Speaker 1 (00:01):
So in this episode,
we are going to peel back the
layers on a phrase we hear allthe time I'm just waiting on God
.
And you can't just say it, I'mjust waiting.
You have to say it with anattitude I'm just waiting on God
.
But what if we've been callingstillness, faith, when in
(00:22):
reality it's fear dressed up inchurch clothes?
See, can we have an honestconversation today?
Because I'm going to break downfor you the difference between
active preparation and passivewaiting, and why one leads to
alignment and the other tofrustration.
See, when we think aboutwaiting, what does waiting
(00:43):
really mean?
Waiting doesn't mean doingnothing.
See, scripture supports activefaith.
Like Noah building the arkbefore the rain came, people
thought that he was crazy.
Why are you doing this?
We don't see any rain.
We haven't seen any rain.
But he had receivedinstructions, and so in his
(01:14):
instruction, he knew that I haveto build this ark even before
the first drop of rain comes.
So I ask you are you waiting orare you avoiding the next step?
You avoiding the next step?
I'll wait, because I believethat this is going to be the
honest conversation that youneed to have with yourself, not
for you to listen to what I'msaying to go through this whole
(01:37):
episode and then not do any work.
See, that's where most of usget this thing called life wrong
.
We can't say that we have notbeen given the information.
See, we say that we wantsomething different in our life,
yet we are unwilling to dosomething different in order for
(01:59):
that new thing to show up.
So you're sitting there andyou're saying I'm waiting, I'm
praying, I'm waiting on God.
But what if, while you'resaying you're waiting on God,
god is waiting on you?
See, I know sometimes you'lllisten to this show and you'll
get the churchy Kiana, you'llget the one that's going to be
(02:24):
giddy at times.
You're going to get the realversion of me all the time, the
authentic version of me all thetime.
But this, this one today, isgoing to show up and stir your
spirit a bit, because I knowthat you have been saying to
(02:45):
yourself I'm just waiting on God, I'm just waiting on him to
give me the next set ofinstructions.
And, if I can burst your bubblereally quickly, you're not
waiting on God, because God hasalready given you a set of
(03:07):
instructions, but you areunwilling to take the next step,
because that next step isoutside of what you are used to.
That next step is outside ofyour comfort zone.
That next step is going topropel you into this new version
(03:28):
of you and you yeah, you, theperson that's listening to me
today you are afraid of whatthat version of you is going to
require of you today, see, inorder for you to become a thing,
you have to realize what thatentails and who you need to
become in order to get there.
(03:48):
See, some of you all have setthese extremely large goals and
there's going to be a newversion of you that has to
emerge in order for you to walkinto that goal.
So some of you all are sittingat the precipice of what do I do
(04:09):
?
And you're blaming it on orusing the excuse of I just got
to pray about it.
I just have to sit still for amoment, I just need to.
You have all of these thingsthat you need to, that you're
(04:30):
saying you need to when you'rejust avoiding the next step to,
when you're just avoiding thenext step.
So what is something you'vebeen waiting on that actually
requires your action?
I need you to get that top ofmind, because some of you all,
(05:04):
your next is so close, butyou've decided that you are
going to sit on the sideline oflife and just hope that
everything is going to come toyou.
And that's not how it works.
See, even while you are sittingon the sidelines, there are
some things that you can bedoing, and we're going to get to
(05:26):
that in a second.
But again, I just need you toget that on your mind.
What have you been waiting on?
That actually requires action.
See, preparation is proof ofbelief.
So, if you believe it's coming, you prepare.
(05:50):
Waiting is idle, preparing isprophetic and your preparation
sends a message that I believewhat I prayed for is already
mine.
So remember when I said thatyou can be sitting on the
sidelines and not necessarily inthe game, but as you are
(06:16):
sitting on the sideline, you canbe reviewing the playbook, you
can be preparing your mind, youcan be getting yourself ready
for where it is that you'regetting ready to go, because,
just because you're waiting toget into the game, you don't get
into the game and then need tolearn the plays.
You develop and learn the playsoff the field, so that when
(06:42):
your number is called, I don'tknow why.
I'm talking in terminology offootball today.
Maybe it's because of the showthat I was recently watching,
but I do enjoy football.
Let me get back on track.
But I'm hoping that you arepicking up what I'm putting down
Because, as some of you all aresitting on the sidelines and
(07:06):
you're saying, I just need to bestill in the season, your hands
can still be working, you canstill be reading a book, you can
still be listening to a podcastand I'm thanking you all for
(07:26):
listening to this oneno-transcript.
