Hello Brave souls,

This episode also bears news of a significant shift for this podcast. As I juggle new personal milestones, including the birth of my second child, and professional commitments like a partnership with Santa Cruz County Public Health Department, regularity in our podcast release schedule is taking a back seat.

But worry not, we’re not going off the radar!

Whenever there's an exciting guest to feature or enriching information that needs sharing, a brand-new episode will be on its way. To keep pace with us, make sure you're subscribed to The Hearth. Here's to many more insightful, passionate conversations on the world of work and health!

If something you heard today brought a smile to your face or a spark to your heart, and you’d like to connect with me, here are a few ways you can do that.

One is my newsletter, it’s where I put most of my time and energy when I’m not working with clients or on this podcast. Sorry social media! It’s a mix of real life stories, tips and tricks and of course updates on what’s happening with the podcast. Whenever something is going on with me or in my business, it always comes out there first.

Another resource that I have for you is my Guide to Doing Work Differently. The guide takes you through four inquiries into how you can build a more sustainable and equitable work environment for yourself and your team. It's a great place to start.

Last, if you’ve got a burning question, a comment, or a situation you’d like my eyes on, you can email me at candice@fortressandflourish.com.

If you enjoyed this episode, hit subscribe to know when the next episodes come out, and if you’re feeling generous, leave a review. Reviews help other like-minded folks find their way to this resource.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
The hearth is for you if you're a business leader
with a team.
Here we have conversationsabout how to keep growing.
When you feel you've reachedyour capacity, when what you're
doing is working but you'restarting to see the cracks, when
there's a gap between whereyou're at now and where you want

(00:26):
to be, here we find ways totransition through the struggle
of survival toward creating athriving business that supports
you and your team as wholehumans.
Your host is me, candiceElliott.
I'm a business strategist andmentor who specializes in

(00:49):
working with business owners whoare going through periods of
growth.
Especially when you're addingmore people to your team, the
practices and systems thatworked when your team was
smaller just don't seem to fitanymore, and when you're caught
in stress and reaction, it'stough to reimagine the way that

(01:14):
you created your world of work, both your own personal one and
the one that you created forothers.
I help people align theirvalues and business practices to
build practical, sustainable, thriving work ecosystems and no,

(01:35):
this isn't just some workutopia talk.
To do this, I bring forward mydecade-long professional
background in human resourcesand organizational development,
working with growing businessesacross many sectors, and my
decades-long search for meaningand wholeness, which includes

(01:59):
researching the history of workand how it came to be what it is
today, practicing atrauma-informed approach to
business and integrating work, life and spirituality into a
meaningful whole.
Let's take this journeytogether.
Hello Bravesoles, I have cometo the end of an entire year of

(02:31):
podcasting and it has been sucha joy to do.
I've been loving it so much.
I think my favorite part aboutpodcasting has been bringing in
these amazing speakers to justtalk about what they're
passionate about.
And then I've also really loveddiving into an incredible

(02:54):
amount of research and usingthis as a way to get the message
out there and start talkingabout, especially the
intersection of health and work.
It's just been such a coolmedium for that.
That said, I think you guys allknow or if you're newer to the

(03:14):
podcast I have had my secondbaby.
His name is Runeer and he wasborn in August of this year, the
year that I'm recording this.
So that means that I've had totake another look at how I'm
spending my time.

(03:38):
When I look at the upcomingmonths, what I'm seeing is that,
amazingly, wonderfully, I havea lot of amazing people that I'm
going to be working with.
Thank you.
I'm excited to announce that Iam starting work with Santa Cruz
County Public Health Department.

(03:59):
We're going to be working onretention and we're going to be
doing some training for managers.
We're going to be doing somementorship HR mentorship.
In that space, there arecurrently three organizations
that are utilizing my fractionalchief human resources officer

(04:23):
program.
Let's Lead Together.
Those are the Coastal WatershedCouncil, santa Cruz County Park
Friends and Sante Adarius, which is a local brewery.
They're award-winning.
I'm also working on someprojects for a few different

(04:44):
organizations.
What that means is that I'vedecided that I need to spend the
next quarter bringing on somemore support for my team so
building out my team, whichmeans that I'm not going to have

(05:06):
as much time to focus on thispodcast and interviewing people.
I've been able to in this lastyear look out, broadcast, spend
time on learning what it is thatthe message is here at Fortress
and Flourish, and how to talkabout what we do and being able

(05:30):
to invite people in to sharetheir wonderful and amazing work
.
I am planning on continuing todo that, but I'm not going to be
releasing episodes on a regularbasis, like it happened For the
last year.
If you've been a listener, you've pretty reliably been able

(05:50):
to count on an episode comingout every Thursday from me,
except when I was taking a breaksome time away over the summer.
That's not what it's going tolook like here in these upcoming
months.
In these upcoming months, whenI have something that's on my
mind that really would bevaluable to share, I will record

(06:13):
an episode and put it out, butit's not going to be on a
regular basis like that.
If there is a person that Iwant to invite to have a
conversation together, we'll dothat, but again, it's not going
to be on that every other weekkind of schedule that it has
been.
If you want to know whenepisodes drop, please subscribe

(06:36):
to the hearth.
You will be notified of newepisodes that way.
Another way to keep in touchwith me is through my newsletter
.

(06:58):

newsletter in January, so Iencourage you to head on over to
the websitefortressandflourishcom slash
newsletter to sign up for thatThen.
The other way to stay connectedis just through social media.
I'm most active on Instagram atFortress and Flourish, but also

(07:22):
I spend some time over onLinkedIn as well, so if that's
your preferred mode of socialmedia, then you can connect with
me that way.
Then, when I return to a moreregular flow of recording
episodes, I will, of course, keep you updated on that.
If you have been thinking aboutworking with me and if you feel

(07:48):

encourage you to get on mycalendar.
Let's have a navigation calland chat about how I might be
able to support you.

in our near future or in ourfuture future, please yeah, you

time when I'm taking a stepback although not a step away
from this podcast, hit subscribeto know when the next episodes
