, and they
allow the energy to flow in andout of our aura.

(02:41):
So, when the chakras areflowing.
and open then we do feel goodand life is good.
But if the energy in one of thechakras is blocked then often we
will have physical and emotionalchallenges.
So each chakra corresponds todifferent organs and influences

(03:05):
different aspects of our livesfrom how we love to how we use
our intuition.
When we bring energy and flow tothe chakras, we are bringing
health and healing to all thoseareas of our lives.
So as I mentioned, the chakradance focuses on the seven

(03:28):
energy centers of the body.
She combines Hindu teachingswith Jungian theory.
And in the chakra dance, themusic plays a very important
role.
She has a full time musician whohelps to create music that

(03:48):
specifically resonates with eachchakra.
It's a healing practice.
leading to an inner dance ofrelease and reconnection.
So it is done in a dimly lit ordark room.
I guess sometimes peopleactually even wear blindfolds
because it's a very internalprocess and people describe it

(04:12):
as feeling like they're cominghome, coming home to their, to
their bodies and their beings.
and she says that with the musicshe combines science and magic
because each chakra does hold adifferent vibration and so the

(04:33):
music is created to vibrate tothat particular chakra but
there's also an intuitive sideto the music.
which is about the mood and thefeel of each chakra and if
you've studied chakras at all,you know also that there are
different colors that areassociated with the chakras.

(04:55):
For example, green is for theheart chakra and purple is for
the crown chakra, I believe.
So She really wants you, as Isaid before, you, do it in a
darkened room because she wantsyou to have a full surrender
into the music.

(05:15):
And there is some sort ofcreative suggestions as you're
dancing each chakra.
People sometimes describe it asan awakened dream where they may
see images, memories, feelings, emotions, and even physical
sensations.

(05:35):
In terms of the structure of theclass, I did see that there was
a person in Canada that wasoffering a 90 minute class with
the focus on just one chakra.
So one week she was doing theheart chakra and the next week
she was doing the throat chakra.
I've also read that some peoplehave taken a class that runs

(05:58):
about three hours.
So I would imagine that wouldmaybe include all of the
chakras.
And I believe if you do thatone, then you end the class with
a mandala art piece.
And actually I saw a video onYouTube.
It's a short class and the endwas people creating artwork on

(06:22):
the floor.
So that might have been what shewas referring to.
And there's also groupdiscussion and feedback.
So if you're interested intrying it out, as I mentioned,
she does have a book and thebook includes links to
downloadable chakra specificmusic tracks and guided

(06:44):
meditations so that you can tryit yourself.
There is an audio program youcan download, which has
meditations, and then there isalso a video version that you
can download.
It looks like it's the sameprogram.
I'm not exactly sure, but it'scalled the same thing.

(07:08):
It looks just like one's in anaudio format.
She does have a fairly intensiveprogram that is available online
that you can download, whichgoes through each of the chakras
day by day.
So The first section is focusedon the root chakra, which is

(07:30):
about safety.
And so that one is aboutreconnecting with the wisdom of
the body and trusting ourinstincts.
The second one is the sacralchakra, which is all about
creativity and pleasure.
So that focuses on reignitingyour passion and embracing your
sacred feminine energy.

(07:53):
The third one is the solarplexus, which is focused on self
esteem and confidence.
So that one is about reclaimingpersonal power and embodying
sacred masculine energy.
Then we have the heart chakra, which is about relieving hurts
in the heart and opening up toforgiveness, compassion, and

(08:15):
love.
There's the Throat Chakra next, which is all about
communication.
So this one is aboutrediscovering your creative
expression and finding yourauthentic voice.
Then there's the Third EyeChakra, which is all about
intuition and imagination.
So this is a focus onreawakening your intuition and

(08:37):
imagination and gainingheightened insight into life.
And finally, there's the CrownChakra, which is about awareness
and intention.
So this is about rememberingyour spiritual connection and
finding sacredness in your life.
I did look kind of at the searchfor teachers.

(09:01):
It seemed like in the U.
S., where I'm based, most of theinstructors are in New York, New
Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
It is worldwide, so if you'resomewhere else, you can get on
her webpage, which ischakradance.
com and I'll have a link in theshow notes and she has a, find a

(09:23):
teacher tab that you can lookfor.
And then I couldn't really findtoo many virtual classes, like
Zoom classes which was a bitsurprising but as I said as
well, there, there are somesamples on YouTube that you can

(09:44):
check out if you just GoogleChakra Dance.
And then she does have anupcoming workshop, which is on
November.
14th at 1 p.
m pacific standard time and thatone is going to be a goddess
ritual for opening the flow ofabundance.

(10:08):
And that's is seven U.
S dollars I believe.
So if you're interested in thatyou can check that out and sign
up on her.
So lastly, I just wanted to reada few of the testimonials that
people had written about herprogram and how they had

(10:29):
impacted their lives.
And it feels like people reallyhad quite a deep experience with
it.
Also, I guess it's beenpresented at Deepak Chopra's
center called the Chopra Center.
Maureen said this has been auniquely divine experience that

(10:53):
has definitely shifted me inunexpected ways.
Angela said chakra dance hastruly reignited my joy in life.
Anthea says chakra dance hasbeen one of the most powerful,
profound, and life changingexperiences of my life.
Let's see if I can get just onemore, and Joyce has said chakra

(11:16):
dance has changed my spiritualDNA.
So if you are interested inexploring your emotional life,
This sounds like a really greatway to access it through the
music and the movement.
If you're interested in teachingit, she does also have teacher
training and that information isavailable on her website.

(11:40):
I am looking forward to trying afull class.
Hopefully I can do that sometimehere in the near future, but
Chakra Dance, what yourexperience was.
And as always, if you haveany...