So how would you behave if youknew the job was already yours,
the husband was already yours, the opportunity was already
yours?
You'd show up a littledifferent, right?
(07:49):
You'd show up knowing that thisis mine, I have worked hard for
it and I'm getting ready towalk into it.
But you all kind of sit backand just hope for things to kind
of come to you, and that's nothow life works.
So I need you to shift yourmindset a little bit, because
(08:17):
we're going to operate faithwith feet.
So, as we talk about the fearof making the wrong move
sometime and how that fearbecomes a hiding place if what
we are thinking doesn't work out, not realizing that, although
it didn't work, it created adifferent version in you and you
(08:37):
needed for it to not work, sothat when you get to the place
that you want to go, you'llrealize why it didn't.
It taught you a lesson.
And sometimes people get toplaces and they've gotten there
so quick, fast and in a hurrythat they have not had the
opportunity to learn along theway.
Sometimes things have beengiven to people and you know
(08:59):
they rightfully did not deserveit and you're trying to figure
out.
Well, I had to jump through allthe hurdles, I had to go all
around the Marbury Bush, I hadto go and do all of these
different things.
Why can't it just show up in mylife right now?
And it's because you're needingto learn the lesson so that,
(09:20):
although that person got to thisstep because it may have been
given to them, you're going tosurpass them because of all of
the lessons that you havelearned.
And it doesn't always feel goodin the process.
It does not always feel good inthe waiting.
It does not always feel good inthe preparation, but you begin
(09:41):
to understand once you've walkedinto it.
So you have to shift yourmindset from asking when will it
happen?
To who do I need to become soI'm ready when it does.
I talked about the job.
So are there somecertifications that you can get
(10:05):
right now?
Are there some classes that youcan take right now?
Are there some things that canhelp you level up right now?
For those of you all who arelooking and waiting for your
spouse, what are some thingsthat you can do for you right
now so that you can be the bestversion of you when that person
(10:27):
shows up?
Can you be the healed and wholeversion when that person shows
up?
Can you understand how to beloving when that person shows up
?
Can you understand you enoughso that you can articulate your
needs and wants to thisindividual when they come into
your life?
Or when they show up, are yougoing to continue to bleed on
(10:48):
them because you're not healedyet?
See, there are things that youcan do in this waiting season to
prepare yourself.
In this waiting season toprepare yourself.
Or it could just be thatopportunity, that business,
writing that book, whatever itis.
Begin to prepare, do theresearch.
(11:10):
What is it that people need tohear now?
What is it that people need toknow now?
So the mantra should be Iprepare, not to prove my worth,
but because I believe in what'scoming.
Y'all, we didn't just daydreamas children, just to be
(11:35):
daydreaming, and why is it that, when we become adults, we stop
daydreaming?
We have to put that thing onour mind.
We have to be able to close oureyes and visualize what it is
that we want.
How does it make us feel, howdoes it sound, how does it smell
(11:57):
?
These are things you can beginto do now.
So the first thing that I needyou to do is identify one thing
you can do while you wait.
If you're looking for that job, update your resume, create a
(12:18):
morning routine, practice publicspeaking, declutter whatever it
is that you need to do duringthis waiting season, and then
use this waiting season to buildcharacter, consistency and
clarity.
Who do you want to be?
Who do you want people to knowyou as?
(12:41):
How do you want to show up inthese rooms?
Begin to prepare.
If you want to be a speaker, gostand in front of your mirror
and talk to your mirror, becausehow will you know what you look
like to the audience if youdon't know what you look like?
What are your facialexpressions giving off?
(13:06):
All of these things, all ofthis prep work, matters.
So I'm excited for where we are.
I'm excited for where we aregetting ready to go, and for
those of you all who are newhere, you will hear me mess up,
(13:30):
because I do not go back andre-record.
Whatever you hear is what youget, because life doesn't give
us the opportunity to go backand erase, but what we can do is
in the moment we can correct.
So our affirmation for thisweek is I release idle waiting
(13:58):
and step into intentionalpreparation.
I do not need to know when it'scoming, I just need to be ready
when it does.
So if this episode spoke to you, dm me one thing.
(14:19):
You've been waiting on thatyou're going to start preparing
for this week and let's holdeach other accountable.
