heart Well special guest in studio TerryFisher, who is the senior vice president
of Spring Garden Lending. Good morning, sir, Thank you for coming in.
Good morning, John, thank youfor having us. All Right,
briefly, tell me exactly what SpringGarden Lending is all about, because we're
going to talk about a few differentthings here this morning. Yes, yes,

so spring Guarden Lending. We're aprivate investment real estate company that specializes
in expeculative lending for investment real estatefor buy and flip, buy and hold.
Also thirty of your fixed mortgages forthose who complete their product. But
that's not all you do. No, that's not all I do. I'm
also a local track and field coach, been running a club called Stallion's Youth

Track Club for about twenty two years. And I'm here today to introduce one
of our national collob or athletes,Colden Dean, just to give him a
chance to talk a little bit aboutsome of his accomplishments would have been amazing.
Colton, good morning, How areyou. I'm good, How are
you all right? So tell meexactly what I need to know about Colton.
Well, we'll start with he's anawesome kid. He came to our
program really when he was eleven ortwelve years old. He's been running for

US ever since and since then,he's just had some amazing accomplishments locally regentally.
But would I like to get himsome exposure for is what he's done
on a national level. He's eleventime All American, He's a four time
national champion, just recently won thenational championships in Oregon last year as at
the cathlete in the sixteen fifteen sixteenyear old age group. Two years before

that he was the pentathlon national championin the fourteen thirteen fourteen year old age
group. So he's been having aphenomenal career and just want to highlight things
that he's done on particularly on anational level. All Right, So what's
your personal highlights? I would definitelysay just competing on that level, being
around like those type of athletes.It's just like, especially in Oregon,
like the track that we were competingat, like national like the Olympics are

held there, Like the biggest athletesin the world compete there. So it's
like amazing to be able to competein those type of places. And is
the Olympics you're aspirations? Yeah,definitely twenty twenty eight in Las, it's
my goal to compete there. Whatdoes it take to be on an Olympic
athlete? I have no idea.Well, it takes a lot of commitment
for number one, and of courseGod given talent and then a tremendous work

ethic, all of which that hehas. He's just done a phenomenal job,
continue to get better and better yearin a year out. What grade
are you in, I'm a juniorin high school, junior. And what's
your day? Like? What's yourday to day? I would say on
a normal training day, like saya Monday like today, I'll normally I'll
go to school and then when Iget home, we have our indoor track
practice like for the school, SoI'll come home, eat, go to

that practice, and then after thatI'll normally go to the gym, lift,
go home, then stretch and goto bed normally. Or do you
do any other sports? No,I just do track. You're just focused
on Yeah, yeah, So howdid you find each other? Well,
they were competing on our there's ayouth local track circuit that's run by three
Association for the US at F andthey were competing as as independent and I

met the mom and dad at along jump because he was beating on a
couple of my kids, and Ijust introduced myself and then we've kind of
just had an amazing relationship from theirmom is an inquisitive type, so she
asked a thousand questions and we foundone another. So and he also has
a twin sister who is equally avery very talented athlete. So we got

(03:29):
a two for one type of deal. And all right, so where does
he go to school? So Coltonis he's currently a junior at at Kennanmac
High School, but he also runsfor our track club in the summer.
And some of his accomplishments as he'swon the pentathlon as a fourteen year old
national champion and the tathlon national championand one hundred meter hurdles at a fourteen

year old, and then recently asa fifteen sixteen year old. Sixteen year
old, he won the Junior OlympicsNational champions as the cathletes and he had
the highest score in the country,so it was accomplishment and he has aspirations
for the Olympics. Just a fewminutes ago, Terry was talking about you
have a twin sister. Yeah,okay, are you friends? Are you

sibling rivalry? How does that work? Yeah, it's good. We have
a good relationship. It's the bestthing about it is it always always No,
definitely not the majority of the time. It's good. But it's just
someone that I can train with.Like again, on the days that we
don't have track practice for the school, like me and her will go to
the track train together and it's justlike good to have someone there. And
what is her name? She's BryceBrystein? All right, So how how

(04:33):
good is Colton and Bryce? They'rethey're phenomenal. Colton is obviously tremendous,
but Bryce is in our own rightas well, particularly when she wants to
do it. She does a heckof a job. Currently ranked six in
the States in the hurdles for indoortrack and field, so she's a pretty
accomplished young athlete herself. What doesit take to be a champion, to
be that good, It's a lot. It's just like all that extra work

(04:55):
you have to put in and notjust the school stuff, like you got
to go out on your own.You have to push yourself and if you're
not doing that, you're not gonnamake it to that level you Is it
something that you do early in themorning before school? Yeah, normally,
like not all days because sometimes Ijust can't get up, honestly, but
get up at Yeah, but normallylike get up at like five and lift

(05:15):
because if I have to go tothe track at the end of the day,
then I'm not gonna have that energy. So I need to get up
early, get that lifting in,then go to school, use that school
as my rest, and then goto the track after school. What's your
strength? What? What? What? What kind of competition? What is
your favorite? What's what's I thinklike? Definitely is competing under pressure.
The times I've always done the bestis one I'm under a lot of pressure,

(05:38):
and I think that's what helps.What's your favorite event? Probably long
jump because it's just like I'm neverI've never been nervous for it. It's
just really just run as fast asyou can and jump into sand. What's
your least favorite event? Mm?The mile? And is that something you
are conscious of and you have towork on? Yeah, definitely. It's
I mean, I'm not terrible atit, but it's definitely something I need

(05:58):
to work on. I just don'tlike running long long distance. When how
early of a day, like duringthe week, what time do you normally
get up to work out? Iwould say if I'm getting up to lift
early five am, but if not, I'll get up for schol around like
six point thirty. And then youwork out after schools. Yeah. Yeah.
Do you sleep ever, Yeah,I tend to sometimes sit down and
then I'll accidentally just fall asleep,but I sleep about eight hours a night

(06:21):
and then just train as much aspossible. All Right, What is something
that you want people to know aboutColton as a young man. He's just
a really tremendous worker. There's nothingin our track practices or of demanding and
I'm more of this short distance sprintcoach, and we are demanding on the
athletes, and there's not a workoutthat he hasn't finished strong. So I'm

(06:45):
most impressed by his work ethic.Then I'm impressed by also how much of
a leader he is on the trackclub and me he helps our younger kids
because our group is from eight toeighteen boys and girls. He's willing participant
to help them. The kids lookup to him, and he's just an
example to set, he said,it's a standard for us, and those
are some of the things I'm mostproud of. And we were just all
kind of kidding that he works outbefore school, he works after after school,

(07:09):
but school is kind of like hisbreak man's that's that's funny. So
you know, how hard is itto mix all this the training and school.
Yeah, so I normally in myday like after like late at night,
after I work out, that's whenI use my studying time. Right
now, I'm able to maintain afour point oh gpa, but it's definitely
hard to like balance all of that. So I really have to, like

(07:31):
there's not a lot of time tostudy, but I still can somehow get
it in an Olympic because you know, hopeful and a four point oh that's
quite an accomplishment, thank you.What do you What does he have coming
up that you want to highlight?Well, what do you guys? Coming
up early this weekend, it'll bethe TSTCA Indoor Championships, which is like
the western side of the state IndoorChampionships, and he's going into that meet

(07:55):
as the number one seed in thesixty meter dashed, the number one seat
in at two hundred meets your dash, and also the number one see then
the long jump. All right,somebody's listening right now, and maybe maybe
they have kids that are they haveaspirations in track and field. What kind
of advice would you have for them? I would definitely say, just like,
stay consistent with what you're doing,because if you don't see results like

(08:18):
right away, like you're not goingto you always have to stay consistent with
what you're doing if you want tosee progress and results. What kind of
diet do you have? Oh?This is yeah. My friends always make
fun of me for this because we'llbe hanging out and they'll be eat like
drinking pizza and at Like. Ireally keep my diet as clean as possible.
I'll have probably one cheat day everyfew weeks, eat some ice cream
or so, but I really keepto like high protein, high carbs,

no like bad fats and stuff likethat. So how did you know?
How do you go from spring gardenlending vice president to track coach? How
do you balance that? I haveno idea. I get that question quite
a bit me. I had boys. My boys are now older. But
we started the track club almost alittle over twenty years ago, and it
was just something to do in thesummer. I was a big baseball fan,

(09:03):
but they didn't like baseball, sowe had to figure out something to
get them ready for football and inthe fall. So we started this youth
track club and it just started togrow and grow and grow and grow.
And they're done now and we stillcontinue to have consistently sixty seventy athletes.
We pulled from thirteen different school districts. And if somebody is listening, who
maybe have a child who might beinterested, how did they get more information

(09:24):
and how do we follow Colton's progress? The best way to do it is,
I mean, I'll give you myphone number four one two five eight
zero one five nine to one reachout through text or phone call. And
we were getting ready to start openingregistration for the Stallion's Youth Track Club here
in the next couple of weeks.Well, he might also talk to you
into a you know, you know, some investments as well. Yes,

yes, I think we're in forthe long haul with him. There's no
way we're not going to follow him. As he continues to hit on his
